She is really nice, but she is an extremely hard teacher. If she wrote a paper for her class she couldn't get higher than a C. If you are really good at English try you still won't get higher than a C on your papers. She hardly tells you what to do just check blackboard or you won't know. Don't expect that high a grade in her class.

Mrs. Beard is her own person, i really like her personality...but not so sure if i like her as a teacher. She makes you work hard and strive for the best. The people who wrote comments about her before are completly wrong she isn't hard she just tries to break you so u can build yourself even stronger...she is extremely helpful; an A possible.

At first I thought she was a horrible teacher, but actually she is very nice. She is helpful. If you treat her respect, she treats you the same way. She didn't even give my class a final. I made A's and B's on papers. It's not that hard if you actually do the work.

She is a great teacher. Her hyperness makes the class very enjoyable even if you dont enjoy english classes. Her assignments are generally well explained and you will get plenty of time to complete them.

If you are looking for an easy A, find someone else. If you want to learn how to write and punctuate, there is no one better. She spends time correcting papers so the portfolio is easy to get an A on. What you learn will come in handy for other classes. My essay tests in other classes improved because of this class. you will need what she teaches.

Mrs. Beard is so nice, it is impossible for me to not like her. I took English 1010 and 1020 with her. She isn't an "easy" grader I guess, but as long as you listen and use all the templates and extra help she provides online, you should be making good grades. She has helped me so much in writing, I am becoming more and more confident. Love her!!!

Mrs. Beard is a wonderful professor. Yes she expects a lot from her students, but she is very helpful. Go to class, take good notes, and turn everything in on time. I ended up with an A in the class. She really enjoyed my writing and was a very positive professor. Take her class!!

She is a very hard grader. You think you have everything in your paper that she wants, but she will definitely still find something wrong with it. She is a great person and will definitely respond to your emails and help when she can. This class is not an easy A. You do have a final portfolio to fix your papers.

I took her for both English 1010 and 1020. I received a B for 1010 and an A for 1020. She gives great feedback and there are not a lot of papers. 4 papers for 1010. About 5 for 1020. She will give help and ask. She is a tough grader but if you ask her to look over your paper every class you should come out with a B if not an A

Very few papers, but you peer grade each paragraph every class so you must revise and print before every class. very helpful and marks up your paper every class. kind and sweet professor that really cares about you and truly makes you a better writer. don't have to buy the textbook but it is very helpful.

We wrote 3 papers this semester. She genuinely cares about her students. Even though she is a tough grader, she outlines what she wants in each paragraph of each paper. She might seem a little crazy at first, but you become comfortable with her overtime. You need access to a printer because you have to print your current drafts for each class.

Dr. Beard is a tough grader, and you really have to work for the grade you want. However, I hear she's one of the easiest English 1020 teachers to take. You definitely need access to a printer because she requires drafts and worksheets to be printed out. She's really caring and her personality for sure can wake you up early in the morning.

Dr. B is an amazing professor! Although if you dont have access to a printer, i recommend avoiding her class. She really cares about all her students and making sure everyone understands the assignments.

Dr. Beard is an extremely tough grader. I learned a lot in her class, and my writing has improved tremendously. She has clear outlines on how to write each paper. There was a total of three major papers. Every class is important since there is peer reviewing. I made the mistake of missing six class meetings and my grade reflected that.

Dr. B is a wonderful professor. She cares a lot about her students and is super understandable about any attendance issues. Her assignments consist of at least 3 major papers, but she helps you along the way to work on it. I can not stress enough how amazing she is. She gives back good feedback on your work to help you become a better writer.

Dr.B was be best educator I have had in my academic career. She gives clear directions, many examples, and essentially unlimited help. There are only 3 papers, one is based off a movie. Dr.B broke the writing down to paragraphs with peer reviews in between.. I never received below an A on any assignments, but I did put in effort. Dr.B is amazing!

Overall I think she is an amazing professor. She has clear examples and information to help you do well on your essays. She also cares for all of her students!! Sometimes she would get off topic and tell stories, but over she was a great professor.

Feel comfortable asking questions, and you will get a clear understanding of her criteria for papers. Dr. Beard is so incredibly kind and patient. She is also a very tough grader and expects the best of the best all the time. She does get on tangents and share about her personal life but there is always a moral to the story, and I do think she is just trying to make herself relatable. I LOVED her class and her. Tough lady with tenacity and depth.

Professor Beard values hard work and careful following of her rubrics (grading is fair because the rubric is clear). She sends out announcements multiple times per week encouraging and reminding students of her expectations. There are 4 papers/responses in this course. We do peer reviews most class days, and she takes time to teach us lessons.

It's a writing class, expect to write. Show up, bring your work, and participate in peer reviews and you will be fine. She is good about outlining which resources are available to you and demonstrating how to use them.

I loved Dr. B's class. We wrote three papers, one of which was about a movie that we watched in class. She is super kind and gives great details about what she wants to see in each paper. Professor Beard is a amazing teacher who is very understanding with any situation you may run into. There is quite a lot writing 1020 but she gave us 3 weeks to write the final paper. You will not receive a 100 on any paper. Would love her as a teacher again.

Dr. B has so much energy and cares so deeply about her students. There is 3 essays each semester, class time is used for peer review. She lets your choose your own topics and gives amazing feedback when asked. She can go on tangents, but they are interesting and most times very funny. Choose topics you're passionate about and you will do amazing.

Dr. Beard was always only an email away, and if you missed a day or two of classes, she was quick to contact you with information to catch you back up. If you email her about your absence, she won't count it against you. She is a little crazy, and likes to ramble, but only does so because she cares.. Do your work, and you will be fine.

Dr. Beard is well loved by students who will put in the effort. As an English major, I adore her. I can see how others may struggle in her class as she goes on tangents a lot. However, to me this makes her memorable, and more comfortable with her as a human being rather than just a professor. She is someone you can comfortably communicate with.

Jill Beard is an energetic professor for sure. She gets off topic a lot and tends to stand on the tables, but she never fails to make us laugh. She actually cares about her students and tries to make personal connections with all of us. There are three papers we have to write throughout the semester, but we have lots of time to complete them.

She always includes examples for formatting and the ways she wants us to write. The examples are really helpful when doing Dr. B's MLA formatting and are good for reference.
