shes a very good teacher, very bubbly, and upbeat, great teacher to have
Jill is a wonderful passionate teacher!
Excellent teacher!! Makes you love math and want to be a good teacher
Very upbeat greta and clear teacher!
Kind of like those crazy people you laugh at on the bus, but a great math tea

great math prof, makes you want to take another math course
She's such an easy teacher. Tells you exactly what questions are going to be on the tests before hand. BUT, if you have any previous math skills (ie Math 12) you will be very frustrated as she teaches to the slowest people in the class

Excellent teacher who makes the class fun and interesting. Math is one of those subjects where I struggle, and she made me determined to do my best.

I'm taking her math 113 class, she is one of those few good math teachers out there. If you review a bit each night your going to do fine. I hated math until I took Jill's class.
Jill is awesome. She teaches a concept in a few different ways to ensure different learning styles understand. She's very "animated" which helps keep your attention at the very least. Outlines before tests make getting an A easy!
Jill is an amazing teacher. She did the impossible in making me learn math. She is approachable, her office is always open and she cares about her students. She made learning fun, i never skipped her classes. I would recomend her to any math student.
She is a good teacher when it comes to logic. She wants you to understand rather then to memorize. She is very bad in a sense that she treats you like a 2 year old, and that makes everyone angry.
Great teacher best course ever.
Jill is always willing to help her students. She is dedicated to her material and teaches with joy.
Jill is a dedicated teacher who cares about her students.Although her teaching style may seem childish, it makes the class interesting and enables you to easily grasp the concepts.
loved jill. will not take math from anyone else at camosun for fear of them not being able to live up to britton. if you are willing to take her class seriously, she will take you seriously. ask for help when you need it, she'll be there!
Awesome teacher! She is tough but has a big heart and more dedication to her craft and her students than anyone!! Take her class and I guarantee even the most math-phobic student will come out of it liking if not loving MATH!!
worst math teacher i have ever had. Literally helped studenst who she enjoyed on exams, Her voice was annoying, and what does an art portfolio have to do with math?
Jill was a great teacher. She explained math to you like you were in elementary school so you would understand. It was great. The only downside was that all her tests were on Fridays...So if you like going out on thursdays, dont take her early friday morning classes!!
The best teacher I've ever had. Went from a C- in math 11 to an A in Math college. It was all her. She does an unbelievable job teaching the mathematically impaired. Anyone who doesn't think she is helpful musn't have made any effort whatsoever. Loves to help if you just ask. A very personable prof
AMAZING teacher. i truley sucked at math in highschool, and dropped math 12 half way through as i had 51%. but in her class i never got lower than 90% on a test. she truley is passionate and knows her stuff!
Horrible, Dreadful. She was terrible, very unclear when asking questions, she would just say the same thing over. Super retarded class, got 97% without any homework, but I didn't learn anything. I Kept saying to myself, we are learning this at a college level? Go teach elementry Britton!
I don't agree with the last entry. Jill is a great teacher-a bit quirky but funny. You can get a good grade in this class but you have to do the homework and go to class. You can't get 97% without doing any homework unless you already know the material. Misleading previous comment.
One of the truly great teachers I have ever met, and I've met many (B.Sc. & M.P.M. at SFU). Genuinely passionate, engaging, and dramatic (vital in teaching math). A refreshingly fair marker, accurately reflecting the amount of work/effort put forth by the student. She definitely found her calling.
Jill Britton has perfected her craft as a math teacher! She keeps her students engaged and interested in math (of all things), as well as providing a strong platform for understanding the material. Jill pretty much bends over backwards for those students needing extra help outside of the classroom.
I cant emphasize enough about how great a teacher Jill Britton is. I almost didnt go into the program I am in because the requirement was math. I decided to just try it out and I am so glad I did. I came to every class did the homework nightly and got my first A in math EVER, she made math easy!!
In response to the bad comment(and following): there is no teacher that everyone likes; I happen to dislike her teaching style. Mrs. Britton is a fine teacher if you do not understand math but can be very frustrating for people who do. Sorry, but she would be better suited in an elementary school.
Jill is a Math ninja. Get over her quirks; she keeps things interesting! Couldn't have done it without her. She will take as much time as it takes to help you, if that's what's required.
Definitely a good teacher.Really cares about her students and wants you to succeed.I've always sucked at math until class with Jill. She changed my opinion of math completely!Only downfall was having to put so much work into those damn portfolios! They seemed more like art projects than assignments.Kind of a waste of time.Good teacher,I loved her!
She is intimidating and responds with a loud and insensitive voice if you ask a question in front of the class. Outside of class she is better one on one. She doesn't see hard workers with bad grades when asking for help you really need she doesn't respond unless it's drama. I was honest and paid, while other kids made stories w/good gr.were lol
Just by looking at Jills scores it is no mistery that she is an EXCELLENT teacher. Who knew that math could be made fun? Her classes are flexable with usually 2 or 3 differnt times you may attend and she basicaly gives you the test before you even write it. REC math is very fun, but easy to slip behind in if you do not keep up with the work.
Very entertaining, she makes math easy and fun, i very much enjoyed being in her class and can't wait till next term.
Jill was a great teacher. When i went into the class i had previously failed a math 11 final and i have an A in Math now. She makes sure you understand and gives you the help you need if you dont. She definatly wants everyone to succeed. But dont get behind on the portfolio's... They are alot of work!
Jill is a really great teacher. She makes it possible for every student in her class to succeed if they wish to do so. She is always available for extra help and she makes math fun (i never thought i'd say that). Definately recommend taking this class with Jill, especially if you want to do well.
Jill is eccentric. Her stories are hillarious (ie. thinking out loud whether pyros are intelligent or not.. lol!). The rec math was a great way to earn *extra* marks. She really does love math, although I still dont think its "fun"...
Jill is a great teacher and I like her style. I am doing well. Although I have some criticism about her class, I found her rude at times. She throws things at people and sometimes she is not helpful in class. she is much better one on one. Her manners deteriorate throughout the course of the year.
Jill rules
Jill is the BEST math teacher I've ever had! I find her extremely funny, just "telling it like it is," I love it! She really knows how to drill things into your head, and break things down so you can understand it. I used to be terrified of math, and only got 77% in math 11 in high school, but in her class, I'm getting a 94%!
Jill is one of the best math teachers i have had. She takes enough time on each subject so you learn it and she drills it into your head!! I hated math going in and ended up with an A+... not because it was a super easy class but because i actually UNDERSTOOD what i was doing for the first time!!
summary of jill: best math teacher i have ever had, very supportive if you do not understand, makes math an enjoyable subject to learn and makes it possible to learn things i had never understood before by going step-by-step! she is crazy about escher!! can get good marks as long as you study questions for tests and do well in the rec math part!
Jill Britton is amazing... Although some of her comments in class can be off-topic, she is the first teacher to teach Math and I thoroughly understand the topics. She uses real-life suggestions to make the work easier, and her notes have incredible clarity.
Jill is the best Math teacher ever. She makes it soo easy and fun that you want to take the class with her. She is always available when needed and she cares about her student. She doesn't want her student to fail, she tries really hard to not let them fail.
Nicest teacher I've ever had - I used to be horrible and Math and hence I hated it - but her class is so good she tells you even what EXACTLY is going to be on her test! I am now doing well in math and, *gasp*, I am enjoying it too!
She is a miracle worker! I failed Math 12 miserably, and I got a B+ in her class. If you need to take math, take her class. BEST MATH PROFESSOR ON EARTH!
I never enjoyed math until I took a class with Jill. I am at Uvic now but I came back to camosun just to take my math class with her. She's a great teacher, supportive and a math whiz. Jill is a teacher that you will remember because you can tell she loves to teach!
Jill was able to take each topic and explain it in a way that made so much sense! I really enjoyed taking this class, and I'm looking forward to learning more from her this semester.
really willing to give extra help when asked.
Been doing this awhile and knows her stuff.
Jill assumes that only future teachers will be in her class and doesn't consider the other students in other programs who need a Math 100 UT course. The class is ridiculously simple and simple minded. However, having class every day is the worst part. After Jill rants about one example the class is over and you feel like you've wasted your time.
Best math teacher I've ever had
Jill is simply put, the best math teacher I have ever had in my life. She is bright, entertaining, helpful and truly engaged in her classes. I have always received poor marks in math for as long as I can remember and I am walking into this final with an A+. You MUST go to class and do NOT leave your portfolio until the last minute or you are crazy!
Jill yells constantly. Not in a fun exciting way, in an annoying scary way. She plays favourites. If you don't suck up and do way more than necessary she won't like you. Be prepared to hear all about her mother and how her moth drives her crazy. Please avoid Jill for the sake of your sanity.
Jill is a great teacher who is willing to work 1 on 1 with students and makes the material fun and interesting. Geared very nicely to prospective teachers, but also great for anyone interested in working with children or better understanding the mathematical world around us.
Jill is the WORST teacher i've had HANDS DOWN!! She's not helpful AT ALL, although she may be to those whom she favors. There are many people in the class who feel the same way. I totally regret taking this class as it was a waste of my time and money. If you can take math 112 and 113 elsewhere please do!! Save yourself the headache!!
A very good teacher. Jill has made a nath lover out of me! Although the math in the class may not be copmplex, the work load is heavy. It's a fun and informative class but do not take it if you think that it will be a free ride to a math credit.
Makes math both fun and interesting. I hated math before I took this course, but am now looking forward to eventually teaching it.
Jill is absolutely a great teacher who puts all her heart and soul in her teaching. If you really want to be a teacher, you will enjoy her class and learn a lot from her
Jill is the BEST teacher I've ever had! Her instructions of assignments are extremely clear and easy to follow up. It's totally worth it to take her class, no doubt.
BEST teacher ever!!! She makes the class sooooo much fun and we learn more interesting things than we expect. Most students get good grade. She tries really hard to not let students fail and she is fair in marks. You would only fail if you don't want to be a teacher.
Jill is by far the greatest teacher I have ever had. Her unique assignments actually teach you something about math that is useful and interesting. Her grace, sense of humour, and obvious care for her students makes her a very good teacher.
I left this class feeling proud of what I had accomplished. I could not have done this without the encouragement Jill's. Those of you that think she favours certain people should take a long look at yourself. There may be a reason you did not benefit. You must care as much as the prof does. Jill cares more than any prof I have ever had.
Jill turned my math world around. I went into her course without a doubt in my mind that I would need a tutor and that I would be miserable. Jill turned that around in first 5 minutes. She is knowledgable, approachable and fair. I would strongly suggest taking her class if you are planning on becoming a teacher!
Jill is an excellent teacher. This course makes math fun and focuses on the connection between art and the science of math. A great course!
Britton is the most talented, hard working and intelligent proffesor I have ever had the priviledge of learning from. If anyone has written a negative comment, it is because they did not attend class or study, and therefore failed her class and themselves. As a future teacher, I strive to be as creative, enthusiastic and inspiring as Jill Britton.
If you have the chance to take a class with Jill, DO IT! Most amazing teacher I have ever had...she will change your world and idea of math! I've always had a B average in highschool math and came out with A+'s in both 112 and 113. Work hard and you'll be rewarded. I'm actually sad to not have a math with her this year :(
I was Mrs. Britton's student in both Math 112 and 113. She is by far the most courteous, caring and talented teacher I have ever encountered. Highly recommended.
Jill will bend over backwards to make sure her students succeed. She is a passionate person and trys to allow math and creativity to flow together. She does have some negative attributes as other people have suggested, but her kind/caring demeanor, her sense of humour, and her intense excitement for math overule all of the flaws. Take her class!!!
I love Jill! She definitely knows how to make learning fun. She encourages students to be creative. Her tests are never a surprise and she is always there to help you if you need it. This is a perfect class for future teachers! She can be blunt, but it is not directed at anyone personally. She was my comedy relief for the day! :)

Jill is a superb teacher! If you need to take take math 360 at Uvic, be sure to take the prerequisite classes with Jill! She lays amazing groundwork for the things that come up in that class. I was always sort of scared of math and thought I wasn't good at it, but Jill's talent and enthusiasm for teaching helped me change my attitude.
math class provided a lot of usefull stuff for future teachers and was fun.
Jill is a great teacher. She bends over backwards to help her students- and I truly mean this. It is a math course so it still takes work, but if you are struggling Jill will do anything to help. She spends numerous extra hours of her own time preparing and helping other students succeed. Teaching mathematics is a true joy for Jill- and you can
To be honest, Math has always been my worst subject. I know that it takes a special professor to make me interested in Math and succeed at the same time. Math 113 with Jill Britton was my favourite course this year. Even though it was an intense work load, I loved Jill's creativity and dedication to her students. She is a very inspiring women!
Jill is a great teacher. She is passionate about math which makes it exciting and interesting to learn about. She is always available during office hours for extra help. She explains clearly what the requirements for the course are and what you can expect on a test. Jill makes learning about math fun and I would definately recommend her classes.
Jill is an incredibly talented instructor. (National Award Recipient!) I give her brilliant teaching ability full credit for my success in this course. Enroll with her ASAP! :>
Talks too loudly, doesn't know how to use technology but thinks she's really good at it, doesn't give practice tests but should. Easy/fun material presented angrily--she shouts every class!
One of the greatest profs I have had. It's going to be a very interesting semester not having her teach me. She is there if you need help and is willing to drill questions over and over if needed. Great class, great prof. If given the option take 112 or 113.
Jill is one of the most amazing instructors I've had. Her zest for mathematics is contagious, and her immense devotion to her students is incredible! She's fueled my confidence + competence, and I only wish I could have her again! As a third year business student, Jill is definitely ranked among my top 3 instructors at Camosun! THANK YOU!!!
I would recomend Jill to anyone who is looking to learn and enjoy math for once! She is a very reasonable teacher and tells you exactly what you need to know, I disliked math before 113 and 112, I've never done so well in Math until she tought it to me, she wiLl even reteach you a 2hr class in her free time if you need it! I appreciate her!
There is no one better than Jill. As a prospective elementary teacher, the material combined with her methodology is invaluable. From her meticulous planning to her mistakes, her 112- 113 classes are amazing. Interested in working with children? When preparing for the expected and unexpected, she is an excellent role model.
Jill has actually made math 113 my favorite class I have ever taken. If you want to be a teacher you have to take her class, it's that good. Assignments are straight from the text book, and exams are based off of the assignments. She makes herself available to help students with their projects.
I took Math 112 and 113 this semester with Jill and being a person who has never received a higher grade than a C+ in Math prior to these courses-Jill is a Miracle Worker! The 112 curriculum is quite tough, but she taught it in a way that I actually understood! 113 is a great course and her passion shines through here! I got As in both thanks to her
I love Jill! She is so passionate about math that it makes me passionate as well. Her enthusiasm for teaching her students what she knows is undeniably the reason the class is so enjoyable. I strongly recommend anyone to take any class that Jill teaches as you will walk away with a great depth of knowledge and understanding of the course. A+ Jill!
Jill is a great teacher. She is passionate about the material and makes it fun and interesting to learn. If you plan on being an elementary student teacher this class, and Math 112 are a must!
She said it herself on the first day, she will spin around on her head and spit nickels for her students. Her enthusiasm and passion for teaching shows in every single class, and she dedicates tons of time to her students. Despite being in a serious car accident this year, she didn't miss a single day of classes. She is a great teacher.
Many find Jill to be the greatest teacher ever. I found that she was hyper active and spoke with a raised voice. This was often overwhelming. She appeared to have favorites. Jill is inefficient when it comes to technology and time will be wasted. Overall she is clear, but the pace of the class can be painfully slow.
Makes math fun to learn and relates it to real life. Students who attend and put in even minimal effort will do well. Jill is endlessly ammending her courses to make them as accessable and clear as possible. Her dedication to teaching has set a higher standard for teachers everwhere.

If you decent understanding of math, this teacher will not be to your benefit. Jill is for the student who never understood math in high school. Some of the content is interesting (particularly rec math part), but honestly, if you have ever taken a statistcs course you can float through this class and don't even bother buying textbook
Jill is an okay teacher. She is so loud which isn't great. I felt as though she had favorites and marked accordingly. She basically tells you what is going to be on the test so it's easy to ace her tests. It's a really slow class for those that understand math. Overall I didn't enjoy the class.
I have taken both math 112 and 113 and received high grades in both. I would like to say though that her test are frustrating because there are so few questions that it is easy to do poorly just from a few really minor mistakes. She marks each question out of so many marks it seems impossible to understand where the marks are coming from.
Britton is the most talented, hard working and intelligent professor I have ever learned from. If anyone has written a negative comment, it is because they did not attend class or study, and therefore failed her class and themselves. As a future teacher, I strive to be as creative, enthusiastic and inspiring as Jill Britton.

Jill is an amazing teacher, she has perfected both math 112 and math 113, the course load is hard, and there is alot to do outside of the classroom, but she explains what she expects and it is fairly easy to recieve an A if you merely show up.
Very helpful and clear on all assignments and tests. Especially so for 112 when she clearly tells you what's going to be on it. As long as you take the time to go to class and do the assignments (a great majority of which are done out of class) you can't get anything less than an A-.
As a teacher, she's mastered the class. However, as a person, she's not very politically correct, so be prepared for that. 80% of the work is done at home and the best piece of advice for this class is to start your portfolio RIGHT AWAY!
She was not approachable and often begun class ten minutes early. I found it overwhelming that the class was five days a week and when I looked at how she marked my test the numbers didn't make sense.
Jill is an awesome teacher! I took math 112 and loved it. Taking this class was my favourite class! She cares so much about math and teaching that it makes it easy to learn. Piece of advice for for anyone talking Math 112 or 113.. Attend all classes and do your portfolio early.. And you will be golden!
I found Jill to be helpful when you went in for help! She has a passion for math and teaching. Lots of stuff she does in class are things you could use in an elementary classroom. Try and go to all the classes as I found the ones I missed were what I got wrong on tests/assignments. Also make sure to start your portfolio early!!
I've both heard and read about many people enjoying Jill's classes, I however, do not. She moves through subjects too quickly and gives poor directions for assignments. I find our class almost always begins late as she takes her time getting ready for our lecture. On one positive note, she properly prepares us for tests and is helpful when you ask.
Jill is an outstanding math teacher. She showed me that I could do math and her teaching opened the door for me... I have 3 degrees now. BS, MPH, DC...
