Gives test of the caliber of a high class local technical university(check out her coffee cup and you'll know which one), but if you do the work and take good notes, you should be fine. She has an interesting since of humor.
Evensizer is a great teacher. In the beginning she may come off as "peculiar" but she's a great teacher. Very helpful and considerate. She also grades on a curve (depending on the best test grade instead of the 0-100 scale) which is a blessin
Willling to help, but runs off into unrelated topics at times.
Very helpful and her lectures are easy to follow. Willing to help out with any questions you may have. Extra credit opportunities. Lenient on attendance. Do homework/ handouts and you'll be fine on the test/ quizzes.
Teacher with a very big heart, very helpful to her students. I highly recommend!
Teacher with a very big heart, very helpful and willing to go out of her way to teach and help her students. Much recommended!
a unique individual, yet has great lectures. get ready for the exams though as she makes them a bit different to what you might see in class or the homework. definetely has interest in the success of her students as she tries to help
A great class with lots of humor. Not recommended for folkes allergic to homework. Guarenteed to bring math skills required for calc back from the dead.
Really cool teacher. Very funny and very easy. It is very hard to fail her class if you show up.
cool teacher easy going and has a weird sense of humor but other than that she is funny and as long as you do the homework and study for tests you will be fine.
She can be a very good entertainer but not a good teacher, at all. She never prepares for her lecture, doesn't know the material very well ( the tuff in Math 270). That's why she confuses her students in this class. My advice, take her if you're going to take math class below calculus. If anything higher from calculus, take someone else.
Evensizer is wonderful. I have nothing negative to say about her. She's funny and always makes sure that the class doesn't get too boring. It's very rare to find instructors that gives extra credits in math class. I enjoyed evey lecutures and example problems.
Prof. E. is one of the sweetest, nicest, coolest, most helpful, caring teachers here. Genuinely wants the best for her students. Will gladly help in office hours and via email. Has a non-chalant semi-careless jokey method of delivery that didn't always do the job for me. Sticks to the book mostly. Did not succeed in lighting a fire under my ass.
This teacher is psycho! She can't teach, she's not organized and she jumps around from chapter to chapter, so even if u plan on studying at home, u don't know where the hell to study!! Do NOT get this teacher!!!!!
she's not BAD...but she isnt good. especially if you didnt ace your last 3 math classes with ease. she's a math person for math people and so if you think your math skills need improvement dont take her class. she has a bad attitude but that just an act she puts on. if you are GREAT at math and like hearing a teacher ramble on about it, take her.
Best advice i can give is to get to know "her" as a person. Make sure she learns your name. She is not that clear in teaching only because she knows whats she doing so well. Test can be hard. She tries to crack jokes, some are funny and some aren't. If you ever need help stay after & she will clarify it for you. She's no longer teaching this class.
I am so awful at math and I have no idea how i got a b in the class I swear she messed up on my grade. She's a fun lady which is a plus, but her tests are pretty hard she's a very fair grader and she gives points for trying. Hard class but like i said I got a b and I am retarted when it comes to math
This teacher will REALLY give you an idea of how university works. She's very random and explains things very fast-however, it's ur job to stop her if u don't understand(she doesn't ask "is every1 clear?"). Lots of e.c. I suggest going to the msc and study in a group and office hours... oh yeah she seems intimidating at first to scare people off.
She lectures well and is helpful if you go to her office hours. Sample tests help a lot.
Very knowledgeable, can be a bitter teacher at times, has passion for math, she's been teaching for quite a while, explains things well
if you have other options then avoid her. she takes years to give back tests.
OUTSTANDING! Possibly the best Math Prof. at El Camino. Very rare combo of KNOWLEDGE & TEACHING SKILLS!! Grades tests very fairly, giving MAXIMUM credit if she feels you know the METHOD(which takes a lot of time and effort!!). Would've loved to take her for 190 & 191, but she does not teach those. Hopefully will take her for Math 270 come spring'09!
not fun, dont take her
she is a good teacher but doesnt care of her students, i dont recomend her
She is a very nice teacher, funny, but she give the tests so hard. Even she said that on the first day, "I am not a nice teacher, and my tests will be hard". If u want to study by yourself and u are really powerful, easy to pass any tough test, maybe u can try her class.
Good professor, do the homework and you'll do well. She brings pizza to review sessions for tests. Lazy people need not apply. Cold and soulless.
I like her way of teaching everything straight to the point and no wasting time. She even brings food on review days.If you really wanna learn your stuff this is it.If your lazy and want an easy class your looking in the wrong place.
I would not recommend taking her class! Its like shes on a mathematical high/trip! Today, I have a degree in physics and working on my PHD, no thanks to her.
Imagine: for 4 months you'll be forced to observe always-tardy-unorganized-vulgar-self-centered-ever-complaining blab that possesses none of an extra ordinary ability to teach! You?ll learn: how to clean white board - NOT STATIC. Save yourself and your money take this class somewhere else. Qualified to teach and able is not the same thing.
She is a nice teacher and help her students a lot. And free PIZZA in the lecture.
She's VERY fast, teaches concepts assuming you already know them(she doesn't review old concepts to jog your memory)..makes you feel dumb says things like "if you don't understand this, you're in the wrong class" constantly complains about everything..unless you are naturally really good at math (which i thought i was before i took her) avoid her!!
she was very tough!her test can be hard, I goy a C in her class then got an A in Calculus. Some say she's fair and grades are fair but i never saw any of that.
Men i'm scared to fail her class cos she's crab
Free Pizza? Kind Hearted? I have no idea who they're talking about because i never saw any of that. She's very arrogant and calls people stupid, idiots, etc. i was about to give up on math because of her. i got a C in her Precal class and i've since recieved A's in all my calculus and physics courses. Please listen! do not take her!
not a very dedicated teacher. shows up late to every class. Doesn't prepare for lecture. And puts things on test that she never covered in class. Spitefull/nasty. Basically, if she likes you, you'll get a good grade; if not, she'll fail you. Somehow, I got her to like me. Got a B, but didn't learn anything. If not tenured, would have been fired.
Math can be fun if you have a good teacher who lightens up the mood. this is not that teacher. She'll scare you to the point that you're so stressed on the test you don't do well. and her grading scale is so screwed up. i got a C on 1 test and A's on everything else and i got a B in the class. Please Don't take her!!
Math210's my 8th ECC math. I avoided Evensizer cuz of her petty, self-absorbed attitude OUT of her classes. She's so bad she f's up OTHER classes... this sem. she wasted 10 min of my 210 class by barging in to whine how the projector in her room sucked & how SHE was the best teacher on campus... NOT! She's a headless vector who does much damage.
Overall an EXCELLENT teacher! Yes, her tests may be a bit on the "harder" side, but she is not "unreasonable" as some have insinuated. The course itself is fairly difficult (especially the L.A. part) and does require effort and work! She made one WHOLE exam "take-home"!! What more can u ask for? With a little bit of effort I was able to get an A!
great teacher! very clear when she lectures. does lots of examples and is more than willing to answer questions. reviews for tests and makes sure you understand the material. she is very funny. homework is not collected, it's just practice. very clear and concise. i love this professor!
I went into the class expecting a terrible teacher but i actually liked her. Her humor is odd & gets off topic often but she knows her stuff well & offers extra credit points to ppl who catch her errors. if your good at math & willing to work, she's a good teacher. if your not, then look elsewhere; her lectures are eh bc she teaches by examples
I hated this class. I love math and with her I started to not like it. She does not teach, she just puts problems on the board. She doesn't explain the concepts. She is always late to class and says things like "I grade based on my mood" or "sorry, I didn't grade the test. I was to lazy this weekend" you also don't get your test back for 2-3 weeks.
She is not good. I got all A in every math class except for her. I got C in her class. She did not explain about final test. All students have to come to her and asked what we have to study for Final, than she said, "Everything you have leanr in class." Also, the final has only 6 questions. If you missed one question, You are C automatically.
took this class this semester...NOT RECOMMENDED. thought it wouldnt be that hard but the way she teaches math...ohboy. i was lost everyday during lecture. doesnt review, & lectures as if we're already supposed to know everything. no hw. 3 tests & the final make up your grade. gets off-topic alot. teaches us concepts&formulas we dont need in trig.
This teacher is awesome smart yells alot sometimes tesches barefoot,
She get off topic a bit but I find her somewhat funny. She teaches by example and explains every step. She also teaches different methods so if one doesn't work for you the other will. As long as you stop her she will explain anything you need her too while she teaching. I enjoyed her class very much.
at times she is lazy. her classes are kinda of boring. she will joke around sometimes. if u ask her to repeat, she will. but make sure u do because she will keep going and u WILL get confuse.
She's may be smart but she does not know how to teach very well. She does example from the book, which is great, but when she is explaining a new lesson or formula, it isn't very concise. She has her own way of solving things so if you look at the book you might be a bit confused. At least she tries and makes jokes in class.
I have never had a grade lower than an A in a Math class before I took her. She gave me a C. The only C in my entire math sequence. I love math but the way she teaches it is just so PAINFUL. Way to go damaging my perfect record...
Prof Evensizer may not be the most likable person, but she is a good math teacher. She is very particular about the way she grades the tests, you will get marked off for not labeling units, etc. but her tests are easy if you understand the class work. Homework is optional, and I barely had to open the book to get an A, her lectures are that good.
Take Hinckley or London or Siebner or Beckett-Lemus instead. My biggest regret is taking her for math 170 now I have to sit in just to re-learn it again.
Jill may not be the most likable person, but she is an effective teacher. Does not give points for homework so your grade really depends on how you do on your test. Lectures are clear and there are no surprises on the test, straight from lecture. overall, okay teacher
Class grade depended only on 5 big tests, final included everything covered during the semester. Gives homework but doesn't check. Not so clear but she is fun, her tests are usually NOT the same as HW which screwed me over :( dont take her if you are aiming for an A.
She was very Hard to understand all over the place I enjoy math as much as any person and when taught right its very interesting, So far 3/4 of the class have dropped her and I might be next her style of teaching is very hard for a student to excell in and understand . Do not take her if your grade is important. Wish I would have checked up on her.
Worst math instructor I've had. After attending the first 2 lectures, I decided to stop going and made the decision to teach myself by the book. She is lazy, impatient and her lectures are useless. We only received 2/5 tests back the entire semester. If you like math, don't take her. If you don't like math...don't take her. I got an A in the class
This teacher is so confusing all the time. On top of that she doesn't really set any goal and her attitude toward math is ridiculous. Wish I would've not taken her at all
She would be a decent instructor if you had all day to think about anything that she says. Overall, She is not very thorough. She goes over random problems instead of homework problems. Also, homework is not mandatory. Nevertheless, homework is assigned. From the start of the semester, you will be assigned every single homework problem.
She is probably the worst teacher I had in my life. She does not explain the problems that she is doing, she just does them. If someone asked a question, she would give a sarcastic tone. The lectures arent helpful at all. She was so awful that more than half of my class dropped by the middle of the semester. She doesnt care about the class.
She gives sample tests, handouts, suggested practice homework, and prompt answers to questions sent via e-mail. What more could you want? Her class isn't easy, but it'll definitely prepare you for subsequent courses like 270 (diffeq). Anyone who can take good notes during her lectures and STUDY HER PRACTICE TESTS will get an A+ like I did.
Lovely woman with dark sense of humor... Horrble teacher. I believe she lost her passion after so many years of teaching. Expects you to know everything already. Lectures are purely examples hardly any explaining. Homework on webassign impossible to finish if you are a fulltime student.
This teacher is not very helpful, I dropped this class and took Taylor instead and I have not regretted it, I learned more in one day with Taylor than in a week with this professor. If you can choose someone else please do, I warn you about this teacher.
Expect to read supplementary material to really understand what is being taught in class. Her notes are pretty much taken out of the book. The book itself is pretty abstract, and requires some level of mathematical maturity to grasp. I would suggest taking Taylor's class. No homework is expected to be turned in or graded.
Definitely an acquired taste type of teacher. Extremely laid back, somewhat disorganized, and always behind schedule. Despite that, she's a great teacher. Goes over the material promptly and is VERY helpful if you have a question. Best part is HW is not turned in, you are responsible for your own learning outside the classroom not her.
She's a cool person, but doesn't make the best professor. Lectures are confusing. She'll teach you how to do something one way, and then say it's wrong and that you should do it another way. Easily distracted and gets off topic in seconds. She is very good with hand outs which do help though! If you can, take someone else.
Took her for ENGR9. Goes too fast and skips steps on alot of example problems. Read the book if you want an A
I took this course as a high school student, and it was super easy. Her lectures aren't too bad, she knows what she's talking about. She may have a negative attitude, but she usually speaks the truth. Just do the homework and if you are confused use the internet and you'll do fine.
Eng 9.... not a good professor. Only 12 people in class. But she is still the only professor "teaching" this class Fall 16 spring 17
During my course Prof. Evensozer was away a lot due to medical problems however, the time she was there she was a great lecturer and cared about helping students.
The professor wasn't a hard person to learn from nor were her lectures boring, she is very understanding BUT she would take longer on lectures than usual, which could be either good or bad depending on how fast you learn.
Shes not as bad as every makes her out to be, she teaches good and tells you what she expects on the test. Shes a easy grader and barely gives out any homework or work to do. But she is unorganized and wont give your tests back until 2-3 weeks later.
She only gave us 4 exams and those are the only things we were graded on. She gives a ton of "optional" homework on material covered. First half of the class was easy but she began to fall really behind on exams. Did really well on first two exams, really bad on the second two because she kept teaching new material and it became difficult to follow
Jill is a fine instructor, very laid back, not anal about dates or late work(plus she's your only option for engin9). I highly recommend to take math 220 BEFORE you take this class. Very little hw and an absurd amount of daily handouts. Tests were not hard but don't underestimate them. Yes, she takes forever to grade tests.
She's Ok. By El caminos horrible standards she's great. Pros, she's not a strict grader and she's very understanding of students. She understands the material and knows how to actually communicate with students. You can tell she cares. Cons, she can be very unorganized and unprepared. Won't receive scores until a month later. Barely had a syllabus
Prof evensizers a really generous grader, and she understands how difficult the subject is so she gives her students a break. The exams are moderately difficult, and she gives a lot of take home exam portions + an entire take home exam and a project that helps boost your grade a lot. Plus she makes the (not cumulative) final easy. Also very funny.
Ms. Evensizer's lectures were the most relaxed of the math courses I've taken so far. Calculus is difficult, and she acknowledges this by simplifying difficult concepts to ensure students understand. She likes to throw out jokes. Some are corny, but I appreciated this. I highly encourage getting help from her; she's very knowledgable and practical.
Her classes are very boring, also we were incredibly behind by the first week so that should say something. Not very organized and still hasnt put in any grades until the second to last week of school. DO NOT ENROLL IN HER CLASS.
Horrible. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. She accuses all her students of cheating and fails them for it. Not to mention her horrible boring lectures and rude, degrading comments on tests. There were only four assignments for the whole semester yet she could not find time to grade them until after the semester was over.
Dont take Evensizer. Shes extremely rude with her students and makes fun of them for not understanding something. She also didnt grade 3 of the 4 assignments we had until the end of the semester.
Avoid this teacher at all cost. late to teach material as well as graded 3 tests at the end of semster
I would rate her a zero if I could. She is absolutely horrible. We were only graded on 4 exams the whole semester and she barely graded the 2nd exam until after the semester was already over. I did not know my grade the whole semester. She is disorganized, rude, and makes students feel bad for not knowing material she cant even teach.
Prof. Evensizer is alright at what she does. She can break down hard concepts into simple terms and answer your questions. She loses a few stars by me because she returns exams nearly months later, is disorganized, and is occasionally condescending toward people who are confused. Other than that, she makes for a decent instructor with quirky humor.
Professor Evensizer, I would say is very kind and somewhat humorous, however the way she teaches does not work for me. She often skips over steps assuming the class would know the information already. Definitely not for you if you don't learn this way. The workload is pretty okay, grades mostly depend on the projects she gives. HW is not collected.
Terrible. Failed the class and accused almost all the students of cheating. Her lectures are exhausting five hours each class. She is condescending, rude, and degrades students for asking questions. Frequently calls students idiots. Unorganized. Gets distracted easily. Rude and classless.
