This is one tough lady. Good person, but very tough teacher. Expects students to learn most things on there own. Doesn't actually teach concepts.
She expects you to learn most of your work like she did, on your own! It's very difficult, she doesn't offer much support or help. On assignments she isn't very specific about what she's looking for. However, she is very funny and seems nice.
This woman should NOT be a teacher! She explains nothing. She has actually yelled at students asking her for help. She is currently under investigation by the assistant dean. Unfortunately, she's the only teacher for certain classes.
She is hard, but my grade is a lot better than I expected, she is a nice person (most of the time)but you learn the material on your own
She doesn't explain anything, and doesn't care what you don't know she doesn't want to help. Even if you have a valid argument she doesn't want to listen.
Jill is mellowing out as the semester goes on. She is hard, not too clear on instructions, but she's becoming more and more helpful as time goes on.
Doesn't come prepared and seems a little unorganized. She HAS mellowed, but she still isn't that student friendly. Seems like she is a little burned out and needs to take a step back and look at her teaching style.
She is a terrible representation of a teacher. She is never prepared, and she will not help you if you have questions. If you take a class from her be assured you are paying her for you to teach yourself. Good luck
Very unhelpful and confusing. She does NOTHING to help her students. She can't answer any questions because her TA does everything for her. Grades very unfairly and plays favorites. P.S. I got an A and I hate her this much.
Jill is a great teacher. She makes you bust your ass to find an answer. I have come to appreciate this quality in a teacher very much. Jill wants you to do the leg work so that you learn and find things out for yourself. She's the best teacher.
I think the fact she is no longer allowed to teach anything but Business Law (and the English Dept. was more than happy to get rid of her) says a lot. She is the worst instructor I have had at UVSC. If she weren't tenured, she would be gone. Too bad.
Good teaching ability. Easy to understand
She is a horrible teacher!! If 95% of the class does bad on the test, we just understood it wrong!! No try your an aweful teacher!! The average in my clas is a LOW C, that should say something!!! Don't take it from her she is the most arrogant, narrow-minded professor I have ever had!!!
She only goes by her little power points which are straight out of the book. She doesn't really have any of her own explanations for what concepts mean. She's too lazy to write her own tests and doesn't give us any slack when the class gets an average of 68%.
Worst excuse for a teacher at UVSC. What's they saying? "Those who can, DO; those who can't, TEACH." Well, she can't do either. Why is she even still teaching? She gives the school a bad name...no credibility.
2 words "Hugh Rode". Okay maybe a little more that 2 words. But seriously take Hugh Rode if you have to have Business Law. The subject matter is tough, it deserves more explaination than she gives it. In regard to what someone else wrote - She is not Tenured, whe is here because they like her.
the class is hard and the test take a really long time but i thought she was good if it's anyworth to you
She was a fair teacher, she expected you to do your work. She is not very flexible, but has some extra credit. I missed two complete test and still passed. I would recomend her.
hard teacher and hard tests
Jill is a great teacher. You bust your balls in her class. She expects a ton out of you. You definitely learn your material. You do all work on your own....Very worthwhile class. Great lady.
She is a very bad teacher and doesn't care about her students. She doesn't help and she is rude.
not a very good teacher and the test are awful. You cannot study for them.
I really like how she brought guests in but the only reason you go to class is to take a quiz. I don't think that a lawyer could pass her tests. It is impossible to get a good grade in this class. You have nothing to study and tests take 5 hours.
OMG, HOW this woman ever got "Educator of the Year" is BEYOND ME, especially if it is based on student input. She is the one of the worst instructors I've ever had. Plan on teaching YOURSELF because you won't get ANY help from her lazy ass!
I don't really see why she's is still teaching. She doesn't teach anything, she just reads her PowerPoint presentations to the class. Her tests are pretty tough and somehow I got a B+ in the class and was in the top five people of the class. Her grading doesn't make sense. Hugh Rode came in to teach us a couple times, that's when I learned.
Good teacher, tests are hard but I liked the class. She is nice
This class was interesting, however jill has a hard time answering questions and never gives you a straight answer. And when you ask her the next day she still has no answer. Out of our class of almost 85 people only two got a B, and they worked very hard. No matter how hard you study the tests are never what you study for. Not reccomended.
I should have taken the class from my Dad who teaches business law in Salt Lake. He is also a practicing lawyer. When I showed him her final (which was take home) he couldn't believe how ambiguous, unclear, and mainly unintelligable the questions were. She blaims the questions on "the PhD's who wrote them" but still defends them with all her might.
she is super cool teacher. I really liked her class. However, it was a very hard class. You need to work very hard. It was a pain
She is the worst teacher at UVSC. She hasn't taught me anything. I dread her classes every week.
She should not be a teacher. She is horrible. Do NOT take any classes from her! She doesn't even know what she is teaching, she always has to look up the answers to everyones questions and then she will come back later and tell us that she told us the wrong thing. She is very hard and a horrible teacher!
She is a horrible teacher. Find somewhere else to take the class.
Jill Jasperson is the biggest moron i have ever met. She is the WORST teacher teaching at UVSC. Dont take her class if you dont have to. I HATE HER.
Wow, terrible. She still has a job because....?
This has to be the worst teacher here. Obviously she has made tenure so we're all doomed. Take any class from anyone other than her ugly ass!
These other people are idiots, I loved her class, she is the best teacher i have had at UVSC she is so fun and makes the learning experience interesting and comfortable, I loved every day of her class. It is a hard class but welcome to a LAW class.
So, call someone an idiot because they don't agree with YOU. I had her for 3 LAW classes (because there were no other options) and she was HORRIBLE in all 3 (I got A's so that isn't it). She sucked as a lawyer, so now she teaches, and she sucks even worse at that. Why she is still there is a mystery to the vast majority who have suffered through
Jill was very organized and helpful during this class. She was availabe to student before and after class and was willing to listen to our ideas and thoughts even if they conflicted with hers. She was great!
Terrible. Jill has the best intentions as a teacher but she has no teaching skills. She gives tons of work and doesn't explain what she wants. Classes are boring and instruction is pitiful. After receiving an assignment it is 100% up to you to figure out A) what she really wants done B) how to do it. I switched majors to avoid taking her class
This class is easy and the teacher seems to be hard but honestly she isn't that bad. The class just has bad orginization. People complain because they are used to being spoon fed everything. Open your freaking book and study, teach yourself. That is how it is done in the real world.
I read the bad rating most students gave her, but after taking her class, I think most of the poor ratings were wrong. She's not an easy A, but if you attend her class each time, read the chapters, take the service project (or presentation) seriously, & take your time on the open-book tests, you can earn a good grade (I got an A). Good luck!
She was nice, just hard to understand sometimes. Tests are easy if you go to class and read the book. The tests are open book.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. She was very fair and very clear in her teaching. Class is a "MUST" ... and tests are easy if you go to class. She taught clearly and set clear guidelines to pass her class.
Not my favorite teacher. I got an A but I didn't like the class. She gives assignments but doesn't tell you what she expects. She is not clear in her assignments are her quizzes.
She was a good teacher. Open book tests are a little hard. I learned a lot & final project helped my grade a lot. Would recommend her.
I have now been subjected to two of her neausiating classes. She is TOTALLY unprepared EVERYTIME!!! And would it kill her to NOT read VERBATUM from what's on the screen!!!! Zzzzzz.... If you can avoid it at all, don't take classes from Jill!
Jill is a really good teacher. She really knows how to use examples to clarify things. It was hard, but if you put in effort, you will get a good grade. She is really funny too. Enjoyed the class.
This was my favorite class this semester. She has a fun easy teaching style. Quizes are way easy half with groups. Tests are open book in testing center! She offers service hours as a final project instead of a 10 page paper. As good as it gets!
I loved Jill's class! She made it fun and enjoyable. Quizes were mostly group, love that! Test's were all open book. Jill was also very funny and would remember everyone's name! Very impressive.
she was horrible!!!
Jill was super nice but the problem with this class is that the curriculum has changed. It's now run by a department chair and individual professors have no say in it. This causes confusion and frustration.
Considering this is a 2 credit class the amount of work we had to do was more like a 4 credit class..... The quizes you take you can't get back to study from, but if you do the endless amount of slides and read the book then you will do fine in her class. Watch out for the 2 major research projects though!!! WILL NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER AGAIN!!!
Good teacher. she taught very well. Easy class. You must go to every class, because there is a simple T/F quiz every time. Easy A
If you take her class my advice to you is to just bring your book and study for the test the whole time she is talking. The only thing that matters are the tests and she does not prepare you for them. You can study her slides and "study guides" all you want but when your taking the test you'll be unprepared. Use the book
Great class to learn about law. Very relevant and applicable to real life. It's class is all about tests. Pay attention in class, read the chapters and you will do alright. No promises though
Good class, lectures were good for the most part. I learned a lot and found the class really interesting. She is pretty good teacher!
I thought this was a great class. The tests are a little difficult, but that should be expected for college. I loved her examples and I thought she taught well. There is a quiz every class that she gives you a study guide prior to for each one and it has all the answers on it. I just looked it over the day of class and got 4's or 5's on all
She is unwilling to work with students to help them achieve a good grade, even for students that work hard in her class and have had a unforeseen issues.
This site is to rate the professor not the class. As an educator, she does not educate at all. You have to do everything on your own and if you fall behind, you might as well drop it because she will not help you out at all. She should not be teaching at all. OH wait, she isn't so she might be in the right place.
I thought she was helpful and responded quickly to my e-mails. Provides study guides for exams, and overall I felt she made her expectations for the course very clear. The class is a difficult class so be prepared to study and do your reading, but as long as you put in the effort you should get a decent grade. Only quizzes and exams no homework
You literally can't rate prof. Jasperson, because she didn't do anything! You get a book, read the chapters that are on the test, hope you studied hard enough, and then take ridiculously hard tests. She never chimes in! 4 tests are 85% of your grade, 13 quizzes are the other 15%. DON'T take this class from her if you can, or at least not online.
This class may not be the easiest, but Jill is very understanding in every situation I've seen. She wants you to succeed and wants you to learn the content. The exams are a bit weird, but that's the fault of the legal department, Jill will help you succeed if you try to learn. Read case study's and prepare for the weirdest names in the exam ?'s
I took this as a block class during the summer so the whole class was pretty fast paced. She did an ok job teaching during class time but not well enough. The tests were very challenging but as long as you thoroughly read each chapter and understood the topics, you should be able to pull at least a B.
Test's are all of your grade. This class is all reading. I would never take this class online from this teacher, if that's what you are thinking.
Online full semester summer class. This is a 3000 level course, SELF guided, SELF motivated, SELF taught. Jill is there to help you if you need her. WORK HARD and you will be fine. She wants YOU to learn the material. My final grade was less than 1% from the next letter grade. I went to Jill answered some exam questions correctly and got the grade.
Don't bother going to her for help. She takes her sweet time to respond. She doesn't seem to care about input from students. She does NOT prepare you for the tests and you're on your own for those. *lifts three fingers in the air*
Prof. Jasperson is really a nice person. However if you are wanting to take LEGL 3000 (Business Law) just know this is a hard class to take online. The tests were nothing like the chapter quizzes and were very difficult to understandpass. Now I have to retake Business Law (I got a D) along with many others because of the tests. Very frustrating.
The exams are practical cases without much relation to the theoryThe Professor as well as her assistant never answer an email from you. I would say that when you see her name as your professor assigned go ahead and change the course immediately
Her lectures are useless. She reads off the slides and expects you to know legal Jargon. Half the explanations she gives.. you wont understand. Plan on spending hours reading out of the book. She wasn't any help so plan on teaching yourself the material.
Jasperson wrote in her syllabus that she was looking forward to an engaged semester. But she didn't create an engaged learning environment at all. When I messaged her for help she was not willing to help. Tests don't relate to assignments or reading. Canvas showed the average number of q's missed was 20-30 questions (out of 60).
If you enjoy boring powerpoint slides, horrible test reviews, and exams that are filled with errors. Take this course from Jill Jasperson. She is the worst professor at UVU.
She's a really supportive teacher. Generally she wants you to succeed. However, I wish the test were a little more with in our realm. A lot of times it was hard to prepare for them. Maybe some extra warning on group projects too.
She is very kind and very intelligent sometimes hard to follow which material will be on the tests.
Took online class and basically paid $1000+ for a textbook on top of paying for the actual text book. Teacher does absolutely nothing, not even so much as writing a study guide for the final. Grade is all reading/chapter quizzes that you can retake up to 3 times and the final. Not hard, just boring busy work. No idea how to prepare for the final.
This class is a go at your own pace. That being said, do not postpone starting the assignments. There are over 115. They are all relatively easy. Read a section, take a 5 question quiz. At the end of a chapter, there is a 10-30 questions quiz. She is very sweet. Responses quickly and give great feedback. Final is brutal but doesn't count for much.
Jill is a great professor. She knows what she is talking about and she will do what it takes to help you get it too. If you pay attention in class then youll do well.
awesome class
The assignments over all weren't too difficult, I had a hard time with the tests though. The wording was difficult but she did curve every test because everyone did poorly (in my class at least). Attendance is important but every class period was going over powerpoints... a little boring.
well organized and easy to teach your self
Jill cares about her students and tries to help them succeed. There are two small group assignments. This is a self-learning class, so you read the MyEducator lessons and take small quizzes (you get 2 tries each). There is only one (comprehensive) exam, so study those quizzes to prepare for it. The highest score on it in my online class was 85%.
Honestly didn't mind the class. I did the reading and the corresponding quizzes for each section of the chapter. There was a lot of reading, but wasn't too bad. She gives multiple study guides and even after studying all of those religiously for almost a week, I BOMBED the test. There was very little on the test that corresponded study material.
You pretty much read the online textbook do the assignments get an A Only one test that is 30 percent of your grade She gives you 1% for SRI, and 2% for doing 90% of your assignments. If you got lower then a B then you didn't study for the final. She gives you plenty of study guides.
I will be totally honest. I never really attended class. But that's the way I like it. I can't speak much for her lectures because I didn't attend, but I love the way she had the class set up. From what I hear, its easier than the other business law classes. Get ready to read. I read each chapter twice before each exam and that always got me an A.
Easy and you can learn a lot. I did it in 2 and a half weeks or so. Got a 100%. You can take the tests and quizs as many times as you want and when you take it the second time all the answers are bellow. I read everything and learned a lot.
As I was reading her reviews from years ago I was surprised. I think she has improved a lot as a professor because she was pretty solid, her lectures was nice, and overall she was a caring teacher. The tests were hard but were related to the subject matter.
OMG! This class is so easy! Able to get it done in just a few weeks, only 1 test! I should've asked to take the Final after I finished the course bc the test was hard and the study guides were no help at all (That's why I have a B+ instead of an A). Other than that this was a great online class to take and get done quickly.
Professor Jasperson came on as our instructor later in the semester, but she was great. If you go to class and listen you will pass with flying colors. The assignments were easy and actually pretty interesting. The exams were worth a lot of points, but she gives you tons of resources.
This course is comprised of one test and a bunch of quizzes. The quizzes are super easy, and I knocked them all out in one week, plus you can retake them until you get 100%. The test was hard, but you only need a 60% for an A. Super easy course. Skim through the chapters before the final, and you'll get an A.
She was one of my favorite professors I've had. If you get into a good class that asks a lot of questions it will be a breeze. There isn't a ton of things to turn in which can be either good or bad. This class is almost impossible to fail; she lets you use notes on the test so there is no reason you should fail. If you show up you will pass.
HW was easy, but assignments/study guides don't help prepare you for the test which is what matters. It is no-note, and you only get one attempt. It is a little frustrating to pay $1000 for the class, then have to pay $70 for the online book, just to have everything be based solely on the book. If I knew that, I would have just bought the book.
LEGL3000 was so easy. I had a full course load and was worried but online is nice. Just crank out the assignments in 2 weeks final is COMP and even if you fail you would get a B in the class. Assignments you can redo until 100% same with quizzes. Wish all instructors were like this.
This class is at-your-own-pace. If you procrastinate, don't take this class. If you get work done early, take this class. Everything is due the same day, during finals week. There is 1 test, worth 20% of your grade. You can get full marks on the other 80% easily enough. There is every potential to finish this class early, including the final.
Easy class to get a decent grade, if you can stay on top of the many quizzes. Drawbacks are: She doesn't give out adequate resources to study so you might want to make personal Quizlets. Also if you are less than one point away from an A, don't bother asking for extra credit. She would have gotten a better rating if these two things were adjusted.
Hands off & I never needed to reach out, so idk what kind of professor she is, tbh. Class is self-paced. Approx. 100 5-question quizzes due the last day of class. Each quiz has about 1 page of reading with it. Final is 105 questions but she only provided one 30-question study guide...? I got a 96% from quizzes + 60% on final, ended w/ an A in class
She doesn't give feedback, doesn't answer questions quickly (or kindly), the expectations for the class really aren't clear at all, and she seems to think she is "very generous with extra credit" with 3 whole points of extra credit given. The class wasn't hard, but Jill is just not a good professor.
Easy online class with minimal work. Just stay on top of the quizzes and skim the textbook before the final. Also, unstuck study was a lifesaver for quiz prep! Overall, not too difficult and a great option for a credit.
The easiest class I've ever taken. Expectations are set and all the assignments are available as soon as the semester starts. Highly recommend taking if you need the credit.
