VERY GOOD TEACHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very very liberal. Class is interesting!!! A somewhat large amount of homework, worth it though. Take her class.
I got news for you folks: Liberal is not a bad word.Turn off the tv news, take Jill's class and learn about the 60's from someone who was there. She will show you that you can make a difference.
i've never had a teacher have such an impact on me. she turned me Buddhist. she has great music, great stories, great books... she interacts well with the class too and gets lots of input. its a really cool class that isnt hard.
Old Hippie, very expressive of personal views, unorthodox structure of classroom. Students learn from one another instead of traditional lecture/test. She had a large impact on my life and revamped my interest in area's were it had fallen because of cul
She has control of the class-in a good way. No BS going on. She is there to teach, and it is fun to learn with her. You do need to come to class, she keeps good record of attendance.
If you are willing to get to know her and truely challenge yourself to learn what she is trying to teach, you will do great. Go into the class with an open mind. If you are looking for an easy A, do not take this course. She can spot those types in a croud and doesn't like them in her class.
Shes crazy, but easy if you like to read! Shes biased, rude, and if you dont agree with her watch out!
Wow! I found Jill fair and shockingly real. She expects a lot and she usually gets it! I have witnessed some heated exchanges in classes but I have never known Jill to punish a student for having a different opinion. Be prepared to read and write and work in small groups!
very easy teacher, somewhat crazy and goes off on tangents of her own life and experiences very easy to do well in this class

Biased-shmiased. Why do people have such a hard time with the truth. Would you call Martin Luther King biased, or Bob Dylan? Jill tells it how it is, and especially how it was in the 60's, because she was there, and experienced it. Her opinions are logical and compassionate. If she is biased, so R U
Really sweet lady. very passionate about her subject. cares for her students. her class is easy if you do the reading and the responses (easy 1 page things). she has you three or four essays on the assigned books, which i enjoyed.
Jill is such a fun teacher. she makes the class learn, but in fun ways. if you want an A, you will get one. the class goes by really fast. i usually dont have time to look at the clock before she says Goodbye...i love you all!
She is very easy if you do all he reading and writing. If you don't do the work you will fail. There are no mid and final exams. If you want to learn the 60 and early 70's and the issues her generation faced then this is the class.
Ugh, I cannot believe that this college allows this woman to continue to teach! She is a disaster and cannot control her emotions. Entering her classroom is like entering the eye of the storm, be sure you don't step out of line or disagree with her opinions.
Best teacher I have ever had in my life. She is so passionate about what she does. She probably has the biggest heart in the whole world. She cares for everything and everybody. You have to read a lot, but her quizzes are easy if you keep up. Her class is fun and very informative. I love her!
This class was really interesting. You watch movies and listen to music almost every class. There's homework everyday, but nothing hard. You also have to write 2 papers, but they aren't very hard either.
Wonderful teacher and wonderful class! learned more in this class than any other class in my 2 years at this school! make sure u do all the readings and all the writings. easy class just show up! and do the work! not hard at all!
Jill ran this class different than most classes. We did almost everything in groups of 4 people, from classwork to tests. There were also a few take home writing assignments. The class was great, and I learned a lot. Don't take it for an easy A, though, because that kind of attitude is what will keep the strategy from working with your class. Read.
I was disapointed. She jumps around, expecting you to know what she is talking about, so those who are lost in the begging will be lost most of the time in her class. She is a very nice lady though. Very strong in her words, very driven to "make things right in the world." Participation in 1 1/2 hr. discusions has to be 100% to ace this class, so if you aren't very good on the topics of politics, or don't like it, expect to be nerved!
She is great. She expects everyone to behave like adults, no giddy high school nonsense. This is college. She makes you think of things that you wouldn't normally think of.
this teacher has got to retire. dont recommend you to argue with her. this is an american culture class but all she talked about was the 60s and 70s. she is extremely sensitive with her beliefs so be careful. didnt do anything in class except listen to beatles and her favorite bands.
horrible!i agree w/the person below. this is an american culture class & i haven't learned ANYTHING except about hippies. u can't ask a ? unless all u want are rude comments & get ur feelings hurt. makes u not want to ask/even talk to her nemore. she's the most rudest/meanest person i ever met. makes u read a lot. not enough time to do other hw >=(
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH A FULL LOAD! This class is very demanding and lots of BUSY work. This semester we read three books, wrote two 5 page essays and had homework do every week. Please take my word for it! Not and easy A or B.
I recomend this class to liberals. She is strong in her beliefs and is hard to handle the class of you don't agree with her. You watch a lot of video clips and listen to music. It's quite interactive. There's quite a bit of busy work, but she makes an effort to connect with her students.
This class sucks!!! I love humanities, but I hate this class and teacher! I learned nothing about American Culture. The only thing I have taken away is how she used to live on welfare and poverty and hates you if you are conservative or want to express yourself, even though she asks you to. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS unless you are a hippie lover!!
She is great teaches the real things to know in life

By the time the class got out, I almost looked at Jill as my friend. She is very passionate, and sometimes can seem a little too passionate and pushy, but I think she just wants to inspire people to be true to themselves and challenge what you know. There is a lot of reading and work, but it is stuff that you can learn from. Very interactive
Jill is very passionate about the material for human 6, which makes the lectures more insightful and engaging. She can be strict at times, but nevertheless what I learned in this class will stay with me always. This class was also very easy - IF you do the work (which there is a lot of). Recommended.
She is a little intimidating at first, but after the first few weeks of class you realize what a sweet heart she is. She cares for all of her students, and she wants you to do well... tests are done in groups and partners so there's little pressure. Pretty easy class.
very strong minded, can be a good think and sometimes can be over the top. I enjoyed her and think the class helped me as a person. If you read all the assigments, you will be fine
Best class i have ever taken. I'd recommend it to anyone. She is very passionate about what she teaches. Make you read and do the assignments! There's a lot of homework but it's pretty interesting stuff. Overall it's an easy class.
take this class. All of the work is based on your opinion. A great teacher and a great class. Do all the work and get an A you wont want to let this teacher down.
By far the best teacher at S.R.J.C. Do the work, get an A. Opens your mind to the past in hopes to change the future. Don't B.S. her or blow her off, she will see right through you. No final exam!
Thought I was doing well; easy class, group tests, then the report card. She gave me a C, probably because often I would correct and challenge her on her crazy positions. If you have any respect or love for this country you will find yourself at odds with this professor.
very interesting speaker, knows what she is talking about, must attend class or you'll be in "Dog House", many easy assignments, lots of videos and discussions, two 5 page writing assignments, she can be very strong minded at times but she means well, cares about her students
Jill is a great teacher, she really keeps you interested, and I really enjoyed the class alot. As long as you keep going to class and do your work, you will do fine. Things seem a little crazy in the beginning, but it wasn't so bad. This is by far the best class I have ever taken at the JC!

One of the best teachers on campus. She does a superlative job exposing the evils of colonialism and the fallacies of "Americanism." Someone said something about "respect for this country"--in the last analysis the truth is what determines whether or not we respect America. This teacher is dauntless, intelligent, and lifts the veil of lies :-)
The real problem is that she's allowed to still be teaching. Bias, horribly irrational/emotional with absolutly no standing. What do you expect though, of the litany of excellent teachers at SRJC there has to be a lower standard.
It was nice to learn the material from someone who lived it. Has biases like everyone else, but all she really wants you to fo is think. Great class and is highly recommended
feminist all the way! Strick in attendance. She tends to be pushy sometimes.Very prank and unfair at times.
She was the best teacher I have ever had. I learned more in her class than I have ever learned in any class before. If you are at all caring of the world around you, take her class. She is very liberal. Very smart, not a class for slackers. challenging but rewarding. Best class eevveer
What a bais woman! she only wants her opinion to be heard in class. no matter how wrong it is. She does not want new facts to be shared, this is bad for all those freshmen that don't know any different yet.
She is a great teacher, and a real person. What you see is what you get-no BS. The class focuses on the 1960's, and was very interesting. I really enjoyed her as a person, and if you talked to her she will back you all the way. If students are afraid of other points of view than don't take her class. It is GOOD to be challenged-it hones our beliefs
Never ever ever ever ever. Worst experiance ever.
Jill is an excellent teacher who truly cares about her students. She will argue with you if you express a differing opinion, and you and the class will be better for it. Stay with her, and she'll show you how much wool has been pulled over your eyes by the media, etc. A truly inspiring teacher teaching a very important class!
Jill is a very unique teacher in the way that she truly cares about us as students and individuals. She teaches her course with an honest desire to make a difference in our lives and in the world. She was always very kind and approachable. I will always remember the great investment Jill and her class had on my education and my life.
Great teacher! She can come across as rude, but she means well and wants her students to think about the world they live in. I thought we would learn about more than the 60's and 70's but it was still very interesting. The homework and papers are the easiest that I've done. Just go to class and do the homework and you will do great.
great teacher. really intense cause she really knows her stuff and it means a lot to her. she can come off as rude sometimes but just don't let it bother you, she does care. the class was so interesting and i learned a lot. u do have to do some reading, just do it cause its interesting stuff. image journal is fun and good way to earn points. i recc
very liberal and has a strong bias, but this does not mean she is a horrible teacher. I did not agree with most of what she said, it was revisionist history. However if you cant express your own view she wont respect you. She wants you to stand up for your belief. If your a christian whos not too strong youll have a hard time. she is a fair grader.
A WONDERFUL TEACHER. SHE IS FAIRLY LIBERAL AND FEELS STONGLY ABOUT HER VIEWS AND OPINIONS, BUT SHE IS MORE THAN WILLING TO HEAR YOU OUT AND ACTUALLY LISTEN TO WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY! YOU MUST PAY ATTENTION IN HER CLASS OR YOU WILL GET LOST! OTHER THAN THAT, SHE WAS GREAT! LOVED THIS CLASS
The real problem is that she's allowed to still be teaching. Bias, horribly irrational/emotional with absolutly no standing. What do you expect though, of the litany of excellent teachers at SRJC there has to be a lower standard.
kelly-moore is awsem. she is really easy going.
Very Biased and does have outbursts. I really enjoyed this class, because she brings up topics that make you think and feel uncomfortable. I found that to be the best part about this class. Highly recommend and lots of worthwhile reading. I learned a lot about myself by taking this class!
Jill is passionate about what she believes and teaches. She swings back and forth between emotions, sometimes prone to inappropriate outbursts. Deal with that and you will learn alot! She chooses excellent topics and readings for the class. The projects and debate are good but maybe a more organized way of having groups sign up could be useful. ;-)

Very interesting and useful course. Be prepared to do ALOT of work and attend every class. If you fall behind or skip a few classes, prepare to fail the course. Teacher is nice at times but very intimidating. Material is very interesting and was fun to learn about. Just show up, do the hw with some effort and you can get an A/B easily
Very easy homework, but some reading is required. Projects are easy. Sometimes teacher will go off on something though which can be boring. Also a little opinionated.
Jill Kelly-Moore is one of the most inspirational teachers I have ever had. I've never felt like i've taken more away from a class. Just read the books and do you're homework you'll be fine. She's none biased teachings allow you to make your own opinions. You have reading quizes on the novels but no other tests. You'll love this class.
I looked forward to going to her classes. She always wears braids. She lets you decide things for yourself, emphasizing many projects on personal opinion. Besides a few temper outbreaks, she's really good.
BEST TEACHER AT SRJC HANDS DOWN!! I LOVE HER AND HER CLASSES! SHE IS THE ONE WHO HELPED ME DECIDE MY MAJOR AND SHE EVEN HELPED ME WITH MY APPLICATIONS!! SHE IS AMAZING!
Very knowledgeable professor, assigns good readings and sticks to interesting topics. Extremely little to no leniency for tardiness or late assignments, but since they are all reasonable assignments, this shouldn't be a problem unless you're just lazy.
Very into her students& her material. She's frustrated with students acting like they're still in high school (you are making her jaded!). Don't take this class unless you know how to respect a prof. who really cares about your success! This class isn't easy, but it's eye-opening and I learned a lot. If you don't know how to behave, go away.
very good teacher, i really enjoyed the class. no midterms, just reading, some quizzes, videos, and group projects. did i mention no final, we just had a party and watched a movie. she is really laid back. i would take another class from her again, the previous posts about her are right about the few rules she does have.
LOVE HER LOVE HER LOVE HER!! Absolutely the BEST teacher at JC right now, she is extrememly invested in her career and her students. She is always open to students just coming and talking to her about anything, I did that alot, she has wonderful insight to nearly EVERYTHING. She succeeded in changing my perspective on my entire existance. Take her!
Intersting class, terrible teacher. She claims she is budhists, but she extremely unsympathetic and mean. Don't be fooled by her perkyness on the first day. She only likes to hear her own opinions spit back at her. Having never traveled to the middle east makes her extremely unqualified to teach the class. Great material, terrible teacher.
She is absolutely amazing. She will inspire you and change your life(27)
J Kelly Moore is a great teacher! The class has a reading load that requires keeping up: three books and a class reader with small response papers. No final exam just a group project. Overall it is really interesting and Kelly-Moore is really passionate in her lectures. The material is not boring.
Jill is an amazing teacher with great stories and a great outlook on life. She is clear about assignments and very engaging in class. She is somewhat intimidating at first, but as the semester goes on you will become more comfortable. She's great!
Three years into college and I can honestly say that Kelly is BEST professor thus far!!! She is knowledgeable, engaging, and her lectures make sure that everyone is heard even if the class is 50+ people.
Most liberal and one sided viewpoint I've ever seen. I have nothing against her, she's a good person, just has the craziest beliefs I've ever heard. Interesting class though. Kind of a "down with the white man" tune to it. A lot of white guilt going on.
I am terrified of her. If you say anything that she doesnt have the same opinion on, you will be humiliated in front of the class. Don't take this class if you like to answer questions and state your opinion. Other than that, she is very helpful with questions and students get to do a lot of group work, so it was fun.
Jill is so cool. She is intelligent and passionate, and lovable once you get to know her better and realize that she always has your best interest at heart. My favorite teacher I've had by far, loved her. :)
BEST CLASS EVER! Jill is an amazing person all around! Hands down BEST teacher at the jc. TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU CAN!! Jill changed my life for the better. She's so passionate about what she's teaching you you can't not be interested. Absolutely 110% recommended!!!!!
Jill is an awesome teacher. She is really passionate about the subject and she makes you passionate about it as well. This is the best class I have taken. There are no tests or essays, only responses to essays and the three books we read, and three projects. I lover her and her philosophy and I'm excited to take more of her classes :)
I have mixed feelings about this class, sometimes I liked it sometimes i hated it. There is too much work but I learned a lot. I got an A but had to deal with her rudeness and negativity everyday. Dont take if you wanna just slide by it is tons of work and reading but you leave with a lot of new information at the end. It was an okay class.
Jill is a phenomenal instructor, but has the expectation you will be a good student and act like an adult. Welcomes opposing opinions, but you better be educated on the topic or else she will shut you down in a heartbeat. I'd love to be able to take more of her classes if my schedule allowed
Jill is a very negative person with a bad temper. If you don't talk in class she doesn't like you. She will also find a way to make you feel stupid. She is not clear with some of her assignments. There's a lot of reading to do in this class so stay on top of that. Avoid this teacher unless you like being around someone who is negative.
Very controlling, rude and negative. And I was on her "good side". Students who she doesn't like are quickly dismissed and ostracized when they try to participate. I love middle eastern studies, but this teacher is one to avoid.
This class is very easy as long as you do three things. 1. Keep your cell phone in your backpack. 2. DO the readings. No textbook, but lots of books. 3. Go to class. The work is easy. The teacher is not the nicest but she is there to teach and she does. Lots of movies. Just shut up and pay attention and you'll be fine. DON'T GET ON BAD SIDE.
I love Jill. Best teacher I have ever had. Very clear and keeps the class interesting. I always enjoy her choices of text too. Received an AA in Humanities after taking my first class with her.
Easy class if you get on her good side, by always agreeing what she says! Easy A if you always read the books because she quizzes you, 2 projects and final project with groups(easy). homework assignments are easy. Just remember and dont be lazy to read the book! that's what made get a B in the class :/
She is by far one of the best teachers I've ever taken at the JC! She trully loves what she does and is graet at clarifying things when needed! Great mixture of lecture/movies/group projects/and book usage. Be prepared to WORK to earn the grade you want, but it's so informaive and worth it, you'll hardly call it work! I love her! And she's funny!!
Jill is a wonderful teacher! 4 novels and almost 2 quizzes each week. As long as you do the required reading its a breeze. Super easy and interesting subject. Multiple group projects so be prepared to work with others. She is an inspiring woman and I loved every minute of her class!
I cried on the last day of class if that tells you how much I loved it. She is inspiring and thought provoking and sincerely cares. You will learn about yourself, others and the world in ways you never expected. Highly recommend in every way, one of the BEST teachers I've had in any school ever.
I almost thought that all the homework assignments were going to be overwhelming with the reading, but the books are very inspiring/knowledgeable and easy reads. My whole class turned into that movie Freedom Writers, we all came together as one. Inspired me to be a better person to people and the world. LOVED HER!
multiple readings, films, discussions, group projects. great variety of learning methods. opinionated, really cares about students, and about opening minds.
I entered this class with a slight interest in humanities but due to a horrible experience with another humanities class I wasn't too excited. Jill goes above and beyond her job. she makes it interesting and she is passionate about it. its not an easy class by any means but she made me want to do the work and learn. The material is eye opening!
Best teacher I've had at the JC. So passionate and moving, and she brought me to realize how truly emotional, traumatic, and interesting the 1960's were. She is inspiring, experienced and interesting. Gives short reading quizzes, weekly (short) writing assignments, and two short tests on books (reading is required for this class. Two group projects
awesome and eye opening
She's the best teacher ever. You will get an easy A if you keep up with the reading and homework assignments. There are 3 books you need to read (they're all interesting book), 3 quizzes per book, 2 in class essays, many homework assignments, and NO MIDTERM/FINAL. I'm highly recommanded her.
Possibly one of my favorite classes I've taken at the JC. She knows exactly what she's doing. She tries to scare uncommitted students off in the beginning by assigning difficult work, but the class is really interesting and enjoyable. She effectively engages all students. Looking to see what other classes I can take with her. Highly recommended!
This class was amazing. She spent a lot of time and energy on this class so everything is ready for you to discover. Great teacher and wonderful teaching style.
One of the nicest and most passionate teachers on campus. She makes sure everyone understands the course, however it is a lot of reading, but her weekly hw assignments aren't that hard. She only demands a simple, typed paper without going all MLA format or anything. NO MIDTERM OR FINAL in her class.
Loved this class.. such a great teacher. i wish she was teaching the next humanities class I'm am taking. she knows a lot, and keeps things interesting. don't skip the quizzes you will not be able to make them up. and don't fall behind, because it is a lot of info you won't make it through to the end. great class and teacher.
Dharma Bums, Malcolm X, Sleeping Where I Fall were the retired texts for my Humanities 6 class. Jill is insightful, and is inspiring you to think! If you love to read, take the class! Jill also won't put up with ignorant comments, especially with sensitive subjects! Make sure to keep up with syllabus, it will be most important. Jill is AMAZING!
Jill was a great teacher who really has a passion for what she teaches. the class wasn't hard as long as you keep up with the reading, and do the assignments.
Jill is by far the most inspirational instructor I've ever had. Her recollections and life experiences are amazing. This class allowed me to open my eyes towards our society, and learn more about myself in relation to society. Jill has a true passion for teaching, and sharing her knowledge with others. Great experience for all students.
Jill is hands down the best professor I have ever had in my entire school career. I could go on for paragraphs praising her.... But I'm not. I loved her first class so much, I took them all - and now miss it...
She may come off as rough, but that is because she is extremely passionate about sensitive topics like feminism & colonialism. Strict but sweet. Be sure your phone is off and hidden. Grading is clear, do the reading and you will pass the quizzes. Everything you need to know is on the syllabus, if it changes she'll let you know. Oh, and NO EXAMS.
Jill is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She teaches in a way that inspires you to learn. Her lectures are always entertaining and relevant to the class. You can tell that Jill is truly passionate about what she does and her main goal is to ignite that same passion inside of her students. Take her, you will not regret it!
I hope your ideas match up with hers because if they don't prepare to be looked down upon. Never felt discrimination until her class. Because my beliefs didn't match hers along with a few of my classmates she didn't like us and the class could tell. One student in the class plans on filing a complaint. I liked her as a person, but not as a teacher.
Interesting subject, but a horrible class. Get ready to read multiple books and typed homework assignments every class. There are very unspecific directions for the homework. She calls herself an easy teacher because you don't have to take notes in class, but don't be fooled.
Jill was one of the best teachers I have ever had! She is passionate about her work and it really shows in her lectures each week. Show up to class on time, do the work, read the books, listen to her directions and participate and you will pass the class. She does not like to see people fail but it is up to you to pass the class, not her!
She is a good professor, but I don't like her teaching style nor the materials in the class. The class is easy, but I feel I'm not learning anything from it. Good choice if you have to take a humanities class, she grades fairly. She loves her students.
She is very passionate about what she teaches and she assigns a ton of reading assignments. Endless articles and so on. As well as, a tough grader on the papers we'd have to write. Other than that it was a decent class. If you're read for endless reading assignments then check it out. It's an interesting class.
I honestly did not appreciate the way she'd talk over the students whenever they seemed to disagree with her thoughts and beliefs. I felt very insecure to the point that I did not bother participating in that class. I was afraid of getting judged by the rest of the class. Also, talking about the election and all brought so much tense to the class.
I would do most of the work in class and she'd make me down whenever she'd disagree with me on some topic. She did not even give me credit for being part of a group project. So unprofessional, I was very disappointed. I would never take her class again. Worst experience especially during my first semester at the Jc.
Jill is an amazing teacher who holds her students on a higher platform than anything else. She wants you to succeed, but you have to earn the gradel. She has a strong opinion, but will never force it on you! She is funny, heartfelt, and truly the best teacher I've ever had. Took her for humanities 5 got an A. human 6 in prog. Be ready to write/read
Very rude and disrespectful. I don't recommend taking any classes with her. She also doesn't keep her word when she says she is doing something.
She is very passionate about what she does and it makes the class easier to get through. Not a tough grader but she can be rude at times
Easily the worst class ive ever taken at the JC. She is very rude and is not open to other opinions besides her own. She is very disrespectful and I would not recommend her class. She doesnt have a midterm or final, which is cool, but you have daily assignments which basically make up for the final and midterm.
It seems every class, we have something do. She gives no instructions for the writing assignments and then marks you down for not saying what she wanted you to say. If you want to take this class, take it for pass or no pass
By far my favorite teacher. I loved her lectures because she was so passionate. I could see why other people would not like her lectures because if they disagree she can get upset. But I liked hearing her point of view on intense subjects. She lived through a lot of the events she speaks about. Fun easy class!!
She's a plagiarizer. She asks you write an essay about yourself, open about everything, saying it will help her get a better understanding of you. She then says that you don't have to worry about privacy because she burns them afterwards for no one ever to see. Not only does she make copies, she wants to put them in a book. I feel violated.
This teacher is a good teacher, but she can be very rude towards students. Very confusing syllabus, not very clear. Intimidating
very passionate about her work but she sometimes gets mad at history, determined to teach the truth. very caring. no tests, midterm or final. but weekly 400 word writes up on a reading and reading quizzes after reading a novel.
I don't know why so many people are angry! She is by far one of the most influential people I have met in college. Super kind, sweet, helpful. She experienced a lot of what she teaches about first hand. Great stories to keep you entertained. Interesting reads. Writing assignments weekly, but they are not to bad. Loved her class!
Jill is a very passionate teacher which is super inspiring, but it sometimes comes off in a rude way. I found her interrupting students a lot, and I felt like an opinion different than hers wasn't respected. Interesting class, but her intensity sometimes was to much and she preached being open minded yet I feel like she was not very open.
If you want an A, you have to work for it. Th first couple of weeks is gonna be hard. No exams, but a lot of quizzes. You need to read to nail those quizzes. You can't bs it because questions are based on the norval. There are group projects, but it's not hard. Her homework is easy. Just read books, then write about it.
Old School style teacher with lively lectures, And powerful words. She can be a bit rude or standoffish if there is a misunderstanding but she is also very respectful and kind. Mixed feelings overall. Visual journal matters a lot, and just read the books youll be far better off than trying to pull the wool over her eyes. Outdated grading style
Shes very very passionate which can come across as grumpy. You just need to not take it personally. But she really cares about the subject matter, as she lived through it herself. Being open minded and understanding was key for me to be able to enjoy her class.
Professor Moore is one of the most realist teachers I have ever met. 100%!
