Great Class, just make sure to keep the percentage of each assignment in mind because some small assignments are actually worth a good portion of your final grade. She's a great teacher and did well with having to work online over zoom. I got a B but I could've definitely gotten an A if I didn't forget about a couple small assignments.
It's very clear what needs to be done in the class so there aren't any surprises. Pretty interesting class, I definitely would recommend it if you're trying to get generals done. Grading takes a while which is the only down side (mid term grades took almost a month to get back both times).
This class was all over the place. Sister Knapp is super nice and caring, but the class was hard to follow. You have to pay close attention to the lectures, the majority of the test question are from there. Overall, I'd avoid it but it's not too bad if you take it.
Jill Knapp is awesome! I loved her classes because it's clear that she loves teaching the material and helping students do their best. I was also able to connect on a more personal level because she majored in what I am currently trying to major in, so that made it fun!
This class was really informative and the expectations were laid out really clearly and well. There are lots of map quizzes for different parts of the world and semester-long projects, but it is all manageable if you are on top of your schedule and pre-class readings. She is a wonderful teacher, and I really enjoyed being in this class!
Maybe it was the online format, but this class was pretty disappointing. This is my major and I disliked the class. Dr. Knapp is really passionate but when lectures that are super fast, crammed in with info, and easy to miss comments are part of the test, the class gets old quick. TAs werent a huge help. Also, BREAK OUT ROOMS ARE A WASTE OF TIME.
Professor Knapp was fine, not the worst professor but not the best. The syllabus was messy and some of the assignments were confusing because the online transition wasn't fantastic, but some of her lectures were pretty interesting and she is very willing to work with students outside of class.
Professor Knapp was awesome! If your taking Geography, take it from Sister Knappshe seriously knows what shes talking about. She brings in the most amazing guest speakers into this class. You dont want to miss out. The class was difficult for me. Theres readings and a map quiz every week, so lots of material, but you for sure learn!
Professor Knapp is pretty nice. She attempts to make this class a little more difficult than it needs to be. Exam reviews are incredibly vague, etc. The material itself can be pretty interesting.
There is a lot of work outside of class. You need to read the syllabus carefully. Do the assignments, follow the instructions, study the provided slides, and you will do just fine. I learned a lot from this class, especially as I did the assignments. But sometimes too much information felt overwhelming.
There is so much to learn in Prof. Knapp's class, but be on top of readings and pay attention to the lectures. Prof. Knapp goes fast because there's a lot to cover, but the material is so interesting! Most of what's on the tests comes from lecture, and the tests carry your grade, so in-class participation is crucial. Take notes on a split screen.
This class isn't that easy of an A. It is mostly social studies and economics. Sister Knapp is a fun person, and tries to make it fun which I appreciated. The lectures are fast and a lot of information and the exams are very very specific. Sister Knapp and the TAs are easy to work with, but if you are taking this class just for the GE, I wouldn't
Sister Knapp is very caring and puts a lot of energy into the class. Tests questions were unexpected and sometimes difficult to understand. There was a lot of information and sometimes it was hard to know what she wanted us to be prepared to be tested on. Test questions were also based off of something she might have mentioned once in class.
Professor Knapp expects a lot of her students, and this is shown through the tough and specific material seen on exams. The most difficult part for me would be the free response questions on tests as they are hard to prepare for.
Professor Knapp is so amazing, she really pours her heart into her work. Her passion about the topics was palpable. This class is soooo hard, but it taught me a lot. 10/10 would recommend
Nothing else to say, I love this professor and this class!
I like geography, but I really did not enjoy this class. Questions on assignments and tests were way too specific, I never felt like I knew what we were talking about, and I have one more class before the semester ends and I have legitimately no idea what my grade will be because nothing is graded. Help is not very accessible. Would not recommend.
She's a really good teacher that helps you understand how geography matters day to day. She invites guest speakers to explain complex issues. You do need your camera on for online class, and in the beginning she did a lot of breakout rooms. But overall, really good.
To be completely honest I struggled with this class. The tests were extremely and unnecessarily hard. If you take this class, make sure you take good notes during lectures, and read the textbook. When studying for tests, review her powerpoints and study a ton.
As a non-geography major taking this as a general: I learned so much, but it was harder and consistently took more time than a 3 credit class normally would. There are weekly readings/quizzes, 3 (hard) tests, one book report, and a semester long project. Professor Knapp loves what she does, and expects students to work and study hard to keep up
You can tell that she genuinely cares about the topic and her students. She wants us to take an interest. Sometimes I felt that there was a lot of reading. Also, the class slides don't have a lot of notes on them, so it can be hard to prep for tests if you did not take good notes.
The tests are hard and everything is graded very specifically so be careful with what you say when writing anything.
To be honest, this class is difficult. You will need a lot of self motivation to do the readings and pay attention in class. The tests are detail heavy and almost double the studying time for other classes. Professor Knapp is a good teacher, but her lecture slides don't have much written on them so most of your notes will be exactly what she says.
just a lotttttt of reading which is dumb sometimes, but if you read you'll pass no worries at all.
She wants you to love geography as much as she does, but in reality it can get a little heavy because of the amount of details she includes. Other than that she's a great professor.
I enjoyed taking this class from Professor Knapp! Her lectures are interesting and she gives lots of opportunities for students to see real-life examples of what we're learning. The projects are easy and interesting if you can stay on top of them. My only complaint is the amount of reading, but even that isn't overwhelming!
Professor Knapp is kind and knowledgeable. However, for a GE class, this is a very time-consuming course. Tests are difficult to study for because questions tend to be about some of the more obscure topics and things discussed very briefly in class rather than the main topics.
Professor Knapp was very caring, but the class had a lot of reading. Lectures were slow and only talked about main topic. The test had very detailed questions that weren't talked about in lecture or textbook. It was kind of difficulty for a GE.
Professor Knapp knows her stuff! She's very passionate about geography and was good at explaining challenging concepts. For her tests, anything from the lectures and the readings were fair game, and that made it difficult at times. Overall, the class was very interesting and opened my eyes to the world
Decent professor and class! Not terribly difficult, just ya know, do the class and the work and it'll be fine.
Normally I love geography, but this class was not fun. She lectures at a million miles an hour and expects you to remember the most obscure random facts that she doesn't even teach about. Get ready to read a ton too. Not a good class.
Professor Knapp is a very nice person and professional. Listening to her lecture was fun and interesting even though the content was sometimes a lot. Not many assignments, but tests were kinda heavy and difficult. You will need to know some of the vocabularies well enough to write a paragraph by using examples. It was a fun class!
She was overall pretty good. Her TAs weren't amazing, and I had to wait for weeks to get grades back, so I wasn't a huge fan of that. The actual course was cool though and Professor Knapp did a great job organizing the content and explaining it thoroughly. I had a good experience.
Class is fine. Lectures felt really monotonous, but they had their interesting moments. Taking good notes and studying for exams is all that you really need to do to succeed. Other assignments feel like busy work but are easy to get full credit for.
Good teacher! Good lectures. Lots of busy work.
Professor Knapp was an amazing professor. She cares for your grade. Tests are worth 50% of your grade, but if you go to the review and study you'll be fine. 2 large projects and weekly map quizzes. Overall a great course. I'm happy I chose Professor Knapp.
I like Sister Knapp, I think I would have enjoyed the class more and done better if it was in person. I never felt prepared enough for exams, but I understood broad concepts that have increased my global awareness. Much of the work feels like busywork. I think you'd be fine not taking this class, but if you did, I would recommend Sister Knapp.
Lectures and assignments are straight forward, tests aren't bad if you review and remember things from lectures. Attendance is for credit but the lectures are interesting enough.
It was a good class! Fairly straightforward. Make sure you do the readings and watch the lectures and you should do great.
Maybe would have been better in-person, but for me I had a hard time keeping track of all the content. I understood broad ideas, but there's a lot more to the class, specifically the exams, than that. Don't miss lectures, and try your best to take notes (she talks fast!). She's a nice person but moves through material quickly, pay attention!
I didn't love the course, but I think I'd be down to take a class from Professor Knapp again. Wasn't a huge fan of some assignment formats, mostly the couple of big projects we did. Make sure to get an early start -- IT IS NOT POSSIBLE to scramble at the deadline in this class, no matter how good at it you are!! Seems like this is her usual style.
I loved this class and Professor Knapp! It was important to pay attention and take notes during lectures because that's where most of the information for the tests came from. The lectures lined up with the textbook and study guides so I felt like everything was really well organized! Just don't be lazy and pay attention and you'll be fine!
I loved this class, I learned a lot. She does move very fast in her lectures, but she shares all of her slides beforehand, which is really helpful. There aren't many assignments, but the assignments all feel really relevant. Professor Knapp is really fun, and you can tell she really cares about what she does.
Great professor with very engaging lectures. Lots of textbook reading.
Dr. Knapp is a great professor who made learning geography a lot of fun and interesting. There are weekly map quizzes and reading you need to do each week but if you put the time in you will do very well. I thought the tests were very fair and if you go to class, take good notes, and study her powerpoints you will do well. Great class!
Professor Knapp is an incredible teacher and very engaging. She is lecture based and will present you with a lot of engaging information. There wasn't a lot of class participation, possibly because of the size of the class or the difficulty of Zoom, so mostly you listen to her lecture. Not many assignments and hardly any papers but TOUGH tests!
Everyone that has reviewed this course is doing something for extra credit so that should tell you something... I got an A- but I would still not recommend this class. Tests on stuff that is randomly said. TA's provide 0 help in the TA reviews and take way too long to grade. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
I love Sister Knapp! She really knows what she is talking about! Her test are hard, but fair. Would take her again!
Sister Knapp is a great teacher and her class is so interesting! I am a geography major and she is by far the best geography professor at BYU. There is a lot of reading but it isn't really required but it will help you do better in the class. Her lectures are super interesting and she brings in a lot of guest speakers. Take this class!!
Sister Knapp is one of the kindest professors I have run into during my time at BYU. She genuinely cares about her students and is passionate about what she teaches. The tests can be hard, but she does a lot of things to help prepare you in advance. I really enjoyed having Sister Knapp.
I took this class during spring/summer, and it goes faster than you'd think. Be sure to do the reading before you take the quizzes. And be ready for tests that are suprisingly difficult.
She was on vacation for the majority of the semester, I feel like we attended class more than she did haha. But the pre-recorded lectures and info was all spot-on and the class was super adaptive to our needs.
Professor Knapp is great! She is super nice and you can tell that when a student speaks, she is really listening and cares about what is being said. Pretty much everything besides the lectures is done through the TAs. The class wasn't too bad, but make sure you read the textbook before every quiz.
lots of reading and lectures
She is just incredible! She really cares about you and always offers help. Highly recommend!
I took her class during COVID and so the class was completely online. If it had been an in person class it would have been much less lecture heavy. She still had good lectures and I was able to understand what she was looking for when it came to exams. She is really understanding and willing to help if you do your part.
Super nice and full to learn from!
Study guides don't cover all the material in exams. It's helpful to go over powerpoints.
This class was great! Even if you're not a geography major or anything, this class was very interesting. You go though each region of the world one at a time and study the physical and human geography. Each section has a map quiz and there is a chapter to read for each section, but overall it's not too bad. Definitely recommend this class!
Prof. Knapp's class is really interesting and chill. Her lectures are always interesting, and I felt like the way we learned about different regions of the world is well rounded and gives a good overview of different regions. Prof. Knapp is understanding and her assignments are really reasonable, but the tests are worth a lot of your grade.
Professor Knapp is a great teacher! Make sure you attend the lectures thought because not only is it a grade, but the lectures have everything you need in them to study up on the things included in the exams! Be sure to study as well. As long as you do those things then you should be fine :)
She gave great lectures and uses lots of visuals and examples to help you remember. Unfortunately, she had a trip scheduled this term, and we had to watch prerecorded lectures for almost all of the content for the second exam. The tests are well-written and align well with the study guide. Exams were 61% of the grade. DO NOT skip the TA review!
Sister Knapp is a great teacher who knows her stuff. Sadly, she was on a trip for what felt like most of our short semester. The TA's take care of almost everything except for what she says in class. The exams require deep understanding of powerpoints and not everything is mentioned in the study guides.
Sister Knapp is a great teacher and I her lectures are amazing. It's especially interesting to hear from the guest speakers she brings in. Be sure to pay attention in lecture to do well on the tests. In my experience the TAs were awful and uninterested and took WEEKS to grade anything so I wouldn't rely on them too much. But Sister Knapp is great!!
Say what you want about professor Knapp, she is very passionate about the subject she teaches. As far as I'm concerned, that's a good thing to find in any professor. She keeps the lectures interesting with videos, guest speakers, etc. Just do the readings, study the maps, and you should be good. Quizzes and exams were not open note.
Great lectures and interesting content.
Fantastic teacher! She is willing to help and work with you!
She is amazing! She is so nice and the way she teaches made this subject so interesting to me. I genuinely loved this class, even though it was just a general. Her lectures were long but she gave breaks. The class was organized in a predictable way. It is quite a bit of reading in between classes, but not unmanageable depending on your schedule.
Really loved the stuff covered in this class and the reading + video assignments, I learned a lot!! Online classes are impersonal already, and 1/2 of this class was prerecorded lectures so participation and engagement was not always great. If you have questions, be sure to ask them way ahead of time, TA response time is slow + assignments unclear
A very interesting class with lots of resources and opportunities for further learning. As an online spring term class, there weren't many difficult assignments but the lectures were long. Although there was a lot of assigned reading, most of it wasn't essential for the tests.
Big semester projects. Not too problematic if you try to manage your time well, and Professor Knapp is really helpful with keeping you on course. She's a great teacher! Engaging lectures.
She does not respond to urgent emails that call her out on inconsistency. She changes dates to assignments and adds questions to the exam that was mentioned for half a second in a lecture. TA test reviews do not help at all. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS BY HER IF YOU WANT TO PROTECT YOUR GPA!
I loved this class! Took during spring after not having school in a while. Was nervous about going back to school. The class is really informative. You need to memorize all world countries, mountain ranges, most rivers and cities. The TA reviews are super helpful (basically go though test). If you study and do the reading, you will get an A :)
Professor Knapp is very knowledgable when it comes to geography. For being an entry level class, I feel the amount of work was fair and reasonable in terms of time management. Contains a few things said in lecture on test, but mostly comes from study guide and textbook.
Professor Knapp is a great person, you can tell she's passionate about the subject matter and she has insightful and engaging lectures! Most of the test material comes from the reading, so make sure to do the reading! Sometimes changes due dates without telling (so pay attention!), and has semester long projects, so beware!
Overall I felt I learned a ton of not super helpful facts about the World's Geography and there was not a heavy concentration on World Affairs. Professor Knapp often tests on points she spoke about during lectures and information that is not on the slides presented in class. The textbook readings are overly long and it is critical you go to class.
Good class, I recommend it. Sister Knapp is a good teacher.
This class was so interesting! We learned about many global conflicts I've heard about but never really dived into. A great course to dip your toes into greater global awareness. Professor Knapp is obviously passionate and knowledgeable She is well-traveled, so hearing her experiences was particularly interesting.
Knapp is a solid choice for GEOG 120 - easy assignments, entertaining lectures, and basic exams that are easy to prepare for. The only downside of the class is that the TAs took forever to grade things. All in all, would recommend her.
A great option for geography! She is well-structured in her lectures, and provides exam reviews that correlate to her tests. Besides a few projects, your grade is dependent on map quizzes and tests.
Fun in lectures and easy in grades
Professor Knapp is great at organizing her lectures. She is also very open to student feedback. I enjoyed her class.
Did not enjoy Knapp's teaching style, purely lecture and I was often falling asleep. Information is thrown at you and hopefully you keep up. I've never interacted with her because she makes her TAs do everything. The tests have written portions that I think are ridiculous, DO NOT TAKE IF IT'S FOR A GENERAL ED.
Sister Knapp is amazing. I really enjoyed her class. The requirements for her class are clear. You have to do map quizzes weekly that are super easy. She is very kind and respects your comments in class and is willing to work with you.
I loved learning from Sister Knapp this semester. It really spiked my interest in Geography, and I mostly enjoyed getting more in depth about conflicts in other countries that I'd never known about. This class is only lectures, weekly map quizzes, lots of reading, and a few semester long projects (I didn't mind them, but they are work).
She's a good teacher and doesn't give too much homework but don't get behind because it gets hard to catch up
I learned a ton in this class! Make sure to prepare a ton for tests. She does provide study guides for literally everything, so if you put in the effort the class isn't so bad.
Great professor! Very good at what she does. The style of teaching was not my favorite because it was very lecture and reading heavy. Professor was always willing to work with student who needed help and if she couldn't she would point them in the right direction. Definitely would recommend to others to take this class from her :)
She is so nice, but the way that she taught the content was so hard for me to understand. All she does is lectures. I had to work hard to get a good grade.
In her class we were tested pretty much only on what was said in the lectures, so you have to be good at listening and taking notes if you want to do well in her class.
I like Professor Knapp as a person, but she makes you juggle an annoying number of assignments. There are lengthy required readings that you need to do every week, and she asks the question on the quizzes "Did you do the reading?" Luckily, the textbook is online. I highly recommend using voice to speech to save some time.
An interesting class to be more aware of geopolitics in the world. The fact that we analyze every region in the world pushed my curiosity in certain parts of the world. I recommend this class
Really interesting class to learn about geopolitics around the world! The textbook reading is necessary, but you don't need to study it for the tests -- take notes of what she says in class. Go to the TA test reviews!
Sis. Knapp is an amazing person and her lectures were quite insightful. That being said, this class is extremely lecture-based. 95% of what is on the test comes out of her mouth, so don't think you can skip class. You'll be reading a good amount for this class. There is a current event project and a book report due at the end of the semester.
You are required to do a lot of reading in the text book, but the lectures are the most important thing. All of the tests are to do with her lectures. Outside of that you will have to figure stuff out on your own because you need a deeper understanding of what she says in those lectures. Make sure you know how to take GOOD notes.
Great Class. learned a lot and wasnt all that hard.
This class was harder than I was expecting, so if you're just trying to take an easy class, this isn't the one. But it is very interesting!
Sister Knapp is nice but this class sucks. Her tests are insanely hard and she tests on "things said in class once". If you're taking this just to knock out a general pick something else. This class caused SO MUCH STRESS.
Sister Knapp was great. It's easy to tell she love geography but also cares about her student's work load.
there are weekly quizzes before the lectures. Do the semester-long projects and study for the exams and you're chillin'. good class.
She clearly cares about geography, and the lectures were interesting. There was a current events project and book report, and readings and quizzes every week. Tests are HARD. I studied a lot and watched ta reviews and often felt unprepared for the questions. Don't take this class unless you're ready for a lot of work or you're a geography major.
Professor Knapp clearly has a passion for geography and I found this class to be super interesting. Make sure to do your reading and take good notes in class as well as study for map quizzes and you will do fine!
Great professor, very knowledgeable on the subject. She does require a lot of reading and it is important to go to her lectures because she speaks what she tests on.
Professor Knapp is an amazing professor! I recommend taking her class, but if you want to get a good grade in this class, be prepared to work to achieve it. It is not an easy class but not hard either if you do the reading, attend class regularly, and study for the Exams.
Super nice person, the class structure was the most chaotic and exhausting thing ever. Has so many projects happening at the same time and over lapping that you don't even know what's due when. Super lecture heavy and she is so fast you look down for two seconds and Shes already on the next slide. Also, tons of reading. Incredibly test heavy
Professor Knapp is awesome! She is very knowledgeable and kind. Make sure to do your reading and study hard for the exam!
I truly think Prof. Knapp is a great teacher, even if her class is rather hard. she was willing to give me feedback on my projects, and even forgave me for cheating on a single question on a test. I didn't get the best grade in this class, but I did do my best, and I'm sure she thinks highly of me because of that.
Good and entertaining teacher. She does miss some classes for business trips so some online lectures. Tests are not too bad if you study you should do fine. Almost weekly map quizzes that require some studying and reading. Overall I enjoyed my experience in her class.
This class is really interesting. Make sure to go to the TA reviews before each exam - they go over pretty much everything you need to know on the tests. Most of the exam is based on what Professor Knapp says in class so take good notes, especially on the slides.
This class is very lecture heavy, but Sister Knapp makes it interesting. There two big projects due at the end of the semester, but the grading criteria is clear. Weekly homework is reading and quizzes. There are 2 midterms and a final, but the study guides are very helpful with what is on the test! Great class! I would definitely recommend!
Jill Knapp is very kind and respectful to those in her class and about the subjects she is teaching about. Very great professor but her teaching style just wasn't right for me. I like to be able to review what we learn in class but when most of the content comes from her mouth it is hard to take notes on the right things and review class that day.
Professor Knapp is super nice and you can tell she's passionate about geography. She did cancel class a few times throughout the semester for business trips. Be prepared to take notes during class because tests are lecture heavy!
Sister Knapp is a good professor and an extremely kind person. Her class was full of very interesting lectures, but they also required my full attention. Make sure to take really good notes during lecture as that is what basically all of the big tests are composed of. Test reviews are clutch.
This class comes with the option of doing lots of reading and you could miss class, or you go to class and you skip the readings, its a good balance, and the teacher is insightful, the TA test reviews are your best friend they tell you everything you need to study and everything you need to focus on, good class, lots of easy assignments.
Professor Knapp is a great teacher and is very passionate about what she teaches. The subject wasn't my cup of tea, but she helped the class to be more enjoyable. Make sure you ask questions when you have them, and there is a lot of reading. Overall a good class!
She is so caring and is really passionate about what she knows !!
the class and textbook were super boring and both mandatory, though you learn a lot. the current events project and book report are semester-long and just a pain. studying for the tests was also hard and time consuming because the study guide isn't comprehensive. she expects you to know EVERYTHING. I definitely recommend a different GE class
Sister Knapp is a good professor and kind person but I found this class pretty difficult. The fact that it's lecture heavy made it difficult to study for tests if you didn't take good notes in class. There was tons of reading and quite a bit of writing, and I found the heavily-weighted tests really hard. I would probably recommend a different GE.
Sister Knapp is such a great professor and an amazing person. Her lectures were so interesting and insightful. I would say the majority of what's on the test comes from her lectures, so if you don't take good notes, the tests are pretty hard. There is quite a bit of reading as well for this class.
There is a lot of reading and the map quizzes have a question from the reading that is usually vague and straight from your memory (no multiple choice), which I don't see as very helpful in the learning process or showing you read. On the tests be ready to be surprised with questions that weren't really gone over during the lecture .
She's an amazing person and very kind, but there is a TON of work for an intro level class. There are weekly quizzes on the textbook readings (which are very very long). Her lectures go very quickly and you need to pay very close attention or you'll miss something important. There are 2 huge end of semester projects that take a lot of work.
Really interesting class! I enjoyed learning about the world and I felt like Jill Knapp did a good job of introducing other parts of the world to me. There is a lot of reading throughout the course with a few semester-long papers/projects.
Loved this class. There is a lot of reading (do it), but it is pretty interesting. Her lectures are amazing (pay attention to them). The tests were multiple choice with a few frq's. I didn't think they were hard at all, but I know some people struggled. There is a lot of extra credit. If you want to learn about the world, take this class.
Professor Knapp knows her stuff when it comes to geography. The class is so interesting! The tests are pretty hard, but if you pay extra attention in class and go to the TA reviews you should do fine. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE GOOD NOTES IN CLASS. The class slides are available on Learning Suite, but often don't have all of the info you will need.
Sister Knapp is a great lecturer and you can tell she really cares about her profession! She did have to cancel class several times throughout the semester, and a lot of material on the test comes directly from her lectures, so try not to miss. There are also map quizzes due before every lecture, but they aren't too difficult.
Professor is so caring and a really wonderful woman, however this course was very hard. The tests are made up almost entirely of lectures/the things that she says, so it is very hard to study for them. I wish that lectures were recorded so I could go back and listen exactly to what she is saying.
Sister Knapp is a great teacher. She is very passionate about what she teaches. My only complaint about the class was the amount of reading/ homework load. It is A LOT for a general. The tests are easy if go over the study guide and have been in class.
Professor Knapp knows her stuff for sure. She has personal experiences in almost all of these countries. There are map quizzes that are very easy about twice a week. Everything on the test is on things that she says in her lectures so take good notes. There are not many homework assignments, but a few projects that are due at the end of the semeste
Sis Knapp gives interesting lectures. There is a lot of textbook reading, but I got by okay without it. The projects are very manageable and engaging.
Good class. Not particularly difficult but if you want to do well pay attention and take good notes during class. Lectures aren't recorded so make sure to be there.
I enjoyed the class, it is pretty lecture-heavy and can be boring at times, but professor Knapp is a good teacher and great lady.
Dr. Knapp is a great professor who cares about her students. You have a couple semester-long projects that aren't difficult but you need to stay on top of them. You'll learn a lot about the countries of the world and how geography impacts them. It's a really great class and I'd recommend taking it from her!
Professor Knapp is very genuine and kind, but her lecture teaching style was not for me. As someone not majoring in anything related to geography, it was difficult for me to put a lot of attention to this class, which will come back to hurt you. Make sure you study a LOT for tests. Go over terms, slides, and what she says during lectures.
Sister Knapp is a nice professor, but the problem I had was this class was her dependence on TAs. She has her TAs grade almost everything. The class was way too big for her TAs to manage and we'd receive grades on assignments about a month after we turned them in. Her TAs also grade way too inconsistently and are disorganized.
I did love her lectures, I felt like she was passionate about her subject. However the quizzes and exams were obscure facts and figures that were briefly mentioned in class and sometimes not even in the textbook at all.
It was overall a good class. Make sure you attend the lectures. Take notes on the lectures because most of the questions on the tests she touches on in her lectures.
Sister Knapp is a great person. I enjoyed her class, but I felt that she moved through lectures at a fast pace, making it difficult for me to keep up with her. It is important to attend lecture because what she talks about in class shows up on the tests. There are also a couple of papers and a book report that aren't too bad.
She felt like a high school teacher. It wasn't a very hard class. Just do a bit of studying for the tests, but there's nothing ridiculously hard.
Sister Knapp is so loving and such a good professor. Great class very eye opening!
the study guides aren't comprehensive for the test and neither were my notes taken from the slides (which were copied verbatim) which means the slides aren't comprehensive and she uses the slides in her lectures so her lectures aren't comprehensive for the tests. she puts random things on the tests that aren't mentioned in her slides or the book
the worst. don't take this class. tests are actually impossible because she includes whatever she wants.
Sister Knapp is a super nice professor, but her class was organized in a way that made it a struggle to keep up. There were lots of due date changes for the many assignments throughout the semester. Her tests are mostly based on what she says in class, so they are difficult unless your write down everything she says (not just what's on the slides).
The textbook reading doesn't really matter -- she tests you mostly on what she says in class (except for the map quizzes she includes one term from the reading). She is not very approachable, but knows her stuff. Take notes in class!! The TA reviews are super helpful.
She tests you on everything she says in class. Take notes! The TA reviews are very helpful for tests. She knows her stuff but is not approachable at all.
Sister Knapp is a very likable professor and she definitely knows the content that she teaches in class. It's a super interesting class. As long as you go to class, listen to the lectures, and take notes, you will do fine on the exams! I would take another class from her!
Attendance isn't required, but lectures aren't recorded or on zoom so you have to go. Take good notes. Assignments: simple quizzes, a few digital dialogues, 3 tests including the final, 2 semester-long projects -- a book report and current events paper. Great lecturer. Engaging, brings in current events. Interesting class, easy A.
It's super fun, and we had lots of in-class discussions.
This class is very lecture and test heavy. If you want to do well, pay attention every lecture. Tests are worth a huge portion of the grade.
Sister Knapp's class is a good overview of word human geography, and she makes special effort to include world events into the class discussion. Sometimes there are some stereotypes that are perpetuated, but overall she does a good job at maintaining an objective perspective on the areas of the world she is teaching. Great class, great discussion!
She has been my favorite professor by far. I loved her lectures, and she would let us discuss to better understand material. She explained things clearly, gave you lots of time to do things. Study for tests, because sometimes there are things on them that you briefly addressed, so remember the little things. She's the best!
She is always smiling and super sweet! The tests are a bit heavy and really hurt my grade. She does give a study guide before each one.
Sister Knapp is an amazing and insightful professor. The exams are not super difficult, but there are definitely some frustrating, trivial questions. Definitely utilize the TA reviews.
Professor Knapp is an amazing professor. She has been teaching for many years and it shows. This year she worked hard to make sure that we were always learning the material and applying it to the current events. There is a lot of reading and if you want to get a good grade just read, go to lectures, and show up for the exam reviews. Boom A.
I really liked Professor Knapp! She's super nice and her class is very doable for a general. There's about one quiz a week with a few pages of reading and two semester long projects. I definitely recommend taking her class!
Attendance is mandatory in the sense that you need to show up to the lectures to get the material needed for tests, but it isn't taken into account for the grade. The tests are taken online using Proctorio, which makes them easier to take on your time. Not a lot of weekly assignments other than map quizzes, which makes this a great filler class.
Sister Knapp is a really caring professor that is passionate about geography and the matters that are occurring in the world. The exams were slightly difficult for me because they were solely based on what she says in class, so pay attention. Overall, I really enjoyed her class and I would definitely take another class from her.
Sister Knapp is a great professor. Just be prepared for a more left-leaning class with lots of content from Vox. (it is an arts class). It's possible to get a great grade in her class if you put in the required work (attend lecture, complete the writing, do the reading). I probably spent 3 hours most weeks for this class, which isn't bad.
The quizzes in this class were divided into two sections. Map portion and one question about the reading. The map portion is simple, but the reading question was often very difficult. The readings are long and take a while to read. The tests are pretty straight forward if you take good notes and study a sufficient amount.
If you do well on the exams you will do well in the class. Exams account for over half of the grade in the class and they are harder than one would expect based on class lectures and TA reviews. The other assignments for the class are relatively easy and if you do them, you should get a good score.
The exams do not line up with what we talk about in the lectures. She zooms through PowerPoint. Expects you to know every little detail about every part of the world for the exams when things were not mentioned in class.
A lot of what is on the tests are things that she says and in the textbook, not necessarily what is on what is on the slides so that sometimes makes it difficult to know how to study. Overall the class did not take up too much time and Sister Knapp is really nice.
Sister Knapp is awesome! Her class is super interesting but it can be a lot of info all at once. The tests are lecture heavy so if you don't pay attention in class and take notes then it can be tough. other than that the class is awesome!!
Professor Knapp is very kind and caring. If you have questions about content or any concerns she is willing to help. However, her class is disorganized and hard to follow. Tests don't reflect what we talk about in class. Most of the test are lecture based. As a student with a 4.0 I still struggled on tests even though I attended lectures.
Professor Knapp is really passionate about what she teaches. I definitely learned a ton about world issues that I didn't know beforehand and appreciated that. The tests didn't really line up well with what was highlighted as important in class so definitely pay attention to details in lecture and the textbook.
Lectures were well done and utilized videos and powerpoints effectively. It was diverse and felt more engaging then other large lecture classes. Quite a few large assignments.
shes the kind of teacher you can walk up to after class, apologize for not doing the assignment, and ask if you can turn it in for full points tonight and she'll say yes. dont abuse that or you'll regret it- she leaves it up to to stay on top of things. if you do stay on top of things, and use the quiz and test study guides, you should expect an A
Professor Knapp is kind and knowledgeable! Her class is a little challenging because of all the information, but if you pay attention in lectures and take good notes, you're good to go. It's also a very involved and hands-on learning environment, because of checking the news, book reports, and participation in class.
Professor Knapp is great! Her lectures are super engaging! She explains things really well, and the assignments are actually fun. There are map quizzes, a book report (super easy), a current event paper (also super easy), and three easy exams. You can get by without the textbook if you attend every lecture and take notes.
Professor Knapp is very passionate and very knowledgable about geography. You learn a lot of cool stuff about geography and world affairs in this class. The only downside to this class is that the tests do not align well with what is taught in class or on the test reviews. Tests were the hardest part of the class.
You have to do a lot of work outside of what she teaches in the lectures to do well on the test. Put in the work outside of class and you'll be fine. There are things on the test that you didn't cover in class or in the TA review os beware of that.
Sister Knapp is an amazing professor! In order to do well in her class, you need to do your readings. You need to look up her study guides for the exams and start on them early. She provides slides for her lectures, but the best way to get the most out of it would be to go to the lectures. Most things she tests on comes from her lectures.
I really enjoyed this class. You have to put in the work; take notes during lectures, attend review sessions, read the book, study, etc. But Sis Knapp is a good teacher and will work with you; she also provides the lecture powerpoints, test study guides, and final exam essay questions at the beginning of the semester.
Sister Knapp tells you everything you need to know during her lectures. She uses powerpoints and posts them for review, so you can go over them before the test. Her map quizzes are always straightforward, just make sure you have read the required textbook pages before that. Very willing to work with you!
Sister Knapp is awesome! She is so cool and this class really opened my eyes. The tests sneak up on you, though. But overall, a great class.
Homework involves textbook reading and map quizzes, with two important essays that are assigned on the first day of the semester and due at the end of the semester. You need to attend and pay attention during every lecture - the exams are based on lectures, not the textbook. It is hard, but you can do well in this class if you actually try.
The class got canceled a lot and usually there are no replacement assignments. The grading was pretty relaxed as well. If your looking to learn a lot about geography and really get your money's worth, I would recommend a different prof. But if your looking for an easy class, this is the one for you
She rushes through lectures just to end class 15 minutes early. Also if you care about social justice (which I do), you won't like her. She referred to undocumented immigrants as "criminals" and in the same lecture she didn't know what ICE stood for (most people don't, but she's literally the professor). It's ironic that she teaches this class.
Good class. The lectures are super interesting and Professor Knapp is fun and personable. She does cancel class frequently and goes pretty quickly over topics without reviewing them again. Pay close attention in class because almost everything on the tests is from class and can't be found anywhere else before or after!
I found the lectures in this class to be interesting. However, most of the information on the test came from the lectures and can't be found anywhere else. I felt as if she went over all of the material super quickly, making it hard to remember and prepare for the test. She is a super nice professor. However, her teaching style was not for me.
She was very informative and knowledgeable about many world regions, loved this class. The Current Event project was a lot of work but you have the whole semester to work on it so if you spread it out over the semester it's not bad.
Sister Knapp is a good professor and really cares about the subject. She is super kind, but her lectures are very dry. If you need clear instructions, talk to her TAs. The exams can be difficult.
going to lecture and taking a few notes or filing out the study guide as you go over the stuff will get you ready for the test. we had about a weekly map quiz that was pretty easy to study for. lectures can get boring if you're not super interested in the topic. I would take another class from her. professor knapp is really chill too!
Professor Knapp makes it so that most of the stuff you need to know for the exams will come from the lectures which makes it difficult to find the information from other resources. She also goes through her lecture very quickly making it difficult to get everything down. She also sends out map quizzes on a weekly basis so be ready for those.
Professor Knapp is very passionate about Geography and I enjoyed her class most of the time. We talk about a lot of hard topics, specifically genocide, which is emotionally distressing. Attendance really is important, I wish it was a little more flexible.
She is super nice but doesn't prepare you for the tests very well which is an issue because the tests are worth over half of your grade.
Professor Knapp is a great lecturer. She is very articulate which makes the content engaging and enjoyable to learn about. Be ready to take lots of notes because tests are based on class discussions and lectures, so try to not miss class. Tests are pretty difficult, but if you take good notes in class and do the study guide you'll be fine!
While lecture info is important attendance is not marked. Professor Knapp is very kind and passionate about the course and lectures interesting and enjoyable. Study guides available for all quizzes and exams, which are tricky, this course takes some work but is doable if you keep up and don't try to cram.
Most of the assignments for this class are based from the lectures, so if you go to class and take notes you will do okay. The exams are a bit tough, even with the provided TA study reviews. Her lectures were informative, and I liked the freedom to chose what regions of the world I wanted to do my report and project on.
Great lectures, for the most part you can get all the information online from her powerpoints. She uses an online textbook, which I never even read because pretty much everything I needed to know was on her slides. I went to most classes because she goes into detail about her slides so you catch things that you wouldn't get if you weren't there.
Her lectures are interesting and enjoyable. However, her Exams were very difficult for me. There are many essay questions about very specific things. She provides the study guides for us, but you should definitely attend her class every time to prepare for Exams.
Sister Knapp really cared about the subject. She talked really fast so it was hard to take notes on everything. The tests are mainly on what she says in the lecture so make sure you come and listen. There were a lot of map quizzes, and there were 2 big projects do at the end of the year within a couple of days from each other.
Very interesting and informative lectures. Weekly map quizzes are fairly easy if you spend a bit of time each week memorizing the locations. The readings aren't terrible either. Overall, this class was fun and I learned a lot about a wide variety of places (and the world in general). Would recommend.
She offers a lot of extra credit, which is great! I don't think her tests or quizzes are too hard, as long as you prepare. It can be a little difficult to keep up with her while she's talking, though, and you really have to listen because she doesn't put a lot of information on her slides. Definitely show up to class and do the readings!
Sister Knapp is a wonderful person, but I did't love her teaching style. I feel like her lectures were less organized than I would have liked and hard to follow. Also the tests are a lot of what comes out of her mouth so I struggled with that. She doesn't put a lot of information on the slides so for sure listen carefully and show up to class!
Professor Knapp is nice, but she flies through the lectures, which is not good, considering that she says 80-90% of the exam comes straight from her mouth. Studying the powerpoints and study guide, which should be on the tests, did not help at all. Lots of projects that are a little much.
Much of the information that you need to know comes directly from her during lectures so although attendance isn't required it's very important. The tests cover lots of information and are worth over 50% of your grade so they require lots of memorization. Her lectures are very interesting and inspirational though!
Jill Knapp is a great and kind teacher. Her lectures are informative and clear, and she gives access to all of the slides she presented. She does give reading assignments for quizes, but as long as you read the required pages, the quizes won't be that difficult. Take advantage of the TA's and ask them on what materials are important to remember
She was a great professor and made the class very enjoyable.
great professor and fun class! difficult exams:((
Her lectures go very fast and about 80% of the tests come from them. 3 exams, mostly multiple choice, some matching, several essay questions. There's a map quiz for every chapter, usually 1 or 2 every week, so get ready to memorize quickly. She's super enthusiastic about the things we cover though, and I learned a lot!
It's a pretty dang easy class, if you prioritize the things that matter grade-wise. Don't waste your time trying to read the entire textbook passages, use the TA reviews heavily when preparing for the tests, and don't stress too much about the essays - just get them done on time.
Sister Knapp was passionate about what she was teaching and had engaging lectures that are insightful and applicable today!
Sister Knapp is a great teacher who cares about her students and is clear on how to do well. If you read the textbook and attend lectures you should be fine.
Sister Knapp is seriously a delight! She is so kind and is very supportive and understanding of her students. The workload is, in my opinion, exactly what a GE should be. It's definitely not a blow-off class, but it's fairly relaxed and didn't ever stress me out too much. You'll love Sister Knapp!
This class is very interesting and Sister Knapp gives great lectures, there are only a few exams but they are difficult and are based off what she says in class and the book so make sure you take good notes. Even though this class had some difficult projects like a book report and current event project, I would take this class again.
I really appreciate how knowledgable Sister Knapp is and how she is so open to understanding other countries and their culture. I learned a lot in this class, and the workload is very manageable. Just be willing to think critically and look outside of your own background and thinking.
I liked this class, however beware that the exams are tough. Use TA reviews and focus more on noting things she says. Taking notes directly from the slides won't do you very good. Overall, passionate professor, but hard to keep up with sometimes. Work with others when studying or you won't catch things you missed.
Professor Knapp was a very interesting and passionate teacher with the content. The only thing I didn't enjoy about her teaching style is her lectures are a bit messy meaning she jumps concepts to concepts and will jump back and then forward a few slides. So I just had trouble following along during class.
Sister Knapp was a great professor! You can tell she really cares about what she teaches. Attendance isn't technically mandatory, but the tests are 90% what she says in class, so it's important to go. The lectures do require a lot of note taking, but they are really interesting! Not much homework other than map quizzes and reading the textbook.
The material is clearly laid out and if you do what she tells you with readings, what to study, etc. you should get an A
Professor Knapp is awesome, she's sweet and caring.
Sister Knapp is amazing! The tests are mostly lecture material so going to class is important. If you download the exam study guides at the beginning and just take your notes on those then note taking is way easier. There is textbook readings and map quizzes but you can skim the textbook and the quizzes are pretty easy if you study a little bit.
Ms Knapp was a great teacher and the class was very interesting and will definitely make you want to travel. There are map quizzes which were helpful, easy, and actually kind of fun. This class was just the right amount of work and has easy access to get help. I loved this class:)
Sister Knapp is very caring. But overall, I would definitely not take a class from her again. There was way to much work for a general level class. Each week, you have to read something in the textbook, study for and take a map quiz, and check the news every day. There are 3 projects during the semester. Power points were very also disorganized.
She said most things on tests come from her mouth, but showing up felt pointless as well as studying the exam review sheets as the tests didn't seem to follow with either. Even with TA help I could not get a passing grade on tests, and I'm still confused as to why. Prof Knapp is super nice, but I wouldn't take one of her classes again.
She is kind, but disorganized. I was sick a lot throughout the semester, and she wasn't lenient with any deadlines, and wouldn't record her classes on zoom (even though most of what is on the test comes from her mouth). It's hard to get a high grade on the tests, because she graded very harshly. Her lectures were interesting, though.
Prof Knapp is charismatic, but I wouldn't take another class from her. She flies through lectures, and even skips some. There is so much reading, and she grades very harshly. There's constantly so much to do, and you can't even do work ahead of time because she opens the map quizzes two days before, so you barely have time to catch up/get ahead.
She is a really great professor and knows what she is talking about. However, there is a heavy course load and the tests are difficult. I was just taking this class as a GE, so it was more difficult for me than for someone who was taking the class for their major.
Sister Knapp is a very kind and caring person, but I often find her lectures boring and unengaging. She often reads off of a powerpoint and rambles on about unimportant topics. The tests are graded harshly and a lot of the content on the test you don't remember going over in class. We go over some interesting content though and you learn a lot.
Attendance is not mandatory but stuff she says is on the test. A lot of what is on the test is random facts that you have to dig through the textbook to find.
Prof Knapp is enthusiastic and respectful, but I've definitely fallen asleep to her lectures. However, the tests are not bad at all, especially if you utilize the TA reviews. Some things on the tests are only mentioned orally and not on the slides, so watch out for those (usually current events/geopolitical issues). Book review and large paper too.
Sister Knapp is amazing! The class is moderately fun and very easy. A good amount of memorization and reading, but the TAs prepare you really well for tests and the material is interesting!
Professor Knapp shows a true love of Geography. This comes across very clearly during her lectures. Make sure you do all of the assigned readings as well as take good notes in class, as both are vital for success on exams.
Professor Knapp is very kind and good teacher who is shows interest in what she is teaching. Her lectures can be unengaging but the info is interesting. Exams are difficult and have lots of information but the TA reviews are helpful of explaining what you need to know. As long as you pay attention and complete the exam reviews they are manageable.
I liked professor Knapp; she seemed like she wanted to teach us well and wanted to give us a good experience for this interesting class. However, sometimes it felt like there was too much content so the lectures were a bit rushed and so the exams were relatively difficult because any of the content was fair game.
Her tests are on Learning Suite so that is actually very convenient. Tests are hard but, she adjusted our scores based on how the class did though. I'd take another class from her. Lots of readings (A book report, daily news, and textbook), attendance not required but you might want to go if you want to do well, and lots of quizzes.
Sister Knapp is kind and respectful toward all students. She makes class a positive place to be. Her tests are difficult, but she does seem to want her students to succeed. The textbook was helpful for studying but not essential for class.
Professor Knapp is a good professor and knows geography very well. I had a hard time keeping up in lectures because she flew through the slides with several minutes to spare. The tests are heavily upon what comes from her mouth so you should go to the lectures. There are two big papers given at the end of the semester so don't put them off.
She is a good professor and I learned a lot in the class. The tests are online but can be difficult. I found that the textbook reading wasn't necessary aside from one question on the map quizzes.
She has clear organized content easy to find. Although participation isn't mandatory, most of the information and content that you will get will come in class from her lectures as there isn't very much on her slides. Either this or you have to find it in the textbook which is very long and not that insightful.
Professor Knapp is a great teacher and you can tell that she loves geography. She teaches mainly through lectures and a few class activities, and there are a lot of quizzes and outside readings and assignments to keep track of.
She is a very kind Individual, dedicated to helping her students learn and succeed. I had a hard time paying attention to her lectures sometimes--they're good, just not riveting. Assignments, quizzes, and extra-credit options contributed to the grade; it put less pressure on the exams. There are a lot of resources to help you succeed.
She is a great professor, and uses amazing slideshows that get the class involved in what she has to teach.
Sister Knapp is very charismatic and personable. Attendance is super important because what she talks about in class is what is on the tests. She posts her slides online for personal use, however most of the material we are tested on was things that weren't necessarily covered on the slides. Tests are hard and make up a big portion of your grade.
There is a 'lot' of reading, but mainly due to the class' nature trying to cover all regions of the world in such a short amount of time. Textbook is online and free. Easy map quizzes every week or so. Overall, I definitely recommend! She's very nice, understanding, and lenient. It's pretty easy to get an A.
Sister Knapp is very nice and cares about her students and her job of teaching us students. With that being said, her class is very challenging and often times it is hard to know exactly what is wanted from us students. The exams often have lots of surprises and overall are just hard to study for. Due to how weighted the exams are, they can kill.
I took this class thinking it would be an easy GE to fulfill a credit, but it's not an easy class. The amount of reading is overwhelming. I love Sister Knapp as she does all she can to help her students. However, I wish there had been more guidelines as to what we need to know when it comes to exams, they are very hard.
I loved this class! I've never been a huge fan of geography but Sister Knapp makes the lectures so interesting! The tests were fairly difficult, but the TA's tell you what to study which helps a lot.
Sister Knapp was a great teacher. I just found it a bit difficult to take notes in her class and pay attention. Other than that I really enjoyed her class. I learned some great things about geography
Dr. Knapp can be a tough grader, but you will do well once you know what she wants. Pay attention, especially in her lectures. Take complete notes.
I had a hard time keeping up with the class since it required lots of readings and writing papers. Also, sometimes, I needed to take extra time to ask questions of what I didn't understand from the class because I felt she didn't explain clear enough in the class. But overall, she was really kind and willing to help when I approached her.
It was such an interesting class and I learned a lot. Sister Knapp is very energetic and you can tell she loves what she is teaching. That being said, there is a lot of reading and assignments to keep up on. There are weekly readings and map quizzes along with multiple semester long projects. The tests were also pretty hard and specific.
Sister Knapp was a great teacher! You can tell she loves what she teaches. This class was very enjoyable, although there were weekly quizzes and a lot of reading. The tests were also pretty difficult and near the end of the semester, there are many assignments to complete.
She is a great teacher and is lots of fun and encourages class discussion very well. One note is that she tends to fall behind schedule in her lecturing.
She's a decent teacher, but she assigns way too much homework. There's an excessive amount of busy work involved for just being a GE class.
Digital dialogue needs to go away, it is a vestige of covid times that nobody enjoyed in the first place.
Good class! Pretty interesting, and it's obvious that Sister Knapp loves the subject. There is a lot of required reading, but guidelines are clear for readings and what you need to know.
Sister Knapp is a great professor! I feel like I learned quite a bit from the lectures and she did a good job of keeping the lectures engaging with videos, case studies, and class discussions. Overall, I thought the class was pretty easy but worth taking.
Sister Knapp is greatand I did learn a lot. However, the class was unnecessarily difficult for a GE class with a lot of busy work and very specific tests. Always study more than you think you need to, and take notes on your semester project or it will be a lot more difficult at the end of the semester. Not my favorite class, but not terrible.
She was good, she was respectful to students and the class was not too hard.
Professor Knapp was a generally good teacher. I had her for GEOG 120 (Geography and World Affairs). She makes the lectures fairly interesting and engaging. I felt like there was a lot of homework and projects in her class, but they weren't all too bad. Overall it was a decent class and I'd recommend it.
Sister Knapp is great. Lectures are very informational and get ready to take lots of notes! Study hard for the tests, sometimes you will be tested on little details that were briefly lectured on and can be hard to recall. Extra credit opportunities available! Not much homework, except for some quizzes and a couple essays. Overall, great class!
Great class for me. Part of why I took it was because I wanted to learn a little about all the different parts of the world. Turned out to be pretty effective
Good lectures make attendance necessary to score well on tests. Did not read the book. Two semester-long projects (book and regional news).
She is an incredible person but is a little all over the place! At times definitions given in lectures wouldn't be clear. Her open ended lecture speaking style was hard to follow. But otherwise it was such an enriching class and she contributed to that.
Sister Knapp is an amazing person! I struggled in this class because my mind does not follow Geography very well. If you aren't a fan of a lot of textbook reading, I would not take Sister Knapp because there is a lot of it. Lectures aren't recorded so you have to show up to every one. Stay on top of things and pay attention and you'll be okay
I loved learning about the geography of the world but I have a hard time retaining the small little details, which is the majority of what we learned in class. As such, I didn't do so well on the midterms so I struggled with the class a little bit. Great teacher just not for me.
I loved Professor Knapp's class. She is so knowledgeable and can clearly explain all information in the class. Her lectures move very fast and it can be difficult to keep up while taking notes but it is not impossible. Professor Knapp is so considerate of each student's needs and it very willing to work with you to get your grade up and succeed.
Sister Knapp is awesome!! It's important to attend class, as there's a lot of information given in the lectures, but the lectures are really interesting. She does go through the material a bit fast at times. There's a lot of reading between the textbook, and preparing for the book report and current event papers. I learned so much from this class!
Overall good professor with interesting lectures, but personal I felt like the class was kind of disorganized. Also, there was a couple semester long assignments that felt like busy work to me though. However, I didn't study for this class outside of the reading and the homework, and I got a good grade.
I think that Sister Knapp is a great professor, especially for for time college students. She is very understanding, and as long as you go to her class and keep up with the work assigned then getting a good grade is not very hard. There are a couple of essays for the class, but she gives up plenty of time to do them, so it is not too bad.
Sis Knapp is a great professor! Her lectures are generally pretty interesting; however, she can speed through material at times. She assigns a lot of reading between the text book and current event project. Overall, this class is manageable if you stay on top of things.
The professor was very efficient at covering all of the content seen on exams and preparing students well in advance for projects and essays. Be prepared to memorize a lot of maps and take quizzes on reading content before it is covered in class.
Solid GE, but can be a lot of work sometimes. Don't skip class- lectures are NOT recorded, and almost all of the test question are based on them. Even the most minor details can be a test question. A lot of weekly reading, but the textbook is online, so it's easy to just listen to the assigned chapters. Deadlines are inflexible.
She is extremely kind and cares about her students. She does go through lectures and ppts quickly and it can be hard to keep up at times. There are frequent map quizzes that are due before class. All quizzes and exams have study guides that are really helpful.
Sister Knapp is very kind person and with a problem, she is ready and willing to work with you. She knows her subject very well but she also tends to speed through each lecture powerpoint a little fast. There are often map quizzes before each class starts, so that is something to stay on top of because the quizzes will close once class begins.
Amazing professor! Genuinely cares about her students and their well-being! This class can be a silent killer if you don't give it enough attention. Time consuming weekly reading and map quizzes. Exams are a little rough, no clear study guide, could be tested on ANYTHING said in book/lecture. Lectures are really fun and transformative.
She knows what she is talking about and is a good teacher. She is accessible outside of class and helps you if you are sick. You have to read the book before going to class and there are map quizzes before every class. The textbook is online but it is too much for each chapter. You have to study outside of class if you want to pass the exams.
Sister Knapp loves this subject, but this class was way too hard for a GE. I went to class every time and still really struggled with exams. She often sped through lectures and would sometimes cut herself off when speaking or mumble which made it hard to catch things, especially because 80-90% of the exam is from what she says.
Pretty good not too hard, lots of extra credit
Sister Knapp is super nice, but be prepared to spend lots of time in the textbook and don't miss any classes. Exams are hard to study for because such a wide array of material is covered but TA reviews will help
Professor Knapp is a kind professor. She is knowledgeable in her field and makes lectures interesting by including videos and pausing for group/class discussion. If you want to get the most out of this class, make sure to read the textbook and use the TAs as a resource if you need help on any assignments.
Sister Knapp was a great teacher: she knows her stuff and is good at engaging people in class. The tests were very difficult because of the amount of random facts and that popped up in the questions, but the test reviews were always very helpful. Great TAs.
She was nice. Tests were kinda hard. Take notes during class, it will help for the tests. Start your book report and final paper earlier than later.
Sister Knapp was an amazing professor, and truly passionate about her job! The lectures were information dense, but the material was generally pretty interesting. Her slides for class don't have much on them, so going to class is pretty important for being prepared for the test.
This class was really interesting and Professor Knapp did a great job of explaining the material, but more than 50% of your grade is from your tests so be sure to go to lectures and TA reviews. You also have a few map quizzes and some papers, which the TAs graded pretty harshly so be sure to spend a lot of time on your papers and edit.
Sister Knapp was great; she was passionate and knowledgeable about Geography. I learned a lot of cool information, but I was frustrated with the class because of how hard it was. The tests make up most of your grade. You have to really know your stuff to get a good grade on them by paying attention to lectures and in your textbook readings.
Definitely a lecture heavy class, but the concepts are very interesting. She is super nice, if you do the readings and attend class you'll have no problem.
If you like taking notes and attending class this professor is perfect for you!
There is a lot of reading for this class which I was not prepared for but, she makes lectures super interesting and you can tell she cares about what she teaches.
Sister Knapp is such an engaging teacher. She knows how to choose helpful TAs and is willing to help when you need it. Her lectures are packed with a lot of information, but at least in this class the study guides were posted from the beginning--letting you focus on what was really important in the lectures.
Professor Knapp presented the curriculum in a fun and engaging way. In this class, I learned lots about the world and the current challenges being faced.
The tests are graded by what she says in class so attendance is mandatory. It is not always clear what is important but overall the lectures were great and very interesting. Tests are difficult sometimes because it is not always clear what is important.
I thoroughly enjoyed her class. Attendance is not mandatory and she does not take roll, HOWEVER you should definitely come to class. Her tests follow the lectures pretty well and they were always helpful. Assignments due every week, but they were never excessive or demanding. Two papers due towards the end of the semester that were not hard at all.
Professor Knapp is great at teaching. I had a hard time but it pushed me. Learned a lot.
She was pretty good overall. At the beginning of the semester I wasn't a big fan because I am new to the subject and it felt like her expectations were unclear. But once I got the hang of it, I ended up really enjoying the class.
She does a great job at covering everything during lecture, but it can be hard to know exactly what to study for when it comes to exams.
Sister Knapp was great. Had a study guide that was clear on what you needed to know for the test. You NEED to go to class because so many of the things on the tests come out of her mouth so if you go and take notes you should be fine. The TA's are helpful and you should go to the test reviews. And as long as you do your readings you'll be good.
I liked Professor Knapp, I didn't really have any problems with her in general. I didn't love how project heavy the class was, but all of the projects were totally doable and not too difficult. The most important thing you should know about her is that she (or maybe just the TA's she had when I took the class?) is a really tough grader.
Professor Knapp is a wonderful professor! I enjoyed going to class every day. She takes complex geographical concepts and makes them easy to comprehend. She is great at encouraging participation and helping students with their questions. This class is fun, interesting, and super easy!
She is a great professor and really understands how to teach the subject
She is great overall. Sometimes she goes fast with her lectures, and you need to make sure you are paying attention. Many things on the test are just things mentioned in class by her. But she definitely knows her stuff. Very professional. Great class.
Sister Knapp is super sweet but this class was extremely difficult. It is purely lecture based and she includes very little information on her powerpoints. If you are a visual learner I do not recommend this course but overall it was fine.
If you miss lectures you're gonna struggle. Majority of test is from content only covered in class. Tests are difficult. Shes super nice, but its a tough class for an intro to geography.
Jill is super nice and friendly and you can tell that she knows and is passionate about what she teaches. She talks a lot and sometimes it is hard to follow her, in regards to relevant information that will be on the test. Weekly map quizzes are easy. Attendance is not "mandatory" but most of the information on the test comes from her lectures.
Really nice teacher but there are so many assignments and readings I was overwhelmed. A semester long project that you don't want to get behind on. Study for exams by paying attention in class and actually reading the textbook, don't just skim... Overall a good, really interesting class just a little bit overloaded.
Professor Knapp was awesome! She taught very clearly and prepared us well for exams. I feel like I actually learned information that is important and relevant. Make sure you attend lectures. Most of what is exams is based on what she says. Take notes and fill out the study guide as you go!
Professor Knapp's class was pretty good. Lectures were the be-all, end-all of the class. Almost everything on the test was from what came out of her mouth and off of slides in lecture. The TA's were good about test reviews and making sure you knew what was going to be on the test though.
The tests aren't very clear on what they are asking for. The short answers on the test are graded by a criteria that the TA's. It could easily be a lot more transparent.
Lectures have lots of information on the presentations, class is reading heavy. I was never sure what to study for weekly map quizzes
