She seems nice until she grades your work...Not helpful at all...Takes points off for not stating clearly what you mean...must use proper, professional terminology...study everything beause she's not clear on what to study.
I had Dr. Levin before I became a teacher, and, yes, she requires a lot from her students....but so does the profession of Teaching! If you are going to be a professional teacher yourself, do yourself a favor and listen to what Dr. Levin has to say....
Why don't you people quit whining like babies and do the work it takes to become a real teacher?! If you can't take the demands of Dr. Levin's classes, maybe you should re-think becoming a teacher..in the real world you'll be challenged every day!
Dr. Levin seems nice and communicates well with the class, but when it comes to grading she is evil! She takes point off of everything and anything she can find! She is not the example to follow for young teachers.

She is really nice, but she is a horrible teacher. Everything she says is not relivent to the midterm or final. She is a tough grader and she makes you feel stupid when you don't know something. Also she doesn't give any review for the final or midterm

Dr. Levin doesn't practice what she teaches. She is degrating and polictically correct about everything. She is EVIL.
Dr. Levin is nice in person but I did not care for her teaching style. There was no real course info. We were left to read the books and work in groups. She is a very tough grader and will tell you when you are wrong!!!
My experience with Dr. Levin was quite the opposite of what I expected....She was extremely helpfull and provided me with alot of useful information, She is hard on people because she wants you to LEARN!!!!
If you really want to learn about teaching exceptional children, take her!!! She is so gull of useful information and is very willing to work with you and help you.

I think professor Levin was a very helpful and considerate professor, you just had to do what was expected of you. After all we are in college. I had a personal issue that Dr. Levin helped me with in a very professional mannor. I hope you get that smile.
I enjoyed my experience with Dr. Levin. She was helpful, and always responded to e-mail in a very timely manner. She is professional about her suggestions for improovement. Don't expect an easy A, expect to be supported, and inspired.
I really enjoyed this class. I learned so much and really had a lot of fun. Dr. Levin is a great professor. Definitely take her!!
At first I hated this prof., but if you give her a chance she might surprise you. She was very staight forward and helpful. Don't expect an easy A. It's not going to happen. You have to work hard for it.

Very unhelpful and annoying. I never reccomend taking her she is the worst professor to have. I had her my first semester at St Joe's for two classes right in a row and I wanted to quit school!
I really enjoyed Dr. Levin's class. I learned a lot more from her than I did with my CS 324 professor. She really makes the subject interesting and I looked forward to her class all the time.

Prof Levin gave me mixed feelings. Some days I liked her and other days I couldn't stand her. She is not extremely nice or helpful. She also will penalize for something she never told you about on a project. I would not take her again.

Dr. Levin knows what she's doing. Her tests are tough and you have to know everything, but if you are keeping up throughout the semester they're not bad. Go to the class, do the reading. If she sees that you know your stuff and you're working hard you will be fine.

She's tough, there's no two ways about it. You will work, and she will be picky. But this woman has SO much knowledge to share. Make her like you-be sure she knows your name and for all the right reasons, and you will be fine. She will take care of you if she likes you. Speak up!

It's ashame to have prof's like her at St. Joes. She has a lot of info, but doesn't apply it the right way. Unfair grader midterm is hard, for projects takes alot of points off. Don't take her unless you want to work hard for the feeling of not getting anywhere.
Tough cookie..be ready to work hard, but learn so much useful information! Definetely a brilliant woman. She is there to critique you..and work you! Very helpful!

Dr. Levin is evil! Even if she is wrong she is still convinced that she is right. She is the toughest grader. You better have perfect grammar or you're going to fail her class. She is nit-picky and looks at details. If you can avoid her do so.

she is a wonderful lady. she's is very smart and only gives assignments that are actually worth your time because you're learning. her tests are tough, you just have to know your stuff. but she really does make you learn and she's really sweet and funny at the same time.

I'll be honest the class is interesting, the fieldtrips are fun, but the professor is very hard on her students. All I can say is she is a heartless person, she can be very cruel to people. She is not too clear what is on tests either. She does know her stuff though.
Her system of grading was insane - she looked for reasons to take off points, insteading of helping the students out. i would NEVER recommend her. she made a basic 100 level course extremely difficult and stressful.

She is the WORST person I have ever met in my life.She is cut-throat and uncaring about anyone's else's needs except her own! There is no need to treat people like the way she does.Its one thing to be tough but fair it is another to be insane & unreasonable. Appropriate exceptations is what we are taught for our students. She should follow suit!
I disagree with my fellow classmates. Dr. Levin is a difficult teacher, however, if you want the remainder of your special education career to be smooth and easy, you should take her for your frist special ed class. She is a stickler, but knows her stuff. Study, you will learn a tun and be better off for it in the end. One of my best friends now.

The course content is interesting but she makes the three hourse miserable. She's rude and does not respect other people's opinions. Her tests are extremely hard no matter how much you study. Such a condescending woman is right! I dropped her class for the summer before class even started. When I met her she was just rude and had such a nasty attitude. I could just imagine what the summer semester would have been like! I saved myself from having a miserable summer.

easy midterm and final, quizzes are more like tests, however they are not too bad. she has her favorites in the class and can be condescending however overall she is a nice and fair teacher...just get on her good side by participating a lot
She comes across nice at first. Her work load is very overwhelming. She will never tell you what is on the tests!! I had asked her if she could give us a breakdown on the final and she gave me the chapters!! WTF Ok So for 25 multiple choices, 5 fill-ins and 2 essays we had to study 8 chapters??? Avoid Levin like the plague!!
Levin is hands down the worst Professor in the Child Study department, possibly even all of St. Joes. She is conceding, extremely difficult, a hard grader and doesn't want you to be absent once. Levin is the hardest prof. I've ever had at St. Joes but I have to say I learned more in her class than any other class. Gotta agree with a bunch of the other posts in that she is a GPA killer.

Dr. Levin is old school, but very knowledgeable except she ALWAYS has something to say..she's ALWAYS right! Her assignments are VERY specific, but if you work hard and follow her guidelines, you will produce the grade you deserve. Her exams (2 quizzes- directly from the textbooks, 1 midterm & 1 final) are VERY difficult. You must study to pass.
Before taking this class I read a lot of these posts and was TERRIFIED of what everyone was saying. Now that the class is over, I honestly feel like I learned more than I've learned in any other class. Was it difficult? ABSOLUTELY. But if you actually do the work and study, you'll get a good grade. Also, I didn't think she was mean at all.
Not a nice person. Plays favorites, once she makes her mind up about you that's it...there are other professors that have more to offer than her. Rooney, for example, knowledgeable and the nicest person you will ever meet.
She expects a lot from you, assignments are very specific and the quizzes and exams are very challenging. You have to put in the time and study! Sometimes it felt like she thought we were kindergartners instead of college students learning about teaching kindergarten. She can be controlling and condescending but she will aslo teach you a lot.

The coursework was difficult (it is grad school, after all), but I feel that I have learned the most in Dr. Levin's class. If you participate, study, and ask questions, you will do fine. One of the best grad school professors I have ever had - I wish she taught more classes that I was required to take!
Dr. Levin is an amazing professor. She's very passionate about special education and it really shows in her teaching. She makes class very intimate where you really get to know your peers and always have a chance to share out. She's the only professor I have taken that knew all her students names and a bit about them. Class is very informational!
I did not find Dr Levin's class to be stimulating. She rarely allowed for class debate or questioning of underlying assumptions made during lectures. She took points OFF students papers for citing references in APA format, as this was 'not required.' If you want a professor that challenges u and encourages u to exceed expectations, look elsewhere.
Levin has been the hardest grader I've had in both the undergrad and grad program at St Joes. I remember leaving her class being so frustrated for bringing down my GPA. Naturally I wasn't thrilled about taking her again for grad school, but I had to. I've received an A in every course so far, except hers! She is out to get you. Avoid if possible!
Exams were so in depth and wasn't exactly clear what was expected to know. My first class ever at SJC and constantly participated in her lectures. Received a phone call from Ed dept to have a meeting for my grade where she proceeded to lie and say I received the grade I did because I never participated in her class.She was not excited to be there
