Stickler for attendance, favors drama/speech students she has had before, and doesn't explain things thoroughly. The classes are boring, and even if her point is made she will never let you out early. I do NOT reccomend her.

I would totally reccomend her. I took her for speech and I was dreading it. She made it cool. She totally explains everything, has examples, and just ROCKS! Yes, she is tough but just do your **** and you'll be fine.
I loved this class! She was funny, passionate, and most of all a great teacher and friend. Her syllabus is clear and assignments are easy. My best experience at MC. yet. The class covers several theories so you need to be a good writer & show up to class.
great teacher.

first off her name is mccal, but she does assign a lot of work and isn't always clear about what she wants, however she is very charismatic and passionate about what she does. and the fact that she looks like a 30-year old tara reid doesn't hurt either
Her name's McCall. No one wants to take speech, but Jill is awesome. She's a great teacher and cool person. She's energetic and funny. Class is fun and it's not so scary to talk in front of everyone. She also gives extra credit for going to speech events.
McCall is such an awesome teacher. She is very enthusiastic about her job and has great control of the class. She makes this class that I was dreading into such a good experience. She is very helpful in how she tells you exactly what is required.

Had her for a summer class couple years back. I do NOT enjoy public speaking, but Jill accomodated the class to fit each person's specific speaking phobia. Dunno bout her other classes, but the Intro summer class was great.

Shes a cool teacher and shes so hot its unbelievable. She dropped me for having too many absenses, but im thinking of taking her again just for the view
I actually Pulled My Head Of Out My Ass And Did The Work And I Got A Pretty Decent Grade, What Dumbass Said She Was 30...i hit on her cause i thought she was like 20...then she taught the class and i felt stupid...

Yeah, she is hot, and she knows it: She is conceided as heck! If u were struck by a UFO on your way to class, she would still deduct points for attendance. Be prepared to go to class everyday;no sick days with this Nazi
I am not sure why it is that you are focusing on her looks. She is a talented professor who shows all girls not to mention blondes that you can gain credibility not only based upon your appearance. This is college people, grow up!
Jill is an awesome teacher; I would totally recommend her! It is sad to think that more than one person would be so shallow as to take her just for the view. She really gets involved in teaching her class(es) and made public speaking less scary.
She was very entertaining and made the class fun and interesting. If you are afraid of public speeking I suggest taking her. She makes you feel comfortable. Great sense of humor. Great for a laugh.
Jill is very knowledgable and pastionate about speech. I enjoyed the two classes I have taken from her. Need new class for appearance she is very hot.
jill is a great teacher!!! just take her class. especially speech M04. it feels like your hanging out because she makes the class so much fun.
She's really hard, but if you just do what she asks then you'll do fine. Sometimes she wasn't very clear on what she wanted though, and then she got mad when you didn't do it exactly. Oh yeah, she looks like a 30 year old Tara Reid

She is a way good teacher. do most of her assignments and the speeches and you'll do great. if you are doing pretty bad there are huge opportunities for Extra Credit. over 100 points on her scale of about 1000. do the math.. that's over a letter grade
Jill is a really great teacher! She is energetic and makes giving speeches as easy and comfortable as could be! As long as you show up to EVERY class and do your speeches you're practically guaranteed a good grade. Never a dull moment here.

Take speech with her in the summer, it is so kick-back and she helps a lot and makes you feel so comfortable talking in front of people. she knows what she's talking about.

She is one of the most enthusiastic teachers I have ever had. She makes you feel comfortable talking in front of the class.

She is really picky. It is very nerve racking preparing for a speech for her because you have to be very particular. Also, she expects longer speeches than other teachers do. She is also a tough grader; very tough. She expects an expert speech from a beginning speaker. It's a little unfair.
Extremely beautiful and dresses to impress. Great attitude about what she does. Maybe expects a little too much but overall good class. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT! easy A if you try
No Comments
Expects alot, however if you do the work this class is an easy A! Makes you feel comfortable in class, this is a good class to take if you have anxiety over public speaking. Overall shes a very good teacher!
Great teacher. No one likes public speaking but it wasnt so bad. She made sure everyone was prepared for their speach. Attendance is required but its not soo bad class is fun and goes by fast and plus shes pretty hot.
She assigns alot of homework and expects alot from beginners! But she also gives out alot of extra credit, which you will need to pass her class. She is a good teacher, overall, but she totally thinks she is hot, which is annoying!
way to agro on grading, if your not a girl and in the drama club or speech team, goodluck getting anything over a c...i did everything well and still got a c
She is gorgeous and a very enthusiastic teacher. It also wasnt very hard to pay attention because she is extremely attractive
Such a great class, easy grading and you learn alot about yourself. She is so open and kind; always willing to help.Just show up to class and dont be absent too often! it hurts your grade. overall: great, fun teacher.
Class is very easy. Did every speech couple days before still got an A, even though I got a D on one of the speechs. Class is fun and she makes giving a speech real easy also she is very hot. Just don't miss to many days. She give a lot of extra credit.
so ridiculously hot and she reads these, so we know we all think she's hot. docks you lots of points for time of speeches and hitting all the points, but as long as you speak well in front of the class she'll give you a good grade. you have to go to class but she's worth it just to look at. got a B.
she is definately passionate about speech. Class is an easy A if you do speeches and DO ALL EXTRA CREDIT I got over 100 points EC, out of a thousand point class. dont be late or tardy. one cheap 25 dollar book to buy, i actually gained something from this class. Take jill
soooo hot....want to touch the hiney....
Awesome teacher. She does not like people who are late for class. She spells everything out for you on the first day. If you can follow instructions, you will get an A in this class. Class is very easy if you just listen to her. She tells you exactly what she wants.
she will make you wnat to go to class. she is hot as hell and she a great teacher. take take this class wihta frind and you wil have a fun class. i actualy looked forward to going to this class. jusyt show up on time and compete in the spech tormament and you are pretty much garrentted an A

is helpful, though you got to approach her for it. not always on time but is almost always there. she doesn't let you change your topic if your having a hard time with the topic you picked. She does know her stuff though.
good teacher. Never on time. Can be tough but all you gotta do is ask for help and she will do the best she can do to help (don't ****her off, she'll just throw it right back in your face)
really good teacher. is fun and makes the class go by fast.
damn... Jill was the hottest teacher i have ever had. She has the most beautiful set of hooters, fake or not. She made my day every day in speech. She never wears the same outfit, and i would marry her.
fun teacher, very clear with her explanations, helps whenever u need it. make sure to do all of the assignments and prepare for your speeches.BIG TIP:look at your syllabus all the time, she does not remind you about assignments that are due, but there is great EC @ the end of the year
Jill is great. Make sure you go to class and watch the syllabus. She has a lot to offer and I learned a ton.
Jill is amazing! She is dedicated to her students and her job. She has a new cute outfit everyday and her personality is oh so sweet. Take her course... she won't let you down!
Jill gives great lectures and is very enthusiastic and passionate about what she teaches. I learned so much from her! I agree that she is hot, but since most of you on here cannot get past that, you miss out on the opportunity to share what she really has to offer. Take her, you won't regret it!
Jill is the best teacher! I learned so much from her and encourage everyone to take this class. She will push you to do a good job. She is a very motivational teacher! Highly recommend her.

jill is very nice and very helpful, but....she is always late and the hardest grader in the world!
she's a good teacher & really knows the subject. she was always late & thinks the 15 min rule doesn't apply & that u have to wait the whole class time. hard to approach but will help. always seems to be in a good mood or bad mood. she doesn't take****. I always found it interesting how she could wear heels that were always so damn high but cute!!
Jill is the greatest! I was terrified beyond words of public speaking, but she made it so much easier because she understands that people are afraid. She makes you feel at ease. I got an A with very minimal effort, i recommend her to anyone who fears public speaking.
i HATED giving speeches, but after taking this class i feel 10x's more confident in public speaking & i only took a 4 week summer class. Jill is very encouraging and is always really willing to help in any way she can. definatly the best speech teacher u can have at moorpark...and guys, make sure to sit up front, SHES HOTT!

she is he hootest teacher i have ever had. Holly hell she is fine
Jill is my hero. She asked me to join the Speech Team after my very first speech, which I totally did. She's great, but she's always walking in late to class.....not very clear on certain things, but everyone has their follies, right?
jill mcall is the hottest teacher i've ever had... not to mention shes a great teacher too...
she is so hot. seriously gorgeous. plus shes good at teaching the class. shes really smart and generally knowledgable about most anything. take in summer. easiest class ive ever taken.
Jill is the best teacher and coach anyone can have for speech. She is soo helpful and understanding. I loved working with her and i miss it the most. I tell everybody to take her class.
not always clear on assignments. grades kind of hard on projects that you'll end up laughing at cause it seems like you should have done them in 5th grade. gave another student that was failing a c. very attractive, funny and warm hearted. i would take her again, knowing what i know now
Does not expain things well. Grades to harsh, on the positive side u have 2 speechs that r credit no credit. Then u have 3 more speechs: informative, impromptu, and perssuasive. Overall she is a good teacher. And offers 100 points extra credit.
Grades tp harshly, does not explain things well. On the good side u have 2 speechs that r credit no credit. and gives u 100 points extra credit if u particpate in the intermerial speech.
Jill is a good teacher. It seems like she will grade hard on speeches but actually is very fair with grades. She does keep the class interesting and is always there to help. She is very exact though in how she wants paper work to be. If your class is very outgoing and responsive to her questions it will be alot funner than if everyone is quite
Jills class was not easy and it required alot of work. nonetheless,I would highly recommend it. She is very sweet and willing to help you and she makes class fun, and she doesn't act superior like most teachers. Take her and you will learn how to give speeches!
Hard grader, but she tells you ahead of time what she is going to be looking for. Make sure you do the homework. And make sure you practice the timing on all of your speeches.
I really enjoyed being in her class. She helps you with any questions you have. The only thing you have to be aware of is that you have to be responsible for the assignments...she isn't going to tell you what assignments to do next. That's your job. She is very easy to communicate with. Plus she is very hot! I would definitely recommend taking her.
Easy A, and she is entertaining. The only annoying this about her is she believes her opinion is the absolute truth, which gets really annoying.
Very good looking and easy to understand. I would hate to have to argue with her. She uses a realistic approach to teaching. She is passionate about her job and it shows. Take the class you enjoy it. She is not a typical blond by any means.
Feb 2006, This is quite possibly he hotest teacher that knows exactly what she is doing. I am curently in her class and she is smart, funny, really hot, and knows how to get the best out of her students. I never miss her class, if she was not engaged I would hit on her. Dam! she is good looking and smart what a friggin combo.
This is the hotest teacher I've been around. She is very clear with what she expects. Just read outline. If you have ever been around a hot woman that you could respect she is it. She always answered your questions directly and honestly which blew me away. As a lawyer you can not really understand how nice it is to be around her. AND SHE IS HOT!!!
She explains everything well, and she makes the class funny. And all the guys check her out, hahaha.

way cool speech class, i failed speech the semester before w/ a different teacher. got an A in her class. Gives an extreme amount of extra credit that's actually interesting, fun and easy.
McCall is a great teacher who is enthusiastic about her job @ the same time.Is clear in what she expects from students, will help if you ask for it.Do extra cred on speeches as she will say whats right/wrong with it which will help you on speech day.Do speeches on the day you are to go as you know they are done b4 makeup day.Reccomend her highly!!
In the begginning everything was fine, then she spent 3 hours talking about visual aids. I have never wanted my life to end so badly. The only thing this class requires is the ability to follow directions without question, and to divorce oneself of any creativity or originality. After this class ended I had to go into detox to get my own mind back.
This teacher was not helpful to me at all I did all my speeches but im not sure if i even passed the class I missed one speech day but if you do all extra credit you should pass the class with flying colors. She says she understands that life doesnt evolve around this class but i dont think she truly does i tried calling here for help with my speec
jill is way tite she is funny, hot and the class isnt bad. only 5 speeches, 2 are credit/no credit way chill
i spent only one day in her class. i have never recieved a worst first impression from a teacher at moorpark in my 2 1/2 years there. she is abrasive and self-absorbed. if you enjoy motivational speakers and self-help seminars, you will enjoy her class. avoid this class if you are at all of a more "delicate" or "creative" predisposition.
Speech isnt a very fun subject, but she makes an effort to make the class at least a little bit interesting. If you do the work and follow instructions when doing your speech, you'll do fine.
umm she sucks my will to live...she makes everyone feel like an idiot...i hated her and i would never take another class from her again...she expects you to know everything and if you dont then she will make you feel like an idiot...i really dont like her
Jill is awesome. She knows the real world and she can always level with you. Willing to help as much as needed, do the speeches and you'll get a good grade. I took the "speech on crack" class and even moving at twice the speed of a normal class I still got an A and she let us out early all the time. Love this teacher, wish she taught everything!
Very strict on attendence, but other than that, she was a great prof. Just follow the outline for each speech, don't miss too many classes, and you'll do fine.
Nice teacher. Very emotional. I took interpersonal communications with her. One group project with video req'd. Didn't read from text book once.
One of the best professors I have ever had! She may be a bit strict, but she commands respect for both herself and her students. Her class is tough, but you do actually learn! Jill is amazing and she really takes the time to talk to her students after class. But if you are narrow-minded or lazy this is not the class for you.
She is all over the place, talks so much that it looks like her head is going to explode, and she doesnt really let you know what she wants, she just has you buy the book and read it. She is really strict on time but at least she is cool and jokes around with you
She is one of my heroes. Tough but very fair and funny. She gives alot of help to those who actually ask for it. Gives alot of extra credit. If you dont pass her class its really your own fault.
shes super nice but fair to a fault. its a really easy class if you follow her format and actually try, shes really helpful and will look over a rough draft if you're having trouble. i loved her, she knows no one wants to be there so just do what you're supposed to and she is more than happy to give you an A
She is really hard and picky on everything. She expects too much from you. I never had a professor that is too picky. Any little mistake you do on your speech, she deducts points. I would not reccomend this teacher, the only reason people are on her good side is because she is pretty.
Basically, it's the class that I put the most time into this semester but still received the worst grade in. I took 5 classes this semester...got 4 As and 1 C. Which was in Jill's class. Incredibly hard teacher to please. VERY nitt picky about everything and docks A LOT of points for small things. Was very hard for me to do well in.
This class was very simple. Show up, absorb the information, regeritate it into your own speech, present the speech, and bam... the semester is already over and you passed. It's really not brain science. Anyone can pass this class if they do the speeches and present them with confidence.
LOVED HER. She is loud and fun and actually makes class very interesting. She is very approachable and really cares. Just show up, she really does make class fun!
she is really pretty but hard and deducts points off if you make the smallest mistake so think about it twice before you take it and attendance is required!!! so don't miss or she'll take points and even worse on speech days!!!
Jill McCall is probably one of my favorite teachers. I was so nervous going into speech, but I had to take it so I wanted to get it over with. She makes the class SO SO SO fun and she completly changed my mind on speaking. Granted I'm not going to join the speech team or anything, but she made me feel confident when speaking in front of others.
Jill is amazing! She is definitely the teacher you want for speech. She is very funny and knowledgable. She is always available if you need any help and always checks and replies to emails. Go to class and dont procrastinate and be prepared for speeches and you will get an A! She helps you with ideas for speeches and is very encouraging
amazing! my fav teacher. show up, pay attention, ask ?s. she answers emails and pent hours outside of class to help me. she is so sweet! she's funny, made the class fun! i wouldn't take anyone else. I hated speech b4 her class. I want to take another speech class just to haver her as my teacher again! perfect teacher!
Jill is an amazing teacher!! she is hilarious and also passionate about the class which makes it interesting. She is extremely helpful, makes herself available if you take initiative. Attendance not mandatory but you will be lost if you miss a lot of class. Dont procrastinate in this class and you will do great!! :)
Oh dear God. Jill is anamzing woman and incredibly kind but a VERY hard and strict grader. About 6 speeches, three of them big. She offers TONS of extra credit though!
GREAT professor! Hard class but i recommend her to get speech over with. Hard work for an A, but if i can do anyone can. And she is super hot
She is so great! I've tried to take speech 6 times and dropped it every time! Then I went to Jills class, she is so nice, helpful, and makes the info easy to understand! Lots of chances to do extra credit work.
Jill was a great Prof! She makes class comfortable, enjoyable &requires the class 2support eachother. You pick your own topic for all 6 speeches. You must do all speeches to pass! Overall, I learned alot-it was nerveracking but if you do all extra credit&all the speeches you will pass. I got an A. TAKE JILL YOU WILL LEARN ALOT ABOUT PUBLIC SPEAKING!
Jill is so awesome. She makes you feel totally comfortable, and creates a great atmosphere in class. She's a somewhat strict, but very fair grader. I'm really glad that I took the class with her, it was a great learning experience. I would take her again for sure. A+ :)
Jill gives everything and more to her classes and students. She is always there for you as long as you put in the effort. She is very smart. She wants you to succeed if you want to. Love her!
Jill is awesome!!! The structure of her class is really laid back and she creates a really interactive atmosphere. She's really understanding to her students and she makes you feel completely comfortable. She's a great teacher, I really learned a lot from her and her class was really enjoyable. Definitely recommend her to anyone!
Jill is absolutely amazing! An overall spectacular teacher with so much to offer. Her 8 week courses are a breeze because she is so helpful and straight forward! Creates a comfortable atmosphere for even those terrified of public speaking. Take her!
Great teacher. She's very well versed on the subject matter. Funny, down to earth and very supportive. Very clear in what she wants from you. Class was challenging but extremely valuable. She can be kind of a hard ass, but at the end of the day she's a very good teacher. This was a fun class. Take it now!
She is very supportive and nice. She made class into a really fun and supportive environment. If you are bad at speech and need this for transfer take it with Jill! The workload isn't so hard and you can skip 1 speech if you get too nervous. The extra credit easy and worth a lot. Got an easy A and became as better public speaker through her class,
First off shes hot! So that makes the long class go by a little easier. Her class can be easy so long as you put your part into it. You can skip one speech if you feel nervous or unprepared recommend saving that one for the "Pop Speech" Extra credit is always nice and she offers plenty so do it if you need the points. Overall great professor.
LOVE JILL!! she is hilarious and i wish i had her closet. She is really passionate about teaching and loves her students. In interpersonal you have to huge project which is 20% of your grade so i suggest taking it with friends. You start the class as strangers and end as a family.
I realize & can appreciate that some instructors have unorthodox or unconventional methods but, this was unprofessional at best. The req'd textbook has spelling & grammatical errors that really distract from the lesson. How can I take the class seriously when the Prof. plays favs. & dresses for 'still young n' hip' points instead of success?
i dont know how people can say shes hard!! over 150 points of extra credit, and she let you make up one of you speeches!
She is a great teacher. Always keeps you entertained. Small italian woman who is very blunt with her words. She made the class so much more comfortable, so if you dread public speaking take her. And when you need help she is always willing. Wonderful person
She tends to be loud, scattered, and overly emotional. Not for people who aren't project oriented.
She has so much passion for her subject, and that resonates with the students for long after the class has ended. She not only teaches well, but her confidence in us as students is infectious. I had no speech experience prior to this and was terrified, but thanks to her help, I was able to pass with an A. She actually cares about her students too.
Jill is awesome, makes class fun, entertaining and laidback. Definitley recommend her to anyone. Do all assignments and extra credit and you will get an A. And shes not bad looking either...
Syllabus advises students to use spell-check and grammar-check software. But syllabus has bad grammar, incorrect punctuation and poor spelling...even the title of her own book.
AWESOME! Took a 6.5 week course, but she is amazing! Beautiful, talented and knows her stuff! You gotta seriously memorize speech, don't half-fast it. Just do your work! She's passionate about what she does & you can tell by her teaching style. Learned SO much. Best teacher I've had at MC. And u can copy book in library!
Jill is an absolutely amazing professor. She really puts in a lot of effort to make the class fun and is extremely supportive. She's hilarious, and such a sweetheart. Extremely dedicated to the subject, and wants her students to do well. Take her class, you will not regret being taught by this amazing woman!
By far one of the best classes that I have ever taken. Jill is very passionate about the subject that she is teaching. She is very helpful, but you must work for an A in the class. I highly recommend taking this class if you want to have fun learning and if you want to become comfortable speaking in front of others! :)
Awsome teacher. She made this class interesting and fun.. High recommendation!! Take her
Loved her! She's a cross between Jennifer Aniston and dresses like Carrie Bradshaw. Do what she says and TRY...you will get a good grade.
I loved her! I'll admit that its not the easiest class to get an A in, but she definately makes it easier to go up there and speak in front of the class. She is extremely fun and I looked forward to going to her class everyday. One thing, this is not an easy A class. The key to an A is to show her you're having fun up there and be yourself!
Awesome sense of humor and makes the effort to get to know and work with each student. She spells out exactly what she expects from you, and is more than willing to help if you have a problem/question while preparing your speech. Not an easy course if you're not used to speeches, but a teacher that definitely makes it more interesting and fun.
Really funny woman that cares deeply about her students and spends so much time with each and every one with their speeches. Would totally take again.
I NEVER expected to actually enjoy attending a speech class. I have always been so afraid of public speaking. Jill makes you feel comfortable in front of a class though. You definitely have to work for the grade you want, but I highly reccommend this class!
Really prepares you for speech outside of class. I actually enjoyed speech, and I am terrified of public speaking. She gives a lot of extra credit so it isn't hard to get an A. I recommend taking this class, plus she's pretty hot. haha
I signed up for this class after reading all of the great reviews and was highly disappointed. She is great at what she does but not as a teacher. She grades really hard and teaches like we are all on the forensics team. She is unclear about when assignments are due and isn't afraid to make you feel stupid in front of the class. Take someone else.
I dreaded having to take this class, but she makes it very comfortable to go up there do your thing. Very encouraging and had great criticism. Loved the class: fun, entertaining, and supportive. I would take her again if I could.
Unclear about when assignments are due which drove me nuts because I am a very organized person. Otherwise nice person and interesting class.
Dreaded the class, but liked Jill. She is SUPER energetic and really encouraging. Fairly easy grader, but you have to FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. Those who didn't know when things were due didn't pay attention. She gives helpful criticism and even if you totally screw up, she finds something good to say about your performance. Take her class.
It was nice having my first speech class with Jill. She put all of her assignments and rubrics online so we would know what to expect before she covered them in class. Sometimes a bit scatterbrained but overall really encouraging and kind.
A little intimidating at first, but in reality she is very easy to talk to. Get on her good side and try to be confident!! Do the extra credit, practice your speeches early, and try to participate. The impromptu speech was a bit difficult, but if you pick a generic topic ahead of time and memorize what you are going to say, then you will do fine.
she is really nice to talk to and in class she is pretty funny. as far as the homework and projects go, this class sucked. you would feel like you are doing really well and once you get your papers back (in the last two weeks of class) you will find out you have gotten a D on everything and are screwed. i wasn't the only one. you never know what do
BEST PROFESSOR EVER. Take this class if you are good or BAD at public speaking. I absolutely panic and was dreading this class. She made it SOOOOO much better.
Jill is awesome! She takes this class very seriously. You will be amazed at the transformation of yourself/your classmates by the end of the semester. This class is not "easy" but I guarantee you will be more prepared for the real world if you take this professor rather than any other! love her!!
She was not easy she was very DIFFICULT and confusing i would have to ask her everytime. For you it might be challenging but she will help you at her office but most of the time she would waste my time while i wait by her office sometimes she shows up late or never shows up. She can be helpful sometimes. Remember she is not EASY!!!!
I had no interest in taking this class at first, I only needed the credits. so I mainly stayed in her class to get over my stage fright which I did! however, This has got to be the worst teacher I have ever taken. Nice when she wants to be (rare).very rude, demeaning, and unprofessional. I would never recommend someone to take her. EVER. BEWARE.
Jill is awesome. Public speaking is worst nightmare. I took summer class so I could get it over in 4 weeks. Totally worth your summer hours. She really helps you get thru the fear AND as of right now I have an A. TAKE HER CLASS!
I still can't believe how much fun I had in that class! She is a beyond AMAZING teacher with the sweetest personality and always is there to help! I highly recommend her! She's one of the best teachers I've had at Moorpark! She makes the class fun and enjoyable! Do your part, put in the effort, and you'll get great results! :)
Jill is literally the best professor I've ever taken ever. Take her class!!! She's the best! She's so nice and sweet and makes you feel so great about yourself!
seems nice at first but can be really unapproachable and unclear when you talk to her about assessments. spends most of the lecture cussing and trying to make jokes and then you're left with a few minutes to talk about the speech. plays favorites and expects you to already be a phenomenal public speaker. avoid like the plague.
Best Communications teacher ever! I shake and worry my knees will buckle when speaking in public and this prof. gave me great tools to work with. Yes she cusses but its with purpose and description. I can't believe I got an A. Don't take anyone else. Took the 4 week summer class to try to get it overwith..was a good idea cuz it went by fast
Jill was amazing. She did a great job at making everyone feel very comfortable. I took her interpersonal communications class. I have learned more in that class about life than all my years combined of schooling. I learned so much about myself and how to deal with other people. You are insane if you don't take this class!!!
Easy A! I had so much fun in this class and met a lot of great people! Participation and attendance is mandatory. Quiz's are based on power points. A lot of extra credit! If you don't get an A in this class something terribly wrong has happened! Office Hours are Monday - Thursday. Loves her students to death! My favorite class I've taken at MP!
Speech is going to suck no matter what, but Jill is incredibly nice and has a great personality. This class was interesting and she was always very helpful. The grades are based on attendance and speeches, there are two big ones and some smaller speeches. The class is mandatory, so make is as good as you can, take it with her.
Speech was originally terrifying, but Jill had an odd way of using her humorous&commanding personality to ensue confidence into her students. She is so passionate about speech&loves to see her students gain self confidence throughout the semester. She gave me a talent I will have for the rest of my life.
Jill is wonderful!! I learned so much in this class, and the assignments were not too hard. It helps a little that she is ridiculously good looking haha.
Honestly this teacher was AMAZING. she was funny and sweet, yet very helpful. with no doubt take her class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jill is the best. Fun and willing to help. Always making things interesting. Cares about you and makes you care about her. Could not recommend higher. 04 is a gem of a class.
Jill is such an amazing professor! She made my experience at Moorpark. Most of the class was in tears on our last day. Make sure you read the syllabus and stay on top of assignments, she is fun but strict!
Wonderful and open woman and an amazing class. A real sense of Family Within it. You will learn so much that interests you that you forget that you are even being graded. I learned a lot and this is guiding my career interest now!
Jill is very sweet and she is willing to help. Her assignments are not easy though. She talks a lot and does curse quite a bit. She is professional though and wants her students to do well. Be prepared when you go to class and do the outlines for the speeches correctly and not at the last moment or you will most definitely get a bad grade on it.
She makes the class fun and I learned a lot. shes not super easy but not hard at all. As long as you do your work you will get an A. Did not like speaking in front of classes before and now I am fine.
She is such a great teacher. Dynamic when necessary yet unyielding to slackers. Jill is a professor to learn from. She will teach you the technique and be happy to help. Highly Recommended!
Amazing teacher!!! Helps you so much with your speeches, making it super easy to get an A in the class. If you try, you're guaranteed an A.
She's got lots of personality and is super funny. Actually enjoyed speech class even though public speaking terrifies me still. Took the 4 week summer course and it wasn't bad; I highly recommend it.
Jill is so nice funny and helpful! Public speaking is scary but she makes you feel comfortable in front of the class. Gives extra credit opportunities! The first 3 speeches (icebreaker, memory, memorized monologue) are creditno credit. For the 3 graded speeches just do the outline, follow the structure and do your best and you will pass her class.
Jill is awesome, and has a lot of personality & enthusiasm. She is able to connect with and understand her students which is awesome. However, her Introduction to Speech class is far from easy. She expects a lot from peoples' speeches, but she is always willing to help out and give you feedback. She's a cool professor, but she isn't an easy A.
No one wants to take speech and Jill McCall knows it. This results in mandatory attendance and a class structure that makes you feel like you never left high school, as necessary as that is. Can be very unclear and on two occasions over 34's of the class did something incorrectly that resulted in a 10% grade deduction on the next speech.
She is very lively and understands that most of the people taking Intro Speech are uncomfortable with presenting speeches. I took her 4 week summer class and it was the best decision ever. Stay on top of the assignments assigned and you will pass the class. I do not recommend missing any days of this class because then it becomes challenging.
BEST TEACHER EVER she makes the class SO comfortable with such an awkward and UNcomfortable scenario. LOVE HER. the best decision you can make is to take her for speech! AND it was so fun you almost didn't realize the work you were doing was WORK. and I'm extremely lazy. trust me, YOU'LL LOVE GOING TO CLASS! she's so funny and ugh just great!!!
She was my favorite teacher at Moorpark. Her class is an easy A or B if you follow her instructions. She guides you through how to prepare speeches very well. Even if you're not good at public speaking she helps you get so much better. She is also very funny and relatable and cares about helping students. Just take notes and show up to class.
There's a reason this class is mandatory- you will absolutely grow as a person in this class! Speeches are essays! With very specific sourcing criteria. Jill is firm. Make sure you have what you need ready, every day. She definitely became my role model by the end of the semester. Heels everyday! Amazing! Yo go glen coco!
I took her shortened Speech class and it moves at a rapid fast pace, so if you join the class you must be ready to be on top of your speeches, which means there is not a lot of time for her to give you feedback before you speak. But overall, she is a good teacher and wants you to succeed. So, don't procrastinate and you'll be fine.
As a person there is no one better than Jill, I looked forward to her class everyday, super fun and interactive assignments, but her only downfall is she is kind of unclear on exactly what she wants you to do so your grade might suffer, but I'm sure if I had asked for help I would have got a better grade
This was one of the most stressful classes I've taken. Every second was worth it. She is very strict, understanding, funny, and expect a lot from her students. I took a faster course so it added on the work load. There was homework every day. I've never grown so much from a class before. If you need this class and you had the time, take her!
Took an accelerated class so everything went faster. loved her though!! super funny, tough, but is always there to help you. don't miss class or procrastinate. miss one assignment and you'll fall behind very quickly.
Professor McCall is hands down the best professor I've ever had. I was terrified of public speaking before this class. She was so helpful and encouraged me to be better. The speeches are difficult but she gives great feedback and takes the time to get to know her students. Would definitely take a class with her again!
Jill is a great professor she cares a lot about her students and is a very kind and sweet woman however she is a bit emotional and brings a lot of outside drama to the class However it is very nice that she feels she can be open and honest with her students which is appreciated by everyone and the point of the class was interpersonal communication
Jill is a great professor, she makes speech class comfortable and fun, although it is typically intimidating.
Literally 16/18 classes, she was 10 min late, gave excuses left and right. Argued with other instructors in front my class and the other instructs. Cried in class several times. Gave HORRIFIC clarity on projects, what was being graded. Points are not weighted at all. Doesn't teach, she delegates teaching to her students via group projects. #drama
Anyone that says jill is a good tracher, was either a brown noser or loved that she gave grades away when she made obvious professional mistakes. Her classes are jokes. I received a free B and I would've rather spent the time picking my nose or wiping my butt instead of being in her class.
The grade really came down to 3 movie quizzes (not terribly difficult ones either), two large projects, extra credit, and a final. The projects were stressful but ultimately not too difficult, given you landed a competent group, and the extra credit is helpful Jill herself is incredibly into the subject, resulting in interesting lectures.
Really helps if you are afraid of public speaking. I took this for the GE requirement as a condensed course, (1/2 semester) and I am glad I did. There are 3 req'd speeches. Informative, impromtu, and persuasive. Impromtu was hardest but most fun. You get graded on your content and presentation. Not easy but plenty of xtra credit work to bump u up.
I took jill for my interpersonal communications class and she was such a sweet and kind professor. She truly cares for all her students and builds a connection with each individual. Her assignments were both easy and some were tough, but only a couple quizzes about the movies we watch. Would definitely take again, and boys-shes hot!
completely unprofessional, she acts nice and tries to act cool but is backhandedly rude, she assigned projects that took weeks and hours to work on and gave low grades just to build a curve, u could work tirelessly for hours and she would give u a grade based on how much she liked u, if she knows u and likes u you'll get an A, otherwise dont bother
For a communications teacher, she was not very clear on any of the assignments that she assigned. There are a few projects in the class that are time consuming and long. If you miss 4 classes, you will be dropped. She gets a little too emotional in class and overshares about her life. If you show up and do all of the work, you can get an A.
One of the best classes I have taken!!!
Jill is a nice person. There could be a bit more clarity on things. People were often confused as to what was going on. However, she really does care about the subject and that you learn it. Overall it was a fun class and I learned a few things about myself and the people in my class. It was nice that she build that kind of environment.
I recently took jill for a speech class, I was on the verge of failing the class and after connecting with her about my situation at the time she definitely motivated me to keep going, not only did she believe in me but I'm glad she didn't give up on me, definitely a great teacher, just show up listen and take advantage of her free time to connect.
Heres the thing with Jill, you either love her or hate her. My class happened to hate her, but classes last semester loved her! I read some of the negative stuff on here and bottom line is this is college. If you don't do the work you don't get the grade. She can be rude , especially when you are unclear on what to do. But i would still take again
Jill is a tough grader. She is funny and her lectures are entertaining. However the assignments and grading criteria were unclear at times. My best advice would be to follow directions as best you can, ask questions, and show up to class. I am sure there are other speech teachers easier at moorpark, but this class is manageable.
I didn't have much of a problem with Jill. But we never knew what our grades on most assignments were until the end of the semester. She did a good job teaching, but by the time I got my grades it seemed like she expected different things than I thought she expected, and I didn't get the chance to fix it after learning how she grades.
No one likes speech, but she makes getting an A without being an awesome speaker attainable. I failed the impromptu & still got an A. This class is literally all about STRUCTURE. How can you fail a class when she literally tells you what to do??? Honestly, if you hate Jill then you should just grow up. I have never had a teacher who cares so much.
If you fail it's your own fault. She literally tells you exactly what she wants. I heard people talking smack about her in class and couldn't help but roll my eyes because they had such stupid things against her. Great teacher, great person, just awesome all around.
She grades really hard because of the time frame that you have to hit besides that she grades very fairly. She is a very nice teacher and you have many opportunities for extra credit.
She is very unclear in her schedule and to her students. Ironic that she is a communications teacher...
Gives out group projects that are super intense but gives little grading criteria or idea of what shes expecting and then grades crazy hard on it. its basically her way of getting out of actually teaching the class. classes are a waste of time but she will call you out for skipping/leaving early. idk why shes still a teacher here tbh
Jill is one of the most charming people I've ever met. Her classroom was welcoming and kind and her feedback was interesting and insanely helpful. She doesn't hold hands for dates, so you HAVE to pay attention to the syllabus. Be nice to your peers! It makes a huge difference in the long run.
Graded really hard arbitrary. Jill didn't update grades until November (class started in August) because she couldn't figure out canvas but when a student couldn't figure out Powerpoint she was docked points. I didn't know what was expected of me despite looking at the syllabus which said see syllabus. She has the students teach the class.
Public speaking is a terrifying class and she made it not scary at all, she totally bonded our class and helped every student succeed. One of the best teachers I have ever had, and for a class I really didn't want to take. Fantastic teacher.
You need to keep on track with all assignments, she usually forgets to tell you about them. Follow her instructions exactly, and you will do very well.
She is a very good teacher I learned a lot. Lots of work and it feels like she is a tough grader. However keep up with the work she is willing to go over your work before its due and gives you suggestions, do as she tells you and you will do well.
I really enjoyed taking her for this class. She really cares about her students and makes sure everyone knows the material before moving on. She gives really good lectures and knows what shes saying. Several quizzes and a couple presentations.
I hated her class. She goes into no detail for any of the assignments and basically assigns projects in order for the students to teach the info and she barely even goes over that. she never puts in our grades. She is really bad at communicating the assignment and what is expected before hand, ironic cause she's a communications teacher...
She takes more than enough time to grade our work. She keeps telling us she'll grade things and give them back to us, but the weeks keep going by. She'll assign projects/ hw weeks before it's due and never speak of it again until we're all confused. She won't admit when she is wrong and I can 100% guarantee that the rest of my peers feel the same.
She is a very sweet and caring person, but a crazy hard grader. She doesn't tell you what is due because she expects her students to check online for due dates. From the very first day you can see when and what is due though. She doesn't tolerate phones or any other distractions. Not an easy A but worth it, she really knows her stuff
Took her accelerated course and while it was fast, the course did feel rushed at all. While she may forget to remind you what is due each day, she gives a schedule that has all the due dates for every assignment. She offers great feedback and is extremely helpful for any questions you may have. Not to mention, she is extremely kind and personable.
I took an accelerated version of this class so every one class counted for a week of work so a lot was expected of me. However, Jill made it work. She in detail explained what needed to be done and how to be a good public speaker. She allows notecards and really eases you into the public speaking realm. Jill is my favorite professor at Moorpark.
never in my life have written a review for a professor, until I met her... I'm going to be as honesty as possible and cut to the chase. She horribly explains something that is super easy to do and makes it complicated. I did fine in the class. But many peers complained about how everything felt overwhelming , some felt lost. must be the tenure lol.
Took 8 week course. Was genuinely ill for two days in the course and got a D despite doing almost all of the extra credit assignments. Class always felt both horribly unorganized and rushed. Jill hardly provided any feedback to speeches and penalized me and other students for going 1-2 minutes over the speech limit.
Cons to Jill's interpersonal communication course: You won't find out your grade until the last day of class, class schedule is unclear, no reminders of what is due next class, Canvas was a bit all over the place and it was hard to know what's due. Pros: Jill is extremely caring, she had some fun exercises, a lot of e.c., and overall sweet person.
Class was wonderful especially thanks to the energy and attitude she brought with her. We had group projects and activities, and also interesting assignments. Classmates were nice and the overall attitude was welcoming and supportive. My only criticism is that Jill does not warn you about deadlines so you have to keep track of the syllabus for that
Comm M04 was easy!! Almost every assignment was personal, or at least a little interesting. We only had one quiz because of the fires but as long as you did your homework, you'll get an A. There's also two projects, but nothing too difficult. Jill was really caring too. It's true though she doesn't give reminders on homework but you can miss some.
The most UNORGANIZED teacher I've ever had. Every single kid comes into class before she does asking if the other did hw cause we're all confused on what it even was. won't post assignments till night before due date. Comes to class dressed in head to toe designer, so clearly she cares more about looks than being prompt and uploading files on time.
She genuinely cares for students and wants them to learn the curriculum! She makes class fun and is easy to talk to during and outside of class. I would definitely take another class taught by her!
Take this professor. It's free therapy and all the assignments are based on yourself. Yes, the assignments are confusing at first follow the syllabus it's all there. She is an amazing teacher and relates to her students. The assignments are not hard at all. And she gives extra credit. This was my favorite class at Moorpark I highly recommend.
She ISN'T on top of grading, posting assignments, or following the syllabus. She's helpful and really nice if you email her. Not a ton of homework but lectures are important to pass! Only three speeches that were pretty easy IF you PREPARE. One make up speech and extra credit. She can be a tough grader, so follow the rubrics!!
I took this class as my credit for public speaking. I got sick during the semester during a pandemic and my internet went out. She would not allow me to make up both of the assignments. I am typically a student who gets A's and B's and does all of my work, but no matter how much work or effort I put in, it seemed like it wasn't enough.
Acts kind at first but she is very passive aggressive. Directions for assignments are unintelligible with no rubric. Hands out zeros because "good students will let me know if they want their grade changed." Assignments are rarely unlocked on time with no extensions. Stressful. Regrades assignments to 0. Worst experience ever. DO NOT TAKE HER!
She is so terrible. I took her online class and she was so unclear in all her assignments the wording was off and hard to understand at times and full of typos. She is really hard to reach too, you have to email her like 6 times to get her to respond. It sucked cause when I didnt understand an assignment or needed help she wouldnt respond to me.
I don't understand some of the negative comments on here. Professor McCall was easy to get along with, the material was clear, and if you put the effort into your work, you'll do well. Each speech has quite a bit of prep work, and that takes time, but it's totally doable. She provides clear and consistent feedback, and she's very encouraging.
Some assignments did not include a rubric, which made it harder to know what was expected from me. She gives helpful feedback, but grades too slow and by the next speech I do not have the necessary feedback to improve yet. She was helpful when choosing a topic by helping me find sources to make it more specific. Sometimes unorganized and unclear.
Prof. McCall was a good professor but was a bit less focused on the material. We'd go off on tangents and sometimes her rubric was hard and you had to guess. Good number of the class would come in with variations of the same assignment confused. Personal presentations are a must, and files/reading weren't uploaded till the day before.
This is a super late review as I have just graduated with a bachelor in communication, but received my associates from Moorpark. I had switched majors and was not to sure if I wanted to peruse a Comm degree but her classes made me love the subject! Yes there is a lot of writing but that only prepares you if you want to peruse a bachelors.
Prof McCall was super nice but it felt like there was no structure to this class. Instructions on assignments are very unclear. Due Dates are likely to change at the last minute. The class was interesting, but i wish it was more organized and assignments were better explained
On par with all the bad reviews. She is extremely disorganized and constantly goes off on tangents. Plenty of group projects and asks for way too much. Bad communication and not understanding in the slightest. Cancelled a week of class for a personal issue but refuses to accommodate students. Baaaaad attitude. Quirky, cringe millennial. SKIP HER.
This class is fairly easy, however, this is not a good teacher. She is very frustrating and lazy. She expects us to do so many extra things to make grading easier for her. She makes you run a marathon when you only need to run a mile. She takes very long to grade and is not understanding . She seems nice but I would not recommend taking her class.
Professor McCall's class was a mixed bag. While the coursework was interesting and personal, the assignments were often unclear with last-minute changes. However, Unstuck study AI proved helpful for staying on top of things. Overall, not a terrible class, but could use more structure.
Not a hard class, but the professor doesn't grade until the end, so you don't know your grade, which is annoying. The main focus is making videos for discussions and a group project and replying to other group projects when it's not your week. If another professor has better reviews, go with that one, but this class isn't the worst in the world.
She doesn't grade anything until the end, which is annoying. She also doesn't have clear instructions for the assignments, and the dates are often wrong from past classes. I wish this class had more structure, but it's not hard to pass if you can get past all those things. A plus is that she's easy to reach by email for help.
Her grading is arbitrary. Her and your peer's feedback will be positive, but her final assessment will not reflect that. It is evident that she doesn't fully read them. She does not like to be challenged or shown where she could be wrong. My advice: don't be too bold or opinionated. Just fill out the blanks and keep your head down.
This professor is not hands on. Her feedback is cool but her grading is lazy. she typically grades 2-3 weeks later which means your grade could go from an A to a D super quick with little time to understand what your doing wrong and right. very frustrating and disappointing.
She doesn't respond to students. If you're not tech savvy and post a video incorrect she won't make exceptions and give you a “0”.
She does not grade anything until the very end of class. She is not very helpful and her instructions are not clear at all which leads to a lot of misunderstandings. The class itself is not hard at all but it seems like she does not like to be challenged or open to feedback at all. She seems like a very lazy teacher.
She is a harsh grader. She won't even give u credit for completion. you could demonstrate ur understanding of the concept, but she still won't give you credit according to her opinion. Her instructions are so confusing. In the first 2 months, she will grade, but then it will be stagnant until the LAST week of the grading cut off.
