she was really nice and actually knows how to teach english! made the class fun and encorporated the hw to help with essays

I loved Mrs. Mowbray!! She's so helpful and nice. She would always try to make the class fun by saying random funny things. When I had her, she only taught one class so it was really easy to get a reply back in emails. Three papers including research paper which wasn't too bad. And then the final exam. She will clarify anything! I will miss her

In this class we had three major papers - an analysis essay, personal narrative and research essay. Professor Mowbray is relaxed, personable and competent. If you ask her for help, she's more than willing.

Excellent teacher. She was very funny and very helpful when it came to writing your papers. She would always read mine before I turned it in and tell me what to fix. She even gives you a free pass to rewrite one of your papers for 10 points higher. Lastly, she's pretty good at responding to emails in a timely manner. TAKE HER you won't regret it.

Mrs Mowbry is a wonderful professor and very down to earth. Though there is alot of homework, it is all useful in order to write a strong papers. She willing to meet before and after class in order to review rough drafts of papers before the due date. She also offers the opportunity to submit revisions. I would take her class again!

I took Mrs. Mowbray for english 111, and honestly it was the best decision i've made. Her assignments are very easy. not much homework at all. 4 major papers which are fairly easy, and she returns them so you fix your errors for a better grade. she was very helpful too on all papers. Impossible to fail this class as long as you show up. TAKE HER!!

This is the best professor I had while I was at NOVA. I took an 8 week with her and although the lectures were for 3 hours she made them fly by with her funny stories. I'm actually sad I won't have her as a professor anymore. If you just show up to class and do what is assigned you will get an A easy. The assignments are not tough and she helps you

Mrs. mowbray is the best English teacher ever! She's extremely hilarious and makes class super fun. She's a tough grader but makes sure you know exactly what has to be done to get an A, I'm planning on taking her again for 112! She also lets you revise your papers for a higher grade. Miss Mowbray has definitely been my favorite teachers. Her class is an easy A as long as you do the homework and work on essays at her pace (which is a fair pace). I would disagree with those who say she is a tough grader, although I am good at English. She gives amazing feedback and is very funny. Taking her for 112! Recommend:)

Prof. Mowbray is over the top fantastic. One of my favorite teachers at NOVA hands down. She's very clear about what she is looking for so the papers are very easy to complete. Show up to class to get easy 10 points, trust me they build up. I would definitely take her again.

Professor Mowbray is a super kind/funny professor. Gives 10 point assignments every class (they're trivial). 3 Essays 1 Bibliography 1 Final. Didn't spend a whole lot of time on English this semester and managed to do well. Show up, give each essay two-three days of serious work and you'll get an A. Definitely taking Prof Mowbray again!

100% recommend Prof. Mowbray. She wants you to succeed. Attendance is important (classes are always productive) but missing a class here and there won't really hurt your grade. If you put in real effort you will do well on the papers- she guides you throughout the writing process. Allows you to revise and resubmit papers and averages both grades

By far one of the best English instructors Ive ever had. She knows whats shes doing when teaching and is down to earth with her students. Her only intentions are to help you succeed in and outside her class. Shes Caring, funny, and relatable. Missing one or two classes wont really effect you but trust me, you wont be wanting to skip any class.

I took a 2nd 8wk course in the Spring semester, we had 2 essays worth 15% of our grade, an annotated bibliography worth 10%, a research paper worth 30%, attendance/ participation worth 15%, in-class writing worth 15%, and a final exam worth 5%. Mrs. Mowbray was a great teacher. she was always open to meeting after class before papers were due. you will write about 3-4 papers in her 111 class. they are easy if you follow the rubric! would take her again!

Professor Mowbray is probably the best professor I have had at NOVA ! She is so kind hearted and patient with her students it is admirable. She assigns small and easy assignments each class that help you work on your essays. 4 essays total and annotated bibliography. Attendance is important!

The best ENG teacher I had at NOVA! She assigned days where we have other students peer review our papers which helps a lot. Ask her to read your paper so you know what to fix, she is willing to help you improve. All the papers that I asked her to read over I got an A in, the only one paper she did not look over and I got a B in.

Only use the one textbook "Writing In Response" twice, for those times it was for a grade, honestly you could make it up if you don't want to pay for the book. She is a "mom" teacher, comforting and helping. I would take her again, she is such a arm kind presence; good life advice. I look up to her, she has stepped into a motherly light for me.

Out of the three semesters that I have been at NOVA, she has still been my favorite. The class is so easy and you get a lot of feedback on papers if you show up to class. She really does want students to succeed and she is the sweetest. Most of the time I did read the assignments less than an hour before class started.

I took her this semester. Received half the semester remotely because of COVID-19. She honestly cares about her students and tries to make things as simple as possible. No homework. No exams. We just did 3 papers and 15 discussion posts that were simple. EC opportunities. Accessible outside class and answers emails fast. Seriously, take her.

By far one of my favorite professors. We had three essays and she helped you with all of them. Very responsive to emails. I got near 100s on all the essays with good feedback. Many people might not like lectures but she made it enjoyable. Some group collaboration when in writing workshop but other than that no group projects. I would take again.

Shes great! She really cares about her students and will even help you with your writing skills! Shes very understanding and will give you step by step instructions on how to write a paper... IN DETAIL!

She is an amazing teacher. There is no reason besides laziness to do poorly. She gives reasonable work, basically hands you an A, but also helps you understand why you made an error. She grades fairly, but leans to leniency. She makes you submit drafts so you don't have a work pile up. She has many graded assignments you can do badly on one paper.

Took Professor Mowbray in fall of 2020 and it was amazing. she has lots of students that come back to her because how great she is. very entertaining lectures and well respected within each other. you would not regret taking her. ON GOD

I took Professor Mowbray's class during the covid-19 pandemic online and could not be happier with how things turned out. She is a caring professor that wants you to pass. I feel like I was actually able to learn something from her class, which was awesome. I already enrolled for a class she is teaching next semester, highly recommend it.

Take Professor Mowbray if you want to have a great english experience!! She is a very kind, funny, and understanding teacher! She explains things well, and we had one assignment due each week Sunday night. We had two papers and a group project as our final. If you do the work youll do well, and if you need help shes more than happy to help you.

One of the best English teachers I ever had. If you have any problems, she won't hesitate to help you out. There is a textbook for this class but you can totally ace this class without purchasing it since there's no assignments on it. Classes tend to be based on helping you with the graded assignments and basically make it impossible to fail.

Hands down one of the best educators I've ever had. The class is focused on helping you prepare and draft 2 Papers and an Annotated Bibliography. If you show up to class and actively engage with the content, you'll get an A. The first paper in this class was the first paper I've written in almost 10 years and I got 100%.

Such a great prof! She's a really generous grader and talks about interesting things in lectures. Very easy to talk to and she genuinely wants you to pass. Ask her any questions if English isn't really your thing and she'll help you out. She also gives examples of proper citations, bibliographies, etc.

The class is amazing! Loved the interaction with her and she really is the sweetest! Definitely attend class because she does attendance in 4 different sections. No tests or quizzes but there are papers to write. Not that hard but definitely follow her examples and advice and you will do great! Overall amazing teacher love her!

I loved having professor Mowbray for English 111. You can tell she cares about the students and would talk to me after class about other problems and professors that I was struggling with. She responds quickly to emails, even this summer when I reached out for a letter of recommendation. She has a couple of papers but will help you along the way.

I had a hard time at the beginning of the semester (it's my first semester at NOVA), and I was behind on works, so I was thinking about dropping out. However, I went to Professor Mowbray's office hour talk to her. She gave me suggestions and help me catch up. Take her! She cares about students!!!

Truly one of the best teachers I've ever had. She is so understanding and caring. I love English as well, so it's nice to have a good teacher who also loves what she teaches. All the homework is informal assignments and you have a lot of time to do them so it' easy. Essays are also great because she goes through step by step of what she expects. :)

Take her class if you're able to. She has been one of the best educators I've ever had in my life and she's also just an incredibly caring person. The class itself isn't that hard if you've taken AP Lang in High School but do make sure you do all the papers as they're heavily weighed. I enjoyed her class so much that I'm taking ENG 112 with her.

Proff Mowbray is great and made classes engaging. She give good feedback on everything. Grading is clear and so are instructions for assignments. As long as you keep up with assignments, you should be fine!

She is one of the best professors that I have ever had in my entire life. She is a very caring person who has a lot of knowledge about the course and materials. Going to her office during hours has really benefited me a lot because I got to ask important questions about the assignments and she is very understanding.

I usually hate writing in general but after taking her class she made it fun to do the assignment. the assignment are easy to understand and it really give the freedom of creativity on what student can write. I recommend this class for people who are going to have their first semester at NOVA.

Took her online class for ENG 112 - easy A. Professor is very helpful & easy to reach by email or zoom hours. Gives good feedback & is very UNDERSTANDING when it comes to extensions. Its an english class so obviously there's writing to do, but she is evn willing to give u feedback on the major assignments before submitting them. LOVE HER!

I took ENG 111 last spring and ENG 112 in the summer with zero hesitation, this professor is awesome. Take her class and you won't regret it, I took ENG 112 in the 6-week summer and it was really interesting. Such a great professor. work hard in her class, do your HW, and you will definitely get an A.

Show up for class and pay attention. All assignments are done in stages, which makes it easier. She reviews written assignments and gives feedback before you have to turn them in. Will give extra time on assignments if asked before the due date. Unfortunately, ENG 112 was canceled, so I wasn't able to take her again.

I struggle with writing, but her class wasn't hard. I improved my writing from her class. She doesn't grade harshly and gives good feedback. With the writing assignments, she always lets you pick what topic you want to write about. The assignments are not hard. She's a very nice professor and gives you weekly videos to help you with assignments.

Literally the best professor you will ever get.Both her ENG 111 and 112 are great.Super understanding if you can't complete something on time and will give you extensions as long as you giver her a 24 hour notice. She is very funny and interactive with the students and really makes you want to participate in the class even if you don't talk a lot.

Prof Mowbray is overall a very solid teacher at NOVA. I like to think all english teachers have a good soul and she is a very good example of one. Her assignments are simple, understood, and don't take too much time. There aren't many papers, but their will be more projects, which i personally prefer. Overall, I really recommend her to anyone.

She's a great teacher who give really good feedback and is very understanding. If your not good at English she is a great teacher to help with that. In her class she requires attendance and you can only skip 2 days but in class its mostly conversations or practice writing. She is one of the best English teachers I had and I highly recommend her.
