Prof Neitzel knows the material..and if you want easy class, THIS IS IT!
Very easy class...very good teacher...take this course!
She's easy and it is most likely the easiest multicultural requirement.
terrible, her class is boring, you have to do lots of reading
Good teaching skills; a _lot_ of reading.
Her grading is totally arbitrary and she is unreasonable....
stubborn woman- go by the guidelines to do well- nothing creative!keep it simple
Very easy if the work is done. Must attend class. HATES VERSITY with a PASSION!!
easy if reading is done, study notes, grades pretty easily
Wonderful teacher, very knowledgable and helpful
easy class just do the work, willing to give good grades
Wonderful teacher...enthusiastic, prepared, flexible, and kind.
Professor is well organized, neat, and friendly. Great course!!
do the exams and the fieldwork exactly as she says to and it is EASSSSSSY!!!
do EXACTLY what she says, with no deviation, and u will pass.
Very nice, little boring and tells exactly what to do for assignments!!
if you want to take anthropology 101, this is the class for you!
I no longer have any desire to study anthropology
Go to class and read assigned books = Instant A

EASY CLASS! Just do the work exactly as she says. She is a great professor.
Don't read the books, go to class and listen to others talk about them, get an A
awesome teacher, go to class and do the assignments - u will get an A for sure
This class is horrible....test questions very vague...never take this class
Annoying teacher, easy class-dont read the books just follow her directions
You dont have to read the books to get an A, just go to class and pay attention.
annoying and boring but easy
EASY CLASS. copy vocab words from board, follow her directions EXACTLY, get an A
Great teacher, showed cool videos. I learned alot from her
very easy class. lots of videos. do exactly what she says and youll get an A
Classic bucket theory of learning, she fills you up, you spit back out = A.
DONT GET ON HER BAD SIDE!!!
unfair grader, make sure she likes you, don't be origional or creative on tests
unfair grader; don't be creative, follow her directions, hope for the best

Worst Episode ever
terrible grading
class was antagonistic but easy, she is often rude, not a good am class

easy material, but gets redundant... gives you attitude when you confront her
repeated and too much work,arduous..sick of course...painful
easy class, go take notes = easy A. gives the midterm and final answers to you
Easy exams, average quizzes, easy projects, as long as you follow what she says
Easy Freshman level class, but have to keep up with work in order to do well
She actually told me not to be creative on a paper.Bad dresser. Not best teacher
I'd compare her to a Nazi dictator... easy A... just painful to go to class!
A LOT of work. must go to class. do what she says for papers, or take an F.AVOID
VERY easy, but you need to attend each and every class for it to be that way.
must be in class to hand in hmwk...boring...
If you go to class and follow the way she wants things done , you can get an A.
Class may be boring.. just follow instructions, easy A
She's a little scatterbrained, but its a pretty easy class
Strange, but she tries. Easy class if you pay attention and follow her rules.
ANAL! Easy class if you have past quizes. Follow directions on papers=easy A
She is on crack! So dumb! stupid little rules. But do what she says and get B
Tough professor. Do things her way or get B's on everything.
dumb, ****(hates guys), unclear, useless course, run away...now

Says exactly what to do for exams, quizzes, papers; easy A if you do it her way
She's great! Explains exactly what will be on quizzes/exams...fun class!
She is so friggin anal. She stifles creativity.
interesting class, a lot of work/reading, Neitzel is Great!

Do exactly as she says and you'll get an A.
Go to class, take some notes, follow directions and you'll get an A
She's nuts, but class is so easy even a Phi Sig girl could get an A
She's such a lunatic, she'll drive you insane.Gives busywork instead of teaching
do exactly what she says for everything and you're set, an A is no problem
really interesting, you gain real experience, easy A
Do exactly want she says = easy A, not a social butterfly
sucks, but get A
incredibly easy, way too anal about how she wants things done, what's up with the coudoroy pants in different colors?
The assignments are unclear and if you don't do exactly what she wants, then you're screwed. She's boring and VERY anti-social. Don't waste your time... bang your head into a wall; you'll learn more.
She's VERY unclear about what she wants, and favors students. She's like a very bad high school teacher. I can't wait to fill out the course evaluation forms.

Everything has to be done her way, she's hard to approach with questions, and she treats the class like a high school course. There are way too many pointless books to read, and papers to write.
funny lady....do what she wants and it's an easy A. spells out how to get a 100 on midterm and final.
Unless you like to read a book every week and write papers about them, avoid it! Otherwise. . .pretty easy grader
Way too much work for an elective, easy A if you do everything, she's anal and takes attendance everyday. DON'T TAKE THIS, THERE'S MUCH EASIER ELECTIVES TO TAKE
This is the easiest class I've had here yet!! There are a lot of high school level homework assignments, But who's complaining....Take this class!!
Funny lady and easy A, but you have to go to class she takes attendence, easy assignments and tests. Overall good class!
really nice teacher, have to go to class, gives stupid easy assignments and extra credit, basically just memorize vocab from lectures and assignments and will do AWESOME
funny lady, lots of annoying little assignments...but a very easy grader, takes attendance frequently
Easy grader...easy class...easy A. She tells you EXACTLY what she wants to see on all of the assignments. If you follow her instructions...you will be fine. Lots of extra credit too!
Almost like a high school class. Lots of busy but easy work. She tells you exactly what she wants. Easy class overall.
Talks like she's being electrocuted by a low current, which is disconcerting. Required museum trip is kind of a pain.

Talks to us like kindergarteners. Assignments are designed for junior high school.
Very clear. Yes, assignments are kind of silly, but they are well-designed enough to get the point across, and you will learn what you need to know for the exams. Interesting class; a good pick for group requirements.
Easy A if you go to class and can write half-way decently. She can be neurotic, but you have to take her behavoir with a grain of salt.
Dr. N. is kind, welcomes questions and has lots of info to offer to the class. Very clear in assignments and demands the best from the students. She should be nominated for an award at the university!
Treats you like you're in 5th grade but also grades that way. She should've been an elementary school teacher. Do the busy work and go to class and easy A
tells you exactly want see wants written in essays. Lot of busy work but it makes you learn everything. Easy A. Take atleast one class with her.
Very easy class and teacher. She lets you know exactly what she wants from you from the very beginning of the semester. I would definitely take this class for an easy A.
Easiest class I've taken at UD so far. It's like a high school class. All you have to do is GO TO CLASS. She outlines the final exam in class for 3 weeks, and gives quiz questions in class.
Even though the fill-in the blank quizzes can be tougb at times, the essays, easy final exam, and extra credit opportunities will enable any student to get an A. Def recommend.
Don't be intimidated. I thought that she would be an impossible grader, but she is actually very fair. A lot of work in this class, but I got an A
Great teacher, goes over all the points you have to know and basically tells you what everything will be on. Not a hard grader as long as you put some effort into it.
Tells you exactly what she wants from you...over and over and over and over....take for group requirements, easy A
Seems intimidating but don't let her fool you. She tells you exactly what she wants, gives tons of extra credit points for those who come to and stay in class ( she WILL call you out if you leave in the middle ), and if you show up, its an easy A.
Other reviews can mislead but just be aware she's one of those teachers that plays favorites. often makes innappropriate comments that insult certain genders/races/etc. her grading is skewed (never know if your work is A or C to her - not consistent)
Exactly like my most annoying and boring High School classes. Mostly waste-of-time busy work. Very fickle and picky when grading assignments- you never know if you're going to get an A or a C. Plenty of extra credit opportunities that no one has time to actually do.
EXTREMELY EASY CLASS! i thought she was hilarious.you need the book, and you have to go to class to hand in homeworks. reading 3 books was kind of a pain.
Easy A, but collects homework on random days to make sure you're coming to class. Textbook is pointless. Most material comes from class notes and discussions. Quizzes and exams, decently easy. Lots of stupid extra credit, but worth it. 3 must-read books were the only downside.
definately go to class and do the extra credit=A+. she tests you on the same material over and over. shes weird but its an easy class.
The class is an easy, easy A. Def make sure that you go to class, she is really into attendance. And do the extra credit stuff! Just to keep your grade safe. If you go to class you will know exactly what is on the quizzes. And she tests you on the same stuff. Def take it as your multicultural!!
Ridiculously easy, its like a hs class. Material is decent, the books are ok, but she takes attendance and I didn't learn much.
This is a very easy class, take it if you want an easy A for a group B requirement. There is a lot of busywork though (which really doesn't take that much time to do), and you must come to class, but if you're ok with that, then take the class. The tests are easy if you know the vocab and take good notes.

She makes the class very interesting and if you come to class, the textbook reading isn't really necessary. Also offers 2-3 extra credit assignments for up to 10-15 points so getting an A is easy and very possible. She's very clear and she's also pretty funny sometimes. Definately take her.
she is mad easy...i love her, even tho she doesnst call on me. She gives extra credit for comin to class on rainy days and to watch movies. ya take this women, her tests are remedial just memorize the definitions and youll be straight.
TAKE THIS FOR YOUR GROUP B REQUIREMENT!!! See her during office hours if u need anything, she will help u. If she is still using the Gary Ferraro Book buy the old (5th) edition on amazon its alot cheaper and its the same exact thing.
Very particular at grading, however the class is not difficult. There are a few very easy projects. The text book really isnt necessary. Go to class though b/c she hands out readings that will be used on the tests. Nice lady who is interested in the subject.
best class ive taken at this university. great teacher....you can tell she loves anthropology. Take this class if its offered!!!!!
Kind of a strange lady, but not a bad class. Tests are very Fair and not too hard. The mandatory books kind of suck, but once you start reading its not horribly boring. Assignments are not bad and she grades good. Very particular on spelling on tests. Overall, a good class-I got an A with not too much effort. Recommended.
I am in the middle of taking this class right now. This woman is EVIL! She requires you to do so much B.S. outside of class. Uninteresting and neurotic. If you're looking for an easy class, this is not it. Do not take unless you enjoy frustration.
I don't know how anyone could say this class was hard. The fact that she gives a lot of extra assignments HELPS your grade incase you don't do so well on the exams. She posts examples of grade "A" assignments on her website, so you know what she's looking for. I got a B+ in this class with basically no effort.
Lots of extra credit great...but besides that she is awful she gives way to much work for a 101 class.Makes you read book after book and article after article
This is the WORST professor at UD ever! Besides the fact that her voice shakes ALL the time which is really annoying, she expects you to complete way too much reading. You must read 3 really boring books and way to many articles. Plus the exams consist of short answer questions and essays. She takes off for spelling too! DON'T take this class!
She means well, but expects a lot from students for a 101 class. It's possible to get an A without reading the 3 books because she gives so much extra credit.
She is a very good prof. Class is easy (though a little boring at times). She offers many different EC assignments. The readings can be boring but she goes over the material you need to know for quizes and tests right before it so if you go to class and study what she gives you, you can get a good grade without even reading the books. I got A's.
Dr. Neitzel is a caring and excited professor. She is a bit nutty, but she will be the first to laugh at herself. Yes, there is a lot of reading and she does takes points off for spelling, but this is college! She is helpful and attentive during her office hours and offers lots of extra credit so that anyone can do well, even poor spellers.
worst teacher ever..impossible tests, worst lectures, makes you leave class if you dont read the assigment...DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!
Horrible teacher... her voice shakes, you have to read way to much, hard fill in the blank tests, grade is based upon extra credit.
Her voice is so annoying because it quivers the whole entire class. The fill in the blank tests are impossible. The class is based completely on extra credit assignments. If you didnt do the assigned readings for class she makes everyone leave so they can go do it. Worst teacher for a introduction class.
Anthropology of food - I liked the course and did well, but some students didn't - def. not an "easy A". She takes attendence, which is part of your grade. Exams were challenging, and there were multiple homework asmts/projects/papers. No grading rubric & few comments given for this stuff, so many thought wtf when they got their grades...
This class was easy but I didn't like her at all. TONS of extra credit so its an easy A, but i don't know if it was worth it. Lots of stupid busy work. 5 pop quizes but she drops one. Does not let you make them up even with a Dr note. Try and take anth with a different prof but it's not too bad if you get her. BTW, really annoying voice.
Easy grader, attendance required, voice can be irritatingly warbly but in all is nice enough. Interesting class with a few papers and fair tests. I recommend the class.
Class can be interesting sometimes. Material is not hard to grasp if you actually read! She goes over almost everything in class. Exams are very straightforward if you study. Lots of opportunities for extra credit. Easy A if you study & do the extra credit.
This class is not really an easy A. However, if you do the 50 pts worth of extra credit and get at least an 80 on both exams, then you should be fine, as long as you dont screw up the pop quizzes. Hint: look at the ones from the past semesters. They help a lot. The reading at the end is annoying though. Good final review system.
She seems like a nice lady, who seems very passionate about her field, but this class has a lot of busy work-hw's, little quizzes, projects besides the two exams. If she finds out you haven't done the readings, she will make you leave class& finish it. She also gave me attitude- I told her that I was interested in her class, but it wasn't my major
Wow, what a rude person! I remember talking to her on the first day about how I was interested in her class even though Anthro's not my major and she seemed cold and standoffish.Hard exams but a lot of busy work/extra credit makes up for it. Overall not a bad class, but not a very nice professor!
it was a pretty easy class, do the work, its not bad and you rack up points. she gives extra credit so take advantage of it. its an easy A as long as you put minimal effort in. to get an A just do all assignments and get in the 80s for the test and you're set!!! but she is rude if you're not in her major. she takes random attendance
Jill Neitzel is definately one of my favorite professors so far. She says to read chapters from the book, but as long as you go to class you don't really need to because almost every exam is based off of what we talked about in class. She's a fun professor who scatters her lectures with amusing stories, and a lot of videos. Definately take her!!!
Teacher is great! The tests are a little difficult...but she gives lots of assignments which helps you get an A in the class. ATTEND EVERY CLASS because all of the test stuff is from class..but overall great teacher and you learn a lot
anthro of food, very interesting. do the readings and the outlines she assigns. she takes attendance by collecting the homework. such an easy class, she's so clear as to what she wants you to do. a lot of little assignments to boost your grade. and take good notes, quizzes/exams rely heavily on what she says.
Nice woman overall, very easy to understand and she holds your attention well enough. Tests and quizzes are a little tough and most questions are straight from notes so go to class. Also, she gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, some of which you can only get is you go to class a certain day.
I laughed at my friends when I heard they signed up for Spring 2009...the class was ok, but for the most part boring. You only really need the book to get the definitions of terms...don't bother actually reading any of it, just copy the terms. Go to class and take good notes. Be prepared to be a bit flustered with the tests, they're generally hard.
I had her class at 8am, ruined my GPA for the semester. She doesn't really teach anything, you just read the book and watch videos. she looks for very specific answers on exams and uses a "Fill in the Blank"/ essay format. You end up with about 100 vocab words, 40 questions on the exam and no word bank, which I was never able to master.
I went to every class and only managed to get an A by the 30 points of extracredit. Her notes are all over the place and you really have to attend the classes to be able to do well on the test since almost all questions deal with class stuff. You don't really need to read the class book, but MUST read the two other books; not a great teacher
Ehh, she's okay. Strange grading, I never did figure out what I was doing wrong. She makes assignments and gives tests with very specific answers in mind, and it is sometimes impossible to come up with just what she wants. She often misunderstood what people are saying. No major complaints, but I wouldn't absolutely recommend her.
gives way to much work for an intro class. we had to read four books, written assignments are due almost every class. there is extra credit though.
GO TO CLASS! IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND CLASS, YOU WILL FAIL THE ENTIRE COURSE! do the assignments that are wroth 10/15 points-EASYY! you can get by without reading the books. she gives at least 25 points in extra credit. she basically tells you what will be on the test as long as you ATTEND CLASS! if you do not go to class-you will be screwed.
This professor can be compared to a young girl who follows her dreams and becomes a professional in her field, but hates the teaching component. Does not interface well with students. Grades based on written assignments which are graded with little or no comments. Has no idea of the real working world since she spends her days in the proverbial "
I took this class because I was really interested in archaeology and to fill the group requirement, however by the end of the semester I was dreading every minute of class. It is easy, but the exhibit review, in which you're required to visit a museum, was a total pain to deal with. Easy A, but more trouble than it probably was worth.
I'd recommend ANTH230 in Winter session to ANYONE. Great for a Group C, or a Multicultural Requirement. Gives extra credit. Funny lady! Very passionate about subject. Short, VERY EASY quizzes, final is watching a movie of your choice and writing a paper on it. Books are short and interesting, NOT textbooks. Easy A!
very nice however, very unclear in explaining things.
GO TO CLASS!!!! She give you everything you need for the tests. Tts are multiple choice/a few essay questions and she gives the essay questions to you prior. Very interactive with class and she makes it fun. If you have questions ask, she will answer you without making you feel dumb. Take this class with her if you get the chance!
I took her archaeology course, and found it absolutely useless! All we did was watch videos and do tedious and rudimentary "projects." On tests, and papers she was extremely objective to the point where she stifled creativity. She was also rude to non-Anthro majors and did nothing for my interest in the subject!
THIS IS THE WORST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN. I didn't believe the comments on there that this class was hard but believe me NOT an easy A and I went to every class. Obscure tests. Lectures were rather scrambled. Good luck...
She does a great job of moving along lectures and sometimes they are really funny, the gender role lectures comes in mind. However, even though the test are fairly easy and completely based on the powerpoints (I never read the book although she doesnt post them online), you have to essentially think like her in order to do well. Overall good class.
You have to go to class to get the notes. Studying is important for the 4 exams but the questions are very obscure that sometimes is doesn't even matter how much you study. I liked the material that was offered but I didn't like the class because it was at 8am and the lectures were scattered and the exams were confusing.
you really need to study for the 4 quizzes and attend class for the notes or just get the notes from other people. she says everything you need for them. other than that there are like 3 group essays that she will probably give you a 100 on and there is no final. TAKE HER IF YOU CAN.
If you are a hard working student and you go to class then you should take her. You have four tests, no exam and she feeds you what will be on the tests in class. As long as you go to class you do not have to do the reading that she tells you to. If you show up to class, and take notes, you'll get a good grade.
TAKE HER!!! Go to class, pay attention, take notes and you WILL pass the class with an A. 4 quizzes, 2 group papers, 1 group exam. She is really nice and helpful.
What an incredible woman! My friend and I took this class for a Group B and Multi-Cultural. We were pleasantly surprised with how easy everything was. We never fell asleep, we were always interested, she's hilarious, passionate, and a great speaker. I learned a lot of fun words, I'll probably get an A, the quizzes are MATCHING :) Take this class!!!
go to class & you'll get an A. no final exam, only one exam which is a group exam that consists of a paper. 4 quizzes, matching. she's not boring. easy group requirement
Overall easy class. Take the final "group exam" (your final) as soon as possible, I got 100% on mine and it is saving my grade. She's a little nuts, but she gives you all the info you need for the tests, which are all matching. Gives ample extra points besides quizzes which is nice.
Neitzel is a very nice lady. She comes off as crazy at first, but she is very helpful. The class ended up being very interesting. I suggest you go to class and do the readings because then the quizzes are very, very easy. Overall, pretty fair course. No final just 4 quizzes and a group paper. Take this class with someone you know for the paper.
Class is very easy if you actually pay attention. You should do the reading but if you don't just take really good notes. She comes off as insane but she's actually really nice when you get to know her. Go to her office hours. 4 matching exams and one good project. Probably a good idea to make friends in that class.
Neitzel is a little annoying and cranky when she teaches, but with that being said, she does a decent job. Lectures are somewhat interesting and she gives all the information needed to do well on quizzes. Attending lecture is essential to getting an A. Reading every once in a while may help, but it is not as vital.
I took the online class over summer. Decent amount of reading: text + 2 novels (1st is okay, 2nd is AMAZING). Writing: 9 blog posts + 2 short essays - simple topics, apply concepts to real life. 3 matching quizzes - not just terms + definitions! MUST watch lectures + do reading! She explains stuff really well. Do the work + you'll get a good grade.
Very easy class as an elective. Some of the topics you talk about are interesting, but you don't really need to read the books to do well in class. Overall enjoyable class.
This class is ridiculous. She criticized my writing for being "too advanced" for the class. If you do good on the test, you probably are as unintelligent as she. Her voice is unbearable and she dresses like she's blind. Not helpful when approached. Do not take! she doesn't realize Anthro is a joke of a class
Gives exams that are grammatically incorrect. Assigns a final group project and told my group as well as other groups to "simplify them". Any professor that cannot understand college-level writing is not worth taking in my opinion.
The content of the course was interesting. This class required 3 group papers which add up to more than half of your grade, so if you're unlucky and join bad groups, your final grade will suffer. Also, she was occassionally disrespectful towards the students. The assignments and the way she treated the students were reminiscent of high school.
HORRIBLE! I wish I read these rating before taking her online ANTH class. She is VAGUE but demands a lot on essay questions for the final exam. The questions were broad and confusing but only SOMEWHAT defined and explained the questions when flooded with student emails. Even AFTER her clarification, still confusing. Talks down to you in emails.
She makes the class very interesting and is clear on the information you need to know for the test. It is a big lecture class but she does a nice job of incorporating everyone. Anthro is a lot of new information but if you keep up with it its relatively easy. However; she doesn't know how to work a youtube video for her life.
She is so funny! She really cares about her students and wants them to do well. Tests are pretty hard, but as long as you pay attention you'll be ok.
I took this online course in the summer so there was quite a bit of work to complete in short period of time. Professor Neitzel was responsive and accommodating to email requests. If you do the work and pay attention, you will earn an A. I learned so much about myself through this course.
annoying voice, treats class like high school level, talks down to you, not helpful. I would try to avoid taking her section if you think anth101 is easy A or B.
Gives a good amount of extra credit. Only have to read the books for class attendance so not that important to have. No final, only 3 tests (matching & 2 short answer) and a paper. Tests are straight from lectures so go & take good notes. Somewhat annoying & doesn't know how to use a computer well. If you put in some effort you can get an A or B.
I had no interest in the class and now I'm going to double major with ANTH. As long as you show up to class and pay attention she is nice to you and the class isn't super hard. She is kind of absent minded but she is funny and quick witted. I would suggest t to anyone.
Ok, I'm gonna say it how it is. There are 3 tests, matching and short essays. The matching is ridiculous. Ex; marriage would match to "sometimes they buy a house". Vague and unrealistic choices. Unless you can write and publish your essay, she will give you a 50%. Only reason I passed is because of attendance/group paper. Horrible class. Avoid!!
She is a bit condescending towards the class, and I will not lie, her voice is very annoying, but she does a great job for a 100 level class. Copy down everything she puts on the powerpoint, it shows up verbatim on the test. Books aren't necessary, but will help you get extra info to put on the essay portion of your tests. Easy A and no final! :)
Awful woman. Annoying voice. She would get grouchy and yell at the class if she didn't have a banana, she straight up said she gets mad if she doesn't have a banana. Very condescending. I would avoid her classes. She should just retire.
Incredibly boring class and the tests are way harder than expected. If you have to take this class find a different professor
I thought this class was extremely difficult. There is a large work load, and you have to take great notes or you won't do well on the test. It's a verbal course. There is hardly any material written on the slides and she doesn't post them online. Tests are impossible. Even if you know what you're doing, the questions are vague.
Huge workload. We had to read three different novels throughout the semester. They were boring and we had about a week to read each one. I read all three books but there was only one question about it on the exam which was so frustrating.
Professor is very clear and helpful. But grades hard. Exams are a bit difficult. Matching options are hard to understand. Attendance is mandatory, she does not post notes online(unless she can't access the videos) or has course capture. Sometimes had extra credit during class.
Her exams make no sense especially the matching. She doesn't really go over much in class but what she goes over you better know because just reading that boring book wont help. I ended up Auditing this class because of how ridiculous it is.
I took Anth344 for an upper level breadth as an engineering with absolutely no interest in the class. I put pretty much no effort and if I had tried a little could have gotten an easy B if not A. Despite me not trying at all Neitzel is a likeable lady and cares about her students.
I really liked this class. The only thing that sucked was that it was at 8am and attendance is pretty important unless you know someone who can give you the notes. She has three tests (including the final) and 2 projects. She also gives opportunity for extra credit.
She gives a lot of readings and kind of pointless assignments, but if you do them all you should do fine in the class. Her exams are only really challenging if you don't study. Just go to class and review your notes and you'll be fine.
Ridiculous and insane: that's what you are if you take her after reading this review. The class itself makes sense only to her. Her terms are just wrong (cosmology means worldview?), she is arrogant in the manner she speaks, matching sucks, etc. Has a hatred towards christianity, very boring. Get your breadth elsewhere (ps no more slides)
Long and boring lectures combined with long readings, but at least the readings are interesting. But homework is loaded with vocab and questions. Must read 3 novels through out the semester as well. Tries to make 200 person class a 20 person class by assigning group work in class. Gives pop quizzes sometimes . Tests are ambiguous. Picks on people.
do not recommend this class if you don't have to take it.. exams are hard because they are opinionated - if you can't think like her you're screwed. lots of readingvocab. must go to lectures or get notes from someone. absolutely NO technology - she will find you and yell at you. she's pretty rude and enjoys picking on people
Her lectures are actually pretty interesting. However, exams are very confusing and hard. I thought it would be easier because she said it's matching. She doesn't give you the definition to match it to, but she gives examples from the book. Don't skip class because she gives pop quizzes. Anyways, this class is definitely not an easy A.
The workload is ridiculous for a 101 breadth The tests are matching with normally 35 options, and they are not an assessment of the information you know but rather if you know what she believes. Pop quizzes, homework, long boring readings, and more and more work PLEASE dont make the same mistake i did and take something else. You wont regret it
She is an excellent professor. So friendly, nice, and helpful. This course is very interesting and inspirational. No exam, definitely take it with her!!!!!!
I didn't find the class extremely difficult as long as you do most of the work. She assigns a lot of readings and homework, but she goes over most of the information in class so it isn't necessarily essential that you do it. She is passionate about the subject and she wants you to do well, but she is very picky. Make sure you take good notes!
Makes you read three novels (I only skimmed through and did just fine), go to class and take good notes since exams are all from her notes, picks on people so don't wear a hat or something that she can easily spot or she'll call out on you. Overall, pretty interesting class, loved the movie reviews, she gave extra credits but tons of reading.
No laptops or slides used in class. Must attend lecture to get material to study. To do well just take notes verbatim to what she says and study that for tests. I did no homework, studied no more than an hour per test and got A's, got full credit on EASY assignments, and did all extra credit. got a 104%.... guy next to me got a D.. idk how...
Overall this summer online class is okay but do not expect it to be easy. We were expected to read almost 3 books in 5 weeks, three 25 question quizzes , 2 papers, 9 plus blogs and 4 page final essay that dropped my grade from a 95% to 85%.
jill really knows her stuff and wants her students to succeed, shes a little nutty but means well. lots of hw assignments that are sometimes annoying but can really help your grade. exams arent too bad- matching & free response. shes not a super hard grader but dont expect an easy A. no online notes and she gives pop quizzes, so go to class!!
She gives you extra credit, but she is really picky with her homework. She will call you out if you aren't paying attention. She is extremely boring and will put you to sleep, especially if you take her 8am. I would recommend not taking her class!
All of her exams are matching, which I do not believe should ever be a test format. She made it impossible to match many things, but as long as you know the key vocab that she points out at the end of every lecture you will be okay. And make sure you do the readings. Two essays for the final, kinda tough grader but not too bad.
This class blows. Tough grader and makes/grades the class like a high school teacher over stupid stuff like 5 point assignments and writing exercises. Watch out for quizzes because they're all matching on a computer. Overall this class is one of the worst classes I've taken at the U of D
I took this over winter session online because I heard it was a harder course to take in person. It ended up being pretty easy. 3 quizzes that are multiple choice, a couple papers, she gives extra credit, and the final is a paper. Overall if you watch the power point lectures and take notes you will be fine. The papers are straight forward!
Took Anth101 online over the summer. The quizzes are all multiple choice and aren't hard as long as you study key terms. Do as little reading as you need to understand those key terms. 4 essays, 2 were the final. Prof's voice is annoying in online lectures but between those and the reading it's an easy a.
For an intro level course, the material is too heavy. You have to know specific things from the texts that exemplify definitions or concepts to pass the class. Extra credit helps.
probably the most boring class ever, only reason to take it is that covers group 1 breadth and multicultural requirement. Exams are easy if you study the quizzes she gives every class. did not read any of the assigned books. plenty of oppurtunity for extra credit. Put little effort, got an A
She makes tests practically impossible, and it seems as though she is trying to trick you. Tough grader and makes the class a hassle, which sucks because the material is extremely interesting
Class was way harder than it should have been for an intro level course. Lectures were extremely boring the lecture material wasn't available outside of class. Test questions were bizarrely specific and atrociously hard. Avoid at all costs, take any other professor or take her online so you never have to interact w/ this bitter old lady in person.
Took her class online over winter session and it's been very difficult. The lectures are hard to listen to and the wording on the quizzes is extremely confusing. Good luck!!
A little cooky but nice lady unless you push her buttons. Very organized and good lecture slides. However, her exams are very difficult (especially the matching section). You really gotta work hard to get a good grade in this class.
There are 3 exams, one is a final, and they are all relatively easy. Matching with some MC and fill ins. Most of her test questions are based on the in class discussion group quizzes. You only have to show up to class on your discussion day, test day, and days when assignments are do. Her lectures are very boring but she does give extra credit.
ANTH232 This class totally changed my views on the world and cultures around me. Its half chinese and american students mostly. Hopefully a few middle eastern students join your semester as well. Jill is an amazing teacher, you just have to go to class. Good news is there are no tests. However, you do have to do blog posts in facebook
i hate ANTH but the class was fine! so many opportunities to raise your grade. JUST GO TO CLASS! everyone that is negatively reviewing that is their issue. if you go to class she gives you hints about exams. there are days when you are assigned to take a quiz (easy 10 pts) and all of the quizzes are on the exam so thats easy. shes weird but FINE
I am a good student and have always excelled in classes, but had to take this pass/fail. You don't talk about what you'll be quizzed on. You will spend majority of your time trying to figure out what she wants on papers, which she changes her mind about. This class is harder than you think. If you're not good at making stuff up, don't take this.
There are 3 tests for the course, each one based on the specific unit you are studying in class. There is a lot of reading and homework to do for every class and she gives a daily vocabulary quiz. There are a few long term assignments that require a lot of outside time spent writing and completing. If you're a hard worker you can get an A.
This class was extremely easy! If you go to class and participate, you'll pass! The only homework is to register a Facebook account and she will post prompts that you need to answer in the private 'ANTH232' group. You will then have to comment at least 15 times overall. Easy A. There are no lectures or exams, you just need to participate in class.
Really nice professor. She had a lot of small assignments throughout the semester but it helped buffer the quizzes and papers. The class was super interesting. There were 4 textbooks and we had to read them all cover to cover but they were interesting books! I liked the format of the class and the professor was amazing at giving feedback! 10/10
Winter class that was very well-structured. I was skeptical of online learning before this, but she spreads out assignments very well and I didn't feel sidewinded by any deadlines. The only professor who actually teaches you well with online message boards. Only negative is her quizzes read like a crossword puzzle with really vague definitions.
She is outrageously strict with grading. I spelled a word wrong on a short response for a test and got full credit removed for the question. You have to elaborate on all answers, even the simple "what was this?" Also: she does not take attendance but if you don't show up, you're not gonna pass. Most of her lectures are completely verbal.
She does not do UD capture and does not post her powerpoints online so if you miss class you basically miss out on whatever happened that day unless you got someone to take notes for you. She also does worksheets so if you miss class make sure to email her so she can send it to you. There are three essays we had to turn in and she grades hard.
I loved this professor, she is hilarious and made anthropology interesting. Tough essay grader though, and the tests have a lot of content and are not easy. It was hard for a breadth but she offers extra credit. Attendance is mandatory too, vocab on exams are the quizzes and her lectures.
Hard for a 100 level class. She's a really specific grader when it comes to the essays. The exams are okay as long as you study the online quizzes. Could get an A if you really work hard and never miss class.
I took this class online as an elective hoping that it would be an easy A like I heard it would be, and for the most part it was. It was all pretty easy except for the final exam which was 2 papers, and she graded them extremely strictly. Her instructions for the papers were pretty confusing. Even though it was mostly easy her grading was stressful
I took this class to fill a breadth requirement. It was an interesting class and I enjoyed the material we learned about. The tests were a little abstract, but they were taken straight from the online practice quizzes so I did fine. She did have oddly specific criteria for the papers though. Don't forget your thesis!!!
Appears to be a mild mannered old lady, by the amount of reading you have to do and the amt. of material covered in class, you'd think the tests are difficult. they're simple matching tests that mimic her practice quizzes. fairly easy, but she's tough on essays (and unwilling to talk about the grade she gave you if it's poor).
This class is definitely worth taking becasue it is super easy, very interesting and fun. The three big things that you're graded on are facebook posts/comments, group presentations, and one short essay which none of these are difficult. Just show up to class becasue attendance is taken plus what you do is very interesting and you'll learn a lot
Do yourself a favor and take ANTH232. One of the best classes I've taken. Very easy and you get to learn a lot of interesting material and talk to people you normally wouldn't. Neitzel can be annoying, and the class is discussion based with lots of little assignments. For the most part, I really enjoyed it.
She is a very quirky character and it can be a lot if it is an 8am class as mine was. If you go to class and do the worksheets you will 100% pass. I did bad on the tests and papers and still passed with a C+ because of the worksheets.
Quizzes are extremely hard and are almost similar to a cross word puzzle. She has key terms that you need to know but for the quizzes know the applications of the terms more so than the definition. Too many projects/assignments also. I would not take her class again. She does respond quickly when you email her.
took this class online for winter session. there are 3 exams, 2 "projects",and a final exam which is essay format. all of the blogs were very easy. the projects were fine but she grades them as if you are in an english class. she takes so many points off for grammar and "not polished writing." exams are fine but can be a little vague.
This class could have been interesting if she knew how to explain things. She spends way too much time talking about things that you won't see on any of the quizzes or online discussions. The quizzes are extremely confusing and vague. Her grading style is ridiculous, and she picks apart your writing. Most assignments are due on Fri/Sat nights.
Honestly one of the easiest classes you'll ever take, but also very informing. I looked forward to going and learning about a different culture. Your grade consists of facebook posts through the class group, and commenting at least 10 times on other peoples post. You also write a 3-4 page paper as a final but other than that no exams or anything.
Jill Neitzel is the worst professor at UD. If the goal for the anthro class is to expose students to different cultures to broaden their perspective, it fails spectacularly as Neitzel would rather you do busy work than any serious learning. Her expectations are never clear and all she gives is busy work. What a waste of a college course and tuition
Three quizzes during a semester and a take-home essay as a final. The quizzes are just about the definitions and maps and they're absurd, they have nothing to do with the definitions she gives during the lectures. Don't waste your time doing the readings, there are quizlets done just google them, listen to lectures do extra cr it should be easy A.
Took ANTH101 online, absolutely terrible, would NOT recommend. All discussion posts are pointless, quizzes don't make any sense/have much relevance to what was actually discussed in lectures. I didn't learn much of anything about anthropology, yet spent way too much time doing work for this class.
Her tests are more than confusing. I spent hours studying for them and felt like I knew the material yet failed every single exam due to her confusing formatting and unclear question responses. She threatened to give me a 0 on the final for one mistake. I thought this would be an easy A and interesting class but it turned out to be a pain.
She is super nice and quick to answer emails. However, her quizzes have nothing to do with the lecture material, the modules have so much in them, and the discussions are loosely based off of the content. If you take this class the readings and reading study guides will be your best friend.
The professor is nice, response to emails fast, and the essays and discussion posts aren't too bad. What is worst is the exams in this class. The formatting is horrific with answer choices being extremely unclear. At the moment about 3/4 of the class has not gotten higher than 30% on the exams, and the only thing she said was to "Study more".
Professor Neitzel gives good feedback and replies quick, but don't take this class if you're looking for something that's going to be easy. I took this class asynchronously online and it was heavy on extra readings. Her quizzes are also matching based but are extremely difficult due to the unclear question wording. Very few relate back to lecture.
The class itself is fine and the quizzes are not difficult if you study the material beyond just definitions.
ANTH101 is not for you if you don't like reading and learning about culture. It is a challenging course, but extremely engaging and you will get out of it exactly what you put in (do not expect grade inflation or an "easy A"). The quizzes are not impossible if you do the (many) readings - in fact, they are quite clear and easy if you prepare well.
Idk where this lady gets off with all the time consuming assignments. Would never take again, ridiculous workload and unfair quizzes
If you want an A in this class there is a lot of reading like 3 hours or more a week, but what you read and the documentaries you watch are so rewarding its worth it. Her essay grading is fair and relatively easy as long as you put some work in but the quizzes are tricky, you have to know minute details for it so they're tough
The workload is ridiculous and the assignments are not only confusing but have nothing to do with the quizzes. I didnt learn anything from this class even though I spent so much time completing her assignments. Would not recommend.
This class has so so much reading. There are 3 quizzes with 24 terms that you pull from the huge amount of reading. Although that sounds easy the definitions are very vague and it is hard to match. It will also take about 2 hours everyday to keep up with the work. I wish I knew this before I signed up for this class. Lectures are also very boring.
Graded classwork is easy, but the lectures are awful. The topics are boring and she constantly stutters. Exams are extremely difficult and you have to apply the definition to the readings and lectures from class. Lots of readings too. I would not recommend for an "easy A"
Horrible. Tests make 0 sense and the definitions she gives have nothing to do with answers on the test. Our class average on quizzes is a literal 5 out of 25. She wont curve it, and its a waste of a class and will lower your GPA. Take a different class or get a different professor.
I took this class asynchronously and there were so many lectures, readings and discussions each week. I had some questions a few times so I emailed her and she was not helpful at all and quite frankly seemed pretty rude and annoyed by my questions every time. do not recommend everything will irritate you, terrible class, terrible professor.
It's an asynchronous class that is a free elective and is expected to be an easy class, however, it is ridiculously difficult for absolutely no reason.
The class was asynchronous so I never met her. Lectures were extremely long twice a week with a lot of readings on top of it. Tests were extremely difficult and different from what is included in the slides. Makes you go to the testing center to take 3 tests. No textbooks but 3 chapter books are needed. Was supposed to be an easy A class.
not the most interesting class but I do have to say Jill is a very easy grader as long as you write all your discussions as a raging liberal. The quizzes are brutal but barely dropped my grade. You also have to take them at a testing center which is dumb but overall I would say this is a simple breath to take.
This year was complicated because she was absent for most of the semester because of sickness. That said, she's super sweet and cares about what she's doing, and she deeply cares about all of her students. If you care, she'll care and try to help you out to the best of her ability. However, her tests are pretty complicated and confusing so beware.
The year was tough she was in the hospital for almost all of it but that being said I really did like her as a professor. She really cares about the material and wants you to do well. Her quizzes are actually impossible tho matching but such small differences in the answers.
