I was honestly worried going into this course, but Professor Page explains things so well & simply that I continuously got As on exams. She does clicker questions each class so you have to show up & if you get those then you usually understand the material. She also knows every students name, which is kind of shocking in a 130 person lecture.
Great teacher and gave homework and clicker quizzes which helped overall grade.. I would take her over all of the professors for 142!!!
Chemistry is really hard, but Page makes it not so scary. She is so helpful and very willing to meet with you when you need help. Her lectures are clear and easy to follow. If you need to take chemistry, take the class wit Page. She made my semester significantly less stressful because she is just an absolutely phenomenal professor.
Jill is an extremely fast talker, and flies through slides. She also gets a bit sassy when a student takes a while to understand the information.
Relates topics to everyday uses and is very clear. Grading policy is more than fair, very easy to get 100% on clicker questions and HW. Attending class is important to get the bonus points for all of the in class assignments. Took chem in high school so this class was a breeze.
Very nice, made lectures very simple and the tests very easy. Made Chem 142 easier than Chem 141 where I had a more difficult professor. I would definitely take Page for another chem class, even though she made it easy she still taught what needed to be taught, so that makes her a great teacher. Only problem is she's slightly boring.
Amazing professor. Took another CHM 141 prof 1st semester, got a D, so took a W. So I had to retake it with Page and received an A all semester, until the last exam, which brought me to a B+ final. Go to class to get clicker points, and print out the powerpoint slides prior to class, and fill them in. IT HELPS IMMENSELY, keeping you involved etc.
Prof. Page is a sweet, middle-aged mom who really cares about what she teaches and about her students. Her powerpoints are always posted online as well as study guides. Her exams are a little difficult but if you just look over the study guide for like half an hour you are golden.
I've never been great at chemistry, but Jill Page was a fantastic teacher who really makes things clear. She is very lecture heavy, but manages to make them interesting too.
Her lectures were thorough and she taught pretty slow. Detailed power points made it easy to understand difficult concepts. The homework was also easy considering each question was allowed several tries; there was several homework assignments due a week. The exams were easy too however the class didn't quite prepare me for the difficult ACS exam
Professor Page makes chemistry as easy and enjoyable as it gets. You do have to go to class to get participation points & do group work. There isn't any homework, but the exams are challenging. However, she puts her lectures online, gives a study guide, and helps as much as she can with preparing students for the exams. Would recommend her!!
Gives plenty of opportunities for homework and group work assignments. Also, provides plenty of study guide and clicker question answers for tests. Go to class for clicker question participation points.
Her exams only have 25 questions, so if you don't really know your stuff, you're doomed. Lectures are super repetitive and annoying. She does clicker questions every class and you get points just for answering, so that's a kinda plus.
Worst teacher I've ever had. I have a lot of chronic health issues and she was extremely inconsiderate about my conditions. I am good at chemistry, yet my grade was compromised because of my health and the lack of concern, consideration, and care from this professor.
A nice teacher. Four exams and the lowest one will be dropped, but still, kinda hard because if you only miss 3 questions then you will get a B, so just make sure you don't miss more than two questions. Review the lectures will be helpful for your exam and there has no really tricky question. So teacher is only going over the lectures in class.
take her!!!!!! she is wonderful!!
I loved her and had her for chem and a chem lab! Her chem class is lecture based and you use clickers for participation, so you have to show up but it's easy points. You have a lot of exams but they're all short and pretty easy. She's also very friendly and straightforward about what to expect in the class.
Shes a good teacher. You have 4 midterms and 1 final but they are only 25 questions so pretty basic. Has good lectures and lets ypu basically drop One of everything (midterm, groupwork, etc.). Also pretty hot for a 40-something professor.
I took Prof Page for Chem lab and lecture. She is a very caring professor and gives extra credit opportunity for the lecture and an opportunity to drop one of the lab reports. However, the lecture has 4 tests which includes 25 questions. Although you can drop the lowest test score, these can be hard and make or break your grade.
Overall, Professor Page is a great teacher. There are only four test, 10 group works, and final exam. I like her and her lecture.
Professor Page was great. I took the lab as well. Both were just like high school chemistry and overall easy. Exams are 25 questions and worth 100 points each but you get to drop your lowest and in the lab, you can drop two reports. You have participation points every day and group work often. Very easy if you show up and do the work.
Jill is SUPER nice, but incredibly disorganized. She gave online homework from two different sources and posted review guides online before every exam; but the review guides NEVER matched the exam content, and during class all she does is drone from the textbook-made powerpoint. Basically an on your own class, but attendance is for points.
I loved professor Page this semester! The class was relatively easy with no homework. The only downside is your grade is heavily weighted by four exams which are 25 questions each. If you miss just 3 questions, you are bumped down to a B which can be challenging.
She is AWESOME! Chem is a difficult subject for me, and she was always more than willing to help me when I went to her office hours (which she has all the time, and even moved to a bigger room because so many people were coming to them- she truly cares about her students!) She gives you PLENTY of opportunities to earn points outside of tests, too!
Need to study for exams to pass
Page is a fantastic choice for CHM if science is not your best subject. I had to take a chem class and she made it easy to understand, although her tests were challenging. only 4 exams that are only 25 multiple choice, so studying is necessary. She is always available outside of class and is very nice.
Her exams are very difficult and will either boost or ruin your grade. She lectures the whole class.
Attendance is taken using clicker questions. She said we should buy textbooks but I think we don't. Just study from her slides and study guide and you'll get A. There're 4 exams and 13 assignments and you can drop lowest one. You can cram exam for 1 night but not very recommended. Final is cumulative but not very difficult. Lots of extra credit
I have gone to office hours over and over, and she continues to help me on the lab reports. I keep getting 50% on the lab reports. Grading is done by TA and is extremely ridiculous. It's concerning when the professor blocks students from seeing the average grades on each assignment.
does not even show up in lab, the labs are entirely taught and graded by TA's. When I went to her for help she showed zero concern for my grade or for me. She doesn't bother with her students and it shows. When i went to her office hours I was not treated respectfully, I was treated as if I shouldn't have been in the class at all. very poor job.
I had a good experience; it was definitely easier than the main CHM111 course. The exams were easy, make sure to study the quiz & lab material well.
If you've ever taken a high school chemistry course, you've already learned all the material you will cover in her course. She is very clear in information and her slides are extremely self-explanatory. She also gives lots of extra credit and has her grading scale adjusted to an 88 being an A; you really need to do the bare minimum to do well.
This is an ideal choice for the lab credit at Miami. Not only is this class easy in itself, but it is 100% online, allowing lots of flexibility in the course. Prof. Page is easily accessible if you need her and is really understanding. This lab paired with the CHM111 course is ideal as the two follow each other in content and are both easy.
Professor Page is one the most caring professors at Miami. I hated CHM144 and thought that I would have the same experience in CHM145, but I was wrong. I would highly recommend taking CHM lab with her!
This class is easy, but you have to do every assignment by the due date or you will struggle. She will not make exceptions for lateness, even in the middle of a pandemic and the craziest year in history. The class work was easy through online and we didn't need the textbook even though it says we do. I just wish she was a bit more caring.
Professor Page is a great choice. The course is not too hard for a college chem course. If you fairly understood high school chem, you will be fine. She is always helps and is very pleasant. You have multiple chances in assignments and not a lot of homework. I recommend doing the weekly assignment during office hours. All exams this year open note
Made the material understanding and is an excellent professor. Fully remote and one of the very view classes I actually learned something in.
Also had her for chem lab. They went off of each other and were easy to figure out. All lectures were posted online and sometimes there was additional resources. 2 small assignments per week for CHM 111 A and all tests were open note.
Why am I here to leave a negative review since this course was so easy? I simply don't think she has the credentials to teach at a college level, although she is indeed a nice person. Her materials covered less than what I learned in high school.
I also had her for CHM111 lab. They were both fully remote and asynchronous. She posted the lecture and additional resources and most, if not all, tests were open note. Material was pretty easy to understand
Easy A. Most of the content is similar to any high school chemistry class. You don't need a textbook, her PPTs are sufficient to get an A. She does give optional reading materials which are interesting sometimes. Three major exams and a final exam: all of them were open-note.
Don't call yourself a professor if you don't have the credentials. That title actually means something.
She has no idea what's going on with the materials most of the time. She might be a good AP chemistry teacher, but definitely not suitable for teaching organic chemistry. I bet if it were not for her husband (also working in the department), there's no way she could be qualified to teach at miami at all.
What a joke... I felt I learned nothing, NOTHING.
This class is a truly easy A class. Two assignment due each week that only takes about 30 minutes to complete. Solid choice for the Miami Plan. I don't get it why people are complaining about how easy it is. It's a "Miami Plan", a business major wouldn't need to use chem in his/her life. Take her.
Chem lab really helped me better understand the content we were learning in lecture. I like the way she structured her labs and felt like she explained the concepts we were learning really well in the videos she made.
Super easy class. You have class twice a week for only about an hour. You take two quizzes each week in class and they are open notes and are so easy. All exams are open notes. Don't buy the textbook, you don't use it!!!
I took this for my Miami Plan but ended out enjoying the class! SUPER easy A, if you failed you have to be super lazy. Two assignments a week, exams are 90% of the notes, lectures are clear! In all honesty, I strongly disliked having to take chemistry at the start of this semester, but ended out really enjoying this class!
She told us to buy the textbook but only ended up using one third of it. very disorganized.
The content of this course was not any harder than a high school Chemistry class. There is an assignment done in class each week where you can work with people which allows you to get easy points. We had 3 exams and a final which were all open note.
This lab was not super hard in my opinion. There were two assignments a week that were posted on the Saturday before so you have the ability to finish all of the work for the week if you want. Professor Page hosted review sessions for the 2 exams we had. We did not have a final and the 2 exams we had were open note. She also offered extra credit.
Page makes the content you learn in lecture a lot easier to understand after lab. I personally felt like she was good at explaining the content in a much more simple way. The labs are tedious, but that comes with the class. Overall, her exams were fair and were not too hard as long as you studied enough.
Professor Page was the sole reason I understood anything in the lecture part. While the labs are tedious, she makes things really clear. Don't be afraid to ask any questions, as she will sit there with you and help you until you understand. She offers extra credit as well, and will help on lab reports if you ask.
Professor Page is super nice. Nothing about this class is hard. You don't need the textbook, she never tells you to bring it. As long as you look over the powerpoints you will pass. Everything is open note. Going to class isn't mandatory but sometimes she does random extra credit for those that show up.
Pretty easy 1 credit hour course for Miami Plan. Will take some thought when completing weekly lab reports and exams, but everything is open note. Also gives good extra credit opportunities for both exams (no final). Definitely recommend taking this.
This is an easy class to fill the Miami Plan lab credit. All online labs, 2 assignments per week that together take about an hour. All exams are open note and there is lots of extra credit.
This class was easy. It was two quizzes a week. The pre-lab you could take two times. Both the pre-lab and lab quiz is open note, have unlimited time, and are fairly easy. This is a 1 credit online class and it definitely shows. Jill Page is very nice and answers emails quickly. If you ask her for clarification, she'll send back a detailed email.
I have never taken a course where the bare minimum work required to get a passing grade was double the credit hours per week. I easily spent well over 8 hours per week working on lab reports for this class. Lab reports are tiring, but after a while, you get used to them. Although, for finals week I have 3 long reports and the final exam :)
Professor Page is a really nice instructor. CHM111L is probably the easiest class I have taken at Miami and a great option for your lab requirement. Did this class during J-term spent maybe 2-3 hrs max a week. I did take CHM111 the lecture course but I would recommend taking CHM111 before taking the lab class as it makes it really easy.
This course required more than double the credit hours per week should have required. We easily had 3 labs at a time and constant assignments that made it difficult to keep up with the material. The directions were unclear and when asked the professor couldn't answer my question. I would not recommend this course.
Chem lab goes about how you'd expect. Lab is easy and u work in groups, reports are difficult. Pre lab quizzes are harder than you'd expect and u have to write procedures beforehand. Final was stupid, but curved it over 25%, average before that was a 61%. Can do well on it if u actually study old reports. Page seemed nice didn't see her much though
Professor Page was an amazing professor who teaches in a way that is easy to understand. She answered every question any student had, had lots of office hours available, and gave plenty of opportunities to get help. The exams are all multiple choice and she gives study guides and lots of resources to study for each exam. Homework is also helpful.
Great chemistry professor. Very straightforward and has a lot of helpful resources that will help you succeed in the course. I'd recommend her to anyone taking gen chem.
Professor Page was one of the best professors I have had. She was extremely helpful when I had questions about the material and she wanted all of her students to succeed. I would 100% recommend her to any student. Go to office hours
Professor Page really wants you to do well in this class and gives you lots of resources to study with. Going to lectures is highly recommended but she does not take attendance. Her exams were reflective of what we did in class - especially the problems she puts on the slides. Difficult class but she is a great professor.
I loved professor Page. She was easy to learn from and offered tons of helpful study materials. She really sets up her students for success. Attendance isn't mandatory and missing a lecture or two won't be impossible to come back from.
Professor Page was an amazing professor. She explained the content and example problems very clearly. Homework was given through an online application. The homework was sometimes confusing as it didn't align with the lectures 100% but it was doable and you were given multiple attempts on the questions. She provided study guides for exams.
Online lab credit which was very easy. Two assignments a week, if you read the assignments and turn in everything on time you will get a good grade
Really easy lab credit and the professor is very nice. There are only two assignments a week and they are really easy if you read the labs. Answers are usually online or easy to solve.
Professor Page is a really nice and caring professor who really wants her students to do well. She is very nice and her exams are fair. She's a great lecturer, and will always try to explain a concept a different way if you don't understand it the first time. One of my favorites.
Professor Paige is a great professor and really wants everyone to succeed. Outside of her office hours, she also does her own review zoom session from home before each exam where she goes over practice problems. There isn't too much homework as long as you space it out and the exams are pretty easy as long as you do the review. She is so nice!
I would 110% take Professor Page again! Her lectures were very straightforward, and she genuinely cares about all of her students & wants them all to succeed. Homework aligns well with the material covered in lecture, and the exams are very fair; Professor Page also holds review sessions prior to each exam that can be extremely beneficial!
I had Jill Page for CHML 111 and she made the class alright. The class was not too difficult except for the math on a few labs. The directions on these labs were kind of unclear which made it difficult but other than that it was a very easy class and would highly recommend for non science/stem majors looking to get their lab credit.
Prof Page is easily my favorite professor. Everyone says to be scared of Gen Chem but Page makes it super doable. Her classes have higher overall exam scores. She explains things very clearly, makes it known what will be on the exams, and is always willing to help outside of class. If your taking Gen Chem, take her.
absolutely loved dr. page! she was super kind and so funny during lectures and actually taught the material. there's homework for every lecture but if you just stay on top of it, it really isn't that bad and most of the time actually helps you learn the material. exams are super fair, would recommend saving her in-class exam reviews for the final.
Page had the best grades for 141 exams and it is because she teaches you exactly what you need to know and explains it very well without overcomplicating things.
She's very open and easy to talk to. I went to Dr. Danielson's office hours more just for time reasons, but when I asked her questions in class, she was very straightforward, patient, and helpful.
I preferred her to Dr. Danielson. She's kind and explains things clearly, always willing to answer any questions. The exams in this course are difficult so do your best to earn as many points as you can on the lab reports. It is time intensive, but not necessarily hard.
great professor, explained things out instead of just reading slides, often handed out extra practice worksheets and provided a lot of review material for exams
Good professor and explained content well in class. She's very kind, resourceful, and gives plenty of practice material from lectures and exam preparation. I recommend taking Professor Page for chem!
Page is a great CHM141 professor. This class is not easy if you do not understand chem but she does not make it overly difficult and gives you lots of material to prepare for the exam.
100% take her for your lab credit. super easy literally just 2 canvas quizzes a week it would be hard not to get an a. also sends reminders a couple hours before they're due so its hard to forget about them. also super accessible outside of class. definitely recommend this class.
This course was asynchronous, and I'm so happy I took it! Assignments were easy, and open note. I am not a chem major, and was terrible at chem in high school, but this chem was pretty easy and I recommend this class to everyone!
Page is a great gen chem teacher! The material is hard, but she explains it well and will help anyone outside of class who needs it. She also gives out extra resourses and practice worksheets for the exams.
Explains content very well! She gives a lot of resources to help you be successful for exams. Highly recommend taking with her.
She's really sweet and explains things well. There are lots of stuff on canvas for u to do well—so use them!! I did okay on the tests + the final was easy. This class was a little more work for me than others because I had not done chemistry since sophomore year of highschool so if you took it more recently, you will be fine.
