she is a great teacher with interesting topics. There is alot of group work and alot of writing but it is deffinately worth it. She makes the class fun to sit through.

Quigley is perhaps the best teacher on the English department at DeAnza College. She has a passion for teaching and getting to know her students. She has helped me reach my maximum potential with critical thinking and has motivated me tremendously.

She is so nice and very pretty. A very challenging class -- 6 novels in 6 weeks + essays + projects + quote analyses. But she is a REALLY good teacher. Her class was painstaking, but it was worth it.

Great Teacher, gave me some of the first A's I ever got on an essay which motivated me to try harder with writing. She's also pretty good looking. Let me dose in class as she understood I was working 40 hours a week. Its to bad shes In England right now. She's also open minded and wont push agendas.

Enjoyed the class very much. She is very good at starting discussion, and by the end of the class everyone liked Hemingway. Six novels in 6 weeks is tough, but worth it. Pushes and encourages students to do well, gets results. Not an easy A.

She's intimidating at first glance but I have come to regard her with much respect. Ms. Quigley brings out the best in everyone by making you think outside the box. Her class is not only fun but creative. Just go to her for suggestions on the essays and participation is the key to get an "A".

Jill's a fantastic teacher who can make even Faulkner halfway near enjoyable. Discussions are engaging, the workload is somewhat hard but certainly worth it. Best class I've had yet at De Anza. She's a staunchly liberal feminist but open to debate--again, quite lively discussions. Wonderful woman.

Very very hot

She is one of the best english teachers I have ever had in my life. I look foward to her class everyday. She has a loving personality and we're always laughing and having fun in her class, and she goes along with you. She takes the time to help u on your work and essays whenever you need it and makes sure you really understand the material

She's very passionate about her work and about the literature we study. She knows the subject well and wants her students to succeed. She's one of the best teachers I've had. However, she seems to force her personal political opinions and agenda a little too much in the classroom. Not all assignments and test questions are related to the material.

She requires you to annotate majority of the material to the full extent. Other then that she is a great teacher who makes you expand your mind. Beware she does assign a lot of reading that can be hard to keep up with if your a slow pace reader.

She is only the second teacher in my long career at DA who I have intentionally attempted to take for a second time. I would pretty much take any class she taught, because I learnt a lot and had a lot of fun. - Perhaps best is she let us disagree with her - and she seemed to like it. It's awful that she isn't teaching full unit classes this term

Her classes are great!!!! Lots of information, but also a lot of class discussions. Be prepared to work if you take her class, but you'll have fun and laugh a lot!!!!

I loved this class. The discussions are very helpful. Prepare to be randomly called on in class, but this isn't a bad thing since Jill is interested in what her students have to say. She makes herself available outside of class and the reading selections are thought provoking and interesting. I recommend this class whether you like english or not.

By far the best teacher I've ever had. She has an amazing policy in which you never have to turn in a written assignment unless you have received your previous written work. This really helps because you are then able to see the mistakes you've made on your previous assignment and are able to improve for the next one. Passionate. Understanding.

Strongly recommend everyone to take her class. Although she requires more reading as compare to the other lecturers, her class will makes you enjoy reading and you won't want to skip class because she is so sweet. The BEST Teacher PERIOD. Actually cares about her students and gives you multiple ways to contact her when you need help. She is a wonderful teacher and will make sure you understand what she teaches! She is a total mom when it comes to lectures(don't miss the third week haha) but a total GOAT (greatest of all time) for everything else! +GORGEOUS!

Very sweet teacher. She goes out of her way to make sure you are doing well. One time I was sick and had to leave early, so she texted me information and made sure I was okay. Class pacing is a bit slow and easy. The reading pace is decently paced, but the discussions are very easy to follow. If you pay attention the class should be a breeze.

Best instructor I ever had in my entire education life. She is very good and clear about new learning idea. Great lectures with lots of fun and group activities. Pretty easy grader. Most important is this, she understands student's situation from student's perspective. I learn lots of new writing technics from her. Very very very helpful.

One of the most caring, lovely professors Ive had here. Engaging, stimulating, open-forum discussions. Was receptive, welcoming of what students had to say. Even when someone had an awful take, she was very diplomatic (almost to a fault). Loved several stories from the readings and opened my eyes to the merits from ones less immediately enjoyable.

Took her Winter '19. Really caring, understanding, & willing to listen to what you have to say so it's easy to participate in her class. There are a few books to read in EWRT 1B & a few essays as well, but nothing impossible. The books aren't too long either so they're not difficult to read. Exams are in the form of essays and homework is doable.

She's amazing! I look forward to her classes. She's a brilliant person and cares for all her students, making sure to know everyone's names. She listens to everyone's opinions, and while she may not always agree, she always accepts their thoughts with an open mind. She makes classes fun and engaging. Excited to take her again next quarter!

Very informative and you learn a lot about context and theory of poetry. There is a moderate amount of reading goes into this class, but very manageable. I highly recommend you take her! (class met once a wk on zoom)

Jill was so amazing & very kind. The class got to know each other on a deeper level during our weekly zoom (so hard online)! Loved and invested in the community more than the material lol but the content was cool as well. Jill is very considerate of her students and adjusts homework/format of tests accordingly. Prof. Quigley is so amazing!! The class really connected with each other and made a comfortable space. Always looked forward to zooms every week. You'll learn so much in class and the canvas is very organized with fun material. Super chill and fun. Wants you to pass. Journal every week. 1 midterm, 1 final, 1 final presentation.

Jill is the best professor I have ever had during my academic journey. She's kindhearted and genuinely wants you to do well in her class. I wish more professors were like her! She made learning fun and was always willing to help her students. I wish I could take her class again!!

AWESOME TEACHER!!! She really cares about her students and goes above and beyond to help. She gives tons of feedback on essays and really remembers each student's work. There are three books read in her class and not all of them were my favorite but she really helps you understand their meaning and relevance to the bigger picture.

Awesome professor, steady pace, clear grading, you will get very good feedback from her, she is very caring and kind to every student and takes time to read and give feedback to everyone.

JUST THE BEST!! Class with her was very engaging and fun. She is super dedicated to teaching and she is very passionate about literature. She was kind enough to push essay deadlines and even gave minutes-long audio feedback for our essay! Although the books were hard, put in effort and you will excel in this class.

But don't take advantage of her kindness; that would be unethical, and she certainly has awareness. Take her, learn and appreciate her; she is lovely.

I took her for a hand full of classes. She genuinely cares about the students and their performance both in and out of the classroom. Don't take advantage of her niceness, she will not give you a passing grade without earning it. She is heavy in the reading so don't fall behind. She will be able to tell you googled the information and did not read.

Miss Jill is very kind and caring. She gets to know each student so she can help everyone in the way they need it. She's patient and works with all kinds of students as long as they put in the effort. There is a decent amount of reading in this course, so stay on it. Participation is key! Either online or in person, she loves either.

Best professor I have ever had, I wish I could take every class with her. She cares deeply about her students' success. You read a lot but she makes it enjoyable? You also write a lot, but again, she makes it fun. She made me believe in myself as a writer. I promise if you don't like English after taking her class you will.

Very amazing prof!! She's super caring and understanding. There are like four or so essays you have to write but she consistently gives great feedback and is willing to help all the time. Also responds to emails super quick!

miss jill is the nicest professor i've ever had! i even took two classes with her. she's so patient and helpful. she went above and beyond to prevent me from failing her class. the material of this class is also very interesting and engaging, even for someone who is not super interested in literature. 10/10 would recommend!
