This lady is amazing. Her questions make you apply what you've learned (especially basic concepts) but none of that tricky petty stuff. Super helpful, super straight-forward. She's stern when she needs to be but that way she approaches the subject makes you not want to let her down. ONE OF THE BEST! She's a gem at MCC. We're lucky to have her.

Everything from notes is fair game for tests, and not too much more at all. Very straight-forward and extremely fair. Awsome at giving notes (but writes faster than lightening so bring a laptop). 4 tests, 1 open notes, cumulative final. 4 essays. I left this class knowing a ton, mostly bc she has a great way of simplifying things!

professor raymond is one of the best teachers ive ever had. the class itself is very hard, but she tries her hardest to make things easy for us. she understands her students and is a fun and helpful teacher. i honestly dont think i would have passed this class if i didnt have her as my teacher.

Dr. Raymond is by far the best instructor I've had at MCC. Her "true stories" are hilarious! All her tests came straight from her lecture notes. The one thing she could work on, is when a student asks a question, sometimes she'll say "hold on to that thought, and we'll revisit it in the chapter." well that never came....

Dr. Raymond was great. Everything on the test came straight from the notes. You will not pass this class without studying the notes as she goes super fast in class. Gives very helpful analogies and lots of stories to help you remember the most important stuff. By far the best teacher I've had in the BIO dept.

The written notes and Lab study guides are the key. Super helpful but don't be a tool and try to cheat like we had in this summer sections. She was very patient.

Don't be a doofus, pay attention in class, and you'll do fine. She does go on tangents when she lectures, but it's part of her method of helping you remember stuff. So humor her, and chuckle at her jokes, even when they're not knee slappers. Overall fun teacher with personality.

Forget powerpoints from prior lifetime-get real knowledge from the world class professor!Dr.Raymond gives you all you need to be successful, just go to class, pay Attention 100% and do the work. She does write on the board and she does explain things, so interaction and questions are mandatory. You will love micro by the end of class.

Absolutely love Dr. Raymond! Not only can she present the information in the most basic way possible but she is hilarious while doing so. I took her almost 2 semesters ago and her stories still help with remembering things. I would definately take the class again just for the funny (but helpful and educational) stories!

Every other comment on here has been true, I would like to stress however that she has a very "strong" personality. I found it to be enjoyable at first but began to wear on my nerves towards the end of the semester. If you want someone straight to the point and not over the top I would avoid.

Dr. raymound trulely is a wonderful teacher she is passionate about her work and it shows. She is very helpful willing to answer all your question no matter how many. Honestly, Jill Raymond is my favorite teacher I have ever had to date. She doesn't require the book, because she does all her notes on the board. I had Dr. Raymond for three classes. I loved her! She was not only a great teacher and new her subjects but she also was hilarious. She had very interesting stories that went along with the lesson. I learned more in Dr. Raymond's Micro class than any class I have ever taken. Yes, Microbiology is a difficult subject. But you can earn an A with work. As mentioned, all notes are copied off the board. These notes have been invaluable to me in nursing school and I refer to them often. Dr. Raymond is my all time favorite!

the professor is great, but i had a high B and she wouldnt curve it up to an A. She gives no extra credit whatsoever and her exams are hard. i took her hybrid course, and it was tough but doable. you have to stay on top of the assignment and read to book to pass this course.

I had to take this online but absolutely did not want to. I am so lucky to have gotten Jill as an instructor. She clearly wants you to succeed. There is a decent amount of work but it is not difficult and most of the time you get to pick what you want to study. Don't buy the book.

This class has some info that overlaps from anatomy and she explains it so well. If you are unsure about nursing take her class, she gives practical approaches. She writes all notes on board and only tests from those notes. Tests are multi-choice, not worded to trick, and short answer Q's given before test. I wish she taught anatomy. Lab was easy!

"Core Content", these are additional packets given to you that are included on the lecture exams that you need to study on your own. Concepts from BIO160.

Tests are NOT tough. She literally gives you absolutely everything you need. It's up to you if you want to put in the work to learn it. Absolutely NO surprises. Tests are lecture info saturated. Literally. She won't miss a thing on a test and it really is up to you to take the time to learn it or not. Your choice. But she's a great teacher.

I have been to MCC and CGCC and hands down, she is one of the BEST instructors I think I've ever had. She TEACHES YOU! Its amazing. She is passionate. As long as you show up to class and write down notes and study them there is literally no reason why anyone should not pass this class. You have to try and you might find yourself actually love it.

She is funny and super smart and will make you love microbiology! We need more professors like her. Raymond's teaching style matches up perfectly with my learning style. Not only is she so entertaining in lecture, she is the perfect balance of harsh and helpful. To be as blunt as possible Professor Raymond was an exceptional teacher. Her lab practicals and test all had study guides. You definitely need to work for your grade. Her jokes in class made me dislike her a bit more. She definitely seemed to stretch some of her stories. Overall she was a good teacher, her lectures were to the point.

Dr. Raymond is amazing! I took the summer course online so it was very fast paced. She is very encouraging and very responsive to emails and questions. You must read and understand all of the material that are given in order to pass. She has study guides that help you stay focused and a schedule to help keep you on track.

Excellent instructor. Responds quickly to emails. Explains material thoroughly. Has a good sense of humor. Can come off as very cold and not care but she does care. She will write on board and that is your text book. Write everything she rights and complete study guides. Spend 2 hours each day studying for this class. Down side is no extra credit.

Record the lectures and write down everything she writes on the board. As long as you study those notes like crazy, you won't have to worry about looking over the study guides. Exams are multiple choice a few short answers. Labs are fun- study hard for the practicals. No extra credit, but if you put in the effort, you'll easily get an A )

Loved this course ! Professor Raymond provides a course schedule that is AMAZING. As long as its followed you should be good. reminders/messages are set up for assignments/labs/exams. She is very accessible and answers emails very quick. Labs + lab kit where easy. Videos are provided. And has plenty of resources to help succeed in the class.

Took this class online. Take notes when watching the lecture videos. DO THE REVIEW GUIDES, they definitely help when studying but remember to understand the material not just memorize. Labs are easy and she has videos to follow along with.

This review is for the HYBRID class, which I imagine is a lot different than all-online class. Don't take a micro class entirely online where you never use a real microscope. Anyway, Dr. Raymond is stellar and very reasonable. She's brilliant, funny, and gives great study guides which prepare you for tests. Hybrid is the way to go.

Raymond was a great teacher she does everything on the board, no boring PowerPoint but it is very lecture heavy (~5 pages a class front to back) only had a bad grade due to heavy workload from another class (had I applied myself I think I would've gotten an A). Lab is fun and she connects it to real world very well. Highly recommend :)

Not an easy or hard class. She was recommended to me by a BIO201 classmate, and ultimately I think she was great, given the class is online. Do the work and know the material she gives you and you will do fine.

The content is organized and concise. Exams are based off her study guides. Her audio lectures were extremely helpful and she has several "tiny teach" audio lectures that walk you through difficult content. She responds quickly if more help is needed. Took the online version of 205. All you really have to do is listen to an audio lecture or read the power point its based on about every week. You have to supply your own things for the first couple of labs, but its mainly just inexpensive things like bread & fruit. You will need a bit of space for the lab kit as you keep some cultures refrigerated

Dr Raymond was hands down the best instructor I have ever had at MCC, she makes her lectures very entertaining with real world analogies that actually make sense. and she actually cares if you are struggling, she will do anything to help you succeed, just put in the time and effort and you will get an A

Very organized & explained well. Highly recommend taking online. You will get out of this class what you put in. She has everything you need on Canvas. She is always available to help. Gives you chances to boost your grade. Study guides prepare you for the tests. I would recommend her to everyone.

Prof Raymond was AMAZING this semester. Really enjoyed her class. It's content heavy and the exams can be tough but if you pay attention during lecture, take good notes and utilize her study guides/quizlets to review you'll be fine! I'd take any class she taught !

I took Professor Raymond's BIO205 class over the spring semester, it is a lab/ lecture and exam-heavy class, of course, but her lectures make it so much more interesting and easier to digest. She provides all the resources, quizlets, study guides you need to get a good grade, you just need to put time to study it. + She always offers 1-1 help

I loved Dr. Raymond's course! The material is interesting and presented in multiple formats to help you learn. There are some tough concepts and some memorization needed, but totally manageable even for those with a busy schedule. There are many labs, but they are relatively quick to complete. Microbes rule!

Raymond was awesome all around. She had interesting lectures, fun and easy-to-follow labs, and everything you need to succeed on the tests she provides for you. Your grade is based mostly on your tests, use the quizlets and study guides you will be fine. She was very tech-savvy as well. If you need a microbiology credit take her.

Professor Raymond is fantastic! Took this over summer so it was a lot of information in a short period of time but she makes it not feel overwhelming. She provides a calendar to make it easy to stay on track with the labs at home and provides great study guides for each exam as well as study material for the lab practical. 10000% recommend her!

She is an amazing teacher! I took her online course, and it would be hard to fail her class! She lets you resubmit any and every assignment you've done after it's been graded for full credit. That means every assignment can and should be 100%, she tells you which ones you've gotten wrong. The labs are SO fun, I loved this gem of a teacher!

Professor Raymond is an amazing teacher. She writes notes in the board for you to follow along with. She's very funny and she presents the material in a more engaging way. Everything on the tests or exams is exactly what she takes about in class. If you need a BIO 205 class definitely take her!

Professor Raymond is amazing at teaching BIO205! She gives TONS of opportunities for extra points. She also gives you a study guide that clearly aligns with the exams. Just use what's on the study guides and pay attention in lab and you can get an A. 10/10 Professor and class for sure!

She is AMAZING. Lecture heavy BUT she gives u EXACTLY what u need to know for exams. Her practice practicals are IDENTICAL to the real practicals. Best professor I've ever had. She gives feedback and the homework is very light and revolves around what ur learning. There is no EC but if you study you'll be fine. Genuinely adore her. She's hilarious.

Dr. Raymond is very clear in her lectures and gives you a study guide for each section outlining what she wants you to focus on and even makes one for the lab practical. As long as you make study guides based off hers and study that along with the "learning checks" in the PowerPoints you are set to go. She wants her students to succeed.

Super easy class if you study. Incredibly sweet professor, the syllabus has a portion about late work not being accepted but she is extremely forgiving. Gives good feedback super quick. All the tests have exactly what the study guides have, there are no surprises. The lab kit is a bit expensive but it is a give and take since it is an online lab.

By far the best science course I've taken.Dr.Raymond gives you opportunities to resubmit missed assignments and she makes lectures fun/interesting.Complete the study guides while watching the lecture videos and study,study,study! If you do these two things, you will pass this class with an A.Labs are straight forward, quick, and fun. MICROBES RULE!

Professor Raymond is an absolute gem to society and should be protected at all costs. She cares so much for every student. She always helps when asked. She is hilarious and very real and very down to earth. The class itself is somewhat difficult and needs a lot of studying, but she makes it so much easier to digest.

Dr Raymond loves the subject she teaches and is very enthusiastic. Her classes were fun and I feel I learned SO much from her. There is absolutely no guess work in what you should be studying. Shes gives you a study guide for all exams. I would take her class again in a heart beat.

Professor Raymond makes it clear from day one that no one fails her course and she was absolutely right. The course requires a $200 lab kit. Her Canvas and module setup is extremely organized and clear. The tests are mostly multiple choice. I highly recommend this class if you're looking for an online Microbiology course!

Dr. Raymond is who you want as a microbiology professor. She is caring, attentive, and provides great feedback. Microbiology is tough by nature but her class is so well organized you will exceed as long as you try. I saved this class for last because I was so worried about getting a bad grade but she made this class amazing. Highly recommend.

Raymond is the best!! Microbiology is not an easy class! Yet she makes it easy to understand since she gives tiny teaches to better understand a topic that might be difficult! Dr.Raymond was the best professor I've ever had. This was my last class before Nursing class. I am not the best test taker espically in hard science classes but I finished with a B and I don't think I could have done that without Dr.Raymond! Her lectures are interactive rather than like some professors who just read off of a powerpoint.
