Jill is very knowledgeable and gives great examples of the concepts she lectures on. The class is a lecture class, so if you don't like lectures i wouldn't suggest her class. But she does make it fun and interesting - plus some movies!

Pretty clear on expectations. Tests aren't too hard, you just have to copy her lecture notes and scan the book. Sure she could lighten up a bit, but I liked her and didn't find the class too difficult.

Very insightful and helpful not your typical professor. tests are a no brainer and get to see some good documentaries

If you hate lectures, don't take this class. However, her lectures are really easy to follow - very visual w/powerpoints, theme songs, and movies. It's a pretty easy class.

This is an awesome class and Jill Stein is a killer prof. She knows her sutff really well and the class is simple. All you do is take notes of powerpoint write one essay and have 3 midterms. I would recommand this class to anyone who is interested in soc and Stein is very hot.

this class is good because it fulfills requirements and its pretty simple. oK she talks a lot but what prof doesn't? The tests are easy and you get to drop 2, not much reading, talks a little too much about herself but she's nice and it can be interesting

She's career barbie, if that works for you, take this class. Otherwise I'd say find somemthing more mentally stimulating.

She is totally the best teacher. All the other posts are bull. I have never had a better teacher! I loved every part to that class. I only wish I could take it again. If you are somewhat normaly and just a little patient and open-minded, Stein will rock your world!!!

Dr. Stein is a very helpful professor. Her teaching methods are very clear and her lectures are fun to listen to. I recommend this class to anyone who is interested in this subject area. She talks a lot about herself because she relates her behavior to the topic.

Fun class. Lectures outside on nice days and relatively easy course material. She's some kind of administrator for the Surfrider Foundation's Santa Barbara chapter also-how chill is that?!

She is a great lady. You can tell she cares about what she does. The class is really easy as long as you do the reading. She is a feminist and is big on envirnmental issues. I would recommend her to any one.

Very smart and helpful. She is also an apparently easy grader, I thought I was headed for a C, but ended up with an A at the end. Very insightful material, and she is very good at teaching it.

Dr. Stein is a fabulous professor! I enjoyed going to class to listen to what she had to say and what new thing i would learn. she is a pretty easy grader and very smart. i would definitly recommend her!

Powerpoint slides. If you don't want to take notes, go to the library and photocopy them. Getting an A in this class means just doing the work, which isn't difficult. She's at first intimidating, but understanding and compassionate. Cuts thru all BS. A little anal about attendance. Take this class!!

Stein is great. Two midterms, a paper, and a final. The class is great. I highly urge you to take this. It's great for GE credit and Stein makes the class fun and easy going. Her powerpoint makes taking notes easy. He tests test your basic understanding and ask little else of you. Please take her if you are going to take Soc 101.

She is fun, but kinda serious when it comes to giving lectures. You don't really even have to read the book to do good in the test. AS LONG AS YOU PAY ATTENTION DURING CLASS LECTURES YOU WILL DO GOOD! Shes nice and fun.

Jill Stein is the best teacher i have ever had. She is super nice and each day after class would talk to me for about ten minutes even though it was evident that she had to be somewhere else. She is a liberal (yay) and honestly only wants to see her students succeed in her class . She just demands that people respect the field of sociology

Good teacher. The tests are based EXACTLY off the reading and lecture. On our most recent midterm, I did the reading when it was assigned (which was minor), and attended all lectures (no studying, I didn’t even pick up the study guide). I got a 98%. SShe does offer small extra credit. Also, she was a roadie for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. HA!

This is a VERY easy class, wish theree was a little more discussion about the issues and less lecture on terms and definitions. stein is awesome and really easy if you jusy take the notes, the tests are pretty much the notes in question form, no surprises. shes hip, funny, but lectures do get a little boring. if you do your work and pay attention, easy A. also shes really helpful if you go into her office and talk to her

Jill's methods are great! She teaches to a powerpoint and goes over the material again and again to make sure it sticks. She's available for questions and is always willing to work with you and be flexible. Great 101 class!

Jill is way chill. She's really good with letting you make up major exams too...make sure you have a GOOD excuse though, she's not dumb. Sociology is made easy with Jill Stein....take it!

Stein's soc 101 class consists of 2 midterms, a paper and a final. Attendence is required. The exams are all on the notes so if you take good notes you never have to read the text book. I recommend this class to anyone who needs fullfill GE requirements.

easy. interesting lectures and articles. engaging in-class excersizes. one research paper, two midterms, final exam. jil is extremely intelligent and stoic. she has hypersensitive hearing and doesnt take any in class disruptions. fair and approachable and even attractive despite her age. she is savy and in touch with her students psyches

She really knows what she is talking about. I came out of the class with knowledge on the subject. It's not just a class you can attend and pass so if you are just filling gen ed requirements then this might not be the class for you. My favorite teacher at SBCC!

I really liked Stein. Her class was very interesting and easy. It's basically common sense and I learned a lot from it. You should definitely do the reading, but other than that there's no homework. Tests are fairly easy, as long as you take notes and come to class regularly. I strongly recommend this teacher.

She's great! Uses a lot of small group activity, which is normally not my favorite, but she makes it interesting, and easy to meet new people.

This class wasn't what i thought it would be but it was kind of interesting. Professor Stein is a pretty good teacher. The only homework is reading which makes it easy and the tests are fairly easy as long as you study somewhat. i thought the only thing that sucked about this class was the 2 papers; other than that it was pretty cool.

She was awesome. She wrote the book which is written for our age group, so lectures line up perfectly with the material. She does NOT have a monotone voice, and easily captivated my class of 100+ The only homework is reading plus a couple essays. Not a heavy workload. I got 90% on most quizzes without doing the reading. Psych 100 is similar

This class is far to easy and she just does power points out of the book and expects you to watch movies and answer video worksheets on the movies which require no thinking. I would only take this class if you rarely watch the news, pick up a newspaper, or have no idea what is going on in the world around you. She is a very nice and helpful though

Lets just say that I would attend professor steins lectures even if I wasn't enrolled in her class! They are so interesting and she definitely knows how to relate to the students! All of her cell phone comments made me laugh! She wrote the text book and its something that you could read for fun. Definitely recommend this teacher!

dont really know how difficult she was because i only had her for two weeks. the class seemed alright and was kind of boring until stein left and neil dryden came in. take him instead, hes a big nerd but really funny and the class seems way more laid back its not that hard at all. if you have a choice between them, take dryden.

The material is interesting, but the teaching style is not. It's disappointing. DON'T BUY THE BOOK -- you never bring it to/use it in class, borrow from someone else when you need it and save yourself a few bucks. Plus, she gives you everything you need to know in her power-point slides.

Great class! She applies the subject to students everyday lives. The book is very easy to read and quite interesting. I had no interest in sociology before this class and not I love it! TAKE THIS CLASS!!!

three midterms, six quizes (can drop 1), two paper assignments, ten in-class exercies(can drop 1), seven video worksheets(can drop 1). she does not use textbook at all in class, but you must read the textbook to take tests. Midterms are little hard. if you read the textbook at least two times, it is easy A. she is the greatest teacher ever!!

I LOVE this teacher and i would take her again. She's funny, nice, and very engaging. She worte the textbook and really knows what she's talking about. It's not a hard class at all and it's very intersting. Highly recomended

She is a BOSS. I absolutely loved her class. It is a lecture class with a few videos, so if you have a hard time paying attention then you may have a hard time being successful in this class. But there's very little homework, and as long as you take good notes and review them then you'll pass the tests very easily. Plus she's just COOL :)

Great teacher! Made learning about it fun and exciting. Powerpoint everyday along with an occasional video. In class exercises are fun and you learn a lot about yourself. Not a lot of work outside of class.

FANTASTIC teacher. She lectures straight from the book so you really do not need to read at all. Her tests are really easy. And there is very few assignments. She is a great teacher, she is enthusiastic and really knowledgeable.

When you first see the book, youll be automatically hooked. Shes very up to date and tries to relate to you as much as possible so that you understand the material. The notes will always help you out a bunch, and the videos for the class are amazing. Ms Stein is funny and down to earth, it feels like there isn't a teacher-student barrier at all.

3 midterms and a final, few quizzes, video worksheets, two mini papers, dry lectures. I only took this course for credits so it was a pretty decent class to do well in. Textbook is not needed because Jill provides chapter outlines and quizzes online that really help!!

Jill is a great professor. Her textbook is great too. I found her class to be very enjoyable and I learned a lot from her and her book. She wrote the textbook so she expects you to read it. The majority of her tests come from her the readings in the text. She is very helpful and very nice. If you do all the work required then you'll get an A.

Great professor! She says at the beginning of the semester that you can get away with not using the textbook. One essay, multiple midterms, some in-class exercises, and quizzes. She drops the lowest quiz score and makes it easy for you to keep an eye on your grade throughout the semester. Ppts are very easy to follow. I definitely recommend!

Good professor. Very nice and covers the material well. Monotone voice so she can get boring at times. VERY easy class. Tests are common sense. I would recommend her, but there are better professors at this school. For SOC 101 take Nat Pyle. Much more enthusiastic and relates more to students. Overall though, Jill is a quality professor. Professor Stein is awesome, I would have a hard time trying to pick a more thorough and consistent teacher, she also has numerous resources available for you to learn and to memorize the material. If you fail this class or get a bad grade, you have no excuse. She teaches unbiased and passionately, and plays video's to keep our attention. awesome!

Stein is very passionate about what she teaches and you can tell I her lectures! Pretty easy class, there is some work but it's nothing impossible to do. 3 midterms & a final. Quizzes every here and there. 2 Papers, a ethnography and a blog assignment. Sounds like a lot? Trust me it's really not that bad. Just do the assignments and study!

Great teacher! She cares about her students individually and WANTS to help you succeed. Highly recommenced. The lectures are not boring. They are structured and have many fun videos to supplement the material.

I loved Professor Stein! She went to UCLA and is super bright and intelligent. All of her lectures were very interesting and her class was so nice to go to. She is probably one of the most caring teachers on campus. She has a very clear grading criteria and if you miss classes all the lecture powerpoints are provided online. She rocks.

Jill is one of the best professors I have ever had. Not only do you learn so much about Sociology but she is also very kind and compassionate. Professor Stein was a great teacher. Her lectures were interesting and engaging, she really cared about her subjects, and if you went to class and paid attention, you can do really well on all of the assignments and exams. She is really easy to work with and is always there to help.

Technically you don't have to go to class bc her power points are on canvas, but i felt that I learned better while going to class and listening. Textbook is not necessary. not much studying is required just a few read throughs of the notes and you should be fine. quizzes do add up so make sure you have an A-or B+ average. 1 super easy paper!

Super easy class - just make sure to do the quizzes each week & go to class for the in class activity points. One of my favorite professors. The class is set up so you can succeed and she offers many extra credit opportunities. The tests are moderately hard but if you study for them you should be fine. Super easy 10 point quizzes on canvas each week, 1 writing assignment, 2 midterms and a final. Never used my textbook and finished with an A- in the class.

she is very professional. im not the best at doing assignments but i currently have a 91 and its a reasonably easy class. def get the book cuz the info for the quizzes are on the chapter that the quiz is assigned for

She's such a sweet soul and very passionate about Sociology. All her quizes and tests (even the mf FINAL) are online. She's very flexible with the work and gives a lot of time for each quiz and exam. She clearly wants her students to pass the class, but she has some assignments in class to prove attendance of students.

The class is literally graded on the online test and quizzes, so study! Doesnt give homework but you should attend class regularly since she gives a lot of in-class work.

Professor Stein is one of the professors that has made her understanding and care towards her students evident while teaching her passion. There are many resources given to ensure the success of the student. The class is not difficult. Showing up to class, doing the readings, and the assignments are all necessary to at least get a decent grade.

Literally all her exams and quizzes are online. Same with the lectures. Go to class though because she gives little 10 point assignments almost every class. Super chill class though.

Love her class. Prof. Davis is more than flexible and wants to help you pass. She isnt too homework heavy, and her exams are straightforward and easy if you read the material. She really gets you thinking like a sociologist in a way that is fun.

My grade was slipping towards the end of the semester, and I met with her in her office and she was super accommodating!! She let me make up so much of my late work. She is super sweet and knowledgeable.

This class brought me a new perspective to the world around me. Some of the papers and field work were outside of my norm but proved to be very interesting and insightful. Definitely not going to be a SOC major, but I did enjoy this class.

Great professor. Uses her own book; reading required and almost all test answers are found in just the book so don't need lectures or slides. Lots of different assignments to cushion your grade if tests do not go well. Hw is due every two weeks. Research paper that she gives you lots of time to work on. Overall pretty good and insightful class.

Lectures cover a wide range of topics relating to media and sociology. Overall very interesting topics covered.

Professor Stein's course requires some self-accountability as assignments are due every two weeks. There is a decent amount of textbook reading that will best prepare you for quizzes and exams. Moderate amount of writing, but she doesn't place weight on it being professional writing, which takes some pressure off. Super nice and amazing professor!

Prof Stein's course was very engaging, yet not hard to pass at all. The topics and assignments were very straightforward, but her passion and lesson plans made me interested in a major/subject I had never considered before. Loved, loved her course, would love to take another from her in the future.

Very interesting class, gets you to think about media and society in a way you likely haven't before. Was a bit of homework but only ever due, every other week. She was an easy grader and assignments were mostly simple to complete. She was very kind the few times i needed to contact her.

Jill is a great professor! The canvas was really easy to follow and she sent lots of reminders/announcements. the work load was really light and we had 2 weeks to turn assignments in. I really recommend taking this class!

Jill's class has a fair workload, with assignments due every 2 weeks. The lectures and textbook provide the info needed to do well. Using Unstuck study alongside the course materials helped me stay on top of the content.
