Jill is very knowledgeable and gives great examples of the concepts she lectures on. The class is a lecture class, so if you don't like lectures i wouldn't suggest her class. But she does make it fun and interesting - plus some movies!

One of the worst teachers I have had. Stein loves the sound of her own voice, overfills classes and lectures concepts from the book never really bringing in information that you couldn't gather on your own.

Pretty clear on expectations. Tests aren't too hard, you just have to copy her lecture notes and scan the book. Sure she could lighten up a bit, but I liked her and didn't find the class too difficult.

Please make it stop! She talks a lot about herself, her values, her beliefs, her feelings, her quirks I know more about her than about social pyschology. I would learn more staying home and googling the subject.

If you hate lectures, don't take this class. However, her lectures are really easy to follow - very visual w/powerpoints, theme songs, and movies. It's a pretty easy class.

This is an awesome class and Jill Stein is a killer prof. She knows her sutff really well and the class is simple. All you do is take notes of powerpoint write one essay and have 3 midterms. I would recommand this class to anyone who is interested in soc and Stein is very hot.

She's annoying and seriously self involved, she teaches like she's an 18 year old stepping in for her teacher not like the 40-something that she is. Classes of hers are pointless if you have common sense, though I'm sure she'd make an excellent online instructor...

She is totally the best teacher. All the other posts are bull. I have never had a better teacher! I loved every part to that class. I only wish I could take it again. If you are somewhat normaly and just a little patient and open-minded, Stein will rock your world!!!

Dr. Stein is a very helpful professor. Her teaching methods are very clear and her lectures are fun to listen to. I recommend this class to anyone who is interested in this subject area. She talks a lot about herself because she relates her behavior to the topic.

Very smart and helpful. She is also an apparently easy grader, I thought I was headed for a C, but ended up with an A at the end. Very insightful material, and she is very good at teaching it.

Dr. Stein is a fabulous professor! I enjoyed going to class to listen to what she had to say and what new thing i would learn. she is a pretty easy grader and very smart. i would definitly recommend her!

Powerpoint slides. If you don't want to take notes, go to the library and photocopy them. Getting an A in this class means just doing the work, which isn't difficult. She's at first intimidating, but understanding and compassionate. Cuts thru all BS. A little anal about attendance. Take this class!!

Stein is great. Two midterms, a paper, and a final. The class is great. I highly urge you to take this. It's great for GE credit and Stein makes the class fun and easy going. Her powerpoint makes taking notes easy. He tests test your basic understanding and ask little else of you. Please take her if you are going to take Soc 101.

Interesting lecturer, notes are really easy. Tests are straightforward, but watch out for the paper-- she is a very negative grader. I had an A paper without one good comment on it. The woman has eyes in the back of her head, so no talking in class! She's passionate about sociology, and its a good class overall. Just show up and listen!

She is fun, but kinda serious when it comes to giving lectures. You don't really even have to read the book to do good in the test. AS LONG AS YOU PAY ATTENTION DURING CLASS LECTURES YOU WILL DO GOOD! Shes nice and fun.

Jill Stein is the best teacher i have ever had. She is super nice and each day after class would talk to me for about ten minutes even though it was evident that she had to be somewhere else. She is a liberal (yay) and honestly only wants to see her students succeed in her class . She just demands that people respect the field of sociology

Good teacher. The tests are based EXACTLY off the reading and lecture. On our most recent midterm, I did the reading when it was assigned (which was minor), and attended all lectures (no studying, I didn’t even pick up the study guide). I got a 98%. SShe does offer small extra credit. Also, she was a roadie for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. HA!

Jill's methods are great! She teaches to a powerpoint and goes over the material again and again to make sure it sticks. She's available for questions and is always willing to work with you and be flexible. Great 101 class!

interesting, but monotone. DO NOT FALL ASLEEP. she get's angry at that. one paper, but easy grader. 3 multiple choice tests with small essay portion. make sure you attend class for the lecture notes and the films and you'll do fine. use the text solely for the 'terms' and you'll do well. pretty highly recommended.

Stein's soc 101 class consists of 2 midterms, a paper and a final. Attendence is required. The exams are all on the notes so if you take good notes you never have to read the text book. I recommend this class to anyone who needs fullfill GE requirements.

easy. interesting lectures and articles. engaging in-class excersizes. one research paper, two midterms, final exam. jil is extremely intelligent and stoic. she has hypersensitive hearing and doesnt take any in class disruptions. fair and approachable and even attractive despite her age. she is savy and in touch with her students psyches

I really liked Stein. Her class was very interesting and easy. It's basically common sense and I learned a lot from it. You should definitely do the reading, but other than that there's no homework. Tests are fairly easy, as long as you take notes and come to class regularly. I strongly recommend this teacher.

She's a cool lady but not a good teacher. Her voice in monotone, lectures boring, and the class is kind of a joke. The tests are spacey. If you want a class to just bull**** it, go for it. If you want to learn ANYTHING then maybe check out something else.

This class wasn't what i thought it would be but it was kind of interesting. Professor Stein is a pretty good teacher. The only homework is reading which makes it easy and the tests are fairly easy as long as you study somewhat. i thought the only thing that sucked about this class was the 2 papers; other than that it was pretty cool.

She was awesome. She wrote the book which is written for our age group, so lectures line up perfectly with the material. She does NOT have a monotone voice, and easily captivated my class of 100+ The only homework is reading plus a couple essays. Not a heavy workload. I got 90% on most quizzes without doing the reading. Psych 100 is similar

This class is far to easy and she just does power points out of the book and expects you to watch movies and answer video worksheets on the movies which require no thinking. I would only take this class if you rarely watch the news, pick up a newspaper, or have no idea what is going on in the world around you. She is a very nice and helpful though

Lets just say that I would attend professor steins lectures even if I wasn't enrolled in her class! They are so interesting and she definitely knows how to relate to the students! All of her cell phone comments made me laugh! She wrote the text book and its something that you could read for fun. Definitely recommend this teacher!

dont really know how difficult she was because i only had her for two weeks. the class seemed alright and was kind of boring until stein left and neil dryden came in. take him instead, hes a big nerd but really funny and the class seems way more laid back its not that hard at all. if you have a choice between them, take dryden.

The material is interesting, but the teaching style is not. It's disappointing. DON'T BUY THE BOOK -- you never bring it to/use it in class, borrow from someone else when you need it and save yourself a few bucks. Plus, she gives you everything you need to know in her power-point slides.

I don't know if it is the subject or the teacher... maybe it is both, but I felt like this was the most useless waste of time. When I went to class I was constantly frustrated because the material was pointless and frustrating to learn about. She is very easy to irritate. It was a horrible and boring experience. Take a psychology class instead.

bad teacher. her lectures are SO boring. she speaks in a monotonous tone and reads directly from the slides... i found it hard to stay in class for her whole lecture. That being said the class is SO EASY. all common sense.. i missed close to 50% of the lectures, left early for the other ones and still pulled an A. take her - shes horrible yet easy

three midterms, six quizes (can drop 1), two paper assignments, ten in-class exercies(can drop 1), seven video worksheets(can drop 1). she does not use textbook at all in class, but you must read the textbook to take tests. Midterms are little hard. if you read the textbook at least two times, it is easy A. she is the greatest teacher ever!!

She is a BOSS. I absolutely loved her class. It is a lecture class with a few videos, so if you have a hard time paying attention then you may have a hard time being successful in this class. But there's very little homework, and as long as you take good notes and review them then you'll pass the tests very easily. Plus she's just COOL :)

When you first see the book, youll be automatically hooked. Shes very up to date and tries to relate to you as much as possible so that you understand the material. The notes will always help you out a bunch, and the videos for the class are amazing. Ms Stein is funny and down to earth, it feels like there isn't a teacher-student barrier at all.

Very dry lectures; death by powerpoint. Much of the material seems irrelevant. Professor Stein gets sidetracked easily, and had a hard time keeping on schedule, resulting in many missed assignments. The only material needed for the class is the online study guide, lectures were minimally informative. Easy A, though.

3 midterms and a final, few quizzes, video worksheets, two mini papers, dry lectures. I only took this course for credits so it was a pretty decent class to do well in. Textbook is not needed because Jill provides chapter outlines and quizzes online that really help!!

She is a really nice lady and the videos are cool but other than that the class is SO BORING! I found it very hard to keep my eyes open during the dull lectures and tutoring wasnt much help either. Your best bet is just sticking with the book and memorizing terms. I hear her 118 class is better though.

Jill is a great professor. Her textbook is great too. I found her class to be very enjoyable and I learned a lot from her and her book. She wrote the textbook so she expects you to read it. The majority of her tests come from her the readings in the text. She is very helpful and very nice. If you do all the work required then you'll get an A.

Extremely kind and understanding professor. She really tries to connect to her students and it shows. Textbook is interesting (she co-wrote it). Lots of Extra Credit opportunities. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you'll lose points from being absent cause she does lots of in class exercises. Def take this class! Prof Stein rocks!

Great professor! She says at the beginning of the semester that you can get away with not using the textbook. One essay, multiple midterms, some in-class exercises, and quizzes. She drops the lowest quiz score and makes it easy for you to keep an eye on your grade throughout the semester. Ppts are very easy to follow. I definitely recommend!

Her tests are super easy and she doesn't take attendance but I recommend going to class because she shows videos and asks questions about them on exams. I liked her so much that I'm taking her for Soc 101 next semester. Highly recommend.

Good professor. Very nice and covers the material well. Monotone voice so she can get boring at times. VERY easy class. Tests are common sense. I would recommend her, but there are better professors at this school. For SOC 101 take Nat Pyle. Much more enthusiastic and relates more to students. Overall though, Jill is a quality professor. Nice lady

Very interesting class. Not very difficult, she tells you what will be on the tests so read the chapters and study your notes! I attended class everyday, studied my notes a day before the tests and i always managed to do good, I passed with an A (: TAKE THIS CLASS! SHES GREAT

Jill Stein is amazing. I've taken two classes with her and wish I could take more. She's so passionate about her teaching and wants her students to succeed. She is easy to approach, sweet, and very flexible. Not to mention she is one of the smartest professors I've ever had. Take her classes!

Professor Stein is awesome, I would have a hard time trying to pick a more thorough and consistent teacher, she also has numerous resources available for you to learn and to memorize the material. If you fail this class or get a bad grade, you have no excuse. She teaches unbiased and passionately, and plays video's to keep our attention. awesome!

She's very nice and very easy, if you're looking for an easy A then I guess you're taking the right professor. But if you want to take a class that's actually interesting and engaging and intellectually stimulating, take Neil Dryden. He's awesome. Best teacher at SBCC, easy.

Jill Stein is a great teacher. Her midterms are very straightforward and her class is really easy. Although her lectures are kind of dull, I rarely go to class and as long as you skim through the chapters in the book, it's an easy A.

Professor Stein is brilliant in her field and that really comes across in her class. She takes it very seriously, but makes it very interesting. All of her lectures include a video or an activity that relate to the subject. I always look forward to her class.

Jill is a cool chick. I mean she used to date the drummer for Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers, need I say more? Show up, enjoy the class, she's easy on the eyes and you will enjoy. Papers and final are easy, she's easy going, wear your flip flops! Good lectures.

Stein is very passionate about what she teaches and you can tell I her lectures! Pretty easy class, there is some work but it's nothing impossible to do. 3 midterms & a final. Quizzes every here and there. 2 Papers, a ethnography and a blog assignment. Sounds like a lot? Trust me it's really not that bad. Just do the assignments and study!

I loved Professor Stein! She went to UCLA and is super bright and intelligent. All of her lectures were very interesting and her class was so nice to go to. She is probably one of the most caring teachers on campus. She has a very clear grading criteria and if you miss classes all the lecture powerpoints are provided online. She rocks.

Jill is one of the best professors I have ever had. Not only do you learn so much about Sociology but she is also very kind and compassionate. If ypu do all your work and try your best in her class you will be successful. Also communication is great she genuinely cares about her students. I highly recommend her!

Jill is really nice and I like her lectures. She has a cool background in history and wrote the textbook used in class. Her tests are HARD. i've only gotten 70-80% on them. You really have to study the book, and take good notes. She goes over a lot in class that is on the tests. She also gives out extra credit.

Professor Stein was a great teacher. Her lectures were interesting and engaging, she really cared about her subjects, and if you went to class and paid attention, you can do really well on all of the assignments and exams. She is really easy to work with and is always there to help.

Technically you don't have to go to class bc her power points are on canvas, but i felt that I learned better while going to class and listening. Textbook is not necessary. not much studying is required just a few read throughs of the notes and you should be fine. quizzes do add up so make sure you have an A-or B+ average. 1 super easy paper!

One of my favorite professors. The class is set up so you can succeed and she offers many extra credit opportunities. The tests are moderately hard but if you study for them you should be fine. Super easy 10 point quizzes on canvas each week, 1 writing assignment, 2 midterms and a final. Never used my textbook and finished with an A- in the class.

So disorganized! She didnt even upload any information to Canvas until the third day of the semester, doesnt follow the assignment list on her own syllabus or give notice when shes going to change something, takes weeks to grade, and gives almost no notice about exams, including the final! Definitely not how an intro class should be structured.

She's such a sweet soul and very passionate about Sociology. All her quizes and tests (even the mf FINAL) are online. She's very flexible with the work and gives a lot of time for each quiz and exam. She clearly wants her students to pass the class, but she has some assignments in class to prove attendance of students.

Professor Stein is one of the professors that has made her understanding and care towards her students evident while teaching her passion. There are many resources given to ensure the success of the student. The class is not difficult. Showing up to class, doing the readings, and the assignments are all necessary to at least get a decent grade.

Huge pro; All the exams are taken at home, online, so you can use all your notes. Her lectures can be a bit dense, but it is an interesting subject. The textbook is good for taking notes outside of class, but if you take enough IN class, you might pass without. Participation is graded by in class assignments, so make sure you're present!

Love her class. Prof. Davis is more than flexible and wants to help you pass. She isnt too homework heavy, and her exams are straightforward and easy if you read the material. She really gets you thinking like a sociologist in a way that is fun.

Great professor. Uses her own book; reading required and almost all test answers are found in just the book so don't need lectures or slides. Lots of different assignments to cushion your grade if tests do not go well. Hw is due every two weeks. Research paper that she gives you lots of time to work on. Professor Stein's course requires some self-accountability as assignments are due every two weeks. There is a decent amount of textbook reading that will best prepare you for quizzes and exams.
