She does not care about her students and is not understanding whatsoever. She offers no extra credit and her tests are very hard. Avoid at all costs.
The worst. Doesn't provide enough content for tests, doesn't care about students, rude and no extra credit. Don't take her!!
A very stand-off person who doesnt help her students. She gives no leniency and tests are hard.
Jill Trask is one of the lest understanding professors Ive come across at TCU. She is rude, is not respectful towards her students, and gives absolutely no opportunities for extra credit. Avoid taking any class that she teaches if you want to be successful.
I can't speak for how easy other econ classes are, but I'd say her class is standard, if not a bit easier. Lets you have a front-and-back cheat sheet to use on tests which is huge. If you go through the textbook, ppts, and study guide and carefully and put that info on your cheat sheet, you'll be fine on exams. Gave us 14pt curve on our midterm too
Is the worst Professor Ive had so far. Doesnt care about her students and isnt helpful. Is very stern and refuses to round borderline grades. She is a harsh grader and test are unnecessarily hard
Dr. Trask allows large cheat sheets on exams, posts all of the information online necessary for the exam, and provides resources to study from online as well. She is a tough teacher so you have to learn the material on your own as well as in-class which is what many students in my class struggled with. If you put the time in, Dr. Trask is not bad.
Easily the worst professor I have ever had. She does not care about seeing students succeed or learn. She does not provide extra credit or round up grades so dont even bother asking. Being rude and disrespectful is her specialty so if those are qualities you value in a teacher go ahead and take her class.
4 exams, all weighted the same (final not cumulative). Her lectures are straight from the book, where each chapter is due each week anyway. She loves when you participate and will remember your name if you do. The exams are easy if you do study groups and go over each other's homework assessments that are due with the chapters (quizlets online).
Trask is unbelievably insensitive and the worst teacher I had this semester. She gives no opportunities for extra credit and she is extremely short and rude if you ever ask for help or clarification on absolutely anything.
Doesnt really teach, which is why I dropped her class. Strictly reads off PowerPoint and book. Exams were long and only doable if you taught yourself outside of class. She did allow for a cheat sheet, but was not very useful. Will also call students out at random during class to answer questions. If you miss a class she will not bother to help you
DO NOT take Econ with Trask. Tests are scantrons and you do not get feedback on them. Trick questions. Your whole grade is basically 4 impossible tests. Lectures the whole class.
I took Dr. Trask last semester and again this semester. Her lectures are easy to follow (straight from powerpoint) and you get a full page front and back as a cheat sheet for each exam. It seems like not everyone loves her but if you pay attention in class, study, and make a good cheat sheet, you can do well in this class.
Dr. Trask is one of the best instructors I have ever had. She loves what she does and she answers all questions asked by students. She is eager to help students learn the material. She does lots of practice problems in class which really helps with completing the homework. Meet with her during office hours she goes over your exams with you.
Do not take. Very rude and the test are harder than the need to be.
Do not take.
I really liked her, she doesn't just read straight from the PowerPoint and actually teaches and gives you worksheets to do. The only homework is the mc graw hill chapter once a week which are all on Chegg or Quizlet. If you actually study for the tests you should do fine. All the powerpoints are posted on D2L
Nice and funny person. Not so great lesson plans and tests. Class is chill, and homework is alright but your overall grade heavily depends on your exams. EXAMS are HARD.
This is a memorization course. She allows a printer paper front/back cheat sheet on all 4 exams. Lectures and homework questions are straight from the textbook, then most of the time exam questions are from the pool of homework questions. As long as you know how to study it's she's a pretty good professor to take for either econ.
Trask was sincere when I met with her. However, I studied and got a TCU tutor for the course and still did terribly on the exams. No other micro classes taught at TCU had as much homework as her class.
Save. Yourself. I dreaded going to this class everyday. The lectures are incredibly boring. The tests are 50 multiple choice questions. There is so much busy work for homework every week. Just please find a different professor!!!!!! trust me
Don't take, if you have to take this class, take it outside of TCU or wait a semester. The test are impossible!!
You have the same assignments due every week for each unit and she doesn't care whether it's fall break or you have a test in this class that week, you will still have homework. Attendance is mandatory and she lectures the whole class and it's insanely boring. Tests are impossible and requires like two weeks of studying. DO NOT TAKE!!!
I would not recommend this professor if you had just started college. She uses videos in the lectures, and they speak fast. There is a lot of reading in this class and a lot of homework, which takes a long time to complete. Your grade is based on the four exams, and if you start off bad, the next exam has concepts from the last one.
I wish I would've read the reviews for her before I signed up for her class. She is literally the only ECON teacher that makes her class impossible. Weekly smart-books due EVERY Wednesday that requires a lot of reading. Weekly assignments, assessments and connect activities due EVERY Sunday. The tests are ridiculous. The class is lecture heavy.
Dr. Trask is very consistent week to week. You will always know what is expected of you. She makes it possible to succeed in her class if you are willing to stay on track with the weekly work. She recognizes hard work and success which I appreciate. There is weekly reading and homework outside of class, but it is very manageable.
Avoid this professor if you can. When you are having a hard time in this class she is unwilling to help. Her "office hours" aren't even office hours, you meet on a bench outside of the classroom. She does not teach, she just repeats the information given on the PowerPoint that is made by the textbook company, not her.
DON'T TAKE HER! QUICK TEMPERED. 4 tests including final for 70% of grade. Get to bring in front/back cheat sheet to test but questions are so confusing. HW isn't bad. Classis very boring and she is not good at explaining.
I have heard many students talk about how much they hate this professor and it is because they are not willing to put in the work. Yes, there is a good a mount of homework but it is because it is necessary practice to learn the material. She breaks down the lectures so that you can understand every step necessary to reach answers.
Be very careful when taking Trask. She is very nice but structures the class very hard. Class grade is basically 4 impossible exams loaded with trick questions. She gives a cheat sheet, but it does not help very much. She gives lectures during class, but homework is hard and time consuming. If you do bard on a test it is very hard to catch up.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. do not take this class. find another professor. too much homework, difficult tests, lectures are confusing.
I would not recommend taking Professor Trask's class if you have the option. Tests are difficult + impossible to study for. The only way to know what you got wrong on the tests is to meet with her during office hours but if you have class during this time you will never know what you did on the test because she will not meet with you another time.
Would absolutely not take this class again, this is the worst professor I have ever had. The homework barely does anything to help your grade and the tests are extremely difficult. She does not lecture everything that is in the book, but then puts it on the exams. She has been no help to me when I ask questions and is a very hard grader as well.
Dr. Trask is friendly but the class is ALOT of work. Constant homework due, ZERO exceptions. Tests are 70% of grade and will really screw you over.
Professor Trask has an utter lack of passion for her teachings. She either makes no effort or has no ability to elaborate on any topic discussed in class. Instead, Trask simply reads off the PowerPoint in a very melancholy manner. Not only is she a very ineffective teacher, but I don't think she truly understands the fundamentals of economics.
Not a very passionate professor. Hard to work with as she is not the most understanding. She can be funny at times but mostly just reads off her power point. Tests are HARD.
This was easily the hardest class I've ever taken. The class is basically only lectures that don't explain anything and won't help you for your tests. The 4 tests you take make up 70 percent of your grade and are super hard even with a cheat sheet. Felt very discouraged from asking any questions in her class, which also made it difficult to do well
Dr. Trask was awesome. There was homework every week, but you knew what was expected. She provides practice work in class and created Kahoots for each chapter. I read some of the comments and they are just wrong. Dr. Trask is available every day before and after class. She always responds to emails and is willing to do zoom meetings if you ask.
Excellent Professor!!
Not as bad as some people say. Dr. Trask's lectures are okay. You have to actually read the textbook on your own to get a good grade, not just notes from lectures. Grade is based mostly on 4 tests, each of which are roughly 18% of the final grade and you get a cheat sheet. There's a lot of weekly homework.
I didn't sign up for this class but ended up having her. Most difficult class I've taken. You teach yourself everything and the lectures just review everything you taught yourself and are not helpful at all. the tests focus on topics that you don't expect because you don't go over them in class. Trask has singlehandedly put my GPA at risk.
So if you could take another professor do. She isn't horrible but she isn't great. Your grade solely depends on your test scores which are hard but not impossible. You do need to go to class in order to not fail though. Just take someone else though.
Wish I never took her. She only vomited up what the textbook said, never explained things clearly enough. Basically taught myself through the course, thought I knew everything I needed to know, then would get Cs on every exam somehow. 3 assignments ranging in difficulty every week, but just busy work that didn't help in the end. Avoid her :D
Way too much homework, expect to spend hours every week on monotonous assignments. Tests are difficult too. If you want depression, then take her class.
class is hard not worth it does not provide much material for exam preparations read on your own. take someone else
If you don't want your gpa tanked by a single class, do not take her. Even if you study for her tests for hours you will most likely still get an awful grade. This teacher isn't worth your stress or time.
Professor Trask is nice, but exams are extremely hard. There are also a lot of assignments throughout the week. The exams are 70% if your grade. I studied, did the readings, and paid attention in class and still got a B in the class. You do get a page of notes you can use on the exams.
I left her classroom every lecture and felt like it was a complete waste of time. She does not teach at all and only restates what the book does. Tests have nothing to do what the book covered and are 70% of your grade. I cried almost every week because I was so lost.
She responds to emails quickly. All class periods are spent lecturing, only a few in class activities. If you want her help, you need to go to office hours, or you will just be a head in the classroom. All assignments are online, so it is easy to get points, but not helpful for tests. She can be a bit sassy towards you.
She will call you out in lectures and when you say you don't know the answer to her questions she will continue to pick on you instead of explaining or actually teaching. Her tests are very hard. She doesn't allow you to see your test after taking it. She curved the final by 10 points because the class average was so low.
Micro can be challenging, but Trask helped clarify and thoroughly explain concepts when students needed assistance. The tests were challenging, but you were allowed a double-sided cheat sheet for every test, and she curved grades and provided extra credit opportunities. It's a lot of outside work, but I learned a lot!
There's a HW (can check answers), smart book (2 tries), & quiz (proctored) every chapter. There's 4 exams that are hard, but you get a cheat sheet front & back. I found the class difficult, but I'm not great with any kind of math. She's a little sassy & randomly calls on people. There's kahoots for extra credit. She's okay, but won't take again.
Pros: cheat sheet on every test, kahoot every chapter for test extra credit, lots of resources to practice, curve on every test Cons: long boring lecture, mandatory attendance, lots of hw, must be very good at remembering definitions and math, must be able to apply knowledge on tests. limited office hours, cold calls in class so pay attention.
Pros: Cheat sheet front and back for tests. She does Kahoots for extra credit. Cons: You have to do so much application and find your own resources to study. She doesn't give extra credit that isn't the Kahoot. Long smartbooks every week and online quizzes that are sometimes impossible. Lectures are reading off a powerpoint. Tests are hard
Dr. Trask is awesome. She cares about her students. If you have questions you need to ask because she will explain things with examples to help you understand. She lectures and then has class practice problems that we worked on in class. This helped me prepare for exams. She gives review sheets to prepare for exams and use a cheat sheet on exams.
This was a great class. Trask helps her students apply the economic content. I never knew how to study until she helped prepare me. College is hard, but with teachers like her you can be successful.
I loved Dr. Trask. She was amazing. She helped me so much and always responded quickly to emails and questions.
Professor Trask gets way too much hate for her teaching. Her class isn't the easiest, and people seem to take it out on her on rate my professor. She's a solid teacher, and if you put in the work, you can certainly get a B, and probably an A. I definitely gained lots of new knowledge. Her grading is objective, and it's hard but straightforward.
Dr. Trask cares about her students. She provides lots of practice and teaches you how to do everything! Yes, you have homework, but it all applies to what is being taught. Economics is not easy, but Dr. Trask makes it fun and relatable.
If you do the work you will perform well in this class. Everything that is required for this class is provided on the first day. Keep a calendar and make sure you complete assignments on time. Dr. Trask gives you a review sheet for every exam and she lets you have a cheat sheet for the exams. If you do the work and prepare you will be successful.
Best class and best instructor I had at TCU.
Dr. Trask cares about her students. If you have trouble you need to ask her for help. She will re-explain and give you even more examples.
Dr. Trask was wonderful. If you do the work and read you will earn at least a B.
This was a great class. It gave me a better understanding of how the economy works. Dr. Trask loves her students.
Loved professor Trask. I learned so much. She answered emails really fast and was so caring.
Take her!! You will be glad you did!!
Dr. Trask was a great professor to have. If you engage in class, take good notes, and put in the effort to understand the content you will succeed. The tests are difficult but you have all of the information, you just have to combine different topics/strategies for each question if that makes sense. Trask was really sweet despite what others said.
Dr. Trask is amazing. She lectures and provides opportunities to practice problems in class. The problem sets helped me complete homework assignments. She lets you use a cheat sheet on every exam. If you fully prepare you will do great in her class. I would definitely take her again, if I could!
She is the best econ teacher I have ever had. She truly makes sure everyone understands. You have hw, a smartbook, and a quiz every week. You get 100's automatically on the hw and smartbook if you do them. The quizzes werent terrible and dont hurt your grade too much if you do bad. 50 point tests that are multiple choice and get a cheat sheet on.
Dr. Trask is a great economics teacher. The class does require a lot of work, but if you do all the assignments, they will help your grade and force you to understand the material. She lets you have a cheat sheet for test which are very helpful. The class overall can be difficult, but if you do your work and attend class, you will be successful.
Everybody doesn't like her, but I LOVE her. Cheat sheets for every test with clear and helpful study guides. She will call on you in class, but just pay attention- she also doesn't care if you're wrong. Yes lots of HW but its really easy and get repetitive so its not even bad, boosts grade. Same things every week so you get into a routine.
Task's teaching style doesn't suit me, but many students thrive in her class. If I engaged more with the readings and homework, I might improve. The class can be dull, yet she is very kind (a hint of sass just don't be late lol) She cold calls, which I dislike, and her exams are tough! despite allowing cheat sheets and many hours of studying!
Professor Trask does not deserve the hate that she gets. Her lectures are long, and you have to do 3 assignments week, but they are all pretty easy. Multiple attempts on each, and very manageable. For the tests you get a full page for a cheat sheet and the tests are hard if you have a grasp on the material. Plenty of extra credit with Kahoots too.
Dr. Trask is the best. She cares about her students and is very sweet. You need to take her for Microeconomics. She is the best!!!
I honestly don't know why her rating is so low. She cares a lot for her students and is a fair professor. While there is a lot of outside class work, it's only so that you actually take the time to learn some of the material. Go to class, pay some attention, and then just study hard for tests and you'll be fine.
Many people say that she is an awful teacher, but I seemed to enjoy her a lot. I am not normally an A student, so I was scared going into her class. She isn't as bad as people say; I think she is caring and funny. She gives out tons of bonus points for exams that are Kahoots. You get a cheat sheet on exams and huge curves. just do the HW and u fine
Dr. Trask is one of the best professors I have had. She is a great teacher and keeps things entertaining. She offers Kahoot for extra credit and she curves test generously. You get a cheat sheet for every exam. She is very caring and funny. You won't regret taking her! My only knock is she used mcgraw hill for homework which isn't the best.
Dr. Trask was a teacher that wanted everyone to succeed; however, she made you work for it every step of the way. Tests vary because of the cheat sheet that she allows, but there is a lot of busy work that takes hours out of your week. This class is the definition of "if you put in the effort, you will succeed." Do not take for an easy A.
Dr. Trask is the best, she's so kind and wants you to Homework and smartbooks are completion, if you actually do them they help you learn a lot. Quizzes aren't bad and they help you learn. Lectures can be a little dry but really easy to go to class. Tests are not bad and you get a giant cheat sheet. Just have to show up and do the bare minimum.
Trask is such a great professor. There is ALOT of homework and tests are hard, but I learned so much in this class. If you go to her office hours for help, she will definitely try to help you understand and connect with you on a personal level. READ THE CHAPTER HOMEWORK and you will do really well!!
Dr. Trask is the best. You give you test reviews. She provides in-class Kahoots and you can earn extra points on exams from the Kahoots. She is so nice and is an awesome instructor!
Dr. Trask was the best. She was very caring and loved her students. She answered questions and always gave examples that students could relate to. You should take her if you want to work with a caring and fun economics professor.
Dr. Trask is amazing. You will love her. She is very organized and the class is very straightforward. You can create a 'cheat sheet' for exams and she provides you with a review.
Be ready to participate
Assignment schedule is consistent. For tests you are allowed to create a “cheat sheet” in which you can put as many notes as you want on one piece of paper. The content is somewhat difficult but she works through it in class and is eager to answer any questions you may have.
Lecture with worksheets that are helpful. Uses Mr. Clifford a lot. Kahoots for extra credit on tests, curves tests. Homework, quiz, textbook work due each week. 4 exams, willing to help. Random essay that she graded hard.
she will coldcall students (randomly call on you) every class.
Lectures are kind of boring, but she allows you a cheat sheet on the exams which is so clutch. 2ish hours of HW a week but I would highly recommend to take her.
Professor Trask is the kindest lady ever, and she cares about her students. However, her tests are pretty difficult and there are weekly quizzes, homework, and smartbook assignments due every Sunday. You definitely have to stay ontop of your work else you will be confused and fall behind. I learned a lot tho!!
Trask is a super nice teacher who is happy to answer any questions you have. She gives a generous curve on all the tests as well as so many opportunities to get extra credit. You get an entire page front and back cheat sheet for the tests as well. Def recommend trask for econ.
Dr. Trask is the best!!! She truly cares about her students and gives GENEROUS curves on every exam with opportunity to receive extra points on top of that. You only have one quiz, homework assignment, and smart book a week. You can make a “cheat sheet” (one printer page front and back) for each exam and you can put whatever you want on it.
Dr. Trask is amazing. Her lectures are long but very informational and she will answer any questions you have. She actually teaches rather than reading off of a powerpoint. She does worksheets in class which are super helpful for the tests! Tests are pretty hard but as long as you are in class and do the homework and quizzes you should be good.
I loved Dr. Trask. Personally, I appreciated the amount of homework she assigned because it helped me understand the material better. She loves and cares a lot for her students, really wanting them to succeed. There are 4 exams total, and each was curved A LOT. You get a (typed) cheat sheet front and back on each exam as well. My favorite class!
Nice lady, but hard and not fun class. Tests are hard and unpredictable. We did have a lot of extra credit and she does curve exams, but very hard to even maintain a B- in her class. Would not recommend. Sounds like she's the hardest option that there is. You can choose a better option.
This professor was terrible in my opinion. All of the information she shares in class has nothing to do with her exams. I had to teach myself everything in this class. She also gets mad when people do not know the answers to her questions as a result of her terrible teaching. Avoid taking this class at all costs. There are so many better professors
Before I graduate I am reflecting on all of the professors I had. I would like to issue a warning I wish I had. Dr. Trask was mean, discouraging, dismissive, and cold. She does not care if you pass or fail. She doesn't know the content she teaches. Your GPA will suffer. Your mental health will suffer. Do yourself a favor. DO NOT TAKE.
She is so sweet and nice but likes to cold-call students. She does well in explaining the content but very work heavy outside of the class if you want to succeed.
She was a very sweet professor who definitely cares about the success of her students and wants the best for them. There are options for extra credit through Kahoot's and she curves the tests. It is a challenging class for some, but if you make a good cheat sheet for each exam, you should be fine.
the students who rated her low didn't study for the exams. really not that hard.
Amazing professor I dont know why her rating is so low she's one of the sweetest professors I had and actually cares for students and I liked her consistence with assignments as I knew what to expect each week overall TAKE HER!!!
Dr. Trask is the sweetest lady. Classes are mostly lectures, but she does do extra credit Kahoots at the end of most chapters. There is a decent amount of homework every week, but it is helpful to practice the material. Tests are multiple choice, and she usually curves the test. She rounds up .5 to next letter for all grades. Ex: 89.5-100 is A.
Just took Trask this semester, it was not that difficult of a class, and she offers a lot of extra credit that is put on your exam grades. She is very nice, and although there is a decent amount of homework the overall class is not as bad as the ratings say.
