The worst teacher i have ever taken. his lectures are confusing and the first test is literally a joke. to get an A, you pretty much have to memorize all the notes. don't take unless you want to fail
He is an awful teacher. This class is really difficult. The test are impossible to pass with a 75 or better.
Doesn't lecture well. Tests are extremely hard. Does not help you study for the tests.
It is very important to study the type of material he questions before he starts lecture. He is probably the most miserable man on campus, but he is straight forward and doesn't throw curve balls on his tests. Make sure you go over everything he says that will be on the exam.
Dr. Benevides rocks! though his lectures might get a little boring after a while, he's always willing to answer any question you have. His test was decent too. If you complain about Dr. B then chances are you're gonna have a harder time surviving Dr. King.
Awesome guy. He made perfectly clear everything he expected us to know, and he lectured with the exam in mind. He is old school biology: tough, but fair. And whats with someone saying he is miserable? No way! He is a great guy to talk to one on one! One of my best profs!
I did get an A, how I don't know. He sucks as a teacher. The lecture is very boring and I was falling to sleep. The tests are hard and very broad based. If you can don't take him take King instead.
He taught bio 108 for the first part of the semester. he told us and marked the power points exactly what he was going to ask on the test. i wish he would of taught the entire semester. prob the easiest bio teacher ive had at UMKC
Thankful for the curve and clicker points. I was concerned about my grade in the class and went to his office hours, he was actually really helpful. The class before a test he'll usually highlight what's important which is nice when you have about 6 chapters to study for the exam.
Let me tell you one key to get an A in his class. Just "test bank" for the book. Questions are copy past from it. Without this dont even think about to get better than 55-60% on his test.
Got an A in the class. Thought Benevides was a terrible teacher though. He was unclear, and went in to way too much detail on exams. My advice would be to take him though seeing as he curves and you get to drop one test. Luckily for me, Geisbrecht taught the second half and she was crystal clear. Stay away if possible.
Average lecturer, overall the class is not bad
Great teacher, cares about students. Explain concepts clearly. Is clear about what's important for the test.
took last semester for 109 got an A.in108 right now it's a joke.lectures don't match up to the homework, the homework doesn't help you for the test at all. obviously you're supposed to study outside of homework but don't know what to study b/c the tests are ridic. questions are literally wrong and when you tell him he says "it's only a few points"
Dr. Benevides pushes his students to do their best and genuinely wants them to succeed. He is very approachable, responds quickly to emails, and is always willing to help. That being said, he won't allow students to take advantage of him...so be prepared to work hard in his class.
Didn't attend class, used responseware via computer.I got much higher scores on the exams after ceasing to attend class and focusing on the information contained in Campbell's.Would've had an A if I had studied for Exam 4 (got 75).Got an F on the first exam so that was the one dropped.A- overall grade.Prof is nice, but I didn't find lectures useful
He does a great job teaching a class with 300 students.
Dr. B is a good teacher. One of the most intelligent people I have encountered at the university. He is a tough teacher and does expect a great deal of work out of you but overall he is knowledgable. The tests are difficult but it wasnt meant to be an easy A. It takes work. SI sessions and the bio studio will help get the A
The only problems with this class are, first, the amount of material covered, second, it's a large class so it's harder to get enough direct interaction, third, it's a required class for a lot of students who couldn't care less:they show up late, leave early, and jack around on their phones. Take it seriously, read, do the work & pass it easily.
Dr. Benevides was a great professor! He has helped me gain opportunities that I never would have thought possible. He has a lot of faith in students who are hard working. I read each chapter in the book. The best way to study for his exams is to listen to his tegrity videos and do the study companion. If you can find an old test, use it!
Unless Biology is your major I would not recommend taking this class. There was a lot of tedious work, the lecture wasn't all that great, difficult to stay focused, tests were ridic. Took this to fill a gen-ed, ended up being a mistake. When the class is a self-taught course, as a non-major, that does not motivate me to study or do the homework.
I had him for both bio 109 and bio 108. MasterbingBiology is NOT hard. Problemset+Forum can be difficult but do-able. Bio studio is dumb in my opinion but easy 16 points a unit. Exam are NOT that hard if you look over the slides/read the book. He is a great professor that know what he is talking about and he's really cool (:
Benevides seemed like a strict professor but then I met with him and once you actually talk to him one-on-one, he's really nice and wants to see you do well in the class. The tests suck though, I would recommend studying old tests, the practice tests, and the problem sets.
Professors Benevides is the man !!! He gave us 68 extra credit !!
If you took biology in High School you should be fine in this class. Benevides cares very much about his students and is a great adviser. Study the powerpoints and use the book. You don't really have to pay attention as much in class, but everything helps. Benevides does what he can to help you succeed. Easy A class if you try.
If study the slides and some old exams you are going to be good with the extra credit.
tests over tiny details , you need to memorize every word in lecture if you want a good grade.
Great professor who understands students and bends over backwards to help. He will even speak to students in passing anywhere on campus. Highly recommend Dr. Benevides!
The nicest professor I've ever had. He is super cool but very tough. You put forth the effort and you will do well. Dr. B is always available to help students.
There are 4 unit tests and then a final exam. My lowest test grade so far has been an 89.54%. Your grade is directly related to the amount of work you put into the class. Review the Tegrity lectures, do the study companions, STUDY OLD TESTS (ask around), and don't procrastinate. You can get an A, and Benevides is willing to help. Great class.
Dr. Benevides is well respected by students, ask anyone who has had him and they will more than likely say they loved having him as a professor. His exams are hard, but if you need help with the course, he gives very good advice on how to pass the class. I would take any course taught by Dr. Benevides without hesitation.
He's one of the nicest guys I've ever met but also the worst teacher. I used to love biology but changed my mind after two semesters of him. I've taken Microbiology and A&P before this so I don't understand why he made the class so difficult. It's an intro class but he makes it like a 400 level class with all the busy work.
Extremely difficult class, but all the learning. Listen carefully during lectures--he doesn't try to trick you on tests, but they are detailed. He gives regular quizzes during class and measures attendance from there. Hardest A I've ever earned and the most I've ever studied outside of class.
There are a ton of points in this class so it's not super hard to pass but the work is definitely challenging. The assignments are all online and they are due the day before you go over the lecture for them in class. So pretty much you have to learn it on your own first and then he will lecture on it. He's very knowledgeable but not so helpful.
One of my favorite professors! A good advisor too. Dr. B gives quizzes and extra credit. Easy points for Biostudio. He genuinely cares about his students!
Benevides is a great professor. He knows what whe is talking about, and does a good job at teaching. Only downfall is that he can be a bit monotone during lectures sometimes. But he is an extremely kind and funny person if you go talk to him during office hours. Tests are tough. But he gives oppurtunity to cushion grade with HW and extra credit
He was my favorite professor this year. Benevides is very clear during lecture and is specific about what he wants you to know. He is also very good at explaining challenging concepts. Those that do not like him don't put in the amount of work required for his rigorous class, and just blame him for it when they receive a poor grade.
Dr. B is the man! He knows what he's talking about, and gives his students every oppurtunity to recieve a good grade. Your performance in his class directly correlates with how much effort you put in. Overall, I had a great experience with him, and would take him again any day.
I adore this guy. He is funny, kind, and a great professor overall. I failed the first exam in Bio 109 because of its difficulty. So I went and talked to him, and he taught me exactly what to do and how to study for his class. I slowly adjusted, and ended up getting an A in 109 & 108. 109 is 100x harder than 108 btw; anyone will agree with me.
Very good professor. Attend his lectures, rewatch it on Tegrity, do the HW & extra credit, occasionally read the chapters for clarification, and you will be fine. Old exams help a lot. very rewarding class, though.
I came to college with a pretty decent background in biology, and this class still kicked my butt at first. But I started to adjust to his exams and problem sets, and I eventually ended up with an A. I thought Dr. benevides was pretty darn good professor though. And from what I've heard, hes also 1000x better than Yoder.
Dr. Benevides is a great guy and is always willing to help students if they have a question about the material. There is a lot of homework and studio time that takes place over the semester. The class isn't that difficult; it is more about managing the volume of material covered over the semester. Read the book, come to class and you will be fine!
Dr B is a wonderful professor and advisor. He is tough in covering the material but if you come to class and put in the time by doing the masteringbio assignments you'll be in good shape. I would love to have him again.
I wish there were more teachers like him around. He is a real gem, and I'm sad he only teaches 108 & 109. Show up to class, use his office hours, study the notes he posts, utilize all of the tools he gives you, and you'll do well. There's no need to take notes for his class. He provides everything you need to know in the Powerpoints posted online.
Dr. Benevides was awesome! And His class is very easy if you put in a decent amount of work into it. His lectures are sometimes long, but he does a very effective job at making sure students understand the subject. You get a good amount of homework but 95% of the answers can easily be found online. the exams are just recall and application.
Very fast paced, make sure to do homework on time because you get lots of it. Generally, the tests aren't too bad if you get access to old tests which is not very difficult to do. He goes very fast, so make sure not to get behind with your studying. The information is not hard, there is just a lot of stuff to memorize.
5 Star professor. You do need to read the material, but he provides his slides, shows short videos in class, gives real world analogies and explanations and does not try and "trick" you with questions- you just need to know the material. Will take him for the rest of my bio classes if possible. Highly recommend!
one of the best professors in the Biology department. Exams are very difficult, but if you put the necessary amount of work in, you can do very solid. there are alot of points for his class besides exams, so there are some nice grade-cushions. If you can find old exams, Use them! They are easy to come by. Just ask around.
He has been an amazing teacher, he's cares about everyone. He talks to us like we are his children and wants the best for us. I highly recommend to take this professor for Bio 109 and Bio 108. Next semester ill be taking Bio 108 with him and I'm looking forward to it. Homework are easy but actually do them they will help you on the material.
Really cares for his students and truly wants to see them succeed. Always willing to help and answer any questions no matter how "dumb" you may think they are.
Really good professor. His lectures may be long and the material can be pretty difficult, But he does a great job at explaining the information. His exams are very tough due to the large amount of information you are required to retain. But homework assignments help boost your grade. He also posts his PowerPoints and notes online unlike Dr. Yoder.
Horribly boring to listen to in lecture. Covers an enormous range of topics, however tests are incredibly specific and tricky. This class requires a ton of work outside of lecture and lab.
I don't know what some people are are talking about; his lectures may be long but he is very specific and tells you exactly what yo need to know! an A is not that hard if you put in about 15-20 hours of study for each exam. It may seem like a lot, but it's managable. I would take him for more classes if I could.
Dr. Benevides comes across as stern at first, but he is very approachable and legitimately wants his students to succeed. He is easy to get in touch with outside of class. The class is not difficult, but there is a lot of content and it requires a lot of reading and studying if you're looking to get an A.
Dr. Benevides is truly the sweetest professor I've ever met. He genuinely cares about the success of all his students and is always willing to offer help. This class is so difficult and requires lots of studying. Expect to study at least 16+ hours a week if you want a B or 20+ if you want an A. He offers extra credit at the end of the semester.
Very sweet professor. Truly cares about his students and he wants to see each and every one of them succeed. His lectures can be long, but he gets the point across. His exams are difficult, but everything comes from the Powerpoints. It's difficult because of the extremely large amount of material required to memorize and apply. Not an A.
Dr. Benevides is a terrific professor who truly cares about your success if you put in the energy. I personally did not even crack open the textbook and passed with flying colors just from studying quizlets and the powerpoints. If you do not show up to the class you probably will not do well. However, he makes himself available to help, always!
One of the best Professors I've had so far. He's very hard on his students, especially for a level 100 class, but he also understands that because of this, many students are freshman and not well prepared for a class this hard, which is why he is so considerate and generous with curving and extra credit. Exams are very complex, but also very fair.
Dr. B is not only inspiring, but also very caring. He's awesome to talk to during his office hours and will do his best to help you out. Once you get to know him well, you'll never want to let him down. His course was fair. He tries to make it easier to pick yourself up if you ever fall. But his class is still a big wakeup call for most students.
Easily one of the best professors at UMKC. His tests are hard, however if you go to class everyday and take notes you should be gold. He is fair and gives a lot of points back. Easy A if you put in the work.
First day, he'll say that if you actively study around 10-15 hours for any of his exams, you hopefully may barely pull a C on it. He isn't lying. Dr. B is a professor that every student should have at least once in their lives. He's very caring, yet extremely tough. His class will instill the discipline you will need to be successful in college.
Had Dr. B for two semesters and highly recommend him, especially when comparing to the other Bio 108/109 profs. His lectures got boring at times but that is expected considering the topics. He does a good job at explaining everything you need to know, preparing me for my current classes. Exams are challenging but not impossible, study old tests.
He is very nice and helpful. Dr. Benevides is always happy to do whatever he can so that his students become more successful. His tests are tough, but it really teaches you how to study for college. Make sure to complete all of your homework assignments because it helps alot with your grade. Also, don't let your first exam score discourage you.
One of the very few professors in the department who is dedicated to his students' success as much as, if not, more than he is dedicated fo his research, which is extremely rare considering this is a research institution. His notes and lectures are also extremely organized. And he is very helpful during his office hours. Take him if you can.
Dr. B is a sweet guy but this was a real hard class. Effort matters, you cant cruise along, you need to keep up with material as best as you can or you won't be ready for the test. Every spare minute was spent on this class. Definitely use the textbook. If you go to Si review session and can answer 80% of the questions you'll do well on the test.
Dr. Benevides is an amazing professor. He is very passionate, dedicated, and caring. If you need to take bio 108 and 109, listen to my advice, and take it with him. He is the best professor out of the other professors who teach these courses. He does give extra credit which will help your grade because 108 and 109 are tough courses
Benevides is a great professor. Yes the class will be hard and rigorous but Benevides is a good lecturer. He makes sure that people are understanding it as he goes, and you can just tell he cares about his students. He provides lots of opportunities to get your grade up. Overall I have major respect for him, he is kind and understanding.
Definitely one of the best science professors at UMKC! He looks like he wouldn't care but when you talk to him personally he is the sweetest guy ever. The key to doing good in his class is looking at previous exams and problem sets.
This course has been one of the hardest courses in my college career. He in no means is a terrible professor, his class is just very difficult. Make sure you review previous tests if you want to earn at least a 'C' on exams. And start studying material at least 2 weeks before in advance. SI sessions didn't help much.
Hardest tests Ive ever taken. I cant even tell you how to study because studying the book didnt help me nor did studying the lecture notes. The class is roughly an hour long and he goes through the notes so fast that we would get through around 70 PowerPoint slides in that time. Not a horrible professor, just really hard.
Dr. Benevides is a man of honor and integrity, and it really shows when you talk to him. He is the kindest, most caring professor I've ever met. His lectures are very organized and he really knows his stuff. Exams are very difficult, yet completely fair. He goes over all concepts and details he tests you on. There's just so much to know. Take him.
Dr. B is the most caring professor I have come across yet. He is very well spoken and REALLY knows his stuff, but he talks to you like you're an equal and really cares about student success. If you go to him about your grade, he won't tell you theres nothing you can do, he will ensure that you get the help you need.
He is a blessing to UMKC's Biology department. Content-wise, his class is among the most difficult, but the guidance and resources he gives you makes success very possible. Dr. B is also a very good lecturer and mentor.
Such a kind and pleasant guy. Initially, he seems intimating, but lecture-by-lecture, it becomes obvious how high-spirited he is. Go to his office and get to know him. He's very fun to chat with. If you're struggling, he will always reassure you and get you on track no matter how far gone you are. I always left his office with hope and a smile.
He is a fine professor but he is a tough grader and will never respond to your emails when you ask him what you missed. Each grade is basically a roll of the dice regardless on how hard you try. Good luck with him.
Dr. Benevides is nice and always willing to help you out. Personally, however, I feel he was not the best teacher. He rushes through lectures and is a little confusing about what material exactly he wants us to know. Be prepared for bi-weekly assignments and dont forget about them because they are worth a lot. He gave us 50 extra credit though.
I had Dr. Benevides for 108 and 109. I had about a C average on all of my exams and got an A- in both classes (much diff from every other bio class). Make sure to always do your Mastering Biology and Problem Sets, even though they just feel like a bunch of busy work. I never read the book. Study slides and memorize any old tests. Boring lectures.
Best professor at UMKC and would recommend this class for an upper level biology class.
I really like him as a person, and he clearly knows his stuff, but his lectures are fast, and extremely hard to study. The information you are given is mostly applied to situations, so the tests are hard. Make sure to do all the problem sets and mastering biology's. He did meet with me and was very helpful with explaining information i didnt get
Awesome professor. But if you're expecting him to tell you what will be on the exam, you will hate this class. He'll teach you everything you'll need to know, but expect to study 350+ slides worth of material per test, and apply that information as well. Very kind and understanding guy. He knows his classes are hard, and will always work with you.
He teaches you what you need to know and gives you the resources to succeed in his classroom. You can't really get much better for Biology than Dr. Benevides. Here's what you need to succeed: Go to class for quiz points. Understand the bold in his ppts. Do your mastering bio and weekly quizzes online. Office hours. Also, don't buy the textbook.
James Benevides needs to have a more helpful and enthusiastic attitude. His lectures are dry and boring, like he is reading from a script, just going through the motions. Also, his tests are tricky - be prepared for tricky questions.
If you have to take 108&109, take it with him. He's very tough, but his exams perfectly correlate with what is on his slides, which is what he goes over in class. There's just a lot to learn and apply. He seems a bit dry during lecture, but if you talk to him outside of class, his passion for teaching radiates. He's also very sweet and personable.
He seems intimidating in class, but Benevides is super nice when you go to his office hours. He gives lots of extra credit and gives opportunities to improve your grade. His tests can be difficult but he gives you resources like old exams and practice tests. Don't bother buying the textbook, just use ppt that he provided.
Seriously one of the best professors you could ask for in biology. He was accessible understanding and did all he could to help students succeed. Offered up Extra credit opportunities and seemed to really know what he was talking about. He really excelled at teaching an intro class to new learners.
Professor Benevides is a great advisor and person outside of class. I believe he is a good professor, but you have to study the past tests to do well on the tests. Pay attention and do all the work and youll do fine
He doesn't curve, but gives extra credit everywhere. BIOL108 has a ton of content to cover, and he does go through it fast and kinda dryly, but he's enthusiastic about the topics if you engage him. DO ENGAGE HIM. You'll benefit from his knowledge and passion and humor if you do. He's boring if you're boring. Tests are easy but extensive.
First, I just took this class over the summer so it was basically double the speed. He gave us so many extra credit opportunities and was always available after class and the night before the test if we had any questions. Highly recommend him, he doesnt just read slides, and always answers questions until the student understands.
Definitely the best professor I have ever had, nuff' said.
Dr. Benevides was super nice and is always willing to answer questions after class, via email, or in person during office hours. He'll go over any homework or test questions with you. Attend class because there are in-class quizzes after lecture, but you get to work with others, so don't sweat it. Study for tests ASAP--lots of material on them.
Dr. Benevides is a great professor and he is extremely understanding and helpful. He does give a lot of homework and some of the tests can be hard. However, he gives so much extra credit and gives you tons of opportunities to get the grade you want.
Took during the Fall 2021 semester. His exams consists of multiple choice/short answer questions, he also provides old exams which helps for studying purposes. Gives plenty extra credit opportunities (weighs exam if class average exceeds his goal). Beware: you will not know your current grade is the class, updated every other unit.
I had Dr. Benevides first semester and looking back, he was an amazing professor! He tells you what you need to know and as long as you go through ALL of his practice exams, you are almost guaranteed an A in the class. He also offers a lot of extra credit in the middle of the semester and towards the end of the semester. Would take again!
He's a good Biology teacher, I think his classes aren't that hard if you study for the tests. If you have access to old exams, take it because there's a lot fo repeats. He's a really nice professor, and sometimes repeat and emphasis somethings during the lecture to hint that it'll be on the exam. He gives extra credit so it wasn't hard to get an A.
He taught and explained information in lecture. He didn't only read off of the slides and was passionate about what he taught. Has in class quizzes/polls that you have to be in class to take but can work with others. Required to do a study session once a week but you only have class Mondays when there are tests. Extra credit opportunities.
Dr. Benevides is one of the few professors that made me passionate about biology again. Although he reads off the slides in his lectures, if you take the time to go to his office hours and ask questions, he explains everything very thoroughly. He is very kind, supportive, and wants his students to succeed. One of my favorite professors.
Dr. Benevides does just about the best job anyone could do with such a loaded course. The professor is incredible in clarifying any concerns or questions on homework, exams, etc. Take advantage of his office hours. I didn't find SI or SSG very useful. Take advantage of all extra credit and study opportunities otherwise.
GREAT professor! my grade does not reflect on him, definitely I could have studied more.
I enjoyed this class although I did find some of the classwork difficult
If you can take Benevides, do it! Although his class is challenging, he gives you so many resources. From practice tests to MANY extra credit opportunities, he gives you many chances to raise your grade. He is a knowledgable professor and his lectures are very interesting. The study groups are also very amazing. His TAs are awesome!!
Definitely read the book, you cannot depend on the slides.
I love this man. SO personable and wants you to succeed. By far the kindest professor I have had. He is so approachable.
Best professor ever. He genuinely cares for you as a person and gives you several opportunities to do well in his class. His exams are difficult, so make sure you study well for them. He also gives out a lot of extra credit. Try to attend SI sessions as they were the most helpful to prepare for exams.
Dr. Benevides was an amazing professor! I wish I could have him for BIO 109! He offered 20 points extra credit on the final exam, 15 if the class surpassed a certain grade on the class average for the last exam, 5 for the course eval. If you go to office hours he even gives you points back on exams if you know the material!
He is a good and caring professor but u will have to meet up with him after every test to keep your grade in place. he does a lot of extra credit. doing old quizzed and going through each and every slide and being able to explain it would help a lot.
if anyone tells you this class is hard, it's because they don't study. this is pretty indepth for an 100 level bio class, but if you just study the material you will pass just fine. also, schedule a meeting with him if you don't like your exam grade because he will give points back. he is sososo nice and reasonable when you meet one-on-one.
this professor is amazing. he cares for his students and wants to see everyone succeed. 10/10
Great Professor. Talk to him and he will work with you if you put in the work.
Took fall22. He's amazing, designs the course in a way that if you participate you will pass. Do HW, it'll teach you the material. Attend lecture & studygroup. Do all extra credit. Cycles questions in from studyguides. Talk to him after exam, study what you got wrong, he gives back pts if you can answer correct @office hours. 10/10
Great professor, I'm glad to of had him! He does record the lectures, however, he walks away from the mic sometimes and it's impossible to hear what he says. ALWAYS make an appointment to meet with him after EACH of your unit tests, he will give you half or full points back if you can explain the correct answer to him.
Nothing but greatness from Dr. Benevides
Attendance is not necessarily mandatory but he does quizzes at the end of each lecture for extra points so it's in your best interest to go. Always meet with him to go over your test as he will give you points back, but he rarely ever answers his emails. He is very kind and sweet, but his lectures do tend to drag a bit.
There is a lot of content, but it's doable. Go to his exam reviews, he gives points back on exam questions. He also curves and does a bunch of extra credit
Ended up with above a 100% but averaged B+ on exams. TONS OF EXTRA CREDIT. Never went to office hours but he will give lots of points back on exams. Class content was manageable, just do some quality studying 6 hours a week out of class and it's a very easy A. Prof was good and the lectures I attended were engaging, clicker points are ez to get.
Great professor. Don't miss too much class, as he often forgets to upload the recordings (or they do not record). Sometimes, he is hard to get a hold of by email, but he is always willing to help a student out when he can. Lots of extra credit, very kind.
Professor Benevides is incredibly kind and wants students to succeed. While the class can be challenging, he offers many opportunities for extra credit and is willing to work with you one-on-one. Using resources like unstuck AI alongside regular studying can really help prepare for exams.
To be successful, after lectures write better definitions (MUST) because you won't have time in class. If you don't understand something go to him because 1 on 1 he's a super helpful teacher. Prepare for tests a week minimum in advanced. Tests are about 70% on critical thinking. USE THE PRACTICE EXAMS, ALMOST ALL of the questions are on the tests.
Dr. Benevides was a good professor overall. He is very knowledgeable and knows what he is talking about. Most of your grade is exams so study well for those. There is weekly homework that isn't to bad. Would take again!
Bio 108 offers too much material to condense into a single semester. But they pack it all into a 4 month period all the same. Dr. Benevides does a fine job delivering the material, however it can be a lot to take in. He seems understanding of this, and does whatever possible to help students pass, so long as they can seek him out outside of class.
He canceled one lecture every week and crammed everything into 2 days instead of 3 - moving too fast and making a difficult class even more difficult. Would give extra points if you go talk to him - unfair and unrealistic considering theres over 100 students in the class. Very boring lecturer.
His tests are pretty difficult as it is a STEM class, but as long as you study you should do fine. DO ALL THE OLD EXAMS. He recycles many questions. Meet with him after every single test, he gives a lot of points back. He goes pretty fast during lecture but records all. Do his polls and attend every study group, it's a lot of extra credit points.
I thought professor Benevides was reasonable and helpful. He mostly reads off the slides, but he's very thorough and I think he does a great job explaining all of the content. He's very clear and answers questions. There's a lot of opportunity for extra credit and to earn points back after exams. Use old exams and practice exams to study.
This class is difficult and there is a lot of material that he has to get through quickly. He is very helpful, will answer and explain any questions you have. Offers lots of extra credit.
