MY God, He likes to talk Darwin in his class. He always gives joke in a ****y way. His lecture actually out of the book. You don't know what is the life span of psychology really should be. Have to read the book after class and do the homework.

His was the first class that I took at De Anza and I loved it. He lectured out of the book, gave us a study book and had class discussions. I'd take him again if I could. I recommend this class highly and him teaching it.

Not following textbook, 3 times hard-working multiple choice bring home but end up to nothing. He doesn't like to give his students a "A", even a "B". The most he likes is grade "C". It's what I heard and now it's true.

He's all of those things. Hard and easy. Cocky, funny, and yet approachable. Very busy man w/day job and 4 boys at home (heard having marital trouble) so doesn't pay too much attention to personal effort on the part of the students. I recommend.

DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS!!!His tests are ez.I aced d 1st 2 & ended up gettin 67 on d finals bcuz he just felt like it!I was pretty sure I got a 100 on dat.Emailed him and he said evn if i got a 100 it's not gna make a difference on my grade bcuz of dat 1 quiz "he said" i failed w/c of course i didn't!

He teaches anything that comes to his mind. He's ineffective, unorganized and unprofessional (says the dirty word "f***" in the class). All exams were take home and I got A. But my final grade is B. I think he guesses the grade he gives to students not familiar to him.

He was the best teacher i have had to date. He didnt fluff things or tip-toe around subjects, he just taught us what he knew. I could tell that he enjoyed teaching and i thank him for evrything he's givin me.

This professor keeps you entertained, I wouldnt recommened him to people that are close minded or offended to profanity because he does use alot. All tests and finals are take home and I did well on them but somehow I still managed to get a C in the class which still boggles my mind.

If offended by profanity and ****ed sexual content stear clear of this class. Work load is light. Most of learning from text. Lectures apply aspects of text to modern day scenarios.

I've never had a prob with him and got B's in both classes with very lil work. Unfortunantly however he does not grade fairly. I worked closely with people and got similar grades on all assignments and they get lower grades than me (C and D). He grades people differently for no apperant reason.

He did not go by the syllabus and was unsure about due dates and test dates. Many students complained about being confused during his lectures because it was not about the topic discussion. Related Psch to sex a lot. He wasn't even there on the day of the final. Good Luck.

He is a horrible teacher in DeAnza. You never know why you got C or below, even you did everything well. You never know the total points of all homework and exam, so you could not calculate and expect what grade you would get. You never learn anything related to the textbook. He should be fired!!!!

Nice guy, however he seems to guess the grades at the end of the quarter. I got an A on every test and assignment and some how ended up with a B. Very frustrating....good class to take just be ware.

Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic teacher. Great lectures on current & relevant topics that not only relate to the book but relate to us and our everyday lives. If you want a boring teacher where you read and they give you their typical monotone lectures then take another class. I wish all teachers were this enjoyable.

He is a nice person, but is very unfair with grading. I felt the grade he gave me was extremely unfair since I did all my work got A's on all of my test, but at the end I got a C. Makes me wonder if he really grades fairly. I think he needs to go back to being a engineer not a teacher.

Really cool teacher. Just make sure you go to class, participate and he'll give you an A. Not a hard class. I wasn't even interested in Psyc, but he'll really teach you things to make you realize how much Psyc is around us in real life.

He was a pretty easy teacher... a lot of people said they got low grades in his class, but so did i and i just e-mailed him with concern about it and he changed my grade from a C to an A. Maybe some of you should question your grade instead of just accepting it.

I've been at UC Berkeley for two years and I still haven't had a teacher as interesting, intelligent, and effective as Dr. Clifford. He's brilliant. Hands down the best lecturer I've ever had - it's uncanny how much he knows and how well he brings it together. But, if your gpa is more important to you than god, then maybe you should not enroll.

Clifford is a bright guy and teaches for his own entertainment, he makes more than enough money to not have to teach at all but he feels the need to give back to community colleges. His lectures can run on and totally off topic but sit through it and collect your A. He does brag a bit but who wouldnt when you make $177,000 a yr?

He is a very helpful and easy going person. I turned in all my quizzes at end of quarter. he had no probs with that. The best instructor I have ever come across. He does not teach by the book, but rather by common sense and real life scenarios. Very humble person, left a deep impression on me.

Easy class, easy-going instructor. Doesn't give in class tests, hands out "study guides" (kinda like a take home test) instead. Lectures can be boring and don't make sense at times, if you don't read the book. He's hella hot though!

If grades are important to you then I suggest you not taking this class. I did all my homework (which is what he bases your grade on - just like take-home tests). He doesn't really talk about textbook stuff but teaches about how important psychology is and how it is around us. I got a D but I emailed him about it and in the end he changed it to a B

A very easy class, almost impossible not to get an A. But guess what, he guesses your grade. He didn't give me my last test back. I know I got all the answers right and he said i had 20 mistakes. I asked for the scantrons back and he said he doesn't keep old tests and even if i had a perfect score, it wouldn't change the B he gave me. Such a jerk!

I got B, although I did all the assignment & got 97% correct on 3 tests. I wrote him email for getting A, he then sent me Redo questions. I spent lots of time on Redo questions, they aren't easy. Eventually, he changed my grade to A.

I would highly recommend him to anyone. This class is easy and very entertaining. The only thing you have to worry about are study guides, read!! There are 100 questions but he only makes you do 50, even or odd ! No test, No final! He's awesome, take him! Oh yeah he's very laid back, he accepts late work, and doesnt take attendance!

I enjoyed this class, our class had a lot of laughs and he was easy going and understanding. He was a nice guy and I look forward to taking his psych 14 in the fall. He isn't bad looking either for a older man w/ boys, i wonder if theres a mrs. clifford. He made me enjoy psych a lot more. definitely a hottie too

Great and funny guy, however, I hate this class because it's so boring and I am learning absolutely nothing from him. In order to get an A you need to make an impression. No midterms, take home tests and that's it. We don't really follow the text and that's frustrating because I don't even know how to start. I just do the test and that's it.

If you really want to learn something in psychology do not take him. He talks about every thing except psyhology.His grading is awful.It does not matter for him if you answered all the questions by yourself or copied from someone. He does not care about the class. An interesting teacher. You can tell he knows alot about psychology and defifnitely wants you to learn something. He makes you do take home tests out of the textbook (15 chapters) a few worksheets and thats all. None of his lectures actually follow the textbook though. Its not a typical learning environment but its fun. No tests or final.

Ok, he's interesting. But if you want help good luck getting a email or phone call back. He is so unhelpful. Seems to me, he just teaches for the money, nothing more. Really easy. No tests! I guess it's nice to have that much ease, but if psych is your major don't rely on him helping you retain info.

He never checked the attendance. He's very enthusiastic in teaching and very considerate to students. All in all he's not too bad. He's very lenient too. You'll pass his class as long as you submit all the requirements.

He is nice, but if he knows your name he is quick to use it. Can put you on the spot sometimes. The text book is used a lot, most of what he turn in is based on text book material. He is a genius though, he knows what he is talking about, and he is eager to share his knowledge. It's a hard class, but I recommend it if it interests you.

Great teacher! Easy class! Just three take home tests and no final! He doesn't take attendance. He is very funny and doesn't beat around the bush when he's honest about something. Have to read a lot though. It's worth it! Highly recommend!!! Easy A!

i did not learn one thing in this class. i could not keep up with his lectures at all and half the class left in the middle of the quarter. he says "do you get it" after every sentence. HOWEVER, aside from not gaining any knowledge this class it is fairly simply to PASS. i emphasize PASS bc there are no A's. turn in all assignments and no final.

One of the best teachers at De Anza, in terms of keeping your attention and making you interested in the material. Clifford is incredibly smart, really knows his stuff. Don't take this class if you can't take a joke or get offended easily. If you want a class that you LIKE going to, Clifford is your man. Not a lot of work, A is possible if u try.

He's not a lousy teacher, he knows what he's talking about. Though all he does is talk. The lectures can be long, lots of note taking which help on his worksheets. A few videos, tests are take-home/multiple choice. Overall he's ok...if you want more POW in a class, take another teacher. He can get boring and basically just follows the book.

All of the tests are take-home and straight from the book. His lectures, while informative and hilarious (if you aren't easily offended,) do NOT follow the text at all. It's very important to go to class and take notes because they'll have your answers for the worksheets. This guy loves to talk science!

Note taking is a must if you want any chance of completing the worksheets. Get to know your classmates and work together to complete them. It's almost impossible to make any sense of his lectures alone. He doesn't follow a syllabus with specific due dates for assignments, so just do the work and be ready to turn them in at any given moment.

Lets start with- I am a LAAZYY student- & his class is easy. No tests, no finals, etc etc. he doesn't go with the book, but you learn from his lectures. take notes, pay attention. It's an interesting class if you participate. he's hella funny, i say taaaakeee.

His notes during the lecture are terrible! It's like watching a football play diagram being written as he scribbles more on the notes. The plus side of his lectures is that he is very funny and entertaining to listen to. Videos watched during class are great and relative to the subject. Test is not too hard and is based of the book. Not notes!

No tests/final and lectures are pretty interesting. Warning: his worksheets are very confusing. He says he wants you to think to come up with the answers, but he will only accept his one answer as correct. I voice recorded his lectures (a must) and he'd contradict himself on the answers fairly often. Make friends for doing the worksheets together!

Class was literally nonsense. He gives us worksheet that you can never find the answer on google for. MAKE FRIENDS. Scantrons were easy; DOES NOT follow the book. He goes on and on speaking about "mind and matter" and a bunch of random things. I learned nothing for my psychology major. I pass with a C even though i failed all of his worksheets.

Lectures are very engaging, however, notetaking can be troubling and redundant. Take home scrantron tests; in class Quizzes based off take home worksheets that are confusing and ambiguous. Find others in the class to partner with--it will help.

I enjoyed this psychology class, if you listen to the lectures,take good notes and do the homework you'll get an A for sure. The homework was scantron chapter tests which were easily done when I read the chapters thoroughly. I look forward to taking another psychology class with him!

His lectures are very interesting. Not always relevant to the subject, but interesting. He does scantron take home quiz/tests from the book and really vague worksheets. Worksheets are based on notes from the lecture and yes you need to read between the lines to be able to answer them. Partner up so you can work together.

Jim strays off topic but it is interesting. You're graded on worksheets, and take home quizzes in the back of the text, you actually need to buy the book. Roll isn't taken but I recommend you go! His worksheets will confuse the hell out of you. Going to class will help. Sit up front, speak up and make sure he knows your name it'll help! Good Luck!

The grade in this class is dependent on really confusing worksheets and take home tests that are easy if you read the textbook. Honestly, this class is easy if you read the textbook, attend class, and take notes of his lecture. By the way, his lectures are hilarious. Good luck everyone!

I'm pretty sure he's never taken role the entire quarter and there hasn't been a single test. His lecturers are very confusing and he changes the subject a lot. His worksheets are pointless and confusing. Also, assignments and quizzes are all on learnsmart but I don't see his connection of the learnsmart book to his lectures. Not recommended.

Lectures are confusing and didn't relate to the book at all. He always jumped from one topic to another which made it even more confusing than before. Also his lectures seemed to be based off his own opinion at times. The worksheets were extremely confusing and, even if you payed attention in class, the answers are still difficult to find.

Clifford is an amazing teacher. He is hilarious and engages the class. His lectures bring real life examples into the psychology perspective. Do the home work and the quizzes and show up, if you read the book you will understand the lecture. If you are looking for a cookie cutter class this is not for you. He makes you think! He is awesome!!

Clifford is hilarious and engages the class with off the wall examples. Do the home work and the quizzes and show up. He makes you think! He is awesome!! Take home fill in the blank is confusing at first but he gives you all the answers if you pay attention and don't over think them. Buy the book. I would take him again. Good Luck!!!

Nice guy and a SF Giants fan! The class was extremely boring, and his lectures are confusing. But not as confusing as his worksheets! I always catch him say, "You guys get this?" after every sentence -__- annoying, but sometimes funny with his lame jokes. I failed most of his worksheets, but I passed his class with a B. Easy grader.

Totally Crash! Ask and you shall receive the answers to your questions. Always has the habit of asking, "Did you get that?" If not, do ask. Very friendly, funny, and realistic. Do the online reading and assignments; serves as a rather large grade cushion. Very inspirational. Indeed an outstanding character. Coming to class is very helpful.

Professor Clifford is awesome. He is realistic and highly intelligent. He really knows his stuff. If anyone has things to complain about its because they aren't trying. The class is very do able as long as you are not a fool. Will be taking his classes again.

This man should have been a philosopher. You can follow along while he is lecturing but wow is it a brain game. All the homework is online along with five in class tests and a video report. It is not a run of the mill psych class, you get all the info from the book and then go over some of it in class.

Honestly, the class inculcated in me a deep admiration of philosophy- it's psychology but it's taught from a philosophical perspective. His notes look like crap- a bunch of dictionary meanings thrown on paper at first, but give it time. Open your mind- Connect denotations and random definitions to ideas and meaning. Do the quizzes and extra credit

Has a different way of teaching. Open-book tests, no finals. But as i've mentioned, he teaches differently and gives out worksheets to complete. Unless you're willing to attend all his lectures, read through things, connect the dots on your own, then take this class.

He is a great guy - very funny and intelligent. However, this man would make a better scientist or philosopher than a teacher. As interesting as his lectures can be, he is hard to understand and he is very vague. You will struggle to understand what to do and there will be A LOT of studying/reading involved.

Prof Clifford's a funny guy but as the quarter went along, his class just became more of a burden (sorry prof) I loved the discussions we had in class but the bulk of your grade is based on reading the text and taking online quizzes which makes it very tempting to just skip. But dont do that b/c he occasionally collects stuff for grades as well.

WONDERFUL prof. He believes books are the foundation to knowledge and he is right. There's more to a subject than just reading the book, and that is what you get in his class. He doesn't believe in testing students, because 'if you ask a fish to climb a tree, it'll think it's stupid the rest of it's life'. Go to his lectures, you won't regret it.

Everything is online except the class lectures. I didn't take an online class though. The worksheets in class are easy and for extra credit. There are 80 questions that you have to get right to pass the reading(the software tells you which page). You can check your answer for each quiz question until one gets it right. Teacher is informative.

This class was fantastic. He doesn't lecture out of the book - he expects you to read the book and take the online quizzes yourself (it is an intro class, after all. It doesn't go into a ton of detail). His lectures are very different - more of a philosophy of science class. Got me really excited to pursue a PhD.

I love this professor! His lectures are a little hard to follow at first and it can be a little intimidating but he gives you printed notes, after a while everything he says really makes sense! He gives you the deadlines for all the HW the first day so you can do the HW at your own pace. He is a great teacher & would definitely take him again!!!!!!

The homework was passed off the textbook online to read, but theres a lot of time in between each due date to do it, its 4 quizess due each time. He offers extra credit. Take this class if you like to learn about the theory of knowledge, and like studying out of the book on your own about psychology. Lots of papers for notes and videos. The book has chapter quizzes and over 50 reading questions about the chapter (30+ pgs each ch). It's like learning two different subjects in one through lecture and online.

First and foremost, Jim cannot teach. His lectures are repetitive, and by repetitive I mean every lecture is exactly the same. He tells you that you don't need to take notes, and quite frankly, you wouldn't want to. He hands out numerous worksheets in class that are next to impossible to decipher, making this class attendance mandatory. Skip.

Really awful teacher. His lectures are awful and he goes off on long irrelevant tangents. He passes out so many worksheets that are hard to read and have almost nothing to do with what is in the textbook. I don't remember too many in-class tests luckily but I learned literally NOTHING from him. Better off not taking him.

Absolutely awful. Lectures make no sense and off-topic all the time. The book does a better job of teaching you. You take online quizzes on the reading but he won't tell you when they close. That's a majority of your grade. Do not take him. You would be signing up for a headache. And you are expected to track your own grades.

The professor's lectures are fairly interesting but repetitive (for a reason!) which can get a little mundane. The assignments he gives are interesting and relatively easy. He's a pretty lax grader but also gives helpful feedback on how you can improve or look at something in a different way. The textbook assignments are all on quizlet.

I was excited for this class and felt like I learned plenty but then he began to assign questions that had to do with his lecture. They left me confused and dropped my grade tremendously. His lectures are a mess. Not only that, but he asked the same questions for every assignment. He also lowered my grade because I did not want to repeat my answer.

his prerecorded lectures are hell, they're super boring (I've fallen asleep twice), but his little greeting videos are fun. you can tell he's doing his best, he's trying to accommodate his work online. the work is okay, it's just the lessons that are hard because you can barely focus on what he's saying.

I would say if this class isn't required for your coursework, don't take it. You have to listen to multiple video lectures/week and they don't make sense at all. The writing assignments are based on the video lectures, and take a lot of time to complete. The lectures don't correlate with any of the chapter readings, or they're from other chapters.

This prof is very dedicated to his field and research. However, he struggles to concisely & effectively convey material and what he expects from students, along with lack of effective & transparent grading criteria. Lectures are long, HW assignments very time consuming - he gives feedback, it is just unintelligible most times.

The worst professor I have taken. Has no clear grading criteria and expects you to watch 8-12 hour long lectures and read 2-3 chapters a week, and the lectures are incomprehensible. Lectures are not based off of the textbook. Nobody in my class received full credit on an assignment, submits the same 30 page comment on assignments for everyone.

I took him for PSYC2, and do not recommend. No one has gotten 100% on the written assignments, pretty much only gives out B. Lectures are long, unclear, and does not give notes. No clear grading criteria, his assignments are very unclear, the wording is confusing. No exams, no actual research paper which is nice but I advise taking ANYONE else.

Prof. Clifford is the worst professor I have taken. His writing assignments take upwards of four hours to complete, and he grades it at random. Out of 8 writing assignments, the closest to full credit someone got was 23/25. All assignments are repetitive and only focused on experimental psyc. Gave us ex. psyc textbook as well. Do not take.

Avoid by all means possible. Clifford's jumbled speech; mental and academic opacity; error-prone repetitive writing assignments; and a complete sham of an grading process marks a 3rd serious educational failure in my 1.5 years at De Anza. If you take Clifford's class, immediately obtain an email correspondence with De Anza's dean as a safety net.

Async class. Lectures = no speed button. canvas/syllabus = not structure properly. homework = based on book, so make sure to read or skim. Harsh grader Quizzes = Easy. Honestly just a really bad professor. His Canvas page is completely unorganized and confusing. He would assign weekly assignments that would sometimes have up to 50 short questions in them, easily taking up to 5 hours to complete. And best of all, he would NEVER give full credit on any assignment. Do yourself a favor and don't take him.

Professor Clifford's class is extremely challenging. While he's passionate about his field, the lengthy lectures and unclear grading make for a frustrating experience. Staying on top of readings and using study aids like Unstuckstudy are a must to survive this course.
