Awesome professor and really knows what he's doing if you actually pay attention and TRY!!

Look at the negative to positive post ratio and you will get an idea of the bio major to chem major ratio at UNCC. If you're a bio major, you're accustomed to regurgitating details, therefore not cut out for Orgo w/o an attitude adjustment. Dr. X rocks.

Extremely hard class in the first place! Excellent professor, too bad people blame him when they are just incompetent. Organic is not for everybody.

The only professor to take for organic II lab! Although you'll have to work hard it's worth it in the end and so much better than the other options for Organic II labs.

Its hard to appreciate a good professor when all you care about is getting by. I made a D in his class the 1st time b/c you basically relearn Organic. If all professors were as detailed as him, the class wouldn't be so much of an adjustment. Brilliant

It may be easier if some students actually studied instead of expecting everything handed to them on a plate. The information is there for those who care to pay attention. To all the people whinning I have a recomendation, STUDY!

I like my Ochem spoonfed and thats what he does.

if i was 60 years old, this dude would be my guy big time, he knows his S@%T, and if you take the time to care about learning, and talk with him rather than B&*#H about how hard the course if you might actually do good, and realize how great croswaithe is

EXCELLENT. Those that do not like him or do not do well, do not put forth the effort needed to do well. He is always willing to answer your questions in or out of class, just make sure you have been keeping up. He makes it interesting and make sense!

Excellent 'teacher'. If you truly want to 'learn' and understand organic Chemistry, he is the guy for you. Couldn't recommend a professor MORE!! He is not going to spoon-feed you or let you memorize a science! Treats you as a 'college' student!

Wonderful professor. Organic chem is a difficult subject, but he is a brilliant teacher and makes it as clear as it possibly can be.

This man will make you work!! If you are planning on taking the MCAT you need his teaching style, trust you will know organic backwards and forwards after he gets through with you. But no full loads!! you will need LOTS of time, and patience.

Best teacher I ever had!! Does not spoonfeed. So if you are unable to comprehend difficult material then you would not like his class. Wants you to learn and think!! Students at UNCC want everything spoonfed so they cry about it! Take Mattingly if you want a slower subpar level or cpcc!!

I think is the hardest teacher, but he the great teacher, he is just tring to get the point across, he wants you all to work hard and understand and positive side of him is that he does not want everyone to memmorize all the molecules in the book so that is good right????

If you want to take Organic Chem take Crosthwaite because all your other options will suck! Crosthwaite is the best teacher. He is not hard, he just doesn't spoon feed! All those that think he is hard are just lazy and should be business majors instead!!

He is the best teacher! will prepare you for the MCATS unlike all the other OC teachers! If you take other teachers you might get an easy A, but you will not be able to do good on the MCATS!Define recommended!!

he is one of the best teachers at uncc. he is a bit confusing at first but once you get to know him better you will just love him and love the class. you have to study hard to be able to pass and take good notes in class his tests come directly from the notes

The man is a genius, and really tries to have his students learn to think.

He is a great professor - he will do whatever it takes to make you understand the material. However, he is not easy and has little patience for students who are lazy. Bio majors who complain about him should end their thoughts of med school.

He is an excellent professor. He does expect you to work for your grade and learn the material. Class is hard but he is willing to help you, go to his office. If you want to go to med school and you can't make it through his class good luck in med school. He made the material interesting.

I wish I had him last semester. Yeah Mattingly is easier and slower but I feel like I have a lot of catching up to do. He moves very fast, but he seems to catch everyone's attention. I don't know how long I can deal with hearing "right right" and "alrighty" though.

I am sick of people whinning that they find organic difficult. Do your bit and actually study and you'll be fine. All some people want is to be spoon fed, get a grip this is NOT high school! You want a degree? Go and earn it by studying!

Crosthwaite is the BEST teacher. Especially if you are going to take the DAT or MCATS. If you take Brown you will do bad. People that don't like him are properly just looking for a EASY class and then found out the hard way!IF you want to be a DOCTOR then SHUT UP and STUDY,then maybe you won't FAIL!

Crosthwaite is the best especially for lab. I had him for organic one Lab and made an EASY A!Then I had Micheals for Organic II. She is a MILLION times harder and a billon times more picky. For example she requires 3 LONG papers and croshwaite DON'T! also her test is like 3 times LONGER and HARDER!

He is the best teacher ever! Learned it all from his notes without text and got an A. Stop all the whining, college is supposed to be hard, if you want the easy way out go get a construction job or work at mcdonalds, and stop complaining about a man who wants you to learn organic without memorizing! God forbid we can't memorize what will I do!

This guy knows his****. He is the greatest, smartest professor that I've involved with. He is very clear in the things that he taught. He is an instructor that will simply sit down and teach you what he've taught you before, thats if you don't understand it. He also has high expectations. He expect you know some of the materials from the previous classes, so be prepared. Best of Luck.

He knows everything. He will prepare you for medical tests ex. PCAT,MCAT ect.. but he is very very very hard. I think he is a good teacher but he needs to stop making the students seem stupid when they ask questions.

GREAT. This is a HARD HARD HARD class. But he does the best job of explaining the concepts. Here is a noble concept for the complainers Study!!!!!! Look I did not study much for one test because of a Biology test the day before and still made a C on the test only studying that day. Take him he is hard but the best organic teacher at Charlotte.

Honestly, this man is a genious, and althogu he is very challenging, he really does help you alot, if you seek help. People who complain alot probably dont study as much as they need to. If you study, go to SI Session, and porblem sessions, and ask him questions, you will get excellent grades!! TAKE HIM HE IS THE BEST TEACHER FOR THIS CLASS!!!

Dr. Crosthwaite is amazing! He cares about his students and does an excellent job teaching organic chemistry. This is a hard class of course, but he does a better job explaining it and helping you than any other professor teaching it. It's not impossible to understand or to make an A.

absolutley the best teacher i have ever had in my life. i have learned so much from him, and he is the most helpful person. he will sit down and help u as much as he can. also he has a great sense of humor, so classes are never boring. sometimes goes to fast, but that's fine, as long as you pay attention and have good notes you will pass. TAKE HIM!

To all the 2131 students complaining, quit your whining and try studying! If you studied as much as you whine then you'd all get A's. If you want an easy course take Business. If you want to pass organic chem listen,he's the best, and study!

He is kind of tough but he is a really nice old man who is always willing to talke time to help when a student needs it. He doiesn't usually like the book but will give problems that might be helpful in studyingl for the test. In general, his test are fair and he is a genius.

Yes Organic is HARD, but Crossthwaite is the BEST. Hilarious. He expects a lot but will always work with you and answer questions if he sees you're trying. Lectures can be confusing but if you're lost he doesn't mind stopping to go over something again and again if needed. Had him for the labs as well and hated them but not because of him.

Great organic teacher. He will teach you everything you need for the final (which is same all over country) if you plan to use the knowledge you learn later on, he'll give you everything you need!!! Extremely helpfull and cares how people do in his class. Ask questions! Great guy overall!

He is by far one of my favorite teachers! But don't take him unless your willing to work for your grade. Organic is no easy A, and he makes you think about what your doing. You CANNOT memorize the material in this class!! But if you want to really learn Organic then he's your man. Oh and you will start calling people "Bub's" and "Bubby".

Had him for ochem 1 & 2; made A's in both (LOTS of studying). Learned more from him than anyone i've ever taken. He's hilarious, incredibly helpfull, and sharp was a tack. After this guy, the national final was a breeze. DO NOT take anyone else at uncc for ochem. Take him for labs as well. Even though they're atrocious, he'll try to help you along.

he is the best professor. he wrote recommendation for my pharm.d school and i got into one of the nation`s best pharmacy school. man this guy is real genious. if you can find a mistake in his work then you are a real genious and after that he is all urs.

Great teacher, I barely used the text book because his notes were so clear. You do have to study A LOT though.

I like Dr. Crosthwaite, but I HATE the way he teaches organic chem! He's a brilliant old man who's willing to help you if you are really trying & going to class. But his lecture style is incredibly frustrating for me - he has little-to-no structure and doesn't follow the book - he's just all over the place & I need a more structured way to learn.

This is hands down the best teacher i have ever had in my life. He will be dearly missed and I feel extremely sorry for anyone having to take anyone other him for organic chemisty
