I have taken multiple classes with him. My favorite teacher at Normandale by far. He is very interesting and helpful. He actually tells you to get up and leave the class if he is still talking when class is done. He also has a son that is VERY HOT!

Makes public speaking fun. Cares about his student so much and is an extremely funny guy. Frankenfeld makes the class atmoshpere awesome which is important in an public speaking course. He is very fair in grading speeches and is a stickler for perfection. Just do your work as he expects and getting an A is very reasonable.

Somewhat hard on his public speaking students. You have to go visit him in his office for him to correct your speech before you give it. You will be rewarded if you stick it out to the bitter end. He purpousely makes his class harder at the beginning and kicks people out after 7 tardies to "weed out the weak" shall we say. Good at teaching.

Two words: Easy A. This is the most easiest class I have ever taken, without a doubt. VERY GOOD professor! I really enjoyed his lectures because their very straightfoward. All you have to do is READ THE NOTES! DO NOT miss a day of class! You NEED those notes for exams and quizzes. NO NOTES, NO A.

As I told him (I took the class in a condensed 10 day session), he showed that a 4 1/2 hour long class is really not as painful as I thought it would be, with the right teacher. Jim Frankenfeld is a unique instructor. I never missed a class and "wanted" to go to class everyday. You don't find that type of instructor very often at the CC level. Bravo.

Jim is an excellent teacher. If you take notes directly from the power point you will have everything you need. Group quizzes every class alows for a greater understanding of the subject. His final was a little tougher than it needed to be due to the length with many repetative questions.

I was dreading this class, but Jim made it fun. Fantastic teacher! To get an A, you MUST attend class. Everyone starts out w/20 professional points, and you lose 5 pts everytime you are late or miss class. You get 1 "excused" absence before it starts hurting your grade. There is no book, so attendance is important.

He loves what he does and truly cares about his students. Show up ONE TIME and get the work done, pay attention and take good notes and you will get an A. One of the best teachers ever! I hate English courses, I am a Math guy, but he made this class fun. He is very open-minded, if you can convince him your answer could be right, he will give you points for it. I can't say enough about Jim in the 350 character limit. Attend class and you'll do great! Lots of group work/discussion, great for extroverts. Lots of notes & doesn't post copies which is why attendance is so important. He cracks jokes and they're actually funny.

Took Public Speaking with Jim and was totally dreading it before meeting him. I ended up LOVING the class and him as a teacher! He motivates and gives extremely thought-out feedback. Taking another class with him now just because his teaching style is so great. Textbooks are always cheap and easy to read and in-class activities always useful.

JIm is an interesting Sarcastic teacher, but a tough grader. He will not go easy on you, i guess you can call him strict. If you want an a, read the directions carefully and ask alot of questions!

Jim is a great professor. I love his teaching style. No textbook but there are a few journals and two big assignments. He creates a great learning environment as well as allowing everybody's opinion to be heard. All overall, it is a fun class. Take it with him, if you want to truly learn about communication.

Unlike some of the other speech courses I've had to take, his class is all presentation based. There are some writing assignments, but the majority of your grade will come from actually giving speeches, thus you are encouraged to give better and better speeches rather than just reading about speaking.

Professor Frankenfeld is a very good teacher. I had him for Public Speaking 1101.22. We had a three hour long course on Wednesdays from 2:00pm to 4:50pm. I did not think that the class would be fun but he made the class a blast for all three of the hours. I highly recommend taking the class with him.

Made what I assumed would be another horribly boring comm class actually a lot of fun. His three hour class does go quick on most days as he integrates topics that are relevant and intriguing. Definitely the funnest class i've taken in all my years of school.

Easily my favorite professor from this semester. Professor Frankenfeld is more than a professor. Over the course of the semester he turned our class into something comparible to a family. I have never had such a fun time in a class! He's a genuine guy who gives great feedback, likes to tell jokes, and is a very approachable person.

Best teacher I've had at Normandale. I look forward to his class everyday. He has a good sense of humor and creates a community within the class. It's difficult to summarize Jim in 350 characters. He's incredibly invested in his students. I had him for public speaking and interpersonal and took away life-long lessons from both classes. He's clear from the beginning about requirements and provides wonderful feedback. Don't skip classes - attendance is mandatory! You won't regret taking him.

Jim's very good at his job, the assignments and speeches aren't difficult if you stay organized, and I've gotten over my public speaking fear. Coming in after he calls roll counts as absent, and if you skip too much he'll put your attendance points in the negatives, but you don't want to skip because the class is fun and you make a lot of friends.

Jim is a fabulous professor. He's one of the most caring and kind people I have ever met. If you want an A in class all you have to do is show up and prep for your speech the night before. If you have the opportunity to take a class with him, do it.

I took his public speaking class because I've always struggled with social anxiety. At first, the class was very tense but once I got used to it, it wasn't that bad. As long as you show up every day and turn in all your assignments on time, you'll do well in his class.

Best teacher I've had so far. Barely have HW, just easy open note quizzes. Very nice, actually cares about students, & always has dad jokes. However, he does grade attendance. Also, he's pretty strict on speech outlines, but those are easy to fix. Gives good feedback so you won't make the same mistake again. Also cried from many touching speeches

Take Jim! He is a strict grader but if you actually read and follow the rubric you'll be fine. This class just takes a lot of getting over yourself and just doing the work. Speeches are easy if you prep for them.

Jim is a good guy and a solid prof. He has clear class policies and his rubrics are straightforward. He was always willing to help if you asked for it and he responded to my emails very fast. He has very high expectations for students, but an A is definitely attainable. AIM FOR PERFECT ATTENDANCE!

If you wanna know what you have to worry about or pay close attention to, it would be that he is pretty picky on grading and will dock points for little things. Pretty homework heavy, but if you mess up it makes it easier to fix your grade. He grades on attendance so it'll either save your grade or tank it. He's personable and overall a good choice

Strict on speech outline, but pretty easy to fix your mistakes. If you go to his office hours with your speech outline, he'll explain to you exactly what to fix. He grades attendance so make sure you're there! Speeches aren't that hard, just put in the effort, and he gives LOTS of good feedback. Has lots of dad jokes and makes class fun.

Responsive professor, will 100% lay down expectations. He is absolutely hilarious and engaging in lectures. NEVER be late to his class though. Professionalism is taken very seriously in class. You will not pass if you are late or don't show up. Otherwise, this is an easy A.

Super fun guy to take a class with. Always had a great dad joke whenever you needed one. Attendance was mandatory and counted towards final grade. Notes were simple, lectures were engaging, and quizzes are taken as groups which makes them easier.

Frankenfeld's class requires discipline, but pays off if you engage with his system. Leverage tools like Unstuckstudy alongside the free textbook to excel. Attend diligently and you'll learn a lot.

Jim is the best! he is so nice and caring. he has a clear structure and it can feel restrictive, because it is. The structure is there to help you learn. If you participate in this class it will be the class you have ever taken.

amazing teacher. i would gladly retake him again. show up to class and listen to what hes saying and you'll pass the class. i didnt even study for the exams and got good grades. not to mention hes super funny which makes lectures fun to listen to.

Jim gives a lot of lectures but he's a funny guy and makes them interesting. Attendance is important as a lot of the material gone over in class shows up on the test, even jokes he makes will be on the tests sometimes. He can be a little blunt at times but overall is a respectable guy who makes class enjoyable, I highly recommend him.

Jim (He goes by Jim, not James Frankenfeld) is a great professor who teaches you how to deliver a speech. His lectures make it understandable and the speeches are very fun to give! At first, you might be nervous to take it, but having Jim brings more fun to the class. Definitely take him, if wanting to accomplish a public speaking class. :)
