Jim is an incredible teacher. I reccommend him to any student that is taking philosophy. He is an intelligent man with strong beliefs. He will challenge your thoughts and he will rock your personal beliefs. Engage him after class. He is so insightful. I enjoyed spending a few hours with classmates talking to him about life, ethics, morals, etc.

Incredibly self-absorbed and egotistical. Thinks he is a "professional philosopher" even though he is teaching introductory philosophy at a community colege. Does not approach philisophical issues with a philisophical nature - instead treats every matter of opinion as a matter of fact - and acts as if he's always right about everything. Avoid him.

I had his class for 106 and it was really easy. He gives you a review sheet of the exam questions that he will test you on next week. Not all of the questions though will be there, but some will. Granitto is an amazing philosophy professor. Get the book, he references it a lot. He bases class of powerpoints but brings the material into a general perspective that's easier to comprehend. Quizzes are easy. He gives you possible test questions a week prior to the test, review the answers and you'll be good. If you have the chance take his class

I took Phil-115 and Phil-118 with him. Both classes are fun and inspirational. Tests are all essay. So, be prepare to write. The study guide will be given one week prior to the tests, there are all class content that you will go over anyway. Quizzes are given unexpectly, which means skip class is a bad idea. BTW, I like his coffee cup!!!

Granito was an awesome professor! He's very clear and makes it super easy for his students to pass. There are 4 exams and 4 quizzes that are primarily lecture material so be sure to always go to class. He loves what he does and really cares for his students. Very entertaining also!

Between two years of classes at the 4 year level as well as what I took at SCC, I think Granitto is my favorite/best professor. I learned as much about myself taking this class as I did Philosophy, and he can talk to (basically) himself as a lecture for the entire class period, so we learned a lot. Go to office hours! Ask when quizzes are!

Jim is a great teacher, absolutely loved his class! He really explains the material very well and makes you think in different perspectives. He has no homework which is nice and the quizzes are easy and so are the exams you just really have to critically explain yourself and learn the material. It is very doable and an interesting class!

As someone who really struggles with writing, I had a really good experience with this one. Its a chill class where you just sit down, listen to him talk (which can be boring if you doze off bc of his monotone voice, but hes actually really great at making it interesting if you listen), and write about the topics. learned alot about life too!

Granitto, by far, has been the best professor I have ever come in contact with. His class was challenging in all the best ways... ie; challenging your worldview, your beliefs, why do you think the way you do, what shaped you, what are your passions? Although some content may contain rigor and requires reading, it is well worth it.

Don't see what everyone's going on about. Granitto is a terrible teacher who can barely explain concepts. Claims to have a "dark sense of humor" but is really just offensive and condescending towards students. Test and homework written very poorly. Class itself is ridiculously easy, anyone who's taken a high school English class will pass.

Great teacher! As long as you pay attention and take notes in class, as well as check definitions from the book, you will do fine. He is easily accessible, insightful, and willing to happily answer any questions. Just one note; he may say he won't do trick questions, but on his exams there are questions with just one little word changed so be aware

Honestly this class made me feel dumb. Professor was a good person and good teacher but maybe not for me. I did not get his sense of humor or his way of teaching. He does not give extra credit opportunities, and it is really easy to fail this class. He does not give any homework at all! Lectures were always cut short.

Professor Granitto is a great philosophy professor. Although he is very liberal, I respect him because of his logic and reasoning behind his lectures. HIs course can be challenging as you will have to write many essays and his exams can be difficult. Professor Granitto seems to care about his students if you let him know about your concerns.

I loved Prof Granitto, final grade is based off 4 quizzes (25 pts.) and 4 test (100 pts.). You are given the test questions a week before the test and then he chooses 3 questions where you answer 2. No homework in this class, just make sure you take notes. He is very approachable and will go over quizzes and tests with you. Take this class!!

Easily the best professor at SCC, 100% take his classes. 4 quizzes and 4 exams are the only assignments graded. All essay questions- no homework or required reading, but I would suggest you read before the lecture. He is not a hard grader per se, but you definitely need to work for an A. Very funny and insightful, the lectures are engaging.
