He is a great teacher! Be prepared to laugh, learn, and have fun. His classes are always full so try and register early!!! He makes you work in lab but it is always a fun experience (unless you don't study).

Jim is great, he makes sure that everyone understands before moving on. He supplements his class with humor and crazy visuals. He had me so interested in the class that I actually did the pig dissection! Bends over backwards to make sure eveyone does well by providing study sheets and powerpoints. He is the ONLY part of this class that I will miss.

jim is by far one of the best profs i had. he expects certain things out of his students, that they study the lab manual before class, but do wuts expected and itll all go well. he clearly explains everything if you dont get it from the reading and is very understanding if something comes up. now if only i could get him for Bio 200...

Absolutely clear about what will and will not be covered on practical exams. Goes out of his way to provide students with review questions and review sessions prior to exams. If you are new to biology, or to science, he makes all of the material very accessible and digestable. Highly recommend.

best lab instructor... explains things really well , his quizzes and lab practicals are crystal clear and as long as you study you will get a good grade. hes hilarious and plays music and even star trek or wars whatever it was during lab, youll be dissecting a pig while jamming out to bob marley! if you can TAKE HIM!

He's an awesome professor/ instructor. Coming from an A student in his lab it's definately posssible to ace bio lab. He takes time to make slides and sends them to you and makes review sheets for his exams and its on you as a student to study and utilize the text and his reviews and you are guarnteed an A. Very helpful! His slides and overview at every lab help so much for the practicals. Listen to what he says cause everything he says is to help you. Just watch out for the questions. Some can be a little tricky. Last note: very friendly(not in the way that dogs lack genes that make them beware lol)

Friendly, helpful, funny, and he explains hard material in a way that makes it easy to understand. Listen to what he says and study his slides and the lab manual and you will do fine on the practials. There will not be any questions that have not been covered, but read each question carefully.

He is always super helpful. Any questions i have are always answered in a manner that helps us understand. Creates slide shows that assist in studying....always helpful. Practicals are..well practical...if you study well you shouldnt have a problem. he tests how well you read the questions so slow down and make sure you read and understand it.

Although the class is hard as a whole, this instructor explains what exactly needs to be done before each experiment. He is understanding, helpful, and really knowledgeable. Jim is a king, a scholar and man with an incredible taste in tunes. His lectures are clear, he obviously has a mastery of the material and the lab equipment, and he is willing to share this information with you in a clear and concise way. Do not be put off by his sarcasm, he does it entirely out of love. Take Jim for lab, you will not regret it

He's a good lab instructor -explains clearly each protocol . Best part of lab were the funny videos (though he should have shown class "cat on slide." Would make for an interesting class). Worst part is he's a little intimidating, curses and makes fun of you if you're stupid .

Could make his demontrations of labs a little shorter in order to give students more time to complete them. The exit exam is the worst. Would be better if students just handed in the exit exam questions.

The best lab instructor. Took him last semester and again this semester. It's important to read before class because of the quizzes. He's entertaining so you're not going to be in a boring lab. He's totally fair. Classes can go by faster but it's okay.

Jim demonstrates all the steps you need to do for the lab so that youre not lost when you have to do it on your own. He actually WANTS us to do well. He's really funny and helpful. Only thing I didnt like was that Jim kept us in the lab for almost the whole 3 hours whereas my friend in another class finished the lab in an hour & got to leave early.

Jim is one of the most accommodating professor's I've had in Hunter. He goes through all concepts and ideas in the beginning of each lab, and gives students access to all of his slides. Have him for lab, he explains each lab very carefully (takes about 30min) so we finish our lab later than other classes. But he tries his best to explain what we are doing and what purposes it fulfills, makes ALOT of dad jokes. Can be hard on us if we on't do the experiment good which is reasonable since he explains it to us for 30min. Great guy!

When I first started taking this lab with Mr. Kominski, I was very nervous about my grade since the quizzes were on the harder side. However, he makes sure that everyone knows what they will be doing during the lab so things go as smoothly as possible. Overall, hes a great instructor and plays great music during class. Professor Kominski is very direct when it comes to grading his quizzes. Goes over the procedure which is helpful. He also has a good sense of humor.

It's not hard to do well in his class. Make sure that you are familiar with the lab procedure before you come to class come to class (it takes about 20 minutes of reading a week). The quizzes will test your knowledge, but they're fair. As long as you do that the rest is a breeze. He is pretty funny and engaging as a teacher.

The only true bearable part of BIO100. He is very caring and will genuinely go through every thing you need to know for labs/ quizzes/ exams. Labs can sometimes go for the full 3 hours, but definitely worth it.

BIO 100 is a very difficult course and taking lab with Jim makes the experience a bit easier. It's easy to get a good score if you read the labs beforehand and come on time to class because he goes over important concepts/ notes. Plus he's very funny and engaging!

The labs take up the whole class period (3 hours), but professor is funny and always willing to help. Quizzes every week are difficult, make sure to remember the temperatures and times in the procedure for each lab when studying for the quiz. One wrong on the quiz and it's a 80% (5 questions total). Otherwise, great class and great professor.

Professor Kominski makes this lab super engaging. He's always willing to help and ensures students understand the material. The labs can be time-consuming, but using resources like unstuck ai alongside the textbook and class demos really helps ace the quizzes. Definitely would take again!

Fun and interesting class just read the lab manual

Professor Jim is very clear on what is expected of you in the class . Very funny and keeps the class entertained . Very through in his teaching and explains all the content clearly .

He is funny, usually reviews goes over what will be on the quiz, is a very fair grader, you will enjoy the class every time you are in here. You are usually get to leave lab early as well.

Makes science fun! Jim is an amazing professor who makes labs fun, engaging and easy to understand. He is patient, supportive, and genuinely cares about student success.

Jim was probably the best lab instructor that i've had at Hunter, making every lab something to look forward to. He makes sure to give extra credit and opportunities on the quizzes. The main thing to be prepared for every lab before the quiz. You can tell he cares for the students. This has definitely set high standards for future lab instructors.

I enjoyed taking Jim as my bio 102 lab instructor, he explained the content clearly and always went into detail at the end of class to summarize the info we learned that day. The practical exams are challenging but u must study!!! At least 2 weeks in advance!

Jim is honestly the most easygoing, fun and insightful lab instructor I've had. He always tries to give extra credit and unlike many lab instructors for Bio 102 he usually goes over the lecture first and then gives us the quiz and honestly if you read the lab manual the quizzes are very straightforward.

Jim man he's the best! You need to take his class he loves what he's doing and explains things very nicely and wants to make sure that you know what you're learning.

Jim is by far the best professor and lecturer I've had the honor of learning from. He cares about his students deeply, he is highly motivating, extremely funny, and a great teacher. His approach to running biology lab is by far the most engaging and meaningful labs I've ever taken. Show up to class, participate, and it's impossible to fail.

The class is quiz and exam based, you have a quiz each week of lab, usually given at the beginning of lab, to prepare you have to study the chapter from the lab manual. Jim gives very simple questions usually based on identification and sometimes on function. I personally enjoyed him and found the lab easy to maintain an A, but I memorize easily.

He's a fun professor. As long as you study the lab manual you'll be fine.
