If you're bad at essay exams or don't have the greatest memorization skills, he isn't the teacher for you. And, each week you'll have to type up a one-page summary of the chapter you just read. He's a nice guy, but the course is rather boring and he doesn't do much to make it interesting.
Great teacher, really knows his stuff. Even if you don't understand the subject, McIntyre is exremely helpful, and really funny!! I had him at 8am and his class was a great way to start the day!
He was absolutely awesome! An excellent teacher!
i have taken this guy three times already and every time i have passed with an A and i hardly did any of the work he really helps you understand the material! awesome teacher!
class is rather easy. make sure you read & you should be okay. he gives power-point presentations and talks an awful lot (good if you love history). he tries involving movies but overall the class is still a little dry. be prepared to write essays!
not a great teacher, unorganized, dry humor, boring, unexciting, teaching techniques are poor.

he's ok. not too bad. he will talk the whole class, show a movie clip once a month maybe. it's a class for people who like to write essays every week. he's also pretty boring and it's good to get on his good side. he might have trouble being fair, I think. but overall he's an ok teacher who talks a lot. if u like listening and writing it's the perfect class to take.
easy class, homework once a week but easy, a one page discussion question from the chapter. Tests are a little on the difficult side. Nice man, will help you 100%, easy grader, take notes every day- the usual history class.
I absolutely HATE history, but McIntyre is a very good teacher. He talks a lot and there are a lot of notes to take, but it helps you a lot on tests. If you have trouble he is easy to talk to and very helpful.
I THINK THAT HE HAS A LITTLE PROBLEM BEING FAIR, BUT HES A GOOD TEACHER A LITTLE DIFFICULT AND BROING, CORNY JOKES
He is a good teacher. He talks a lot, the entire class. The tests are not that hard, they are mostly 20 questions and 2 essay questions. He gives you the essay questions a week before the test and will except early entries just to make sure you are answering the question right. Although this class is Super boring, he knows what he is doing and it i
Not a good teacher!! So boring
BORINGGGGGGG to the max!!!! Tests are confusing- not reccomended!
I thought this was an interesting class. He had some opinions on history that were different and gave good insight. Definitely do the reading.
He is so boring....and his tests are impossible. All he does is lecture and he thinks he's funny...but he definitely isn't. He's a nice guy and tends to take late assigments though. If you do your homework and do good on the essay parts of the test you'll pass.
Very good teacher, laid back, and gets involved in discussion. If you're looking for a history teacher to take, this is your guy.
He was a nice guy but a very boring lecturer. He also missed several classes and had another teacher fill in for him. He had too many writing assignments but tests were not that hard if you read the book and studied.
He does not know how to teach for**** and should be kicked out for good.
I thought he was great. He knows that some of what he's teaching isn't too exciting and does acknowledge that. That being said, he makes the best of the material he's teaching. Pretty funny, too. Also, if you are someone who will to go to class and not talk once, find another teacher's class to slack off in. Class participation is necessary here.
He was a horrible teacher He's Lectures were off the wall and were extremely boring His tests were hard he didnt prepare his students well
He knows a lot about history and that seems to be his passion. He is kinda boring but his assignments are easy..Tests are really hard though and it doesnt seem like any of his lecture's have anything to do with the tests.
Great teacher. Really loves history, and shares his passion well. Weekly discussion questions are fair and challenging assignments, and tests need to be studied for. As long as you pay attention and read the book, getting a decent grade should not be hard.
Nice guy and everything. Had him over the summer...lectures are boring, though he does mix things up sometimes in class....best part was watching clips of movies often times like Gladator, Braveheart, etc. Tests are kinda hard and hmwk are essay questions 4 u to answer in long paragraphs. Make sure you study everything for any success in his class.
Excellent teacher who speaks well and who keeps the class interesting with his knowledge and jokes. His assignments aren't hard, but his tests are (make sure you study for them if you want to pass). Class participation is also key to success. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this teacher.
Do not take this teacher. He refuses to give you a good grade on the essay portion of the tests, he does not make it clear what he wants you to write, he does not prepare students well at all for tests for quizzes. very unreasonable with the essays on the test.
He is pretty awsome. He helped me understand hisroty a lot, and i pretty muc hate it. Now I'm more interested in western civ than I have ever been. HE's smart, corny but funny, and a good guy. Very good teacher.
boring!!!!!!!!!!!
He's very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject, and his class was interesting. He does give weekly assignments, but they're not hard if you read the book and use your own judgment. He's understanding, and he'll work with you and help you if you need it. Overall, a nice guy and a good teacher.
I like this guy. His lectures are interesting and he doesn't just babble for the entire period. He makes the students think and be part of the discussion. And he has a sense of humor and is very understanding. Just do the assignments and read the book. The best history teacher I had. A must have for history buffs.
I absolutely hate U.S. history but the class with Mr. McIntyre was not bad at all. This is the best advise that I can give to anyone... Take this class over the summer!!! If you listen to class discussion and prepare a little for the tests you should be fine!! I strongly recommend this teacher!!!
This teacher talks quickly through concepts, so sometimes you can get lost on what is going on. But the class I took was a summer one, so there was a lot of material to cover in a short amount of time. I did have to read the book to do well on the tests and quizzes.
He's a nice guy, but he is not very clear on his lectures, and he's too picky on the essays for the tests. He takes points off the essays like crazy. he'll write good on an essay with one thing wrong and give u a 15/25 so yeah.
He knows his stuff thats for sure, but it's hard to understand everything he's lecturing about because he jumps around with the topic.
omg this class was a joke, i didnt do one assignment and he gives a ton and still pulled a very very high C, the tests are a joke, he gives you the answers in his reviews, highly recommend this class if theyre a lazy bum like me
i think he plays favorites. but i suppose he is a fair grader. his lectures are boring unless you're a huge history buff. jumps around but gets so into what hes teaching. funny, so the class can be enjoyable. i dont think i would reccomend him though.
Take him over the summer! Way better then regular semester! overall good teacher
very helpful teacher knows what he's talking about. Lots of homework, but easy grader. Test are easy if you have him preread your essays, he will pretty much tell you what to write for your test. Essays count as 60% of the test grade. Very Easy......
Awesome teacher, and he really knows his stuff! He made the class interesting, and he's one of the best teachers I ever had. TAKE HIM!
jim is the bomb! very funny man, always tries to keep the class alert especially in the early morn. work consists mainly of typed homework responses, not difficult at all. he'll also check your written work for a test & help you improve it. very entertaining class, and a new found love of american history! go jim!
hes very funny and helpful, but quizzes are really hard. tests are good because most of the points come from the essay portion which you prepare ahead of time. he's ok, you just have to study alot
Jim is a nice guy and can be laid back about late work if he favors you. However, his teaching technique is very confusing, and unless you are a history buff, it can be boring and overwhelming. He goes into crazy detail and expects his students to be as in love with history as he is. overall he is a good teacher, but again only for history lovers
VERRRY boring class..he lectures the whole time, he tries to be funny, but really, he isnt. He's way to obsessed with history. However, he is very helpful if you need help.
He's a really nice teacher. I absolutely hate History but he made it easy for me to do well in his class. The quizzes are kind of hard but there's only a couple. The tests are okay because he gives you the essay questions prior to the test so that you can practice! He's more than willing to check them over too! Very helpful teacher!
BLLAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH. I used to love American History I hated it after this class. I was doing really well ont he homework but just barely made it through the class. His tests are essays so be prepared
he goes by the chapters really fast. there is alot of information to cover. sometimes its a little overwhelming. he reviews before all the tests and quizes and he gives you the essay questions. he is very helpful if you ask him questions..interesting class.
his homework is fairly easy. u just have to answer essay questions but they arent hard & the answers r in the book u just have to look for it. the class is pretty boring, he lectures the whole time. he walks around way 2 much it hurts my eyes & he tries to tell jokes that arent funny. but overall the class is okay.
he lectures the whole class but it is so hard to understand what he is saying. like if he asks a question, i dont even understand what he is trying to ask. i wanted to participate more but i just didnt get it..? hes a nice guy but i just have trouble trying to comprehend what he is talking about.
He is a nice guy, but i really didn't like OR understand his teaching style. he lectures the whole time. he moves sooo fast through the chapters it was hard for me to understand.
Gives one essay a week, tests are 20 questions and 2 essays, kinda hard. He lectures the whole class time, take notes and try to understand what the dude wants to explain. Moves really fast with the material. A nice and funny guy =]
He is nice, but he goes very fast and jumps around so you can't follow his power point slides or take good notes. Be prepared to take tests on 5 chapters. Also his mutiple choice questions may be on something he only mentioned once.
Hes a really nice guy, i took the summer course and it wasn't too bad, he grades pretty easy on the essay part of the test. only 3 quizes and 3 tests, its good for a summer course, just really boring
Horrible, very hard, do not take this class
He is a nice person, but realy fast you would have to be a good listner.the homework is easy but the tests are based on what he says in class. He is the kind of person that that makes jokes and lols at then. but overall i did get a good grade.
Good teacher, you have to be able to fully follow along with him as he does tend to jump around. However he is very clear on the tests, essay are given beforehand, quizzes are 10 questions. You have to study, its not a blow off class, and he grades you on everything, gave weekly assignments which were short essay, write the full page =)
He is a very kind teacher that is willing to help you IF you ask for it. I struggle a lot in history, and he made the class very enjoyable. He tried to keep it liveley for a 8am class. His grading method is very fair, and he gives you plenty of point outside tests and quizzes. You just need to remember to do the assignments and youll be fine.
Very nice teacher, always in a great mood, do your homework (only 10 assignments!) and study the day before test and you will do great
one of best teacher at moraine valley very nice guy always jokes around always in good mood well 3 quizzes 3 exams and the 3rd exam is final exam easy class enjoy
Such a great teacher. I took his class and his very helpful. The material maybe boring sometimes but he tries his best to make it entertaining. His tests and easy and he gives you the answers right before the test is handed out. I enjoyed his class and he wanted everyone to succeed.
Take the class if you just need the credit, not if you're interested in history or a history major. An easy A as long as you do the assignments, he grades kinda subjectively so just mimic what he wants. Online section is terrible, he reuses old assignments so all the due dates are off and he won't respond quickly for it to be turned in on time.
He is probably the most unorganized, unhelpful teachers I have ever had in my 4 years of classes. Nothing in his online courses is accurate. There are always different due dates on assignments vs. the course calendar so you always have to ask which is correct. He takes forever to respond. Hell tell you GReat work! But give you a B with no reason
Mr. McIntyre is really unorganized and confusing, he has many date for different assign and his quiz's are really hard to pass the tests are basicaly papers better than nothing but hes reallllly unorganzied!!
Mr. McIntyre was a great teacher. He makes history really interesting and made me want to come to class everyday. Does not give out to much homework, gives you the essay questions before the test which really helped my test grades. He is a very fair grader and will help you as long as you ask. I would definitely recommend taking his class.
He doesn't take attendance, you have one homework assignment a week, and you don't have any projects or papers. You have three tests a semester but that includes midterm and final they are essay but he is an easy grader. Not a hard class at all and he doesn't treat you like you're 5.
I am not a fan of history but he made me really like history. he teaches in a way where he is telling a story and it's more than just dates and facts. you MUST listen or take notes on what he says in class to pass tests. that's what is on tests. 3 tests. one short easy hw assignment a week. tells you answers right before quizzes.
DO NOT TAKE HIS 3 WEEK CLASS. not organized! Instead of making up a lesson plan for this 3 week course, he literally took his assignments from his 4.5 month courses and is overloading assignments and quizzes and tests. U have a quiz and test every week! He stands and talks for the entire 3 hours! Extremely boring. 6 essay per week. Go elsewhere!
Online class is nice. You get a alot of time to work at own pace. He takes time to grade things and seems to never want to hand out a 100% no matter how good your work is, like he doesn't believe in them or something. Overall easy class, use the book for everything.
the biggest mistake in my entire life PERIOD.
I loved this teacher! He is amazing at teaching and is very funny! I am not a history person but I did really well! If you need help do not hesitate to ask him, he will be happy to help you! You just need to ask. If you send him your essays he will look at them for you. There is an assignment every week on blackboard but that is all. EASY!
Very unorganized, lectures are like watching grass grow very boring. Uses power points but they're useless to take notes off of. Only took this class to get credit. Makes grading mistakes and acts like the student did something wrong. takes forever to respond to emails. Never will take him again, and I advise you to stay away from his courses.
His classes may seriously seem long, but he's super helpful with the work and grades if you actually ask him for help. He cares about your grades, as long as you actually show that it matters to you. As for the assignments, there's one every week, but it helps your grade improve if you do good on them. He doesn't take long to email either.
The class wasn't too hard. Had one book review and a couple of weekly assignments. He reviewed before all the tests and quizes. His power points weren't very informative, and the lectures were pretty boring.
I absolutely hate how long his lectures are, he makes a 50 minute class feel like a 4 hour class. I took COL101 with him, worst decision ever, I can't imagine taking an actual class. He makes corny jokes that don't even pertain to anything that he's lecturing about and it just feels like a waste of time.
I didn't like this class at first, it bothered me that his lectures didn't help. You have to read the entire textbook in order to get a good grade. Discipline and motivation is a must for his class. If you don't read and study on your own you will be lost. Mr. M is very nice though even though he always makes corny jokes.
I loved McIntyre! He actually made me want to come to class, his humor is dark humor so it was great. Barely any homework, and he makes things easy to understand and absorb. He's great
Long boring lectures with notes that are useless. Expect a weekly assignment of a one page essay. Tests are two 1 page essays and multiple choice. Essay prompts are given early. Not to bad. Not specific at what he is looking for on the papers which makes them hard. Tough grader. Definitely need to work for your grade.
WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER TAKEN. tough/unfair grader Does not tell you what he expects Lectures/notes are BORING and useless
Super tough grader i used to recieve an A in all my classes, Not this one i finished with a C-. His tests are tough and i find his lectures boring and useless. I'D also rather watch grass grow then listen to his boring lectures. Would not take again! Beware!!! You must read to earn your Grade.
Classes are quick but tend to feel longer than they are. he likes to make corny jokes that he knows are bad. lightens the mood but doesn't make the lectures more interesting. few in class assignments, roughly 3 exams and few quizzes. attendance isn't mandatory, but if you don't go it makes tests harder. nice guy, carries around a hankercheif, decent
I took a 3 week course with Jim, he's very down to earth and has a good sense of humor that incorporated things we were learning about. The class was 3 hours long but he made it bearable, he really knows his stuff, and overall made the class fairly easy. Would definitely take him again.
Great teacher. He was very passionate about history and this showed in his enthusiastic lectures. Mr. McIntyre's class is basically a stand-up routine mixed with with history class. You have to do a chapter discussion question once a week, but the answers are in the book. He goes over the quiz/test multiple choice minutes before you take it, helped
History is a big thing for me, so I had no problem reading the text and writing all those papers. But if you don't like history and can't handle more than around 9 (direct one page) papers, then please do not take this class. Each quiz were easy points, and the Mid Term and the Final consisted of writing about five vocab words & 2 short essays
AMAZING PROFESSOR!! I've taken History 101, 102, 201, AND 202 with this professor, and he's amazing! His assignments are great, and you do use the textbook . He's really understanding, and his quizes and tests aren't bad. His quizes are 10 questions long and his tests are 20, plus two essay questions. And he posts the essay questions online!
If you read about history outside of class, you will not do well. He omits information on many events so the students are convinced events happened for the most obscene reasons. The highest grade he will give you on assignments is 95%, and if you write a detailed response he has trouble understanding it, while a 10 minute response will get an A
Youll need the text book. He's a great guy and teacher, and clearly very passionate about the subject. To pass this class, you need to study the test questions/terms available on his web page and use the text book, regardless of whether or not you attend the lectures. He's a good teacher and as long as you do your homework you can pass. Also funny.
NO EXTRA CREDIT. This kinda bothered me, because I always do the extra credit in my classes to secure my A. This is the only class I'm iffy about. Despite this, he's a good teacher. Knowledgeable, makes things fun and interesting, homework is easy you can p much copy out of the book. Tests have 2 short essays, lots of lecturing but not bad.
I had Prof. McIntyre for History 102 -- Fall 2017. It was a moderate amount of work, not overly difficult, and I learned A LOT. Prof. McIntyre is an excellent and very fair teacher. He is both extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the subject of History. I learned a lot from Prof. McIntyre, and would definitely take him again.
Amazing and funny lectures, though you have to know history in order to get his jokes.
I would say that he is good , I have a lot of difficulties through the semester and I would not take with him a gain because I really did not understand from him. I taught myself to pass the class
Hello everyone, i want to warn you to not take a class with this teacher. His very annoying and not understandable. Most of the time, he does not teach, he keeps laughing like a crazy man. He is the worst history teacher i ever took with. When he gives us a quizzess, he gives us a questions that are not rellated to the chapters we studied.
Decent teacher, and I did learn from the lectures. Most points were from quizzes, tests and weekly questions. Quiz and test questions were mostly odd specific questions and I struggled with studying because I didn't know how to and it stressed me out. Bonus though, he will proofread essay questions before the test to make sure they're correct.
Hes a really good choice. He makes the class exciting and i really enjoy learning the subject
Easy class if you put in the work. Be prepared to sit through lectures for the entirety of the class, every class. You will learn a lot, but you will not know how to study for the exam because it is not clear what will be on it. 2 essay questions are apart of each test, but he tell you what they are and will proofread them before for you.
I took this Professor for HIS201 and HIS101 in the same semester. He was extremely understanding and very funny. If you make an effort for your grade, he will recognize that and assist you in any way you need. If you miss an assignment, honesty and dialogue is your best route to redemption. Kind of a tough grader, but at least he gives feedback.
Hes a good professor and i really like history
Hes amazing! Best teacher at Moraine hands down. Hes funny and not a tough grader at all. Theres a lot of papers but who cares? Its school and an easy way to pass with an A. I was gonna take him for HIS 102 in the summer but it was full! Take him
Professor McIntyre is absolutely amazing at his job. He makes the lectures for the course content fun and engaging, cracking a few jokes here and there. Most of the course content is split between online discussions and in class assessments, but he gives you an opportunity to review your essays before submission for a grade. Overall, 10/10.
Prof. McIntyre was very organized and clear about his grading criteria. I took him for online 3 week western civ class and it was very clear and straight to the point. I would recommend him!
This professor was very hard to follow since he jumps from topic to topic almost instantly. He teaches as if we already know what he's talking about. The quizzes and tests are graded weirdly and there isn't many grades so it's hard to get your grade up. Test questions are also very random and not what you would typically study.
Professor McIntyre is the best! Had him for HIS102 and am a part of his club (The Historical Society). His grading system is kinda weird but once you get used to it, it's fine. A lot of one page papers but I find those fun and they're easy points; he'll proofread them too! (for the test ones anyhow). Great setup for the online class, funny, 12/10
Professor McIntyre is a really great professor! You can tell he is passionate about what he's teaching. The assignments are typically pretty easy and are based off the readings and lectures he provides. He also responds to emails quickly. If you email him he will provide helpful feedback on your work before you turn it in.
Super easy class if you like history. One homework assignment a week usually, and he provides the textbook on canvas. Okay lectures, and try's to make it fun/funny. One quiz per unit, and a 20 question test, with an essay portion that isn't too difficult. Definitely going to continue taking his courses.
Great professor. This class was so easy as long as you do the work. A lot of writing but is pretty easy and obvious. He is also understanding when you email him if you accidentally miss a deadline or something. Definitely recommend.
You need to know the material. We were given 1 discussion board question to answer every week. Just read the chapter and you will be fine. Including the final, we had 3 exams. Each exam you had to answer 2 essay question so for each exam we had to write 2 essays, also are graded by multiple questions. Overall great professor. He's nice. 10/10
The beginning of his class was a little hard to get used to, PLEASE READ THE SYLLABUS for specific directions on how to write out homework. He is easy to reach out to and answers back fast. You have to write many paragraphs and maybe 6-8 essays. Send those in for him to read over. If you struggle with writing then his class can be hard.
I did not get a good vibe off of him. His grading is outrageous man.. all discussions is out of 1 point and if you don't do them right you get like a .44 or whatever because Ill never understand his grading scale and it impacts your grade so much. If i took someone else, I would of got a A in the class... I regret taking him, don't recommend.
This class is not good for you if you're going to take him online
McIntyre's passion for history is definitely there. He makes lots of historical jokes that honestly don't land most of the time but whatever. Overall it's an easy class just boring. A few short, in-class writings, mostly lecture, quizzes and short essays for tests. He will review your work for feedback before the actual test so that's great.
Don't take him. History is my passion and this man refuses to grade in a way that makes any sort of logical sense. He will not give out 100s even if his comment on your post is "Perfect!" or "Incredible!". He will straight up just be INCORRECT in certain areas of history objectively as well. Wish I had more characters to go off on him more in this.
Professor McIntyre brings passion to the lectures, though some jokes fall flat. The class is manageable with short writings, quizzes, and essays. Use unstuckstudy and the free textbook to excel in this engaging history course.
Professor McIntyre is an outstanding professor! He is very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter. I remember taking his class a few years ago. I really enjoyed the class. I would highly recommend students to take his class!
Most assignments were essays or discussions and he would tell me I did great but still take off points for no reason?? He NEVER gives full points and literally told me I did great on one of my discussions but gave me a 90%??? I ended the class with a really high B (BASICALLY AN A) but he put the grade as a B and ignored my emails. I am so annoyed.
