There's a reason only 10% of the class shows up on any given day, and that's McNair.
Terrible Terrible Terrible, how does this guy keep his job? You won't learn a single thing if you've used microsoft word, excel, or access at any point in the last 2 years.
i was very confused by this man. he seems genuinely nice and excited about computers...but he droned on in circles, discouraging most students from attending class
Boring class, and he seems more like a high school teacher. He also goes over everything he teaches about 5 times per topic. I think he likes what he does (he's enthusiastic), but he has it tough as students are usually forced to take this class.
He explained 5times about how to install CDROM. I know the reason. I found CDROM do more than him.
This prof is very good at what he does even though what he is teaching is boring.
If you know how to use a computer this class is a free A on your transcript. Cool prof, but BORING lectures.
It's a struggle to stay awake during his lectures. He doesn't follow his slides or the textbook, he just mumbles on.

This is probably one of the most easiest course on campus but only one of the most boring..
So boring. So boring! No one goes to the lectures but then the exam is hard if you're not prepared. He's super nice though and he'll help you out if you ask.
Horrible class. Just 70 out of 600 students go to his class. Tough test. Quiz on text doesn't help us at all. McNair is a magician, rather than a prof. He's pretty good at confusing us and let us asleep!!!

This course is very boring and McNair can't do much about it. He has a dry sense of humour and I found him very funny. He's a great guy. GO TO CLASS!
Very boring. The 3 hour class seems like a marathon. It is easy stuff, but you do need to go to class to do well on the exams.
i went to half a class all year and got an 80 so I can't complain. Study hard for the exams though and make sure you do the training on the cd-rom otherwise you're screwed, because you're expected to be able to write out step by step advanced office xp
What do you expect from the man ... for most this is simply to complete the science credit. Rocks for jocks con'td ... listen closely and you'll hear funnies about them too! Quite enjoyable considering the restless chirps from 'students', thanks!
Easy course. He tried to pull a fast one on the midterm by making it half short answer - but curved the marks 15%. The opposite was the case on the final - it was easy, but the marks weren't as good. Find out when he teaches nontext stuff and go!

I really can't tell you what kind of prof he was since I fell asleep in EVERY SINGLE CLASS, even if I drank coffee before AND had coffee with me. Couldn't stand the course so I did badly.
I went to maybe 5 classes the entire semester and pulled off an 85, so take his course if you want to get a good mark, and go to about 10 classes to get a 90! 15 will probably guarantee you a 95. way to go froggy!

the frog man; he's a nice guy but can sure get testy at times and perhaps lose it. the class is super easy and interesting about .02% of the time. if you want an unneccesary challenge, try attending all of his classes. this is the type of guy that would be a **** like will farrell in old school
the material is dull but that isn't Jim's fault! He has a good sense of humor and is very helpful and wants his students to do well!

I managed to go to all of his classes and some how I'm still alive. However he never did reply the emails I sent him. Also, read the textbook. Reading it is key to passing since he doesn't discuss it in class and his slideshows aren't totally complete.
This was a great class to catch up on my sleep. He was an ok prof, and did seem to care, but could not keep the class exciting or interesting. The exams were difficult, and none of the information on the slide shows helped.
Oh man, i have never seen any prof get so little respect from his students. Talks at the class all day... so hard to stay awake! Need to read the text, but his written parts are way ez.
Really boring classes. Didnt' really know how to teach. I went to about half the classes and got a 90 because of the online quiz part of my mark. I only took it because I had to. But he is hilarious if you can stay awake!
Accused me of cheating on false grounds. Wouldn't even meet with me to discuss the situation. Watch out for this ****er.
Prof is a kind soul. But very dull and sleep-inducing is an understatement. Exams are hard if you do not have previous knowledge of computer programs. Exams consist of two parts, first multiple choice (easy part, learn from textbook, but txtbk is killer to read)and written part (greater part of exam, impossible). Online quizes boost grades up.

He was a jerk. Singled students out in class and refused to talk about the situation afterwards. Very immature and NON-PROFESSIONAL.
HWAT?! ok...yeah...He is NOT a jerk. By far the kindest prof. Yes...he is boring....yes he often mumbles so bad that you can't understand him - but that's no big deal. You DON'T need previous programming experience with him. If you don't have problems with logical exercises - you'll do great. (p.s. READ the text)
The class has over 300 people in it and you people are suprised that he doesnt make it an individual experience. He teaches what hes told to teach, only a good 3/4 of the class dont listen and just talk amongst themselves then cry when the exam bites them in the ass. Welcome to university.
I agree with the "Non-Professional" attitude. Easy are fairly easily if you know your stuff. If you're awake for a class (which is occasional) counts how many times he says "Ahmm, anyways..."
I find this prof. very entertaining at times and very knowledgeable. He is also approachable if you need help.
Don't go to class, its a waste of time.......this man is more dull then watching paint dry, but you can still get a very good mark.

i went to about 3 classes all year. 2 at the beginning of the year, and one near the final exam time. the lecture room was absolutely packed the first two classes, but then i found myself with maybe 20 students the last class i went, half of which were asleep a good 40 of the 50 minutes he was "ummmmmmmm"ing.

Why didn't weren't pillows attached to the chairs in the classroom while he lectured (rather he gave his own version of what a computer manual would sound like if it talked).
He explains thing very well, but things tend to get quite repetitive... Comp sci 032 is an easy class to teach to yourself *just read the textbook*. At exam time, he helps you out a lot by putting all the class notes, examples, sample exams, etc... on the class webpage. Go to class only to do the clickers/worksheets.. they actually help too!
BORING PROF! Will literally put you to sleep. Regardless, his notes are great! Plus, he does lots of review before exams, and is extremely willing to help out when you ask him. Friendly and approachable prof.
What an aweful prof! Don't bother going to class, just make sure you do the assignments, memorize the AIS text and understand the slides. If you insist on attending his BORING BORING BORING lectures, don't be surprised to be soon calling it "nap time". He may seem nice in class but he hates people who ask for help.
not going to lie, he's such a boring prof. will put anyone to sleep. makes you want to re-evaluate your life haha. really easy class if you do the examples before the exams. AIS book is retarded. no need to buy either book, take my word, save your money. and you dont need a clicker (unless you want to go to class)
A lot of poeple are syaing not to go to class, but from my experience, you should go to class...but only once a week. Moves at a very slow pace, so if you go once a week it's the same same as going to any other class 3 times a week. if you're having trouble staying awake, watch how he shrugs his shoulders and how funny it is.
such a boring class but insanely easy. the material is so easy and McNair is a decent prof, but yes very boring.
I think Prof. McNair was a great easy going prof.
Don't understand why they still let him teach. Maybe it's because the people that rate profs couldn't even stand to sit through an hour of his teaching.
