an easy A if u go to class on important days. its not totally boring and he drops a few test scores and homework scores here and there, thus making passing a breeze. he talks about his kid sometimes and his running which isnt totally lame so take the class! he never took attendance. and he's cute for not being really young.

Ryan really explains this type of Math, his online notes are great. He drops some tests and is totally fair. If you choose Math 45 you have to take Ryan! I ended up with a B after I failed this class with another prof.

He is a really good teacher, all tests are 20 problems as well as homework. there are 8 homeworks the whole semester and 4 tests. Attendence is recommended since you only meet twice a week but not a necessity. Really, Really easy and fun class.

If you're a student that is looking for an EASY math class then Ryan's Math 45 class is for you. You basically don't even need to buy a textbook because all his notes for the whole semester are on blackboard. He's hilarious and one of the most entertaining classes to be in. His FINALS are easy and it could only help you do better.EASY A if you try

This class was super easy. I'd definitely recommend taking it. I didn't have to buy a book, and he uses iclickers, so if you don't want to go to class, just have someone click you in. He posts all his power points online, and you don't have to take the final if you do well on all the tests.

i mean math 45 isnt the most fun class but he makes it fun. He makes you laugh and he make sure you understand whats going on. i would recommend this professor to anyone that is going to take math 45

I had this professor in my first year at the university and he honestly makes learning math fun and exciting. I have always been good at math so I learned everything quickly and it came easy to me. Since I learned things quickly attending class was a rare thing. You do though need to go for clicker points. It is in total an enjoyable fun class.

Hands down one of the best and most helpful professors on campus. He tries so hard to help his students do well so if you fail you must just never come to class. Subject is different and definitely can be confusing but he makes it easy and he's funny so it helps too!

Ryan conducts his class to where it's very easy to get an A. However, if you do struggle with math than you will have to work a little harder. Hey was a very good teacher! So far that has been my favorite math class. I always went to class because I found it interesting and not boring. If you want to get a good grade and do well on the test you have to attend class because that's the only time he will explain how to do it. Participation counts a lot in your final grade too.

YOU MUST GO TO CLASS! if you go to class you will easily get an A if you don't you will get lost. I don't think I'm the best student but i got an A in his class. I missed it once n was extremely lost its not normal math it gets very complex but as long as you listen you'll understand. He makes it fun!

GO to class though, he has clicker points and that plays a big part in your grade. One page of handwritten notes on tests and it is almost impossible not to pass his class! Ryan is super sarcastic and constantly mentions that he couldn't care less about his students and their feelings. However, he gets the job done. Go to class, use your iClicker, and do the homework. Honestly I don't know how people don't pass this class. No textbook but you do have to buy MyMathLab. Tests are easy-they averaged about 12 questions.

This professor is AWESOME!! His class is really easy and the homework and quiz are done online. Textbook is not necessary but attendance is mandatory. Always bring your iclicker to class because your participation points counts through just clicking your iclicker. He is a very funny guy by the way. I would recommend you taking his class.

Teaches material very well. For people struggling with math he helps and for people that don't struggle it is a very easy course. Class is large so not much independent help but he promotes using people in the class for help. Seems nice.

Highly recommend Ryan for Math45. He is a great teacher and truly wants his students to do well. Attendance is mandatory but if you show up to class and do the homework you'll easily get an A. Homework is online and he even encourages you to work with a partner. 4 exams and 1 final. He lets you drop your lowest one/opt out of the final.

If you attend class and pay attention the class should be really easy. The class consists of 4 tests and a final. The final however is not mandatory if you are satisfied with your grade. He drops lowest test score. If you do not take the final that is the score that is dropped. Ryan is honestly the best Math 45 Professor at Fresno State.

Seriously the best math class I have ever taken. He does take attendance with clickers so show up to class! He doesn't really help too much in person other than explaining during lecture. Most of the learning is through his clear lectures or his "buddy system"- a cool way of making friends and getting through class. Do not use phones.

After taking this class with a different professor and failing it I hated math. However, after taking this class with Pro. Ryan I started to take an interest in the class. He provides power points so the book wasn't needed as much. Interacts well with the students and if you pass the first 4 Exams you don't have to take the final. PRO: he helps out on the homework. Jim Ryan is an awesome professor. He teaches you exactly what you need to learn to excel on the exams. He lets you use a page of notes for the exams. Is an easy class to pass so their is no exude in failing.

Great professor. Uses the iClicker and that's really the only negative about the class. Very easy to skip and very easy to understand powerpoints posted if a lecture is missed. This guy is hilarious. Never a dull moment in his lecture. He even played Tool in class.

Super fun guy and is very clear. Hated math until this class. He makes it interesting and applicable to life. Attendance is mandatory (and his lecture helps a lot) and make sure you don't procrastinate the homework. It's easy points and easily forgotten since its online.

I hate math with a passion, but ryan made math seem somewhat easy. Some concepts were difficult, but if you ask your classmates (which he practically mentions you should do everyday) or ask him during office hours, he'll help. Took this class so i could take chem(couldn't get into anything else). Im naturally good at math, and I thought he made this whole course a piece of cake. This class was really easy and Jim Ryan may possibly be my favorite professor at State. He really pushes the "new-found math friends" to do your work with, and it really does help. You use iClickers for attendance and extra points and he does everything he can to make sure you pass. Overall it's an easy class and I actually looked forward to going!

I am absolutely awful at math. Professor Ryan is the only instructor I've ever had that made everything understable. He always makes class interesting and interactive. Just don't skip class and don't get have your phone out during class and you'll do fine.

recommend he is a funny teacher and explains the chapters in a way you can understand even if your not good at math. suggest you work in groups to study much easier for quizzes and more prepared for tests. I had Professor Ryan at Clovis Community & I really enjoyed his class. He has a sense of humor & doesn't just have boring lectures like a lot of professors. Go to class, take notes, & do the homework (which isn't mandatory) & you will be fine. The students who struggle are the ones that miss class or don't take notes.

Professor Ryan is like the Bill Nye of math. He makes lectures fun and interesting, and math actually understandable. 10/10 A+ would take again.

Definitely the best math teacher on campus. He's always making us laugh and he makes his lectures easy to understand. He's always there for help but he recommends you ask your "friends" first before going to him. Online homework with quizzes which are easy & he gives so much time to do them. 4 exams and final is optional (depends). Would recommend.

Professor Ryan is a great instructor. What makes this class hard i if you don't show. He's clear with all of his instructions and will help out with any HW question you have trouble on.

Math definitely is not my strongest subject but Ryan made the work seem so easy and explained everything so well. He is for sure the best math instructor I've ever had and I'm looking forward to having him again for Math45. He prepared you well for exams and the homework was easy. He is a good teacher. The tests are really easy, he lets you use 2 big notecards for the test and if you do good on all the exams then the final is optional. All the homework is online.

This is by far the definition of a college professor. I took Ryan's 8am math 103 class and it was a dread to wake up that early but I personally work better in the morning. The exams are easy as long as you do the study guide and right good notes for the exam. Just show up to class, do the homework, and study and you'll pass this class.

The lectures fun and worthwhile to show up. He takes attendance with the iClickers (which are about $20). He has all the lectures posted on Blackboard. Hw and quizzes are done online through Mymathlab (costs about $95). Tests are taken in the testing center. Before each test, he will hold a practice test in class to prep you for the exam.

super easy math class to fullfil ge req. as long as you pay attention and do homework tests are a breeze. hw is online and easy. literally got 100% and 95 on tests (never did that well in math). pretty much basic math. drops lowest test score, adds 10% to hw score. really wants everyone to pass :D

Ryan is one of the best math professors I have ever had! Math is one of my toughest subjects but he explains everything so well. The study guides are very similar to the tests, so I recommend doing them. Overall, great teacher!

I took 2 of his classes, math 4R and math 45 and I hate math, but he made it a lot easier and easy to understand. I sat in the very front row in both classes and he is really cool and funny! It would really hard not to pass his class.

Funniest guy you'll ever meet. Math 45 is a WEIRD class, but he makes it so much fun. You will crack a laugh with this guy in your class, I GUARANTEE IT. Do your homework WITH A FRIEND. It will help SO MUCH. Study for the exams, and you'll pass this class easily. Clickers ARE needed for attendance, so don't be a slump. TAKE HIM!

Fun class and fun teacher. Attend class; attendance matters and he goes over how to do the homework. Exams were just like the practice exams and allows one page of notes (back/front), and no pop quizzes. Online homework/tests for chapters. If you get an A (90.0%) in the class (540 out of 600 pts.) you don't have to take the final. Would take again!

He makes lectures interesting and explains the material really well, I found myself actually enjoying the class and I HATE math. You get homework on mymathlab but it's easy and you have plenty of time to do it. Clicker points are important. There's 4 exams but they're similar to the practice exams so just go to review. Mr. Ryan is absolutely amazing! You get homework for every class on mymathlab but it is exactly what was gone over in class. There are 4 exams with one final and he drops the lowest. I honestly learned from this class and he made it easy!

By far the best class I've taken, Ryan is hilarious and makes his class fun by telling stories or making jokes. It's math so who would want to be there? He makes it bearable. You don't need a textbook but you need a mymathlab code. Make sure to go to class if you're not all that great at math because the tests are based off lectures and homework.

Ryan uses iClickers (easy points) for attendance/participation. Online hw/quizzes due before each exam. 4 Exams & 1 Final (optional) - 2 Exams online & 2 in-class. Allows 1 pg notes for exams. I suggest going to lectures because you'll need the notes & he helps explain things better, but I self-taught myself with the hw/quizzes so that's fine, too.

Great teacher, Very straight forward. The tests are short and he allows notes. If you pay attention in class and do the homework, you're almost guaranteed an A. He is a funny guy, which makes lectures more enjoyable. I highly recommend him, for someone (like me) who isn't the best at math. Willing to help anyone.

If you didn't purchase the textbook, you will have to pay close attention and take good notes. He is very straight forward what need to be done, lectures are good, his tests are the same as his lecture/ mymathlab. Do the work, then you will pass.

Ryan is a great professor and super hilarious. Be sure to buy the online codes for Pearson, thats the only way to complete homework. Attendence is added to your grade so be there as much as possible. Quizzes and tests are pretty easy if you come to lectures and do homework.

Wonderful, hilarious and straightforward professor you'll ever have at FS. Makes math fun and easy, he also tells funny jokes and stories about his experiences. 5 tests in total and the lowest one is dropped. Clicker is required for questions and attendance. Math is all done on my Math Lab. Take him for Math 45 you won't regret it!

Makes math look easier than it is. Explains super well. Book is not required. Attend every lecture, he takes roll with iclickers and the points added up are worth points. Worth part of your grade. Homework assigned online mymathlab, gives you plenty of time before it's due. Half the exams are take home and half are in lecture.

Prof. Ryan is very straight-forward and the material is easy to understand. There are two in class exams and two exams that are taken online. Attendance is mandatory in order to receive your i-clicker points. Gives plenty of time to do your homework. Highly recommend taking him for math 45!

Easy math class Attendance isn't necessary, yet you miss out on participation points. You need mymathlab & a clicker There is 2 tests that you take inside the class and the other two you can take it at home and with a friend. The final is inside the class and he also gives you the option to take it or not.

Makes math easy to understand and can understand math again. I use to get a C close to a D in high school now I get a A & B his class.

He is the best teacher at Fresno State. Nuff' said. Do all your homework and get descent grades of your 3 online quizzes and 1 in class quiz and you won't have to take the final.

Mr. Ryan is a very practical math professor. He's perfect if you'd prefer to learn by examples rather than by theory. His grading is lenient. We had many quizzes and tests that were reflective of the materials covered. He goes over the materials quite quickly, so ask for clarifications when needed. He helps me to make my grades great again.

Professor Ryan is one of the best professors at Fresno State. His lectures were always interesting as he kept us engaged by group discussions or by him saying jokes throughout his lectures. He really made some concepts quite easy to understand. His tests were quite easy as long as you get a study partner. Would definitely recommend him.

Mr. Ryan has an amazing personality and is a really good teacher. There was barely any homework (only 4, which were due before each test). He drops one quiz and one test, so if you were satisfied with the grade you had, you could skip the final. I definitely recommend him for anyone and everyone.

He was really good teacher. I had the lecture combined with lab and lab was ok but the class itself was better. He was funny. Participation matters because he does the iclicker. Also , just do the hw and quizzes on time and if you understand the subject, which was pretty easy, you'll definitely get an A. Plus he drops the worst test score, so yay.

His lectures are very entertaining, he always includes some humor into his lectures. As far as the curriculum, he does a good job of explaining the math precisely and goes step by step of a problem. I definitely recommend taking this professor.

Mr. Ryan is an amazing instructor when it comes to understanding what the students need and how he can be fair when grading us. Of course, we got to put in some work in order to pass, so don't skip any homework because you feel like it. Take this class if you hate regular math, this is the first time I actually enjoy and respect math.

Prof Ryan has earned the respect he deserves. Don't use your phone in class, seriously, and for the love of God don't pack up early. He gives a great lecture on interest rates that you won't want to miss. The homework is pretty easy since it's online. Two online tests. Didn't need to study much, but the lectures do help.

Math is one of the hardest subjects for me and being in Professor Ryan class has taught me a lot about math. Also, I was able to pass with an A. This class is very easy. If you show up to class, take notes, do your homework, and study then you should be fine. Please don't take out your phone during class or pack up early. Be respectful.

He's a bit of a character but well respected. He will ensure you understand what he is lecturing and make it easier on you when it comes closer to test time. DO NOT GET HIM MAD BY ANY MEANS THOUGH. He's one of those nice guys that is always smiling but when mad he is scary.

I loved this professor! Im really sad that hes retiring this year. This is the only math class Ive ever gotten an A in because of what a good teacher he is. Hes a really nice guy as well and the class really respects him.

Mr. Ryan is an awesome Algebra teacher. I never put effort into my math classes during high school. Although having to start back at Algebra 1 and work my way up, Jim Ryan made starting math again fun and interesting. He teaches the WHY behind the numbers, not just the "how"!

He makes me love and be confident about math again!
