Goodluck he gives lots of homework.. and you can't just sit there you have to actually participate or you're screwed..

He's a great professor. He does give a lot of homework but as long as you pay attention & read you will be fine. He even lets you repeat tests a # of times. Only very lazy people will fail his class.

Be prepared to work!!! There is lots of homework. As for quizzes, you can take them as many times as it takes to pass it. And The quizzes are the exact page off the unit test. You cant go wrong with that. You will get an A as long as you are not lazy

Confusing for the first couple of weeks, but then you will get the hang of it. a lot of homework every week, but quizzes & tests are easy. You need to put A LOT of effort in this class to earn an A, hes a good teacher and you'll learn a lot.

Extremely energetic. He make a boring subject interesting. There are so many ways to earn points to pass his class. You can participate in class, take a field trip, or even watch a movie about what you are studying. He gives you your choice. He teaches like he is performing a show. He has props and everything. Not the traditional boring class.

I'm currently taking Mr. Stanbery's class for summer school and he isn't too bad. It is true what they say about him , he is very energetic and very enthusiastic. Lots of opportunities to get points. Very weird man. His teaching method is wierd but it works. you don't learn too much. the homework isn't based on what you are learning but it's based on highlighting a chart the right colors. You have to show up for class to pass but you can retake the quizes until you pass. He's easy but you have to put up with a lot and don't get much out of it.

I took this class, and I actually liked the class a lot. The only way to pass the chapter tests is if you read. You don't read you don't pass. You have blue book tests that are based off the lectures. He gives the topic ahead of time, look over it. Make SURE you participate. It's really important to do so, and make sure you show up for class also.

Best teacher I ever had and ever will have. If you want to take a class just for the units and a good grade, I highly recommend NOT taking his classes. But if you think you have something great inside of you and you just need someone to push you to stop being lazy, than I highly highly recommend this teacher.

The most passionate teacher i've ever had. Thought me not only what he had to but also other things. Very intelligent!

Prof. Stanbery gave out a lot of homework everyweek, at least 6-8 hrs worth. If you fall behind, you should consider dropping the class. He had this thing called rows and boxes where he made you to attend trips to the museums, get perfect attendance, good participation, memorize the dec. of independence, etc to get an A.

I REALLY LIKED THE CLASS. HE DID GIVE OUT A LOT OF HOMEWORK AND WAS TIME CONSUMING. I SPEND A LOT MORE TIME IN HIS CLASS THAN MY OTHER TWO CLASSES. I DO RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER.

Excellent teacher and class, yet time consuming, though worth it becasue you actually learn the material and not just memorize it. I will recomend this class with this teacher, becasue even though their is a lot of work and its so what time consuming you do learn about politics and how they work and affect you.

Professor Stanbery is an excellent teacher. He is very passionate and shows enthusiasm every day. If you want to learn everything there is to know about history you need to take this class. If you are not ready to do the work...don't even think about taking this class. Great Teacher!!!

Fairly difficult class, Only take this class if you are organized and driven.

Very excellent professor, his class is set up so that you cannot fail. He will always listen to you, make exemptions, fill you in on information or any questions you have as long as you do your part as a student.

I am not sure what everyone here is talking about. Mr. Stanbery is an excellent teacher. He always helps. Tons of extra credit. He responds to email more promptly than any other professor I've known. The course material is EASY, you just have to stay on top of the work. Do it ASAP and you'll get an A. Do all work in beginning and end is easy!

Mr. Stanbery is kind, and passionate about teaching his students. He is active in politics himself and loves teaching even remedial stuff like polysci 1 to anyone who will try to learn. GO to the study groups do the extra credit. He breaks the material down into kindergarden type stuff with visual props! Hilarious. But you have to go to class!

You will NOT be bored in this class! Very entertaining & passionate. Is willing to work with you during office hours if you're unclear about something. I was not at all interested in History prior to this class, now I'm a history buff. I took him in the fall of 2000 & I still remember what I learned. Be willing to show up and participate!

Insane but GREAT Hw:Listen to 45 min cds and complete pre made notesheets. Quizes: Are very simple as long as you completed his notesheets and listen to the review. Qizzes are done every day when a ws is due. Tests:Same exact quizzes stapled together. Many ways of earning extra credit. ALWAYS willing to work with you.

His Home work is difficult and his quiz process is difficuilt but he gives alot of stars and bonuses.

GREAT TEARCHER!!! He is a little crazy but you will leran a lot from him. He is very helpfuld and wants all of his students to succeed. Very flexible and works with your schedule. It IS college so will have to work a little.

He is very passionate, and may seem a little crazy at times. I would recommend him only to people who are willing to spend a lot of time outside of class doing homework and studying. I had no interest in taking this class, but I learned a lot. I gave a lot of effort, and earned an A.

I took classes at Harbor Community College from this man in the early 1970s. He made you work very hard BECAUSE her cared that you learn. I have always remembered him as an exceptionally good instructor and felt lucky that I had fallen into his class. After I took one class, I follow up taking every class he was offering.

As a Conservative in 1977 you might think I had issues with this instructor, but I also had great respect he was excellent

Cheap book. The homework is easy. Just listen to a cd & fill in the answers. You can literally give yourself points. Every weird structure for attendance and points. He's funny and easy to approach for any reason. He adds anyone who shows up even if he's over the amount allowed. RECOMMEND TAKING THIS PROFESSOR.

Mr. Stanbery is the most passionate professor I have ever met. I actually learned many useful things. All those students complaining about the class are usually the ones the don't succeed. Just pay attention and do the work people.

I have never met a professor as engaged and passionate as Jim Stanbery. I was so moved by his commitment to this course that I felt guilty if I didn't succeed. There is a lot of work and you must be dedicated, but with his enthusiasm and charisma, it's difficult to not enjoy this course. I feel every student at LAHC should take Stanberry.

Stanbery's class requires a lot of work. He gives you tapes of lectures and that's how you complete your assignments. It's not that his class is hard, it just requires a lot of work. I passed with an A but I had to work for it. I did end up learning a lot but once again, that's due to all the assignments that must be completed.

Just do the work. Thats it. The book is cheap, you take retake the quizzes over and over. The recording is long but the information sinks in. Allot of group project so make sure to pick a good group and just go to class. You will learn.

Can be a bit loud in class, a lot of homework, treats you like a little kid that doesn't know how to use highlighters. Material's pretty basic stuff you learned in high school. One huge annoying project, and a lot of group work.

This class is easy to pass, not because he's sparse on work (because he isn't), but he makes instructions very clear infact there are more than enough points avaliable for you to pass the class. I came into this class dreading poltics, but you can tell that he's very passionate and that passes onto you. Thank you Stanbery!

HW is derived from CD's that are about 30-50 mins long.I would recommend excessive note taking and ask ?'s in class because he encourages participation.I learned & retained so much information from this class and I'm thankful that I took it. This course was a lot of work & if you're not willing to put in the time then I wouldn't recommend.

There is no textbook for this class. Instead it is a workbook created by him, it includes your homework assignments. The concept of this course is difficult. The homework and assignments are to help you understand this difficult and charged subject. Keep emotions out of your learning and you should do well. The projects can take hours to complete.

Lot's of hand holding in this class, if that's what your thing. Four projects covering four sections, and you better be thorough. Exams are easy if you do the necessary steps. Not hard to pass at all.

Jim Stanbery was the best professor I've had through four different colleges. His telling me to believe in and love myself changed my life. His CD lectures are genius. The packets are superb, designed to convince the most jaded kids that politics matters. I learned to write in those packets. Thank you, Jim. I grew up because of you.

If and only if, you're serious about the United States government, should you take this class. The work load is consistent throughout the entire semester, but you will learn something about Political Science with this professor.

This was an intense course. There were time consuming projects that used outdated CDs and a lot of quizzes so you have to understand that youre going to WORK for your grade. He definitely prepares you for his Final though. That being said, his lectures have stayed with me and he taught me so much about political science that Im grateful for that
