Jim hasn't been teaching long but you wouldn't know it. He actually teaches concepts, explains how to get the answer to a problem, and checks that studnets understand. The bad thing is he uses mymathlab. Alot of prof use it at FCC. Highly recommend him.

Took Mr. Yang's class in the spring semester. He is very helpful and tries his best to explain as best as he can. I would take his class again!!

If it was not for Mr. Yang, I would not have passed math 103. Math is a tough subject for most students, and he is one of those professors that makes sure you understand and is as helpful as he could be. The BEST FCC has to offer. He's slow and thorough. Shy, but funny, & a super mellow guy. He takes his time to explain the work and wants to make sure you understand before he moves on. If you need extra help, he has office hours. He offers extra credit and will work with you if you need to be absent, even on a test day. Stay Calm and take Jim Yang.

Jim Yang has to be one of the greatest math teachers at FCC. Not only does he make the content easy to understand, but he goes over the content enough for anyone to get the hang of the subject. Overall, I would definitely take his class again if I were to get the chance.

He was a very good professor and he helped explain things very thoroughly. I enjoyed his class and really learned a lot. You will need to buy a calculator for the class but every class needs that.

I took his Math 11 class twice because he was that good of a professor and because I failed the first time (my fault not his). He will answer any question you have but he sometimes feeds you the wrong info. If that is the case however, he'll fix his mistake and it won't negatively affect you.

Math is my worst subject but Mr. Yang is awesome! He is always willing to answer questions and is super approachable. Homework via My Math Lab was annoying but the points helped my grade. He drops your lowest exam score which bumped me up to a B! Couldn't be happier. Great class!

Honestly, he is probably the best math teacher in Fresno City. He gives small extra credit to improve exam grades. His homework & class work are nearly identical to the exams. He allows half a page or sometimes a full page of notes and sometimes has handouts to use on the exams. Plus, he's really kind and understanding. Favorite math teacher.

Professor Yang has been amazing through this semester. He is easy going and very knowledgeable. His lectures are very detailed and easy to retain. He also allows one cheat sheet per exams which consists ONLY of formulas. He will accept all students who are waitlisted or trying to add; however, must not miss first day of class. Good luck!

Great Statistics teacher. Although stats was not a major course in my college plan, I learned a lot and have caught myself using statistics outside of the class. He is a terrific teacher and knows his subject well.

Mr. Yang has yet to be the bet Math teacher I've ever had! He's so nice and caring about your grades. I didn't need help from tutoring for the first time because he explains everything so well. I highly recommend him and look forward taking him again! Just show up to class and you will pass as well.

Pretty much what the reviews say are true. My recommendations, take good notes of the TI-84 usage/calculations steps because that will really help you when doing homework or exam. Not a lot of students dropped out of the course so that says a lot about Mr. Yang's teaching skills. I highly recommend taking him.

Math 4a Trig, lectures straight forward. Provides examples, understanding so talk to him. Helpful, though you still need to put your part of the work in it. Do your hw and stay up to date on the stuff. Would take again.

Mr. Yang is an awesome teacher. He pretty much add anyone, not like some others. He does do attandance. Exam are multiple choice & word problem. Study guide is similar to exam. Study and you'll do fine.

Great Stat professor. He'll go through every little details with you just to make sure you understand the problem. Exams are similar to his study guide. He also offers either a half or whole page front and back for notes without formulas. Very lenient towards his students.

Mr Yang was a really good teacher I took him over Summer break for the 6 week summer session. He makes stats really easy to understand for anyone, Im normally bad at math but he taught it easy for me to really get it.

I failed math 103 my 1st time, earned a B 2nd time. So I REALLY suck at math. I have gotten an A on every test so far and theres only 2 left and he will drop the lowest score. the final is NOT comprehensive, it is just like a regular test. He teaches really well and I'm in a very large class but he takes time to make sure EVERYONE gets it! TAKE HIM

Professor Yang is really good at what he does! He takes time to explain the subject and makes it so everyone can understand. I definitely recommend taking his class. Math has never been my strong suite but even through my pregnancy and full time work I was able to get through with a B.

I have always REALLY SUCKED & struggled with math until taking stats with Yang. He has incredibly helpful lectures, provides a study guide before tests, & allows cheat sheets. He is super adorable and very helpful to students who need it as well. Overall, great professor! I didn't even have to take the final because I did so well on my tests prior!

Saying that he's amazing is an understatement. I looked forward to his class every night. All tests are multiple choice, and he's clear about what he is looking for. The final is optional. I took his class last semester, and I miss it so much. He's very chill, and was willing to answer any questions. HW helped a lot. Easy A if you put in effort.

Amazing teacher! He made the class really easy by explaining each chapter so clearly. Final is not cumulative and you get 5% extra credit on each test if you go to etc for 3 hours in 2 weeks. You get a 1 page front and back cheat sheet for each exam. Studyguides are identical to the test.

He makes math easy to understand, explains well, gives A LOT of practice during class which makes HW easier. Very fair, if many miss same question on test he takes it out, if he realizes he didn't cover a subject enough, he takes it out. Tests are mult choice, final is optional, study & practice are key to passing. Great teacher, kind, and fair.

I wanted to add this class but since there was already a waitlist I wasn't too sure I'd get in, but I did! Although I guess it doesn't matter because Mr. Yang told us he wasn't going to be teaching Math103 anymore. As a professor, he really makes you enjoy learning math. I should know because I HATE math. Just show up and review his notes to pass.

I'm so lucky to have him Jim as my instructor for my last semester here @ city college. He's the best. He's really good at what he does. Explains very well and most of all very clear. I wish every teacher can be like him. I highly recommend him for anyone who has a hard time learning math.

Mr Yang is very clear in explaining how to do problems. I did not use the textbook because his slideshows and my note taking were enough to get through the class. Attendance is a must because of how much is covered in one day. Studying & attendance is the key to succeed. Got an A and would definitely recommend this class to other students.

Awesome teacher and gives extra credit big time. Just make sure you attend class and the textbook will never be needed. He covers the majority of what you need to know in class.

Awesome Professor. Does lots of examples in class to help students better understand the chapter/homework materials. Gives out study guides and lets students use cheat sheets for exams. So there is no reason for a student to fail with the amount of help he provides for students unless they are completely lost in the sauce. Highly recommend him.

Professor Yang is outstanding. He thoroughly explains the chapters and does lots of homework examples to help students understand. Repetition is key. Also gives extra credit if the student seeks tutoring for his class. Totally recommend him for all students. He explains things so simply to make it very easy to comprehend.

Wow probably one of the best and easiest professors you'll ever come across. He's very clear and understandable for lectures. You get a study guide for every exam. Professor Yang made this semester of statistics easier. I have always had difficulty in math but Yang made it as simple as possible. Your grade is heavily based on the exams so if you study you will pass the class with no troubles.

Easy Class overall, attendance is mandatory if you want to pass other than that pay attention during lecture and take good notes, do all hw for 5% extra credit on exams and youll be fine. Study guides are almost the same as the real tests. If you were to miss class he does post them online. Also has videos he makes to watch if youre lost.

Mr. Jim Yang is top notch. He is totally fair and requires solid effort from you. He will drop your lowest exam and allow one page of notes on said exam. If you show up to every class, complete his study guides, do your homework on time, and make the exam notes ahead of time you will find yourself happily with a A or B. He has been the best!

As someone who doesn't like mathematics, the professor made stats understandable. He gives out practice tests that prepares you for the exams. If you keep up with the homework and do the practice tests, you should have no problem passing the class. The cool part is that he drops your lowest text score.

Do all of the hw, you'll get 5% extra on the exams. Posts all notes on canvas in case you miss class and they're easy. Lets you use one page of notes for the exam. Study guides replicate exams pretty well. Pretty easy A tbh. Just have to put in the work and understand the material. Wasn't overwhelming at all.

Took him this summer for his 4 week session! I really suck at math but his lecture & his passion for math is amazing. You can tell he really wants his students to succeed. Passed with over a 97%! Great Professor. Wants you to pass. Do all the homework 100%, he gives you 5% extra credit towards all exams. Chapter quizzes were a new thing this semester.(Fall 2019)He drops lowest exam. Allows opportunity to improve overall grade towards end of semester. All lectures, notes and study guides can be accessed on canvas. Uses my mathlab 4 homework

So happy I took Mr. Yang . Statistics is hard but he made it easier to understand. Allows one page of notes for Exams. The study guides really do help with the tests so do them ! I recommend going to etc for extra help and doing Math 11 with the support class if you suck at math. Provides the opportunity to retake exams towards end of semester.

Math has always been something that I struggled with, but I defiantly recommend anyone who is worried about taking math to take it with professor Yang. He is very good at explaining and breaking down each problem. He is super easy to talk to and has a lot of patience. He allows one page of notes for exams and dropped the lowest exam score Take him!

Professor Yang lectures in a pretty straight forward manner. Extremely patient and always open to answering questions. Quick grader. He allows 1 page of notes on each exam, plenty of opportunity for extra credit if you complete the HW. I took Jim Yang during Fall Semester. He was a good professor, and very caring. His lectures were great. If you did the homework and understood it you were pretty much good. However you do have to purchase a TI 84 calculator. Do not try to use another type. In addition you have to purchase mystatslab. The class is easy but pricey.

Took Yang in the fall semester of 2019. Pros: He is the best Fresno city can offer. He's very clear and well organize. He does allow 1 page of note for test, drop the lowest score. Cons: Attendance is mandatory. Long class.

Never did well in math so I came in with a blank slate. He starts really slow but it helps so much when you arent well versed in math. Rarely if ever felt confused throughout the whole semester. He helps more than any other professor Ive had, just listen and youll genuinely learn a lot.

Lots of tests. He is the best teacher for statistics at Fresno City College. He is a good explainer, but sometimes goes fast during lectures. Most of the class is learning how to use your calculator. Use this class as the last math class you'll take in college if you're not a math related major.

Awesome teacher! Lectures are long, but explains everything well. Take advantage of his 1 oh of notes, do the homeworks there is not room to mess around. Pay attention and take advantage of everything he has to offer, embedded tutors are amazing for this class. Highly recommend.

Mr. Yang is very thorough, even though we had to switch to online classes due to Covid-19 he worked really hard to help us learn through zoom and going over the study guides on youtube videos (very helpful). This is not an easy subject but he definitely made it easy to learn. As long as you do the work and study you should pass.

This is my second time taking math 11, Mr. Yang lectures videos were very understanding. Although the homework can be frustrating at time because you have to redo it if you want a perfect score on the homework. Test are kinda tough just make sure you study really good for the exams as well attend tutoring. I would totally recommend this professor!

Took this class for the summer semester. Professor Yang makes math really easy to understand. The homework can feel irritating trying to get a perfect score but it really helps you understand each problem thoroughly which really helps on the exams, which are a huge portion of your grade. He is also really quick to respond and helps a lot. 10/10

Mr. Yang is the best math teacher ever. He teaches very well and will do his best to help you succeed. I suck at math and I pass his class with a high B. I did study hard and take advantage of ETC. You'll do fine as long as you attend his session and do the homework. His exam is very similar to the practice homework.

I graduated, and took him as mandatory for transfer. He actually cares, and was a great teacher. The key was his study guides which adequately prepared you for the real test. Find a study buddy too. Tell him if you have a problem, dont be scared. Was one of the best Professors of Math. I might drop by one day to say hi.

Super easy class. He review the homework with you too. This class isn't even as hard as people think it is. Textbook isn't needed since everything from lectures to notes are online. He's a great teacher.

Best math professor. Lectures are very clear and easy. If you don't understand, make sure you re-watch his lecture video and take detailed notes. Know how to do your homework and study guide bc it will be on the test. Multiple choice and fill-in test. No quiz. give 5pt extra credit on every test. A good amount of homework. No txt book required.

I took his online class during Summer 2021, he is a very passionate teacher and goes over each chapter/homework very efficiently. Don't hesitate to ask him questions about something you don't get, he will break it down easily for you. I hate math, but this teacher made me enjoy the class enough to finally pass. You won't regret taking his class.

At first it was intimidating, but after having Mr. Yang, I can say that if you want to pass and actually understand the lessons, TAKE HIM! He gives out 5pt extra credit on each test if you do all the homework. His test are just like the study guides, not too overwhelming.His communication is always open. Really solid teacher!

Prof. Yang is easygoing and can sometimes move pretty quickly through chapters. Although this was an in-person class, all of his lectures are recorded and on YouTube. His online lectures are pretty straightforward, and he provides all the notes you will need to do well on your exams. Attendance is optional, and he posts all of the notes and guides.

I really loved working with Professor Yang. All the lectures were posted online and were clear to the point. After watching the lectures and doing my homework, I didn't have to worry about my exams because they were pretty straightforward. Study guides helps a lot too.

I Took Stats over the Summer of 22 and breezed through it. If you are comfortable with math, this is a great course. He makes his own lectures so the only thing you will need to buy is your calculator. Test questions are the same as the homework questions with different numbers, and you can use your own notes while you take the tests.

AMAZINGGGGG profesor Ive always been horrible at math. Ive literally taken it 3x him being my third professor and I passed with an A. If you put in the work by doing the homeworks and studying for exams theres no way you wont be able to pass. Hes really good at explaining and helping when needed. Dont be afraid to ask for help.

Phenomenal professor: super accessible (office hours)/ explains content well. Online video lessons also available. At times challenging, but manageable class. Attend class, take notes, do the hw, ask Qs & good test grades will come your way. May opt out of final if you maintains an A (90%) or greater. TI83 or 84 required but may rent at library.

Just follow instructions on lectures and you'll be fine on the hw and exams. Review for ch exams he doesn't go over everything on study guides. The class is manageable. He gets back to you pretty fast if you have any questions. Lets you retake some chapter exams, not all. Easy A if you put effort. Overall, Recommend. Best stats prof.on campus!!

I suck at math, especially in stats but this professor is amazing. He goes over the material very carefully and helps students who need it and even gives out 5% extra credit if you finish homework assignments.

I have maintained bad grades in math my entire life. I never understood a single thing about it until I took Mr. Yangs class. He goes slow and makes sure everyone understands the work and even posts videos that make the work 10x easier. You even have 100 retries on every homework question. Easiest math class ever and I now understand math lol.

Lecture videos are offered online, alongside hw. You have three semi-short sections of hw per week always due on Sunday. So you get to work at your pace. Gives extra credit if you ace your hw for the week which isn't difficult to do. Very clear in expectations. Great note materials given our, tests are similar to hw you complete

Had him for advanced stats, and it was not as bad as people were telling me it was going to be. If you do the homework on time/early (preferably) and make notes to use in test, you will pass with a good grade. He gives extra credit for doing good on the homework, and responds timely. I've never understood math in my entire existence, but Professor Yang cleared the waters for me. He is a respectful and thorough teacher. His lectures can be accessible online (videos on homework assignments) or in person.. so if you miss a class, it's okay. But it's best to do both. This is a great class if you don't understand math.

Overall really great chill professor. He provides a lot of help for you to be able to understand the material in homework and tests. If you fail or still don't understand his class it really must mean that you truly have a hard time understanding the fundamentals of statistics or you truly didn't try in his class & get that extra help he provides.

TAKE HIM! Took him for the summer 4-week class and even though it moved very fast and we had 2 exams each week plus the homework was a little overwhelming. However, you get extra credit added to each exam if you pass all hw & he allows one pg notes for exams, which saved me! TAKE HIM!!!!! You will not regret! He always offers help if you are stuck.

By far the BEST Math teacher I have EVER had.I was stressing over this math class in general because most people I knew failed. And told me elementary stats is hard. It was hard trying to understand all the formulas, BUT Prof Yang made everything make sense. Take his class you won't regret it!

One of my favorite mathematics professors I've ever had. He was extremely clear and would extensively explain all the steps for assignments and questions. Class is lecture heavy but he has the entire notebook recorded. You could easily take this entire class online so long as you go to class for the exam's and classwork.
