Jimmy is a very nice professor however attending his class is pretty useless. He reads off pp slides that you can find yourself online and the exams questions can be tricky, make sure you read very carefully. Overall, he is nice and tries to help but the exams are made by the dean of accounting and not by him.

I loved his class,not only bc I got an A but bc he KNOWS what he's teaching and he is always there for help!If you need ACG3301 I highly recommend him!Study using the study guides and the book.All the examples are great! Professor Carmenate is really helpful. He is straight to the point, but he mostly just reads off of powerpoint slides. So you do have to read and study because the class itself is not easy. But he provides study guides and other opportunities to help you pass the class. Definitely take the class with him!

Prof. Carmenate is an amazing porfessor. He is incredibly helpful and really tries to make the class a fun experience. This class had three exams all of which were multiple choice and straightforward. I would absolutely recommend this professor!

Jimmy is an awesome guy, definitely not boring, however his classes are taught mostly from a powerpoint presentation given by the book. I prefer when a professor prepares his own lectures. Other than that I would definitely recommend him.

I enjoyed the class with Professor Carmenate. The structure of the quizzes/exams was good, with quizzes reinforcing concepts and exams focusing on problems. Professor Carmenate was always available to help me understand any concepts I was struggling with. If given the opportunity, I would definitely take another class with this professor.

I took professor Jimmy during the fall semester of 2011. I have to say that Jimmy is a great professor who is willing to help his students to succeed. He class is not an easy class, so be ready to study hard.

He is a great professorin the way he set the online class its pretty simply organized . But please remember its online so your kind of teaching yourself but I would recommend him he extends deadline, you cant get any better than that :)

If you are at FIU and know anything about the professors that teach this course, you know it is quite difficult to find a good prof. Carmenate was extremely helpful, very easy to talk to and generally wants to see his students succeed. I would highly recommend taking his class. I'm not usually one to write reviews, but he deserves it.

If you're lucky enough to have enrolled in his class on time before it's full, know you are in good hands. Accounting is not my forte, that's why I needed a Great Professor and did my research. This course is not easy, but this professor helps you through it and never took long to reply to any question or concern. He really wants you to succeed.

I dont know about his online section but I took him in class and he was great! Gives you more than everything you need to get an A. TAKE HIM YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. Obviously You have to do you're part as well.

talks a little fast, you wont be able to take notes in class so just read before class the chapter and youll understand everything.There is so much extra credit you can pass the class, just do the work

The class is semi hard but Professor Carmenate is a superb professor, I highly suggest you take a class with him. I recommend reading the chapter or at least skimming through it to get an idea of the material being covered in class. He gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. His tests are a bit difficult just study hard and you'll do well.

He's a great professor and person in general! Very understanding and super helpful. You must take his quizzes since they are a huge part of the grade, and they are not hard at all. I didn't go to class and still got a B, but I relied A LOT on the book for the tests. I would take him again for accounting for sure, he makes it easier than it is.

This professor is one of the best accounting professors FIU has to offer. He gives extra credit and does problems in class but to pass his class, you must study each chapter 10-15 hours per week and do both HW and Quizzes. If you do this, you will pass. He is the best ever.

Take managerial with him and I promise you won't be dissatisfied.

Took this class online. It was not an easy class but with Professor C, he makes everything easier than it actually is, you are in good hands if you take this class with him. I guarantee it. And plus, lots of extra credit opportunities, and students love extra credit. I would take this professor again if I had the opportunity to.

Best accounting professor at FIU! He wants you to pass, and does his very best to help you do so. Lectures are clear and precise (in terms of what we need to know), student-raised questions are highly encouraged, and each topic is discussed in great detail. Be sure to do all HW assignments and quizzes, which prepare you well for the exams.

I was scared to take an online course and even more so being an accounting course. Professor Carmenate's class was not easy, but the materials and resources he supplied with the course helped a lot! Tests and quizzes reflected his reviews. I now wish I was an accounting major to take another course with him. Highly recommend.

I would highly recommend. I only got a lower grade because I got lazy but overall a good class and easy A if you put work into it. Assignments every week due by Sunday (quiz&HW). Make sure you review the steps on the HW because they match the quizzes. Also, have them handy for the midterm and the final. Cheat sheet for the final. Would take again

People saying it's a lot of work and the tests are hard have never taken another acct class. Every prof at FIU assigns 1 HW and 1 quiz a week and the tests are all created by the acct department NOT the individual prof. That being said if you go to class and pay attention there's no excuse to fail. Givess enough EC to boost up a whole letter grade

This class is based upon a mock city which has a component due each week. Assignments are not difficult, but be thorough, you are trying to become a CPA. Respect the professor and you will get it in return. He is one of the best at FIU. The book is ok, but get the least expensive one you can, Pearson is needed too, but you can share it.

I took this hybrid course during the Summer A term. So far professor Carmenate has been the best ACG professor I came across at this University. He cares about his students and prepares them well enough to pass.

He gives a huge project that you will have to do by yourself, but he gives extra credit. He is funny but likes to be respected during the class time, so no cell phones or side conversations during class at all. You have to read/study because there is a lot of material to be covered. I recommend that you take him because he cares about his students.

I took him online, 1 quiz + homework every week, two projects, 3 exams, midterm proctored., clear grading criteria. If you do the work you'll pass without problems.

Great Accounting professor. This was an online course and he was clear as what we should expect. He was well organized and gave us friendly reminder when assignments and tests were due. There is a quiz and homework due for every chapter and he gives you a summary of what you should focus on the tests.

He is a good professor, but in order to do well you have to do all the work yourself. Weekly quizzes and homework that you have to have done before class. You have to be ready to put in the work and read the textbook if you want to pass. He will explains things and doesn't just read off powerpoints which is a plus. Tries to help students pass.

I am not good at accounting or at math but I made it. All you have to do is do the weekly HW & quizzes and make sure to do well on the midterm and final. The project wasn't that hard as long as you understand the instructions and what to do. Take this professor if you want to pass this class. I did and I passed.

He is a very caring teacher! There is weekly homework and quizzes which some of it could be time consuming so dont start on the day its due. He was very accommodating with the class when things went wrong with exams which wasnt difficult at all. Take him!

He isn't very involved, at least for the online class. His powerpoints are straight from the textbook, so the textbook isn't mandatory but I still recommend it. You have to buy pearson to do the hw and quizzes, they are pretty long but all due at the end of the semester so you have time. The exams are pretty fair, only one of three was proctored.

Managerial accounting, took it online. Overall the performance is on you so whether or not you pass is based upon if you did your work and studied. 3 exams (2 lockdown browser, 1 honorlock) 12 chapters on mylabsandmastering (12 homeworks, 12 quizzes) and they're lengthy. Professor provides a clear syllabus, sends email reminders and replies fast.

This class is a super easy A. One homework assignment and a quiz per week. Three exams, 2 on Lockdown Browser and 1 on Honorlock. I failed the quiz on Honorlock and still ended with an A. He also gave extra credit. However, I barely learned any managerial accounting.

What makes this class hard is the little time to go over the material. However, the professor is willing to help and his reviews are really useful. He knows his stuff. There are TONS of exercises to practice but all optional. Just one online quiz per week required. First 2 exams 27.5% of final grade and final exam 35%. This class is all about exams

Quizzes - 10% Exam 1/2-27.5%, Exam 3 35% EC 3%. First time the final exam was cumulative, class was difficult for me, you definitely need to make sure you don't take this class if you are working 30+ hours and full time student. Professor gives great feedback,dedicate time to do all the practice quizzes,homework,and online practice - non mandatory.

Dr. C has a great online course, everything is on Mylab. You have 2 opps to do quizzes. 3 exams, 2 on lockdown and 1 on honorlock. He drops lowest quiz and hmwk grade. 2 extra credit opps. 1 homework and 1 quiz due every Friday. I hate accounting but I would def recommend Dr. C.

I have taken Dr. Carmenate twice and I couldn't be happier. He said the book would help a lot but at the end if you follow his recorded lectures, you don't really need it (in my opinion).

I took him during Summer A and honestly it's a lot of work, but really doable. Accounting is not easy and here you really have to teach yourself if you doing online. But, so much extra credit brought from a 92% to a 107%. 3 exams: 2 lockdown and 1 honorlock. Sends reminders about due dates.

Not an easy class at all. Exams make up 85% of your grade. Professor is pretty good though and probably the best option to take this class with.

He's super nice, but this class is already extremely difficult and your grade is made up of mostly tests. Pre-quizzes force you to teach yourself the material before class. ZERO extra credit.

If you're genuinely interested in business and finance, you won't regret taking this class. The textbook is extensive, but you won't need to rely on it. He provides concise notes that cover all the essential material.
