Not that bad of a teacher, needs more examples of problems that he would put on a test, not just practice problems from the book, they are to easy. Practice test kind of resemblem the test, but not to much. he needs to make test easier.

He will show you everything there is to know about DC circuits. One of the Best in the department, perhaps the university. Great guy, loves football, and make sure you show up to his lectures

Jimmy is the coolest guy you could have for Electrical Fundamentals. I don't mind going to his class at all because it is entertaining! His tests can be a bit tough, but not too bad.

I have been at OSU for 2 years and Jimmy is my favorite teacher so far. Not only are his lectures informative, but they are also very fun. His tests are not too easy, which is good because this is one of the first weed out classes in your soph. year.

Fun guy, he tries really hard to make the subject entertaining. But definitly makes you earn your grade.

The man hates ME's for asking stupid questions, and can be abit of task if you ask about one of the sports teams.

He is an awsome teacher. You will do fine if you go to class and pay attention. The tests are not that hard as long as you have gone to class. Outside help is AWSOME!!! Way to go DR. J

cool prof, clear explanation, but must stop yabbing about football; i mean who gives a f... he always talks about watching football practice, but is it really football or guys in football uniforms that he's into.

Very fun instructor. He's very clear about what he teaches and what is expected. But if he says to do something then you better do it. Overall the best teacher I have had to date.

Dr J is an awesome teacher. He dosent go by the text a lot, which is good, as his methods make it 10x easier to solve the same problems. DONT GET ON HIS BAD SIDE! He makes a lot of jokes and entertains the class, but if you upset him the joke will be on you! Great guy, Id take more classes from him.

This guy is awesome. His class will be a little hard cause he makes the hw due before he lectors over it, but the tests are easy. Hes freaking hilarious though and you will love his class. He rips on people in class, gives EC for racing him (40 yrd), and is a very straightforward guy.

Excellent Professor, very easy to follow. The lectures follow exactly what he expects on exams. Just make sure you listen when he tells you what he marks points off for. MINUS 5!

Great Professor...as you can see by everyone's posts. All I have to say is make sure that you do you homework ahead of time...each assignment is worth 70points and tests are 100. Each homework is almost worth as much as a test...they can add up really quick if you half-a** them.

He prefers to be called Dr. J but we called him Dr. Dirty Tricks, Dr. DT for short. Why? Cause he threw some dirty tricks at us on the second mid-term and final! He is also one of the best professors I've ever had. Entertains the class, tells you what you need to know. Attend all classes! Do all HW!

He is a very colorful Hillbilly. Great teacher , he explains the the concepts straightforward and at a good pace. He is very helpful in office hours, wont letyou leave until you understand and he is funny about it. he loves what he is doing and it shows.

Everything is doable, and if you have trouble go talk to him. He's always willing to help.

By far one of the best teachers I've had at Oregon State. He may stray from the lecture material to tell stories a lot but that's what makes it interesting. If you don't think Eggerton rocks then MINUS 20 TO YOU BROTHER.

Hes a great teacher. He makes going to class fun. Im a civil engineer and i hate this electrical stuff.. He makes the class bearable and actually has fun while teaching. Probably the best teacher i have had yet, and the only Hick teacher i have seen so far.

Hot Hot Hot, Love the Football, Be the football, brother, especially if you're poor.

Brother make sure you know about football when you come to class otherwise Dr. J will write your name on the board and -10 next to it.That is only if he can understand your name, you can get away if he doesn't. He'll make you and the rest of the class laugh about it. Or maybe cry from too much laughing. Nothing certain, only that he is AWESOME.

This guy rocks, but be warned, his off topic banter during class, while entertaining, usualy manages to offend someone every term. He is very helpful during office hours, if you can keep him from talking about football the whole time, and trust me, he will talk about football A LOT! This guy is a lot of fun, not an easy class, but a great prof.

He is great! He made me want to show up in class, his class is fun...and he enjoys what he does...but careful if he knows your name, you'll probably be called in class a couple times. Tests are tricky!! Review the practice midterms that he emails you! Homework takes a LONG time, don’t leave it for the last minute.

This is the best Prof for Engineering I have ever had. He made us want to go to class and learn about circuits even though it wasnt in our major. Practically the Best and far most the Fairest out of all the Engineering Profs, Brother. Also love his body. From The Nukes and Somalia!!!

An increadable teacher who always makes the class interactive and fun. He loves what he does and it shows, which in my opinion makes him one of the best professors at this school. I also hear he has one kick ass boat!

Great teaching.

A great professor. You will look forward to attending his lectures. He has a class of 130 yet everyone is involved. Eggerton can get off subject quickly, but in the process makes the class fun. The lab is BS. The tests are fairly straight forward. The material can de difficult so attend the help sessions and form a study group.

the MEs love doctor J and hopefully he reads this before the final on friday :P

Eggerton is one of the top EE profs at OSU. He will make you work hard, but there is no way you can fail unlessy ou either got caught trying to cheat, or just plain didn't go to class ever, or forgot you had signed up at all.

The ones who rated Dr. J as a bad professor do NOT know what they are talking about. He's a little hard, but you'll learn for sure. Very helpful, very clear. He's one of the best engr profs at OSU.

I disliked circuits and was really bad at him before taking his course, but he makes it so simple that you just can't not get it. At the same time he keeps the class extremely fun. I'm cracking up everything class and still learning the necessary material. I actually look forward to this class.

Dr. J's not bad at all. ENGR-201 was a relatively painless class that didn't live up to all the hype that the EEs try to scare better engineers away with.

This course was challenging in a good way. tests completely based on homework. Once you knew the material, you were set for the test. must go to classes, or you will miss important material. This professor is devilishly handsome and I could not keep my eyes off him. Definately a cutie with a naughty booty!

Awesome professor. Knows his stuff, and does lots of examples. Midterms and Final were fair. Just go to lecture and do the homework, and you're ready to go. No need for additional studying. Funny as hell too!

Dr. J is by far my favorite professor ever. He is absolutely hilarious! As far as the class goes, if you are an EE it is very easy. The midterm averages were about 85%. If you aren't an EE (like me)... DONT take the class during the fall term with all the EEs. It is much more difficult, especially if you don't like circuits!

Easy class, ENGR 211 and ECE 441-443 senior design. I dare him to give me something harder!!! Haha, I guess you know who's writing eggerton :D, too bad I'm graduated and gone so you can't give me anything harder. He's a great, friendly guy. Best of Luck Eggerton! :)

Dr. J is one of my favorite profs. He's a good Christian man who treats his students with respect and actually cares about our futures. He's very helpful during office hours and incredibly funny. He likes to "sprinkle" his exams with a little bit of tricky stuff but nothing unfair. Overall his class is challenging but definitely doable.

I took 201 and 203 from Dr. J, and he is definitely the best professor I've had yet.

This prof is the BOMB. I took 201 and 203 from him. He is awesome during class and makes tons of jokes. His grading is always fair, his lectures are crystal clear. He NEVER belittles students except for sometimes some ME's :) . My only advice would be to GO TO HIS LECTURES. Its worth it.

Dr. J is highly entertaining, never a boring moment in his class. The actual content of his lectures leaves a little bit to be desired. He wasn't always completely clear and he showed a lack of curiosity about the theory behind the problem solving techniques that I found a little disappointing. He is very accessible. Overall, a good profesor

To sum up, Dr. J is da shiz. I never had a boring moment in class, and his lectures were always crystal clear. Occasionally he would run out of time because he was so busy making fun of ME's, but his classes were never boring. His exams can be a little hard, but study properly and you should do well.

He is pure awesome wrapped in bacon. I can't see why anyone would dislike him. I'm gonna miss this crazy old guy next year.

Dr. J was the absolute best teacher I have ever had at OSU. I hated anything EE related before his class. He made me look forward to coming to his class just by how dynamic and wonderful his teaching is. His tests are fair and he always looks out for students best interests. He is a great guy all around and I'm bummed he's gone. A great man.
