Dr. Jimmy is arrogant. he thinks he is all that!
I also think he's arrogant. He doesn't grade fair. When he says something that is good, later time he might say it should be fixed. He is not consistant.
Interesting content in class, kind of an arrogant professor.
Unfair grader. He said I would get an A, but I got a B. Brags about himself and his success on a daily basis, very arrogant. This is all unfortunate because he is the only teacher for this class of marketing 311.
Great Professor and gives good lectures. Really passionate about marketing and uses real life examples from his own work. Online exams but doesn't allow students to work together and will give you a 0 if he finds out. Only used textbook on exams. Don't talk during lectures, if he's in a bad mood, he will kick you out!
Class is based on powerpoints, and you do not have to go at all. 3 exams, a simulation, and few random other things. Class is not that hard, some test ?'s tricky. THE GUY IS FULL OF HIMSELF THO. Gives out money for ?'s, okay thats cool. But for every example he uses his businesses and what hes done and w/e. But he's still a good prof and good class
I am not interested in Marketing or Advertising at all, and he made it pretty interesting. I would take him again, and recommend him, he is fun to learn with!
Class is not mandatory and he posts all his lectures online which is helpful, all exams are open book open notes but you only get 60 minutes for 50 questions. Not a hard class but still requires some effort.
If you have the option, do not take him. He is not willing to help at all and is rude in his emails. The tests have some extremely hard questions. He treats it like a 400 level class. He is arrogant and all about himself. One of my least favorite professors I have had in my three years at Whitewater.
Find it comical how many reviews comment on his arrogance. It's very true, and he does give out money. Still an easy class, attendance optional, optional final, group simulation, tons of extra credit. For exams, although online, prepare for them as you would for any other exam and you'll be fine. Follow blogs & twitter in that preparation too.
I didn't mind this class. The simulation is stupid because you don't actually go over the simulation concepts in class (demand forecasting, budgeting, etc) and it counts as an exam grade. Overall it wasn't too bad. He gives extra credit.
Jimmy is an okay professor. Definitely nothing special, but he does bring personal experiences to class and uses a lot of youtube clips to make it a bit more interesting. Class is not mandatory and he podcasts most of his lectures - gives some hints in actual class though. Hated the simulation, but it was a small part of class. Exams are online.
Jimmy knows what he is talking about and communicates it well, but the exams are far from easy. They are all text book based. Lots of extra credit. Also I would suggest getting the help of a student who previously took the class on the simulation. It's not difficult, he simply does not go through how to use it. Overall an OK professor.
Attendance is not mandatory. He podcasts almost every lecture. I would suggest going to class though because he gives extra hints for exams, extra credit, and the simulation. The simulation is hard because it isn't explained very well. It's not something that should be in an entry level marketing class.
Chances are you will have to take him. Class is boring and just face the fact you will probably get a B
I really liked Jimmy's lectures, when fellow students weren't rude and distracting. We had another professor do a guest lecture one time and that proved how good Jimmy is. The Simulation was fun. The tests are hard but there is extra credit. There is no reason not to get an A, if you work hard.
He does not care for accounting or finance majors even though we have to take the class as well. Acts as if everyone needs to know everything about Marketing. Does not explain anything well and makes you learn boring topics on your own because he doesnt want to teach it. The guest was so much better than he is.
Jimmy knows what he's talking about in regards to business no doubt. His ego, however, restrict him from being an effective professor.
Class is pretty easy because he focuses on the principles. He podcasts all his lectures so you don't even have to go to class. 3 online exams and a simulation. Gives a lot of extra credit.
Exam questions come from the book!! Offers a lot of extra credit. Podcasts lectures so attendance is not mandatory. Stimulation is not explained very well so you teach yourself.
He presents the material well, all the test questions are on quizlet, and all he talks about is AMA... He is obsessed
WORST professor I have EVER had. Treats it like a course for a marketing major rather than a general business course. Powerpoints are no help so don't waste your time. All exams are right out of the book.
Easy class. Not mandatory attendance since the lectures are podcast. Most test questions are online. I don't care for the guy though. I agree with all the comments about his arrogance and large ego. Emails are unclear and won't email you back if you have a question or concern. Will likely ignore you if you're not a marketing major.
Jimmy has valid experience to apply to this course. Class not mandatory, but recommended since he gives out answers occasionally. Tests were only 60min for 60 questions, so study like you would any other class. Simulation was terrible, there was no explanation, I learned nothing from it. Lots of extra credit, but only towards exams, not simulation.
Possibly the biggest tool on campus. I have learned absolutely nothing in this class, and I do not feel like he is fit to teach at the college level.
I did not like his attitude. He is very egotistical and rude. I did not learn much from this class. Yes, he has the qualifications to teach, but he does not have the right personality.
Useless. Preaches AMA and Kwik Trip the whole time. Learned absolutely nothing in my 3 months with this professor. Unfortunately, most of you will have to take this professor, but if you can avoid him, DO IT!!!!!! Simulation is one of the dumbest things you will ever do for a grade during college. Wish I could teach a class on why not to take Jimmy
Jimmy is kind of a tool... the simulation was fun, but it's not a fair way to grade. Tests are easy. Answer questions and he might give you money.
Attendance is not required, but if you go to class, he tells you exactly what will be on the quizzes. All quizzes and tests are online, which is nice. He also offers a lot of extra credit. He is responsive to emails and is very knowledgeable. He records and posts his lectures on D2L, so you can review classes that you missed. He's a great professor
We were in a lecture hall for this class. You could be gone and he would never notice. He records almost all his lectures and puts them up on D2L. Has one big assignment that you can do by yourself or alone. I had trouble connecting to the online database for the project, but he got me the help I needed, quickly.
Horrible Professor, completely egotistical and self absorbed and talks about himself all class. Exams aren't too hard but there is no point in going to class just read the book for an hour and a half, its more exciting than listening to him.
Nothing to say, except waste time to take his class.
He stinks. He floods your email inbox with things that could be sent just as one email. Not to mention the emails sometimes are missing punctuation, make NO sense, or have multiple misspelled words. His syllabus did not match the course; assignments did not line up (some on the syllabus we never heard a word of). Don't take him.
Lecture's are kind of boring after a while. He floods you inbox with a ton of useless emails and most of them are filled with spelling mistakes. There are about 10 quizzes that are online and three exams that are also online. Just about all the answers can be found on the internet so there's not really a need to go to class.
Careful, he has a very obvious egotistical personality. He wants you to answer questions, but people in class are hesitant because he sometimes comes off as pretentious. Helpful at times. Emails A LOT (often with spelling mistakes). Gives easy extra credit at times. Tests can be hard, need to listen to him closely cause notes are very simplified.
Fun as an introduction course.
Very relevant for an entry level course. Has real world experience.
Jimmy has a really big ego and talks about his brands A LOT. There is really no point in going to class since he just reads the powerpoints to you. I would recommend taking someone else if you have the option.
The complainers in this class don't get it - - Jimmy focuses on things you need to know in marketing. Most of his slides are things he collected from the web, not the book. Not a hard class if you come to class and read the book.
Jimmy's class was great! He records his lectures and provides a "live link" to watch them real time if you are sick or just don't feel like attending. He provides his powerpoints on D2L to print out and they follow the chapters in the book pretty well, the tests are online, open-note open-book. He gives all the answers if you pay attention Take it!
Jimmy is a great guy. Get on his good side, always go to class. Never go on the Live Link because it never worked for me. You miss a lot if you're not in class. Take great notes and do the extra credit! He hands out a lot of those opportunities. Make sure you start studying ahead of time and you'll be fine.
Lectures can be streamed online. He has a review day before every exam and gives you the answers to a lot of questions that will be on the exam. He records the review lectures and posts it on D2L, so attend class or watch it online for those days! There are a 4-5 blog posts that are easy points and 5-6 quizzes. Very easy class
Surprising that someone of Jimmy's experience in business would teach a required course. Really liked how he related marketing to the real world.
The lectures are sort of interesting, and has experience in the marketing field so he applies what we learn in class to the marketing world very well. All exams are online, and while not terribly hard, they aren't easy either, so you'll need to study. You have to do a few blog posts. Lectures are streamed online, but I recommend going to class.
Jimmy is a marketer for Kwik Trip and loves Apple. He posts his lectures online and live broadcasts them, so if you don't want to be in class you don't have to. The exams are online and fairly simple. Don't even bother reading, he will tell you everything you need for the exam. Take notes and you'll do fine,
One of my least favorite professors of my academic career. Doesn't care about lower level course, simply reads off a powerpoint. All test and quiz answers can be found online.
All exams are online and answers can be found of quizlet. He is a super easy graded and you only have to show up to classes 3 times for the whole class.
Knows marketing
Totally loved this class! Made me want to become a marketing major instead of accounting! Love the lectures! Very interesting and fun!
He is a bad teacher who goes off topic, yanks around his students, talks about outdated information, attempts to contradicts his syllabus, talks about things only relevant to marketing students, and overall sets up his class poorly. Whole class feels like busy work. Just know that you wont learn anything but its easy and cheating is totally fine.
Really know marketing and totally up to date.
Jimmy is a great teacher. Even though he reads off the lecture, he gives facts and examples along the way. If you are not there, he uploads podcasts to listen to. Jimmy adds videos to make you understand. The quizzes are short and easy. The exams are a little harder but easy to pass. I would definitely take his class again. Highly recommend!
Jimmy really knows his stuff and tells you the most important things to know.
He knows what he is talking about. The only problem is he refuses to talk about anything other than Apple, Coca Cola, and his sponsored brands from AMA. His class is straightforward, but any questions he makes up on quizzes are so ambiguous that two or even three answers could work.
He used Webex to broadcast his lecture online so most people just watch it online instead of going. 3 in person are required. But really, you don't need to go or watch since his exams are online (open note, open internet, open partner) and all the answers are on quizlet. Long story short i went to 3 classes the semester and got an A.
The class was incredibly easy, but so boring if you actually went to the class. He sent you emails all the time that have plenty of grammatical errors. Also he talks about AMA or brands AMA works with enough that you could list them if asked. This class is a joke, Quizlet will get you an A otherwise the extra credit will, told us to rate him.
This is an intro class, so they can be boring. Jimmy made it interesting and gave many examples.
Jimmy is nice but hardly exciting. This course is taught in the auditorium, so get ready to sit with 100+ students. Also, it's just a survey of marketing, so the material is really dry. Still, it helped me to get a better idea of what I want to do with my major (marketing).
This is a required course for all majors. I likes the fact that jimmy understood this and didn't make it too hard while still addressing what marketing is. As a marketing major it gave me an idea of what I may want to do.
Worst teacher I've ever had. Lectures are simple but his exams are 10x harder. He makes up questions (or takes them from the book) and expects you to know what HE thinks is the best answer when there's more than one correct answer. Terrible teacher, if you have another choice - take it!
I was a general business major and switched to marketing because of his class. Bring lots of real world stuff into the class. Does live feeds so you can watch from home.
He is vey knowledgable, but his tests are trash. He is just not a good test writer. You can understand the material and not do well on the test. Would definitely not recommend taking with him.
would take different professor
Its a class of 300+ and you can watch live feed from home. His tests are online 50 MC/TF 2 points each, 60 mins. Optional final. All the answers were on quizlet till our semester but I took the tests with 6 people and got an A every test. If you go to class and write down everything he says, you'll get an A. Tests were hard if you took them alone.
Wow, he knows his stuff. I wasn't a marketing major but plan on changing to one. Lectures are very good with real examples
Jimmy changed the class a lot this semester. The quizzes and tests are harder than what previous students had taken. He's very full of himself and makes it hard for a student to want to learn in the class. It's not obscenely hard but it's tedious. I would suggest going to class or at least watching the online streaming and taking notes.
Tests are 75% of the class and are extremely difficult.
Lectures go by fast and are dull. He crams a lot of material and tests are difficult. Reading the textbook is highly recommended as he covers material very vaguely. You also have remember videos are stuff he says in class. He has you respond to blogs and take 5 questions quizzes, which are easy points.
Does not cover any of the material clearly. You will have to do most of the learning on your own. Very full of himself.
The ability to watch class online was nice. The biggest downfall of the class was how poor the exam questions were written and how unorganized the material was set up. The first exam covered like 10 chapters and the next exam 4.
He crams all the material, you really don't learn anything from this class, and his test questions are confusing at times. However, he does curve his exams by quite a bit. Our 2nd exam, which the average grade was a 66%, he gave everyone a 12 point curve. Do the tests with with a cool group of people. Not a difficult class overall.
Awful professor. Class is a mess as far as grading. Didn't learn very much at all. Would definitely recommend taking it with another professor.
Awful class.
learned nothing
Thanks to past raters his exams are no longer on quizlet. Lectures are streamed online. Exams were very tough, answers to questions were worded such as any of the answers could've been correct. Gives plenty of extra credit. Follow along in lecture and you should do okay.
Very knowledgeable. Makes it very clear what you need to learn. Does a live feed if you want to take class at home. Changed from general business to marketing.
Interesting lectures. He has a passion for marketing.
For an intro course he goes very deep into marketing.
Great professor, and interesting lectures. You are able to watch lectures from home via WebEx. Tests are difficult, make sure to study for them even though they are online.
He will make sure the class average is always 80%, which sucks because his tests are extremely hard. He gives extra credit for going to things that last 3 hours but you only get 2 points (1 test question 2.5 points) He's Bogus, the class is bogus, and he's really full of himself. Try not to take, it will be hard not to take him though.
Good teacher, exams are decently difficult but they are all online
Jimmy isn't too hard but as a non-marketing major it hard to focus in class because all he talks about is what the marketing students are doing. Actually study and read for the exam they are kind of tough. Some extra credit but not much.
Read the book he gives out money in class
Jimmy, is an excellent professor. He is very intelligent and he rewards those who come to class. He really tries to help people succeed and is willing to help those who need it. He is also the marketing department manager, so make sure to befriend him.
Jimmy is a great professor, he really knows his stuff. The classes can get a bit boring because there is so much content that needs to be covered but Jimmy does his best to keep it interesting. The Blogs and Quizzes are very easy, but the exams are a bit challenging.
Jimmy was a good professor I thought. He keeps class up to date on current trends and makes it interesting during his lectures. The tests can be a bit challenging and the extra credit option, if you don't go to the events or in my case can't make it, in my was far more work than necessary for a few points.
Being a student of Jimmy's is a real treat. He offers several chances for extra credit and makes it easy to get a higher grade in the class with smaller assignments and online quizzes that, if done well, assist you in getting your ideal grade. Highly recommended and well respected individual in the field.
-Gives a good lecture, lots of videos, frequently ends class early, very little in-class discussion -Tries to subtly (or not so subtly) convince you to take more marketing/selling classes -Has a tendency to cut you off if you are answering a question if the answer isn't "his answer", versus guiding you to the correct answer -Study for the tests!
He cuts students off way to often. Gives away money if you give him the correct answer. Your right answer is never the right answer he is looking for. Also doesn't call on girls to answer. Don't need to go to class, but when you do he pushes other marketing classes way too much.
if you want an 80% in the class take him. All he ever talks about is other marketing classes and the selling team. No one care about them. You will take a "cultural Test" which you will fail and he never teaches. but the average is 80% no curve. full of himself, always interrupts people. extra credit a 6 page single spaced research paper bogus
His exams are difficult. The time allowed is 60 minutes for 50 questions but the questions are in depth and hard to find the answer to, especially if your notes aren't organized. The exams are online but are difficult. His cultural quiz is difficult. I am an A student but expect to get a B or B- because his questions on exams/quizzes are hard.
AWESOME
My class was over 350 students so it was pretty easy. All quizzes and tests are taken online and are open book and open internet. Gave out a lot of extra credit. If you go to class he will tell you exam questions. Gives you the option to web stream class lectures from wherever. Gives you a lot of chances to earn good grade.
This guy was really good! Highly recommend especially if you like upbeat but really informative. Class is based on online (short) quizzes, blog posts, and tests; all of them open note/book. Extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. Optional final at the end.
Extremely knowledgable on the topic(s) discussed in class. Tests and Quizzes focus more on the implication rather than definition (though you must know them too). Fair extra credit opportunities. Lectures take up majority of class. Nice examples used in class. Motivates class to answer questions with money. Overall, I would take him again.
Jimmy isn't a bad prof. He sends email reminders for every assignment and offers about 10 points of extra credit throughout the semester. It's the intro to marketing course so he covers a lot of material. The quizzes and blogs are easy points but the exams are much tougher. Pay attention to lecture videos, theres about 5 video questions per exam!
It has to be hard to teach such a large class. However, he keeps your attention through interesting content and live videos. Can watch from home as well.
Typical A student but he makes this class harder than it should be. His exam questions are poorly written and doesn't prepare you for an assessment worth 60 points of your final grade. He is hard to listen to and gives out money to make students participate because he is very dull. Would not recommend.
The exams are difficult for an introductory course. His lectures are long and not entertaining. He is very bad at responding to emails. Overall, would not recommend. (Normally an A student)
Do not take for your introductory marketing course. His tests are long but do not offer enough time. His lectures are boring to attend. Quizzes are ok level but the exams are overly difficult. Do not expect an A. My friends and I are A students and were very disappointed by the class.
Really knows his stuff. I read some of these comments and wonder if it is the same person doing it over and over again.
Great D2L discussion room and very quick feedback.
It was an online class, but Jimmy's recorded lectures were excellent. His grades were fair, but I could've use more feedback. He was overall very enthusiastic about the topic and often used real world examples. 3 Tests, 3 Quizzes, Blog Posts, and two written assignments.
Very excited about the topic. Sends lots of reminders for assignments. Flexible with due dates if you ask. Fair amount of online discussions/blogs, but few other assignments. Optional final exam that if you take will replace your lowest other exam grade - which could help or hurt you. Or just don't take it if you did well previously.
He's alright, but my god dude please stop advertising your marketing firm. His discussions are easy, but his exams are a little daunting. Quizzes are also kinda just very "read between the lines" heavy.
He is amazing! Im actually related to him. He is awesome I would recommend taking him
For an online course he was totally amazing. Great discussions and quick feedback/response.
Jimmy puts a ton of time and effort into making this class up to date with new material and makes the class interesting! I loved it and would definitely take another Jimmy class.
I took this class for credit in my program and would definitely choose to have him again for a teacher! Material was easy to read and learn and the professor was very much 'for the success of the student' by offering extra credit, extended due dates, and hints for quizzes and exams. Overall, great professor and great class!
Great online teacher. Highly engaged. Content is extremely fresh.
One of the best online courses I ever had.
