save yourself the time and take the class on line.very liberal account of our society, class should be renamed socialist
excellent teacher, has a passion for the course that pours in his lectures making it more interesting...very friendly, great personality, easy tests and essays...wonderful experiences in wei's class room
Excellent teacher! He knows what he's talking about and he peppers his lectures with anecdotes and interesting stories. Obviously cares a lot about the subject. He is flexible and will help you if there is a problem that interferes with a due date.
Great teacher, easy tests, easy essays... Helpful and informative. I learned a lot.
He is a wonderful teacher who goes beyond the call of teaching when it comes to his students. I loved his class.
Great teacher, defint funny @ times with his accent. If you showed up to class u got mad points just for attendance. Be ready for lotsss of info..and to ask questions..
Have fun trying to understand what he is saying. I never even bought the book and I got a C in the class.
This teacher was so boring, I had to prop my eyes open with toothpicks! And I liked the subject!! It was everything I could do not to leave at the break.
Great teacher! Very nice, really easy. If you don't get an A in his class then something is wrong. The class can be boring sometimes and his accent is thick. Sometimes hard to understand.
Can be boring, but he does love the subject and enjoys using personal experiences in his lectures which are amusing to hear. Easy going and accomodating with reasonable requests.
such a good course! not incredibly difficult. he has a thick accent, but he realizes it and doesn't take offense if you can't understand him (but you have to ask if you don't understand). he's from china, so his perspective on sociology is all from experience, not from a book.
The worst teacher I have ever had. I was a 4.0 student until I took his class. Very hard to understand and he refused to accept doctors notes from the poor girl that sat next to me that had cancer. Totally turned me off to Sociology! I will never recommend him to anybody EVER! I have never had a problem with a teacher at BCC until Dr. Wei!
Very boying, hard to understand what he is saying because he's from china. i was interested before this class, now i hate it. lectures are out of the book basically. wouldn't recommend him to anyone.
Horrible teacher! Boring class! Anytime you tried to ask questions or debate w/ him, he would start talking in circles before he finally just brushed you off. I took the course in the summer so there was only 12 class dates. You get 200 points total for coming to class, but if you miss a class, he takes off 40 pts! 12 times 40 does NOT equal 200!!!
He was my favorite prof at BCC. You can tell he cares about his field and students. I liked hearing his stories about China.
Teacher is very nice, but extremely boring and very difficult to understand.
super nice teacher and very specific on what he wants in class. he made sociology somewhat interesting
This class was easy. Dr. Wei is smart and knows a lot, but he can sometimes be difficult to understand. Good guy though.
He is a very sweet mean. His accent is hard to understand at times but if you actually pay attention he knows what he is talking about and is pretty interesting.
Dr. Wei is a great teacher. He really seems to enjoy teaching and tries to make good time of class use. His accent is NOT that hard to understand. He really wants people too pass and succeed.
Dr. Wei is hard to understand and spends too much time on each topic.
Great teacher. Good grading scala. Recommend his class.
Dr. Wei is very understanding to outside circumstances and is very helpful. He relates his life to his lectures and this makes the course easier to understand.
Papers are cake, tests are hard. He's very boring, but it isn't his fault.
He is the funniest foreign teacher I have ever had. I don't remember where he is from but he is hilarious with his stories. Although he is a lecturer and is extremely boring when teaching. He is fairly easy though as long as you do your essays and go over your notes before a test.
Took in Summer. Overall EASY class. Typical stand up lecturer. Papers: 5 total, 600 wds each on easy topics, easy grade, 30% of grade. EXAMS: 4 Total, 60 ? each, w/ 1 easy essay ?, comes straight from book and his powerpoints, 40% of grade. ATTENDANCE: 20% of grade. PRESENTATION: Spend 10 min teaching the chapter he assigns to you, 10% of grade.
This is the most boring teacher I have ever had. I could barely keep my eyes open. It was misery every morning to go into his class. He is very hard to understand, he doesn't speak english very well. But overall the class is a breeze to pass, but good luck staying awake. The test are hard if you don't read the material.
This class was a joke. He can only answer questions one way (cannot give a different perspective on what he lectures). Very Boring, yet Very Easy. Do the work and you will get an "A"
I took Sociology over the summer and thought it was a good class. Dr Wei's lectures are boring at times, but overall he's a great teacher. He relates things to personal experience and has a unique outlook. He's very helpful and organized. The textbook was actually very interesting and I learned a lot of useful stuff, tests are easy if you read it.
Dr. Wei is so helpful and sincerely wants all of his students to succeed. I wish he was my professor for all my classes!
I took Wei for an online sociology class and found it to be pretty hard. You have to study alot for his quizzes to get a good grade. Tests are hard! However it is doable. I guess if you like a challenge take him.
Dr. wie means well..unfortunatly that wasnt good enough for this class! His lectures were long and boring, but he covers everything.i recomend notes of everything that goes on the bord.i feel bad in saying this but i feel his accent got in the way of learning for some people.but if you had a question he would be more than happy to answer it for you
I took this class online and it was fairly easy, but his grading system is bogus. I made an A on both of the tests, but he gave me a B in the class because I missed one of 16 weekly discussion topic. His point system for grading discussion topics makes no sense, and I still don't understand why I didn't earn an A. Online quizzes are difficult.
Dr. Wei is performance oriented. If you put forth effort, he'll help you as best he can. If you don't care, neither will he. His class is not extremely hard, but you've got to hustle and keep up with the work he gives you. Also, watch out on his tests. The questions can be worded in a tricky way. All in all, he's a good teacher.
Dr. Wei teaches by means of lectures. The majority of the class time, minus the group presentations, is spent writing notes while he lectures from his PowerPoint slides (my only complaint is that the slides were not posted online). Class attendance is required as you will miss a lot of material.
Wooo man. Sleepy time. Lecture, lecture, lecture. Easy class as long as you study your notes but, man, there is no animation is this guy. He has moments where he can be funny, but those are few and far between. Will help you out if you ask for it. Good man. Boring, but good.
A very nice guy, just extremely boring. My most difficult task was staying awake in his class. At times you may hear something that piques your interest, but that will be very seldom. Other than that, the class was fairly easy.
The worst and most boring teacher ever!!! You can barely understand him and he'll accuse you of cheating, then make you retake the horrible multiple choice test and then fail you anyway!
Dr. Wei is an excellent teacher, and a smart man. Read the text you will do well. He gives you a study guide for each test. He even gives you a whole letter grade higher for voluntering 20 hours! DO IT. I got a high A in this class because I payed attention and asked questions. I would take him again. My favorite BCC instructor!
Dr. Wie was awsesome. I didn't want to take sociology, but he made it fun and interesting. It was a great class. He helps everyone pass with good grades!
Mr. Wei is a very boring teacher. I felt he was very narrowminded in his teaching. If you ask a question he answers something that doesn't pertain to the question. I fought to keep my mouth shut the entire class. There is no point in trying to convey a point of view other than his. Read the book and you'll do fine. BORING!! He is anti-psychology.
Dr. Wei is a good teacher. A little boring, but he's fair and informative.
BORING!!!!!!!!!!!! but pretty easy never payed attention in class...skimmed through the book minutes before class and got Bs on all the tests...come prepared to sleep!
Took Dr. Wei for summer sociology. Hard to cram 16 wks into 6 but got thru Book. Good, Smart teacher. Kept us in class entire time. Got monies worth. Learned a lot. Would take Dr. Wei again. Got good grade, but worked for it. Tests are hard.
I took the Sociology class online with Dr. Wei, his grading scale is VERY tough, and so are his tests. I have a GPA of 3.76, and he continuously gave me C's and B's. He's not the best at answering emails or phone calls. I wouldn't recommend this instructor.
This class is EXTREMELY boring! Whoaaaa sleepy time. His tests can be difficult, even if you study. If you don't study for the tests, good luck. You have 5 papers, 4 tests, attendance, and a presentation. I don't recommend taking this class. I wouldn't do it again. Go to a different campus, the drive is worth it.
This is the worst class I've ever taken at BCC. There is not one class that is interesting. It's easy, but BORING. Make sure you study for the tests. He gives opportunity for extra credit. If you don't attend a class, then you get 15 points taken off your attendance grade. Grades are 5 papers, 4 tests, presentation and attendance. Not recommended.
Soooo boring!! Can't understand anything he says. He spend 45 min. On 1 slide. His test are hard but as long as you get 60 points on the writings and do the service learning you should pass. But I wouldn't take him again
I would not recommend this class or this professors to anyone. It is not that it was hard. It was boring and basically taught yourself. He gives you reviews for every test and basically you do not have to take notes just study for those specific areas before the test overall easy however he juust rambles on and on about personal stories.
I would not recommend this teacher to anyone. He has a nice heart but his teaching stradegy is awful. He will stay on one slide for the entire class and his test are nothing like the study guide. I passed but I would have understood the material better if i had another teacher.
Dr Wei is log winded in lectures and may be hard to pay attention to at times. He has a dry sense of humor also. The tests are a challenge. I found using flip cards created from the study guides helped alot. The writing assignments are an easy A and he grades attendance. The tests are very detailed so you must study. He fair and by the book!
he is difficult to understand. you will hate thiss class
Dr. Wei is a really sweet guy but unfortunately his class is oh so boring. At times its difficult to understand what he is saying and he will spend around 45 min on one slide. His tests are so hard! Do not take this professor..you will be bored to tears.
Do NOT take into to Sociology as a summer online class. The tests are very, very hard. I can study for weeks and still make a C on an open-book test. 60 long and complecated questions in 40 minutes is insane. The study guides are not always helpful because he'll ask things that weren't on it. I hate this class.
Dr. Wei's class was not easy. His discussion boards were easier cause I got all 400 points. The tests were hard! 60 questions in 40 mins which isnt fair. That really wasn't got and it was online. The questions weren't easy either. I wouldn't mind taking him again if I had to but I dont recommend him. Not an easy A.
I had him for sociology. I couldnt understand a word he said. The work is easy. If you rely on the textbook, you don't even need to understand him. Study for tests and they will be easy.
This class was very long and dragged on every night. He is very hard to understand and his powerpoints do not follow the tests. The book does. If you are the student that is okay with reading the book then taking the test. Then this is a good class for you. Essays are so easy and the final is just a normal test. Takes attendance at the end of class.
The class was really easy if you just read the material, Dr.Wei is a bit hard to understand but if you listen and take notes on the power point you should get an easy A in the class.
Very easy class! The papers are easily graded as long as you use correct spelling, grammar, and you write 600 words. Tests are easy as long as you study. Even on the tests that I didn't study for I got a "C". But everything I studied for, I got a high B to an A.
He's a sweet guy but his class is boring. I received a B+ because I payed attention in class and read the book thoroughly before tests. He really does care for his students so he'll do anything he can to help you with learning the material!
Most of the lecture sounds like Dr. Wei has memorized the "SYG 2000" script and just picks up where he left off. That said, the tests and papers are not too bad. He grades fairly. Just don't expect to be riveted the whole time.
Dr. Wei is excellent and informative.I really like this class. He is always objective to the topics, which I think is a very precious quality for being a professor.
Attendance is worth 200 points.I didn't miss a class. He want to see you succeed. His class is design for you to succeed. It can get boring but it's school. He is soooo nice you need help talk to him. 3 essay(easy A), 2 test(got to study) and 4 or 5 online timed quizzes(semi easy. You should get a B or higher.
Do NOT take this class if you can avoid it. Wei does not allow any class discussion, just re-reads whats in the book on power point.
Really easy! All you do is take notes in class from his power point which is available online and the important info is underlined. So, if you don't want to pay attention you don't have to. You take easy quizzes online, tests are easy and he isn't a hard grader on essays. Take Intro to Sociology!
Every single class is a lecture with a PowerPoint that is basically just the book broken down into slides. At times he is difficult to understand as he has a very thick Chinese accent.
Super easy class. Dr.wei may not be the best teacher with clarity but his class is semi interesting. Quizes are online, and 2 written tests. Attendance is mandatory. Wish every class could be this easy. PICK THIS CLASS over psychology
This class s super easy. Quizzes are online an all you need to know for the two tests is vocab. He assigns the easiest essays, do them or he will not pass you. I was able to pull an A from just sitting in class zoning out.
Although Dr. Wei can be boring at times he is actually a very good instructor. He knows what he is talking about and you can tell he enjoys what he does. If you ever need any help or clarification he is more then willing to help. The quizzes are online the only downfall is they have a 30 min time limit. Would recommend taking , easy A.
This was probably the easiest class I've taken. Lectures were very long and boring sometimes, but I took notes and it was pretty easy. Never got nothing lower than a 76 on a test. Way better than psychology.
He offers 100 points just for extra credit Tests are easy The only thing I don't like is that people come in late to class all the time because they know he won't say anything to them about it so every day 5-10 people would show up every day
Lectures-incredibly long and boring. You can barely understand what he says and if you ask him a question or try to give input, he shoots down whatever you say. You take the quizzes online but all of the answers are online too, I would not recommend him at all. You might as well just take the class online because he just reads off the slides.
If attendance wasn't mandatory I would never go to class. Class is a lecture EVERYDAY so don't expect anything else. 3 quizzes, 3 papers, 2 tests, 1 group project and the final are all that is graded. Honestly you could sleep everyday and pass with an A because his power points are just the text book copied and pasted onto slides.
Very thick accent, but easy class
If attendance wasn't mandatory I would never go to class. Class is a lecture EVERYDAY so don't expect anything else. 3 quizzes, 3 papers, 2 tests, 1 group project and the final are all that is graded. Honestly you could sleep everyday and pass with an A because his power points are just the text book copied and pasted onto slides. Very nice though.
Dr. Wei is nice enough, but super boring and difficult to understand. His lectures are long and he gets off topic quite a bit, so that's hard to follow. The papers were easy: they're based on your opinion- so no research/citing is a plus. Tests are based on concepts, so know the basic terms. The online quizzes were pretty easy.
He grades pretty easily considering, I honestly slack a bit and I didn't expect to pass as well as I did. Overall he's a good teacher and I don't regret him as my choice for sociology.
I took this class online and it was the easiest A I ever received. Two tests were proctored and 2 were open notes test I took at home. Do the weekly posts and complete and study the study guide he provides and you will get an A.
He is a very fair professor. If you do your work, turn it in on time, and study for tests then your life will be easy. He seemed to like people who tried to do well. I would definitely suggest him to a friend.
Easiest A I've ever gotten. Nice guy. Really, really boring. On the upside, he doesn't really notice or care if you spend the whole lecture playing Candy Crush.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IN PERSON IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO. Extremely boring. The attendance grade is twice the point of the final and you get points deducted every class you miss.. Being in class is REALLY not necessary, the tests are literally the exact same as the study guide. Take online for easy A. Easy A in class as well, but you WILL be miserable
Take good notes
I can tell that Dr. Wei is very educated in sociology through his lectures but his voice just kind of drones on and on and he is very monotone. Sometimes he is kind of hard to understand with his accent but I think taking good notes/studying is definitely the way to get an A in the class.
I took this class online. Read the chapters, do 2 weekly discussion posts and there are 4 proctored exams. No notes or book allowed, but provides a study guide of what exactly is on the exams. Great easy class.
I can honestly say that I spent the entire semester in the back of the class watching Netflix. The professor is very smart however the quizzes are online and you can find the answers on quizlet. Attendance is 20% of the grade and 30% are the three papers he assigns. He isn't a very tough grader and I got 100% on all the papers.
I took this class looking for an easy A as I took the summer 6 week class. You can get an easy A, do the papers, show up (mandatory) and all quizzes are online. SO you just have to worry about the tests. His lectures are SOOOOO long. . You can do other work in his class and he doesn't care. Did I mention that his lectures are sooo long and boring!!
I took this class online and during the summer. There is a discussion every week. reading is not mandatory and its easy to get by without a book. There were two super easy papers 600 words. There were 4 tests that were kinda hard, but he gives you a study guide when it comes time so use it.
Intro to Sociology summer course. Discussion board due weekly. There are 4 proctored tests, study the terms on Quizlet and you will passes with an A. There are two small papers. As long as you hit the word count and stay on topic you will get an A. Very easy class. Does offer extra credit through volunteer work, I did not do it.
Dr. Wei is a pretty good professor in my opinion. His criteria for work is very clear and as long as you do it then you are most likely going to get a 100. People say he is boring but I didn't have any problems with it. You don't even really have to study that much if at all to get an A in this class, just don't miss too many days and do the work
Dr. Wei is a good guy. He is very knowledgeable on the subject that he teaches. Almost every class is a full lecture, but almost all of the material is straight from the textbook. If you're considering this class as an alternative to Psychology, it is a good choice, but you will be bored at times.
The class is super easy, he has you take notes and you don't even have to you can just sit there. The slides he presents in class are accessible outside of class. The first test is in person and the others are online. If you study you will be fine on the tests and some of the answers for the tests are actually online. He has an accent btw!
Dr. Wei is an easy teacher if your looking to pass. All his classes are lectures and it could really get boring, but you can literally do nothing in the class and be alright. I took him for intro to sociology and most days I was in the back corner watching Netflix. I would type more but i'm running out of characters. Take him!!!!!
He was very good. I was able to finish a whole season of my Netflix show big mouth. He gives really long lectures and there are very inspirational.
I took the class online and the basic layout was that you receive a study guide for a test (which covers about 4 chapters) and for the next few weeks, you do a weekly assignment (you are given two topics and respond to both 150 words each, easy A). Then, you study the study guide really well because the test will be very hard (and is proctored).
