There's a lot of information to be learned in one semester. Almost no homework, except for a LOT of studying when its exam time. You MUST PAY ATTENTION in this class!
Easiest class ever, she just teaches and gives out the tests at the end of the chapters she's thaught. Really cool instructor
She is not a good teacher. She doesnt know what to do in front of a class. I almost fell asleep SO MANY times while she was "teaching". Not only is she boring but she has WAY too much HW and she moves through things so fast that nobody can even take notes. It was the only class i ever had to DROP...Don't take her!
She was an easy laid back teacher. She made sure you were ready for the test by doing group work, handouts and REVIEWS!!!I would take her again in any other class.
SHE IS SO BORING, MOVES SO FAST THROUGH OUT THE CHAPTERS. HARD TO KEEP UP. NO SENSE OF HUMOR
She is a very tough teacher *doesnt let you make up any missed in class work even with a doctors note *to make up a test you must have a doctors note and its much harder than the one everyone else takes *ALL her tests are HARD and have fill in the blank with no word box and a 2 essay type questions *she is very unfair and not understanding
Professor is not helpful and does not explain well. Tests are very hard and contain surprises. Discussions are not encouraged. While the professor is often late herself, she gets really mad when somebody shows up late.
She reads off ms powerpoint no book needed for 1322 however, you might need the book to study for the tests!
She was very helpful and sweet. Her exams were very similar to her study guides. If you pay attention and print out your notes you are good.
Shes very clear and helpful!
Very good Professor, very helpful, excellent notes given to students-tests can be easy if you go to class and pay attention. Recommend to students that want to learn!
Mrs. Gonzales was an exceptional teacher! She made sure to emphasize important information, often giving it to the class in several different formats to include all learning styles. She was polite, interesting, considerate, and knew the material inside and out. I would definitely recommend her for nutrition to anyone needing to take it! A+!
I rly enjoyed her class. I had lecture/lab. She never gave homework but did expect us to study for the test. She graded very fairly considering she let us do everything in groups. She does move fast, but as long as you write the notes youll be fine. Ask questiongs, she is very helpful. I loved her, take her course. =)
Shes extremely helpful! theres alot of simple quick assignments but they all help when it comes to the quizzes and tests! I wish she taught chemistry.. I love biology because of her
Mrs. Gonzales gives advantages to students she favors over others. If you are an exceptional student she will look for minor and ridiculous reasons to deduct points from your work, while students who perform less than you receive higher points. I've shared this with other students and several of them agree.
She plays favorites. If you are smart she grades ridiculously hard ( she took off points because I used a semicolon instead of a comma) and her reviews are just every slide in all the power points for the chapters. She goes over the most ridiculous information in detail that never makes it on the test and cannot explain things clearly. DO NOT TAKE
Very nice, but makes a very easy subject into lots of work. I took her because her reviews were good but she turned out to consume so Much of my homework time! 8 current events which Have to be MLA research paper format, Single* spaced, 3 pages, online posts, and 3 huge Diet journals. Her tests are roughly two 7-8 page packets.
I loved her class, she was consistant with grading and tests. Study the chapter pre-tests, slides, and notes for tests. She tells you to focus on your notes for tests so believe her. She is the most willing teacher to help you that I have ever seen. I wish she offered Bio2. P.S. if a prof says stuff then re-writes it on the board, STUDY IT.
She is the worst teacher never responds to your emails. Will respond days later. Doesn't care to try and help. I would not recommend her
The teacher really knows her stuff. The reason she goes into depth about things is beacuse you have to know that specific part to understand the bigger picture. Make sure you review for the tests they can be hard because of the fill in the blanks and the name the pictures. I absolutely learned a lot. i would defintitely take her again!
She is a very positive professor, took her online course. It consisted of reading chapters, taking quizes, and diet journals. No sweat!
I took the hybrid science majors course. The lecture part was relatively easy; however, sometimes the quizzes didn't really coincide with the reviews she gave. She was very nice, and was always prompt in getting back with me when I emailed her. I liked this class, but it's not a class I would recommend for hybrid learning. Be prepared to study a lot. The midterm and final were balanced, and the reviews helped tremendously.
Very helpful teacher. Asked her if she could meet with me personally for tutoring and she did. Biology as a whole is hard but if you attend class, study what SHE SAYS is important, you will do great in the class. Made an A that I wasn't expecting.
You would think Nutrition would be an easier class, but it wasn't. I recommend taking your chem 1 and A&P 1,2 before taking this nutrition course. I definitely learned a lot, but it was rough to make good grades (took a flex). Her pet peeve seems to be cheating. You will work at her online course. Lots of textbook, no lecture. Learn on your own.
I was really excited to take Nutrition, and had heard good reviews of this teacher. I got into this class and had SO many assignments a week, it was crazy. I havent had an online class that had so much work. Worst/weirdest part was we were required to take a final in person. This was the hardest/most disappointing online class I have taken.
Great professor. Her class is very interesting. Lots of ways to make a good grade. Exams are on exactly what she lectures about. She has helpful learning interactions. She has study sessions out side classed prior to exams. I would recommend her. I would take her again if i could.
Definitely have to earn your grade. Do and understand the reviews and you should do good on tests. It's not an easy class but if you study and go to class everyday you should do fine.
Ms. Gonzalez was awesome. She is very helpful and repeats the info learned in class many different ways so that the info sticks in your brain. There are two projects done with a partner, and she gives plenty of in class time to work on them. She had study sessions outside of class prior to exams if you needed help. Overall great teacher!
Ms. Gonzalez is very organized and consistent. You know exactly what you need to do, review, read, print out, etc. and if you do it and do it on time you will get a good grade. Her tests are not that hard if you attend every lecture and pay attention! i wish i could take her for Bio 2!
She was so helpful. Do her assignemnts and you will do good, her test were difficult for me but I did well on her assignements and passed with a B.
This was probably the hardest class I've taken at vista. She grades very harshly and her tests are very difficult. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
All her questions and answers are directly from the book, all her quizzes are easy not timed so you can take as long as you want to complete the quiz all her exam questions are directly from the quizzes you have taken AWESome class would take her again if I had too very easy course as long as you read does not grade harshley at all very reasonable
very difficult and very fast paced at times. she gives no simple clarification and her exams do not match her lectures. she words her questions differently then she explains in her lectures. highly disappointed with this prof.
This class requires a lot of studying and understanding, you earn the grade you get. You want to make sure you sit in the middle because she favors one side of the board and moves on if you can see it or not(handwriting is hard to read). Other than that she uses powerpoint for her lectures. There are a lot of Quizzes and some diet journals.
I have never made a grade this low EVER I am disappointed in this course. This was only a months class we had a ton open book quizzes which were easy. All the way up to the final I had an A. The final was 40% of the grade! The final was extremely hard and brought my grade down to a C. I don't know how she expected us to know the all the information
important info (online course) The grade breakdown: 40 COMPREHENSIVE final, 20 quizzes you take at LEAST 3 a week, 10 diet journals (2) so track your weekly food for 10, Discussion 30 twice a week with two replies to others. This is where she takes the bs, marking down for an opinion. Laziest professor as the quizzes come from a bank and QUIZLET
Do not take nutrition online with this professor unless this is your only class!!! HORRIBLE CLASS!!!
I took her class in a flex semester. It was work! She's not easy, but if you follow her instructions, you'll be ok. The quiz's are pretty easy if you take the course online, however she makes you go to the testing center for the midterm and final and THOSE WERE NOT EASY. You really have to read the chapters.
Bio 1406 I love Ms. Gonzales. She's always been so helpful with everything, and she's super sweet too. I succeeded in her class due to how well she sets everything up. She loves group work and group projects. One of the greatest things she does is sets up like 2-4 outside of school study sessions before tests where you can ask questionswhat not.
Guys, this is a class for biology MAJORS so it's not going to be the easiest class. In fact, I thought it would be much harder. Not that I'm complaining ;) Anyway, she gives good notes and there are extra points you can receive on tests if you go to the study sessions, complete review sheets and things like that. All in all a good professor. :)
At least 3 quizzes, 2 discussions (peer review articles) per week and sometimes a diet journal as well. Midterm and final are straight from the quizzes. It's a lot of work to do but if you complete it all exactly how she asks of it you will definitely get an A in this course.
Someone told me to take her, biggest mistake ever! She's a nice lady, but she's boring. She just reads off her notes that she has, sometimes doesn't even seem like she knows what she's talking about. You have diet journals that are long, test are kind of tough too. You have to read & know your material. I wouldn't recommend her.
Took her nutrition class online to avoid driving to a 3rd campus, boy was I wrong! Her midterm and final are in class. She will give you a ton of work and if you do not read the book, you will fail. If you end up taking her online make sure to do all of her "Practice quizzes" those WILL BE the exam along wthe discussion Q's
She's a really nice professor and all, but she GRADES HARD! Lectures are boring and of course the test are hard too!! Also expect A LOT of homework!
Her grading system is weird, she grades off points and it literally makes no sense. Also she gives so much homework, and at least 4 diet journals that are long, test are tough as well if you don't study.
If you are a Biology major choose a different instructor. In fact, unless you LOVE group work where you'll be reliant on other people to do their part, then AVOID THIS CLASS. This class focused little on the actual science of nutrition. Instead the bulk of your grade will be based on group work that is done outside of class. Would not reccommend!
I took this course online over the summer. She has a discussion over every chapter each week. She grades and gives feedback very quickly, and midterm and final must be taken at testing center. She makes you work for the grade, which I think is a good thing because this is an important class for biology majors.
She is a nice lady, but as a professor she isn't really clear with her lectures and most of the time her questions on the quizzes don't make sense. The quizzes also really hard to complete since she never talks about that specific information in classes and they are not in her note.
She is properly one of the professor that I won't ever take a class with again! Her lectures are boring and don't have any information you will need for the quizzes and tests. She has these pre-lab quizzes for every lab and they are super-hard to complete. The way she conducts her questions is very confusing and she is a hardest grader ever!!!!!
She's an awesome professor, if you study and keep up with assignments then you're expected to pass. She also gives little review sessions before starting lectures which helps and module quizzes to study before tests. We were told we could buy and online book, which I did, but we did not ever use it. I would definitely take her again.
I took for Flex 2 for nutrition. In 8 weeks we completed roughly about 75 assignments. The first week we had 11 assignments due. You have to go to a testing center or download respondus for mid-term/ final. No extra Credit. Follow the rubic or your grade will suffer. She reads through all of assignments so don't try to BS your way through.
This teacher is a disaster! She reads directly off her notes, never helps you makes up any kind of assignment or exam or lab if you were absent due to medical reasons. Her exams are too long and ask for very specific things that you barely even see on the notes. Very mean! I would NOT recommend her at all!
I had her for the full semester. Class is very fast pace, but she really makes sure you learn as much as possible. She does review before lectures, and will stop during lectures to make sure everyone understands. She's very good at explaining textbook terminology to where you can understand everything. As long as you study, you'll pass.
After taking this class I can really say that I learned something. Mrs. Gonzalez was a great teacher. But, her lectures are based off power point. It took me some time to get used to it. Theirs homework with every chapter and quiz. She does give some extra credit but it's not a lot. Over all I enjoyed taking her class.I would take her again for1407
I took Nutrition flex and online. From what others students say it is better to take this class rather than online because face to face professors are terrible teachers. It was a lot of work as far as discussions and homework overall I keep on top of the assignments DO them! and you will get an A! Test are a bit hard
Ms. Gonzalez is amazing! She goes out of her way for her students. Class is very interactive and you have lots of fun. There are 3 tests and homework each week. No need to buy a lab manual. You even get to play a game of jeopardy for one of the test reviews. If you are not doing well in this class it is because you are not trying. Take her!
She is by far one of the most fair prof. at the school, but if you are taking and other homework heavy class, be ready to go a few days without sleep to complete everything on time. Not only that, but her lectures are boring and seem to last forever. By the time class finishes, you forgot almost everything she said. Killed my love for biology.
She has you read the chapter the night prior, but kind of goes through it in her powerpoint, but she goes really fast for it. Tests were more difficult than normal. I would probably take a prof that lectures better.
Professor is really nice, but she went too fast through lecture. The tests were hard and included things that weren't really covered. There was a lot of homework every week. Overall the amount of work is excessive and it's hard to keep up with the professor. Would take if you need credit and have no better option, but be prepared to work.
I really loved professor Gonzalez! She advises her students to read the chapters for a reason and although some of the chapters are really long, it is definitely worth it the next day when you can easily follow along with her lectures and understand the subject more. She gives a lot of extra credit and she's always there to help you after class.
This was my second time taking nutrition and I passed her class with a high C. Im so glad I took this course with Professor Gonzales she helped me pass she offered me help outside class , gave extra credit did anything she could to succeed in her class she cared I enjoyed the group projects the only thing that was hard was the exams.
I took it as an 8 week course so the material provided was condensed. I recommend taking a 16 week course to get the benefit of learning all of the material. Her homework assignments are spread out timely, however she will bombard you with emails if not submitted days before the deadline. This was really a self taught course.
I took this course online and I would highly recommend not to take her. She gave unnecessary group work that did not benefit the course. On top of that, she went to great lengths to make sure that you would not cheat. Which included asking you to take a picture with an ID, recording your environment, and recording you during the exam.
THIS IS THE WORST TEACHER . SAVE YOURSELF SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME SHE IS TOTALLY NOT WORTH WORST IS NOT EVEN THE WORD
She is an unfair Instructor who does not have good understanding for her students success. She derive so much joy and brags in failing her students . She is an inconsiderate Instructor we have e very seen in my entire life. She rarely reply to your email nor return your calls especially at this pandemic. Other Instructor has been there for us.
Took her over the summer for Nutrition. If you are taking this class with one or more other classes, or if you have a job, I wish you luck because you will dedicate a huge chunk of your time to this class. Lots of busywork. It's not worth it. Make sure to study hard- one exam brought my grade down a letter. Would not take her again.
This Prof was super nice and caring. she always did everything to accommodate the students. The material taught in the class is extremely challenging, and requires a lot of time to review and study to actually learn whats going on. The professor teaches well, but the class itself is a challenge that requires a lot of time and discipline.
Teacher is rude. Does not care about you. Records you as you take tests. Cant even make her own assignments, they're from quizlet. Proof that anyone can get a degree. Reads off her notes during class. Overall a horrible teacher, take anyone else if you can.
Prof. Gonzalez is an amazing professor and really cares about her students! Her tests are tough, but if you study and read the content you should pass. This class was suppose to be in person but ended up mostly online through zoom with a few on campus labs. She is very understanding of technical difficulties and does her best to resolve them. :)
This class is difficult but honestly its to be expected out of a stem course. She lectures quickly but its expected that youve read the chapter before class and done the pre class assignment to prepare. She gives assignments and expects you to do them because honestly they help you learn the content. If you study hard and do the work youre good
I would not recommend any student to take this course zoom or online. She is a very tough grader you must do the work how she asked you to do it or points are deducted. Each exam has an increase on difficulty so just make sure to study hard
Extremely easy class. The lectures are clear cut and all the questions in the test are given beforehand in her review guides, you simply have to read and study. If you do badly in this class, you were basically asking for a handout.
She gave really good lectures and if you did not understand she would reexplain. The content is fast past and can be difficult but if you review and use all provided material the class is very doable. Not a good class to cram for, you need to stay on top of reviewing. Labs are easy and group projects are very well explained.
Her style of lecturing is just reading off the slides. The note system she uses is not helpful to students. Important information is not clear. The final project is not given in time and is extremely overwhelming due to its timing with the final. No accumulative final review guide, and all the information is scattered.
There are lecture slides given for every chapter that are very simple to understand, along with review guides that have the topics for every test. She provides a lot of resources that can make the info easy to learn, and lectures very well. Also there is a lot of extra credit opportunities, along with fun projects/assignments. Highly recommend! (:
She was great. she did not make the class extremely hard like most bio profs. a lot of extra credit when it came to exams. Reviews for the exams were very helpful for studying for exams. Easy group project. A long as you study you will get an A. Exams arent weighted heavy. Labs are fun and easy.
Profs have allowed me to turn in extra credit even past deadlines but not her. I opened up about a concern. She replied with " Use what if "grade" " thanks" completely dismissing my concern. I understand, its not her problem but a little " hey, I cant help you but thank you for reaching out. I hope you do better next semester would have sufficed.
I do not recommend this course if you are taking other classes, it is very loaded. Too much work and her extra credit assignments are only worth ONE point. All my other prof make extra credit that are worth one point, hers is literally one... as if that helps???
Not worth it -extra credit assignments are worth only one point -teaching style is based on simply reading off slides -closes assignments way too soon -tough grader -not empathetic -literally does not provide positive feedback on how to improve, just points out what you did wrong instead of telling you why?? which is NOT helpful
lecture heavy extra credit are worth only one point do not recommend and might take it again with another prof is not caring of her students at all!
Awful at her job. if you want a teacher who actually teaches her class and doesn't just read off of slides she is not the one.
Took online. She was great. The final exam is a little rough but if you study it should be fine. She does give reviews before exams. Uses lockdown browser.
This professor is one of the worst I've ever had. She makes zero effort to actually- if you ask for help, she either dismisses you or gives vague, unhelpful answers. It honestly feels like she wants students to fail. I genuinely feel bad for students who are just coming back to school and end up in her class, she'll make them want to drop out.
This is a very information heavy class, but if all the resources are used by the student that is given by the professor, you WILL be successful. She goes above and beyond to ensure success.
