Creative Writing - Peer editing. Very intelligent. Easy assignments but unclear
Very knowledgeable on subject but really strict on structure
she's horrible. grades hard.
Grades hard, and hard on the eyes if you have her you know what i mean
Extremely hard; very knowledgeable on subject, but very poor at communicating subject matter.
Sight for sore eyes. her look is a Creative streak gone bad! So is her grading procedure and expectations! Its a creaitve writing class but you can only write using her formula and structure! Not a good experience!

One of the worst teachers I've ever had! She does not convey ideas clearly, and creativity is confined to a solid line. If you step out of that line, you're given a poor grade. Run away fromn her classes like the SARS virus!
She crushed any desire I had to be a writer. Completely discouraging. Can only play by her rules--which she does not make very clear. Worst teacher I had in college.
Best Creative Writing Teacher ever! She was the most profound teacher ever. The first day of class she told us to consider the mystery of what it is to be alive! I had so much fun in that class. I think many of us did. Thank you Dr. Cappeluti!
Cappelutti has excellent knowledge of the subject(creative writing), but is unable to convey her ideas clearly to her students. It's her way or the highway, not very accepting of others ideas of creative writing. Her grading scale is also unclear.
Incredibly intelligent woman who could care less how hard you worked if you do not do it her way. She WILL NOT help you unless you know what is wrong and how to fix it already, but then doesn't she see we would not need her help then?
I didn't learn a thing in her class other than that we all were idiots and undeserving of a good grade. I still don't know what it is that she was trying to teach us. She seems to feel important by being overly critical and loves to dole out low grades.
I took her for literature, and I learned a lot. She incorporates the different periods of literature into the way she teaches. For instance, she includes "Postmodern" elements in the lecture on "Postmodernism." Engaging!
Horrible teacher. Offers little help, grades like hell. The average GPA for the class translates to a solid D.
i loved dr. cappelutti. i think my writing greatly improved after taking her course. i'd love to have her as a professor again.
DROP HER CLASS!!! The worst teacher that I have EVER had. She is stuck on herself, grades horribly, and gives no useful help. Count yourself blessed if you somehow get a B in her class (and I'm not joking).
Without a doubt the worst professor I have ever had. She prides herself in making her students feel worthless and she also seems to despise women. Throughout the semester she gave only one A. The majority of the grades were C's or D's. Drop this class
I think that many of the comments here are unreasonable and are probably from students who are poor writers, listeners, and students; Dr. Cappeluti is by far one of the best professors I've had in my 4 long years at CSUF.
she is the worst teacher i ever had. She is very unclear in all her assignments, and she will NOT HELP YOU. I suggest you drop her class, she is a hard grader and she is ****.
I really did not like her class. This was the first english class that I've taken that I hated. I thougt creative writing would help me expand my skills. The only thing I realized that you must become a "teacher's pet" to get a good grade above
Horrible teacher. Do not enroll in her classes! Unreasonable expectations and grading.
hated her class. do not enroll in her courses
Do not take this class. Take this advice from an honor student- she will not help and will hold unreal expectations of you, she will also criticize you in class. She did not give anyone an A and only a few B's and gave explaination to her grading.
she does not give A's unless you kiss up, and most times not even then. your writing might improve, but not more so than with any other professor. good luck if you decide to take her.
She's laid back and gives incouragement. The previous comments worried me, but I do see that person in my class. I think she expects you to attend class, maybe that is the problem for some students.
Absolutely do not take this her! She is the the worst teacher I ever had (really). Insufficient help and grades horribly. I can't believe that she is still employed--we all wrote horrible reviews.
Dr. Cappeluti is by far a good teacher. She makes jokes a lot. She can be a tad boring, but I think if you SHOW UP she grades you rather fairly. She's a sweet person, and these other ratings...I wouldn't pay attention to them!
Difficult woman--in every area. She's condescending and ruthless at times and not very helpful. Maybe she's bitter they didn't make her fulltime?

This class was pretty okay. Although she dresses too young for her age, and is bad with makeup, her tests are easy (I got A's on all of them), she's pretty funny and laidback. Be prepared for discussions, but reading the material is not necessary. Class attendence essential.
She was an okay teacher. Had fun in class. Really laid back. No hw. 3 test plus a final. Will drop your lowest and double your highest. Overall it was an okay class
Participation and attendance can make or break your grade. Fun class if you get involved in the discussions. One page workshop assignments a week, non graded. Only revisions, one per unit, are graded. You have to be a featured writer at least once, meaning you read your work to the class.
I had the best time in this class. She liked our class alot so that maybe why this class seemed somewhat easy. Attendance is crucial because if you're there and participate miminally, then chances are she'll like you. Reading was pretty easy and very short. Show up and you'll get a B.
If you can write well, the class is fairly easy. She truly gives A's to those who can write well and so on down the line. Any assignment attached to your essay can help your grade as bonus points. Put a lot of work or BS into these and you can earn e.c. Not demanding...just fair.
I truly don't know where to start. She is confusing as hell. When you ask her a Q, she WILL NOT (you will learn not to ask questions) answer your Q! She is the most unhelpful, unclear, teacher ever! and on top of that, she expects you to know EVERYTHING. she is absolutely NO NO NO help.
take her just so you can make fun of her outfits
Honestly, I sort of enjoy the class. It's fairly easy and she's funny to listen to, when she's not boring your socks off. Regardless, just show up to class and write the easy assignments and you'll do fine. I don't know who told her how to dress, but that person should be sued... by mankind.
I'm not quite sure about the low ratings on this board. I can only attribute it to being Freshman. Sorry folks. Dr. Cappeluti is an excellent teacher. I would recommend her to anyone thinking about taking her. Work load is reasonable and getting an A is not that hard. She's one of the best.
A very easy and chill class. And i am a freshman. I agree, Dr. Cappeluti is an excellent teacher. I would recommend her to anyone thinking about taking her. Class is fun and interesting, lots of group activities in class. homework is once every other week (easy/fun hw). if you're thinking about taking this class, i recommend it. I got an A!
I took Dr. Cappeluti a year ago and it still bothers me how horrible she was.from what i have heard she is awesome in other classes, but she completely changes infront of her 101 class.last year when i asked her a question she embarrassed me infront of the class.then when i walked away bc i thought we were done she pulled my arm.dont take her 4 101
Prof. Cappeluti was so annoying and hard to understand. She never would give a clear answer to questions and took any chance to embarress students and making them look stupid. Don't take her for 101.
Please... save yourself. Don't take. Pull any strings to get another professor. Thank you.

Good teacher with a sense of humor. I don't really get all the neg comments about her, but then again I only took her for creative writing. Learned quite a lot.
Perhaps she should take some classes herself and remember what students feel like in those seats.

Her attendance was sparse, and her teaching style fragmented. For a critical writing class she changed the matrix throughout providing no consistency. While not horribe, I would not recommend her.
Creative writing made fun by Dr. Capelutti! She's a character and she knows it! Loved the class. The low raters probably didnt pass high school English. Easy A and you get to feature your work!
"The low raters probably didnt pass high school English." NOT! I have my BA in English....and I hated this teacher.
She is the most insensitive, cruel person I have ever met. She needs to stop letting her lipstick run through her wrinkles. I was in her class several years ago. When our class asked questions, she laughed in our faces and insulted us on a regular basis
The class was intense, however it was her teaching style that helped me find my creative side. I am graduating this year and I always look back on her class as a positive reinforcement for my future.
I had Dr. Cappeluti for Creative Writing and I found it to be a lot of fun. It wasn't hard-- we just wrote one page a week. Every few weeks we were able to choose which piece we wanted to her grade. She is very helpful in her office hours and understands that sometimes things happen that are completely beyond your control. I would recommend her.
She is not a very nice teacher. She makes fun of her students when they try to answer her in class. Prompts tend to be very specific and limiting.
Class is very structured & it stays that way. She can be a bit forward with her opinion, but in the end she teaches what you need to know & you remember it. Isn't that the point of class anyway? Remember it's constructive criticism, in the end you'll be a better writer from the practice & help from your classmates..& her. Keep up, try, & have fun.
She spent the bulk of the class time making fun of students' answers. She wanted us to write about our life experiences yet graded down if she didn't find them fascinating enough. She's a nasty, nasty woman-- I actually complained to the dean about her, and I've NEVER done that before.
She's very intelligent. She asks you to think. For each introduction to a literary concept, such as postmodern, her presentation reflected the concept. I think she's brilliant. Maybe some people on this site misread her humor? I never heard her make fun of anyone. In fact, I was impressed with her level of respect and the way she chall. us.
You guys she is the worst prof you will ever take. She gives essay prompts that are unclear. she grades hard, for instance Thesis is 1/3 of the essay grade and according to her an A thesis is when you want to have that thesis on ur ceiling when you sleep. Her grading is hard. My strong suggestion is do not take her.
horrible class. writing prompts are all from the daily titan, which of corse never has interesting topics. we once had to do a paper on the violence that occured in the Oc on st. pattys night...WHO CARES? she's really weird and a horrible teacher. She grades way to hard. i learned nothing from her other than to not take her again
Holy crap, my worst college professor ever. Check that my worst teacher ever.
the most horrible teacher i have ever had... english majors stay way, she will mess with your technique... doesn't grade on content, she grades on the way you set up your paper... you can write a fantastic essay and get a C. go above and beyond to get an A, good luck.
I dropped her class after seeing how she treated her students. She was already being condescending and insulting on the first day; she was telling everyone that the reason why they were taking her class was because they can't write. I would strongly advise to avoid taking classes with her -- definitely the most incompetent profesor at CSUF.

She was by far the worst teacher I have ever had in my life..she never gives a reall answer to any question and left all of us in the class feeling stupid..she undermindes creative writing and has a bad attitude towards her students as well as her own life..In short she is the real wicked witch of the west!
If I was to rate her I would rate her a 10, For camel toe factor. Even if I paid attention in her class(which I didn't) I wouldn't be able to concentrate. Bad teacher, GREAT Lips
Oh wow! Had such a way of seeing life! On the first day of class she sais that "We write to understand the mystery of what it is to be alive." And that is how she wanted us to write, with the wonder that we had in our souls and the feelings we had in our hearts! And she had clear ideas of how she wanted us to do this.
She is the worst teacher I have had at Fullerton. She tries to embarass you in front of the class.
I was so excited to be in this class because I love creative writing. Well, she made me NOT love creative writing by the time I was done. She is weird and sometimes doesnt say anything, but just looks blankly around the room. If you love creative writing, do NOT take her as your teacher, or you will not love it in the end!
She has a lot of knowledge of creative writing techniques. But she made this class harder than it needed to be. She was not open to new ideas from the class. You can be as creative as you want, as long as you do so within her parameters of instruction. Don't be late:points are taken from overall grade. Not necessarily "hard" class but enjoyable
This class is ridiculus. SHe is crazy, monotone, and makes the class harder than it seems. i fell asleep on the first day
As you've seen in other comments.. she is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. I worked so hard and got straight Cs and I'm not a bad writer. She's AWFUL I mean I can't even describe it. She only cares about your thesis and bs little details. Not the content. I can't believe they haven't made her leave. DON'T TAKE HER!!! oh ps.. she's super BEAT
Absolutely ridiculous. Forget everything you know about writing. I slaved away for her papers to 'EARN' a B on the last one. All C's before that. If you want a real Eng101 class, take someone else.
Terrible teacher! STAY AWAY! I got A's on all four essays and because I struggled with the final she gave me a B. Not approachable at all, ask a question and she's says look at syllabus or "i'm sure you can figure it out" very hard grader, must be exactly her way
Although many people do not tend to like her i did not think she was as bad as everyone made her seem! She has a very structured class which i like but she is very picky! As long as you follow her instructions you will be fine! She says she likes when people speak up but if you do not agree with her she will knock you down!
She is really helpful. She encourages creativity and she'll praise you if you're doing well, but she won't straight out embarrass you if you do badly. There are a lot of opportunities to improve here and it isn't for lazy people. If you strive to be a better writer, she is perfect. She knows her stuff.
She is hilarious! I loved this class because it wasnt boring. Yes, you have to work hard, but if you have any creativity you'll do fine. She knows her stuff and she shows you how to make your writing 100x better. I thought i was an awesome writer and Dr. Cappeluti showed me so much that I could do beyond the usual. Shes awesome.
I loved her class! She definitely encourages creativity and she gives a lot of opportunities to improve your writing and she leaves a lot of room for peer editing. Extremely helpful and I loved her sense of humor.
she is horrible! if you asked her for her intake for advice. She will say well what do you think? ughhh im asking you woman!! She is absolutely not helpful at all. She does not encourage you to think freely and restrict you to only the type of format that she gives you.
She sucks don't take her!!!
Hardest English class ever! Her grading sucks. She makes you feel stupid at times. She's not very helpful. You're very limited to what you can write when she makes you use the Daily Titan. Overall, it is an extremely hard English class. Avoid this professor if possible.
Pretty terrible.
Cappeluti has a PhD in Poetry. I think everyone should know this before going into her class. She is very philosophical and tries to get students to "look deep within". My advice for this class if you do take it is just embrace the work and don't fight it. you have do it it anyway. DO EXACTLY WHAT SHE TELLS YOU. She is a very specific grader.
Shes not a teacher that takes BS so grow up and deal with it I personally liked theway she taught its not an easy A but u will learn! her technique is very effective and good practice for the EWP sux it up losers! Just cuss she makes you think it doesnt mean shes a bad teacher. Her poetic background actually helped in teaching writing structure :)
worst teacher ever
This woman puts a lot of weight on your shoulders and expects you to just automatically understand everything she says. She it probably one of the most intimidating teachers I've ever had to the point where I don't even want to ask her any questions. I don't think she creates a good learning environment even though she is very educated.
her class is so pointless, she sucks!
I feel like I was set up to fail in this class. She is a very uncompromising and perhaps very unsympathetic professor. An example: She would not make any exceptions or accommodations for my pregnant partner when she took the course. As a result my partner had to take a semester off.
If you don't write how she wants you to write, you probably won't expect a good grade. Her grading system is pretty clear, as long as you pay attention the first day she explains it. She had a lot of workshops in class which I felt is totally unhelpful because everyone writes at different levels; the good writers will only help the struggling ones.
Really makes you think.. good prep for EWP ... Its english !! u have to write and learn how to write well alot of these comments are just dumb! Come to class and write what she says even if its against everything you have ever learned she will help you find a better technique no matter how well u already write!
Really tough teacher pass. She has high expectations and a really tough grading system. I got a D, which was the first D i've ever gotten. She's very knowledgeable tho, since she does have 26 years failing students.
Okay, so here is the deal, Dr. C. is cool. She is definitely among the top toughest professors I've ever had. Exceed the minimum and make sure you omit 'it' and thing. She goes nutz over those two words. If you pay attention and do not goof off, you will do fine. Expect a B average.
I hated this class, dreaded showing up. She grades unfairly. Her instructions are unclear because they are not written down any where. She makes you write in a very structured form, there is no creativity allowed. You write essays based on dumb articles she chooses from the daily titan. Honestly, my friend and I both suggest you do not take her!
Taking this class was a mistake. If you write a poem or a story she wants it done a certain way. One week she would praise a story I did, ask me to fix a few errors and bring it back next week. Then she'd give me a bad grade and tell me I didn't do what she asked. Did not do well at all in this class. I would honestly say avoid her at all costs.
She's horrible. I love volunteering in all my classes to get a more in depth understanding, but in her class, everything is black or white. You're either really right, or extremely wrong. Even if you back up your statements, if she disagrees then that's all there is to it.
I strongly advise against taking her. i learned nothing in her class, except for how to write the way she likes. I dreaded going to class (which if you dont attend you get 5 pts taken off your total grade) I took this class as an elective and am extremely disappointed. DO NOT TAKE HER. she is horrible.
I found this class to be extremely helpful. She stresses parallel structure in this course and focuses on the technical aspects of writing. All of the bitter reviews on here, in my opinion, are unfounded. Take this course if you are serious about the education that you currently pay thousands of dollars for. Not an easy A. She challenges you.
Horrible, please do not take her, there is no A in her class, be lucky if you pass.
She is an awful teacher! Does not explain any concepts clearly and is the worst teacher ever!
If you value your grade do not take this class, very bias teacher. Does not matter how good of an essay you write.
She is an extremely hard grader, i received a C and was one of the higher grades in the class. I do not suggest this class unless you are in the top percentile when it comes to writing papers.
She is probably one of the toughest English teacher you can get. Her directions are unclear and when you ask for help you would only get a blank stare from her. However she is not impossible to pass. I did all my papers before the day they were due and got B+ and all of them. Write in parallel structure as she went over in class and you will pass.
RUN! RUN! RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!
Dr. Cappeluti teaches writing the way your supposed to write. I found the class challenging but definitely achievable. Everything she taught was nothing new to me. If you follow her directions exactly, know how to write well, and aren't afraid to actually think a little bit you will get an A. I did :]there is hope people.
This class was hard compared to others i am taking. she isn't real clear in what she says and requires from you in the papers. Take this Professor if you really want to be challenged by a professor that will ultimately tell you that your wrong.
AVOID. I got a B, but I was not happy in the class nor was I happy writing the essays. She's cool and all but she grades pretty hard. There are 4 essays you need to write. The 4th one is your final. They make up your grade; there are no graded hw or EC to help your grade. Do well on the essays; your grade depends on it. She takes attendance btw
She is very dull and boring. There's hardly ever any homework. There are four essays that are fairly easy BUT you have to write them the way she wants you to. Although she says that she wants to see your personal writing style, she doesn't mean it. I didn't learn ANYTHING from her class, since she doesn't teach. Oh and Attendance is mandatory.
I'm pretty sure I received a B. I just ended her class today and I don't believe that she is that bad. I must admit, she is a tad bit confusing and I had to tilt my head a little to understand. Haha. Your grade is based on like three essays so if you spend time doing those, the way she wants it, you should be fine.
She is kinda boring. Grades are from 3 essays so you really have to do them well. She expects you to write in the ways she wants and she grades a little hard.
Very Very Hard grading. She is a nice person and you will likely write much better after the class but your grade will be reduced far below what you want. Meanwhile, she is very strict about attendance and having the boring textbook.
I did not enjoy coming to class at all and she is a very hard grader. Avoid her at all cost!
You REALLY need to get on her good side. She is a very hard grader, English has always been my best subject, I never got anything below an A before, and in her class I received a C. The essays were difficult to write, mainly because the prompt was confusing, she doesn't explain them well. Just stay on her good side and hope for the best.
I have to admit she helped me write better, but her way of writing a paper is very structured. There's no other way, but her way of writing. She made a lot of people feel dumb in class. She is just not a good teacher. I would suggest taking someone else and hope that "staff" is another teacher!
I had Prof Cappeluti over ten years ago for two classes (English 301 and Creative Writing). I learned a ton in the class and really liked her. She works you hard but she really helps you improve as a writer and critical thinker. She was a really nice person as well.
She is one of the best teachers I have ever had! Definitely memorable after 10 years. I still think of her methods and rules almost daily, though I am not a writer. She really got us to understand the difference between good and bad writing!
