She's very calm and articulate. She's also very clear on her expectations and is easy to talk with even in front of the class...she's very good at what she does and has had an interesting life.

She is an excellent teacher!

Cool, calm and collected--if you agree with her views. However if you are a white male don't even bother taking this class, for you are a nazi and want to kill black people and oppress women. However if you aren't, then you will probably enjoy her and think she is nice, though a little dull.

I took her class online and really enjoyed it. She is quick to respond to questions and the tests are untimed so they are pretty easy. It's a good online test to take!

People are overreacting, she goes quickly in class but if asked will always stop to explain something or write it on the board. She over hypes the tests, they are mostly T/F with mainly stuff from class and a little from to book. Also she lets you have typed notes on the test. The chapters in the book are very lengthy but it should be read.

Lecture heavy; the test are also based primarily on the lectures and some book. Really great teacher! Very helpful and crystal clear. More than willing to help you understand. Will definitely take her for another class.

I took her class online. Most of the answers for the quizzes can be found on google so the class was super easy. Didn't learn very much to be honest, besides when we had to do discussions every other week and I actually read from the book. It would be a fun course to take on campus

I'm shocked to see how many negative comments there are here. Dr. Geron is by far the best professor I've had here. She was very knowledgeable and added in tons of her own personal experiences. She has a way of teaching that makes the class easy, but you still learn tons! Also, I got a 4.0, so I'm not sure why anyone is saying she's a bad grader.

The person before me must've not been in the class too long. Ms. Geron has always been very straight forward if she didn't know certain things and always tried to give unbias answers. She is an excellent teacher who is passionate about psych. She is always willing to help you understand the material. Great teacher! Highly recommend. :)

A+++ Dr. Geron is a wonderful teacher. I really enjoyed her class. Psychology is very interesting subject to learn about and she makes class fun. She is very knowledgeable and she is willing to help you if you are struggleing. She also offers extra credit, so if you don't do well on test you can do extra credit to help your grade. She is AWESOME.

I took her online class last quarter. There were weekly online exams, which were 50 questions each and discussion every other week. She will give you full credits for discussion as long as you follow her direction, such as responding 3 topics from a list and citations from the textbook for each topic. I am not a Psychology major, but I got 4.0.

I took Jo Anne's Lifespan Psychology class this summer. I was worried about this class because I had a busy summer and I didn't do super great in my last online class, but she was flexible with my schedule and she actually cared. The material was sometimes confusing, but I came out with a 4.0 easily.

It was online so I didn't really talk to her much, but the class was outlined very well so there was no need. I enjoyed it.

She is a phenomenal instructor. Her lectures are invested with passion and compassion for mentally Ill. She focuses on many different approaches of looking at abnormal Psychology. I absolutely adore her expertise. TAKE HER COURSES!

I loved this class. Jo Ann is an amazing instructor. I was so lucky to have gotten into her class. She explains everything really well, you can work ahead on homework if you want and she gets back to you the same day. I would recommend her to anyone to take.

This is a hybrid class. We are not even half way through fall quarter and I love Dr Geron. She clearly explains what she expects of her students in great detail and is always open to questions for clarity. One can really tell she cares about her students success.

I personally, really appreciated this class and her experiences. I love that test were based on lecture not the text but this made me not want to read. As for her as a person, she was very kind to our class and calm when students asked unnecessary questions. She would make you feel awkward one on one but really was an excellent class and woman! :)

The Doc has a very calm personality. She gives very good examples from her experiences. Overall a good professor.

Large discussion questions that are worth the same as a test. Not hard but very time consuming. She wasn't very good at communication. Blamed the online program for causing glitches or problems, so I just stopped messaging her. If you do your assignments on time and put in effort you'll do fine.

Took this class online Summer Quarter. The class was wonderful. Expectations are extremely clear. Carefully read and follow assignment directions and you will have no trouble at all. Feedback was quick and helpful. Discussion questions are long but encourage critical thinking of the material. Just give yourself plenty of time to do them (1hr each).

Her lectures were the highlight of the course. Her exams are easy as long as you pay attention and read the text. The essay was pretty easy if you follow her criteria. She is so experienced and really knows her stuff. Learned a lot in the class and consider it to be a highlight of my time at Pierce.

Quizzes every weekend. You don't use your textbook. take notes in class this is where the answers for the midterm and final!

I absolutely loved taking this class. The lectures are so rich in information as well as her personal experience. Take notes in class and use those for the final, don't stress over copying everything out of the textbook! Also, if we did poorly on any of the quizzes or tests then she'd let us take notes on the material and bump our grade up.

ive taken her online before and she is wayy better in person, i loved this class so much i considered becoming a psychiatrist just because of it. you must show up to class and take good notes because lectures are purely the midterm and final. the chapter quizzes were probably the only bad thing, term paper is difficult to start but she is helpful.

Jo Anne is very nice, her lectures are very informative. This particular quarter, she did not assign a midterm or a final. I leave class learning new things about myself, or I find myself thinking about topics I would have never thought about before. A textbook is required, but we never use it. I would recommend taking psych with her if you can.

Loved class with her she was awesome always got you to think outside the box lots of experience in the field looking forward to her 220 class loved the brain model assignment! And her involvement in local community is inspirational

Amazing! Best teacher I have ever had! Her lectures are so engaging and interesting, she is caring, fun, and an incredibly great teacher! She makes you work as hard as it's necessary, not too hard but you have no chance of being lazy. Instructions are always very clear, so are grading criteria. I;ve never had a teacher as understanding as she is.

One of the best profs I've had. She is very personable and makes the content engaging and relatable. There are lots of papers and discussion posts but if you did the reading and showed up in class they were fairly easy. I'm looking forward to taking more of her classes.

Great online abnormal psychology course. Make sure to take notes, there is a lot to remember (especially if you aren't great with numbers, you will need to remember ages and percentages for the onset of disorders). She was very encouraging, and graded fairly.

Dr. Geron is very passionate about her work and it shows in her class lectures. The class can get away from the point at times, but the work load is fair. The online quizzes use the book and the in class tests are materials from class, so show up. Practice true & false testing! . Easy class if you pay attention and do the work.

This is definitely the best professor Ive had. She goes about the class understanding that most of the students wont go on to become psychologists, but she still makes great content for those who do. The lectures are like watching an hour long ted talk and she answers almost all student questions, and ties it back to the class material. Great!

She is a good professor, I enjoyed taking her class. Her tests are not that hard, she allows cheat sheets. Her weekly quizzes are not that hard either majority of the quizzes you can find online. Her lectures are a bit heavy and tiring but you will receive an A is you come to class and do the work.

I really admire her as a professor. She is very nice, personable and detailed in her work. There is a lot of reading but it's to be expected, there is a lot to learn in this class. If I have the option to take another one of her classes I will! I really enjoy her class. You have a lot of class discussions that help you understand the material.

Jo Anne Geron is very knowledgeable. She has great past experiences to allude to in her lectures. I am not a reader, but this course has a lot of reading. In the last few weeks of class, I just googled the questions and every single one came up; BUT, this habit reflected my score on the final. She offers rare extra credit. 8/10, would recommend.

Dr. Geron is a good professor. However, there are quizzes on chapters from the textbook and usually 2 quizzes on videos/other readings, both weekly. There is a midterm, final, and big project. I took this online during COVID and there were huge discussions every other week (more like 3pg. papers), with 4 replies. But she is good, take her class!

Jo Anne is the best professor I've ever had! There are two chapter quizzes due Sunday night based on the weekly textbook reading, and a small quiz or two due Tuesday. The midterm, final project, and final are graded very fairly and not extremely anxiety-inducing (even for an introvert). She was also sensitive and considerate in her teachings!

She is an amazing professor. This class was very organized and there were options for assignments in order to allow for flexibility. This class was also pretty easy and not super work heavy. I really recommend taking her for psychology.

This was the first class I took of hers and I think the weekly discussion question format was the most difficult part and brought my grade down way more than necessary. The work isn't hard just a lot of reading and weekly quizzes. I am taking a different course of hers and am doing way better now that I know what the expectations are.

OMG this teacher is amazing it sucks that her class ended but she is amazing she is fully under stable about people life's, easy going she really made the class fun always try to make crony jokes but there good. all you have to do is weekly decision that is easy all you do is ask question or comment about what you just watch but she is the best :)

Jo is so great! Her class consisted of about 1 chapter quiz and 1 (very easy) assignment quiz a week. Love attending her letcturs and hearing her talk about the course material. Very kind professor. Would 100% reccomend her and would take her class again if I could. Be warned, the first few weeks of class are very heavy on reading the textbook.

Amazingly kind and her lectures are great to watch. Classwork was incredibly insightful. My only qualms are that she requires four responses to other peers on weekly discussion forums (as opposed to the average 1-3 responses I've seen w/ other profs) and that she marked me down 15 points for forgetting quotation marks.

This class had an online textbook for free, so there was no required textbook to purchase. Weekly discussion boards and quizzes going over reading and video material. The course was easy to manage, and expectations were clear. There was no final for the class.

There are weekly quizzes online, if you take notes or have good memory and actually view the material, you will be successful; mostly open book and note quizzes. The professor is willing to instruct or discuss/converse about the materials making class engagement more inviting. Dr. Geron is quite knowledgeable, personable and caring!
