Good teacher & fun. Almost goes directly by the book. Her tests are 75% based on lectures and 25% on book. Attendence not required but reccommended. You can get an A if you know the key terms of every chapter (sometimes there are a lot) but you can get a B without book (just take good lecture notes). All you have are 4 tests for final grade.
Not a hard teacher. just read the book and you will be fine. Shes very unclear though - kinda spacey!
This class is very boring, and she's a very sketchy woman. It's not too hard though, and if you read the book you'll do fine.
Very ADD but she curves the test like 15 points everytime. Read the textbook and you'll do fine.
Easy class, attendance not required. CLass is very boring and rather pointless, just read the book and ull have at east a B.She curves well and is pretty lenient.
aw i liked jo-jo. yeah she seems like a stoner sometimes and she confuses you, but she does take a lot of the test from the notes so you should go to class or at least get the notes from someone. shes real laid back and understanding. just read the textbook before the tests and you'll be fine.
Lecture is very boring. Read the book and you will be fine. She curves her test a lot if the majority of the class does not do well.
She seems very ditzy and out of it a lot of the time. Kind of hard to follow someitmes. If you have the notes from class and read the book the tests are pretty easy. Always gives a nice curve.
I studied a lot. she said that she wouldn't test from the book and then 25% of her test was straight from the book, stuff she didn't even do in class. She is very random, and mispells a LOT of words, but overall if you don't want to go to class and don't mind reading tast this one.
Class is not mandetory; about 75-80% of tests are questions from the class notes and the other 20%-25% are from the text book; she curves every test so everyone gets a higher grade
A little cooky, but a wonderful person. She is always willing to help and really cares about her students. You don't have to go for attendance, but she gives info in class that is on the test that you need to make an A, like notes and hints. She curves her tests but not really that many points. I like her and she is an easy teacher.
curves tests, to always help you out. read the text book and take notes in class.
Very nice and very helpful. I can't seem to make a good grade no matter what I do. I study a lot. The class is interesting.
Attendance is optional, she basically reads you the book in class and goes off on random tirades. My advice is bring a laptop to class and plan on playing lots of vid. games, read the book, show up and take the test and walk out with a B.
Really easy class... tests are easy, just read your notes and the chapters on the test the night before and you'll do fine. 95% of your grade comes from the 4 tests (all multiple choice). She usually scales grades a few points. Don't know about the other psych profs but she's pretty easy.
Jorgensen is an excellent professor- she teaches the intro class well. Gives great examples too. Class is really easy- 4 non-cumulative tests basically, and tests are 75% lecture, 25% book Qs (50 Q tests). Go to class and read a little- you'll get an A/B easy. Definitely take her!
what a moron. i don't think it gets much worse than her. psychology is my major and i am seriously reconsidering after taking this class. she made her test unreasonably difficult and her handwriting is TERRIBLE! i suggest taking anyone BUT her. i'm a good student and i made a C in this class because she makes it her duty to trick you on the tests.
She took a relatively interesting subject and single-handedly turned it into the bane of my entire existence. I hate psychology now, and it's all thanks to her. SAVE YOURSELF! TAKE SOMEONE ELSE! You've been warned.
Jo is a very good professor in my opinion. Knows the subject, but is scatterbrained at times. Tests are all non-cumulative (including the final), I studied a lot but if you do its an easy A, definitely recommend her over others I've heard of
Jo is a very good professor in my opinion. Knows the subject, but is scatterbrained at times. Tests are all non-cumulative (including the final), I studied a lot but if you do its an easy A, definitely recommend her over others I've heard of
She's so sweet and willing to do anything so you can succeed. I loved her!
Awful teacher. Tests are some of most poorly written documents I have ever read. I couldn't finish a test without asking her to clarify. She is no help in her office hours. She says you need to study more. I would take anyone but Jorgensen for MGT 307.
EASY CLASS! She's cool and understanding...doesn't take attendance. KNOW KEY TERMS! Very easy class
She is very hard to comprehend, as she goes from subject to subject like its nothing.
This class was the easiest than the other teachers. Was very boring class. Test are ok, but I would defintly pay attention in class. I would read the book and make flash cards but I would still get C's on Test. If you really want to learn about this subject take another teacher.
Do not take this professor if you have a choice. Her exams were poorly written and the information she teaches is not relevant to the items she puts on her exams.
This was her first time teaching social psychology and it was..not fun. She didn't really know what she was talking about, said every term was "exactly what it sounds like" and used every opportunity to talk about something irrelevantly sexual. Not worth the time.
She is an amazing teacher who teaches only what she is gonna put on the test! She has study sessions-the whole nine yards-take her if you can!
She is a nice person and pretty laid back but not good at teaching. She is confusing, unorganized, & her tests are full of mistakes. Read the book, study the key terms, & take notes in class. Attendance is not req. but if you miss a class it will hurt you. She is helpful with going over your test but you have to go to her office. Take someone else.
Class is not hard. As long as you show up most of the time and read, you should do fine. I enjoyed this class and thought it was interesting. There is no homework or papers. I recommend this teacher.
Great professor! She's not too organized, but very laid back and really cares about the material. She also really cares about how her students are doing and FREQUENTLY curves test grades by at least 12 points. Makes the material really interesting and gives real life examples. She's a little goofy but it's kind of funny. I'd definitly take her!
I had AP credit for this class, but retook to learn material for my major. Without prior experience, doubt class would've been as easy. She does cover most of the test material in class, but sometimes expects irrelevant specifics on the test. The book is a better reference than class notes. Be sure to keep up with extra credit: easy points.
Scatterbrained. She's got serious ADD but her class is pretty easy. KNOW KEY TERMS in book!!! She won't talk about them and then throw them in the test. She always throws out a lot of answers because they don't make sense. No attendance policy, so she's def worth taking.
DO NOT TAKE HER FOR THIS COURSE! She is scatterbrained and makes the tests MUCH more difficult than what they have to be! She will throw out some test questions if they don't make sense, but neither do the rest! She doesn't teach what will be on the test and you must READ READ READ because her test questions come from the most meticulous of details
avoid her at all cost. she says 75% of her tests are from her notes but its more like 40%. she has powerpoints for the notes but she refuses to use them. she short hand her notes which are not clear. i had to read the book to understand. she gets off topic alot, hard to understand, and and whatever she say is not on the test sometime shows up on it
She is super scatter brained! Do not take her if you can aviod it. I have heard that shes one of the easiter psych profs but its such a waste of a class because she goes off topic and is all over the place. She is very nice though and if you know the key terms that should help but the tests still aren't that easy.
I took this class my first semester and I really wish I had just gotten the AP credit in high school. She knows the information very well, but she just can't put it together to the class. Her stories rarely make any sense and some of the things she writes on the wall just left me saying "What?!?" She tries really hard but to it may be too hard.
the best teacher I have had all semester!
The class is not too difficult. She does get kind of scatterbrained in class but she's nice and helpful. A helpful hint is to copy down what she says, not what she writes because she writes about every fourth word she says.
Her class is kinda entertaining, but she gets off topic easy. i have had the biggest strugglefest in her class. her tests are really hard. you have to read the book alot more than she lets on.
Is very scatterbrained and does not help at all, gets off topic very easily. Says tests are 75% from the notes, but are more like 20% and makes them super hard. Reading the book will barely help. Includes items on tests that she says will not be on the test. I barely made a C in this course. Highly recommend taking someone else!!!!
Worst teacher I have ever had. So scatter-brained. Makes no sense. Does not stay consistent to material she "SAYS" will be on tests. Just plain awful.
she makes no sense and writes down random stuff on the board
Disorganized but if you take notes and then read th book before the test you will be fine. She doesnt take attedance but it helps a lot to go to class to take notes because the test is majority lectre material.
This lady is a terrible teacher, she makes an easy class hard as hell
I don't know what any of these people are talking about. Just go to class, take good notes, study them a day or two before the tests, and memorize the key terms and you will make an A.
Jorgensen seems disorganized and nervously laughs during lecture but outside of the class, she is extremely easy to work with. She helps you understand the material and is easily accessible through email. If you organize your notes, study the key terms, it's an easy A.
The class isn't too hard. Just know the vocab well and listen to her examples cause she uses lots of examples in the test which can be tricky. On the other hand she is the worst professor I had at Clemson. Her notes are completely random and impossible to follow at times. She is incredibly scatterbrained and hard to follow. Her lectures need work.
Dr. Jorgenson is pretty absent minded, but she knows information well beyond what is required to teach this course. When she doesn't know the answer to a student's question she usually looks it up and gets back to the student.
She seems really nice the 1st day, but do not take her class! Find another professor! She rambles nonstop & laughs nervously after every sentence. Her tests are bogus & difficult. I'm a straight A student and I have not made higher than a C yet. This includes studying for hours on end! She is very annoying to listen to & her lectures are sporadic!
Unless psych is your major or you are REALLY interested in it, this class is very boring and dull 90% of the time. Taught in an auditorium so all you do is take notes on what she lectures everyday. notes written on the board are usually sporadic, hard to follow, and half written. I would recommend trying a different professor not in a lecture hall.
Her class wasn't very hard, and if you miss a class you can just read the book. But you have to read the book anyway for 25% of each test, each chapter is about 40 pages long. She makes a point that class isn't mandatory, but she easily lists everything you have to know for the tests in class.
Honestly, I thought she was a pretty interesting lady. Sure, she's wacky and scatterbrained, but I enjoyed some of her examples and tangents she went on. I think psych is highly interesting, but it's hard to retain the information in 400 pages into a 40 question test! I couldn't get higher than a 70 for anything, and she definitely tries to trick y
Make sure you go to class, but you also have to pay attention. She writes half-written notes on the board and is very sporadic. Hard tests because each chapter of the book is 50 pages long. Not a very good teacher. I do not recommend her.
I haven't studied once and haven't even opened my book and skip all the time and have a B in the class. It's pretty easy if you just take notes in the class, and reading will help out a lot. She helps you out a lot with your grade, and she curves all the tests depending on the class average. She's a little weird but I enjoyed it.
Jo is a mediocre teacher. She does not use powerpoints and writes everything on the board. Her notes are only half written most of the time so you really have to pay attention. She does her best to make the content interesting and easy but studying is definitely required.
She's a good teacher and knows her stuff. Classes can range from really boring to really interest. If you put in the work, it's not bad at all.
Jo may be scatterbrained at times but she makes the material interesting and provides great examples to help you understand the material better. Most of the test questions are from the lecture so make sure you attend class. I made a B in the class but i only studied the notes. If you study your notes and the read the book an A is possible.
Not at hard teacher. She tells you what you need to know but pulls some test questions from the book. I just studied my notes and opened the book when i didnt understand the notes. If you can't read the book atleast learn the vocab words.. I made an A studying this way.
She isn't as bad as people are saying. Her exams are all multiple choice and if you pay attention and take notes in class, it's a total breeze. I made above a 100 in the course because I paid attention.
Unclear teaching structure combined with scatter-brained teacher does not make a fun class. She is rude and takes the whole classes time to point out one person using their cell phone, not bothering anyone. Overall makes class not interesting and boring, even annoying at times.
I stopped attending class. shes all over the place writing certain things, only saying some main things, pointing out people on their phone when this is accepted nowadays as a norm (i do like her no talking policy), going mostly by the book but then adding things yet not supplying these notes. Again I stopped attending and am just going to read
Frustrating. Not helpful. Rude in class. Don't waste your time! If you want to learn social psych, get the textbook and read it on your own, it's good! 75% of the tests are from in-class lectures, but she changes the wording from lecture to test question, so you never know how or what to study. I continually asked for help - received none.
So scatterbrained its not even funny. Its nearly impossible to know what will be on the exams b/c she is so random in class. Doesn't follow along w/ the chapters in the book so you have to skip around. Most of the material is from the lecture notes (75%) which the remaining is from the book. Get the book and read it!!
Attendance is not mandatory. Tests are somewhat difficult. Go to class and pay attention and read the book to do well. Would not recommend for an easy A.
Sometimes she seems to get off track, but overall she is pretty clear during her lectures. Her tests are easy, as long as you pay attention and take notes. This class is worth taking for a good grade and some useful information.
Her tests are based extremely on her lectures, even including examples she gave in class. It is a lot of information but if you pay attention and go to class you'll be fine. Plus, she curves every test. Really interesting
It was a fairly easy class, if you paid attention in class and took notes. The exams were based off the lectures and small points from the book that you had to know on your own. She curved every test and there were extra credit opportunities. I received an A
I ended up with a C. She is a wonderful lady, but a total scatterbrain. She skips from one chapter to another, and she gets off track a lot. However, if you go to her after taking your test and getting a bad grade, she helps you to improve. Her curves are fair, and rarely ever goes over 5 points. If you're willing to pay attention, go for it.
The class was easy. The attendence is not mandatory but I would suggest going because some of the material on the test can only be found in her lectures. READ THE BOOK. She uses a lot of diagrams and bolded words from the text in her test. As long as you can explain the material to someone you will make an A.
She is incredibly scatter brained and very hard to follow. She gives an outline, but doesn't explain anything well. She's not good at explaining things outside their definition, or just skips over main points completely. Get someone else. But its not too hard of a course, so you should be fine if you get stuck with her.
I had absolutely no problem with this class. She gives lectures as she would present it on the test, the readings are pretty fair since you don't have homework, and as long as you go to class it's an easy A. I highly recommend!
Pretty straightforward, but you'll bomb the tests if you don't read the book. The class is pretty interesting though and it isn't that hard. I'd recommend her!
She is awful! One of the worst teachers I've had. She has the WORST attitude ever! I cannot stand this woman and I am literally counting down the days until the end of the semester because of her. And her "no talking" policy? Please, we aren't in middle school anymore get over yourself.
You NEED to pay attention in her class. Like other reviews have said, she is very scatterbrained. She only writes her points short hand on a white board. If you zone out at all, you will shortly be left behind having to rely on any notes on the board. Definitely read the book and come to class, but otherwise the class is pretty easy.
Jorgensen is an interesting teacher, which is why there are so many mixed reviews. Aside from her tendency to go in different directions at a very fast pace, she is genuinely concerned for her students well beings. No cumulative final or pop quizzes. Never refuses the need for help. Just make sure you have lecture notes and you continuously read.
If you want a good grade you have to pay attention to what she says in lectures, not just what she writes on the board. At the end of lectures, she gives hints about tests. If you don't read the book the tests will be hard. All test questions are very straightforward and she curves tests. She is very helpful but does get sidetracked often.
Honestly do not take her, there are so many psyc 201 professors here that are way easier that Jorgenson. Her tests are impossible and it is difficult to pay attention during lectures. She makes you learn an absurd amount of information, then has test questions on the most trivial little detail found in the super hard to read text book.
She is the worst teacher I have ever had in my life. I am a straight A student and received a C in this class. She is very scatter-brained and doesn't teach to the test at all. The tests are short and try to trick you. DO NOT TAKE HER.
If you have any organization in your life you will hate this class. The board ends up being a scattered mess of random words that mean nothing to you once you read them again in your notes. Save yourself the tears and frustration and do not take this professor.
Don't listen to the naysayers. She is friendly, concise, and very helpful. She is a fair grader and clearly lays out her expectations. If you put forth an inkling of effort, you will do well in this class.
Man, this class is not fun at all. She always jokes about when the "fun, real psychology" is going to start. The punch line is It never does. This class does not teach you psychology. All it does is test your willingness to sit in class with 649 other students and take word for word what her scatterbrain thinks to say. I do not suggest this teacher
The course itself is hard, but she's a great professor. She always curves test by at least 5 points, she's always available outside of class for her students, and she makes everything very clear. She gives a TON of extra credit opportunities. If you put forth the work, you'll make an A!
Bad teacher. She is scatterbrained and hard to understand. No powerpoints, study guides, or notes given. All you can do it listen to her ramble and write down what she says. Therefore if you zone off for one second you might miss something important. Tests are curved some but does not help much. Do NOT recommend.
Jorgensen is really sweet but her class is difficult. She's definitely scatterbrained and you can see it by her notes on the board. AND, she makes you leave in the middle of lecture in front of 200+ people if youre using your phone in class. She says its to eliminate distractions but its honestly more distracting seeing people forced to leave class
Dr. Jorgensen is a nice lady. She's just extremely scatterbrained. Most of the test material is from the lectures, so while attendance is not mandatory, you need the notes she gives you. However, you're not going to do great on tests if you don't read the book thoroughly. Some of the test questions are straight from the chapter quizzes in the book.
I've had her for several psych courses -- take her. Her tests are straight from the notes, and you don't have to study insanely to get a good grade. A little distracted of a professor, but she really tries to help you and is so accommodating. It's not too much work. As long as you learn the class notes, you'll get an A or B guaranteed.
Dr. Jorgensen is a very scatter brained professor, her notes aren't really clear and she rambles a lot. If you study hard and are able to follow her lectures you will probably be fine. Her tests are some what difficult, but overall she is a kind of difficult teacher. I wouldn't recommend her if you can help it.
Dr. Jorgenson was very fair as far as grading goes, and she does not have an attendance policy which was nice. She is sometimes scatterbrained in her notes, which can be frustrating if you like to keep your notes organized. She only gives you about 75% of what is on the test in lecture, the rest you just have to study the book and hope you find it.
She is VERY scatterbrained and talks softly then loudly. She talks very fast as well. I encourage sitting up close. Do NOT touchlooksmellanything with your phone as you WILL get kicked out. There are SO many exams which can be helpful but not much time in betweens exams. She shows many movies and expects you to know it for exam.
Dr. J is one of the funnier and nicer professors I've had but she cannot stay on topic to save her life. However, if you attend every class, take notes that she writes on the board for you, and skim the book you will do fine. She tells you exactly what is and isn't on the exam and most people get through exams in 30 minutes.
Going to class isn't really necessary. Went to class about 60% of the time & got an A in the class. If you're not going to go to class read the chapters in the textbook. Most of the material on the tests is from the book (even though she says otherwise). Good teacher, very understanding and wants students to do well.
A really interesting teacher and the material is fun to learn about. But her test are really tough and it is almost like she is trying to trick you. As long as you study for a few days before the test you will be fine.
Dr. Jorgensen is definitely one of the worst professors I have had at Clemson so far. She is scatterbrained, she tried very hard to trick you with her tests, her handwriting is impossible to read, and she has the MOST ridiculous cell phone policy. Don't you dare look down at the floor because you will get kicked out of class. Would not recommend.
Took this online course while she was working on completely redoing it. Be prepared for a lot of course changes throughout. She made her grading especially easy because of it though
While she is very scatterbrained, I find her lectures to be very clear and informative. She is always available for office hours if you ever need some extra help and she is willing to make appointments if her hours will not work for you. The tests are very manageable as long as you study your notes! Definitely recommend.
Great class! Study for the test, read the book. She tells you what is on the test and about 75% of it comes from the lectures. If you miss a lecture make sure you get the notes from someone else. She almost always gives a curve and there is plenty of extra credit. I'd take her again.
Great class! She tells you what is on the test and about 75% of it comes from the lectures. If you miss a lecture make sure you get the notes from someone else. She almost always gives a curve and there is plenty of extra credit. I'd take her again.
I LOVE THIS WOMAN. Dr. Jo is hysterical and I actually got upset the one day she did cancel class. Her notes are kind of all over the place, so you really need to pay attention to everything she says in class. Always wants to help her students.
The content wasn't hard but trying to remember everything that would be on a test was very challenging.
I adored Jo Jorgenson, she was my favorite teacher of this semester. 85% of what is on the tests, she goes over in class so you need to go to lectures! Her notes are really easy to understand but she can be unorganized at times when writing them on the board. It's just a lot of info so give yourself a couple study days before the exams
Exams can be difficult if you do not attend class, however rounded up grade and gave extra credit. Would recommend to a student who is very self motivated.
Very corky lady. Lectures are not too bad however even though I am a huge fan of psychology. She doesn't take attendance but I would attend because almost all of the exam is based off of in class notes. You will be required to participate in a certain amount of experiments outside of the classroom for a research grade plus extra credit for more.
I took this as a summer class thinking it was going to be easy. She gives so much work that she doesn't even have the time to keep up with grading it. Its absolutely obnoxious the amount of pointless papers and assignments that you have to do for this class. DO NOT take this class unless you have too.
Attend class and listen and take notes and you should be good. Also make sure to read the textbook. You will do so much better on tests and really understand the material in a better way. She also gives you test hints that you need to read in the book. Its worth it though and she really makes psychology interesting. Don't miss class or text during.
Do not take her. She is extremely random and makes her tests unnecessarily hard for an intro class. This was the ONLY class I struggled with all semester, and I dreaded going to this class. She will get off topic and explain her reasoning on why she is doing something rather than just teach you the material. I DO NOT recommend her.
Just do not take her, she is scatterbrained and is impossible to take good notes for. She is weird with her grading and does not make sense
Professor Jo is the best. She can be a little scatterbrained, but it doesn't matter bc she writes all your notes on the board, gives you exactly what pages in the textbook to read (one or two per lecture), does tons of EC, and if you study (or cram) and do the chapter tests in the back of the book, you'll get a high A, guaranteed.
I loved her! Her lectures are very informative and she uses examples to understand the concepts more. She gets side tracked quite often but as long as you take notes and read a little of the textbook you'll be fine.
One of my favorite teachers. Made me decide to change my major to psychology. The only thing you're graded on is tests, and there's plenty of extra credit. You can easily pass without reading the book, but if you do, you'll make an easy A. She's a little scatterbrained, but she gives you everything you need to know. Definitely take her if you can.
Loved this class. While this class has 3 books, 2 of them are short and very easy reads. And Dr. J points out the important topics in the textbook. The modules/lectures were very informative and thorough. There are many papers to write, but none are difficult. I learned a lot about happiness and how to apply it to my life. Would recommend this prof
Absolutely loved her and this class. She's a little scatterbrained, but easy enough to follow (she always gave us outlines of what she'd be lecturing on) and she makes the class interesting, she's very personable. Tests are easy to pass if you take notes and read the few book sections she gives you!
I personally found her to be endearing because of how much she cares. She's willing to go over every single question you got wrong on a test. She's willing to go over your notes with you while looking over your test. She'll give you pointers on how to do better on the test. Oh yeah, she'll kick you out of class if she sees your phone, no exceptions.
I loved Dr. J! She's very passionate and knowledgeable about Psychology and it definitely shows in her class. She makes the lectures interesting and sometimes puts in pop culture examples to keep the class interested. She gives you everything you need to know for the exams and gives extra credit. Highly recommend Dr. Jorgensen!
She is awesome 10/10 recommend
Dr. J gives great lectures and she makes the material easy to understand. She takes the time to answer any questions during class, and she tries to explain the material thoroughly. However, do NOT be on your phone in class or you will get kicked out! Also, she is very helpful during her office hours if you want to go over past exams.
struggled with material at first, but she's very willing to help during office hours. she's very straightforward about what to know on the tests book-wise and writes notes on the board in class, so if you go to class and take notes and read what she assigns before the test you should do fine
One of the best professors in the psychology department. She makes the information interesting and lets you know exactly what pages of the textbook need to be read in order to do well on the exam. Show up/take notes and read the few pages in the textbook that she assigns you and you should easily get a high A.
Jo is such a good teacher! Her class is very easy and the tests reflect the notes and textbook readings exactly. There are 5 tests over the semester and the midterm and final are not cumulative. There is plenty of extra credit, and she is very easy to reach outside of class. The only time the textbook is required is in preparation for the test.
Dr. Jorgensen was my favorite professor! She was a little scatter-brained, but once you get used to her way of teaching, you'll do well. Tests are 85% lecture, 15% book material so go to class, and buy the book. She'll go out of her way to meet you for help, even if it means staying after class for 4 hours. No phones allowed at all, laptops are ok.
she wears long dresses every day lol
DO NOT TAKE HER! Coming from taking sociology the semester before, I thought this class would be the same level of difficulty but it's not. The tests are so hard and her lectures and notes are all over the place. Abbreviates everything she writes on the board. Doesn't take attendance but you won't do well if you skip. AVOID.
Her class is enjoyable and you learn new things each class. I recommend going because you miss A LOT when you don't, plus 85% of test is from the lectures, only 15% from the book. She is scatter-brained but its all written on the board, just enjoy the examples - they help. Her tests are not that hard, if you understand what she is teaching.
This class was not hard at all. If you memorize everything she says in lectures you will easily make an A. The only textbook reading you have to do is what she tells you in class which is nice because it's very little. She's super strict about no phones/ talking which is annoying but you get what you get
good lecture, kind of scattered with notes but tests are insanely easy and she offers lots of extra credit and tells you exactly what will be on the test. subject is vocal heavy but tests are fairly straight forward and if you go to class and listen, or even just read the book before the test, its an easy A
Love love love Dr. J. I had her for intro psych (2010) and for social psych (3520) and learned so much from her. She is probably my favorite psychology professor at Clemson. Make sure to go to class because her notes are 85% the test. If you go to class & write down everything she says, you'll be fine. Beware, DO NOT USE YOUR CELL PHONE IN CLASS!!!
You must go to class to do well. Lecture goes by very slow, but the tests are not bad. Just study your notes and you will do fine. She usually has a nice curve on the exams.
I enjoyed this class - Professor Jorgensen is great attendance isn't mandatory. But go to class, take good notes, and do the little bit of textbook reading she announces in class, and you'll do fine. The only grades were 4 tests. She does offer a little bit of extra credit. This class was slightly repetitive after taking cross-cultural psych.
Dr. J is the bomb dot com! If you have to take psych 2010 I highly recommend her! Her lectures are easy to follow and the tests are super straight forward. If you come to class and take good notes, as long as you read the assigned textbook pages for the test, you will pass this class with an easy A. She can be a bit scattered but knows her stuff!
SO EASY, I'm now minoring in psych as a GPA booster and because she made me love it. Pay attention, go to office hours if you need it. I never studied until the night before or for over an hour and always got an A. She is super nice, her lectures are basically fun. Strict no phone or talking policy, slightly erratic (its charming?) and basic tests.
I found the class to be really interesting and she was a great professor. She answers any questions you have about the material, but it isn't that hard to grasp. She will, however, remind you everyday about her no talking and no cell phone policy, so that can be annoying. Just take notes during lecture and read the book sections she assigns.
Dr. J is really all over the place when she teaches but you get used to it. She makes us read the textbook for the tests and she is a very heavy lecturer. She does not post the notes or allow cell phones, but we can use laptops. The tests are super easy if you pay attention in class and read the textbook (she tells you the exact section).
Her class was lecture heavy and almost all of the test was from lecture. While attendance was not mandatory, it's important to go. She is passionate about psychology, and she tells fun stories.
She's very nice and the material isn't that bad, but she is so scatterbrained that it is kind of frustrating sometimes.
I had her for 2010 and 3520 and loved it. She can be all over the place sometimes, but you really just need to take notes on what she writes on the board. The material was interesting and she made it easy to remember. Take notes, study notes, and read the book pages she assigns before the tests and you will have no problem making a good grade.
I love Dr. Jorgensen! She can be a little scatterbrained at times but she makes her lectures interesting and has funny stories to tell. Would definitely recommend her for Intro! She has a strict no phone and no talking policy, but other than that she is great!
Her tests are really hard.. I had to study 3 days in advance and would still get a C. Her questions are just really difficult because you can eliminate 2 answers but the 2 remaining are very similar.
Took this class for my psych major... she is tough... I think it is quite hard to get an A in this class, but she is 100x better than brainerd. So def take her over brainerd! I wouldn't have made a B in brainerds class.
Dr. J is a cool professor. She said that in the past few years, she made her Psych 2010 class a lot easier, so disregard comments on here from earlier dates. Almost all of the test questions came from class notes ( tests were 85% class notes and 15% textbook) , so while there is no mandatory attendance, don't skip. Overall, a pretty good class.
Dr. J's class is an easy A intro psych course. Everything is in class, so you cannot access information online. Go to class, take the notes, thats it. Everything she writes down on the board is what you should write down, so it should be clear what she's testing on. Extra Credit offered in the form of participation in small student-led experiments.
I took Professor Jorgensen for Intro to Psych (Psych 2010). I enjoyed this class and found it to be an easy A. She writes all the notes on the board so do not miss class!
Dr. Jorgensen is a great choice! Her class is very easy as long as you go and pay attention and take good notes. Her tests are very easy and straight forward.
She tends to be all over the place in lecture so sometimes it is hard to make sense of all the information she gives you but you learn SO much in her class that is super helpful. Overall, really enjoyed the class and the material covered, you just have to keep up. 4 tests and she gives you EXACTLY what to read in the textbook for them. GO TO CLASS!
I had Dr. J for both Intro and Abnormal. Favorite prof. Just get everything she says and the absolute worst you will do on a test is a Mid-B. Just make sure to apply her notes to memory before the test. Only tough part was she would give two answer choices and it seems like either could go, but one is more right than the other. She really is great.
Dr. Jorgensen is literally the worst professor I've ever had. She is the MOST unorganized human being in the world, and she doesn't use any type of technology- she writes everything on the white board, and its scattered all over. It's not like the subject is that hard, it's that she is such a bad professor that I have no idea what I learned.
Fairly easy, I only went to class during the review sessions and the tests. Her TA held sessions every sunday before the test that would cover everything you needed to make an A in 1 hour. Just go to a review session, skim the assigned book sections and you'll make an A. there's extra credit too if you are cutting it close
She can be all over the place sometimes, but really knows her stuff. If you go to class and take notes and do the reading, you are sure to get a good grade. She makes herself very accessible outside of class and has straight forward tests.
She really knows her stuff but is a bit scattered when it comes to writing what we need to know during lecture on the board. She doesnt require attendance but GO to class because she tells you all you need to know. I feel like her exams weren't that straightforward, definitely tough material. She always makes time to go over stuff with you though!
She can be somewhat disorganized, though she makes the lectures understandable and relatable. Very kind and little to do outside of class.
DR. J IS MY FAVORITE PROF AT CLEMSON. I have taken 2 of her psych classes. No homework/quizzes/projects, just exams. She doesn't take attendance, but her exams are 80% lecture based and 20% textbook based. Her expectations for exams are very clear. If you go to class and pay attention, it's an easy A. Lectures are very interesting!
Dr. Jorgensen is a good teacher, she writes things on the board and you have to go to class to get those notes for the test. Grade is all exam based so just studying outside of class. Topics are interesting and tests are fair.
She is just not a good teacher. She writes everything on the board and is offend unclear what you wrote. No notes will be posted online so attendance is basically required (even though she says its not). You cant talk or be on your phone in class. The only reason her rating is decent is because half the class drops after first exam and dont rate
No, PSYC 2010 with Dr. Jorgensen isnt an easy A. Yes, you can still survive it. If you enjoy psychology and are up to challenge, here are a few tips to do well: 1. Dont even touch your phone in class. 2. Take good notes (she wont help you if you dont). 3. Go to class! 4. Make a set of comprehensive notes for each exam. You can do it!
I understand the lower ratings, however in terms of difficulty and teaching she should be rated much better. You have to show up and pay attention, that is all.
A somewhat challenging, but fair professor. Not an easy A, you have to put in effort, as the only grades are tests. She is very kind and will help if you need it. Would take again.
Don't take Jo Jorgenson. I just recently took PSYC 2500 while she is campaigning for 2020 Libertarian President and I do believe that she didn't care about the class. All the due dates were wrong & she pushed everything back. Nothing was graded until the last day. I wish I didn't sign up for this class & I would give her a 0/5 if RMP would let me.
By far the worst psych profesor at Clemson! She's so unorganized and cant teach at all. I figured it would be easy but I had no clue what I was supposed to learn AND she's so uptight about grammar-make one tiny error in your discussion board and you don't get the full point. She's so inconsistent with due dates and will change things at last minute
She was more than welcoming to questions and was willing to help and answer questions after lecture. She can be a bit disorganized at times but its not the end of the world levels. I know shes running for president so that might be part of the reason. Did a surprisingly good job at keeping politics out of her class considering shes running.
While I was excited to have a professor that was running for president, she spent most of this semester traveling around the country on her election tour which made attending her in-person classes difficult. If you're not a great test taker DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. The only grades are 4 exams and 1 research-grade (worth nothing). EC isn't worth it.
The class consists of 4 tests and a small research portion which did not take up much of my time. Her lectures are interesting most of the time and I didn't get bored. The tests are not that hard, I would watch all the lectures the day before and get at least a low A every time. She wasn't at in-person class too much bc of the presidential race.
Hated her as a professor. She was passive aggressive and snapped at us if we asked questions. Also was disorganized and I could never find where my work was. The only grades were tests, don't take the class if you'd bad on them.
shes honestly really disorganized, but the tests are easy and the only grade other than participating in research studies like taking surveys. 15% of the test is from the textbook and 85 from the lectures. just take notes the best you can and youll do fine.
Make sure you study really well before tests, because tests make up the majority of your grade! I like reading the textbook and doing the practice tests/concept checks in the book to study. Take detailed notes and write down examples as tests are focused a lot on her lectures.
like other comments say, pretty all over the place, but the material is not difficult to grasp. I got an A in the class just by taking notes before the exams and doing quizlets. If youre interested in psychology, youll do well. I assume the ones that dont do well are the ones that take it with no interest, just as a GPA booster.
Dr. Jo's style is certainly lecture-heavy, however engagingly. Really, she gives you all the resources you need to succeed in her class, and if you can keep up with notes and book readings (which are not tedious), you shouldn't have a hard time. She's a little scatter-brained, strict on the no phone policy, somewhat old school with professionality.
Dr. J is a very good lecturer. She can be disorganized but she always responds to questions in a timely manner. She tells you exactly whats on the exams and if you read the textbook sections that she tells you and study lecture note youll pass.
I would NOT recommend taking this class with Dr. Jorgensen unless you absolutely had to and had no other choice. She is EXTREMELY scatterbrained and hard to follow. She gives you exam hints at the end of every class on what sections in the book to focus on but that's really the only thing that has helped me in this class. Not even that much.
If you skip class, you will not do well. Your grades mainly revolve around four exams that test you solely on material from lectures. She does not post lecture notes or recordings. She is a little scatterbrained, but she has a point with her rabbit trails and they usually help explain concepts better! Show up and study, and you will do amazing.
Very uncommunicative. Does not post your grade. Had a medical emergency and she could care less. Do not take her if you want a ounce of sympathy or understanding.
PSYC3060 - She seems very sweet but lectures are all over the place. Very hard to keep track of what she's talking about - goes off on tangents. The tests answers are not clear and she has really poor grading policies. However, this class is not a lot of work and mainly memorization if that's what you like. I will NOT take her class again.
The class should be an easy A, but the way she does things is horrid. She doesnt seem knowledgeable on the content of this class. I believe the tests are designed to be open note but, students are not allowed to use notes. She also puts tricky questions on the exams that literally make no sense so she has to go back and give points out.
She is someone who you have to get used to, but I really enjoyed her class. If you're interested in psychology at all, her lectures will be interesting to you. 80% of the test material comes straight from the lectures, and the other 20% comes from the book (and she gives you the exact pages to read). I didn't read but did well. Definitely recommend
Psych 3060 should be easy, but during class she barley teaches and is easily distracted. She wonders why nobody shows up on zoom but it's because she rambles about irrelevant things for 40 minutes. It's possible to do well if you study ahead of time. The material is interesting.
She rambles off-topic and easily gets distracted. This class should be easy and enjoyable like it has previously been but she does not teach well at all and makes the material unclear and confusing. Do not reccomend
Class was an easy A before she took over teaching.
I want to come on here and try to outweigh some bad reviews. I absolutely loved her class and the material was interesting. If youre not interested in psych you wont do good period. it requires a lot of memorization and willingness to try hard to learn the material. I basically made a 100 in the course, its not impossible!
Libertarian
Honestly, a lot of people give her crap but I think she was a great prof. She may be distracted a lot of the time but she teaches well. She answers your questions and is very sweet. Her tests are very lecture heavy so take good notes, though it's hard with her rambling. It was pretty easy to get an A, as long as you actually watch the lectures!
Dr. Jorgensen is not as bad as people make her out to be. She is always willing to meet with you outside of class, either in person or on zoom, if you need help. Attendance isn't mandatory; you should attend class as most tests are based on things covered in the course. If you show up and actually work to get the grade you want, you will do fine.
She is not a good lecturer, she can not stay on track at all. She cannot easily communicate with her students, and often confuses herself in lectures when trying to explain herself or the instructions for the assignments.
The worst professor I have ever had. She only talks about irrelevant topics during class and when it comes time for the test she expects you to know what is on it. You are basically paying to teach yourself. Do not recommend.
If you study the study guides she gives then you will make As on all the exams. You can also find the open note quizzes on quizlet. Super easy A and the material is interesting.
Great lecturer. She's good at making you understand a concept by explaining the ideas around it. If you can have her in person for 2010, go for it. But don't take 2500 online - she doesn't really know how to use technology and the asynchronous content feels soulless and messy.
Her class is only graded by four exams and SONA research, but that is only 5% of your grade. There is no homework. This class is pure lecture. Overall, she isn't a bad professor. Her topics are interesting, and you can quickly tell she is knowledgeable in this field. However, I don't recommend taking it if you don't learn well by lecture.
This class is so informative, and she makes it so fun. I enjoyed this class. The study guides she gives will help you a lot.
Always willing and available to help students. Very knowledgeable about her field. This class is pure lecture, with no homework or quizzes. Attendance is not mandatory. Lectures are interesting and informative.
Jo is a good professor. She is very disorganized, but it makes lectures entertaining (which are very important for exams). I really wanted to like this class because I thought it would be more relevant to the psychology of sexual behaviors, but it really wasn't. It's still pretty interesting, and as Jo says, very practical.
Jo can be a bit disorganized, but her lectures are surprisingly entertaining. While the material isn't always the most relevant, the class is pretty interesting. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for exam prep!
Great person
Mrs. Jorgensen is an awesome teacher to have. I had asked her if she taught any other psych classes because I wanted her again. She doesn't take attendance, which is a big plus with my busy mom/wife/work schedules. She gives extra credit and extends homework from time to time. Also, ALL of the quizzes are open book, so easy A's with that.
I loved Dr. Jorgensen and plan to take her again. I like her lecture style and I found the exams to be really easy. Your grade consists of 4 exams and then SONA credits that were really easy to get. She gives extra credit and almost always curves her exams. I found the information very interesting and enjoyed her class a lot.
Dr. Jo is a nice person but Her class is only graded by 4 exams and SONA research, but that is only 5% of your grade. There is no homework. This class is pure lecture.Canvas is not very accurate with grades because is not info there. Little bit HW could help bring grades up.
She's slightly strange as a professor but the class is totally worth taking. It was a fairly easy A and most of it can be done on your own time. Can exempt one or two exams if you have an A in the class. Would definitely recommend as an easy psych course.
Dr. Jorgensen grades things very strangely. If you make an 80 or higher on a quiz, it is automatically a 100. If you make between a 70 or 80, you get a 50. But if you make below a 70, you effectively get a 0 on canvas for the quiz. Your grade is entirely dependent upon these quizzes and 4-5 exams. This class makes me want to cry!
Jo is literally the chillest professor I've had. I never went to class (I had an in-person class right after so it was difficult to zoom in) and just watched the recordings. I do not understand how students struggle in this class, as simple note taking and reading of the textbook got me a 100 on each exam. The difference between STEM and Psych!
Dr. Jo is by far the worst professor I've ever had. This is coming from someone who survived the gen chem and orgo professors. She is extremely unorganized. She puts questions on the exam that were never taught in class and are derived from the textbook. Also beware she has a heavily enforced no phone policy. Avoid this class at all costs!
She's funny, and teaches the information well. Her lecture style is unusual. She only writes on the whiteboard. To do well on exams you have to write almost everything she says (especially examples she uses) and everything she writes on the board in your notes. You also won't do well on exams if you don't read the textbook.
Professor Jorgensen is very disorganized she might care about her students, but she cannot stay on topic during lecture. She is very confusing when explaining things and will put things on the exams that were never discussed.
Lectures were super funny. Dr. Jorgensen goes on tangents and gets side tracked easily. Class wasn't too difficult though. I had an A before the final so I didn't have to take it.
I loved her. I do not get the hate. I took HSB with her and the exams were easy as long as you studied and looked over the study guides, all quizzes are open note, and theres multiple quizlets online for her class.
