His examples and class activities are very helpful and interesting so it's not hard to convince yourself to go to class. joab is a great techer very helpful and intelligent.throughout the course there are 3 tests multiple choice, and 3 essays that are about two to one pages in length. attendence is not mandatory but he gives pop quizes randomly, but his class is fun and you learn a lot! so it is definitley worth attending and taking!

Joab is The Man! Having taken Micro with Calhoun the previous semester, I was able to tell the significant difference between the two professors. Joab approaches the material at a rate that is able to be understood by the whole class. His lectures (as well as tests!) are very straightforward and easy to comprehend. TAKE THIS GUY!!

Joab really cares about his students. He gives a review before every quiz and test... gives out 20 points of extra credit and the class worksheets are super easy and help boost your grade. the tests are straight from the slides and it is very easy to get an A! TAKE HIM!

Joab Corey is by far the best professor I have had at Florida State University. I honestly consider it a privilege to have taken two classes taught by him. He is young and knows how to relate to his students- with humor, understandable and relevant examples, and spontaneous martial arts moves. He makes economics extremely interesting and fun!

Very easy class as long as you pay attention. Teaches you everything you need to know for the exams, which are also pretty easy to study for. Every energetic and gives you lots of chances for extra credit. I sat front row more for the view than for the actual class ;) You should get an A as long as you pay attention and review.

GO TO CLASS and do well on tests, because the final is impossible. in order to do well you must read, go to class, and go to the review sessions. don't count on pulling your grade up with the final.

I agree with the review below. There's a lot of extra credit and he made class VERY interesting, and while it wasn't the easiest subject ever, it definitely was doable. Final Exam... ehhhh different story. Make sure you keep up with the material and do very well on the 1st 2 exams... because for some reason, the Final Exam was very difficult.

Joab is the best professor I've had so far at FSU. His lectures are crystal clear and he has an obvious care for his students' success. The final was NOT that hard (I got a 92 on it). He gives plenty of extra credit and the text book isn't required. I can't wait to take his Micro Economics class next semester. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!

Joab keeps class interesting. I took him for Macro and Micro and got A's in both his classes. You can get a maximum of 20 Extra Credit points. He also adds online quizzes, transmitter questions and more to help raise your grade. He has lots of office hours and I HIGHLY recommend him!!!

I took this class online and found it to be very easy and enjoyable. He does send reminders out to complete assignments which is super nice. Used the textbook alot and any extra material provided was awesome to watch or read.

This class was so-so. Attendance wasnt really mandatory but worth going. He was nice, and nice to look at. It was funny cause he liked to run all over the lecture hall to help students out. He use a clicker in my class for points that added up to 20% of our grade, so I would say go to class. I went to every class and didn't study and received a B overall, if I had actually put some time into it I would have gotten an A. The tests are extremely lecture based, but you do have to memorize the formulas!!!

Joab has honestly been one of my favorite professors at FSU. He actually LOVES what he teaches and makes the students (or at least me) gain interest as well. Super nice. Super helpful. Wow, Joab really did have what a college lecture should have. He would liven it up when it was boring, powerpoint was never boring or generic, and he was really passionate and helpful. Pay attention and take notes (duh, but his are not hard to follow or learn at all). Basic business class that actually taught and entertained me.

Intro to Econ class was very easy. Barely studied and got an A. The tests are common sense as long as you know the terminology and the basic thought process of an economist. The classes were not boring and clear examples were given. Quizzes and activities were randomly given so show up to class. Warning, he almost never cancels a class.

One of the greatest professors I have ever had. He really likes what he teaches and is very interested in helping you out as much as you need.

His classes are fun and interesting and really help you understand the subject. I skipped class a lot and that hurt my grade because I missed the pop quizzes and his power points didn't really make sense unless I were there when he discussed them. Go to class!

you don't need the textbook, just show up for class and study the power points (which he puts up online too). no math involved, just need to memorize a few simple equations. 3 tests, and i think the final replaces the lowest of the 3 midterms. NEED ICLICKER for points. very chill teacher, tells funny storiesexamples.

Took him for both micro and macro. He's an amazing teacher and has a lot of easy assignment points. The tests were okay, but theres an app called Study Edge that I used to help me study for the tests. They even had live reviews for the tests !

Joab was the best teacher i had my fall semester. He is very clear on how to get an A. His lectures are fun because you'll get an occasional flip or West Virginia story. He cares about the students and if you pay attention you can get an A. He describes the lectures in great detail and will cover everything on his tests which are easy.

Because the class size is so big I was a little nervous coming to class but he made the class interesting and he really engaged with the class. there are lots of opportunity to get an A in the class and he is very clear on what each slide talks about. Easy assignments, explains all concepts thouroghly, and is very clear with what he expects of you (which isn't much). Many extra credit opportunities and strives to make the class as easy as possible for all students. No excuse not to pass.

Joab is an awesome professor. He is cute and funny. Gave out money to some kids during an activity. I really advise kids to take his class. He teaches ECO 2013 and ECO 2023. I am taking him for both classes.

Professor Corey is by far the best I've had at FSU. He makes the material as simple and as interesting as possible. Tests are not hard, and cumulative final exam can replace your lowest test grade. He wants everyone to do well and makes it very easy to do so.

Sends out plenty of emails, reminding students when things are due and aims to keep you on track. Schedules exam review sessions before every test to go over the material again. Definitely taking him next semester for micro!

Joab is a really nice guy with many stories to tell, but his tests are honestly really tough. The questions can be very wordy and confusing. I studied so hard for the final and only managed to get a C+ on it. On the up side, he does give lots of extra credit which helped my grade a lot!

Professor Corey makes a fairly boring class more interesting. His classes include a lot of interactive games to help your understandings. The difference between a A and B in the class is the iclicker questions. These questions tend to show up on the test. .

Joab is an excellent professor. He truly loves economics and often uses analogies to help his students understand concepts. He's very receptive to feedback and gives very clear expectations for homework, papers and exams. Ultimately he just creates an excellent learning environment where students aren't afraid to ask questions. Take him if you can!

If you have the chance to take an upper level economics course with Joab, please do it! He is the best professor I've had in economics and made this class extremely interesting. Attendance is required but I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to show up anyways.

My favorite professor at FSU. I took him for Intro to Economics, as well as Microeconomics. As long as you show up to class, pay attention, and go over your notes before the test you shouldn't have any problem getting an A.

I signed up for this class expecting for it to be very dull. I didn't expect an amazing teacher who would do back flips and cartwheels in class just to help students learn. Joab truly made this class very enjoyable and easy to understand despite the various topics. Its easy to get an A as long as you study before exams and show up to class.

Very easy econ teacher and very enthusiastic. Loves to teach and his lectures are funny so you're not bored as hell. Had many review sessions on the weekends for the exams. Very thorough and helpful in class lectures and posted notes online. Powerpoint's were pretty effective as well, and the exams were pretty much based off the lecture/power point

Very easy class. Joab teaches micro and macro, after taking macro I was definitely going to take his micro class. Easy A if you go to class, do every assignment and participate with transmitters. Did not study at all and finished with an A Take joab for micro and macro you won't regret it. And make sure he does his famous backflip.

He gives LOTS of extra credit, online quizzes, participation points by using iClickers and explains things clearly using interesting examples. I ended up with over 100%. He is hilarious and uses lots of interactive games to help students grasp concepts. Overall great professor!!!

He offers plenty of extra credit opportunities and all the material comes from the lectures(which he posts on blackboard!) so all the necessary information is very accessible. Such a great professor! he gives personal examples that really allow you to understand the material. Really funny but the material can be hard. Beware the first exam is pretty easy but the second gets substantially harder. Study and pay attention and you will be fine. Don't miss class and take good notes and the class is a breeze.

My only complaint is that economics is so natural to him that he has a hard time understanding why people don't understand. You have to spell out your confusion which can be hard because you're confused. But he tries.

There's one problem with Joab. He is stupendous! Seriously though, if you apply yourself to what he teaches, things will come naturally when studying for exams. Plenty of XC offered throughout the semester too. I went from hating economics in HS to liking it now in college. Not teaching @ FSU anymore, but I would take him again if I had the chance.

I took ECO 2000 with Joab and I loved it. He turned a subject that I found boring and pointless into one of my favorite classes. I learned so much for the class and for my personal life. This is my second economics class with Joab and I can honestly say that he has truly impacted the way I think about the economy . Easy class if you pay attention. 2 tests, transmitter questions (need at least 70% right), 2 exams, one midterm, various online quizzes, and numerous activities. Any excess points can be counted as extra credit

Joab was such an awesome teacher. Lectures were clear and he put everything online as well. We were able to miss some in class activities and quizzes with no penalty to the final grade which was nice but his lectures were relatable and informative so going to class was well worth it. He listened to feedback from students. And offered extra credit.

Joab was honestly just a really nice guy who really cared about Econ and it definitely showed. Definitely tired to make it as interesting as possible for a class of 500 students. The workload wasn't bad, just need to make sure you can explain the topics without any assistance and you should be just fine.

I took Joab in 2014 but didn't really know about this site at the time. Figured I'd add to the sea of positivity. His class will literally tempt you to switch to an economics major from how great he is. Simply put, there probably is not a better educator out there.
