Teacher was really nice, very good teacher. I would recomend her to anyone kinda cute in a librarian sorta way.
Smart, funny, intelligent, and warm teacher. She's a little hottie, with a great butt.
PSY 3215. ENERGETIC! Awesome teacher Talks fast, Smart, knowledgeable, passionate. If you aren't totally caught up in what she's teaching you're either dead or not meant for college. Took 2090 Stats from her as well. Cute, I have fantasies about her.
I loved this professor. When I first entered this course, I was interested, but she just increased the interest. I think that she is one of the best profs ever. I would definitely say that her tests were a little bit challenging, but if you are with the material, you should do fine.
Took a couple of classes with her. She is AMAZING. Boundless energy, enthusiastic beyond belief. If you aren't caught up totally you're crazy. Plus she is WAY cute, in a naughty librian kinda way. I'd take ANY class she taught.
Dr. Bihun was definitely one of the best professors I have ever had. Took her for both Psychology I and II and she was amazing. Her lectures were fun and interesting, plus her study guides and lecture outlines were actually useful. A very good professor overall.
The best professor I have had so far! She makes the material easier to understand. Offers help, is available outside of class time & just takes the stress out of a stressful stats class. I definately recommend her!
I dreaded the idea of taking stats class when I first enrolled, but Dr. Bihun really helped me relax into it and see it could actually be...fun! Totally helped me get over any existing "math anxiety" about it...Highly recommend her section of the course!
Fantastic teacher. I would take a class with her again, no questions asked. She is extremely helpful, especially for a statistics class that can be pretty confusing.
She is great! Her lectures will keep you interested. She knows exactly what she's talking about and makes the material very clear. She has a sense of humor as well. I really enjoyed her class.
Dr. Bihun is an outstanding professor. She teaches with amazing enthusiasm, and skillfully employs diverse techniques to help you learn. Missing classes means missing important test material, and her tests are very challenging. She is detail-oriented, and holds students accountable. I intend on taking another class with her.
She's very passionate about teaching and is very reasonable. She spends a lot of time making sure her students understand the material (posts notes, test questions, extra practice). Not a class that you can slack off in, but also not hard to do well. Highly Recommended-I'm taking another class with her specifically!
Interesting material presented well by an engaged, well informed instructor. Great class!
Love her! She is funny, brilliant, witty, and provides very interesting lectures and power points that will keep your attention. Tests were very straightforward and I felt like she told you what to expect. As long as you go to class and share an interest in the material, its an easy A.
Actually made stats not as boring as I had anticipated! She provided engaging lectures and fill in the blank sheets to follow along with her powerpoints. I found her lectures more helpful than the textbook. We practiced problems in class and she was willing to help anytime. If math is not your thing, she will help you succeed!
BEST professor. She is super clear in her lectures but keeps them interesting with an upbeat attitude and fun lecture style. The tests are easy as long as you study hard and do some of the reading. Her lectures pretty much come from the book but she adds in videos/clips in class that are extra credit questions on the test. TAKE HER CLASS!
Very passionate knowledgeable about child development, however she does a poor job of conveying that knowledge. She frequently skipped over large chunks of material in her lecture slides, her tests are heavily based on the textbook, and she often spends lecture focused on interesting but frivolous points instead of the material you're tested on.
Dr. Bihun is my favorite professor at UCD. I'm taking my 3rd class with her next semester. Makes material VERY interesting by relating it to her students. She learns your name and remembers you. She doesn't take attendance but GO. You will like her class and you will miss important things not on her powerpoints on blackboard.
Dr. Bihun is very knowledgeable about her field & what she is teaching. However multiple times she has added or made changes to the power-point last minute making majority of the class miss huge pieces of material. Good teacher, bad preparation
Her enthusiasm made it difficult to not love the subject. She is very knowledgeable and makes the subject a lot of fun
Her lectures were nothing like the tests. She went over a few major points in class and expects you to learn the rest from the book. Also she doesn't provide lectures that she goes over in class, making it really hard to pass. I was 6 points away from a C and she said I didn't try hard enough even though I did everything and attended class everyday
Dr. Bihun's lectures were always so lively which made them very engaging. She provided study guides and ample support material to help with exams. Her lectures were one of the better ones out there because she provided a lot of fun activities all the while engagingly explaining all of the material that we need to know.
My 3rd class w/Dr. Bihun. There's no prof that cares more abt student success. Great lectures, open to alternative viewpoints & always sharing new research. Available outside of the classroom & makes an effort to know students' names and interests (even in lg sections). You have to earn your grade in her class, but she makes it fun & interesting.
Thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Bihun's class. She engages and challenges students and makes the classroom environment comfortable. She is very helpful and friendly. I plan on taking more classes with her. This is a class I very much loved attending because I always learned something new!
Excellent professor. She's very nice and knows her stuff. As long as you do your readings and pay attention in class, the exams aren't bad. The workload is very manageable as well. I highly recommend her!
Dr. Bihun is a fantastic professor. Yes, you do have to read the book. I would say go to class! She integrates the book readings and class lecture into tests. You have to work for your grade but Bihun is willing to help with everything along the way (though she won't do the work for you).
She's a lovely teacher. I really feel like I've learned a lot. She makes notes with a couple of left out words that you fill out and includes a lot of practice. Of course you'll need to practice more, and the homework system online that she uses is a pain in the butt but when you figure it out it's very helpful. I would honestly take her again.
Dr. Bihun is a tough grader, but she likes to make sure that you truly "get" the material. As her courses get up into the 3000s and 4000s, she makes the classes and assignments more difficult. She will be honest with you, she's not afraid to hurt your feelings, but in the end, she would definitely be there to help you if you ask for it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this class! Dr. Bihun is great and is always available whenever and wherever she is needed. Her feedback is awesome and always helpful. There are 3 papers, then 3 tests and an optional final - the lowest exam is dropped. She keeps you interested in the subject with videos and funny comments! Definitely recommend for a 9:30AM!
I enjoy her class and I like her enthusiasm and the knowledge of the subject, but it is HARD! She skips a chunk of slides on the power point and is a strict grader when it comes to papers /:
She really wants you to learn and succeed. Most of her assignments are based off improvement, and she respects the growth period within the class that many students need. She drops the lowest test score, which is super helpful, and again shows that she cares more about improvement and learning than how you present on paper.
Dr. Bihun knows her subject matter and is a top-notch professor. She is prepared, pleasant, and really gives her all to her students. A student comes out of her courses knowing they have learned! She is a true professional and genuinely interested in seeing her students succeed. Aside from academics, she is a truly wonderful person. Thanks Joan!
I dropped the class with her because of how busy I was. She made the course material unnecessarily difficult by taking lots of points off for small errors on papers. I would not take her if I were you.
Dr. Bihun was amazing! She makes the material interesting and easy to understand. She engages the entire classroom which makes class enjoyable. If you apply yourself and show up to class you will get an A.
Four exams but one gets dropped plus a final. Gives up to 7 points for extra credit and there's online quizzes.
Would definitely take another class with the same professor, however lectures and notes are all up to you. Reading from the textbook is mandatory for online quizzes, also critical thinking matters! Such a fun class though, definitely learned a lot.
This professor was great for Statistics and Research methods. I don't like math but there really is not hard math involved. She gives you the PowerPoints to print out and take notes on. The tests are extremely fair with an optional final which is great. She is nice, respectful, and believes anyone can do well in the class. Take her for this class!
BEST teacher in all UC Denver Psych department. Dr. Bihun is knowledgeable and PASSIONATE about what she teaches. Her lectures are entertaining, and her tests are based on everything in the lecture. If you want to learn, are a fairly good writer, and actually pay attention, take her class. She will change your life.
I took Dr. Bihun for my statistical research class and I am so lucky I had her as my professor! Her teaching style is so clear to understand and she really cares about her students! She does give a lot of homework and textbook reading, but it's really good practice for exams and doesn't take too long!
Its a lot of material to remember especially at the depth that she expects. There is a lot of analyzing and she grades really tough especially on writing assignments and short answer questions. I showed up every day, participated, and studied for about 5 days before exams and still only got a C+.
one of the best Psych professors I have had! Her lectures are amazing! and she makes the class fun and interesting. There are papers but they aren't bad, online quizzes, 3 exams and you get to drop one. Her exams aren't too bad. Not too hard not too easy. I would definitely take her again!
Dr. Bihhh has been amazing this semester. If youre looking for a down to earth, laid back Professor that makes psychology easy breezy beautiful. Enroll in her class. Shes a gem.
Dr Bihun, was a great professor! Material on the exams comes from the book and in class, so if you miss a class make sure you get the info you missed from someone. She is a very tough grader, but also gives great feedback. Do the work and show up and you should have no problem getting an A or B. Definitely Recommend!!
I have taken her both online and in person! she is an amazing professor. Though I prefer taking a class with her in person. Her in person class is much easier in my opinion. Make sure you read the book! You get two tries on her quizzes. A couple of discussions and papers but all are pretty easy.
Dr. Bihun is one of my favorite professors! I am not a psychology major, so I was not expecting much, but I ended up really loving the class. Dr. Bihun cares about her students and the textbook is useful. Her assignments are easy and she occasionally gives extra credit on tests and homework. Take this professor!
One of the best professors in the Psych department! She explains all the concepts clearly and makes stats easy to learn!
Quizzes are hard, textbook is dense and every chapter is 40+ pages, you're expected to read it before every lecture because she does not cover everything, her modules/slides are very disorganized, she calls on students during lecture. She's pushy and stubborn if she calls on you she will stay until you answer her even if you don't know the answer.
I'd be happy to take her again. She inspires me to have a growth-mindset; actively question what I'm learning, and adjust my strategies if I'm having difficulty. Dr. Bihun gets it!
I had to work for this A but learned a lot about metacognition as a result. Respect her a lot and feel she actually cared about what we were learning and whether we learned!
You have to work for this grade but will feel accomplished that you did!
I worked in this course, but actually it was fun to come to class. Dr. Bihun make lectures interactive and relevant. I think she really cared! Fun class!
Work hard, come to class, be intersted, you'll do fine
Not a psych major but liked this class! Read on your own b/c she won't walk throught the assigned reading chapters in class!
I worked hard but I respected she made me think.
She cares about her students
Respectful and very nice. Participation mattered in sense she would give assignments during class to do that you could earn up to 20 pts in. 3 papers that are very easy and 2 smaller writing assignments Gave extra credit and each paper you can address feedback for 1 pt. back. Only dislike was slides sometimes didn't match what we had. Drop 1 test.
Dr. Bihun gives extra credit on exams and in class. Her tests are part short answer, part multiple choice. She is very understanding if you have to miss class, but make sure to get notes from someone as her tests often feature in-class discussion-based questions. Papers are fairly easy, great T.A., and helpful exam overviews.
She is passionate about what she teaches, making the lectures really interesting. She is caring and accommodating to students. Tests and assignments are fairly difficult- you need to be in class taking notes
She takes what she knows about psychology and applies it using a lot of strategies that work with lots of learning styles. Class isn't mandatory, but her lectures are more constructive for understanding/tests than the book is. Tests are easy if you pay attention in class, she connects the dots, no trick questions, EC possible always.
Took the class because I took the precursor and she made me want to learn, didn't need it for credit. She explains everything in a way that it fits with all of the other material so that it makes sense and fits in context, and her tests review your learning and not memorizing facts. Always giving you opportunities to boost your grade.
Her class required a lot more work than all my other psychology courses. If it weren't for Covid-19, my grade would have been better. She really worked hard to make sure she still taught us well when we were forced to remote learning. I really appreciate all that she taught us. While her class wasn't easy, I am glad I took it. I learned a lot.
Dr. Bihun is an amazing professor who deeply cares about the success of her students. She handled the transition to online teaching flawlessly and was understanding of those who struggled with attending Zoom lectures. Most importantly, all of the readings are meaningful. I learn so much from all her classes and am sad this was my last one.
The class is very interesting however Dr. Bihun provides no lectures or personal material besides attaching some youtube videos/ articles that go along to the material. Everything is based off the textbook. I struggled with her assignments because I had to base all of my knowledge only off the textbook without her personal take on the course.
Dr. Bihun is really nice and a great teacher. She is passionate about developmental psychology and explains concepts very well. She grades somewhat strictly because she wants you to have a deep understanding of the material. You need the textbook and should read the entire chapter before a quiz
Love her! You have test, quizzes, and papers. She does random in class participation so go to lecture. This class isn't test heavy for the papers are most important in her eye. You have tons of extra credit! Do all of it for it is a whole letter grade boost. She is very understanding so if there is an issue just go talk to her. You read a lot!
Dr. Bihun's class is the hardest I've taken at CU Denver. She expects you to know so much info that I could take only this class and still have a full schedule. I get that she wants to challenge students, but I'm no longer interested in the material as it feels like a chore to get through. You will also write a ton and be rewarded very few points
Dr. Bihun's class is really educational- it's never boring (as in you're not going to fall asleep). There are lots of E.C. available. Papers is almost weekly. Exam is mostly application questions and short answers (study guide available). If you come to class and take notes, you're going to get an A. She's very interactive to students as well.
Very textbook heavy and her slides don't help. Weekly quizzes that can be hard plus a discussion/paper. Won't let you look at past work to study. Papers require a lot of work for few points. Its an online class but has flip grid video discussions. Majority did bad on a test and she said "to read better". Material isn't hard but it's a lot of work.
Took this class remotely. Dr. Bihun was a good professor. She got through the material well and in good time. Reading the textbook is highly recommended, as her lectures really solidify the most concepts instead of teaching the entire chapter. There are some instances on the Zoom where she requires participation, so you have to stay checked in.
Definitely the most work I've had for a psych class at this university till date. She's very sweet, but her class takes TIME. She's a tough grader, but gives great feedback.
I am usually a B student for math, but Dr. Bihun explains everything very clearly. It is obvious she loves teaching and really cares about her students. She is always down to meet for extra help and wants students to get a good grade. Best math teacher I have ever had.
Dr Bihun really makes you work for a good grade, but provides many opportunities to do so. She grades tough on writing assignments, but gives great feedback for you to improve and her lectures are very interesting. You will definitely learn!
One of my favorite professors. She was so engaging and my class and lectures were dynamic and entertaining, I would 100% take a class with her again. As long as you pay attention in lectures, and take notes on the videos, the exams and papers are super easy to do. This class was one of my favorites, lots of chances to get points an improve grades.
I really loved this class! She uses a lot of videos and items in lectures so its all very interactive and fun to listen to. She doesnt just stand up there and read off her slides. The textbook is easy to read and fun. Attendance isnt mandatory but its a lot more fun and easier to grasp and learn everything you read if you go to class.
MCQ exams were semi-difficult but not the worst. She also made FRQ exam questions that were a bit tedious to do but luckily you weren't restricted by a time limit- only a due date limit. She cares about students succeeding in her class and her rubric is easy to follow and the habits I learned was beneficial for my other courses.
I took Psych II with Prof Bihun, which is a 1st-year psych course, but I don't think she knew that because her exams and assignments were insane. There were about 60 students in my class, and on several assignments, no one got a score above 93. For exams, she gave us 64 questions with 4 of them being paragraph answers and 1min and 25 sec per Q.
Hands down, Dr.Bihun is one of the best Psychology professors at CU Denver. She genuinely cares about crafting each and everyone of her students to perform at a stance of excellency. Her classes are very material and text heavy and reading the text is a requirement to succeed within this course. However, she provides many opportunities of growth.
Awesome professor! Gives good feedback, has amazing lectures -- with group involvement and activities, very fun and active. Has some papers and grades very specifically but gives many ways to give points back. Very knowledgeable during lectures, although exams are a bit lengthy. Quizzes are given weekly, best to stay on track.
Dr.Bihun is a fantastic and very understanding professor. She quickly responds to emails, and answering questions clearly. I highly recommend her!
She is the best psychology professor I have taken. She is really helpful, nice, and wants her students to succeed.
She's a tough grader, but she cares about your learning.
No matter how much effort I put into her class, I could never get FULL marks for an assignment. She always had to leave one point off for something minuscule/stupid.Her tests are difficult and she does not give enough time to write out the essay questions & then takes points off for for not expanding further even though there was not enough time.
Dr. Bihun is a nice professor. However, she never gave full marks on any of my assignments. There was always an issue with something. Tests were worded weird and extremely stressful. Gave a short amount of time because that is what is allotted to her in-person classes. Misgraded my assignments more than once, and didn't read submissions thoroughly.
I love Joan. She is a wonderful professor. She is an amazing lecturer and her assignments all have a purpose to them. I have learned so much in her class and would highly recommend her to anyone. She cares about your learning and keeps you engaged.
Dr. Bihun is very kind and gives good feedback on all assignments. Overall, I enjoy how she presents the material, and she does offer some extra credit. However, she is a TOUGH grader. I found it nearly impossible to get full points on any assignment. She is always finding something to take points off for which can be frustrating
She was a good professor who actually engaged her students. She had worksheets and activities that helped integrate material and made it easier to understand certain topics. The one problem I had is she grades harshly. It can be nice to get constructive criticism but I got mediocre grades even when I worked hard and invested time into an assignment
