Mrs. Miller is very helpful, fun and extremely kind. Class is not too hard, but you have to keep up with the reading to get A's or B's on the test. She is not the greatest teacher in the world, but the class is an interesting class to take.

She is so mom-like and cute. The class is mostly about monkeys and actually kind of interesting. It is not necessary to go to class but they give a lot of small in-class assignments that add up.

This class was pretty good. 2 days of class 1 day of lab very efficiant stays on schedule. Test's arent too bad and projects are pretty easy just make sure to go to lab. Extra Credit is easy and will help our grade.

Easy class. Just do the extra credit and you'll get a B or A without doing any reading. Tests are also multiple choice so you can guess. Worst thing about the class was that there was a lot of memorizing for the last test. And yes, optional final.

easy class, tells you whats on the tests, all mult choice, no need to do the reading, just study the studyguides. i got through the semester without a book, although i wouldnt recomend it. get to know your ta's, they do all the grading.

this was the best class i had my first semester at state. she is so funny and her tests are so easy. just study the notes and briefly look through the vocab words in the book to study though. other than that, very fun class.

She is the best professor I have ever had so far. She makes Anthropology fun and gets you into it. The class is interesting and the fact that she is so cool makes it better. The TA's are great and helpful and sometimes they hold study groups to answer any questions which made a huge difference.

She's so cool, which makes the class and the outside assignments fun. tests can be kind of hard, study facts and terms and theyre fine. After taking this class youll see how anthropology and evolution are really, very intersting.

A great teacher. She's very helpful and enthusiastic about what she's teaching. Assignments aren't hard at all. You get to go to the zoo and a museum. Tests aren't so bad as long as you go over the study guide she gives you and any other handouts. Definitely take her if you're going to take anthro.

Class is basically 3 tests which can be a little difficult. It's also important not to miss any classes.

she is really nice, great teacher. it is a very fun class, take this teahcer if you are taking anthro. the test aren't that hard if you follow her study guide.

She is real nice and helpful, if you need it. Just make sure you go to the lectures or get the notes from someone. The tests are at least 95% notes. Do the extra credit too and the final is optional to replace one of your tests.

take a smaller section if you get the chance (as opposed to the big lecture). get ready for zoo time and museum trips.

Go 2 the zoo & museum for this class. Tests are easy if you study the terms she gives-- no surprises. Interesting class! She's WILD about monkeys and it was a nice humor break twice a week! My TA was Molly Sirota-- & she was the best, GET HER!

EASY A!!! I never thought thought I could get an A in college. One of the nicest ladies I have ever met. Plenty of oppurtunities for extra credit. Three out of the four tests count. Zoo and museum trips. GA's do all the grading. Try to get Jason. What more from a class do you want? GPA BOOSTER!!!

Probably one of the easiest and most fun class I had in collegeso far. Study for tests with the TA's and do her crosswords and you'll be fine. Easy A.

do the e.c., it helps a lot. she's a really good teacher. makes the class interesting. good sense of humor. good attitude towards teaching. tests are pretty easy. go to class cause there's usually 5 point assignments and even though it seems like a little, they add up. the zoo and museum proj are easy. no quizzes really. take her class!!!

good professor. this class is great for people who don't like to go to class. i almost never went to lecture, i only went to the once a week discussion class and i got an A. only 3 tests and the final is optional, along with fun projects like going to the zoo. the course itself is actually pretty interesting.

Very easy A. She is very entertaining, and makes lecture interesting. Do the extra credit, it helps your grade alot. She gives a study guide for each test, make sure you know everything on it and you will ace the tests, there aren't any trick questions, very straight foreword. I Definetly recommend this class.

It is very easy to get a good grade in this class. Professor Miller is really nice and funny, making lectures easy to attend. A lot of "busy work" is involved. There are three exams, but if you miss one, the optional final can be used in its place. There are also two small projects, and weekly lab work. Give blood for 25 extra credit points!

her lectures are not boring at all, in fact i enjoyed going to them as she always had stories to tell us. breakout session was super easy. we basically watched videos and filled out questions on them. the tests are pretty easy, but study those hominid charts! zoo + museum of man project aren't that hard. + extra credit take this class!

I had her three times a week in a smaller class and she was a good lecturer and a very nice person. I rarely made it to the class, therefore i missed a lot of points which would have been easy but i still pulled off a B; highly recommend the class. 3/5 of the grade are based on tests which are not hard - the class average was always at least 70-75

I took her class my 1st semester as a freshmen. She was the best! Really easy, but you have to keep up with assignments, and study. She gives a study guide. By far one of the best professor's i've had at State. She finds ways to connect with the students and keep them engaged in the class. She is very passionate about what she teaches and she keeps the class fun, which makes learning a breeze. Optional finals are nice too. Definitely take her.

She is such a great and awesome professor! One of the best I've had so far. Really knows a lot about Anthropology and cares a lot for her students. She makes lectures interesting (shares some of her own personal stories) and even enjoyable at times! Attending lectures and labs and it'll be a breeze.

Super easy class. At one point I was over 100%. Will drop lowest test grade so the final is optional. Interesting lectures and labs. If you take good notes, do the extra credit, study your homonid chart an A is almost garunteed. Even with hundreds of students, she was good about returning emails.

super easy class, i didn't go to lecture and didn't take the final and still got an A. Just go to small group and cram for the test a couple days before hand and you'll do fine. extra credit is way easy too and it boosts your grade 5%

She knows alot about what she teaching. Either go to class everyday (which are actually not that bad to sit through) and take notes or read the book. Either way its an easy A if you study.

Very passionate about anthro which makes it easier to learn and understand. Gives study guides, and you can expect nothing more on the test than the study guide. Wonderful Wonderful...wish i had her every semester. Plus you get to go to the Zoo! Interacts with the students which is a plus. Love the monkey noises. :)

Wonderful professor, she is very energetic and cares about her students! Gives extra credit that can boost your grade at least 6%! Lectures are fairly interesting, especially when she makes her Monkey noises! Highly recommended! I received an A with little effort!

I loved this class. She and the subject were interesting. Labs are basically participation points. Tests are mostly based off her lecture slides and are not very difficult.

This class was pretty legit. Most of the material on the tests were from the slides and breakout sessions. Only thing was, you had to memorize quite a bit. Extra credit definitely helps and Miller made the lectures interesting. Good overall class.

Took this class because I was hoping it would be interesting. I missed a lot of lecture and it killed my grade. Go to breakout because that is where you earn points, and lecture is where you learn. The class is all about the breakout teacher so hope you're lucky because you have no control. Maggie is a good breakout teacher!

Take this instead of Bio for your life science requirement!!! I did and it was the best decision I've made in a long time. Very easy...and interesting. I usually don't like GE's but this one is an exception. Generous opportunities for extra credit.

Prof Miller is very passionate about what she teachers, and makes her lectures interesting. Attendance is mandatory for breakout sessions. Her tests are IMPOSSIBLE, i couldnt figure out what was ever going to be on an exam. Got D's on all three, a hundred percent on everything else, and only got a B+ She offers a bunch of extra credit tho

Class is pretty fun. Mrs. Miller keeps it light and entertaining. Clickers are easy points, and the extra credit helps a ton. Tests were wayyy harder than they should have been (must study). But overall, a must take for GE. Anyone should be able to get at least a B+/A-.

Probably my favorite class this semester. If you plan on taking alot of difficult classes and need a GE, take this. She is pretty entertaining and the subject was interesting. The tests weren't that hard as long as you study the study guide she gives, you should be fine. Do the extra credit!

The class was boring at times, but she did her best to keep it entertaining. She has a really good sense of humor, but she shows a lot of films during some parts. The test weren't too bad and the projects are super easy.

Miller is an extremely sweet lady. She was a great teacher, totally understood how to approach students with material. This was by FARR my favorite class last semester. Super easy if you study flashcards/powerpoint slides. After extra credit I had a 99% in the class. Go to class, get the clicker pts and you'll ace it!! Take her!

She's helpful & friendly so don't be afraid with her team of grad students. Tests get harder as time passes. Projects are worth pts.Go to class because you use clickers & it is beneficial for your grade. READ THE BOOK, some stuff that is on the test, she does not go over. Have a buddy to provide you with notes if you are not able to come to class.

I don't know what class these disapproving people were going to but it wasn't Miller's. Miller is great! Really fun and light-hearted lady, she loves what she does. Easy class. The only bad thing was stupid clickers, don't lose them! I lost mine and couldn't afford to replace it. You need them every class and EXAMS.

Class is not mandatory but you have clicker points so i would go. you dont really need the book; her slides are KEY to passing the class. tests aren't too bad but you need to study for them. i wouldnt say this class is easy, you need to study and work hard for a good grade

You must show up to class because she does little quizzes that do add up. the tests are easy, most of the movies were interesting. You have to read the book in the first two weeks and write a couple of papers but other than that it is really easy, do not skip if you want an A

Very nice teacher, she came to class with a lot of energy at 9 o'clock in the morning. She made it interesting, too. I would recommend her to anyone about to take Anthro 101. Just take notes at lecture, bring your clicker, and skim through the book.

pretty easy class. just go to class and get all the clicker points. be sure to do all the extra credit stuff too, it really pays off. I ended up with an A- because I didn't study at all and I skipped quite a few classes, but I should have easily gotten an A.

Cool prof. Easy class. You watch movies and then talk about the movies you watched. Easy "A" if you don't miss any classes. 2 five page papers. Do the extra credit. It's usually early when you don't think you'll need it, but it bumped me up a grade.

Definitely an easy class, good way to get an easy credit. I liked Miller, she was fun. Sometimes she got a little preachy and tended to sway off-topic. Class would usually start late. Easy and interesting, if sometimes a little annoying.

Go to class for clicker points because they are totally worth it. Print out the slides with 3 on each page so you could write notes on the side and you should be totally fine =)

The material was so interesting. She makes good class discussions, tries to keep everyone participating, has some really interesting things to say and life stories to tell. She is a very dedicated and passionate professor. Read... it's a lot of catching up and she'll know if you didn't.

Personality wise, I couldn't stand her. Knew her stuff but she always seemed so frazzled when it came to being organized. Showed up 5 minutes late to class often so it would take about 15 minutes to actually go over material. If you take her, read the book, look over her slides, go to class for clicker points and study EXTRA hard for the last test.

I personally thought she was hilarious. Although she may go off on tangents every once in awhile, somehow she incorporates it into the lesson which is impressive. She knows her stuff and it was an awesome experience. Midterms and final were challenging, but she gives you a study guide and all PPTs are posted online. Must go for clicker points!!

I had no interest in Anthro until taking Miller's class last summer. I wanted to switch my major to Anthro halfway through the class. Pretty easy class. She's available in office hours to help you. Funny, sweet, good teacher.

unorganized, wouldn't start lecture until 15 min after class started, barely covers material, talks mostly about personal life/experiences. says that study guide covers what will be on the test, but the study guide got me a C on every test. never know when she will do clicker questions. zoo project is cool. she's so nice but all over the place.

super easy teacher. when she finally did get the class started, after stalling with funny stories, her lectures were well taught and very interesting. All quizzes were online and there were a lot of technical difficulties but she would usually let us all take it again. there wasn't a final and class was not mandatory. I loved this class. RECOMMEND

Joan is AWESOME! She picks very interesting movies to watch. There are quizzes most classes which are easy as long as you watched the movie, easy points. 2 tests. 1 essay that is easy and fun. I would take this class with joan!

Great teacher! Assignments and instructions unclear at times. Make sure you know deadlines for all quizzes. Everything pretty much online! 30 points of extra credit possible. WORK ON QUIZZES IN GROUPS and you'll do great!

Rest in Peace, Professor Joan Miller. I have never, ever enjoyed a 9 am class until attending yours. I'm not a science person and you truly made anthropology fun and easy to learn. I am still overwhelmed by your loss and truly miss seeing your smiling, happy face every other morning. You were one of my favorite teachers.
