Word of advice..If you dont understand something dont even bother asking a question, she will NOT take the time to go back and explaine anything! I dont recommend her as a professor she does not care if you understand the information!
I would not reccomend Silver as a professor. 321 is a difficult class as it is, she does not make any effort to explain things to you. She tests you on random things that she may have barely skimmed through the week before. Difficult and vague.
She was on time this semester and very fair. Her assignments were reasonable, not nearly as demanding as some other professors. She gives a lot of great handouts with worthwhile info, and if you study them, you'll do well on her tests.

I understand special education for the first time

No help at all, don't bother to ask her questions, she hates all lesson plans, you can get A's in one class and C's in hers. So many handouts, it was a wate of time, unless you like to learn about her "daughter"

Ok...is this course about kindergarten or her daughter? Very disorganized, No exam reviews, will HATE all your lesson plans...
She is very FLAKEY but she is ok...No clues as to whats on her tests...but not so bad. Will talk the whole time about Victoria...her adopted daughter...But...she is in Kindergarten...so I guess thats good.
I'm able to write a very clear lesson plan. I can't believe what the others said. She only mentions Victoria when applicable to the class as an example.
Very knowledgable and helpful. You're lucky if you get her for seminar.
Her tests are long, but fair. I really learned alot.
This professor was the worst one I EVER had. She was very unprofessional and not helpful at all. She gave very rude comments to the students and made you feel stupid. I am very unhappy with this professor and my experience in this class.
As long as you went to class and read the book you will do GREAT. Final was pretty easy.

This professor was very friendly. I didn't expect her tests to be so long, but they were fair. She gave help during the quizzes, sometimes in the form of a question, but it made you thingk of the answer.
Everyone told me this was the hardest class. It is the most interesting and not that hard. Just go to class. Dr. silver is smart and interesting.
Very good professor. Answers questions about assignments, appreciates hard work. Class was interesting and she has a good sense of humor. Take her, it will bring sunshine to your day.

She is a good teacher. Knows her stuff very well, but can't really teach. She'll answer a question with a question and look at you like stupid for not knowing the answer. You will get frustrated in her class. I wouldn't recommend taking her.
she LOST the grade book. she FORGOT she was giving a final and didnt show up until 2 hours after the test was to start..we had to call her cell and get her out of bed to come... we had to listen to her psychological issues all semester...the final was atrocious.. it made NO sense. she is HOrRIBLE!

Horrible teacher. She is the most arrogant human being i've ever met. She's always late and keeps you into common hour. Oh, and thanks for telling us about the 20 hrs we needed!

She is not a good teacher!!! She lost her gradebook and is mean to many students. She expects everone to be highly prfessional, but she is not professional at all!! Try to avoid her!!
Secondary Ed majors beware! She never told us we had to do 20 hours of field work last semester, tried to assign us an abstract the last week of classes and then lost her grade book. She expects people to come to the class with prior knowledge of the subject.
avoid if possible! this "teacher" was always late, didn't get through all the class material b/c of it so we wound up cramming the last day of class! she is VERY unorganized. gives me grey hair just thinking about it!
She is nice and friendly. There is no such course as 323. Her grades are fair and she covered everything in time. Take her and enjoy
Dr. Silver is an awful professor. She is rude and arrogant. It scares me to think that she once taught young children. Stay away from her, unless you like the feeling of being belittled.
silver is a HORRIBLE, and I repeat HORRIBLE professor! DO NOT take her. I am seriously looking out for your best interest. If you would like to get through the semester with one less migraine, DON'T TAKE HER! She belittles student and is very sarcastic and nasty!
If you want a professor who won't pressure you and will help you-as long as you come to her, Dr. Silver is great. She gives you as much time as you need, and will proofread overnight. TAke her.

How can anyone possibly have anything positive to say about Dr. Silver?She is the most unprofessional,nasty&discouraging woman ever. Dr. Silver was so encouraging and nice. She treated the class like professionals. I found her to be a wonderful end to a wonderful college experience. IF you are a poor ST she won't give you an A.
She was absolutely awful. As a student concerened about her grades, when I approached her,she basically told me that some students are just not as smart as others. (Not very encouraging at all!) She rolls her eyes and acts as if every question is not up to her level. She was constantly late and seemed to play favorites. Not happy w/ her at all!

I would not take her again for the reason that I can honestly say I did not learn ANYTHING in her class.She is very picky about the way you answer eassy questions.Her tests are ridiculous.The questions seem to come from no where.The projects are helpful for the future but other then that you don't learn much of anything.She is a nice person though.
Very smart woman who knows what she is looking for from her students. I liked her a lot. She doesn't like stupid questions. If you can't keep up with her she doesn't wait.
I took her for Thesis, and I thought she was extremely helpful. It seems to me that if you do your work you won't have a problem with her. If you want to slack off, not do your work, or waste her time, she should get mad. You are here to do your work, thats what she expects. I liked her a lot and if you do what you are supposed to, you will too.
Dr. Silver is not helpful at all, the class itself is a lot of work and she doesn't make it any easier on us. She doesn't review at all for the final! According to her we've been "reviewing" for the final since the first day of the semester....if you plan on taking her 3 hr. class be prepared to stay the whole 3 hrs. if not a few mintues extra!!
Probably one of the worst professors in the history of college. She doesn't teach; just shares stories and plays films. DOES NOT REVIEW FOR ANYTHING!! Brace yourself because her quizzes and final are among the gayest**** ever. AND GUESS WHAT! Yup, No reviews everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. She sucks. That's all I learned.
Great professor. She is always willing to help, I took statistics but didn't understand it until I took her. If you want to learn enroll in her class. She might not make it easy, but you will really learn.
This is the first time I've ever written about a teacher, she is sooooo horrible that I had to try and save someone else from the misery. I can't believe I'm in the same class. Dr. Silver is one of the best professors I ever had. She knows alot, makes class interesting, and is very very very nice and helpful. She gives you as long as you need for assignments as long as you have a reason. I will take her again. Not an easy A, but you can earn an A.
i have never had a worse professor IN MY LIFE!! she's useless and boring, and we don't do anything but listen to her ramble about nothing. her tests are takehome because she's lazy (the only good part of the class) DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU CAN AT ALL HELP IT. to make things worse, her voice is like nails on a chalkboard. 2 hours of that is torture!!
If you want to get through school and still feel good about yourself and your abilities as a future teacher, then please don't take her classes. She is condisending and rude. Foctor Silver was a joy. She was interested in everyone in the class as a person and as a professional. This class was taught in a unique fashion and was the best class I ever took at St. Joe's.
She is a horrid woman. She doesn't believe in teaching, she just sits there while we teach ourselves and only has negative things to say with absolutely no hint constructive criticism. Before class, after class, and during break all of her students unite in their hatred of her lack on teaching and horrible interpersonal skills.
Very rude, she bases her grades on pretty much just class participation and how she felt someone reflected from class in their papers, which by the looks of it everyone she get an A, right? wrong! She doesnt care, just beware if you ever have to take her. Or try not to take her at all.
I had Dr. Silver for this class, and found her to be a very creative and thoughtful teacher. The grades were based on reflection papers, but, the class was reflective teaching. Duh? I'm glad I took this teacher. If you want to learn how to be a great teacher, take Dr. Silver. I'm glad I did.

Dr. Silver was great. She knows a lot about almost everything. She wants her students to work and be self-l;earners. Almost everyone got As. If you don't get an A it si because you don't do the work. Take her you can learn a lot and feel good about your grade.
Do yourself a favor by not taking her class. She was so rude and very degrading. Made rude comments about our class. Everyone in the class agreed that she was a terrible professor. Not a nice woman at all. I walk the other way when i see her.
Dr Silver is an awesome professor and a great woman. I have taken three of her classes on the graduate level and she is by far my favorite teacher. She has a great sense of humor and really knows a lot. Give her a chance - when you grow up you'll appreciate her.

Rude. She changes the schedule constantly, currently 3 large projects due on the same day and a 4th project the week after. She cares more about presentation then content and knows very little about the content she is teaching. She will ask for your opinion and respond 'too bad.' Do not trust her she will do anything to prove a prove a point.

I am shocked by all the negative feedback... I really enjoyed her class. You definitely have to read the textbook, but that is because the take home tests are based off of it. Some of the take home tests are clearly unorganized, but overall very easy. This class is perfect for a grad student that is a substitute teacher during the day.
I wish arrogant and condescending were descriptive choices. She is never wrong and will argue a point continuously. Constantly shows up 20 or so minutes late to class and then releases the class late. Totally inconsiderate and rude. Has an attitude about everything. Doesn't let you text in class. Stickler for attendance. Never taking again.
This is probably the most boring child study class Ive ever taken. She is rude and condescending. You learn more about her personal life than anything and theres no review or preparation for any test or quiz.
This is the first Child Study professor I have learned from. You must attend class to keep up, but it is worth it.
Not the worst but not good. This is a class where you do have to put in a lot of work, which is okay. Here is where I had a problem with her: She does not give clear instructions for assignments, doesn't help when you email her, when grading doesn't give clear feedback so you don't really know what you need to improve on.

DO NOT TAKE HER. She asks questions but will always find a way for your answer to be wrong. She will fight you until she’s blue in the face to prove her points. She assigns lots of work but doesn’t explain it at all. You’re pretty much on your own.

I would recommend anyone to Dr.Silver. She is an amazing professor and an advisor. She got on the phone with me on a Sunday afternoon when I was concerned about something. She genuinely cares about her students. She's a great teacher. Her lectures are informative and everything we did in her class was worthwhile.
