She's very helpful and her tests are extremely easy!
Tests are very hard, but she is a good teacher. Complete overload on assignments.
She is very easy to understand. Tests are straightforward. If you do the homework and pay attention in class, you will be fine. iClicker quizzes in almost every lecture. There is a lot of homework, but it is very helpful.
Her lectures kind of drag and it's hard to stay awake, but she is really clear. There is homework, but if you get stuck and go to office hours she helps a lot. If you get stuck on anything in this class I recommend going to office hours, because if you don't understand one concept it's going to come back and bite you since tests are cumulative.
She is a very good professor, she wants her students to succeed and is very helpful during office hours. Don't procrastinate studying, she gives you all the material that is covered on the test.
She is an amazing and inspirational professor. I bombed my first test in her class but after talking to her and really putting in the time I did great on my next exam. The lectures are long but she definitely knows what she's talking about. Very friendly and down to Earth. Take this professor!!!
She is a good teacher. I wish she would upload the notes she took in class to the web but oh well. The test are pretty easy if you know the material, no curveballs or anything. If you learn the material thoroughly, you should get an A.
Joanna Goodey is phenomenal. She is my favorite professor that I've had so far. Her lectures are very straight forward. She has great easy to understand explanations, and her grading is very fair. A lot of people me included bombed the last midterm, so our lowest midterm got averaged with our final, if it was better. Would recommend to everyone.
I already had taken Chemistry so it was super easy for me, but she has a monotone voice, but she explains the content well, so just load up on coffee.
Her class is very straight forward. Chemistry is tough for most students but if you practice and go to class you can pass. She is very open to questions and will never make you feel dumb but you have to pay attention.
She is sweet and willing to help in office hours. Although, the grades over the test slowly decrease in the semester. Homework every week due by Sunday nights.
She's a pretty average teacher. Good explainer but the test can get a little hard. However, that's hardly her fault. Overall she's better than anyone else you can take. I'd recommend her.
I had already taken Chem before, so I understood most of what was going on without having to actively listen in lecture. If you haven't taken chem, the pace is very fast but doable, I think, if you pay attention in lecture and use the resources given to you. Very nice lady, and she explains things very well.
I just wasn't a chemistry person.. She was a good professor but was boring. The online homework is way harder than the materials covered in class but is manageable if you go to help sessions. The grading scale is lowered so it is not too hard to pass the class. (I should've taken Brown)
Answers questions thoroughly so don't be afraid to ask.
Sent an e-mail to set up a time to meet her during her office hours but she never showed up, if you can not maintain focus while listening to someone who is monotone then sign up for another class.
The lectures are very clear. She posts her lecture notes online so you can follow along with her. The curriculum is difficult, but if you put forth effort, you can definitely do it.
Really nice during office hours always is there to help. She really gets to know you and how you study so you can improve over the year. Gives lots of resources. If you are going to take this class use all the resources you can like SI Sessions, Practice test, and end of chapter questions.
Fantastic chemistry professor, explains most things very clearly. Office hours are super beneficial as she is great one on one. Be sure to attend all the lectures you can, there are clicker assignments in class but they are super easy. Attendance was not taken. Overall, I would recommend Dr. Goodey to anyone who struggles with chemistry.
Notes are posted online, but i would recommend for you to go to lecture. The tests aren't too difficult, but they definitely require lots of studying beforehand. If you haven't taken chem recently, make sure to go over common topics like stoichiometry.
Dr. Goodey has consistent office hours and is available after class to ask questions. She wants her students to succeed and will try to help you understand a concept by teaching it differently than she did in lecture. Her notes are extremely helpful and she leaves room in them for you to work practice problems.
Although her lectures are a little bit boring, they are very informative if you pay attention. Her tests are straight from the lecture power points and textbook so if you read the textbook and take good notes, you are pretty solid for the test. Utilize the resources she provides! (i.e. printing out power point, taking old practice exams...)
Goodey is an AMAZING lecturer for chemistry. She breaks everything down and if you print out the notes before her lectures and write notes and follow along you will succeed. She also has past exams online for practice, so studying is really clear and organized. All tests are fully multiple choice. And letter grades are super curved. 86 + for an A.
Dr. Goodey is a solid choice for CHEM 107. Lectures are very important to attend or else you will feel lost. I would recommend going to A+ tutoring or using extra help resources she provides. She has old exams posted online which are pretty similar to the tests. Do the homework, it's not too bad and it will definitely help you out in the end.
The course grade may be curved but that doesn't help much when the class average on an exam is a 60% and the exams aren't curved and there's no extra credit whatsoever. Didn't take any responsibility for such a low exam class average and instead told the class it was an easy test.
Dr. Goodey is an amazing Chem 107 professor. However, you do have to at least look a t the textbook and do practice problems. She is very easy to talk to and will help you when you need help. She also provides a lot study tools through old practice exams.
Overall good professor. Really nice and her lectures are usually clear and she always asks students if they have any questions. Make sure to show up and do clicker questions and study previous exams.
Dr. Pellois is a really good professor. Explained concepts well enough. The exams are not not difficult if you understand the main concepts. You need to read the book for this class and do a lot of problems to do well on the exams.
She genuinely cares about her students' ability to succeed and their mental health. Her lectures are thorough enough to where if you are attentive and answer the clicker questions independently, you should not have to study too much more to make an A.
Great professor but the material itself is hard. She is very nice, but the final was too hard in my opinion. Do every practice test before each exam and you should manage an A or B.
I barely got a C in the class, but if it weren't for Dr. Pelois, I wouldn't have even come close to passing. The class is very difficult, especially if you haven't taken chemistry before, but she genuinely cares about all of her students and teaching the material well. She was always available for questions both during class and office hours.
Good prof, articulates the topics very well. However, the course itself sucks, especially the lab section which is horrible. Prepare to spend several hours studying and preparing for the exams because they are graded extremely heavily.
Joanna Goodey is probably the best CHEM107 professor. Brown is likely a more thorough professor, however if you're only looking to get the credit out of the way, Joanna Goodey will give you the least BS. She gives previous tests to study from which are invaluable.
Dr Goodey is a really good professor but this class is very difficult. Especially the lab, 117. You really need to pay attention during the lecture and make sure you will be able to understand your notes later. I recommend doing the extra practice homework in OWL.
Dr. Pellois is a great professor. She's willing to help during class, or office hours. She genuinely cares about her students, and wants everyone to succeed. I took Chemistry my sophomore year in H.S, so this course was difficult for me, but Dr. Pellois made the material manageable. If you do your work/ practice problems, it should be an easy B.
While her exams can be difficult at first, Dr. Goodey wants you to succeed. She doesn't give extra credit like Arnet, but she curves all 88's to an A. She is a solid choice for CHEM 107. She is very friendly and accessible. If you go to class and do all the homework, you are sitting at a solid B. Study diligently and you will get an A.
Solid professor for a freshman getting used to collage, lectures are very clear and cover the testing material well, homework is not too overwhelming.
She teaches well
Professor Goodey is a good choice. She is clear in what she expects an d is always ready to help if you need it.
One of the better options for CHEM107 professors in my opinion. Her SI leader, in my opinion, was not that helpful, but going to her office hours helps a lot. She is always willing to help and is a very nice lady. For the OWL homework, she allows 10 attempts per question and shows the solutions on how to do it, so 100s on the homework are easy.
She goes around every clicker question, so sit on the edges of the rows if you're struggling/need help. The practice exams she posts are really helpful. If you've taken AP Chemistry the first test will be a breeze because it's just stoichiometry, but don't slack off and still pay attention to lectures because everyone does worse on the second exam.
Besides giving great lectures, Dr. Goodey-Pellois actually seemed to care about her students. If people don't pass this class it's because they aren't studying hard enough. Read the textbook, pay attention in class, and do your homework in a timely manner and you will at the very least earn a high B.
Dr Pellois helps you understand the material, although she jumps between topics confusingly sometimes. Her voice is strangely soothing as half the class dozes off in the middle of every lecture, it's hard to stay awake. She has great practice exams. I knew the material well but got low As for every test. Take Arnet for less stress during the final.
I loved Dr. Goodey! She was such a nice lady and she did not mind going one on one with you outside of class to help you understand something if she had time. Obviously, the class is hard, but from what I heard, she was definitely the best professor for 107! Like I said, hard class, but if you study you will be fine, be sure to study! Seriously!
Good prof overall. In this class I struggled the most out of my 1st semester engineering classes, but that is less a result of the prof and more a result of my own incompetence. She often highly recommends reading the textbook, but if you attend lecture with your notes prepared, you'll easily pass the class just on that.
Cons: - talks quiet and is boring sometimes - she will not round up your grade so every point counts - Every point counts- test were usually only 20 questions (be sure to double check your work all the time!!!) Pros: - Helpful outside of class - better than most chem professors Recommendations: Really understand the HW to do well!
Lectures are easy to understand and informative. She gives you notes to follow along with and does problems with you. The thing that stood out the most about this professor to me was her introduction of iClicker questions to me. You need to attend class because the iClicker questions are how she takes attendance and are also grades.
Chem 107 isn't the easiest class but she was a good teacher. Her lectures were easy to follow, and she would post the powerpoints up before each lecture. iClicker questions make attendance mandatory. Just be sure to study the book and her powerpoints before exams and you'll be good to go.
Lecture attendance was mandatory per clicker questions. She is great at explaining the topics, but read the textbook and study for the tests. The tests are not easy, the average on one of the tests was a 65 with a 10 point curve already added on.
She cares about how you do in her class but makes her tests "harder than they should have been" (her words). She doesn't curve or replace lowest exam grade. She is somewhat helpful in office hours but overall learning all content is on you.
good prof, gives good lectures, provides pdf notes
Makes her tests way more difficult than necessary. Taking professor Brown would have been better. Her tests are more theoretical than other professors. Only 20% of people received an A in her class.
Professor Goodey is truly the best chem professor there is. Compared to all the other professors at tamu she explains concepts slowly & carefully which makes topics easier and better to understand. Homework is very very minimal compared to other chem 101 professors and she also gives tons out outside resources for students to utilize outside class
Coming from a student who struggled with Chem 101 as a freshman, Goodey really opened up my eyes. Her powerpoints help A LOT. Her tests are fair but you really need to study for it. Take it from a student who got into TAMU by being in the top 10% of their class.. college is hard. However, Goodey is awesome.
Do not worry about studying for this class because all the material that you will study will most likely not be on the test. Also beware of her office hours if you are sensitive. You will a 100% get roasted. The practice test that she gives do not help for the test because she puts questions that she never went over.
You MUST do well on the tests in the class. Luckily, the tests aren't hard and she is a great teacher. Recommend buying a season pass with A+ and attending most if not all the sessions and you are golden. I barely studied outside of A+ and never made below an 85. 4 tests, a cumulative final, OWL, reinforcement module, and clicker points.
I have never witnessed a professor invest so much effort into helping students succeed. Due to the way Dr. Goodey breaks concepts down into easier-to-chew terms, this class is a breeze relative to most Chem courses. As long as you stay diligent in keeping up with the material, tests should be pretty easy. She clearly cares and wants you to do well.
I absolutely loved her! She has a lot of available help outside of class and really cares about students. She doesn't take attendance, but you get points for answering clicker questions during class. I recommend going to every lecture!!! She explains things really well and I always did better on exams that I went to every lecture for.
I found this class very straight forward and easy. Shes always available to answer any questions or help w the weekly hw which isnt hard but can be long sometimes. Her tests are just like the practice tests she gives so if you do well on those and understand concepts you will do fine. She does clicker questions in lecture which is my only complaint
This professor really knows her material and was able to explain it in an efficient, effective way. I suggest doing the exam reviews before tests. iClicker questions were given every lecture, though. She is extremely kind and it is obvious that she wants her students to learn and do well!
overall her lectures are okay but she heavily emphasizes that she does not believe in practice tests because " that's not how real life is" she also doesn't have extra credit points and only gives you half points if clickers are wrong. overall i just wouldn't recommend her.
I really enjoyed her class. She clearly explained the material and seemed to really care about her students. She did a lot of examples during lecture that were similar to exams. Her practice exams that were close to the exams. I didn't like how short her exams were, but I did think they were straight-forward. She was helpful during office hours.
She really made me like chem a lot. Her tests are usually only 15-18 questions only so if you miss more than one, it's already a B but if you do all the homework she assigns and goes to SI session, making an A is doable. She explains the concepts really well and in-depth.
Very easy tests, and combine that with the great lectures, she is a great choice for Chem 107. Easily the best prof teaching that class. However, you cannot miss classes because of clicker questions.
Dr. Goodey is a solid professor. Chemistry is a difficult concept and out of the three CHEM 107 professors she is by far the easiest. Go to class or you will not succeed, especially if you have not taken chemistry before. She really cares about her students' health and well being and is happy to help in office hours. Study hard and do the homework.
She is a good prof. I didn't read the textbook until the end of the year. Make sure to show up with an iClicker 2, she uses that all of the time for attendance. Lecture notes are taken based on a power point presentation, so make sure you show up with a printed paper copy of the power point or use a fancy computer with a pen like me, EVERY DAY!!
Chem 107 itself was difficult for me, she isn't a bad prof but not my type of teacher. Just read text book, her voice is monotone and hard to stay interested, clicker questions so don't skip, do all the homework and textbook practice questions, go to SI sessions, don't get behind or you're screwed, but she's caring and wants you to do well
Dr. Goodey is great at helping students acclimate to their first semester of college. She really tries to make sure every student knows what's going on and doesn't leave anyone behind. Be sure to show up to class because there are clicker questions that are part of your grade. If you took AP Chem in high school, this class won't be too tricky.
So caring. Hard class but awesome prof.
Dr. Goodey was an amazing Chemistry professor. The class itself was hard, but thanks to her, I was able to pull through with a good grade. Chemistry itself is a hard subject to learn at first, but it gets better with consistency and time. She was very caring and considerate to her students. Make sure to go to SI Sessions; they help ALOT!
I love Prof Goodey with a passion. I did horribly my first quiz, accidentally went while she was not having office hours, and she still took the time to talk to me. Goodey gives good lectures, and you can pass the test by going to class alone. She genuinely cares about her students. I ecommend going over Owl and practice quiz to prepare for tests.
Professor Goodey is a very good lecturer. She helps students to become more effective learners throughout the course. Her practice tests are almost the same as the actual exams. She also gives very detailed formula sheets and tables so there is not much memorization required. She truly cares about students' learning and rounds close grades up.
I've always struggled with chemistry, so any negative feelings I had about this course were due to the material, not the professor. She taught the course well, and frequently reminded students that grades do not define them and was overall very caring and accessible.
She's a good lecturer, although sometimes the lectures feel like they drag on a little long, and is more of a mom than a professor really. She gives a formula sheet on tests which is awesome since a lot of questions are "do you know which formula to use here". No needlessly complicated free response questions unlike a certain other professor.
Chem 107 is a hard class, especially as a freshman, but Goodey makes it bearable. Make sure to do OWL homework, and study hard for the tests. Didn't go to SI once which I really regret now. Chem 107 is not the worst part, but Chem 117(the lab with this class) is terrible, but they curve that class so hard because nobody really knows what is going on
She is a good lecturer but I found her practice exams and lectures to be nothing like the actual exams. The homework EOC is far more like the exam. She was an alright professor but always gave homework even on breaks. She gave 3 hours' worth of lecture and homework the day after the lab final and 3 days before the class final.
Great professor but so much work, however, the other profs seem that they aren't that great. You won't need the textbook, but you'll have to buy it for homework anyway. She loves what she does, that said, lectures can take really long and then we might rush them. Don't skip class because there are clicker questions that will count for a grade.
She is one of the best chem profs. Her lectures are well paced & easy to follow. She often gave tips for more effective studying and learning. She is a VERY kind and caring person; you can tell she is dedicated to helping you as best she can. She gives practice exams that are very similar to the actual exams. GO TO SI SESSIONS. THEYRE VERY HELPFUL
She's really nice, her lectures are always posted and explains topics really well. She will always make sure that you understand and will extend the homework deadlines if needed. Make sure to attend class to get clicker points, but it's fine if you miss a few since she posts the lectures and drops low grades.
Dr. Goodey is a great choice for CHEM 107! I would highly recommend. Though her method of teaching is pretty busy, she does a great job of ensuring that the information being taught is understood, not just conceptually, but in a problem solving context as well. She has accessible office hours as well in case content is difficult to understand.
Clicker quizzes for participation, make up a decent chunk of grade Really good at explaining the concepts she teaches did a good job with the transition between in-person-online. TAs are super useful, and she holds office hours too. Overall would recommend, just be prepared to work for your A, it's not an automatic guarantee.
There is a bit of homework assigned in this class. She makes videos to watch before the lecture that are helpful. SI is also very helpful. Going to class is helpful if you didn't watch the videos or look over the presentation. Clicker questions are also asked during class.
As a non-chem major having taken AP chem, I didn't care too much about the class, but Dr. Pellois did a great job. She adapts well to the online environment and is understanding if she makes a mistake. She also took the time to address study habits in class which as a nice gesture since you need to study effectively to do well in this class.
I would die for this woman. She is so sweet and really understanding. The class is so organized, which is rare during COVID, and she does a really good job of giving advice on how to succeed. There are multiple people to go to for help and her lectures via zoom are still engaging and you are able to participate. An angel
Dr. Goodey-Pellois is FANTASTIC, she genuinely cares and loves each student in her class and will work with them unrelentingly. I would honestly die for this woman. She is so loved by all students because of how flexible and passionate she is about understanding the course material. She is the best CHEM 107 prof and you will not be let down by her!
Dr. Goodey was a real good professor. She clearly wants all her students to be successful. The only issue is that the chemistry courses are massive (Zoom calls with 700+ people). Dr. Goodey did a great job teaching even though she was stretched so thin. I have immense respect for her ability to help so many students to the finish line.
Dr. Pellois is an amazing professor, but be prepared to work in order to get the A. She provides lecture notes before class, which are crucial to watch if you want to get the clicker questions correct. I would definitely recommend going to office hours if you don't understand something because she is very willing to work with you. SI was good too.
Dr. Pellois is so kind, definitely the best CHEM107 prof out there. Be prepared to work for your grade though, be sure to study the clicker questions and quizzes thoroughly before every exam. She didn't give us any practice exams/supplemental material before the exams, so be diligent about watching the lectures/taking notes to earn your grade.
Dr. Pellois is one of the easiest professors I had this semester. I used to get c's in high school chemistry and ended up with a high A in her class she truly is amazing. She's also a really good lecturer and keeps the class motivated and interested through clicker questions (which also adds a cushion to your grade in this class!).
Chemistry is not something I find easy to learn. Aside from occasionally needing to consult other sources to properly learn certain topics, Goodey is a great professor. I think she is the best option for 107, and she cares about her students being successful. Tough quizzes and tests (barely escaped with an A). Online class was well-organized.
Dr. Goodey is a great professor. Quizzes got harder as time went on so do well in the beginning. She drops the lowest quiz grade but still make sure to study for them. Midterm was easier than the final. There is homework every week but you are given many attempts so you should get an A on those. She is super helpful and teaches well. TAKE HER!
Dr. Pellois was a very chill, understanding prof. Considering the course content is notoriously hard for chem 107, I found this class relatively easy. As long as you actually take notes, complete clicker questions and hw, and study for quizzes and tests, you will do fine.
I had Dr. Pellois for chem 107 online. She is very understanding and wants you to succeed. Though her quizzes are hard(I only made an A on 1 out of 6), if you really study for the exams you will be able to pull off an A. Each class session has clicker quizzes so its important to prepare for class and learn the material a couple of days beforehand.
Coming into college this was a class that worried me, but Professor Goodey gives you all the resources to succeed if you have a little bit of dedication. The SI session is very helpful and is the only outside of class practice needed besides the homework.
Lectures have ?'s that are wat too easy. The quizzes and tests have harder questions. She's forgiving when grading, giving extra cred at beginning of semester and dropping lowest test grade. Lectures aren't that useful (but are mandatory via iClicker) as she posts vids that are more in depth content-wise. Do the HW and vid notes & you'll get an A.
CHEM 107 during Fall Semester. Prof G leads great lectures that compose mainly notes. Make sure to watch her pre-lecture videos for additional instruction. The homework assigned serves as great practice. Quizzes are helpful to know where you stand in the class. Prof G is extremely supportive. Do the work assigned to be successful in this course!
I took CHEM 107 online and was super worried about chem coming in as a freshman, many ppl said its a weed out course. However, prof Goodey's lectures and explanations made it much easier to grasp the concept. Tips to get an A in her class: watch her lectures, take good notes, do the hw early in the week, practice. Goodey is def the best chem prof!!
She was an AWESOME professor! She took so much time out to record her lectures beforehand and they were very clear. Make sure to watch them before class because the class is just solving problems and answering questions. She does a good job of thoroughly explaining things, and I recommend SI because it was a very helpful add on the class offered.
She's very caring. Whenever I was thinking about dropping the class because I had a 30 on the first exam she reached out to me first to let me know what I did wrong and that there is still hope and tons of opportunities to fix my grade. ALWAYS attend class, attend some SI sessions and if there are concepts you don't understand ASK!
I absolutely LOVED this class! Even with Covid, Dr. Goodey worked hard for her students. She truly cares for her students and their success. STUDY! If the material begins to get more difficult, don't hesitate to reach out for help during office hours! Good chemistry teachers are hard to find, so if you can, definitely take her class!!
Anyone who talks trash about Dr. Goodey probably never showed up to class. The interactive nature of her lectures make them so much more effective and I really wish more instructors would use similar methods.
Watch prerecorded lectures and attend class for problem solving. The class itself is not extremely test heavy (do every assignment you can to help your grade). Lectures are not long or hard to understand. Dr. Goodey is always accessible and very kind. Homework was not overbearing. Just study for quizzes and you'll be okay for exams.
Dr. Goodey-Pellois is a solid professor. She's very kind, and is readily available through email. She holds office hours twice a week, and is willing to work out homework/class problems with you. She tries to make sure that everyone is understanding what is being taught during the lecture by walking around the room and asking if students are okay.
She is a good teacher, she explains stuff well. Quizzes and exams are online proctored. Many resources outside of class and you can tell she cares.
Please take Mama G
Although chem is fairly easy for me, I did have to work hard for a B in this class jsut because her quizzes can be tough if you dont study. she focuses alot on conceptual and you will truly learn chemistry with her if you work hard. I recommend goodey 150% over any other prof. shes great.
Prof G is great! She really cares about her students and does her best to make sure that you understand the material in office hours. Make sure to watch the pre lecture videos, definitely would take classes taught by her again. Take her for chem 107, especially if you like the flipped style of learning.
Goodey is very caring, probably the most caring prof I have. However, I extremely dislike how the class lectures are videos. The quizzes and tests are online, which means there is no partial credit for any frqs. She is pretty good if you go to her for questions. Prob the best prof for 107. Not a huge fan of the format of the class however.
At my NSC, I structured my schedule around getting Dr. Goodey's class. I made the right choice, for Dr. Goodey is the superior chem 107 choice. My friends in the other 107 classes have a much harder time and don't get the high-quality pre-lecture videos that Goodey provides. Do what you can to take her class. Watch pre-lecture vids and go to class.
Teaches in a very understandable way and the class is easy to get through if you just do your work outside of the class with the textbook questions as well as watching the pre-class videos. You can get through without watching the pre-class videos but it is much harder. Also there is points for attending class and answering the clicker questions.
Goodey is one of the nicest professors I've had this semester. Her pre-lecture videos and problem-solving videos are very helpful when it comes to quizzes and exams. Make sure to watch all the content and keep up with work and you should be fine for this class.
This class with Dr. Pellois was so so much easier for me that 10th grade Chemistry in highschool(Probably only cause I studied so much for it). Just make sure you understand your homework, watch the pre-lecture videos, and GO TO SI SESSIONS and an A will be so easy to attain.
Dr. Goodey is a good professor, however I found that the quizzes/exams had content that was far more difficult than anything we had learned in class. There is little to no material to prepare for exams with and you do not know what your grade in the class is until the last few weeks of the semester. I recommend her over the other chem profs.
She is the best chemistry 107 professor. Great pre videos and lectures similar to quizzes and test. Totally get her.
Professor Pellois (Goodey) is a solid professor. Her pre class lecture videos are phenomenal and cover exactly what you need to know. Her lectures are focused on practicing what you learned during the pre class videos and answering questions, and homework is fairly simple practice as well. The pre class videos were ideal final exam prep.
Dr. Pellois provides pre lecture videos which are very informative and help you prepare well for class. She has office hours which were very helpful, but you often had to wait a while because there were many students there, but thats not her fault.
Professor Goodey-Pellois, is a great professor for 107. She gives prelecture videos for each class, i would highly recommend watching them before each class. the quizzes and finals are definitely hard but if you put the time and effort into them you can make a good grade. Goodey uses iClicker in class so you have to go. Overall a good prof.
Solid professor. She does iClicker points for participation, so you need to be in class to see the problems. The quizzes and exams are similar problems to the homework, and she gives you plenty of material to study with.
6 quizzes (25%), midterm (20%), and final (25%) were all taken proctored online, & they need to be taken within a 24-hour window for quizzes and 12-hour window for tests. The lowest quiz grade was dropped. The homework (15%) was really easy. Watch prerecorded lectures and class was for problem-solving clicker questions/attendance (15%).
All of the lectures for this class were prerecorded and assigned as homework, and the class time was dedicated to working problems. The lectures were decent, but I didn't always feel like I'd been fully prepared for the material on quizzes and exams (especially the final). Overall Dr. Goodey is nice and sort of gave me middle school teacher vibes.
Dr. Pellois is my favorite professor I've had. She made chem 119 easy to understand and gave clear lectures that really help. The format of tests and quizzes are similar to the clicker questions in class, so it's helpful to follow along. She is so sweet and wants everyone to succeed, and I actually enjoyed her lectures a lot! HIGHLY recommend!!
Way too much busy work. The textbook/homework software is clunky and annoying. You have to use 5 different websites to do work for this class, and pay lots of money for 3 of them. Little to no feedback and office hours are just group reteaching, no one on one help. Hard grader and no curve
Goodey is a great professor. She makes sure that everyone understands the material. One thing I would definitely note that because this is definitely a first-semester freshman class, don't be afraid to ask questions and raise your hand.Although one thing that I would definitely suggest doing the suggested readings beforehand,
CHEM 107 with professor Goodey was not a bad class as long as you come to lecture and watch most of the videos she posts. She is very understanding and easy to talk to. Just be sure to start the home works with some time left. They aren't hard but some can be more time consuming than expected.
Dr. Goodey was the best prof I've ever had. She was attentive and caring and held office hours right after class so we could discuss the material taught right after. Take her!! The tests were straightforward and we had quizzes biweekly that were very easy. This class was just like high school chem. She rounded up my 88.8 to an A without me asking.
Goodey is a very nice woman, I personally do not click with her learning style. I will say that this is the second time that I have taken this class and it is going much better the second time around, so maybe that's due to her. She is willing to work with you if you talk to her and is overall pretty good.
Although CHEM 107 is a challenging course, Dr.Pellois makes it approachable to students and is always there to help out if needed. It's very obvious that she cares a LOT for her students and provides a ton of ways for students to improve their grades. Her exam and quiz averages have been consistently higher than other professors. Highly recommend!
She is a great professor who cares about your learning. Chemistry is difficult, but professor Goodey helps with things such as office hours and extra credit opportunities. She runs the class in a flipped classroom style, so you watch videos at home then answer polling questions about the topics and review them. Grades are also generous if you try.
Good prof who cares about her students. Lots of extra credit. I will say, the in-class examples and homework were always significantly easier than the quizzes and exams. The quizzes/exams were hit or miss. I would either get a 70 or a 95. Do the extra practice in Cengage and go to SI sessions if you want to excel in this class. Best chem prof
Professor Goodey was a pretty good lecturer. She runs a flipped class where you watch the videos before you come and she gives examples problems that she works through. You pretty much get a free 30% of your grade by completing the questions in class and doing the homework. This really helps because the quizzes and test are challenging.
Dr. Goodey was very kind. Flipped classroom was annoying in my opinion. The best thing she did was provide unit objectives from each unit. Very helpful for studying, and no other profs did this. If you could explain the unit objectives, the quizzes were pretty easy. Several extra credit opportunities, and lowest quiz dropped.
Goodey is a great prof and the Exams are essentially just longer quizzes. I recommend practicing every homework assignment before exams to be successful. My class was loud and she needs to be more stern shutting people up.
While I find chemistry difficult, Dr. Goodey tried her best to make the class as easy as possible. I like how she spreads her grades out with lots of assignments, and she gives lots of extra credit too. Her "flipped classroom" method of teaching is very effective as all you do is practice problems in lecture and she's there if you need any help.
Professor Goodey was someone who wanted her students to succeed. She always gave extra credit and gave instructions on how to prepare for quizzes and exams. I personally didn't find chemistry that interesting, but she taught the subject very well.
Dr. Goodey was so amazing this semester! I loved the flipped class format because you do practice problems during class and you're supposed to watch the videos before class. Do the homeworks in preparation for the quizzes and she offers quite a bit of extra credit. I'm still not fond of chemistry but she did an amazing job at helping me understand.
She makes the class flipped which is good because you learn outside of class and come do practice problems. She is the best for CHEM 107. She makes them clear and quizzes and exams are outlined what they will cover. You learn alot but do make sure to come to class. Grading is simple and there is extra credit!
I found the lectures boring and was more entertained by reading the textbook. I also think that I would have been better off only reading the textbook, as the lectures were not as helpful in knowing what was on the quizzes and exams.
Quizzes are absolute killers and there is one every week. Homework is due at 10pm so pay attention to deadlines. She does offer tons of extra credit and has lots of office hours. Make sure to watch pre-lecture videos. Textbook doesn't really do anything
Info heavy and overall a rushed course (not Goodey's fault), but she does her best to help all her students understand at least the basics of all the material. Quizzes are hit or miss on difficulty. She is very obvious about her care for students, especially since it's a predominately first-semester of college course
Dr. Goodey was a great teacher, no complaints about her teaching style. She was very helpful, especially during office hours, and had a fantastic SI. The class was difficult, but attending all SI sessions and office hours helped quiet a lot. The quizzes were not too bad, but you definitely need to work for your grade. Overall great professor!
Dr. Goodey's lectures were very entertaining and very conceptual so try to avoid missing class if you can. The homeworks do a very good job explaining how to solve each problem. The quizzes and tests make up a majority of your grade. Make sure you know everything you need to know beforehand.
Very kind professor. I thought I would struggle with chemistry because I hadn't taken it since early in high school, but she made it interesting and easy to understand. Some of the topics are complicated but she is more than willing to help you understand them. She expects a fair amount from her students, but does an excellent job preparing them.
CHEM 107 is not easy for most of the people who take it. The same applies for the class when it is taught by Dr. Goodey-Pellois. Despite that, Dr. Pellois was able to teach a lot of the classes more complex concepts in simple terms. Quizzes are tough but fair, all lectures are recorded, and extra credit is available. Highly recommend.
Overall an extremely fair professor. She had a semi-reverse classroom, where there was lots of practice questions with the lectures. Chem 107 is a rushed course of Chem 119/120 and Dr. Goodey did a great job of making the class accessible to learn and offered amazing office hours, in which she answered clarifying questions very clearly.
She's a great professor; she can be a bit boring especially if you have her lecture at 8 am, but ultimately she is very helpful and understanding. Quizzes were terrible but she drops the lowest grade. Homework also wasn't great but they really helped.
Extremely caring and advocates for student well being, pushes you to be your best, and offers tons of help in office hours. Homeworks and quizzes are definitely challenging, quizzes and tests taken online with Respondus. Class itself is hard, but she makes it easy to get help. Attendance impacts grade (iclicker). Get help early (office hrs & SI).
Decent lecturer and cares for students, but the class felt like some kind of factory (hundreds of people in each section). I will say though, the only reason I survived this class was because I took chem in high school. One other thing, i didnt like using lockdown browser with camera (felt invasive, would've preferred in person quizzes and tests)
great prof, taught very well. only downside is 8am classes, but extra credit was worth it
The class itself was quite difficult, but she taught it as well as a professor should (which she should definitely do given she's the first year chemistry coordinator). Whenever I had questions, she was very helpful and willing to help me and give me advice, and her office hours were nice the few times I went to get help or just sit there and work.
One of the best Chem teachers here at Texas A&M. It is a very easy class if you pay attention, participate, and do your homework. By doing the Alek's homework you should be fine in the class. She also gives practice exams and the content is always like the exam. She records her lectures and gives extra credit so it should be an easy A.
Professor Goodey was so kind and it was evident she cares about her students. Her class was very organized and straigtforward; you had weekly homework assignments as 3 exams + a final. I enjoyed her class but I felt her exams were pretty challenging.
Prof Goodey was amazing!! She genuinely cares about her students, she is helpful in and outside of class. Her lectures are a bit boring but its kinda hard to make Chemistry interesting. Attendance does matter as she uses iClicker for attendance and participation points. I definitely recommend taking her tho!!!!!
Dr. Goodey is an amazing professor. She really puts in the time and effort for her students. This is a lecture intensive class so you need to pay attention and do the assigned hw's. Go to her office hours or meet with her one-on-one she's always willing to help. Also, she does iclicker and extra credit which helps a lot.
I was so lucky to have Dr. Goodey for chem 119 after all of the nightmares I have heard about other profs. She is so kind, encouraging, approachable, and offers extra credit. She made my gen chem experience worthwhile and even knew my name after attending only three office hour sessions. Such a sweet lady and wants you to excel in this class.
I LOVED prof goody, if you had a question or feel that she graded your exams wrong she would literally give you bonus points. She gives out so much extra credit and if you attend the lectures it improves your attendance and clicker grade. If she taught any other course on my degree plan I would def take her again.
Take her if you can. The tests are all multiple-choice, and they are not too hard. Personally, the labs were harder than the actual course itself (and my TA was a harsh grader). There are bonus points and she rounds up your grade if you are on the borderline. If you put in the time and effort, getting an A is very much possible.
Mrs. Goodey is a good teacher and her lectures were fairly interesting. I liked the use of iclicker in her class it incentivizes you to pay attention in class. I will say that I absolutely despise chem lab like nothing else, but that's more so related to the course itself and not her
Professor Goodey teaches basic chemistry very well. She gives plenty of resources in her notes, ALEKS HW, And SI sessions to do well in the course. She also gives extra credit that can improve your grade by 2%. For the exams look at the textbook and Lecture slides for practice problems she usually pulls from those.
I would probably have stayed in the class but I took it at 8am and I just wasn't making it to her class, and her lectures are super important as her quizzes and tests are based on them. If you have a schedule conflict or another test on the same day email her and she will try to work around your schedule! Amazing prof!
Challenging course, but Professor Goodey taught it well. Helpful office hours and extra credit made it manageable. Using Unstuck AI alongside the textbook really boosted my understanding.
This prof wants you to learn. While attendance is not mandatory, there is iClicker polling that occurs each class for a cumulative grade, but if you go to class, it's easy enough. She posts lectures to Canvas so you can relisten if needed. She gives so many chem resources to utilize throughout the semester. Amazing prof!
Attendance not mandatory, but if you skip you'll have no idea what's going on. Her lectures are pretty good and can answer any questions you have, just gotta lock in so you don't miss anything. Do her homework after lecture period and space your work out so you're not cramming before tests and you'll be chillin.
Best prof my freshman years. Good lecturer and lots of help outside of class. Canvas was easy to navigate. Difficult quizzes and some time consuming homework but overall a really good class.
Professor Goodey is a great lecturer, and has made chemistry easy to understand, as long as you attend her lectures. She is also very caring and wants you to succeed as a student. Very approachable if you have an issue in the class or with the material. Office hours are also really helpful.
great professor, super sweet. i'm not great at chem nor do i enjoy it much, but she makes me want to come to the lectures. she's super caring and always there to help -- even during exams to clarify things for you. highly recommend. side note -- for head of the chemistry dept or smthn, she's very accessible
She is a great person but horrible teacher. She stopped offering extra credit this year because it was "too much for her."
Great professor who wants and encourages all her students to do well. Super helpful both in and outside of class. Attendance graded through checking in and poll questions, but you get a full score after a certain threshold. Quizzes and exams follow lectures/homework closely, and most formulas/background info are provided.
Her lecture videos that she uploads are golden for studying for exams/quizzes. Always willing to help!
Dr. Goodey is super easy to talk to and she cares about her students. OWL homework can take a while but is an easy 100, attendance through iClicker means you have to come to class but is also an easy 100, and she gives practice tests that usually reflect exams. However, QUIZZES will tank your grade. Nothing like the tests or clicker questions.
Because of the iClicker, attendance for this class is pretty much mandatory. The 8 am classes are pretty rough, but the class overall isn't that bad. Just do the homework over time and actually study for the quizzes. The quizzes are pretty hard for some reason so be ready for them, but the actual tests are easier.
W Professor. She truly is very welcoming and she is always willing to help her students during lecture and during office hours. She has a very comforting personality and she does care about her students learning. However, you do have to put in a lot of work in this class. For both test and quizzes, you have to know the content.
She is a very caring prof, and it is clear she wants the best for you. She spent some time talking about the transition to college and how to prepare/what to expect on tests. The course is tough, especially the last two units, so try to start strong, and go to class. There are 6 quizzes, and one is dropped, but they are tough and tightly timed.
Professor Goodey truly cares about the success of her students. She is very kind and will always take questions either during lecture or during office hours. She explains concepts very clearly and even if you don't understand a concept, she records and posts all of her lectures. I recommend looking over quizzes/iClicker questions to study.
She's an amazing professor. Her tests are a littler harder I would say but she truly is amazing.
Goodey would have random tangents and waste class time, forgetting to cover some topics before skipping them the next lecture. Quizzes were insanely difficult and compared to other professors I think hers were worse as well. There is little room for error in this course and you need to really know what you are doing to get an A.
I found the lectures to be thorough and engaging. Attendance is made mandatory through iClicker. Tests were 22 question all multiple choice (even the final). The class definitely ramps up towards the end, so be sure to pay attention during that time. It wasn't an easy class, but if you genuinely do the homework and pay attention an A is doable.
TLDR: Frustrating Her exams and quizzes are harder than other professors', and she didn't provide a final review while others did. Her slides lack depth and omit key information, unlike others who highlight important points. She frequently goes on tangents, avoids answering questions directly, or says she'll address them later but never does.
TAKE DR GOODEY-PELLOIS FOR CHEM 107. Excellent lecturer, very receptive to questions. Exams aren't too bad. Have to show up because of iclicker, and you should take notes on top of powerpoint pdf. She provides a practice exam and a key for the two midterm exams, but not for the final.
She is a great person, but she will mix up the questions on quizzes/tests because she wants to "make us apply what we've learned", so be prepared to study a lot. Also, she uses iClicker and uses it as a grade, so you have to go to class, or you won't pass. She has her ups and downs but for me she was not the best professor.
I hated chem in high school, but I got an A thanks to Goodey. She'd let us work out problems ourselves, then she'd solve them and explain everything she was writing. She even explained the harder conceptual topics in ways that made sense. She also posts videos of her lectures. Quizzes were tough, but exams were easier. Try to get into her class!
She was a good professor, just make sure you pay attention to lectures! I could not focus during them at all since I had her at 8am so I would definitely recommend to not have her that early. Her quizzes are much harder than exams. I never took AP Chem and it seemed like most people in that class did so I did fell very behind.
lectures are engaging and detailed, and she is a generous grader. Tests and quizzes were difficult, but that is pretty general for CHEM 107. I would recommend taking this professor, it is worth taking an 8AM session.
Although she is a very kind and clear teacher, there is a pretty severe disconnect between the content difficulty in lecture and the content on quizzes & tests. She spends every lecture fully explaining very basic stuff, and then expects you to be able to apply that basic knowledge in an advanced setting on the quizzes & tests.
Quizzes and tests were WAY harder than the lecture material. Quizzes included application in ways not learned so there were many low grades. Quite a good lecturer with pretty good explanations but she just didn't cover everything needed for the quizzes. Her lecture hours were always during one of my classes but she offers help outside of them.
Professor Goodey was able to explain the material in a way that was easy to understand and grasp. She provides additional resources and is very accessible outside of class.
Lectures are incredibly uninteresting, and the quizzes and test problems are not at all akin to problems seen on OWL. She said she would make us a final exam practice, and then just never did. A lot of the high ratings are from when she offered extra credit, which she no longer does. She is a caring teacher, but she will crash out on occasion.
Great prof for someone who is just learning more about chemestry. Despite the 8 am lectures, they were mandatory to attend as she gives extra credit for attendance and has poll questions during them. A really nice person too, she cares about her students learning and constantly shows it.
In a department littered with truly terrible profs, Goodey stands out as a genuinely good prof. Her course is by no means easy but she makes it interesting and doable. There are 2 exams and a final taking up 65% of the grade but there are pretty good practice exams. Final doesn't get a practice exam which is rough but still doable.
Dr. Goodey explains the concepts in ways easy to understand. Quizzes are tough, but doable through reviewing the iClicker questions. The midterms were very easy, as the majority of questions were pulled directly from the quizzes and practice exams. There's no practice exam for the final, so it is difficult, but still similar to the other exams.
We were given practice exams for the midterms, which helped a lot. Gave good lectures, but it felt like they didn't help with the quizzes or exams. She gave bonuses in terms of attendance and homework, though, as well as dropped a quiz/replaced an exam.
Dr. Goodey is a great professor who explains material very well. Although the quizzes were pretty hard and much more advanced than what was taught during lecture, the exams were very concept based and can all be answered with knowledge covered in lecture.
Took her last Fall 2024, as a freshmen. One of my favorite professors. Cares about her students and understands we have a life outside of school. She is the GOAT.
Best prof of all time I've seen enough build the statue.
