Great teacher. Makes math easy!
She seems like a nice person, and shes really organized.she didnt seem very helpfull. I thought the class was hard.
I think she needs to work on her defnitions and examples. The definitions are right out of the book and copying them on the board doesn't help in understanding them. She goes way to fast in most of her lessons.
Good teacher. She seems to really know her stuff. She does go pretty fast and will not go step by step so if you don't get the missing steps make sure to have her explain them. She is pretty good about making it clear after that.

I hated her class. She doesn't teach well enough. When you ask her a question she doesn't answer it like she should. Nobody gets what she is saying.
She is a terrible math teacher. She knows her math, but she conveys it to the class in professor terms so everyone is unclear of what is going on. She answers questions in ways that dont even help, and she is unreasonable on tests and quizzes.

Don't ever take her classes.

she did a sufficient job for one to get by on the class but is that really a quality that should be possessed in a college professor
good techer if you are good at math, but moves very quickly.
I hated her as a teacher. She didn't explain anything and even when she tried, noone had a single idea what was going on. I definitely DO NOT recommend her.
This class is difficult, not because of the teacher but because of the subject matter. Ms. Brunner is one of the best upper level math teachers. Her tests are really easy if you work out the problems from the study guide. She is there to help you whenever you need it. She does move fast, but all you need to do is tell her to explain it better.

She is very confusing and isnt very good at explaining things. Try to avoid her, there are better teachers at jjc!
Lack of interest in the students understanding.
I love Ms. Brunner. She is a good teacher, but sometimes it can be hard to follow her cuz she goes fast. The best thing is that her tests are very simple. She hands out a review sheet and the test is exactly the same as the review sheet. She is a fun person too. Take her class.
answered all my questions and I learned a lot
Avoid this teacher if you are at all behind in your math skills, THIS IS NOT THE CLASS TO CATCH UP IN!!! It is a "sink or swim" type class and you will fail if you can't keep up. I don't think she want's to stop and help you if you are struggling.
She moves fast. Do the homework when she assigns it. explained the material clearly. very professional.
She is a really nice person, however some of the concepts she teaches are not always clear. Homework is easy, she just looks over it and you can get extra credit all the time by going to the math lab to do your homework. There are ten 10 point quizzes from definitions on a pink sheet she gives you.Tests are somewhat hard you have to study for them.
She's okay, helpful and nice. The material is sooooo easy. I mean come on anyone can get the answers it's not hard. It's like Being in highschool sop****re year algebra. 098 is a review of Highschool Math, & if you got a C..well NO COMMENT, because it's an easy A. if get anything lower than a C GO BACK TO HIGHSCHOOL... or get a tutor OH SHE GIVES
goes way to fast, not very helpful uses to many technical terms, shes just not very good
cold shouldered type person
I think she needs to work on her defnitions and examples. The definitions are right out of the book and copying them on the board doesn't help in understanding them. She goes WAY TOO FAST in most of her lessons. It doesn't really show her knowledge of Math if all that she does is from the book. I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND HER!
She works FAST.I also HATE when she stands infront of the board and covers up what she writes, by the time you can write it because shes moved, she's already erased it!Her projects are a lot of work, but are easy. They definately helped boost my grade.Nice lady, but moves @ an extremely fast pace. Her tests contain too many questions!not enough time!
Very easy, just show up to class and take notes. She takes attendance everyday so make sure your there.
I took the excelled course and she was horrible! I have received A's in all math classes... but this class I couldn't stand. She talked way to fast, and when she would write something on the board, she would stand in front of it. by the time you could see it she was already taking about something else. She had several packets that were useless.
Attempted an online course with this instructor. Total waste of my time and money. I am now enrolled in the same course for the fall. To my knowledge, the majority of her class withdrew from her course. She referred everyone to a math tutor without any effort on her part to better assist her students.
Majority of comments on here say she moves too fast. She gets evaluated, right, she must hear these critiques, so.....has she bothered to change, or make adjustments to help her students?!?!
sprints through the material if you dont keep up, you S.O.L
Do not take this teacher.. goes way too fast, doesnt help students at all. She thinks its good if students get bad grades.
Let me save you the trouble if you need a math class and she is the only one with open classes wait till next semester or transfer out. This is the prime example of someone who is going to work to collect a check and thats it. Doesn't help nor understands that we have lives outside of her math class. I am almost positive she's the daughter of satan
I don't have a whole lot to complain about. She was okay but when it came to a hard subject she wasn't too clear. I like how she gives projects after every unit. It's a good way to get points. I got a solid B so I'm satisfied with the class. And I'm horrible at Math.
Class moves at a fast pace. Trig portion seemed rushed and i would not recommend this course to those who do not have some background in trig and a good algebra base. Teaching was great, communication was great, tests were short and easy. Warning!: Math 142 does not transfer well to other schools.
I had no problems. It was a lot of work, but not too bad of a class. She graded quick and answered e-mails quick.
i was not happy with her. i got an A, but I am pretty sure she added up my test scores wrong. she didnt know any answers to any questions asked in class. she got multiple answers wrong and many of my classmates corrected her. i couldnt believe she had been teaching that long. skip her, or just pray that she'll mess up and give you an A anyway
Annoying, Moved rather quickly, not helpful with difficult problems, did not prepare for tests.
I was rusty when taking this fast-paced course. I dropped her due to a failing grade but re-took her the next semester. She knows her stuff, teaches it well. Its a tough class so put it on yourself to get extra help. She prepares you as much as she can for tests w/out giving you the answers. Homework is mandatory and time consuming.
Don't take her summer finite mathematics course. She is completely useless at explaining problems, you have to figure it out yourself. Extremely fast-paced but that's not the problem with the course. Its the lack of explanation and the harshest grading I've ever encountered, no partial credit. Barely passing even with hard work.
Do not take this teacher. If you don't understand something she tells you to go back to the book or to go get tutoring. Pretty harsh grading, problem is right or wrong, no in between. Unless you are a math genius I would not take her online math courses. She's a grade keeper not a teacher, she teaches nothing.
i took her for my online class. everything is on the book. but if you miss one exam. you can't take it. i ended up getting a b for that.
This teacher NEVER helped me. When she did, she usually answered my question with another question. After the first e-mail, she got very bad at responding quickly. Her projects are A LOT of work and if you don't understand the material you're screwed. Harsh grader; wish I never took her.
Joanne was an alright teacher. The assignments & homework were easy, the tests were fairly easy too. But she didn't explain things all that well and there were times when she would get confused herself or do a problem wrong.
Alright, I received a C in her class. I thought and still think she is a reasonably good teacher though, tough, and it would be best to be motivated (which I was not), she puts up old tests which you can look at and pretty much figure everything out. Just don't make the same mistake I did and not show up.
Her Accelerated class is not for people who have not taken pre-calc and trig before. I only had algebra 2 in highschool. Had to dedicate all my time to this class to pass with only a C. And it was a well deserved C i'm not ashamed about.
This teacher did not help at all. More than half the time, she would get answers wrong that on questions that she was asking us! The class is easy at the beginning, but it just gets worse!
Just does problems without explaining
Just does the problems and does not explain anything
Don't take this teacher. She doesn't explain anything. The whole class is basically just watching her do problems.
does not explain anything. writes on the board fast and just says the problems and by the time you start writing down the problems, she is already erasing it and writing more up there. also expects you to go to math tutor center if your doing poorly.
Easy class. Doesnt really teach all that much. mostly just does the problems and continues on. Gives out a cheat sheet for the test, and good chapter review problems. She's an ok teacher.
She's a hardass on grades. you need work, and a correct answer, nothing is taken for effort, she is very pass fail. RUN.
More than often gets the wrong answers and gets me confused.
Considering the fact that JJC has little to no "good" math teachers, I didnt expect much from Ms. Brunner. She is, hands down, the hardest grader I've ever come into contact with, and she stands in front of class with not a single clue as to what she is saying/doing. All the while she mutters quietly "im not going to talk over you" WORST. EVER.
Its a shame this woman gets paid to just instruct her students on using a online math teaching program. She is in no way a teacher...maybe on paper and degree but she is not a teacher. Horrible at explaining problems, horrible at explaining on the board how to do a problem because 95% of the time she ends up doing it wrong. Tells us the next day.
She is the hardest teacher in the math department. Really strict grader. Stay away from her
run! do not take her. I worked my butt off in that class and it was useless. she doesn't teach. she just expects you to know it all already. I barely passed with a C-. the average test score for the whole class ranged from 45-60% there is a point where you need to look at how bad your students are doing and think...I must be doing something wrong.
I took a blended math 127 class with professor Brunner; however, I use the term professor very loosely. Her teaching methods are awkward and unaccommodating, not to mention, her grading is punitive and somewhat cruel. Unfortunately, I cannot offer an alternative, superior professor for this course. Regardless, I would not recommend her.
She is horrible. She needs to go. Somebody really needs to tell her to slow the down and actually think of the students for once. Terrible!!!!!
She doesn't take the time to see if her students are understanding the materials she's presenting. Very condescending if you ask a question. I would NOT recommend her at all.
Do NOT take this class with this teacher! She is the worst grader (takes off points for the dumbest things) and she makes many mistakes when trying to teach. She is not helpful or nice. Would never take her again.
Worst teacher I've ever had in my entire life never take this women's class she has no idea what she is doing. I hope this saves someone from taking this ladies class
Brunner is a nice lady, but the worst math teacher I have ever had in my life. Her notes are all over the place and is never clear on anything. Grades harshly on tests. often does two examples at once during notes, and mumbles about what she's doing. Very confusing! She is never clear on anything, gives you 10seconds to do examples before explainin
I took a one day a week evening class, and yes, the lectures felt long. She gives you the stuff you need to know for the tests. (Notes & study guide) The homework isn't really correlated with the tests, but the points add up. It helps to use the book's review questions at the end of each chapter to refresh your memory before each test.
Very nice woman. Extremely bad teacher.
She's a nice teacher, but out of all the math classes I've ever taken in my academic career, she was the worst. Not to be mean, but I learned more from MyMathLab than from her. If you really struggle at math like me (Ds & Cs in H.S.) take McArthur, Eltrevoog, or Bialas! They're amazing at teaching math! I passed 094, 095, 098 with 2 B's and an A!
Does not go over homework everything was online I personally felt like makes it harder to understand doesn't explain fully expects us to know things that we may have never been taught.
If you are a student who needs thorough explanation in math, this is not the professor for you. She does the problems, but doesn't explain why she's doing what she's doing. All homework is online. She's a tough grader on tests/quizzes. She doesn't ask questions, or try to get students involved. I didn't feel like she cared about anyone's grades.
Goes WAY too fast. If you want to understand the materiel, find a different teacher or study off My Math Lab. Absolutely horrible
She was easily the worst math professor I've ever had. She goes over material in a way that does not make any sense to a person brand new to the material. Very hard grader. She's not a very approachable person which makes asking questions hard to do. If you take her, be prepared to teach yourself or get outside help.
Whatever you do, do not take professor Brunner. I took this same course in high school, got an A-. Took her and got a 78%. She does not explain well, I ended up having to teach myself anything new. Does not care about you as a student if you're struggling and terrible at explaining everything. Again, DO NOT TAKE PROFESSOR BRUNNER.
Don't expect a cakewalk taking Professor Brunner, she challenges her students and if you are accustomed to fast-paced learning, I wouldn't take her. She lectures using lots of examples which are helpful. She is always willing to help answer questions and gives students a lot of opportunities to boost their grades toward the end of the semester.
I struggled with math my whole life but the way professor Brunner taught something finally just clicked. You do have to be there to do well in the class and also make sure you do your homework, but it's a college course that's expected. I would highly recommend Professor Brunner. Especially if you would like a more fast-paced class.
Horrible class to take online. I don't blame the teacher, online classes are what they are but, if you ask a question, the response usually isn't received until well after the assignment is due.
She is a solid professor but at times tries to rush through problems and makes mistakes that causes confusion amongst the class. The best thing I can say about her is that she is the fastest grader I have ever seen, she will legit have tests graded the same day you take them. Also, do your hw or you won't pass any of her tests/quizzes.
Terrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE HER !!
Professor Brunner is the fastest grader Ive ever had. Her lectures basically consisted of doing example problems. Doing the homework is important because the points add up. The quizzes are great study materials for the tests. Shes really nice and encourages to ask questions if you ever need help. I recommend!
due to the pandemic that occurred it was moved online. The amount of work was insane test/ quiz twice a week on top of homework. She set the whole class up for failure with the final, not allowing us to go back to previous question, making us upload work (with time limit), and explain the work we showed, changing the format we used ALL semester!
I've taken business calculus and college algebra with her and both times, it was just okay. Her class really isn't that bad if you put the effort in. She's a really fast grader, but very nit-picky too.
When I took Professor Brunner's class it was a breeze. She knew exactly what she was talking about and would always do a lot of example questions in class. She will always help a student no matter what. I would also say to talk to her and ask her questions as much as you can. Also doing the homework helps a lot. Make sure to watch the videos on MML
I had Brunner for my first semester at JJC and the first test she made super complicated and I didnt understand and turned it in my best abilities.... and she accused me of cheating, she then said if Im going to cheat I should drop the class. Not nice, made me feel stupid and treated me terribly in mist of a pandemic so I dropped her class.
This has been the worst experience for a math course I have ever had, The time limits for test are horrible & ridiculous. These time limits to submit work would be fine for an in-person lecture but for an online course it's not enough time and it becomes a huge issue if you don't finish by her time slot. I wouldn't recommend this class at all
She is very contradictory, rude, stressful, and accuses you of cheating. I am 48 and can't figure out calculators. 1st test, told me use a calculator, I wrote out my work too much. 2nd test, I got all the answers right, but gave me a 66% because she couldn't follow my work and it was too messy, accused me of cheating. Horrible class.
Mrs Brunner cared more about the grades rather than teaching the student. Her idea of teaching is linking lengthy, low quality videos of a different man teaching the material. She gives hours of homework, that you must pass before you are able to take the quiz for that chapter. Come test time, you get 60 minutes to do an unreasonable amount of work
Never had any Zoom lectures, never taught anything, took points off test for minor reasons, and made the class use useless videos (not made by her) to learn the material. There was a quiz or two every week. The homework did not count much towards your grade, so if I can have a high grade, but a C- in her gradebook. Overall, I did not learn anything
She was actually really nice, but for her online class she didnt teach very well. Her class was very confusing, I would study for hours and hours and still fail the tests. Her tests were all proctored online as well. Overall, This class was just too difficult to learn online.
I emailed her once and she never responded back, yet she always says to email her if you have any questions and such. I have never done so bad in math before so you could get a decent grade in any other class, but with her you will get the worst possible grade. She is also beyond picky with work that is shown on test.
I've gotten straight A's since high school and I really struggled with this class. Anytime I contacted Professor Brunner she was little to no aid, so I was kind of on my own. The textbook info isnt helpful and she doesnt post any of her own resources to help us learn the material. Pick a different professor.
Awful, worst experience ever
Never correctly responded to emails, when I managed to get a reply multiple questions were ignored. The process for this class was difficult and demanding online. If you take this class online, you will have to teach yourself tricky algebra because the course material does not go over the hard parts of the test.
It was a challenging class, but as someone who received Ds in high school math, I passed this class with a B, proving that it is most definitely doable! I recommend rewatching the required videos, working out problems before testing, completing all homework, and asking questions if you are having difficulty. Professor Brunner was kind and helpful.
Feels like she enjoys failing people. 22 kids at the start of semester turned into 8 by November of fall semester
worst class I have ever taken, the most stressful and loads of work weekly, takes forever to respond and doesn't even answer your actual question. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS. I REGRET TAKING THIS CLASS.
If you're taking this class, you HAVE TO be skilled in calculus. There is assignments every week and usually exams often. You are allowed to retake the homework till you get it right, which I appreciated! But the due dates are very close which was very difficult for me to manage. I ended up dropping the class by how stressed I was :/
She is a nice teacher but there are problems for that class. First, you have to learn the modules online and do homework with it and the tests and quizzes and you're given little time to do it. I was stressed out in the first week of school. It's so time consuming that I ended up dropping her hybrid Business calculas class the first day.
Her grading scale is incredibly strict, and partial credit is hard to come by. She will respond in a timely manner if you have questions, but a lot of the material is for you to learn on your own which can get stressful. I probably wouldn't take the course again.
All of the material you learn on your own with little to no assistance, I learned more from teachers off of Youtube. Tests are 1-2 times a month and is hard to pass with a D or better. Im surprised I even passed the class with a B.
took this class fall of 2022. homework and quizzes are so close together you almost have no time to understand any of the work. Tests are hard to take you can get 3 wrong and get a C. Unfair honestly. only thing that saved my grade was the final
On the chapter 3 test, I received a 76% percent. She consistently grades on work shown so my score went down to a 48%. That's ridiculous just for improper work shown especially when test answers can be found on the calculator. I ended up dropping the class as I had a 67% and do not recommend her class to anyone that struggles with math.
she has mymathlab quizzes and canvas quizzes, for the canvas quizzes some of them you have to type the answer and if you type it wrong she wont give you the credit for it. She really cares on how you show your work. I would really focus on the MML quizzes for the exams. Chapter r & 6 not on final exam. For the final study by using the exams.
Her lectures are not very straight forward and certain tests are very difficult, but if you study for a couple hours before each test and complete HW, it will be very hard to get anything lower than a B. She responds to emails very quickly and grades assignments/tests very quickly. If you are not somewhat gifted with math I do not recommend taking.
This was the worst professor I have ever had. She gives so much homework and your grade in the class fully depends on what you get on the exams. She takes forever to answer emails and grades extremely difficult on her exams and final. This was by far the worst class I have ever taken and DO NOT recommend taking this class with her.
Worst professor I have ever had. 55% of your grade are exams, she doesn't give any extra credit, you have to spend hours a week on homework and lectures. A lot of material isn't on the final exam so you waste time looking over material that wont be on there. My grade after the final went from a 75% to a 68.45% and didn't graduate bc of this class.
The course is far easier than regular Calculus so this was an easy A for me. There is a lot of homework but it is manageable if you begin it early. Plus, she will go over any questions you may have and even work out the question(s) so you can see where you went wrong. I would recommend her, but again it is calculus so be prepared to study.
This class with Professor Brunner was challenging, but unstuck study helped me a lot with exam prep. She grades strictly, so showing your work is crucial. With diligent studying and the right study tools, a decent grade is achievable.
Lectures are minimal notes and a ton of practice problems. She urges you to ask questions and go to the tutor center or her office hours. Nothing really over achieving, but show up and pay attention and go for extra help when you need it. Not the worst or best prof.
Took this course online Professor was not too helpful when it came to the point you were struggling TONS of homework per week No matter if you do very well on assignments, one test grade that isnt just as well will flunk your grade and is impossible to get back up I do not recommend taking this course online
