I had this class for a telecourse and it was so easy! Just complete the practice tests she gives you because those are the actual test. Easiest A I have ever received!
Very nice, very enthusiastic - as long as you spent 10 minutes before class reviewing the material, there is no reason not to make an "A"
Dr. Carpenter is very nice and very competent. She explains things well and adds interest to history. Be ready to write for your grade and turn it in on time!
Dr. Carpenter is an awesome teacher. I've taken her for four different courses and she is very knowledgable and easy to understand about all of them.

I took her Telecourse, which is the easiest class you could take. You have 3 tests, that come straight from the practice tests and 4 written assignments, which were not that hard. Take her if you need a history!
The best. LOVES her subject and makes us love it, too.
Great teacher. Covers all the material in class. All you have to do is show up and listen. You will learn a lot.
Great teacher! Makes the information interesting. Gives you a study sheet with all the terms you need to know and defines most of them in class during the lecture.
awesome! it's a pretty easy class, but in my opinion, it's easy because she makes it interesting. She's really clear in her lectures, and is really helpful! highly recommended!
Absolutely awesome! Made me love history too
Requires a good amount of study time, but the material is very clear and easy to understand
Dr. Carpenter is terrific, she is helpful, clear, funny and fair. I really enjoyed the class and came to have an appreciation for history! I would reccomend her to anyone!
dr. carpenter is a wonderful professor. she is so clear in her own way of teaching her students. i enjoyed her class very much & tell all of my friends to make sure to take history with her.
I hadn't been to college in 14 years. I am so thankful I have Dr. C as one of my frist professors upon returning. I love her class. And, yes, I think she is hot. :-)
she makes this class so fun and easy. She gives you EVERYTHING that you are going to need to succeed in that class. I took her for AMH 2010 AND AMH 2020 very excellent.
If your looking for an easy A....DO NOT TAKE HER!!!! Run for your freaking life!! I should not have listened to the people in here. Yeah she's nice....but her tests and quizzes are ridiculously hard! Enter at your own risk!! (This coming from a B+ student)
The study sheets do not help very much. All the quizzes are fill in the blank. Make sure you write your paper with what is in the book, otherwise, she is close-minded. If you have a choice, don't take this woman.
very easy, dont buy the book, just go to class, take notes on what she puts on the board. you get handouts of whats on the test. know those "words to know" and you'll get an A. dont even need the book!!
Usually History class is boring, but not this one. Her knowledge of and love for the subject is remarkable. She is what a teacher is supose to be. She lays everything out for you, but you do have study and work if you want an A. Take her, it's worth it.
I took this in an 8 week telecourse which actually ended at the 7th week. It was a bit tough since I had 3 other classes. It was a lot of work 14 chapters, 3 tests, 4 papers, 7 weeks eeekk!
SHE IS VERY NICE AND SHE GRADES FAIR. HER QUIZZES ARE A LITTLE TOUGH, BUT TAKE GOOD NOTES AND YOU SHOULD GET AN A OR B.
I missed a total of 3 classes at most and received a "D" she had no consideration. She's very sweet but at the end it was like the demon came out of her. I was at total shock when I received my grade I thought at worst I was getting a "C". Good luck, maybe it was just me.
i love the way she teaches
I can't stand History BUT Dr. Carpenter is simply AWESOME...you have to study but she makes History EXTREMELY interesting!!!! I made A's!TAKE HER!!!!!!!
Very good teacher :) Tests and quizzes are hard but study and study and you'll do fine. :) She talks alot too, so if you don't like taking notes dont take her other than that she is cool! (DONT BUY THE BOOK!)
Test wise, she did not prepare you for the test, she gives pathetic outlines they are pointless, her writing is horrible and not sturcture, is all over the place. quizes are the only thing she reviews for,but grade wise will wait until more than half of the class to tell you what is extra credit wel
I loved this class. I want to take a WST2020, if they offered it. Don't buy the book. Midterm and final are take-home. Letter grades are rounded up. It was so much fun - she had so many interesting things to say, and she really made me think - even outside of class. Great lady.
i think that her lectures are very dry. she is a nice person, but does not put any excitement into them she will put you to sleep like a tranquilizer.
My best teacher ever. I learned so much, and she made it so interesting. For all the bad reviews, you people are crazy. I would take her again and again if I could. Tests mirror the review handouts, but you do need to study.
One of the best teachers I've had so far. One of the nicest and sweetest. It helped that she really enjoyed teaching this particular class. Her midterm and final were both take home, which helped. I would definitely take another one of her classes.
The subject content was boring. However, the professor was organized and detailed. She graded the test in a timely manner, and returned calls promptly. Some of the questions on her tests were questionable. If you dispute the answer, she would review your situation; however, she may not change the sore/grade. Overall, she was a good teacher.
While she has a very clear style there are points left out which I feel are just as important to history. I think she stays to the middle of the road since the topic can reflect her political attitude and she does not want to let that go which holds her back I fear. One of my major problems with the class is the lack of self discovery which I place more on FCCJ then the Professor. This may be more a "control device" of the machine then the teaching method. I had fun with this class overall.
hardest class ever...she tells you what will be on the test but when you get to the test the questions are always unclear and will leave you guessing. she is really nice but be prepared to study a great deal.
She was the best history teacher I have ever had. I enjoyed every minute of her class. Her quizzes are not multiple choice so study, but I gurantee if u study you will get a good grade! I got an "A" in her class. It's nice to get a teacher who teaches. She is really into the lessons which helped me out a lot. MAke sure you take notes in class.
Great teacher, actually taking her for another class! But, it is not a easy A, Quizes are fill in the blank, and tests cover mulitipul chapters, Also it is important to take really good notes, it helps you on the tests and papers!
I've never been so bored in my life than when I took this woman's class. She NEVER shuts up and is always talking up until the last minute of class, never lets you leave early. She had us write a 10 page paper for fun, it wasn't fun at all! If you take her classes, take them with a friend so you have someone to be bored with.
she's really helpfull and she is totally resonsive! she's clear on instructions and her test are easy and helpful. don't pass her up. she makes a totally boring subject easier on us all!
I dreaded taking any type of history course. Carpenter does talk alot, but kept the history lectures very entertaining. The lecture outlines were very helpful. If you studied these, you will pass the tests. I received an A in her class. I would definitely recommend taking her courses. I plan to do so.
You have quizes, some short essays and timed tests. All of which are somewhat easy. I ended up doing all of the work and getting decent scores. I missed one test and ended up getting a D in the class. Thats not cool to me. Make sure you do all of your work in that class or you will end up taking it again.
i despise history, and when i started this class, i barely expected myself to get a C. her teaching style was very helpful, and her quizes were taken straight from the outlines. i wound up making an A in the class. my first time ever in a history class!
The best AH teacher I've ever had. She's very psychological with the subject and knows you don't want to be there. She goes deeper than the key words. Her language is beautiful. You'll have to pull your end and study piles of notecards, but that's required of any class. Three tests, 6 quizzes, and 4 EASY papers. Best teacher to choose from.
very interesting and funny
Dr Carpenter is an excellent professor.
Dr. Carpenter gives a different outlook on historical events that we have all been learning about since grade school. instead of dates and people, she focuses on the national and global aspects that set the events into motion. the facts are in the book to read about and she complements the material with her insight. would highly recommend.
The best teacher at FCCJ. Her passion for history really makes a difference in the classroom. Her class is simple and very easy to learn in. I learned so much this term and plan on taking her for amh 2020. She is very polite and is able to work with you. I recommend this class.
She is the most compassionate Professor I have ever had. There is a lot of reading but, if you do the reading you will get a great grade. She is very helpful and clear about the work. I took her online and she was awesome with next day responses to ANY emails or questions. AWESOME PROFESSOR. I would take her again in a heartbeat!
This class demands a lot of reading. The quizzes are easy, the tests are not too bad but I feel there is not enought time allowed to complete it. Most of what is on the quiz is on the test. Reading the chapters is a hugh part of the test. It is not recommended to read the chapters while taking the test because there is not time on the test.
She is very passonit about this course. A LOT of reading but the reading is fun. Only two take home exames and a journal. This class was a lot of fun.
i took her online class. it was SO easy! there are quizzes for each chapter and you can take them as many times as you like until you get a good grade. they are helpful for acing the tests - there are 3 major ones. also 10 essays, but each essay only has to have 200 words. easy easy EASY! easy A!
I took this class online, and it was great. There are 200 word essays due almost every week based on a passage in the book, quizzes for all 16 chapters you can retake as much as you like, and 3 open book exams. Make sure to keep up with the reading, and the class is a breeze. Great class! I am taking 2020 with her next semester!
I took this class online, and it was great. There are 200 word essays due every week based on a passage in the book, quizzes for all 16 chapters you can retake as much as you like, and 2 open book exams. If you print out every quiz you take, use that for the tests. Awesome Professor!!! Easy A!!
I thought this class would be hard online but it turned out to be quite easy. You do have to read alot. She gives quizzes for each chapter, but they are mainly for yourself to study. There are three tests and most questions from the quizzes are on the test. If you study you should do fine. She responds quickly to email and grading. Great teacher!
As a returning student after many years, getting my first "A" was great. The tests are a matter of reading and remembering. Dr. Carpenter was pretty quick to respond to e-mails and I'd give her and the class an "A". The book, however, was all over the place and crammed too much information in. Book gets a "D".
This teach has great communication skills! However, her tests are VERY hard to understand. I struggled with her tests as the questions are unclear- I did all of the Homework, Quizes, Lectures, Tests, Extra Credit and STILL got a C! I was VERY disappointed because I worked VERY hard because I take school VERY serious! I dont recommend HER!
The best teacher ever!!! History was my worst subject until I entered her class. I will recommend everyone to take this class.
On took this class online. Easy class! Weekly 200 word papers, weekly quizes that can be repeated as many times as you want (print these and use them for the exams) 3 exams.
A lot of work but worth it. Very easy. Quizzes weekly can take as often as you want. 4 Exams, 10 essay questions. Definitely take her!!!!!
Awesome teacher! Very helpful!! Just make sure you read and you will be fine. I am taking her again next semester for women's studies and am very excited. I can tell she is passionate about what she teaches.
Amazing Knowledge of history
She is THE best history teacher I have ever had. Instead of just having us memorize dates and facts, she explains the connections between events and helps you see the "whole picture." She's very clear and her lectures are interesting. She's a sweetheart and very respectful of students. I HIGHLY recommend her!!
LOVED HER!!!! Her assignments very easy. Very clear about her expectations. Answered e-mails very quickly. Wish she could teach every subject. Learned a lot from her.
The key is to remember you can take the chapter quizzes as many time as you wish and the tests are all open book. Yes you have to make the attempt but with a little effort it is an easy A.
Awesome professor!!! i took her 4 AMH2010 so i knew 2 take her for women studies. wonderful person, and actually makes history interesting 4 people like me who get bored with it. i suggest u take every one of her classes.
best history teacher. more than willing to help u
One of the nicest teachers I've had at FCCJ. I wasn't a fan of history before I took her class, but she made it some what interesting. 5 quizzes but they are easy and 3 test, Text book is required. Take her if you can.
I didn't like this teacher at all. Her tests were horrible and she wasn't helpful at all. Her expectations weren't very clear on what the formats actually were. Will never take a class with her again.
(Online course) Dr. Carpenter is well organized and responds to emails and posts grades quickly. Workload is comprised of a quiz & a short 200 word essay for each chapter, and 3 tests. For the quizzes, you can take them unlimited times until you receive a perfect score (hint: the Qs & As from the quizzes make up the tests, so study them. Easy A!
Took online- very easy class. Read the text book, copy the questions from the quizes, and do the writing assignments- you'll get an A, too!!! If you miss an assignment she will let you turn it in late for half the credit. Take this class!!!
Took Online- Class was not that hard. There is a lot of studying from the book. Stay ahead with your quizzes and essays. The course is heavily weight on your mid-term and final. The chapter quizzes can be taken, as many times as you want, but the questions are different. Overall not that bad of a class, she would be my second to third instructor if
Such an awesome professor. I loved going to her class. Her lectures are interesting and she gives you an outline for each chapter and a study guide for each quiz. Quizzes help u learn the material- tests right from the outline. u can write the essays straight from her notes! I got an A. but I was in class every day and I participated. A CUTIE!
Professor Carpenter is a very good History teacher. There are three exams, six quizzes and two papers throughout the semester. No homework. She makes the class interesting.
Online Class ~ HERE'S THE DEAL: You have 10 DBQs during the semester, which are sooo easy - all you have to do is read a passage out of the book and answer a simple question in 200 words (two paragraphs). There are 16 chapter quizzes which you can take as much as you want. Theres 3 exams that come STRAIGHT from the chapter quizzes. EASY A! Take her
Professor Carpenter is a very good history teacher. Work consists of three tests, six quizzes and two essays, no homework. The quizzes total up being 120 points and at the end they equal a test grade. You have a chance at having a 120 point test grade averaged in! Take really good notes, study them and you should pass.
Great teacher. Fun lectures. Easy quizes. Mid-term and final are essay style, but not hard.
History has always been difficult for me. This teacher is the best! Her lectures are step by step. Theere are 6 easy quizzes, 2 essays that will take some reading from the book but are not too bad, and 3 tests that are totally doable. She is extremly patient and will be glad to help you before or after class.
Professor Carpenter is a wonderful teacher. She uses film and lecture in her classes so you get to learn through different mediums. She is very nice and understanding and approachable. Her midterm and final are kind of hard (even though they're take-home). But she's an excellant teacher.
The easiest online class I've ever taken. NO discussion boards (yesss!), DBQ once a week, chapter quizzes that can be taken as many times as you want (and it doesn't even matter what you get on them because you get completion credit just for doing them), but get the right answers from them because the 3 exams come directly from the quizzes. Easy A!
took her online class. it was super easy, multiple tries on quizzes, 3 tests, no final, 10 200 word essays, couldnt ask for an easier class.
The professor jumps around, history is supposed to be in chronological order, but she doesn't teach like that. Hard to understand. No power point just lecture and sometimes writes on the board. Her quizes has no word banks and are fill in the blank, no half credits you either have the right answer or you dont. Reading the book is a MUST! NO EASY A!
Dr. Carpenter is THE BEST teacher I have ever taken. She is extremely smart and definitely knows her stuff. She lectures without notes or projector in front of her. She gives you a handout of all the words that will be on the quizzes and those exact words are on the test just in more detail. You will love the class! Very interesting!
She is a very sweet lady. Funny and made the class fun, I would def. recommend her. Her midterm and final are take home and the quizzes are easy, she lets you retake them and gives you exactly what you need to know. Overall it's a interesting class. If you take it, take it with her. She's very understanding.
She is very nice and keeps the lectures pretty interesting and makes jokes here and there. Her quizzes are so easy, but the tests are really hard for me. The tests ask very detailed questions, and it's best if you don't miss a lot of class.
I took this class online. Directions were easy to follow... One discussion question a week, quizzes for each chapter which you get credit for no matter how good/bad you do. Tests were hard... I read that she got all her test questions from the quizzes but I think she changed it. Just read the chapters and do the work and you will get an A
she explains very good if you go to class and take notes you will do really good...and listen to her lecture shes very well rounded
she is so sweet and funny. makes class lectures fun and interesting. its very easy to get an A, she is not too strict and lets you retake quizzes at the end of the semester. she's great and you really learn a lot from her classes
Honestly, one of the best teachers I have ever had. I would recommend her to anyone. She is very smart and gives you all the tools possible to get an A in her class, you just have to study of course. She is also very willing to help. I would take her again!
Wonderful teacher!! Very responsive. Always tell you due dates in advance. Responds to emails quickly. Easy A
Awesome! There are 10 db (200 word essays) due once a week (easy!), quizzes weekly (credit is given just for completing them), and 3 test (questions come straight from quizzes!) and that's it! She did give extra credit opportunity a few times! An easy A if you do the work!
Great professor, very kind and fair grader. Lets you make up missed tests and quizzes. You have to do a little out of class reading, but as long as you use her study guides and pay attention, it's an easy A. Take her!
Dr. Carpenter is an amazing professor. She's very flexible and understands that you have a life outside of the classroom. 3 tests 6 quizes 2 essays and an Extra credit assignment. I got an A. Will take again in near future. Highly recommend.
Awesome experience!
Pretty easy class. Lots of reading and weekly discussion board posts. Two tests, no final. Took online class and had no issues.
Professor Carpenter is amazing. She actually makes history interesting. YOU DO NOT NEED THE BOOK! Seriously, I didn't use the book at all. But I attended almost every class. All you need is to take notes and study them. And if she doesn't talk about it google it. 6 quizzes and three major tests. Extra credit opportunities. Very helpful and nice!
Dr. Carpenter is one of the best professors I've ever had. She is very clear about what she expects, and gives numerous opportunities for extra credit & to fix your grade. Tests and quizzes are pretty easy if you pay attention in class and do the study guides she gives you. I would recommend taking her anyday!
Dr. Carpenter is one of the best professors I have ever had. I took her for my women's studies class and she is very enthusiastic about the material. The textbook was barely used except for a few readings. 6 every easy vocab quizzes and one midterm and one project (type and interview of a woman)VERY EASY!
Best Teacher ever! Explains everything clearly. Gives you bonus points. Loves history. What more could you ask for?
Took her AMH 2010 and 2020 course. Lets you retake quizzes and exams. Easy to pass, and offeres extra credit. I would recommend her(:
Professor Carpenter is a great teacher. You should be prepared for A LOT of homework. WE had 6 quizzes, two exams, a journal that we were required to write a 3 page entry in every week. Plus two essay papers. The two exams were take home with several 500 word minimum essay questions. She's a sassy fun teacher though!
Great professor. Makes lectures fun. Announces quizzes (fill in the blank) and tests are multiple choice and matching. (2 essays that are easy if you take good notes) Overall easy and fun class. I would def take her again.
What a wonderful professor. She is very intelligent and is very enthusiastic. Because of her, I learned to love and appreciate history all and all.TAKE HER!!
This is the best teacher at FSCJ. She is clear, helpful, and will teach you everything there is to know about history. After taking her classes, you will remember what she has taught you. She is too hard, but tells you what she wants. She makes history interesting and tells it to you like a story. I wish we had more teachers like her.
Ms. Carpenter is one of the most clear, precise, dedicated professors I've had the pleasure of working with. She was always very helpful.
A++ awesome teacher!! best teacher ever!! take her class!!
LOVED HER! she is the best teacher at fscj!!! do not buy the text book, i never even opened mine and made a solid A in her class. :) TAKE HER!
Ms. carpenter is the best history teacher ever!!!! I never took notes never and openned my book and got 515 out of 550 possible points in her class and I lerned a ton. If you are reading this miss C I love you. -Your favorite student.
I love listening to Mrs. Carpenter's lectures. She truly made history come alive. By the end of the semester, I found myself hanging on every word she said- she made the material so gripping, like she was telling a story. Her study tools are helpful- nothing on the test was a surprise. She tells you what to study, and it's not hard to make an A.
She is amazing. The book isnt nesscessary just to refer too. Class is mandatory if you want the notes. Lectures and notes are basically tests. There are 3 tests and 2 essays and 6 quizzes. It was an easy class. She makes it very interesting and she is very intelligent!
Amazing Professor! She is very concerned about her students which I love because it's hard to find teachers like that. Her class is simple: just show up, get the notes and you should be fine. However, her quizzes DO NOT have a word bank so study. Otherwise, EASY!
If you do the Learnsmart, do well on the 6 quizzes, and do decent on the 3 test then you will get a good grade in the class
One of the top professors at FSCJ. I love her! Everyone should take her. She explains history like a story. It is so easy to listen to her and get an A. I took both her American History courses and I can't wait to take her Women's Studies course in the fall.
After reading the reviews, I thought I'd do well in this class. She was excited to teach but I was bored. She's a very nice person, but I felt she spoke too soft for a history class. I NEARLY fell asleep every class but maybe two. Too many vocab words to study for, and not enough of them on the quiz. I failed but maybe you'll pay better attention
WARNING:::: READ::: Prof. Carpenter is a very educated professor. I enjoyed her class lectures. However She is VERY Persnickety. She grades on emotions, and dumb errors. She isn't an English Professor, but she grades like one. I Do Not Recommend if you don't want a persnickety person!!!! BADD!!!
Professor Carpenter is an awesome professor. She explains very clearly and goes over the terms and readings she assigns in class. The women's issues we discuss are very informative. I think she is one of the best professors at FSCJ. I've taken her for AMH 2020 as well and if I needed anymore history's I would have taken her again! I love her style!
Mrs.Carpenter is a really nice person and gives you outlines for each chapter. She let us out 30 minutes early almost every day unless kids were asking questions, which she is 100% okay with. She has quizzes almost every week and they don't have a word bank, but she tells you EXACTLY what is going to be on them every time. I TOTALLY recommend her!
She's a sweet lady. But the project was ridiculous, her tests are unbelievably difficult, she doesn't prepare you for the tests, if you want to pass the tests you need to do A LOT of reading the textbook on your own. I never had any interest in history before, but her class was actually very interesting, she just doesn't prepare you for the tests.
Extremely sweet teacher! her quizzes are super easy you just have to study! Attendance isnt mandatory but if you dont read something she goes over it in class as usual. You do have to read a lot. She does grade like an english teacher.
Very nice lady. Vocab tests given once a week. Reading the novels is mandatory. She's picky win she grades, be prepared.
Professor Carpenter is very friendly and approachable. However, she has quizzes every other week with terms from class discussions. They are extremely difficult, and no matter how much I studied, I was still unprepared. Her term definitions given are vaguely worded.(No word bank for these quizzes)! Must work hard for a decent grade.
This professor is very nice and she means well and always trys to help you understand things, but...the quizzes and tests are hard, and she uses Learnsmart (which I personally hate because it takes too much time to finish them and I don't feel like it helps me learn). She isn't terrible, but be warned that its not an easy A.
Extremely nice lady and very willing to help Like people have said she uses term quizzes without a word bank she will give you the definition if you email her and is very helpful in that way I gave this class lots of effort and I feel like the A was truly easy just give it the time and you'll get it The oral history was easy just ask good questions
Easily the best History teacher I've ever had. I don't particularly care for History at all, but she makes it interesting, and easy. 2 quizzes per study guide, and 3 tests throughout the semester. All of it is really easy if you just use the study guide.
Professor Carpenter is extremely sweet. She makes history fun and portrays it like a story. You need to really study for the quizzes and tests, but they aren't too hard, I got an A on all of them. If you are not satisfied with your grade, she will let you make up some of the tests/quizzes. TAKE HER :D
LOVE her! Everything she teaches is very clear and she makes sure that you get a full understanding of the subject. Quizzes every other week, mainly vocab, just memorize definitions and they're not bad. Only used the textbook for definitions, never really read it. She has a slight sense of humor. I'd recommend her to ANYBODY!
I think Dr. Carpenter is a fantastic professor. Most of the course work is based from the articles/novels she assigns(a few films), you must read them. Quizzes are super easy if you study. I made a 98 on the mid-term, which was a take home exam. She makes you journal which isn't so bad. If you consider yourself a feminist take this class. Loved it
Professor Carpenter is an amazing professor to take for Women's Studies. She is very helpful and will explain anything that you do not understand. There are six quizzes but one is extra credit. Study really hard and you will get an A. I did. I would definitely recommend taking her.
I loved Mrs. Carpenter! She's such a sweet woman. It is imperative that you attend each class. Much of the information she lectures on cannot be found in the textbook. I only used the book for a few ID terms. Her tests and quizzes are fairly easy (and based on her lectures). There are two essays that weren't difficult. She offers extra credit too.
One very easy written paper. A lot of vocab quizzes that are fill in the blank with no word bank, but if you study they're fairly easy. 4 tests. Great teacher, and very passionate! A lot of extra credit opportunities. Very hard not to pass. Wouldn't buy textbook, only used to find vocab words hich u can find on google or get in class
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CLASS, I guess you could say she's not everyone's cup of tea. But most definitely the rudest professor I have come across. The quizzes, the tests, the books, and everything are manageable. As long as you stay on top definitely an easy A. But if you want just blatant disrespect from a professor, I suggest you take her.
Pretty easy. She gives you a study guide and use that! Also, gives you an outline. Use it and it help you stay organized and study. Make notecards and you cant fail. Quizzes 20pts each no word bank but easy. 2, 500 word essays-easy. No final.
If you have the opportunity take her! she is a great teacher. Explains everything that the quiz or test is going to have so, take notes and you will be fine. She tries to help her students to pass her class and her class is not boring at all. The best history teacher ever, take her!!!
Professor Carpenter was one of the best teachers I've ever had in my book. Everything should taught was clear and to the point. She also took her time to answer questions to help you understand the material. You have 2 essays, 4 tests and 8 quizzes total. Be sure to show up to class to take notes because mostly everything there is on the test.
Easy class as long as you pay attention to the lectures and do not zone out. I found the lectures very interesting! Vocab quizzes and tests are easy as long as you take really good notes on the note sheets she gives and make flash cards for the quizzes. I would definitely recommend her! Super nice too. Paying attention is key to passing this class.
Prof. Carpenter knows her history, she lectures as if she lived it, and if you love history youll like this class. I recommend buying a voice recorder because she does mention some things not in the book which will be on the test. It may also be needed for an oral history project. Must read book, pay attention & take good notes. Will not baby U.
Her lectures are crystal clear and usually interesting (If they aren't, it's the topic not the teaching). There's 3 tests and 1 paper, all worth 1/4 of your grade. Attendance isn't required; but if you do miss class, you will miss key terms and phrases she uses that make the quiz/test questions obvious.
omg i love mrs. c, shes literally amazing shes so sweet and her class is so easy just dont take it in the buttcrack of the morning kinda hard to stay awake. but shell do anything for you and shes such a sweet heart best teacher by far !
By far my favorite professor and favorite class to date! Dr. Carpenter gives a study guide for each quiz. The midterm and final are take home essay. Also she gives plenty of extra credit opportunities.
Such a great teacher and class. I enjoyed learning about history and actually understanding it which I've never done before. If you ask for help she will definitely give it to you. Only 2 papers, like 3 tests (not hard, if you took notes in class and paid attention), and about 6 quizzes (easy with notes).
Mrs. Carpenter is a super sweet teacher who teaches with lots of enthusiasm! Attendance is extremely important beacuse everything we learn in her lectures will be on the tests and quizzes. She only gave us 1 essay to write, 2 quizzes before every test and we only had to take 3 tests. Plus, we got a bounus quizz for extra points. Loved this class!
Professor Carpenter is an amazing professor!!! Her class is very simple: 6 quiz's (one is extra credit), 1 paper, and two take home exams. She is so sweet and her class is very interesting! 10/10 would recommend.
Lecture heavy, but it all has to do with the quizzes and tests she gives you. They're all fairly easy if you study the material. She's very passionate about the course, and sometimes she can talk a lot but it all has to do with the tests and quizzes. I would take her again if I needed another history class.
Great choice
All her lectures are based the quizzes and tests, so pay attention in class. She is passionate about history. Study the material and make flash cards for the tests and quizzes. Also, she is willing to help you. There is one project and thats interviewing a person for an oral history project. Just study and you will be fine. Good professor!
Very Easy A. Just study terms for quizzes. Attend class, everything she says is on the test and everything she hands out is on the quiz. Simple. No more than an hour a day of studying. Maybe even less.
She is the sweetest professor. I took her for Women's Studies and she was always open to debate and conversation. Her midterm and final were take home and easy as long as you payed attention in class. She's very passionate about history and it shows in the way she speaks. She's always willing to listen and work with you. Quizzes are very easy!
I took her American History class a few years ago when this college was FCCJ. This was the best course that I have ever taken! If my work schedule was better I would have dated her the following year! :)
Great Professor! Would take again. Funny, outgoing, cares about students. Can actually teach. No textbook use required. Study guides given is practically the test.
Hands down one of the nicest professors I have ever come across, she really knows what she's doiong. As long as you follow along with her lectures and study guides, you'll be set up for an A. Her class is super easy if you apply yourself and study before tests/quizzes. She is very good about responding to emails and puts grades in FAST!
Professor Carpenter is a great teacher, but honestly I dreaded going to her class every week. She is such a nice person and the class itself is pretty easy she just talks the entire time and doesn't use powerpoint or anything so its very boring. You have around 6 quizzes no word bank but their easy if you study! 2 papers and 3 tests.
I love professor Carpenter! She explains everything so well and clear so, if you pay attention to her lectures you should pass every test and quiz. She gives 3 quizzes before every test and you have 3 test plus the final. I would definitely take this professor again!
The professor is extremely enthusiastic and in love with the material, which makes it even more interesting to listen to. Very sweet and understanding.
She's an amazing person, her class is not that hard if you attend her class and pay attention to her lectures. She gives all the information needed for your 2 essays, 6 quizzes, 3 tests and to keep for the future. I recommend her.
Her class was really difficult to sit through only because of her teaching style. She just stands there and talks the entire time. Her quizzes can be difficult since you don't get a word bank but I mean, this class honestly isn't hard. It does take studying time. She wants you to earn your grade for sure. She's super sweet and caring!
She is an amazing professor! I took her three times! for AMH and WST. She talks all of class but it is so interesting. Her quizzes are super easy and she only make you write two papers.
Flat out awesome teacher, very caring, not tough at all
She is absolutely amazing. Whatever she teaches in class will be on the tests. She doesnt miss anything. You have two quizzes before each test. Then a small essay due after the test. The amount of tests depenfs on the class you take
Great Professor! Easy class.. Study Guides are straight forward. If you take notes, attend class and study- YOU will pass easily. The grades are made up of 6 quizzes and 4 major exams and 2 papers. She responds to e-mails quickly and always wiling to help after hours. She doesn't give unnecessary lectures, she tells you EVERYTHING you need to know.
Loved her and loved the class! So interesting and such a relevant class for today! Full of great and engaging discussions. Six quizzes, two exams, one paper; plenty of extra credit.
Really great professor. Took the AMH 2010 class and I'm taking her again in spring for 2020. Textbook is free and online. I usually only accessed it when writing the two papers. The lectures are great and pretty much give you all you need to know.
Prof. Carpenter is a wonderful History professor, very passionate about the subject. Course is VERY lecture heavy but the lectures will cover literally everything you need to pass the tests and quizzes. She has study guides for every quiz that are extremely helpful. Essays are not at all difficult, parameters are very clear and not hard to meet.
This was a very easy class. I took this 15 week class in Spring 2018. Dr. Carpenter is an amazing teacher. There are 6 quizzes, 14 journal entries that are turned in two times throughout the semester. The midterm and final are take home exams. You read two novels and short essays from one book. Take good notes because you need them for the exams.
Love this professor! She's very knowledgeable about the topics she taught and her lectures were so interesting! 2 essays, 3 tests, 6 quizzes.
Professor Carpenter is the most passionate and caring person. She LOVES history and will make you love it too. She has so much energy and excitement when lecturing. Her class is very lecture heavy. Make sure to study study for the quizes and tests! If you try your best, you will recieve an A! Highly reccomend her for history classes!
Go to class and take notes and you will do great. No book required. She is kind and passionate about history. I learned a lot and did not feel overwhelemed at all in her class. Very clear expectations. Do yourself a favor and go to every class, like I did, and you will have to do very minimal studying outside of class. Wicked quick grader!
I'm just in awe of her... She is SO sweet. I'm halfway through her class right now and I just NEED to tell yall to take her. She's so understanding and so fun to vent to. She's extremely passionate about her history.,She's a real gem. She'll tell you how it is face front, which is how I learn best.
This is one of the best classes you will take. This class has been the most mediocre in terms of work. It not an easy A but if you do the work you can get an A. There are quizzes which she gives you study guides for and you go over them in class. There is a paper and Journal you have to do. Midterm and final take home. The best class
Professor Carpenter is an amazing professor. Always quick to respond to emails and ready to help you at any time. I will be telling my friends to take this course!!!
Took Dr. Carpenter for WST2010. Very clear grading, everything is set into stone. Quizzes are the hardest part of the class, but I always studied the day of and passed. There are journal entries, midterm and final but as long as you come to class the work is easy and self explanatory. The nicest professor EVER. Enjoyed her & very understanding.
Very sweet lady who cares a lot. Always is very clear about assignments and when things are due. Very helpful when you have questions. Highly recommend!
I loved her. This is a teacher who is passionate about what she does! Take her I promise you wont regret it! The material is lengthy but, if you prepare well and study there is no reason why you shouldnt pass. She is quick with emails and has clear grading criterias. Take notes and ask questions if you want more understanding it will help you!
She is one of the best history profs I've ever had! She is very kind and wants her students to succeed. The class is fairly easy. We got to do a project where we created our own character and wrote about them throughout the course. I absolutely loved doing that! She always gave great feedback and responded to emails in a timely manner.
I first took Professor carpenter's AMH2020 course then decided to also take her WST2010 course because I enjoyed her teaching so much! She is kind and understanding and wants her students to succeed. The class is clearly outlined in the syllabus and she checks in with the class to see what we needed extra instruction on. Take her courses!
I took Dr. Carpenter's WST2010 and then AMH2020. She is a great instructor that makes learning history interesting and fun. Attendance is necessary because the majority of the quiz and test questions are based on classroom lectures. In both of my classes, one of the quizzes counted as full extra credit (20 pts).
This was my third time taking one of her classes. If you show up to class and take notes while she lectures , this course would be an easy A. No homework , 6 quizzes ( one is a bonus quiz for extra credit) , 3 tests and 3 essays ( only 500 words each). She is very passionate about history and is always glad to answer any questions.
A GEM. I loved her lectures, she's such a critical thinker but lets you think for yourself. We didn't use the text, but we did have reading checks on the autobiographies she assigned. So sweet, caring, and will answer all your questions in depth. She knows what she's talking about, she made the class! What I wouldn't give to have her again!
I'm glad I took the class but I had a difficult time trying to meet the rubric. As long as you read the textbook and do the work on time you'll be good. Also, DONT FORGET CITATIONS. She's really big on that. otherwise not a bad class just a little difficult.
11 (250 word) essays - one a week, 10 quizzes, 2 (500 word) essays. She is a very tough grader on writing - the hardest I've had in all of my courses. APA citations in paper are a must. Perfect works cited page is a must. You MIGHT get full points if you do that. Honestly, only class I was worried about my grade in for the entirety of college trek.
I enjoyed Professor Carpenter's class! She was very caring towards us students and her lectures were wonderful! There were a lot of essays to write but most of them only required at least 250 words. I loved that there was no textbook requirement, everything was online. She always gave feedback on each essay and that was appreciated.
Took her online class. Unbelievable amount of reading and writing. Harsh grader on the essays even after proofreading them with a tutor.
AMH2020 is the perfect class for people who love history and reading. Dr.Carpenter provides clear grading criteria- uses rubrics, and states everything expected in the directions. 2 Short essays a week + quiz. If you put the work in and answer all parts of the prompts, your grade will reflect it. I would 100% take her again.
