I took this class over the summer n was able to pass with a B. It's a critical thinking class so u gotta think about the stuff. Go to class n do the exercises in the course pack n ull be ok. Course pack is very helpful n so r her study guides. Nice lady.
a little challenging, but she is fair. If you study, you can get good grades. However, she is a VERY good instructor. I learned so much from her this summer
nice teacher, but a bit too challenging!
Shohs is a really great professor. Follow the notes that she gives you, and you will get an A. She makes the class very intresting.
she is a very good teacher, the class has a lot of information, but she is very good at explaining it. she also shows a lot of films and stuff to help you understand. but you do need to study and go to class.
She is a very sweet lady. Her abnormal class is extremely easy. If you read and go to class it should be an easy A.
this teacher is absolutly wonderful. she is such a good teacher. she explains and talks and helps you understand. she is the best out there. =
she was awesome! everything she teaches comes straight from her text. she clearly explains everything and gives great examples. she knows her stuff! just read up and you'll be fine! there's a lot of info to be learned but not difficult.
by far, she is the best professor in the psych dep. Her notes are clear and lectures are easy to follow. This class was the highlight of my day.
Nice teacher. Easy at first, but then later it was hard. I barely passed thanks to my good attendance. It's hard especially if you're not a psych major.
Good sense of humor. Tests straight out of the packet, word for word. It would be harder to fail the class then pass it.
She is a nice teacher, I learned a lot. The class has a lot of info so you have to study hard to get an A but she is very fair. Tests are straight from her packet but it helps to read the book if things are unclear. Go to class and studying ahead of test=A in her class. One of the best teachers in the psych department :0)
Professor Stohs was a great professor! She was VERY willing to help her students achieve their goals and pass her class. She provided thorough materials and if you paid attention in class you always knew exactly what would be covered on exams.
The stuff you do in class is a little pointless, but it get's you an A. So sweet! I hope I look that hot when I am her age!
I did't even buy the book or even go to class everday. Just went the day before the tests and averaged a C. Good teacher...but all you need is her Study Book to pass.

Very interesting class taught by a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable professor. Stohs always tried her best to make the class enjoyable. The class can be difficult at times, since there is a lot of rote memorization involved. I made out with a B+ but put in quite a bit of studying. Just read her study packet and the text to fill in the blanks:o)
EASY! DON'T buy the book. Just buy the study guide she make and lil professor and you don't even have to go to class cuz she just lectures off her book. Tests are easy, got REALLY lazy and still managed a B- :P
very easy, like the person below said, dont need to buy the book, her tests are based off the green study guide book and before the tests she passes out study guides. wonderful teacher.
very good teacher! very helpfull. Don't buy the book, just listen to lectures and USE THE STUDY GUIDE. Take notes directly on the study guide, it helped me...
Soft-spoken teacher. Don't buy the book, but get the course packet from Little Professor. Good at illustrating the coursework, uses videos of people with psych abnormalities and shows some therapy methods. Her tests are somewhat difficult but you will do fine if you study the course packet.
Tests are directly from the course pack. Lots of material to learn, but it's not insanely hard. She's quiet, but nice. Overall, we didn't have to turn in many assignments... just a few in class exercises that were usually done in groups.
Buy the course packet and you'll be set, don't bother with the book. Tests are pretty straight forward, majority from the course packet. Go to class for the video examples, they illustrate the various disorders extremely well. Pretty easy class.
This class was a wonderful ending to my PSYC program. Prof Stohs is soft-spoken but caring and it is nice to have a teacher so personally invested in your field placement experience. Course packet is very helpful. There is a 10pg paper at the end but it is not too hard since you have a long list of things to address from the assignment page.
Dont buy text book just buy the note book, but read it very carefully and STUDY hard! test could be tricky. Watch out for the essay part on the tests, she grades very hard on that. Always wants alot of detail on that part. Overall good professor, although when i asked her for help she didnt do to much on helping me. Go to class as much as possible
DONT BUY TEXTBOOK, YOU ONLY NEED HER NOTEBOOK. PAY ATTENTION AND LISTEN TO HER, I COULDNT IT WAS SOMETHING ABOUT HER THAT WAS WIERD, I DID NOT LIKE HER, EVERYONE BELOW IS MAKIN IT SEEM LIKE SHE IS COOL AND AN EASY CLASS, BUT I HAVE TO RETAKE THE CLASS, BECAUSE I DID NOT GET THE GRADE I NEED (PSYCH IS MY MAJOR) BUT I AM DEFINITELY AVOIDING HER CLAS
She is an amazing teacher. She uses lots of video clips, stories and group activities to engage you in the topics. She also is very approachable. You can come and talk to her about anything and she is genuinely interested. She wants you to succeed in her class. You don't need to buy the book. I never used mine. Just buy her course packet.
Class does not meet every week, but it all works out since you work about 10 hrs per week for the internship. she's very nice and understanding, but you'll never get out early. I enjoyed her class, altho it was mainly spent talking in groups about our experiences. Easy A
Great !!Good personality, helpful, even tempered, and not boring. Very nice lady. She is interested in her students. Defenitely take her.
Dr. Stohs is an easy teacher if you study in her class. Her exams cover practically everything. You can get by with a B if you study her study guide alone, but I recommend the book because it complements her notes. If you listen very carefully and take good notes, the study guide is efficient. I got an A. It was easy but involved work.
She's ultra helpful and very patient. Her tests and quizzes are really easy as long as you keep up on the reading!
Best teacher I had in all of my undergrad. Really totally awesome. Super nice and helpful and supportive. Wrote me my only faculty letter of recomendation. She's like your mom or younger grandma if your mom or grandma is super smart and helpful. DO NOT MISS THIS OPERTUNITY!
Dr. Stohs has become my favorite professor at this school. It is shameful that we have such bad professors in the Psychology department but take her and you will not doubt your decision!
One of the nicest people I have ever met. Easy class. Highly recommended!
Well first of all, Professor Soths is a nice teacher, but during the semester half of the class did not show up because he lectures came from straight from her packet and some of the book. I noticed people dozing off in her class. If you really like psychology take her and the class is a challenge.
Dr. STohs is very knowledgeable & presents the course information very clearly. She really tries to get the class involved in possible diagnoses & to differntiate between several disorders. 4 exams, lowest score dropped, plus a cumulative final. READ & STUDY the course packet and you'll earn an A.
Great class! Just read her course packet like a hawk & you'll get an A in her class! She's very nice & really knows a lot about abnormal psychology. I would definitely recommend her class!
Prof. Stohs is amazing! She is so kind and knowledgeable. She is really compassionate and sincere about what she does. Highly recommend her for any class.
Very nice person and professor. Highly reccomend her. She is soft spoken and welcoming. She stays relevant in her field and likes to help her students.
She is the Best, very easy going Dr. just attend class/lectures, read your course book + text book and you will do fine! I LOVED her class! she is an amazing Teacher :)I want to keep taking her in other classes.
Very sweet lady. Make sure you call her "Dr. Stohs" though! She is very patient and will explain a concept over and over until you understand it.
Dr. Stohs is VERY nice! She is very knowledgeable and passionate about the field of psych. for the field placement class you only have like 5 class meetings. 4 one-page journals and a short paper. i should also mention that she has to be the most gorgeous lady i've ever seen! WOW i want to know her secret for looking so young
Dr. Stohs is awesome! She is very clear and concise. She cares for her students. Her tests were generally from the course packet. I rarely used the textbook at all. It would be a good idea to attend her lectures because she often has surprise in-class activities. Just study for tests from the packet and get yo A! :)
Good teacher and always willing to help her students. She is very nice and drops your lowest mid term score. Never assigns homework, and just study for the test and you will be fine. Take her
Class consists of 3 midterms, lowest score is dropped, 1 project,1 essay, and final. Easy if you read the bold stuff in the book and study course pack. Very nice teacher.
Loved this professor. Her class was challenging. I got an A but I worked for it. Her class was fun, and she has a cute sense of humor.I wish I was a psych major so I could take her again. Don't hesitate to take her.
Great teacher! She was nice and the class was pretty easy as long as you followed with her lectures :) I actually never did the reading and got an A. You do some fun activities like watch Sherlock Holmes :) I enjoyed it a lot!
Stohs is an amazing professor. She is passionate and very clear on what she wants students to learn. Exams are easy (mult. choice & short answers) study EVERYTHING on the study guides. She'll tell you when to come for in-class work. Overall, chill class and to the point.
DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! You can pass the class by just buying the course packet. The exams are straight from the course packet. Three exams + finals, lowest score will be dropped (exams only)! Going to class can be helpful because of the videos she shows in class. Go to class on activity days! You get some points for it. I got a B- in the class.
Pretty interesting class. Cool professor. Gives you everything through the power points which are posted online. You only need the course packet not the actual book. Haven't used it once. 4 tests all mc, show up on exercise days. They help with points.
Dr. Stohs is an amazing professor at CSUF. Her lectures are easy to understand and she is willing to help you after class or in office hours if needed. Lovely woman, always in a good mood and is very passionate about this subject. You don't need to buy the book, just study the course pack and you'll be fine. I got an A. Will take her again.
She's amazing!
She is excellent. She puts the material in a way that is easy to understands. Clearly separates the theories and provide precise examps to grasp all the info. She provids excersise to master the material. By far, one of the best college professor, too bad I found her until my senior year. (By the way course assistants as they are super helpful)
Yes she is great and easy to understand but its a tough class. It's doable but you have to study. Don't buy the textbook. Buy her course packet and bring the notes. For exams, study both the lecture notes and the packet, then you'll do great. Exams include %, w/m, scenario questions, best theories for the disorder and drugs. Final is accumulative.
DON'T BUY TEXTBOOK, do buy course packet. her study guides are very straight forward and can be completed using her powerpoints (titanium) and her course packet. very interesting class, but a lot of information so you actually need to study if you want an A. attendance not mandatory, she has in-class exercises but tells you when they will be.
She is a very nice teacher and is very passionate about teaching the subject, but she is not very good. All she does is read off her powerpoints that are NOT at all online that do not make a lot of sense. When you ask for clarification all she does is re-read the slide again. I would take another professor if possible.
Abnormal psychology was one of the most difficult courses out all psychology courses that I have taken CSUF. Dr. Stohs follows a straight grading scale and barely gives out extra credit. Book is unnecessary. To earn the A, study hard from the ppt and course packets as all of her exam questions comes from there. Exams are very detailed and 50 MC
Dr. Stohs is a great professor. I took her 5 week summer session class for Abnormal Psychology and she was very reasonable. She provides you with a course packet so you truly don't need the book to receive a good grade since she provides online notes as well. I bought it just in case and never opened it once. Very enthusiastic and fair.
If you are a physical learner, she is not for you. She zooms through her slides, not allowing you to take notes. The book is drab as well. She is a lovely person, but I can't personally learn well from her teaching style. I've had to reteach myself everything she has talked about. She doesn't emphasize on important details. It all becomes a blur.
Took her for the internship course online. Very easy assignments, but a TON of them. It seemed like a bunch of busywork. But if you do them all, it's an easy A. I didn't even do the last journal because I already had enough points for the A.
Great Professor! Dr. Stohs is a very helpful, genuine, pragmatic, and kind professor. Her lectures are entertaining, applicational, and full of interesting material. You need her required course packet to pass the class. She helps you succeed in earning a good grade and she has a fun and optimistic personality. You learn a lot and it is fun too!
Professor Stohs has a great sense of humor and the class is easy to pass if you do the work. Her lectures are the biggest tool to use for each test as well as the course packet she makes specifically for this class. If you study the course packet, the tests aren't that difficult. She gives assignments periodically which can help to raise grades.
You definitely need her blue course packet to pass. Everything you need is in there. She gives detailed study guides and drops one exam. The final is cumulative with a study guide and study session to make it easier. She explains everything very clearly and has powerpoints as well. Loved this class.
She was so helpful and kind. I really enjoyed this class.
Professor was extremely straight-forward in what was expected, and gave immediate feedback to all assignments. This class really helped me adjust to my internship and get the most out of it. Assignments were given early so that they could be completed in my own time. There were no group projects and no tests.
Dr. Stohs is an excellent professor on the subject of abnormal psychology. Her lectures are extremely informational but easy to follow. Dr. Stohs cares about her students success and is an expert in the field. I would highly recommend her class. Her assignments are explained well and not to difficult and tests are manageable. Dr. Stohs is great!!!
you get some fridays off to do online work. must buy note packet for $20. class attendance is not mandatory if your are good at studying but her classes are pretty fun. she has good TAs which give good study sessions. my semester we had Rebecca and Brandon who were so helpful.
Lectures are super clear and so is her packet! All of the powerpoint of available online and she sticks to the book. If you're a decent student there's no way you can't pass. The TAs are awesome and held several review sessions over the semester. She gives scenarios, which are way more beneficial for learning, I learner a crap ton in this class.
Pretty easy as long as you attend. The exams have a lot of case studies, so know the disorders and the best treatments.
Dr. Stoh's was and still is to this day one of my favorite professor's. She is energetic in her lectures (not monotoned), the subject is incredibly interesting and she teaches it well (very detailed and clear), and she runs the class well (good time management and relevant information. You'll learn and have a lot of fun in this class.
DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK! She makes her own notebook/worksheet that's mandatory($15) and is all the important stuff from the textbook. Then she makes powerpoints that's all the important stuff from her notebook. She tests on these two things and never on the textbook. Bought textbook and haven't opened it once. Awesome professor. HIGHLY recommend.
Dr. Stohs is one of the best professors you will ever take at CSUF. This course is extremely interesting (for psych or GE) and she makes the material easy to understand. She always knows what she is talking about and really cares about her students and their academic success. You don't need the book but her course pack is the bible of the course.
Dr. Stohs is a great professor that provides you with all the information you need to do well in the class (Powerpoints, Course Packet, office hours). Very approachable and welcomes questions in class. Highly recommend to take the course with her as well as other classes she teaches.
I love Dr. Stohs! She is such a sweetheart and truly cares about her students. I hardly used the textbook for the tests, but it's a good read if you can get it cheap. Notes are online and in course packet. She also has TAs who have study groups/send out study guides that are pretty much identical to the test. If you can take her, TAKE HER!!!!!
Dr. Stohs is the best the teacher in the whole wide world!! Out of all the psychology professors at CSUF, she is hands down the best teacher EVER. I recommend you all take her. It will be an experience you'll never forget.
Let me tell you a story about the best professor in Cal State Fullerton. This professor is funny, has a contagious bubbly personality, has amazing lectures (that keep you wanting more after each class), and a reasonable grader! I would take another one of her classes in a heart beat! Listen to me and TAKE HER CLASS, ANY CLASS.
She has a course packet so you dont need the book. 4 exams, but drops one of them, the final is cumulative. You really need to know details to get an A, causes, symptoms, & treatments of each disorder. Offers at least 10 points of EC and her course assistants are helpful, they have review sessions before each test, but that will only get you a B
This was a very interesting class, and i feel Dr. Stohs is a great professor. However, the exams are very challenging and i felt as if the material blended together when it came down to identifying certain disorders. Just be ready to read read read.
Dr. Stohs is an amazing professor! She is well organized, helpful, & wants her students to do well. If you study her workbook, the textbook, & do the assignments then you will do well on the tests. She also had review sessions before the tests that really helped. Her teachers aid was also amazing. I wish more professors were like Dr. Stohs.
Dr. Stohs took an interesting topic of abnormal psych and brought it to life. You can really tell how passionate she is about her job and it really shows in the way that she teaches. Her enthusiasm made the class much more enjoyable and really helped me stay engaged in all discussions. She makes her self very available and wants you to succeed.
I loved this class. Took it during July with the hybrid. Basically we would do the hw from the course packet and read it, study, listen to the lectures on our own & then in class we would review for the exam. Few short answers (except the final) and multiple choice for the exam. Really wish I took this class during the regular semester instead.
She likes to show videos to help you understand the topics more and makes class more interesting. She had a few homework assignments but she gave study guides for the tests and were pretty to the point along with the lecture slides her student teachers sent out. Really cute and cares for all her students
A moderately challenging class; just read and study the material. Her course packet outlines everything pretty well & study guides are a great resource. Final is cumulative and a LOT to memorize, which why my grade dropped from an A to a B. Just study super hard. Sometimes has in class exercises so you need to show up.
Took this class as a non psych major, but thought it would be interesting for my last semester before graduating. She has three students grade everything and do all the work for her, so you would think she could give you the correct grade. I had to fight to get my grade changed, hard to get a hold of. Hard tests, and lack of response.
I enjoyed having her as a professor, she makes the class more interesting than it already is. While the tests aren't easy, studying hard makes all the difference. Be sure to attend classes otherwise you will find yourself a bit lost. Dr. Stohs facilitates discussions well and responds to emails quickly, and is willing to help outside of class.
Dr. Stohs is such a passionate professor! She makes the class more interesting by showing videos and sharing few real-life stories. The topics are not always as easy as they seem, but if you read your book and course packet, and show up to class, you will do pretty well. I really suggest that you take her class if you need to. You won't regret it!
Dr. Stohs makes the course material interesting and easy to understand. She is easy to talk to and really cares about her students. We mostly went by what is in the course packet, that is a must to purchase! Did not read the textbook. I learned so much about abnormal psychology, I feel confident that I can diagnose or recognize mental disorders.
Read the binder she gives you, you need that along with listening to her lectures and the class is really easy.
don't bother with the textbook get the course packet everything you will need for the class is all in the course packet. don't be afraid to ask the CA for help they can help save you so much hassle. attendance is not mandatory but she gives out 5 assignments from the packet to do in class. final is cumulative but if you put in the time you'll pass
She's awesome! She's very organized and a really nice person. Just as long as you read and study hard the class is not so bad. Make sure you go to the review sessions she holds before each test; they help A LOT.
This is a professor you can learn from. Very structured and gives opportunities for points by giving assignments (they are helpful). She has study review sessions and guides that help. 3 exams + Cumulative final and she drops lowest exam (not incl. final). We watch a lot of videos and go over the course packet throughout class. I liked this class
The best class ever! 3 exams(she drops the lowest one), 1 paper(about 2 pages), 5 written assignments in class(worth 10 points), and a cumulative final. Don't buy the book all you need is the course packet. The answers to her test questions were soooo obvious. It's an easy A but you still have to study for the exams
She is AMAZING! I've taken her for 341 (Abnormal) & 495 (Field Placement). I would take her for every psych class if I could. Very approachable and responds to emails quickly. She wants you to pass & understand material. Exams are not EASY, they are appropriately challenging. She provides you with everything you need to pass. Use Study guides & CP
Wow! She is good however if youre not an independent learner then this class may not be the best fit for yourself. Lecture vids are posted online and in class you work answering questions. Pop exercises! So dont miss! Study guides and course packet are helpful! Book help a lot too. Exams are very challenging so if you dont study you wont pass.
Professor is alright. Not my style of teaching however; she is a great professor if you want help or need the help she will give it to you. not an EASY A. The work you put in will give you the grade you deserve. Independent learner take her class. If you are not an independent leaner do not take her class. A good professor. Just not my style.
She was a good professor. kept the lecture straight to the point. do your homework, attend class - she gives random credit for classwork on random days. I really wish I would have cared more during her class.. good sense of humor, relatable examples, nice, good videos. Definitely recommend .
If you put in the effort to read the text and/or watch the online lectures she provides and do the hw, youll do well. Exams are straightforward and not difficult, except the final was a little harder. Do not skip the hour long study sessions she holds on exam days , they are a great review! Dr. Stohs is sweet and wants her students to succeed.
Youre required to buy a course packet for her class that has in class activities which will be graded. She goes through material very fast and does not help students. The TAs in the course does her job for her. Only have I seen her help a student once. Shes basically getting paid to read to us. It takes her 2-3 days to reply to emails. Horrible.
She presents the material in an easy to understand way, lectures are online. Class is out of 500 points. 3 midterms, 1 final, 5 in class pop exercises (10 pts each from course packet). 1 midterm is dropped. The tests are 50 and the final is 100 MC Qs ; easy if you look over the course packet for a hour or two before exams. Do the extra credit.
This class was very interesting and there are many opportunities to do well. She drops the lowest exam score and is an easy grader on assignments. Theres hardly homework, just in class assignments. thats the only time attendance matters. She's the best abnormal psych prof CSUF has.
Dr. Stohs is an amazing professor. She answer emails fast, and available during office hours. The class itself has a lot of information, but it is easy to understand and she breaks it down in simpler terms in her course packet. There are in-class writing assignments that are easy, and she will help you with it during class. I highly suggest her!
Dr. Stohs is one of my favorite professors of all time! She is very passionate about what she teaches! She uses different resources to help her students understand. (course pack, PowerPoints, online videos, and in-class activities) She is extremely responsive and caring and normally posts the grades within hours after an exam! Highly recommended!!
Dr. Stohs has one of the most organized and clear grading structure of any psych professor. She typically posts exam scores the day of the test and responds quick to emails. I loved how she her lectures are correlated to her exams and that is always a plus! Some extra credit. Def recommend!
Dr. Stohs is an excellent professor. She clearly outlines the class expectations and breaks down a large amount of content in a way that really makes sense. Her lectures and class activities give you a great understanding of what will be on the test. Show up and take notes and you will succeed.
Very structured and responsive. Super hard class, I did all reading, vids & study sessions still got a bad grade. She won't raise if its .99%, test are tricky and final cumulative. TA's do everything and one of them would always bust my lady balls, I would put the same exact thing as my partner in actives & get graded lower. count ur scores w test
Stohs is a good teacher. Her lectures are heavy, but she knows what she is talking about. Clear grading criteria + extra credit offered. Her exams are easy as long as you do the reading and know symptoms, treatment, & scenarios. A lot of her questions play off each other. So miss 1 and you may miss the next 3. I would recommend her and take again!
Dr. Stohs is by far one of the most detailed and organized professors I have taken a course with. Her videos are very informative. She is clear about her exceptions. Her exams can be tricky. Make sure you understand each disorders that is discussed in class along with a treatment plan.
Dr. Stohs is the best professor I've ever had in my whole student life. Her class is super short, she has videos of her lectures online. She is clear about the material, and super organized. As long as you read her course package, study for the exam review powerpoints, it's super doable to get an A+, don't ever get the book. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!!
Professor Stohs is very knowledgable and great at lecturing. This class taught me a lot and I like how she doesnt require attendance. I also enjoy watching her lectures online because I can go at my own pace. She also gives study guides which help for the test. This class is very interesting!
Took it as a hybrid class. Pretty easy overall, but test questions can be worded really weird. In-class assignments are given randomly, so its best to show up to class just in case. There's lots of extra credit given. TAs are super helpful. Lecture videos are posted online, so you can watch them at your own pace as long as you do it by the test.
Great Professor. Easy A for an internship class. I would take her again in a heartbeat.
My class was a hybrid, 2 days in class & 1 online. Read the book & listen to her online lectures. Very few things to turn in, a few in class assignments, class participation and buy the course pack. Know the material well or you will get confused on the tests. Attend the study sessions and read ahead. Loved her class and she is funny too!
Easy class overall. Do your hours and occasional assignments (that are easy)/check-ins, and you're bound to pass.
A solid psych choice. I've had dozens of psych teachers and she is a good mid to upper range in terms of teaching skills. Classes aren't very interesting although she does try. Lots of different methods of teaching involved and extra credit opportunities.
I love Professor Stohs, but don't think this class is a walk in the park. Her tests are tough. However, she is an AMAZING teacher. Her lectures are very clear, no textbook is required, she offers extra credit, and she genuinely cares.
Her class is super easy compared to other upper divisions! There aren't a lot of assignments in this class so you have to make sure you do well! Provides lots of extra credit. Exams are straight off of the slides. Make sure to go to class or you will miss out on points. RECOMMENDED, the class is beyond useful even if you aren't a Psychology major.
I loved this class and Stohs made it so easy to understand. She is incredibly knowledgeable in her field. Also very stylish. Pay attention and study the material and it's a really interesting, fun class to take for an easy A. Def take if you need fashion inspiration.
Professor Stohs is an amazing Professor. She is so passionate about the subject and gives you guidance for the tests. Her review sessions before class are helpful and she is easy to access via email or in person. I loved her so much Im taking her again for psych 495. I highly recommend if you are looking for a professor who cares and helps you.
Dr. Stohs' teaching abilities are phenomenal-- she provides video lectures and multiple exercises to further exemplify the materials, as it helps students understand a myriad of mental disorders; she informs students about treatments to alleviate each mental disorder. She is enthusiastic, intelligent, and kind hearted. I highly recommend Dr. Stohs.
Ok so I took her class Spring 2018 & Im going back to write this because her class was amazing. I still have her material and textbook and refer back to it a looot. I learned so much in this class and wish she taught more classes. 10/10.
Super easy online internship class. 4 one page journals. one 4 page term paper at the end. Throughout the semester there were a few assignments here and there which are very easy. Completely recommend if you want to do an online version of the internship course, it was a breeze.
a lot of material is presented in this class so make sure you pay attention and review material when studying. Three exams (lowest score gets dropped) and one comprehensive exam. All written assignments are crucial to your grades so make sure you're in class when theyre assigned for you to turn in. Two small papers.
Amazing professor, I definitely loved the ease of this class. The hard part is staying at your site lol besides that the professor is easily reachable and responds super fast and was very nice.
Professor Stohs is one of the best professors in the psych department. She makes the material easy to learn. Her textbook is not needed since she requires the book packet with notes from all the chapters of the book with exercises. She genuinely cares about her students and gives study reviews and tips for the test.
She's really sweet. Gives extra credit. Her TAs provide study guides for the exams - if you study those, you'll ace the class. She drops the lowest midterm score. She doesn't take attendance, but has in-class activities/assignments that are graded (easy). Her lectures are online. Easy A if you just take the time to study!
Dr. Stohs's class was a challenge throughout the semester. Because her classroom size is large, it felt hard to communicate with her through my struggles. She's a sweet person of course and her exams are doable. I recommend her to those who are good self-studying or understanding different symptoms. Also, she gives pop-ups in-class assignments.
Stohs was super sweet & always understanding. I was always able to reach her super quickly no matter what time of the day. Sometimes graded a bit harshly on assignments but overall made sense why, she just needs to be more clear as to what she expects. Tests were okay just READ & study. Requires u to buy set of notes which make the class WAY EASIER
As long as you read & watch the lectures youll be set for the tests. The workload is light & she gives homework about every 2weeks. She can be a tough grader though so ensure youre answering questions with great detail. She also makes u buy guided notes which was annoying but then I realized theyre INSANELY helpful & break down the book
The class isn't difficult but there is a lot you'll need to read and remember. She gives you everything you'll need for the exams and it's a super interesting class! There are only a few assignments but you'll need to buy her Course Packet for sure. The textbook was interesting as well and helped a lot to clear up her lecture slides.
Great recorded lectures that made it easy to fit into my schedule. Correlating assignments kept me up to date with the lessons which were short and not difficult. I loved not having to worry about zoom or unnecessary busywork. Extremely helpful study guides. TAs were helpful with review sessions. Would definitely recommend!!!!
Overall, the class was manageable and organized considering COVID situation. I feel that she worded some questions on her tests extremely tricky. Like there were definitely 2 corrects answers, which made you hesitate a lot. She graded the first assignment and then had her TA's do the rest, and they graded strictly. Requires good studying
Good professor but so much reading and content to memorize! If I had invested more time I def. would have gotten a better grade. 5 easy HW assignments, 1 paper, 3 exams, and a final. The tests are the hardest part of the course and you def. have to study a bit more for them. Also, have to purchase a course pack but it comes in handy for tests later
I would recommend Professor Stohs! This class taught me a lot. It has 6 assignments, 3 tests, and final. The assignments need to be in detail but they are very easy! You don't need the textbook, but you DO need the course packet. For the tests, study the powerpoints!
Finally getting around writing this. Took her last term and shes so lazy. Very unclear and there was a time we had a group assignment. I got low grade for the same work. So unprofessional and felt personal so beware. She probably wrote all her own reviews cus I would definitely not take her again.
Had Dr. Stohs as an internship instructor. She really cared about her students and their success in their internships. Gets back to emails almost immediately. Incredibly helpful and gives very good feedback. I recommend this course with her!
I don't know how she's rated so high. Her instructions on assignments are vague but when it comes to grading, she expects you to follow her criteria that weren't instructed. When you bring up an issue, she's very defensive and will make you feel stupid. Has TAs that will grade assignments differently. Claims to be a fair grader but not.
grading: few assignments / 3 exams / 1 timed cumulative final she was okaaaay, she makes you buy her work book that I don't think was necessary but also needed for the assignments. don't buy the textbook though!
Worst class I ever took no zoom office hours to ask questions CAs grade everything and based on who your CA is, thats how hard your assignments will be graded , thus the grading is unfair got a lower score than someone who turned in his assignment LATE , mine was on time will get penalized for things that werent even stated in directions
Hardest college class I've ever taken. While the workload is low, the key is to rely on the course packet and actively take notes throughout her lectures. DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK! She personally felt distant as a professor, but TA's were great at prepping us for exams and answering ?'s. This class is doable with good time management.
Lectures are pre recorded and there's no zoom meetings. The TA's usually grade your work and they penalize you for things that were never mentioned in the instructions. The instructions are extremely vague so its hard to get it right. There's one cumulative final, and 3 normal exams (one of which gets dropped, but not the final).
She's super defensive whenever you bring something up to her and does not take criticism well at all. She thinks she's an amazing professor simply because she's been teaching for a long time, she said so herself. Her instructions are super vague and you're graded on things that were never mentioned in the instructions.
ASSIGNMENTS ARE NOT EVEN GRADED BY HER! THEYRE ALL GRADED BY HER COURSE ASSISTANTS SO GRADING SCALE IS NOT FAIR AT ALL. actually the worst prof ever- does NOT respond to emails in timely manner and literally I had the worst course assistant ever that takes off points for the stupidest things while my friends had CA's who grade fair.
wish I could give her a zero. she doesnt even have office hours you can attend to ask questions. I tried and her response was "email will be fine". um isnt it your job as a prof to hold office hours so your students can ask questions? not all questions can be answered in a simple email. so disappointed after hearing such good things on here.
All I'm gonna say is this was presented as a fully asynchronous class, but had scheduled exam times on set days... she gave some students a hard time about changing. Some had to call out of work or skip other scheduled classes. Shes also a tough grader and has TA's do most of the grading but they grade differently, unclear instructions...
AVOID AT ALL COST! I enrolled in her class because of her high rating on here, but she's the absolute worst. Asynchronous course yet there were scheduled exams, like what? Not accommodating at all, especially for someone who teaches abnormal psych. Has multiple TAs grading our work without a clear rubric. Each assignment was a hit or miss
Her tests were strictly scheduled and her assignment due dates were random with no order or warning. TA's do most grading, but when she does get to grading she is really strict. She's inconsiderate of personal lives claiming school should be a priority despite outside issues. Also, HER textbook is required and pricy. Do not recommend AT all.
This course was pretty straightforward. 4 Exams, (the lowest grade is dropped & final is cumulative) 6 written assignments. I pretty much did one to two pages (double spaced) per assignment and got full credit, not hard at all. 1 extra credit opportunity. CP (course packet) is NEEDED. If you put the work in you'll do great.
pretty much TA'S do all the grading
Few assignments given over the course of the semester. Four exams total, last one is cumulative. Lectures were alright and helped my understanding on certain topics.
This class was pretty straightforward. She has a few ways to earn extra credit. The test are more applied than just definitions so make sure you take good notes and review them. Stay on top of dates and it won't be a hard class at all, just a lot of information is covered.
