Joanne is great! In class lectures were easy to follow. She invited some very interesting and relevant speakers to class that were actually informative (not time-wasters). Invited class discussion nearly all of the time. Definitely take her for the CJ capstone course if at all possible. I loved her!

Metzger is the best professor I've had. The lectures are very clear and she gives out a great study guide before every test. Attendance is mandatory, but she understands that sometimes life gets in the way and takes class participation into account. Best of all, she's supportive in both your academic and personal life. She is the best criminal justice professor at temple. She is so willing to help you, not only in class, but outside of class as well. She is there for advice about law/grad school. I really think teaching was what she was supposed to do in life. She was a lawyer for a long time, but switched to teaching. I took three classes with her.

She is the best writing teacher. She explains how to research and do APA-- she is amazing. I love her. She always stays as late as you need her after class (night class too). She never rushes you and wants to make certain you are clear on the info!! A must take at Temple !!

Notes & handouts easy to take/understand. 3 tests including final and 2/3 in class writing assignments, not hard at all and gives very thorough review sheets! Really likes to teach and is there for you, willing to help everyone and nicest person ever! One of the best CJ professors!

BEST TEACHER FOR PLANNED CHANGE!! Had 2 papers (10pg), 2 in-class writing assignments, 1 test and take home final. Teaches this class really well, helps you understand CJ policy program/planning, and clearly explains what she wants on papers. Edits drafts, and explains APA well! Really goes out of her way to make sure you understand & will succeed!

AWESOME professor! She's the biggest sweetheart & is so easy-going. Class is fun & very enjoyable. Only had 2 papers & 2 tests for Planned Change - all of which were easy. If you fail this course it's your own fault - she gives you everything you need on a silver platter. Take her if you can get her, you won't regret it!! :)

Best Criminal Law Professor at Temple. She is amazing, smart and very organized. She makes challenging concepts very understanding and practical. I love her, she is one of my best teachers at temple. I try to take any class she is teaching. But for this class it is two big papers little easy quizzes. If you pay attention take notes and engage in class you can get an A. She is willing to help with papers as long as you show you want the help. I would highly recommend her.

I took this class in the summer, It was a very long class but she tries to make every minute of it not boring. She helps you with whatever you do not understand. On test day if the question is confusing she will clarify it for you to understand it better. I personally love this professor and tries to attend and take every class she offers.

Amazing Professor! Very helpful. Lots of work but it's a writing intensive course so it's expected but she helps with every step and is always available threw email, before and after class and phone. If you willing to learn and don't mind some work take her she is amazing!

2696 by nature is a relatively tough class because it is writing intensive, but Metzger knows that and helps you every step along the way. Show up to her office hours and she'll offer you an immense amount of help with your assignments.

Joanne is a sweet heart wants you to pass. /so she try's to help you out as much as possible. I thought she was going be a hard grader because I'm a terrible writer but she was very fair in grading. Love her I will take her again because she truly cares about you and wants you to do good.

Prof Metzger is the best (most organized) and smart Prof at Temple. I had her for criminal law. She never missed class, was always there on time and most importantly she used hypotheticals to teach the law. Her teaching style is unique-I learned so much. She knows every students name by the second week of class. I want to go to law school now

Metzger is a very intriguing professor, especially if you are taking a intro to cJ course. She genuinely wants you to succeed and helps you anyway she can inside and outside the classroom , regarding what your major is.

Professor Metzger is the best. Criminal law is lecture everyday with no activities other than tests to break that up. However, she uses funny scenarios to explain concepts and is a lot of fun in class, always making jokes. She is also super sweet and more than willing to help you. There are 2 tests, a final, and a court observation, no projects.

Joanne is the best CJ professor ever! She really makes you interested in the major and just the topic overall. She uses real life examples and is mom so she makes things relatable. She knows life gets busy and is super flexible. A couple writing assignments you do in class, so easy and tests are common knowledge. TAKE HER IF YOU CAN! SHES GREAT!

Joanne is literally one of the sweetest professors ever and shows that she really cares. Class material isn't hard but she makes it known that she is willing to help and will do anything so that students don't fail. I am not even a CJ major and she makes me want to pursue more crim classes.

Metzger is one the best Professors in her departmen, as a CJ major I enjoyed her class tremendously. IF YOU CAN TAKE HER, DO SO! The class is nothing but lectures and 3 Exams to break it up, but she makes the class enjoyable by using funny scenarios to help students understand the material.

Intro to CJ was the easiest class I had since middle school. Metzger is very kind and generous with her expectations. Goes out of her way to help each student succeed. She's a former defense attorney, though, so watch for that bias in her lectures. Book is completely unnecessary. Overall, an easy A, but you can choose to learn a lot from her, too.

Professor Metzger is seriously the best professor I have taken. Her class Intro to Criminal Law was super easy especially if you are a criminal justice major because it's interesting and makes you more understanding to our criminal justice system. She definitely wants her students to pass, she gives study guides, and I learned a lot.

Metzger is a great woman who loves the subject she is teaching. It is a lecture class but she makes things interesting, especially if you are into criminal justice. She is very thoughtful and understanding of the college life and she doesn't like to overwhelm her students. She will say to buy the textbook. DONT. You never use it.

Prof. Metzger is as good as it gets. She gives you absolutely everything you need to pass her exams; as long as you read the study guide, you're gonna pass. She's extremely informative and knowledgable, but sweet and understanding. Her tests are straightforward and her lectures are organized and to-the-point. She makes you fall in love with CJ!

The class is very easy, all the test are straightforward. She's really nice person and funny. A textbook was required but not necessary her PowerPoints and exam study sheet are more then enough.

Metzger is truly the sweetest woman ever, having her as a professor has been great. Also, i bought the book and didnt touch it once so dont buy the book!

I have Prof Metzger this semester for Crim Law and Intro to CJ. She is by far the best professor I have had while in college. She is smart, funny, super organized and makes the lectures fly !!! She uses the book but also gives great lectures to summarize all of the material. I changed my major because I had her last Spring. A must !!!!

Metzger is honestly one of my favorite professors on this campus. If you have the opportunity to take any of her courses I would. She's a fantastic professor and really helps you to understand the information. If she likes your class and she usually likes most of her classes before the exam she gives you all a in depth review ofeverything discussed

Nice lady, class is very straightforward for Criminal Law. The workload isn't too bad, she's very caring, and keeps students engaged. Her powerpoints are great and she gives good thorough reviews for tests, so just study, shows and pay attention in class and U should be fine

Literally the best professor Temple has. Sweetest woman and makes class so fun to go to which says a lot. Her classes fill up so quickly so definitely take her if you have the chance!!! Powerpoints are exactly whats on the tests and she offers some extra credit opportunities! So easy to talk to and is very clear what she expects. Everyone take her!

She was a great teacher who was really funny and used in the news topics to make class interesting. I will say you are only graded on a couple things, 2 tests and a final along with maybe a field report but the tests were overall pretty easy.

A genuine, wholesome person. She's my favorite professor of all time and her classes are easy. I took her for intro to CJ and intro to juvenile justice and passed both easily. Her tests are exactly like the study guides she gives. Her lectures are always interesting too.

Metzger's a great professor & I enjoyed her zoom lectures a lot. Beware there are 5 two page hw assignments you have to do, 3 of them have to be scholarly. They're a lot of work & the 5 assignments are only 10% of your grade but you can pretty much submit anything and get the points. The exams are exactly whats on the study guide + two short essays

Professor Metzger does a fantastic job getting the class engaged in learning. She makes the topics we learn about very interesting. She is super understanding of students and their business with the courses and toys to limit homework amount. Tests are extremely straight forward and everything is covered in class and on study guide.

Joanne is an amazing teacher. There are a few papers, but she's an easy grader and is very broad with the topics so there is a lot of room for you to decide what to talk about. Online classes can be hard to get an A in, but this one is very easy as long as you do the work, and it's not a big work load. 10/10 class!!

The class was online with 1 meeting per week. There were a few short papers and discussion boards throughout the semester. Her lectures are very good and she is very available and understanding of her students.

I was working on a Sunday night report and I emailed her a question and she asked to call me on a Sunday evening and help me on her own time when she was with her family to finish the report. I could not imagine another prof with her kindness and dedication for her students !!!!!! You have to take her Amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Metzger is amazing - her online crim law course made me change my major and want to attend law school. She is very organized. I easily navigated the modules. She was available weekly for office hours and provided time for us to meet her by zoom or in person (despite the course being virtual). She was always accessible !!! Love her

Professor Metzger is very caring and wants to help her students. She tends to get ramble a little about certain subjects but sometimes that's what makes it fun. I personally love CJ so I find all the topics interesting. Literally only 2 HWs and 2 exams (plus final) so the course is very easy. I liked her a lot and I'm taking her next semester too!

Metzger truly cares for her students- all you need to do is reach out and she'll go above and beyond to help you. She pushes clubs and extracurricular opportunities. She's outgoing so lecturing seems to come naturally to her. She gave out two assignments and three exams, but is lenient with time and grading. Metzger is the best! Please take her!
