Easy class. Read the book and go to class. Lets you know what to focus on. Very Helpful. Not difficult. Very few assignments. Very nice lady. Very friendly. Gave us candy on Fridays
had her as part of a learning community and she hated our class. does not know how to teach or be in charge of a class. not helpful, UNFAIR grading, and she did not prepare for us to take the midterm and finals even though she helped make the questions.
Patronizingly easy. Insulting to intelligence.

Made a easy class entertaining. Great speaker and used a lot of examples. Tells you exactly what she will grade you on an sticks to it.
Boring. Tiring. Obnoxious, almost condescending personality. All in all, a frustrating, awful teacher.
She's good, but her grading system is unclear.
Really nice lady. If you do the reading and go over your assignment with her before turning it in, she'll appreciate the effort. If you have a question about the grading, just ask. Tests are not that hard, class is interesting.
easy class, didn't like her at all however. nice but favors some people when she grades the written assignments she'll take points off for no reason. exams were simple, easy A
Just read the book and go to class an you'll be fine. She loved our class... almost cried when she said good-bye. She can be tough when it comes to the grading though. Sometimes she pulls grades out of no where. But overall, easy to follow and extremely friendly.
utilized the webct environment as best one could. class was very easy to keep up with. interesting subject. would definately take this prof again.

She is one of my favorite COM professors at this university. She really has an interst in the students and goes out of her way to make assignments fun and interesting. Her COM210 class is great, especially if you are interested in advertising. I found h
Very clear and thorough. I agree that she pulls grades out of nowhere sometimes, but if you just do a good job and make improvement during the semester, you will do fine.
grades totally unfair, dont take it with this prof if you can get another one.
She plays favorites with students. So if you have testicles, good luck getting a good grade. Grading system is completely unfair. Do not take this teacher. She might seem all nice at first, but she's completely unfair with grading and is a female dog
Great teacher. You have to do the work to do well, but if you put effort in you will get a good grade. She is a fair grader. Do the work and she will give you a good grade.
Her grading is very unfair. Basically your whole grade depends on if she likes your or not, thats all it really comes down to
love love love :)
I liked her- she was a great professor and was really nice and helpful. The quizzes and exams were easy multiple choice- She is a fair grader.
She is very nice and fair. Tough, but also willing to compromise and accomodate. Online classes with her are nicely organized. Highly recommended.
One of my favorite professors at URI...this is the second class I've had with her and it's on WebCT, she's very organized and makes things interesting. I've learned a lot in the 2 classes I've had with her. Highly recommend!

Sh has an easy class that makes you read the book. The book is easy and an interesting read but she is a hard grader. She also tends to not show up to class and sends her husband to administer tests or grade assignments so that you can't ask questions. Very nice is always willing to help but she's a hard grader and is vague on assignments.
Tough grader and unfair. Seems like her goal is to make every little thing as difficult as possible. Plays favorites, is totally condescending and full of herself
I have had plenty of bad teachers in my day but this one takes the cake. If she loves you your set but if she doesn't forget about it. I learned more in one class that her husband taught then I did from her all year. I can't wait for this class to be over. Do not take her. Horrible teacher just horrible
It's not a hard class but she makes it awful. The material is interesting, but she's annoying to listen to and definietly plays favorites. If she likes you, you'll get A's, but if she doesn't you're screwed. Make sure she knows your name too.
LOVED this class. Professor Munforf is a great and made me want to be a COM major. Her quizzes/exams are easy if you take the pre & post tests online on WebCT.
She is very helpful and understanding. The class was interesting, especially for such a processed subject such as COM 100. If you actually do the work, unlike many of my fellow COM students, then you will do well.
She is a very nice professor. She's interesting and grades fairly.
She's such a sweetheart. This was my favorite class last semester. We did fun activities and even watched a movie. There is a lot of presentations, but it wasn't that bad. Do the practice quizzes on WebCT...the test Q's come from there!
totally plays favorites. if you dont have brown stuff on your nose you wont get anything higher than a b
very condescending and unsympathetic and no personality
She can be boring and seems to have favorite students. I don't think she grades all that fairly, as I did all the work but didn't receive a great grade.Com 100 is required and supposed to be a class where participation, hard work, and showing interest is rewarded with an A, she doesn't get that. My friends took other professors and had no problem
Mudorf , definetly plays favorites , takes the class way to seriously. we had two major assignments due at once and she expected us to be able to balance them both. when you ask for help you will receive attitude, and a condescending tone .
Terrible. Loves her favorites, hates you if your not. Rude, extremely ridiculous class and material is useless. WORST PROFESSOR EVER. STAY AWAY.
I completely disagree with lower comments. Of course she takes the class seriously, this is her job. It is a very important part of many careers. She does play favorites, but she is a great professor and she is very understanding. Do your work and follow her guidelines, and you will recieve a great grade.
She is unsympathetic. She is not nice and picks favorites. She does not treat everyone the same way. You can't do that as a teacher. She is terrible.
I had her for 2 classes. She's awesome. She tries to help you, and ensure that everything is clear. If you are respectful, and don't text during class or treat it like it is a joke, she will treat you with respect. People are saying she picks favorites and that's not true. No teacher likes disrespectful students!
Not a very interesting class. However, she does do her best to incorporate fun. Overall a fair teacher, easily approachable and kind.
She is a great teacher. There were 2 speeches, and 2 tests. It's important to read your books though, because almost all of her material is about them. I definitely recommend her.
Class is pretty easy, all the exams are multiple choice and there's just two speeches and a paper to do.
Professor Mundorf is a fantastic teacher. She is passionate about the material, care about her students on a personal level, and respects them. She takes her subject seriously, so you will not fair well if you slack off or treat it like a joke. She is very clear about what she wants, and is very understanding when students need help or extensions.
This was a great class to take online because Professor Mundorf is so very organized in structuring the course. I enjoyed the material and learned quite a bit in an area which was new to me. No complaints!
Joanne is a great, dedicated, organized professor. She's a passionate speaker, and I enjoyed our group presentations very much. Make sure to get on her good side in the beginning, she'll like you even more- No complaints!
Mrs. Mundorf is not the professor for you if you actually want to take a class where you enjoy your professor. She is blatantly rude to students and has absolutely no respect for you. You can tell she's definitely full of herself and thinks she is a lot better than she actually is. In my opinion she should not be allowed to teach.
The class is mostly online and you meet once a week. The online assignments are key to passing this class. Even though attendance isn't necessary I highly recommend it. This has been my favorite COM class at URI and I am a senior. The professor makes the subject matter enjoyable and teaches it perfectly. I wanted to attend this class.
Great Professor for COM100. She is very organized and tells you exactly what you need to do to get an A. Exams are easy and compared to what I've heard about other COM100 this one was a lot better. She makes some classes just online meetings or where there is no class that day and all you have to do is submit an assignment.
I have taken two of her classes, she is amazingly organized, an active member of providing you feedback, while preparing you for success and not failure. I have learned so much from her classes because of the way she lays out the assignments for you to learn. Great professor.
Great teacher, but doesn't understand how to communicate via email.
Whatever you do, do NOT take an online class with her. She has no respect for her students and communicating with her will be a headache. Expect minimal to no input on returned assignments. She will also mark your grade down points for submitting assignments "too close" to their due date, or not going "high enough" past minimum rubric requirements.
taking her class was the biggest mistake of my college career. She does not have an empathetic bone in her body. For a COMMUNICATIONS professor she should have much better communication skills, she is very unorganized and does not work with her students very well. She is very rude and has no respect for the people beneath her (Students)
Honestly, Ive liked the majority of professors I had over the years and I hate speaking badly of them but Prof Mundorf is probably one of the worst teachers Ive ever had. No respect for students, no empathy at all and just not a nice person at all. It is clear she puts herself on a pedestal and has no respect for anyone else except herself.
I never even met this teacher and I didnt like her. I did fine in the class but communicating with her was difficult and I never received any input on any of my assignments which was a headache in itself. There are much better communications professors at URI and you would be better off taking a class with them than her. 0/10 would not recommend.
I feel as though she made COM 100, which is supposed to be an easy class, much harder than it should be.
She is want things a certain way so beware of that. If you do not know something DIRECTLY ask her or you can get confused by her.
Professor Mundorf is not the best professor I've ever had but is definitely not even close to the worst either. She is understanding and cares about her students but tends to like things done her way and only her way. The workload is fair and she does not grade harshly.
She really isn't as bad as everyone says. Took COM 361 online with her and she was very helpful and understanding. Just likes things done her way, but if you read the syllabus and rubrics and communicate with her you'll be fine.
The course load is not like any other 300 level course. You better have time two read from TWO different books and write top of the line essays each week . Cannot provide support to student reaching out for help with only a few weeks in the semester.
Worst teacher I have EVER had. SO rude. I honestly can't believe URI hired such a rude person. She loves to act like she knows everything and takes out her life problems on 19 years olds in college.
Extremely rude and DOESNT care about her students. I cant believe she speaks to students the way she does. she thinks shes better than everyone. Shes not empathetic and overall probably miserable. DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING WITH HER
I am terrible at public speaking but I really liked the format of the class since it made it totally doable. I slacked off for one of the speeches and got a C+ but she offered extra credit and had really good feedback. Super fair grader, do your work and just follow the rubric/outlines and you'll do great.
This was a very interesting and important class. I am not sure why she has a low rating since as long as you do a sufficient amount of work you will definitely get a good grade. Her grading criteria is very clear and as long as you follow the rubrics it is impossible to do poorly. You just need to be willing write the best you can and work hard.
do urself a favor and dont take her class
I really, really enjoyed this class and recommend it to almost everyone in need of a COM or SUS class. Prof. Mundorf is caring and teaches extremely interesting and important information about current sustainability issues. She doesn't grade too hard either. Just follow the directions. I think this class is definitely worth taking if you can!!!!
Professor Mundorf doesn't give much positive reinforcement at all, and grades students mostly on where they fall short. She's not afraid to call people out in front of the class, so make sure you follow all her directions to a tea! She was also very particular about masks, even to the point of asking someone to put on a mask during a zoom lecture.
Prof Mundorf doesn't give any good feedback, and the feedback she does give is very negative. She is extremely passive-aggressive, and if you don't do things her way, you fail. I do not recommend her class because she will just make you feel bad about yourself.
She likes things done in a particular way, so if you are not good at following rules, I would not recommend her. There are definitely nicer teaches to take for COM202. Not a lot of work at all and she grades super nicely and the class itself is easy, but if you do not like being told what to do, you and her will not get along.
She can be very intimidating and rude at times, especially for someone who teaches freshmen and sophomores. She will call you out in the middle of class, even interrupt your speech; she even told someone they were going to fail the speech as they presented. No one takes her seriously because of her holier-than-thou attitude.
Professor Mundorf does not respect you. 2 Weeks in, she showed up twice, and booked a "guest speaker" to basically teach the class for her as she assumes she's above having to attend; She doesn't respect her coworkers time, and she CERTAINLY does not respect her student's time. I'm typing this very message as her husband teaches the class.
Professor Mundorf has to be one of the worst professors I have ever had. Her assignments are very unclear and unorganized. Her husband practically teaches the class for her. Had many "group presentations" and all the instructions are very unclear and confusing. Do not recommend taking her classes.
Quizzes are unbelievably difficult, and you are not given nearly enough time. On top of that, you cannot revisit a question once you answer it, and you don't have enough time to check your work. The professor is terrible at communicating, and most of the quiz question answers do not even come from the week's material. Please don't take this class.
Absolutely insane. Overworks students, gives no help or guidance whatsoever
Prof Mundorf is one of the most difficult professors I have ever had. She give no instructions and nothing is ever up to her standard even when it meets the requirements. Never gives guidance and is just over all awful
If you don't follow her instructions, you are going to have a bad time. She makes half the days asynchronous so that she doesn't have to bother with coming to class. When she does come to class, she is unhelpful and rude. She leaves negative feedback on work, but doesn't give us the rubric so we know what we did wrong. Avoid this teacher
She was pretty vague and harsh over email. I took her in a semester with some pretty great teachers so she sat towards the bottom for me. But just average, no exam, not a ton of work. She did give a peer an extremely unfair grade and no feedback for why and then ignored her when she asked follow-up questions. But my experience was just meh.
A real C U Next Tuesday
Do not take this class. Professor Mundorf should not be teaching an online class. She is very rude through email and does not try to engage with you beyond posting materials for you to read on your own. The material she assigns is not interesting and the majority of assignments are discussion posts, which she grades like they are thesis papers.
I hate leaving bad reviews unless absolutely necessary. I don't check rate my professor enough, but this course is probably a good reason. The online setup is disorganized, and assignment instructions aren't very clear. She doesn't give solely negative feedback, but it's frustrating to get subpar grade when I can't fully understand the assignments.
I just haven't liked her class from the start. She makes it 10 times harder than other COM100 classes. Half the class gets wasted when she talks. She gives out all of these assignments and doesn't tell us to do it. I have the blended class so it sucks. Overall, she's not a horrible teacher, but she isn't very good. Do not recommend having her ever.
She is passionate about her field but lacks basic communication and empathy for her students. Instructions are unclear(website is messy; not tech savvy), emails are condescending, and she blames students for her disorganization. For a COM professor, she struggles to communicate and create a supportive learning environment.
This professor is too harsh with her grading considering that this is a level 100 class. We meet once a week and her lectures always veer off into irrelevant anecdotes, making it difficult to actually learn anything. There's not that much homework either, so you don't learn anything but you get condemned for making a simple mistakes.
Joanne is one of my least favorite professors at URI. She is so condescending and unorganized. For a 100 level class, she acted as if it was a capstone with the way she talked to us. It's her way or the highway and her way just makes no sense most of the time. I would literally rather lose credits than take another class with her.
She is a tough grader and doesn't have good communication with her students. She seems like a sweet person, but for the class being a 100-level, it's not worth it. You meet once a week, and the lectures are not engaging. Attendance is mandatory and takes a toll on your grade. Would not be thrilled to take this class again.
Professor Mundorf is not a terrible professor. I took COM 100 this semester and you can tell she does not care about the success of her students. She writes nasty emails and talks down to you like your one of her friends not a professor. I am not one to complain about teachers and professors however Professor Mundorf should be humbled.
Literally the most condescending worst professor ever. Like lmk why she emails so rudely that it actually ruins my mood. horrible horrible rude mean professor. I WISH I could give her a worse rating than a 1. I have never met a professor who is so rude to her students
