VERY GOOD teacher, and explained the material well but didn't give enough information about what to expect on the midterms
Really good prof. Midterms and exams are fair. This course is the less interesting anatomy course out of the 3, lots of bones and muscles to memorize.
Her lectures are really dry, and she can be a little condescending at times, too. Also, Dr. Savory outright refuses to elaborate on the format of her midterms...she even went so far as to turn a simple question (What's the midterm format) into a class debate. For the most part, she knows her stuff, though...but not as well as Dr. Carnegie!
Don't pay attention to the negative comment below. She is very fair and expects you to know your stuff, as you should. Don't take it personally. If you study, there's no reason you can't get an A...seriously. She's very knowledgable and a great teacher. Best ANP teacher I've had so far out of 4 (had 2 in 1105 and 2 in 1106).
Her lectures are VERY clear and she makes the topics very interesting. She's not one of those profs that just reads off power point slides. Has to be one of the best anatomy profs. Highly recommended
She really knows her stuff .... As long as it''s part of the textbook. She was often asked more thought provoking questions and didnt know the answer. She was helpful whenever I emailed her. But I also found her condescending at times
Professor Savory is an amazing. She really masters anatomy and her lectures are very informative and stimulating. The class and her expectations challenge me to study and get the most of the subject. She is also an inspiration and expects students to understand the materials. I would definitely recommend her
She was a great professor and an engaging lecturer. She was always quite helpful and replied to emails quickly, and she's very knowledgeable on the subject. However, as some people have mentioned, she's vague when it comes to midterms and what to expect (basically, just have a good grasp on the concepts). I would highly recommend her.
The class is impossible, do not take if not mandatory. Start studying a full month before every midterm. Insane amounts of information to memorize .
Great anatomy professor! She is really knowledgeable on the subject matter and makes the material interesting. The exams are a little harder than Carnegie's (more short answer, matching, tables, etc.) and she doesn't give explicit hints on what to study, but this makes sure you have an understanding of all the material.
Very good professor. Gives clear instructions for studying and lets you know what to focus on for midterms. Be prepared to memorize a lot of muscles and bones. Heavy anatomy, but really interesting! Put in the time and an A+ is very do-able.
Very clear on what will be on the midterms. Study hard and memorize everything she tells you to memorize. Great prof, explains things well and knows her stuff!
Very clear on what will be on the midterms. Study hard and memorize everything she tells you to memorize. Great prof, explains things well and knows her stuff! Definitely keep up with your notes, use Mastering A&P, and Visible Body helps.
Study extremely hard. There was so much on each midterm it was hard to even study it. Gave 140 blood vessels to study 4 days before exam. Take someone else if you can.
Great prof! Her and Staines both taught this course (much preferred Savory). Anatomy is a hard course with lots of memorization. Savory teaches very clearly. There is an assignment almost every week (pretty easy). The textbook is very useful to study with. Anything on the slides are fair game for the midterms. Good luck and don't cry.
Midterms are fairly hard, she is kinda cold and gets aggravated if you ask questions after class. Does not respond to emails very fast
Midterms are fairly hard, she is kinda cold and gets aggravated if you ask questions after class. Does not respond to emails very fast. her voice is boring and she speaks fast.
Don't approach her after class because she will be so rude and stand-offish to you. If you ask her any questions regarding midterms she'll tell you to refer to the course outline(& not bother to answer your Qs) She taught all the vessels 3 classes before the final and expected us to memorize everything. Takes days to hear back from her via email.
SO FAST! My goodness she talks so quickly and gets so annoyed when questions are asked during the lecture. You MUST record her lectures, she talks so fast! She doesn't tell you at all what to know for the midterm/final, and they all were pretty hard. She expects you to memorize all the blood vessels within a few days. AVOID HER, SHES SO UNCLEAR!!!
She does talk fast and it can be hard to keep up. She wasn't very clear on what to expect for the midterms and exam.
Goes through material very quickly and you are expected to memorize a truly insane amount of information. Physiology was terrible.
Really good prof, just not my absolute fave for anatomy. Definitely knows her stuff and teaches well, I've just experienced even betted. Also can ere on the side of condescending.
In the beginning of the semester I really enjoyed her teaching. Very different from Carnegie so it was a bit refreshing however, when asked about questions on the midterms that were very vague and incorrect, she became defensive and did not take responsibility. She's not an above average teacher, probs wouldn't choose again only if I had to.
Switch to Carnegie if you have the chance. Can study all you want but her m/c are a mind game. Shes a good lecturer but midterms are not fair at all with so much content to be covered. Seriously regret taking her.
Dr. Savory is a decent lecturer and is good at explaining concepts in class. Her exams are HARD. She asks questions that require you to memorize the textbook if you were to know the answers. I had Carnegie for 1106 and her exams are much clearer and ask you about the larger concepts. My mark went from a B+ in 1105 to a A in 1106. (13% difference)
This class is heavy. You need to go to class, keep up on notes, read the textbook and pay attention to detail in lectures. Get ready to work.
You really need to do the readings with her. Lectures are jam packed and her midterm questions are very textbook based but still quite an easy pass
This course is very hard but this prof explains the material very well. She tries her best to answer questions. The slides are really important for the test. If she teaches the class with Dr Staines, then you should avoid it.
I dont know why i have heard bad things about this prof. She is outstanding and really talks to you like u r stupid, which is a good thing. She gives examples, unlike Carnegie who thinks you already know the material. Savory takes it slow and really makes you understand it. I look forward to this class because she is interesting&makes time go fast
Explains her lectures thoroughly, tough grader, sarcastic when answering a question a student asked, kind of scary but funny at the same time. Attendance is necessary if you want to pass the class with a decent grade
Dr. Savory is a pretty decent prof. Her lectures were mostly engaging and she often used modern examples to explain some concepts which proved to be very useful. Don't cram like I did and you'll be fine for the course. It's really all about how much time you put into it.
Really good prof. She takes the time to be thorough and explains content very well. Test are very precise so study hard. Her slides are very detailed and information is from the textbook. Her voice is engaging so that's a bonus. Be prepared for a lot of content. Focus and study hard and you'll do well. I enjoyed her sarcasm.
SHe talks so fast, it's unbelievable. Plus, she expects you to know every single detail for the midterms and the exam. I wouldn't take her if I had to.
She is a really good professor but she is fast. you need to record your lectures on your phone or any cheap recorders in order to get a high mark. do your Mastering assignments because they are free marks and all answers are found online. the other professors with her are kind of awful. but they answer all questions if you email them.
She makes her lectures very interesting and her slides are clear! The midterm and exam material is specific and difficult but she covers most during her lectures
Professor Savory was a good prof but I had a difficult time keeping up with her. She speaks really fast. Her exams are pretty hard. You have to study for them. I went to see her about my final exam because she claimed that spelling didn't count for the labeling questions but she didn't give me the mark because I spelled something wrong.
She at least tries to make anatomy interesting which, if you haven't had the other profs that teach with her, actually does make a difference. Anatomy's boring and hard, no amount of amazingness in a prof is going to make memorizing all the bones/muscles/blood vessels any easier.
She's nice as a person, she tries really hard to make the lecs engaging. I had her for 1105 and 1107, she's high energy and speaks very very fast. I stopped going to class a couple weeks in and still did well, you definitely dont have to go to class. Read the textbook and youre fine. She does make exams ridiculously specific which makes them hard
She is a great prof and definitely a very nice woman. However, her slides are sometimes a bit disorganized and content heavy which makes it hard to learn. She really tries to make sure everyone understands concepts. Her exams are pretty tough but if you read her slides and the textbook you will do well
She was a really great lecturer and actually made the content interesting. She cared about her students and wanted people to understand - she has no problem being interrupted if you have a question (put up your hand don't just shout it out). Her exams are fair and if you read the textbook and do all the mastering assignments you'll do well
Dr. Savory seems to really care about her students, she's interactive during lectures & appreciates when people ask her questions because she emphasizes how important it is to understand the material - not just memorize! The textbook is your best friend & every diagram on her slides is fair game for midterms/final exam. Goodluck!
She's very nice, helpful and interactive in lectures. But her exams and midterms are veryyy specific which makes them super hard. Just studying the slides won't cut it, so prepare to make the textbook your bestfriend.
Savoury definitely knows her stuff; however, she talks insanely fast and her midterms and exams are extremely difficult, I wouldn't say fair either. If you take her class be prepared to know every single detail of the lectures. I had her for more classes but I decided to save myself the stress and switch out of her class.
Her lectures are helpful because she really wants you to understand the content however she makes her midterms/exams so specific that you need to know every little detail on her slides (she only tests on the slides though which is nice).
The only good anatomy prof. Her slides actually make sense and are in order corresponding to the textbook. While she does have a lot of content it is worth it to be in her class since she actually explains everything in detail and makes things make sense. No other anatomy prof that I've had compares.
She is literally the worst professor ive ever had in my entire experience at uottawa. She talks too fast, shes rude, seems to display absolutely no sympathy or emotion towards students, and no matter how hard you study for her exams, you will never get anything higher than a B, unless you're an expert in anatomy. I'm a straight A student btw
She has very difficult exams and they are very short and focus on small details rather than more big-picture ideas. Her lectures are very heavy and she talks really fast. You can tell she doesn't really care whether we do well or not.
Very approachable and nice if you have questions. Exams are fair but very specific so don't procrastinate and know every detail on the slides. Make sure to know every diagram as anything is fair game. Read the textbook to enhance understanding (don't need to if you know EVERYTHING on the slides). Final was not difficult unless you procrastinated.
Midterms are pretty specific and there's a lot of material. Be sure to study everything on her slides because anything on their is fair game. She's fair and knows her stuff
Savory is one of the worst profs Ive had. Her tests are ridiculous. She focuses on the most insignificant details and completely ignores the big concepts. She provides zero guidance on whats important to know and her only advice for the exam was study a lot. Thanks Savory. Avoid her if you can.
Her notes have fill in the blanks that you can find in the textbook if you miss class. ANP is content heavy, so yes, you need to know everything in her notes (better than having to memorize the textbook.) She gives real life examples when applicable. Tests are fair game. She says what diagrams to not study in class. SO GO TO CLASS! Best ANP prof!
She is educationally the worst professor for this class. But, what disturbed me the most about her was the fact she doesn't care about you at all. I don't think she likes students or teaching. I've received the worst attitude I've ever received from a professor, she made me really upset throughout the semester. I recommend avoiding her.
I have no idea why she gets such bad reviews. I had all the other profs, Carnegie, Feiner, Fortier, etc, Savory is by far the most enthusiastic prof. You can really listen to her voice she is very very clear and detailed. She shows enthusiasm, laughs, jokes. She's actually very nice. I love listening to her online lectures.
Gives good lectures, does a pretty good job of explaining dense material. I found her exams kind of difficult but not too bad. Solid choice for an anatomy prof, I would take her course again.
teaching explains well. Exam difficulty, don't get me started. be prepared to know EVERYTHING in the textbook, the slides and whatever you can find on Mayoclinic and WebMD; she ask the most tiniest detail. Somethings in the exam i couldnt find in my notes/pptx. do the masterings and quizlets. Ask students for past exams to see her question style
Dr. Savory is a very good teacher in the sense that she explains the concepts very well for you to understand. However, her exams are tough. She quizzes you on super-detailed information. There is no need to read the textbook if you thoroughly study her slides and listen to/attend her lectures. Mastering ANP assignments and ANPquizlets are helpful
I've had many professors at uO for related classes such as all the ANP courses. Savory has the hardest midterms of them all. I must admit that she makes very good slides and she breaks down the information well. However, if you want to save your GPA, take someone else's class.
Exams are unbelievably difficult. Does not matter how much you study, her questions are way too detailed and make no sense what so ever. She shows no sympathy for her students and does not care about the outcomes of exams, if the class average was 30%, too bad so sad. Recommend avoiding her at all costs.
To put it simply, this professor has gone to extreme lengths to set the bar for the worst teaching job I have received thus far in my education. This class was online (COVID) and I must say I've never had to teach myself so much and have also never had a professor that assigned such unrelated questions and was so above her own students, doesnt care
I know nursing is hard and all, but this class was stupid hard. The learning objectives the give you are not tested, and they test you on very detail specific things. Professors do not give time to finish exams, as for the midterm and the final I still had many questions left. They also say its all in the slides but it's not.
Dont skip class. I understand Nursing is hard but she made this course 10 times harder because we were online in the middle of a pandemic. She did not leave room for error on the exams. And she also doesnt allow enough time to complete it. Our first midterm had 65 multiple choice and 5 short answer with only 80 minutes and our final was similar
Literally the worst prof I've ever had. Her lectures are jam-packed with info and I understand that the course is content heavy, but, at least focus on important concepts for the midterms. She focusses on the most insignificant details and expects you to memorize every single word. She says her lectures are short, then posts 2 hour long videos.
I had Dr. Savoury for 1105 and now 1106 and I think she is a great prof. She is so sweet and good at explaining. Her slides are super helpful and guide you to what you need to study for her exams. I took both courses as electives and it is veryy content heavy but easy to do well in! You wont do well online if you rely only on exams being open book
Good professor overall. She helps you understand the material even though most of it is memorization. The textbook is your best friend!! Use it.
The midterms/exams are ridiculous. For the tests, you're expected to know EVERY SINGLE DETAIL of a concept, because her questions will ask the most randomest things! And her lectures are all over the place! You'll never really know what's actually more important to study. Please avoid!!!! Especially if it's online learning!
Asks extremely specific questions on her exams. Make sure you take note of everything she says and read the textbook. Her lectures are clear and she explains very well but often picks out random details to test you on. Study hard.
Professor Savory is very responsive to emails. Lectures are well presented: they are concise (no rambling), and enjoyable to listen to. There is a lot of material which I believe is what causes students grief. I would suggest a combination of Youtube's Ninja Nerd, her lectures, explaining it to others, and finding questions online to prepare.
For a relatively difficult class Dr. Savory makes anatomy really fun! You don't need to put in tons of extra effort to do well in her class just go to the lectures, pay attention, and you should be fine. I quickly reviewed notes before examinations and that seemed to work fine. Looking forward to taking more of her classes!
I thought Savory was a good prof, but her tests are undoubtedly very difficult and immensely detailed. However, there are some easy marks to be had as 10% of the course consists of Midterm reflections and Open book quizzes which should be basically free marks. Overall she is a good but tough prof.
Knowledgeable prof, very passionate about teaching. Her exams are very application based... If you think you've studied a concept enough, think again... on exams she will have tricky application questions that are difficult to read and understand, so beware. She speaks very fast, so for me it helped reducing the playback speed on her videos.
Professor Savory is a very good teacher, her lectures are never boring but they are copy-paste of the textbook we're using. Her assignments/midterms/exams are all multiple choice with over 60 questions and they're all on Quizlet. I learned a lot from her, if you enjoyed biochem in grade 12, then you're gonna love her class. I recommend her for sure
She is not a bad prof although I find that she doesn't explain things well. She is average for ANP but you will need to work hard in her class. I didn't like the COVID group assignment. It was a complete waste of my time. Sometimes she teaches ANP1107 with other worse profs so beware.
Took the course as a nursing student at another university where the course was not offered in the summer. I did enjoy her lectures and her PowerPoint is well organized. She does want her students to not only memorize the pathophysiology but to understand it. The exam was open textbook but not easy, so do study like a close textbook.
I took ANP1106 online during the Summer 2022 term with Dr Savory and had a great experience. This was my first Uni course and i was initially concerned due to reading reviews on RMP of how tough she is, but she explained things so well, was kind, understanding and always available for help! I even switched into her section ANP1105 for fall term.
Very long lectures and very content heavy. A-lot of content wasn't the best explained in my opinion. Wasn't too responsive in emails for questions. Extremely hard midterms.
She is caring but so hard. Honestly the ANP profs at UO aren't that great, so from what I've heard shes not that bad. Her tests are hard and will ask for intense detail... even if it was glossed over in the lecture. She also speaks very fast but does not post any videos, so get ready to crack open that textbook! Exams are fully slide based.
Yes she's a hard, but also the best ANP prof at UO. She may seem mean, but only if you ask things that show you did not read or listen. Asking questions in class was scary, but if you approach during office hours, she is the nicest person EVER. She gave me such good advice and really helped me kill the final! So much respect for her.
good prof with clear and concise lectures. midterms and final are based mainly on the slides, but go over anything you're unsure about with the text.
Dr. Savory is wonderful at explaining even the most complicated concepts. Yes her course is hard, yes the exams are not easy (but fair if you understand everything on the slides), but her teaching gives every student the opportunity to do well (even very well) on the course if they're invested and make use of lecture time.
Although her lectures were good (very fast though), she made her exam questions unecessarily hard even if you studied everything in depth. Be prepared for: "Which of these are FALSE/TRUE" questions to the max. For CV and blood disorders, really put all your focus into the small details because they will come back. I will say her knowledge is great!
Dr. Savory is incredibly smart and a great lecturer. The content itself is challenging but she does a great job of explaining concepts. Beware of details and making connections for midterms and final. Pure memorization is very inefficient. Do your best to understand thoroughly. Midterm 1 was a reality check but you get used to exam expectations.
Dr. Savory is extremely knowledgeable and her explanations make much more sense if you do the readings. Her exams are very difficult, it goes beyond memorizing the slides and readings, but making connections of the content in terms of what's going on other places in the body. A lot of content but Dr. Savory is always open to questions.
Exams were very difficult and some of the questions were unclear. She expects you to understand and know the content like the back of your hand instead of just memorizing it. It's important to take notes during her lectures, just reading the textbook and slides are not enough.
She is a very intelligent prof..I opted to take her for 1106 and 1107 as well. Her midterms are very hard, but fair. The final felt easy as it was created by all the faculty together. I didn't do super well in her class, but I wasn't aiming for the stars.
I had Dr. Savory for 1105 and 1106 and she is def one of my fav profs. The nature of the courses are heavy so you have to put in the effort and time regardless. Savory is pretty clear on what is important and the exams are fair, but it does get very detailed. Would recommend her for ANP but ATTEND LECTURES!!!!
not a very compassionate professor and doesn't care about her student's success.
She knows her stuff! It is a heavy material course and I would not recommend it as an elective but I really enjoyed her bright space organization and ability to answer questions in class!
I love this prof! I had her for 1105 as well and she really made me love Anatomy! She is very intelligent and her lectures and PP's are well laid out. I would highly recommend her. Her midterms are very tough, but the finals are easier, as they are collaborative.
She is an amazing professor and it's shown in her teaching! This class is pretty interesting and even though it is difficult, she teaches you everything you need to know. Her exams are very detailed but not impossible to do. I had Professor Savory for ANP1105 and ANP 1106 and she is definitely one of my favourites.
Her lessons are decent, she is overall nice and her midterms are decently hard. I did not use the textbook because I did not have time but it definitely would have helped my grade if I had.
People like to complain about Savory, but if you actually want to learn, she is the best anatomy professor. If you study hard, her exams are actually very fair. She holds her students to high standards, but she herself provides high-quality lectures. Would recommend her if you care about not just memorizing but understanding.
Dr Savory is an amazing prof. She talks fast but her slides are really helpful and she records her lectures. Her test are very precise so make sure to study details and you'll do fine.
Savory is a delightful prof that really helped in my understanding of Anatomy. Her lectures are top-notch and often to the point, while not being overly detailed (she points out what you'll need to know for exams). Her exams can often be quite tricky which is why she isn't the *best*, but her engaging lectures really make up for it!
she is the hardest prof, she goes into way too much detail for FIRST YEAR anatomy. ATP i'm just trying to memorize, not even understand. her lectures arent even that good, as all she does is read off the slides
Professor Savory really teaches well and makes her points well. Learning material with her is great. But the exams are the hardest.
Overall good. Lectures weren't the best and most stimulating but very from being bad. Some test and exam questions have wording that make them difficult to understand and confusing so you aren't quite sure what's being asked. Make sure you actually know the material and practice past exams and tests not just one or the other.
Prof. Savory is really knowledgeable and explains very well. A lot of her content is covered in the lectures but also be sure to watch/read the extra resources she posts. Know the small details. Do her assignments and use the extra resources on Mastering, the questions may or may not come up on exams.
I love, love, love this prof! I find myself comparing all my other profs to her as she is so well organized and knowledgeable. She was the director of the Patho course over the summer, and I am so glad I took it with her. I learned so much! Opt for her for ANP also if you can. She is TOUGH, but very fair
I truly don't understand why she has some good reviews, she is horrible and makes a hard course even more difficult. Exams are extremely specific and cover content we barely covered in lectures. She should understand that this is a first year course and not a med school course. I was hoping ti be on the Deans list but this class KILLED my GPA.
Horrible experience, the exams go into too much detail and ask things we never covered. Most of the things explained in lectures will not be in the exam, which makes me wonder what the point of her teaching us even is. Additionally she provides no resources and expects you to able to afford a tutor. Only way to pass is to cheat, which makes me sad.
I love learning and I love a challenge, but this course is extremely hard. Anatomy is difficult, I know, but she makes it so much harder. She refuses to help struggling students and instead will tell you get a tutor. During lectures it is unclear what is more important to know for the exam and what isn't. Questions on exam are confusing.
Her lectures are useless since the exam will cover nothing she explained. Be ready to read and study on your own.
Get ready to read, A LOT. The exams are easy if you just read the required readings and attend lectures. Prof. Savory is amazing and kind. She clearly cares about the class and her students. She also provides helpful tips for studying and if you just followed the lecture instructions, you'll get an A+. I wish she taught more classes.
exams are very hard. you cant just rely on slides, you also have to read the entire textbook in order to pass her exams. google has taught me more than she did. she has made my first year very awful and lost my will to pursue nursing.
I had Savory for anatomy and pathophysiology. Her lectures slides seem annoying but compared to some other profs, they're actually really good. Her exams are really hard but I'd take her class again because she's a good lecturer and she's fair.
Savory is known for having the hardest midterms and exams out of the anatomy profs, however, expectations are made really clear and we are given so many resources to succeed. Savory is open to answering questions during lectures, but if you ask something that could easily be found in the textbook, get ready to be shamed lol.
Midterm questions are worded so poorly. This class made me despise ANP.
Midterms/exams are impossible to pass. No questions are reasonable considering the content we're taught. She's made my first year terrible. I've attended all lectures, studied all slides, and read the textbook but it still isn't enough to pass midterms. She makes this class 10x harder than it needs to be. She not care about student success at all.
She is a okay teacher and hard to understand. She has tough midterms and finals and very specific questions instead of the general idea. The average was around 50% for all of her tests.
Do not take
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF TAKE GEE AND DOWNEY ESPECIALLY GEE I WENT TO THEIR LECTURES AND THEY ARE SO EASY TO UNDERSTAND THEY MAKE CONCEPTS SIMPLE. SAVORY ON THE OTHER HAND MAKES EXAMS IMPOSSIBLE. I STUDIED SO HARD AND GOT A 70. WORST CLASS. THE CONTENT IS EASY BUT THE EXAMS WERE ON A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL. THANK YOU SAVORY FOR MAKING THIS CLASS HELL
VERY difficult exams. I understand ANP is not an easy class but her exams asked the most detailed questions. However, her lectures were easy to understand and she's good at explaining difficult concepts. Very knowledgable. EDIT- you will come to realize she was the best ANP prof, and although it's difficult, this is a challenging program.
Very knowledgable prof. HARD tests but makes up for it with great teaching. You will learn a lot with her.
easily one of the worst profs i had during my first year
Although Dr. Savory is very knowledgeable and has simple lectures, her exams are super hard. I mean REALLY HARD, at least for me. I think she could maybe give us more tips on how to study ANP, because, like already, the course is not supposed to be easy but she doesn't make it any better. :((
She goes fast in lectures. She has the textbook but you don't need to read it to do well in the course, her diagrams on slides are straight from the textbook, just look at the slides. She can be rude 1-1. She was tougher than the other two profs but she knows her stuff so she expects you to as well. Do the mastering quizzes, she puts on the final.
Very hard professor, compared to other ones I've had. She doesn't care for her students and is very rude (especially one-on-one). Her exams are very hard- get ready to set yourself up for failure. She explains things and forgets we are first year. She runs through the material and doesn't take the time to explain. AVOID HER!
she made my first year the worst and makes me want to switch programs. I wish the University would realize.
WOW. This class slapped me across the face. Let me tell you, i was not expecting first year first semester to hit me like it did. i blame the drop in gpa on this class and 1106. take this class online or with anyone else idc. She is a very intelligent lady but expects you to know WAY more than you do. Not a good teacher in my opinion. SORRY!
Very hard exams, but very good lectures compared to other profs (clear, informative, straightforward). had savory for all 3 anps and def my fave of the anp profs, super knowledgeable. expectations are very clear and people hate on savory, but at a certain point its on you to put in the work lol anp is just a hard class study hard and youll do fine.
Genuinely an impressive and knowledgable prof, she is extremely fair in her grading and although many may hate pearson, it can somewhat offset a bad grade. Taught everything she had to and did it all very precisely, and precise is the one adjective I would chose to characterize Savory. Slides are comprehensive and clear, results depend on you.
She understands the content really well and does a good job explaining it. The lecture pace is quick and she expects you to do all the readings. Not an impossible course to do well in but there is so much content you need to be really committed. She is clear on what won't be tested and everything else is fair game. There are far worse prof options.
Overall average prof, nothing to complain about.
Very fair, assessments are not too hard as long as you study. Good powerpoints, and she answers any questions you have quickly. Would definitely recommend.
2 midterms, a final, and a super easy group project where we wrote an article. She's intelligent, and can be passive aggressive at times, but honestly, her teaching makes up for it. Slides are well organized and genuinely interesting. Her exams are fair and very doable as long as you understand, and the textbook supports/further explains everything
She is the worst prof I had in my first year. She's extremely rude and doesn't care for her students. Her lectures are super hard, and she speaks very fast.
She has pretty good lectures, her slides are in-depth but she speaks quite fast and tends to stutter/fumble on words which makes it a little difficult to follow along especially on harder concepts. Her midterms/exams are pretty difficult but they're all mostly based on the lecture slides. I recommend reading the textbook for better understanding
She posts videos in Brightspace, which is helpful, but her lectures don't really align with her syllabus, this is something that I noticed in ALL (3) the anatomy classes I've taken at uOttawa. Lectures are very general, but exams are very specific and detailed and I wish lectures would focus more on what you actually need to know to pass the exam.
Extremely tough and does not help students. Expects a lot of prior knowledge for a beginning class. Not understanding about tough midterms and finals.
She's tough but so is this course. Her exams are fair, but they require some thinking because she doesn't word things like 1+1. If you study to memorize then that is where her exam questions will get you. Don't leave studying till the last minute. She's a great teacher, so take advantage of her lectures; it'll help you understand.
a teacher with a clear ego.. she paused the lecture and stared down someone leaving in the middle of her lecture... every time I had this class I would wish the train I was in would derail.
While this course is challenging, she does an excellent job of explaining the material, and her lecture slides are really helpful. The exams are fair but tough, reflecting the course's difficulty. If you read the textbook and take thorough notes, you should do well. Overall, it's an enjoyable class.
She will not reply to my emails. For some reason she also loves making people feel inferior to her. She genuinely thinks she's better than everyone else. Please take some one else. If you're taking Anatomy do urself a favour and take Micheal Downey.
Great professor! The course and content is difficult but Savory always tries to explain it in a way that is more comprehendible (she sometimes uses examples from real life aspects). Make sure to attend her lectures, ask questions, read the textbook and also UNDERSTAND THE CONTENT. You will not get an A with her if you just memorize!
goes through material very quickly, and difficult material
Savory is a knowledgeable prof, but her exams are brutal. Lectures don't fully align with course material. Attendance is a must. Leveraging resources like unstuck ai can help offset the difficulty. Overall, a challenging class, but you'll learn a lot.
I heavily dislike and this class and wish no one else has to go through the torment of answering savory's cardio questions - they were immensely unfair and lowkey impossible to answer, god help me. Only saving grace was the other teachers which made midterms slightly more tolerable and genuinely possible to answer.
Talks to fast and really hard to follow, the midterms are very time consuming for a first year class.
The course had 5 teachers total, savory covering about 40% of total lectures. In the exams, her questions were the hardest ones... of course. Some were almost impossible to figure out and I'm sure she makes them harder on purpose. Her slides are content dense... but even knowing all of it wont prepare you for her ultra specific questions.
Very good and explains things very well.
Savory is THE GOAT. She knows everything about everything. Yeah she is tough but thats because she knows her stuff. If you don't know what she expects you to, then you'll get left behind, but thats the way it should be imo. You need to study for sure.
A fine prof who knows her material.Willing to explain concepts during lectures. Her PPs are dense and studying them solely still doesn't prepare you for all her difficult MC questions. If you take her, ensure you attend lectures (not recorded), read the text book, and constantly review concepts. She expects a lot so you'll need to put in the work.
Dr. Savory is great! Her slides are very informative, and she includes general expectations of learning/topic overviews at the beginning of each slide deck, as well as relevant textbook chapters. She is generally great at clearly explaining complex aspects of physiology and has a sense of humour. The course is demanding, but it is meant to be.
She does her best to explain things. Practice with old midterms.
Very heavy lectures and a very hard grader.
Hard course, lots of review and material to cover via the lecture slides and online textbook. However, Dr. Savory does a fantastic job teaching her material and gives good supplementary resources for exam review. Exams are hard but fair, just study hard. In ANP you get what you give!
Savory is generally a good prof, and her exams were fair, but they were hard because this course is hard and content heavy. I also found that Savory is a bit rude, often belittling her students. The 1st mid had a low average and she stated she was "surprised so many ppl struggled", as if the course material is supposed to come naturally. STUDY tons
Savory is a perfectly decent prof. She conveys the content well and is easy to follow. The midterms and exams can be challenging, but it is anatomy after all. Plus mastering A&P and the assignments are pure grade boosters. Just don't ask her a question she won't like lmao.
ok there are definitely better anatomy profs - savoury is the hardest one. but at the end of the day when she lectures she really feels like an expert. if you have a genuine interest in anatomy take her. if you want a high GPA - avoid.
Do not take her if there are other options. Exams are strictly detail based, making them very difficult to study for especially considering it'a a first year course.
She always feels superior to her students and is definitelty unapproachable. Her questions are the hardest among all ANP profs. Class average of C explains them all.
She expects you to know A LOT on the exams while explains concepts so poorly.
She's not terrible... the slides are good. Lectures are a little helpful but not a lot idk. She will judge your questions though lol you'll learn to just go look it up in the textbook. Like everyone has said the exams definitely ask for really obscure stuff.
When you ask her a question, she will talk to you like a lesser being lol
Savory is a a very good prof. She keeps her lectures concise and explains the topics well. The content for this class was heavy, but the PowerPoints are very informative and helpful while studying for the exams. As long as you keep on top of studying for the class, you'll make it out alright.
Decent. She just expects such specific things on her multiple choice exams. Your not really learning anything at that point just spewing back information.
a good prof
Amazing lecturer, really applies the information and comes off super experienced and knowledgable. Exams are very hard and include heavy amounts of material. Don't expect this to be an easy class and study hard for diagrams!
If you can avoid her, please do. As someone who has loved almost every prof so far in uni, Savory is acc a menace... Exams are SO hard for no reason, like if you have 3 profs for the anatomy class, all of the other profs have manageable exam questions BUT SAVORY, make you prayers. She also was laughing during our final at the front of the class....
Extremely difficult and confusing exam questions. Focused on a lot of content that wasn't on the exams during the lectures.
Savory is a good lecturer no doubt, she's awesome and we can tell she knows her stuff. but holy crap her midterms are so difficult for no reason. considering this is a first year anatomy course, it is too insane and she makes it very difficult and impossible to score good on purpose. the questions on her exams are too specific and niche. i hated it
As someone who has been taught by 5 different ANP professors across all 3 ANP courses, Dr. Savory is by far the best one. She is truly an incredible lecturer. Yes, her exams are notoriously difficult she is SO worth having as a professor. She definitely isn't easy, but I've learnt so much more with her than with any other professor.
*PHS3300; I was scared at first based on the reviews but she is very knowledgable and a great teacher! Her content is clear, her exam questions are fair and lectures are (long) but very interesting. I believe if you think she sucks its because you didn't study the content. She made concepts easy to grasp- just put in the work & you'll do great!
Can't speak on behalf of her ANP's, but I was really scared to have her as a prof for Patho. She's amazing and explains concepts super well.
She's good at teaching and her slides are very thorough. She makes her slides very content heavy and tests you on the smallest things so pay attention to everything. Her exams are quite difficult but manageable if you study a lot.
Savory is honestly not bad. Her lectures are well structured and her slides are very organized. She isn't the most approachable but she is a great lecturer. My advice is actually read the textbook. She didn't pull anything from the textbook that wasn't covered on the slides but it helped me understand the content better.
She is not as bad as some people say. Be ready to write as she talks and write fast. I wouldn't recommend asking questions in class as she doesn't always answer them with a respectful tone but other than that I loved having her a teacher. The exams were definitely fair but you also have to study hard for them.
She is a great teacher and when it comes to ANP classes, much better than PHS. However, with an almost failing class average and unfair test questions with such little exam time, it feels like students are being set up for failure.
Idk why people are saying not to take her. Personally, I feel like she's great. She mainly teaches ANP courses and the nature of those courses are content-heavy so it's only natural for people to find it challenging. However, Savory does a good job conveying content, and she's super knowledgeable. Her exams are quite fair, and many people did well.
Not the worst, but she speaks very fast and gives the impression that she expects you to already know all the material before class. She was often passive aggressive when students asked questions or for examples of concepts, saying she doesn't know why they are asking that even if it's a reasonable question. Make sure to read the textbook, it helps
Prayed my bus home from the exam would crash so I wouldn't have to see the results to that MONSTROSITY. I hate the way she formats her slides. She doesn't care if half her students are failing, she just makes a passive aggressive post saying you need to try a different approach to the class, and if you ask her a question she deems dumbs shes RUDE
