Joanne is great! Its actually fun to sit in on her lectures and listen to her obsession with Oprah . Definately informative and made my first year enjoyable!

Joanne is an incredible teacher to say the very least! Such energy and entusiasm for her discipline...if you don't already love Crim. - you will by the end of her class!! She expects alot though, but you WILL learn :)

Joanne is a kick-ass intructor! She demands a lot, but you learn a lot, and she there to help you along the way. Very approachable and. However I was offended at her calling some aspects of Crim 'sexy'. Take her class even if you're not a crim student

Great instructor, but VERY demanding. Fun and energenic and a great class to attend, but be prepared to cry like a baby if you don't actually prepare to work your butt off.

I love her classes. She makes Criminology exciting. If you have a chance to take a class with her I highly recommend it.

There is never a dull moment in Joanne's class! She is an extremely demanding prof, but a fair grader. You really lean a great deal from her classes.

Joanne is a fabulous teacher. She instructs very clearly and makes every lecture interesting. Her papers may be demanding, just work hard at them and she is more than willing to read them beforehand. And, for her tests, take good lecture notes and you'll be fine.

Really enthusiastic, one of the few teachers who actually loves what she teaches. Very hard marker, anal about grammer, but that's expected! work hard and you'll do fine...the best Crim professor at Malaspina by far! and for all those guys...she's divorced now!

Good teacher. Proofread your essays before handing them in and you will be fine. Tests are difficult if you don't read the text/pay attention in class. If you work hard you can easily get an A.

Joanne is an awesome professor. She knows her stuff and doesnt take any crap. You gotta be diligent when it comes to her class, go to class and get your work done cause she wont accept anything late. But shes fair, nice to talk to as both a friend and professor. Marks and returns tests/papers on time. Gives interesting lectures. I recommend her.

WOW! What a fun but hard class. The class would be evil if it were not for her happy, exciting, and reasonable attitude and teaching stlye. Very kind and wants to see her students do well. Best teacher I have ever had...Im a chronic skipper and I never missed one of Joanne's classes no matter how tired I was on those dreaded Monday mornings...Class lectures were always interesting and even when the material was dull she made it fun..Great sense of humour...wish she was my best friend

Joanne is a great teacher. She is very passionate about her profession. She can be ugly if you are on her bad side though so if you value your life DONT piss her off! Overall I would say she has been THEE best prof I have ever had regardless of the fact that she can be a complete PSYCHO sometimes. definetely an "animated" person!!!!

Joanne's classes are a hard but I LOVE THIS WOMAN!!! I've had her for 3 times. Her lectures are entertaining and she is one of the sweetest ppl ever. She is helpful but you don't want to be on her bad side. Her tests/papers take hours of prep and she is a hard marker but you will learn a ton. She loves aero bars and bownies... remember that :)

She is a great teacher. One of the best of the CRIM department. Not an easy teacher, she expects a lot. She generates a lot of interest in all topics and is really clear in instructions and if you put in the effort you will be marked accordingly. She is awesome!

Although being assigned to read Joanne's favourite book and write a book review worth 30% wasn't my ideal project, I still found it to be easy and received a flattering mark. Joanne is very passionate about what she teaches and it makes me want to be passionate about the subject as well. I learned a lot from her!

Joanne is a nice and helpful professor, however, she is very unprofessional. She projects her political biases non-stop, and absolutely despises anybody who opposes her "politically correct" liberal views. Constantly uses profanities during lecture and certainly not someone I'm happy spending $500.00 to learn from. Would not recommend.

I love Joanne. She bases 10% of mark off of participation. Whether that's speaking in class, sending her links of interesting things, or seeing her on office hours. Yes, she is quite obviously liberal, but everyone feels free to speak their opinions, and she encourages discussion. I always laugh during class, she keeps the material lively!

Joanne cares. She plans her lectures and makes herself available for students. But good god, we get it, you are Liberal already. I am too, but I'm not going to jamb this down everyone's throat that I know, especially if I am an authority figure to them. In my opinion, It hurts the cause more than it helps.
