Jo was the TA in my Anatomy lab, but taught most of the class and was AMAZING! She knows her stuff and really cares about the students. Hard class, but she makes it fun and seem easier. She always answers emails quickly. I am really excited she is teaching her own classes now because she is terrific! You will love her class!!
Jo was a really great instructor. Funny, fair, knowledgeable and genuinely wanting her students to succeed without letting them coast through. Shes created a great balance ensuring students learn the material without overwhelming them to the point of becoming discouraged and unmotivated. Would absolutely take again.
I had a hard time learning from Jo. In open labs she wasn't sure of what some structures were so be sure to clarify with your instructor. In open lab she yelled at the whole class to pay attention to her so she could tell us what she thought we should all be doing. Not helpful or friendly, I never went back to those open labs. Find someone else.
I can tell Jo has the passion to be a teacher but I don't think she can take information and teach it very well. She is friendly and motivates you to learn things on your own but half the time I don't feel like she even knew what she was saying or maybe struggles with how to put together the words. Plan on figuring everything out on your own.
Anatomy is a tough class, a lot of memorization is required for it. Jo made it entertaining, and she had some really helpful tips for how to learn. I feel like I learned more in the Lab with Jo than I did in the lecture. This is the second time Ive taken anatomy and Jo is so much better than the first teacher I had. Would highly recommend Jo.
Jo was nice and genuinely wanted us to do well. I had some health issues at the end of the semester and she was really understanding and met with me outside of class to help me. Physiology lab is a crap show anyway and she really made the most out of what she was given. She lets you correct labs to get full points & is clear on what will be tested.
Jo is very intelligent, but no amount of intelligence will make up for not caring. She honestly might be the worst educator I have ever seen, in terms of the actual classroom experience. Decent person, just not great at the job.
Jo is awesome. She is very clear on what you will be tested on. The only negative thing I have to say about her is that it is really hard to understand what she is teaching. I think she is very knowledgeable and knows what she is talking about but it is hard to understand concepts when she tries to explain it to you. Lets you correct problems.
Jo is caring for her students and is willing to help, but she has a tough time organizing her thoughts and explaining the concepts. I believe she knows the matter, she just has a tough time explaining it.
Jo is the most caring professor I've ever had. She is clear about what you will be tested on each week, is leanient with answers on quizzes/exams and has EC on exams. The comment stating she is the worst educator is absolutely absurd. It is rare to end up with a prof. that is so compassionate and understanding as her. Love her and her class!
Jo is absolutely awesome! Anyone who says she doesn't know how to explain things is not paying attention. She expects you to put in the work, but Ive NEVER had a teacher take so much of their own time to make sure their students understand things. Makes herself available outside class so you can come get extra help if needed. Sign up for her class!
Jo is one of the most caring anatomy teachers I have ever seen. She volunteers her free time after class in order to help her students understand whatever they are struggling with. She is super funny and lightens up the daunting task of learning everything you need to know for anatomy and is VERY Knowledgeable. Definitely take this class!!!!!!!!!!!
Jo is great! Easy A as long as you come to class
Loved her! She was a great professor and would love to take her for Physiology. As long as you go to the labs, and do the post lab questions, you will pass the class. Very friendly and gives lots of feedback.
One of the funniest professors you will ever have. Very friendly and made her labs very enjoyable. There are quizzes at the beginning of each class but those are easy as long as you payed attention in previous class labs. Her lab classes was the only class I looked forward to which says a lot!! Take her!!!
One of the best professors i have had.
Taking Jo for Physiology lab was one of the best decisions I've ever made. She does a fantastic job explaining the purpose of each lab and ensures that everyone understands what the procedures will be. She is a big fan of group work, especially having one group explain to the rest of the class their results from the experiments. She's the best.
Jo is an amazing professor, she is very helpful, and will be clear on what you need to know. The labs are done in groups and she will explain it and let you figure it out as a group, which is helpful, and she will help if you need it. She's also funny. Definately reccomend.
Jo is awesome. She really tries to help her students to retain the materials and to pass her class. Human anatomy is a hard class in general so expect to put the work in. Her quizzes was a little overwhelming at times, but really DOES HELP with retaining the materials. I definitely recommend her.
Best. Professor. Ever. Honestly she is the best professor I have ever had. So intelligent and has the best personality. She makes you know your stuff and will help in any way she can if you dont understand something. Highly recommend her!
Jo is an amazing teacher. She truly cares about helping students to understand the subject materials. However, she encourages students to study and try to solve the problems on their own beside her help. I love this because this is how students should do for their study. She does not make students feel stupid when they ask questions. Thank you Jo.
Jo is awesome because she doesn't waste your time making you do things that won't apply to lecture or future classes. But when important concepts come up she's awesome at taking her time to explain them and making sure everyone understands. Super chill. Would recommend.
I literally just love her. One of the best professors ever. Very intelligent and has such a great personality. I am taking her for two other lab classes because I just really appreciate her and the way she teaches. I learn so much in her class that really helps with lecture.
She's incredible and quite simply put the best lab instructor i've ever had. She finds great experiments and ways to help us visually see what we are learning. She is easy to talk to, explains concepts clearly, and wants you to succeed. I felt like she was more helpful for my lecture concepts than my lecture professor was.
Jo was engaging for lecture, responds quickly to questions, EXTREMELY fair with grading. Anatomy Lab is very tough, you won't pass if you don't study like crazy. She makes it fun tho. Pay attention to her hints in class and get tutoring in STEM early even if you are doing well @ first. I plan to take her for Phys Lab & Microbio lab in the future.
Jo is the lab teacher I should have taken the first time I took Anatomy. What an organized and caring person! She gets it, she thinks how students think, like maybe she's been there before so that's what she expects, commitment and putting in the time. She truly is a wonderful teacher and I would not recommend anyone else for lab!
Jo is absolutly amazing! I had to take this class twice. I had Jo as my lab instructer both times. She is very passionate about what she teachs. She has an amazing personality and makes learning fun! She will bend over backwards to help you, all you have to do is ask. I can't wait to take more classes with her! She's by far the best!
Jo is seriously the best instructor I've ever had - lab or lecture. I've taken two classes from her because of it. I definitely wouldn't have passed anatomy without her. She explains things in a way that just sticks, and she's super funny, too. She really knows her stuff, and wants you to know it, too. TAKE HER CLASS.
Jo is in my opinion the best Lab teacher at SLCC. She is upfront with the difficulty of the class (if you don't like difficult classes get out of the medical field) but goes above and beyond to make herself available and offer assistance whenever possible. She is more lenient on quiz answers than she needs to be. She awesome !!!
Jo is my favorite lab teacher. I took her Biol 2325 and 2065 classes and Im glad that I did! She really wants you to succeed and tries to help you to learn!
I absolutely loved Jo! She's probably one of the best professors I've ever had. She really wants you to succeed and will help you with any questions you might have. She's really funny, and easy going. I will definitely take her for micro next spring!
This class was the first class I got real test anxiety and stayed up all night to study. While I have problems with the anatomy department and how they messed up the calendar my semester (we had to crunch 2-3 systems or chapters a week and had to do a lot of self taught learning because, we didn't have the class time) Jo is amazing I recommend her.
I had Jo for anatomy lab and the class was very difficult because of the large amount of information that must be learned in one semester. She was always helpful and taught the information in a way that made it easier to remember. If you study and utilize the open labs you can do well. I would definitely take Jo again.
Jo seems to be a great lab professor for other subjects, but I think she either is new or inexperienced in micro. I would ask questions about the lab and she often seemed confused and didn't know the answers on just basic lab protocol questions. However, I've never had a professor be as kind and caring as she is. She was very easy on grading.
Amazing teacher. Difficult, but fair. Hard subjecthard work. She makes that clear. Very intelligent but knows how to explain hard subjects. Had her for 3 different labs and she made all of them easier to understand. Helped with lecture. How does she teach so many subjects SOOOO well! Crazy smart! If you don't like her, it's probably you not her.
Prof Stosich was fabulous! She was fully engaged, available to answer questions and help explain things. She made lab fun and stress-free!
Jo is a great professor. She gives feedbacks regularly. Easy pass
AMAZING!! Anatomy is hard no matter who you take it from, but Jo was always caring and willing to help out. Covid has made the class difficult, but she always gave amazing videos that explained things very well. She is really funny, & it always helped me remember things. Unlimited attempts were given for practice tests which helped tons on exams!
I love Jo! She is a tough grader only because she wants you to answer the whole question and not skip things, which is normal. Jo gives you an actual real chance to pass the class. The was the best online lab I have ever taken. It was actually fun and engaging to do! I will definitely take more classes with Jo!
Jo is amazing! Don't take biology class from anyone else! I had her before for intro bio and she was so great I took her again for Phys. She tries to make everything fun and do-able because this class is hard by nature. There is a group project at the end and weekly discussions that you want to do a week in advance or you'll be hating life.
AMAZING take human physiology lab from her now!! She's so sweet and super understanding that learning online is hard!!! TAKE FROM HER!!!
I feel like I am in the twilight zone reading these positive reviews. I have taken over 120 credits at this school and by far this was the worst professor I have ever had. She would spend the lecture time screaming at us and telling us how behind we were, but wouldn't give us guidance on how to fix things. I had so many panic attacks this semester.
Grades were based on a lot of proctored quizzes and proctored exams. You get unlimited attempts to do the practice quizzes before you do the actual graded proctored quizzes. Do as many of the practice questions and more because the exam questions come straight out of the question banks of the quizzes. I had to study a lot. About 4-5 hours a day.
Physiology Lab w/ Jo was okay since it was online. You have to teach yourself since she just mainly provides a lot of reading materials and a couple of videos. Would of like for her to have prerecorded lectures & videos of her doing the actual Labs bc sometimes the labs were hard to understand. Let's you retake lab reports so that helps ur grade!
Best anatomy teacher I could ask for. Great at explaining concepts and clarifying any questions. Weekly in class quizzes that stem from online practice quizzes. Cares for students and makes sure they have what they need. Extra credit bonus project plus few points here and there. Definitely attend open lab whenever possible and STUDY A LOT!
Jo is such a fair, understanding, and patient teacher! Helped bump up the class grade a ton with extra credit and partial credit points. She lets you be at your own and doesn't give much lectures, so dig through ALL of the SLCC Anatomy website study tools during class time like cadavers and SLCC Anatomy Quizlet helped in Activity 7-12. STUDY HARD!!
Jo is a good lab instructor, however this lab is mostly self taught. Every week you will start out with a quiz and the second half is a self directed activity with your table. Spend a lot of time studying. Remember this is only 25% of your anatomy grade, if you do well in your lecture don't worry too much perf quiz scores. And go to open labs!
Jo is a good lab teacher but most of what we did was self taught. She gave lots of extra points and opportunities to make up assignments. During the labs, she would disappear for long periods of time but overall she was a straight forward lab instructor. She is big on participation when lecturing. For her labs, we did a pre and post-assignment.
Joanne is very straightforward in class and with what you need to know for her tests. I really enjoyed her teaching style. She is extremely helpful during class if you are confused. Sometimes lab was a little disorganized (but it was because someone else set up lab for her) and she was always able to go with the flow.
Jo es la mejor!!! (Jo is the best) One of the best professors I had at SLCC.
As long as you do the prelabs and postlabs, you will do great on the quizzes. She is always open to questions which is great. She also always lets you know what will be on the quiz for the next class, guaranteeing you 100%. I absolutely love her and honestly if you just read the exercise you have a quiz on three times you should ace the quiz.
Jo was an amazing teacher. She is fun and lighthearted about labs. She seemed really strict in her orientation module, but soon became one of my favorite teachers. The attendance policy however, is insanely strict, it's not so bad if you only have class once a week with her, but if you plan on missing more than one lab, don't take the class.
I would absolutely take Jo again. She was a fantastic lab teacher and made sure all of her students were taken care of. She cares about her students and wants them to succeed. There is a quiz every week you come into class and a group project that will take all semester. It was so easy, as long as you do the work.
Jo was an AMAZING professor. She cares a lot about every student and tries her best to help you succeed. Anatomy Lab is a very tough class, however she prepares you very well for the final and midterm. She gives weekly quizzes which buffer your grade and are set up like the midterm and final which really helps. Wish i could take her for every lab.
Jo is cool for the most part. She's funny/tries to make things fun. However, her tests are insane. NO multiple choice. She expects 2-3 hours to study everyday which is impossible with a job. She is rude at times & not very personable/only talks about herself. When you ask questions, she acts like it's a dumb question/not willing to help. SHE IS HARD!
She can be intense but that is because she is passionate about anatomy & physiology & teaching. She cares about the success of her students. I learned a lot from her & appreciate all that she did for us. I would take another class from her.
Jo is such a cool professor. She's very understanding & caring, & she seems like she genuinely wants us all to do well. She tells you what to study for the quiz at the beginning of the next class, & also makes sure everyone understands the post-lab material so you can turn it in before you leave class. I seriously loved her class!
She is a great professor, can be intimidating at first but warms up to you overtime as class goes on. She will help you if you need help and genuinely wants you to succeed in her class. Her labs are quite easy and she is a fair grader. She does NOT like late work and will quiz you in class every week in person. She explains things really well
She is the best, take with her!
Jo made lab very fun. Physiology was hard to understand but she made phys lab super fun and very efficient. Labs are usually scheduled for 3 hours but she so was so efficient that we finished before the 2 hours mark. She loved teaching phys and it shows and that's primarily why I started to love phys, as hard as that class was.
Jo was an amazing professor. Very easy lab credit as all work was gone over together. There is a big group research project but it is very very easy and she does not grade harshly at all. Take the phys lab with her as it is very fun, easy, and rewarding!
jo is the best! she will make sure her students are set for success and she cares beyond you can imagine! anatomy is not an easy class but with jo it felt like heaven. her voice a little scary but trust me shes helpful and will help u beyond what u deserve.
I'm currently enrolled in Jo's physiology and anatomy labs and I ADORE this woman. She is super helpful and caring and wants every student to succeed. Anatomy and physiology are difficult classes that she makes so simple. She's hilarious and engaging. She lays out exactly what to study for exams/quizzes. Take her if you want a low stress semester!
Jo is nice but I hated this lab. There is an entire semester long group project that absolutely sucks if you get paired with the wrong students. I dreaded this class because of how draining this project was and working with peers who put very little effort into our combined grade. Not a lot of learning about actual Physiology. SLCC should reevaluate
The class was fun and easy. the semester consisted of a big group project so the in-class assignments and quizzes were easy to work on.
Easy and laidback class. The group project is not bad if you're paired with the right students. I wish we got to do more experiments and hands-on learning, but it was nice to get out of class an hour early most days.
this lab is very easy, nothing like anatomy. She is a great professor. you have a semester long project and then quizes each lab, but she is super helpful. the project isn't hard so don't stress about that! she is a very caring professor and will help you.
Jo is a great Professor, but this is a really difficult class. She always tells you what to expect on the tests/final. She uses all 3 hours of her lab time so don't expect to leave early. Use the open labs, they will help you so much. She is super funny and really supportive, she lets you know what to do to help your grade and be successful.
It seems like lab is a lot harder than lecture because it's very fast pace and a lot of material to memorize. Open lab is key. I slacked on going to open lab near the end of the semester and could tell the difference when I took the final. Watch whatever lecture videos are available and participate in class and open lab.
POPS project is fun, follow grading criteria closely+attention in class+learning from pre-labs = +100% she's chill and fun, very interesting and easy to follow material. No midterm/finals/exams. quizzes every week which are easy (based off pre lab) choose your POPS group members carefully, if they slack or mia tell Jo early on! Always show up.
This is a difficult course but Jo was awesome. She cares about her students and expects a lot but is also very fair. She has a passion for what she does and it shows. Her class is very structured and attendance is mandatory. If you go to open labs, she will often give hints and pointers for what will be on her quizzes. She welcomes questions.10/10
I absolutely 100% recommend Jo! She is AMAZING! I'm already in another lab with her. She cares a lot about her students and wants you to succeed so she will help you if you ask. She is very straightforward, some people think she sounds mean but I assure you she's very sweet!
Jo is great! She wants you to learn and has a great way of teaching you. She seems strict which she is in a sense but also lenient when necessary. I was nervous but ended up with an A. REVIEW REVIEW REVIEW but thats just anatomy.
She is not good at making things clear and was bothered by simple questions.
She was very strict about deadlines but took forever to grade anything. Her explanations were unclear, and the entire class was usually confused. She didn't make an effort to help us understand the material. I also feel as if she was bothered by answering some questions.
I absolutely LOVED taking anatomy lab with Jo! She took over my class since my OG professor was dismissed. She has such a bright energy and makes learning fun, her personality may not be for everyone but I absolutely loved it! We did a quiz at the beginning of class and the midterm and final were a breeze! (She also brought her puppy for the final)
Jo's physiology lab feels disorganized — a lot of students are unsure what to do/study. She missed the second week and we didn't learn anything. The next week, she rushed through the material in five minutes and still gave a quiz. She had said her absence wouldn't affect our grade but it did. I wouldn't recommend her for phys lab right now.
Very disorganized, very hard to follow what we are supposed to be getting out of each lab. It's not difficult by any means but I also don't feel like I learned anything.
I like Jo as a person! She was fun and I liked her personality. I think from what I've heard I would prefer taking her for an anatomy lab. Physiology lab was a bit of a rough go understanding what was expected and just overall felt very disorganized. Lab would often leave me more confused instead of helping me learn the concepts better....
Jo is a funny and enthusiastic person, for sure. I like talking with her. However, I have to say the class is disorganized. It's hard to know what we should know and what we don't know if we are learning new material, right? However, Jo spends little time covering the material, and most of the time we are simply asked to learn by ourselves.
Jo is an AMAZING professor!! She made sure we understood and was happy to answer any questions. If you take her anatomy lab, you will know and succeed in anatomy if you are willing to put in your own work as well! Can't recommend Jo enough!
Amazing professor. She makes a difficult class surprisingly fun and keeps you engaged the whole time. You'll need to attend plenty of open labs, but they're incredibly helpful and worth it. She's always willing to answer questions, explain concepts in different ways, and make sure you understand the material.
I am super grateful for her teaching. She is excited about the content and it comes through in her course. I did my undergraduate at a insanely expensive private university and the quality of Jo's teaching is on par if not better than what I received during my undergrad. You WILL be challenged but if it was easy it wouldn't be rewarding.
mazing professor. She makes a difficult class surprisingly fun and keeps you engaged the whole time. You'll need to attend plenty of open labs, but they're incredibly helpful and worth it. She's always willing to answer questions, explain concepts in different ways, and make sure you understand the material.
Amazing Professor. Amazing resources. Lectures are clear. Course structure is perfect. Weekly quizzes keep you on your toes but as someone who is a procrastinator they were fundamental toward keeping me on track with the heavy course load. You will need to work hard, this class is not easy, but Jo wants you to succeed. Go to open lab.
Great teacher. She is picky about wording on tests but makes it clear what she is asking you. Make sure to attend open labs as they are the most helpful. Overall super nice and does a good job of teaching complex material
