Awesome teacher! If you get the WONG you are going to have fun, and learn alot. She is understanding and a wonderful teacher.
She is so much fun and makes class go by fast. There actually aren't that many speeches at all though. Two finals and a paper
You can't go WONG w/ Mrs. Wong. She is awesome! So helpful and makes class fun! She wants you to succeed and gives you all the possible tools! Inspired me to get a degree in Communications...
Professor Wong is fun and engaging teacher. The class assignments (several presentations and a group project) have real world applications. She grades fairly, but expects a reasonable amount of work for an ?A? grade. This class is not a blow off, but it?s not too hard either. I highly recommend Professor Wong as an unusually good teacher.
Wong is a great and fun teacher you will enjoy her! she makes you work for your grade but if you take good notes you can use them for the final.
I never studied for the tests and still got a high A. There are only a few required speeches but other than that the class is very laid back and fun.
Professor Wong is an awesome teacher, she is witty and fun to be in class with. You have to work for your grade but other than that she is an awesome professor and will help you in every way possible to acheive an A! I surely recommend taking her class!
Welcome back to 5th grade ! MrsWong would be better suited for an elementary school.Time to ignore EVERY 2hr long boring lecture and just go to the chapter in the book and study the review section. The lectures she gives will NOT help you on tests.Reading and regurgitation just like in middleschool.I received a high grade, but it was a WASTE of time!
Awesome. Great teacher. Took this class as a hybrid and I felt she did a great job as a teacher. I was very anxious about this class but ended up liking it very much.
Mrs. Wong is an amazing teacher! She goes out on her way to teach what she loves to do best! It is not hard to get an A in her class if you just do your work and study. She makes lectures very engaging!
She actually makes you want to learn about speech. She's super sweet, very helpful. Tests aren't hard, you just have to read some of the book to make sure you've got some of the key vocab she needs. Her grading is fair and the speech is easy peasy! She even gives you an outline to follow so that you can hit all the points on her rubric
She is a great and understanding professor! Exams are taken from her class lectures and textbook, SO STUDY AND READ! She keeps the class entertained and easy to listen to.
Mrs. Wongs lectures don't reflect her tests whatsoever. You can score a 100 on your only speech and still ruin your grade with the redundant vague tests format. She lectures about simple ideas until the horse is dead, yet refrains from reiteratingteaching what is truly on the test. Thought she was coolhelpful, kind of politicalfake vibe.
This professor is really good giving lectures. She is very clear and really nice!
This class is really interesting, her lectures are really awesome. However, you STILL NEED TO READ! You might think the tests reflect her class lectures due to all her in class work activities, but they're really based on the textbook. Which is not bad, you are expected to read in college! She's there for help and is extremely nice.
Professor Wong is full of energy, bubbly, and knows her material. She is willing to help those who want to help themselves. Test are pretty straightforward. She gives you an outline what to study. Study what is on the review, take notes in class, do the assignments, and participate. Attendance is a MUST. Don't be late. You will pass!
Took this class online. I missed my first exam but got a decent grade on the second one. The third one (final) was taken at home so of course I got a great grade on that one! She's pretty awesome, like nerd culture, games, comics etc. She's into communication so get ready. 2 class meetups, easy A if you do the work. It's not much. I liked her.
Mrs. Wong is also a professor at UT so if you take her class, you are getting a quality instructor. Gives feedback on a timely manner and assignments have clear guidelines. This is a speech class so participation matters. Only one speech is required throughout semester and the remaining assignments are small group activities. She's great!
great class. tests are easy if you do the readings. does deduct points if you miss class.
There are two mandatory classes for the online class. There was a lot of busy work, but most of it is interesting and easy. She is helpful and quick to respond.
Professor Wong was awesome! She made the class fun, and actually made you care about what you were learning. We had one speech, and she graded those pretty heavily. My advice would be: go to class, practice your speech, and study. Easy A!
SHE IS AWSOME DISPITE HER HELTH COMPLICATIONS WHICH CAUSES HER PAIN IN HER BACK SHE IS STRONG AND LOVES TO TEACH AND HEAR YOUR QUESTIONS.
You have to read the textbook and take notes during class if you want to pass the exams. The papers assigned help you work on managing your image, also on really communicating and understanding different people, with different views. This isn't just your typical speech class, it has so much more depth to it in a good way.
This is a great class!! She has office hours and you are able to email her and she responds in a quick manner. Go to class, participate, do your papers and you should get an A! You will work for it, but you learn a lot that is necessary to everyday life!
The professor use excellent teaching aid material that strengthen the teaching and learning process. She has a very strong background knowledge about the subject matter and has the capacity to transfer the knowledge to her student. On top of this she has a friendly approach and very cooperative in any kind of problems.
I found her lectures really easy to keep up with. Open to clarifying or the need to re-word something to help students better understand. Gives wonderful examples and is clear with her class schedule, as well as great communication.
Professor Wong is super positive and friendly- yet professional. The classes were fun and interesting. She uses great examples from pop culture and makes the information fun. She's very communicative and clear with her expectations and grading criteria. I enjoyed the class and would love to take another class with her. Not an easy A if you're lazy.
Joansandy presents the course material in a way that's easy to understand. Topics discussed are beneficial to evolving your social skills & understanding of human interaction. Follow directions & answer questions thoroughly on papers for an A. Study the review sheet & you will pass tests easily. Don't procrastinate on the journal. Great professor!
I really enjoyed taking this class.
Don't let the test grades bring you down. They are 15% of the grade. Majority of the grade comes from speech and small group activities. I was worried I would get a C and made a 90. She actually cares about her students and goes above and beyond for them. Participate in the small group activities and interpersonal assignment.
She was by far one of the best professors I've had while at ACC. She tries to gets the whole class involved in lectures. She does group work and one major speech that you have to do. She sets up the speech like half way into the semester when you are comfortable with your classmates and wont be nerve wrecked! I would deff take her again.
Professor Wong is by far the best teacher I have had at ACC. You can tell she is truly passionate about what she is doing. I have never had a teacher use so many different methods to keep her class engaged and excited about going to class. The test are a bit difficult but if you do your reading , and follow the syllabus you will get a fair grade.
Joansandy is one of the most positive people I've ever met and does a great job of making class enjoyable. Her curriculum is fun (personality quizzes and analyses of popular movies), and participation and attendance are a big part of your grade. Tests aren't very difficult, so if you attend class you'll probably be just fine.
A LOT of paper writing. 3 film analysis; 12 Better Understanding Yourself, Johari window. Go to class, you're graded on attendance as well as all of your papers. I didn't do so well on the 2 exams, but I did 100% on all of my papers and participation. Still got an A. You will learn a lot though. Take this instructor! She is great!
Professor Wong by far has been one of the best professors at ACC. She is incredibly enthusiastic about teaching, She genuinely cares about her students and wants you to succeed. Always read your assigned chapters, although she goes over the material you will do much better if you read. Attend class. Definitely would take one of her classes again.
she is very helpful, pay attention to whats due on the dates, very nice and sweet teacher, her lectures are Amazing helps you bro understand speech in a different level .
There was only one speech we had to do, and the rest were small group activities that were fun and interesting. She's a great teacher! She teaches for UT as well and really cares about you learning. Attendance is graded but I would say her class was an EASY A. Best teacher this semester!
Great professor, but the tests are NOTHING like what she teachers. For sure a textbook teacher, but you do not realize it, until it is too late.
She was very supportive during speeches, just make sure to do the readings and turn in everything on time if doing the DL course.
she is a wonderful teacher. Very sweet Has some health conditions that she acknowledges, and talks about may miss class because of it
She was amazing! Interpersonal communications is a very interesting course and she seamlessly combined the book material in with lectures, making it suuuuper easy to take good notes. As long as you do the assignments, read the chapters, go to class, and complete the 2 test reviews, it's hard not to make an A.
Such an amazing professor! Even when she wasn't feeling well she would still show up and teach. I was really nervous about having to give a speech for her class, but she helped every step of the way. As long as you are engaged in class and use her study guides for tests you can easily get an A. I would definitely take one of her classes again.
Tests are textbook heavy, but there's only two & they're only 5% of your grade each. Lots of group projects, a community service project & a speech. Prof Wong is very accessible & wants her students to succeed, but you'll have to work for an A. Attendance is mandatory, she takes points off your grade for every class missed. I enjoyed her class.
Professor Wong really cares about her discipline and always bring great energy to class even when no one else brings theirs. She is very respectful and conscientious of all of her students. You have to attend every class or let your grade suffer. Her lectures are great for note taking and she is super accommodating. I really had fun in her course.
Taking an Online Speech course I was obviously nervous, however Professor Wong made herself accessible and close. Two in class meetings; 1 speech and a group activity. Professor Wong is always positive & instantly made the speech easier & less stressful. The hardest part of the class are the tests which are 15% of your grade. Textbook is a must!!!
Great teacher at the beg. of the semester, then she had to get some kind of surgery and was upset about that for the rest of the year. She tried to hide her pain but failed & took it out on her students. Tests every two chapters, no extra credit and 1 speech. She lectures but does not go over all material thats on the test. The book is required.
2 tests and reading quizzes over each chapter. Grade is mainly composed of the informative speech, and oral& interpersonal assessment (group work : you have to go to ACC for that on a specific day). She is very understanding and if you try you will get an A. Loved her!
Professor Wong gives the best lectures! She creates an environment which allows you to feel comfortable participating. She encourages you to work as a group and has fun group activities too. She does require you to take notes, online quizzes, and attend class. Relatively easy course if you show up, study, and participate!
Seemed like a solid choice based off RMP... I was wrong. She was not understanding of student's family matters and refuses to give even partial credit. She also does not have control of the classroom and gets easily frustrated and bitter when she becomes overwhelmed (very trigger sensitive). Take another communication class unless required.
I took this class as a half hybrid class. We only meet once weekly. I mean its not hard. Just make sure you read the syllabus carefully each week and complete all assignments, no excuses are accepted. Reading chapters are necessary, there are quizzes for each chapter, and skills check offs that count heavily toward your grade so don't miss class.
Great professor , tough grader , most important thing is speech assignment prepare for it , make sure to read .
Her style of teaching is not my favorite. She relied too heavily on the internet. All her test/quiz answers can easily be found on quizlet. She literally copy and pasted.
It does not matter how much you study for the test since it is only 6.25% of the final grade but unfortunately, stupid activities in the class were a reason to get the only B in all my carrier and unfortunately for a Speech class.
Wong was a really fun teacher, the assignments were pretty understandable, and the film circles were a lot of fun, along with her activities. Very satisfied from beginning to end, and this class didn't require a Speech.
You have to read your textbook carefully in order to pass the exams. The only thing I didn't like was that I did all the work, had decent grades on the exams, and got an A on my speech only to be given a B overall because I didn't participate that much in the forum discussions. Not fair considering all the work was done. Forums are filler work.
Really wonderful professor. Only one speech and it was only 5 minutes. Really enjoyed the interpersonal aspect of the class she added through the two class meet-ups and the online, blog-style assignments. Also, she has the BEST voice and it is cool to listen to her talk. All the online assignments give multiple attempts. 10/10
Professor Wong's class was stressful for only being a speech class. Make sure to read the syllabus clearly because she is very specific of her grading. There is no point in doing the test review, since the actual test is nothing like the review. The only thing that saved my grade was reading the book, since most of the assignments are based off it.
I wanted to like her, she seemed nice, but strictly when you have to come to her office hours. She always complains about her illness. She couldn't make the class twice in the semester and didn't go over once back. You must read the textbook for the test. Her lecture doesn't cover much mostly talking with examples. You can't use perfume in class
Professor Wong has inspired my love of learning!!!
This professor is so sweet and fun teaching. I have learned a lot from this class. Even I didn't get a good grade as I expected. It's my fault. She tried to teach you real-life examples and students can ask all the questions. I can tell this is my favorite class so far since I study at ACC. I'm quiet and shy but made a few friends from class. Thx u
Professor Wong is amazing! I would say that for her test you do need to read the chapters (4 chapter per exam), but she makes the class really fun! She really tries to make concepts relatable and allows for student discussions. 5/5 (for the test a vocab sheet over the chapters really helps!)
I am so grateful for Professor Wong. I had such a great experience in her class. There was more class participation then I've had in any other class. She makes everyone feel comfortable, even the most shy of student. Thats rare! If you listen to lectures and do your reading you will get a good grade.
She is, hands down, one of the most organized, knowledgeable, and compassionate professors I have had at ACC. She knows how to make the most abstract material practical and applicable to any form. If you're considering taking her for SPCH 1318, I strongly suggest you do so.
The best professor I've ever had, she's so caring and understanding. The class is actually interesting and useful. She is so passionate about communication and that is motivation to go to class.
She is an inspirational teacher and you can tell she loves her job. Her communications class is one of the best classes Ive taken. It helped me improve relationships with coworkers and loved ones. This class teaches real life communication skills that have been helpful every day!
Prof Wong has an amazing overall ora about her, however, she does have quite a bit of attitude if her directions are unclear to you and you speak up and acknowledge that she looks at that as if you're criticizing her and she WILL NOT be wrong. Her final is graded VERY harshly! the overall class itself isn't graded that strict.
Amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing professor! strongly recommended
Professor Wong will drop you with no warning, but when you email her about what she recommends, she will say she'll get back with you, but won't. Come across mean and a little pretentious.
Speech with a Healthcare aspect. Her lectures are very impressionable. Attend class, get the community service completed on time, and participate. That's it. This is college, do your part and you will be good. Her feedback is valuable, she will listen to your concerns and encourages classroom interaction.
Professor Wong is AMAZING. She has great energy, does everything she can to ensure her students understand the lesson content, and clearly cares about her area of expertise. Be prepared to do a lot of outside work and read the textbook, but if you do that then you'll be all set. She's a great professor. Clear grading criteria.
She is a very good teacher who gives really interesting lectures. She was very nice and understanding. We did a lot of skills checks that are pretty easy and help with your grade. We only had two tests. One informative speech. And she was really helpful along the way. Do the work, read the chapters, and you can get through it. It was not that bad.
Great discussions, good feedback, not a fluff class but easy if you read and do the assignments, which are not too hard.
Loved this class! Professor Wong is very friendly. You can tell she cares about what she's teaching. Her lectures are very engaging and interesting. The class has two tests, one speech, a group project, and about seven homework assignments. The homework is very easy, the tests and speech are more difficult, as long as you study you'll do well!
I took asynchronous online during COVID & Im not convinced she really exists, tbh. You get a syllabus, assignment due dates & will never hear from her or learn anything. A waste of tuition IMO. A monkey (or 13yr old) could do the work, but its so boring and non-structured that its hard to stay motivated. ACC needs 2 improve quality of classes!!
amazing period
Knows her subject well. In class activities couple with whatever was in the reading. While attendance isn't necessarily required, there is important info for tests and projects you only get in class. Everything else is a bonus. Activities are fun and informative. It's a communication class so expect to talk with your classmates often.
Dr. Wong's class felt like home to me. Every class period I would walk in super excited to learn, and talk with my classmates. The discussions were the best, and I laughed a lot. Truly an amazing experience. Thank you Dr. Wong.
I really don't understand why this class has 2 CLOSED note exams. Grading criteria isn't clear. She'll dock points on the most minor things and the quizzes aren't according to the videos. Final speech video is HEAD TO TOE in FRONT OF PEOPLE. NO EXCEPTIONS. Expectations are too high for an elective class no one wants to actually take. Don't take her
This class was needlessly difficult. I have no idea why a freshman level speech elective has two closed note exams as well as a mandatory speech. Grading criteria feels like its all over the place, with points being taken off for things that aren't obviously necessary. Dr. Wong seems nice, but I have no real idea due to the way its set up.
It was a great class. She was very informative and overall a great teacher. This class teaches you good communication skills. The lectures are fun, everyone is involved, no one gets left out. This class does make you get out of your comfort zone, it is worth it in the end you make new friends. Take her class you won't regret it!
Professor Wong provides a syllabus with clear grading material. The 2 tests are 7.5% each which are still less than the 4 perception checks. Super easy! She spends all of class helping you practice and prepare for them. Be prepared to converse with your classmates as she does have you pair up every class, but this helps prepare you for the speech.
She has very approachable teaching style. You work with your classmates a lot which is good. All she asks for is that you read the chapters, do the weekly quizzes, and the maybe 8 other assignments throughout the semester. She's a great educator and I highly recommend taking her class if you want a fun and insightful lesson on dyadic communication.
Professor Wong does an incredible job of making her class extremely fun. You are primarily paired up each day with a partner that you get to have discussion with based on what you're learning in class on that day. The conversations were always engaging and fun. Overall, the class is very easy if you listen and take notes based on the test reviews!
Professor Wong is great! She made the class fun and encouraged us to really get to know our classmates. The class isn't difficult but participation is a big part of it so be prepared to have group work/discussions.
Dr. Wong was such an excellent professor. In each class we would participate in peer activities, and each day was some fun new way to practice what we learned in the lecture/textbook. There is one speech in the course, and she takes through each step along the speech writing process. Study terms for the two tests and you're golden!
Took speech online for her and I will say I wish I took it in person because there was a lot of confusion. There is 1 speech that has to be recorded and her grading is pretty tough. If you need a better understanding of things she replies very quick via email. Her class is very straight forward and something is due weekly. Not bad at all.
Great professor! The course is weird online, though. They will ask you to provide video recordings, but there are no video recordings from the professor, so it kind of makes understanding expectations slightly difficult.
Class was fun. She is definitely one of the best professors in ACC. Very caring and excellent lecture. Not lots of homework. But you stil need to read textbook. Test was very easy.
Very fun an engaging class. Overall will take her classes again. She uses the textbook but also goes in further to detail in class. As long as you are actively listening and putting in your best effort, this class will be a fun and a breeze!
I love Dr. Wong; you can tell she is passionate about her work. Lectures were very engaging, usually involving discussion with classmates. There are a lot of reading assignments, but not necessarily a mandatory grade. As long as you try to participate and turn your work in on time, you should do well. I would take Dr. Wong again!
Professor Wong is super knowledgeable on the topics she teaches. She gives very clear guidelines for assignments and amazing, thorough feedback. There's 2-3 modules due each week (took me less than an hour each week) and a final 4-6 minute informative speech with an audience of 5 people (can be family/friends). Overall an easy but interesting class
Professor Wong is nosy and assumptive. If you share something in class, she digs way too deep into it and try's to dissect everything said. The assignments are silly and boring, the course content is questionable and practically the entire class is based on group work. Not an enjoyable class!
Genuinely cares about you and wants you to succeed as a student. I looked forward to this class every single time because she is such an amazing teacher. Take this class if you want to have fun and enjoy talking to others. Overall this class is a A+
Dr. Wong is an exceptional professor, she genuinely cares about the class as a whole! It is a Communications class, you will be encouraged to communicate and you will get the most from class when you do. Dr. Wong does an impressive job at creating an open environment for all to participate. Her grading rubric and reviews set you up for success!
Professor Wong is engaging and passionate. The class has weekly assignments, but they're manageable. The speeches can be nerve-wracking, but she provides great feedback. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for prepping for the tests.
Prof. Wong made the class very fun and engaging. She had a clear grading criteria and offered lots of help and examples. This is a communications class, so we spoke every day. Because of this, I've made lots of friends in this class and everyone gets along well with each other. Just listen to her lectures and read the textbook, and you'll be fine.
There were 2 tests (10%), 4 discussions (10%), 6 video assignments (42.5%), a group project (15%), and a live speech (22.5%). Carry your team in the group project, and you'll lose points; no peer reviews. Ridiculous 10-point deduction for every minute under or over the allotted time for speech, no matter how good your speech is on everything else.
Dr. Wong was one of the best professors that I have had in a long time. Her class was very well structured, and directions on assignments were very clear. This class is group and communication-focused, so come to class ready to talk! I actually made tons of friends in this class and felt really connected to almost everyone in the class.
She's cool, just get ready to get serious when it comes to the work. Also, for that one comment that says she's nosy, she's not. Some of y'all like to overshare for no reason. Don't be that one person.
Took 1318 (interpersonal communication) and was very pleased. Each assignment is clear and she clears any confusions in class. Goes without saying, there is lots of talking and communicating in class amongst classmates. Love the short activities she plans for the day. Great professor and a chill fun class to make friends.
Great professor! Clear instructions, easy-to-follow assignments, and very supportive throughout the course. The online format was well-organized, and grading was fair. Highly recommend!
She was an amazing professor but her tests made no sense she gave us no review and made us go through all the slides for half of it to not even be on the actual test.
Dr. Wong is AMAZING. My favorite professor I've ever had, even though i took her course for credit. She has an amazing layout for classwork and her preparation for each class never goes unnoticed. I learned many amazing communication skills from taking her class. Graded assignments were pretty easy and she never grades too hard.
Though attendance isn't mandatory, it is HIGHLY advised to attend class cause some days will count for assignments (as some assignments are done in class). Great professor, you will have to read a little bit to have mastery; if not, you'll be fine.
You will get out of this class what you put in. Attend class for the most benefit and skills practice. Not heavy on memorization, but self-reflection is necessary. This class is a lot of fun and has so many interesting modes of teaching/learning. Keep up with the readings, assignments, participate and you should do very well in Dr. Wong's class.
