This professor is one of the best English teachers that occ has ever had. I recommand everybody to go to his Engl class. I don't like to read; therefore, Prof rolon makes the class very interesting with his method projection on screen of different poems in Engl 152. There is a quiz every 2 weeks. Prof J. Def. take this teacher for any english class he's great! I had him for short novels n i was dreadin it, but he made this class interesting and fun and I actually didn't want it to end.

Took this class to get credit towards graduation. I enjoy reading, so it wasn't THAT bad...however class itself was quite boring. You read about 6 short novels during the semester, and each class you get into groups and discuss what you have read...and that's it. Also, 2 essays are assigned & the midterm & final are essays as well. I'd give it a B-

Do not take this class for a summer session. There is too much information and too many assigments given with not enough time to complete if you have a life outside of the classroom. This class was a requirment and I am not an english-oriented student so the class was difficult for me to keep up with. If you arent interested in politics dont tak

This class could have been boring, but he made it interesting. He involved the class, which actually turned into debates. Your grade will reflect how hard you work to earn it. He is a fair and easygoing teacher. I would definately take his class again!

he's still a great teacher. lots of fun conversations in his english 2 class. just talking about life in general as it applies to the readings. everyone in the class seems to enjoy him and most of us were sad to have to go at the end of the semester. grades fairly, a few quizzes that so long as you studied the notes he gave, you got an A

very easy and funny. time passes by quick in his class. note taking for the quiz, then 4 or 5 big papers. nothing difficult. he is the man

I think that Professor Rolon is a great professor. He is also very funny too. He always makes every class interesting, and has a lot of clarity with his notes on the overhead projector as well. He teaches in the auditory sense, and in the visual sense as well. He explains the subject matter at hand thoroughly too.

GREAT AND FUN TEACHER

Prof Rolon is a nice man, he always keeps class interesting. This class consists of writing about 4 essays, an oral presentation, and a research paper. Sometimes he gives out small assignments. There are no tests, just quizzes. You'll do okay on the quizzes if you study you're notes intensely. All in all, prof rolon is a funny and nice professor.

This is a great professor!. Choose him and you will be pleased the whole semester. Things are always explained thourghly and are also very clearly.He makes the class very interesting by relating your life to the readings. Class goes by real fast. Hes funny to.

GREAT TEACHER! It is easy and you learn alot. He makes the class fun. The quizzes are easy if you study the notes he give you. Cant wait to have him again

Definitely a good teacher and fun class to attend. He relates all the stories you read to real life situations and keeps the class interesting and gets the students involved. I think i've laughed in every class i went to. Few essays and quizzes are based off your notes. I recommend him!

The guy is awesome. He delibratly starts discussions that will illicit responses from his students. Its a fun a class. I enjoyed English with him. I'd reccomend him...

Loved this class! I took the short novel and I looked forward to attending. He talks almost the whole period on everyday life things that you can relate to and discuss with the rest of the class. I would recomend him!

I never liked English until I took Professor Rolon's class at OCC. He's a GREAT professor, probably the best at OCC. His classes are entertaining, smart, and he offers a lot of room for debate on many subjects. You can tell he enjoys what he does, and I enjoyed his class and would take it again in a heartbeat. he really is easy, but please, don't take him if you plan on learning anything. OCC has more challenging classes and the class was less about the material and more about morality (that would be inspiring if we were in the 8th grade). The class is really for amateurs and if youre an english major, take someone else

Great Prof. he makes you work hard, but for a student like me who always Hated English classes, he kept me interested & made it Fun to be in class.

I appreciated Prof. Rolon's effort to incorporate authors from all cultures and different walks of life. He is a great person and a great instructor. I recommend you take him!

I took his online world lit, no book and he was a nice guy and a easy grader. the downfall was you never ever will recieve your grades on your assignments so you dont know how you are doing in the class

I LOVE Joaquin. He is the BEST professor ever! I took him 3 times and i wish he tough more classes i need. He is so funny and makes class fun... He has helped me so much even out side of english, has talked to me about questions i have about my major. He is just a FANTASTIC professor!!!

Prof Rolon is my favorite English professor at OCC!! He is so enthusiasm and gets into all his stories. Cancels class a few times and always e-mails you info for class. As long as you copy or print out the powerpoints, the quizzes are super easy & they're all open notes. Class literally flies by & he knows how to keep your attention. Def recommend!

I had Pr.Rolon for online class. It was of average difficulty class, but Pr. Rolon was there every time I needed help or clarification. If he sees that a student put an effort into a job he will help all the way just communicate with him.We had discussion every week, one small paper about an author, and one research paper.I am VERY glad I had him.

he was helpful and enthusiastic but wasted so much time talking about thing that had no relevance. he didnt know when to draw the line of saying anything offensive and he refuses to look you in the eye when hes talking to you. he is a really nice guy and pretty easy. his quizzes are question directly from the power point and he emails everything.

i really hate englis but he made class fly by. he is a very good teacher, i got a B and he is very easy on grading, i would take him again if i could

His classes are interesting. He always lets you out early. His quizzes are HARD, the questions are word-for-word from his powerpoints, so study well. He puts down his students a bit if they disagree with them. If your religious, don't take him, he puts down religion constantly. Decent professor, but I would NOT take him again.

Took because of good reviews on this site, but I found this class extremely odd. His discussions were off topic, always discussing relationships, religion, etc. of himself and students. Sometimes class became very awkward because of this. Moderate homework, hard tests/quizzes, and a five minute speech. Wouldn't take again.

Professor Rolon is by far my favorite professor at O.C.C/Kean. His quizzes are extremely easy to get an A on, since they're usually open-book and from the power-points. He is enthusiastic and sincere and best of all, a fair grader. I would recommend him over any other professor here.

Online class - excellent!! Heavy discussions run by and directed by the students - fascinating topics - off kilter reading materials - NO TEXT BOOK. Excellent class for self evaluation - reading materials are designed to help you think about yourself outside of the box - highly recommended instructor and class!

One of the best English Professors you could get. Class is filled with discussion, but if you don't like to talk someone else will. Another perk is that, he gives out very limited homework. He is a fair grader as well. I would definitely recommend him to anyone needed to take an ENGL course.

Joaquin was hands down the best professor at OCC, I took him for 3 semesters even after I met my english requirements. He is very easy going and relaxed, but incredibly intelligent. I would recommend him over every other professor at the college.

Usually not a fan of English but Professor Rolon was great. Classes went by fast and he kept it entertaining. Definitely need the book, some readings that aren't required, a few papers and quizzes, but overall pretty easy. Made English fun for me. Easy A if you show up and do your work. Taking him for English 2.

He is great! He challenged us yet was very fair, helpful, and personable. I took his class at MCCC about ten years ago to get my assiociates. I've since continued on to grad school and love to write and I honeslty attribute much of my interest and passion for writing to him.

Took two 5-week summer session online courses. He cuts down on the work, so it's doable. Good selection of stories. Good discussion questions. Very clear with grades. If you received an A in English III, you should get the same with Rolon.

He is the chillest professor ever!! He makes English so much fun! We takes notes on his PowerPoint, he let's us know about our tests, quizzes and midterm over time, and loves to entertain his students. He is a definite A+.

If I can have Rolon in every semester at OCC I would! His class isnt easy but I thoroughly enjoyed the class. Hes passionate but hes also laid back. I personally loved the way he conducted the class, his humor, compassion, and the way he outlined our assignments. There's a reason you may find a lot of his pervious students in your class. D

This is my favorite professor I've ever had! His class is anything but boring and fairly easy. But it's not the easy where you walk away from this class learning nothing. He's super passionate about his job and it shows, after taking his engl 151 it honestly made me look at life differently. Great professor!

I took World Lit as an on-line summer course. The online format was set by the college, not the professor, but he was always available for any questions and help, responded immediately. Extraordinarily insightful person, kept the discussion flow moving and interesting. I really had a very pleasant on-line experience. Take him if you can!

Take! Take! Take! Great teacher, we were given three five paragraph essay and One four page research paper. The rest was lectures on what was in the book and then a quiz on it. The quizzes were based on opinion so very easy. was going to take the class again but was filled.

I took him for both online and in class. He is indeed a great professor. He gives out good examples on what we are talking about with present tasks. For online, It is nice and simple; he has modules and you just need to complete each module to pass. he nice and simple

Online class. Lots of reading. Post a response in group chat once a week, and reply to 2 classmates. Quizzes weren't too difficult if you read the assignment. 2 Essay's and 1 Research paper were big, but class is def passable. Not much feedback on papers other than following the ruberic. Prof was responsive. I enjoyed the class.

Great professor! Professor Rolon offers you a manageable English class. I had very little issues in this. It's pretty self explanatory, show up, listen to his enthusiastic lecture and you will pass. We had a few quizzes/tests and papers. Overall a great class def would recommend for ENGL151.

Great prof!!! Quizzes are very easy, got hundreds on almost all of them. His power point slides tell you everything you need to know for the tests and quizzes. Writing assignments are easy as well, almost never gives out a grade lower than a 90. Would defiantly recommend him for ENGL151 with out a second thought.

Good lectures, funny, a research paper and quizzes. The more you write on the quizzes the better your grade is.

Very good teacher

Very hilarious! I loved his lectures, he allows you to speak about your experience in real life pertaining to the lecture. He will explain every story you read in detail, and he will work with you til the bitter ugly end. Recommended by family members too! Bonus: good course if you are not an English major! This mean you math nerds! :)

He is very funny and he makes a story this boring become very interesting. Tests are extremely easy if you write down everything he puts on the projector! I am taking him again for English152.

Basically just reading short stories that arent miserable to read and have a quiz every couple weeks. A few papers. He grades fairly. You honestly dont need to read the stories every night because he goes over them all and gives you notes in class. His lectures arent boring because he entertains the class and talks to everyone.

Professor Rolon was a extremely cool guy! His class consisted of open book quizes every week and 2 major papers. Lectures where long somedays but weren't bad because he does a good keeping students engaged in class. Overall this class is extremely if you attend class most of the time it is a Easy A.

Show up to class and listen to him talk. I love his lectures and find myself listening the whole time. He is very passionate about what he does and is very kind. The kids who just go on their phones were never scolded or yelled at, but he deserves undivided attention. He was a little tougher with the grading however but holds workshops for papers

If you don't like lectures, this isn't for you, but he is an easy A and even if you tried to fail you couldn't. He's amazing. Has workshops to look over your essays to help boost you're grade.

His classes were mostly lectures/discussions about the readings which help you understand them a little bit more and prepare you for the quizzes every few stories; a couple of essays to write. Generous grader meaning he will not take points off for trivial things like some professors. The class is very opinion based which helps. Rolon is great!!

AMAZING PROFESSOR! class is SO much fun, never boring! easy grader, gives you 90 or above on like everything! he made us laugh all class, dont be afraid to speak up, he loves to go off topic but relates it back to the lecture, so its great! usually the hw is to read a short story, but he goes over it in next class so you can get away w not doing it

Professor Rolón is such a great Professor. Hes very kind and cares about grades. Quizzes are really easy as you can have notes. The midterm and final are also easy as long as you study. He has workshops for papers where you go in and show him and he gives feedback before grading it so you can fix it. I definitely recommend him.

Professor Joaquin is an amazing professor. His style of teaching is perfect as he is not a teacher who tries to throw you for a loop. Joaquin lectures and then tells you when papers/quizzes are. There is no pop quizzes or and funny gimmicks. He is an amazing professor and I will definitely take him for English 2

Joaquin gives amazing lectures. He always goes into great detail, relates complicated readings to real-world situations, and is overall very engaging. He's very fair and detailed with grading and gives good constructive criticism. He also holds WebEx's where he will help you write essays before they are even due! Super easy class and an easy A!

Professor Rolon has the best lectures and is always there for you if you need something!

Lecture heavy. Easy discussions after each reading (around 20), around 5 essays (including research papers), and 2 open ended quizzes. That is the whole assignment layout pretty much. He explains the stories well, and calmingly.

He is a great professor he keeps the lectures fun. There is not a lot of work but by saying this all the work he gives you, you have to do it. But it is an easy class and an easy chill professor.

I loved this class so much. He doesnt do exams just quizzes. The quizzes arent easy so make sure you take good notes. The class is fast paced so make sure you pay attention and dont skip class. If you dont show up youll be lost. Great guy! Hilarious and made the class enjoyable. Would take again. 10/10 recommend.

He has been one of my favorite professors in college so far. He is super nice and was a professor I could go to for advice. I really like his style of teaching and I always leave his class thinking about what we talk about in class. I'm sure anyone that takes any of his classes will like him a lot.

He was a good teacher, his class time was pretty boring though. However I never read any of his reading assignments because in class all he does is talk in detail about the reading. If you take notes and go to class you do not really have to do anything else. The quizzes and tests are all based on what we talk about in class.

I absolutely ADORED Professor Rolon! He had personality and humor. Very encouraging, especially with wrong answers, and always explained why you were wrong and helped you understand. Not a lot of workload, just note-taking and practice in class. Quizzes were easy, too, and you could use notes. He was a lot of fun and created a great environment!

Professor Rolon is an awesome English professor. He is personable and engaging in class. He gives quizzes, the mid-term, and final on paper. So you'll be spending those classes writing an essay by hand. There's a presentation, too. The class is difficult but he's a great lecturer on top of it so it balances things out

Great professor. 3 essays, 2 quizzes, midterm, final, and discussion posts. Missing class brings grade down a lot. Makes lectures fun. Only complaint is that some posted assignments are confusing, but if you ask him, he'll explain everything in detail. Would recommend taking :)

Take him if you can! His lectures are amazing and engaging, he goes over every reading in class and leaves his students prepared for all work. There are quite a few essays, but he is very willing to help out with any questions and give ample time for completion. I'd like to add that he is a pretty funny guy who overall wants everyone to succeed.

He's very passionate about English which is refreshing to see in instructors. 3 essays, midterm, final, some discussions on Canvas, and 2 quizzes on stories from the textbook. You read them outside of class but go over it next lecture (take notes!) Coming from someone who has a hard time paying attention, he's a good professor.

Professor Rolon was one of the best professors I've ever had! His lectures were engaging and interactive, and he encouraged students to participate frequently. Attendance is graded pretty heavily, but he teaches a hi-flex course as well. There's a lot of reading, but he always goes over the material in class. Wonderful, and very helpful! Take him!

Professor Rolon is awesome! His quizzes are open note and all of his lectures are interactive. He's also hilarious and knows how to keep the class engaged. Just beware of being called on randomly to answer a question. But other than that, take him!
