Jody ROCKS!! I took two classes from her. I took the second one (book and movie comparison) just for fun because I wanted to experience her teaching a second time around. Her story explanations and class discussions are engaging. I recommend her highly!!

Her class was great she has a story of her own on everything in class a lot of discussion, and just a lot of fun, That was fist time i ever go an A in english a very nice lady.

Not a hard class. I bought cliff notes all year and got an A. Must be thorough with your essays. It is a GPA booster.

Very fair teacher. I loved her and english was never my best subject. She was great at explaining and always made sense. No useless babble, aside from the many interesting side stories. I worked pretty hard on the essay's and got an A!

Awseome teacher, I hate English and I have a 100% in the class just show her your essays before its due and your bound to get an A, She gives Extra credit too, She looks pretty good for her age - TBC

Interesting class. She really wants you to learn and you can tell she loves to teach. I really enjoyed her as a professor.

She's a struggling writer, so if you're a writer yourself, she totally picks apart your essays and makes you feel like sh*t... but gives you an A. Still, she's nice and passionate about English.

Covers everything extremely well. No way will you not get an A in this class if you let her proof read papers before turn in. She is buff too. You read A Clockwork Orange in her class which is rad.

Really nice. Is funny. I left loving literature. She is detailed and will give you comprehensive analysis of your writing. Being thoughtful has its way of prospering in the class. Is awesome. And yeah, dude...she's ripped!

she goes over all of the reading so if you are unclear, she will explain it. mostly reading, not a composition class. three short papers, 4-6 pages with three in-class essays. fun if you love literature!

she's such a good teacher. she's really nice and understanding. She's not a hard grader, but she will tell you everything that you did wrong in your paper. I loved being that class. you read a colckwork orange which is the best book. i would take her again.

I took her during summer, she let us out early. i recommend taking this class during summer, it goes by so fast. She was very easy, i felt like i was in highschool again. she tells u everthing u need to know for the tests. She also gives extra credit.

don't be a creative writer, take her lecture and copy her words verbatim into your essays, then you will get a decent grade...

She was very helpful to me. Answered all my questions and proofred the essay draft befoore I turned it in. Very devoted to poetry.

She loves her job and her students. Her lectures are very clear and the tests are fair because she lets you know what will be on them so its up to you if you want to study and get an A. However, the essays are a lot of work and she grades tough, its a 200 level english class what do you expect.

Take her in the summer/winter if you're good in Eng b/c she's pretty easy, but her 5-week session can get pretty intense. She's also really passionate about the subject. As long as you write in your papers what she teaches in class you'll get an A.

She is great. The sweetest prof I've had so far. She is so passionate about what she does that she will make the material interesting to her student. I definitely recommend her.

Great professor, she is so passionate about the subject. Very insightful and entertaining. Her tests are a challenge but if you study and listen during class, you will be ok. Truly one of the best English teachers at Pierce plus really encourages students to write. Can't wait to take ENG 207

She is one of the best professors I have ever had. She knows her stuff and is willing to help you when you need it. She is a fairly easy grader and as long as you show up everyday, you'll do well. Her tests are a bit challenging, but her classes are definately worth your time.

I enrolled in two English literature classes that she's taught. I've taken many since at CSUN but none have compared. She introduces herself as "The Great Goddess of English" and she is! Great teacher. Skinny, blue eyed blond. And naturally funny.

Very dry and boring. She makes a lot of joke that only she laughs at.I found it difficult to stay away and so did many others in the class.

She was nice, but I was so bored out of my mind during class. Honestly felt as if it was a waste of time going to that class. We had to buy 3 books! She was reallly nice, the class was just really dull and not very interesting.

I honestly don't know how Jodi Johnson gets bad ratings...she is awesome! She is an intelligent and insightful woman who goes out of her way to help students succeed in her class. Go to class, take notes, and you'll be fine. I have had many english teachers at Pierce and she is mt favorite by far.

Jodi Johnson is a wonderful teacher. I took Creative Writing with her and she was always upbeat and happy to be there. She is very friendly and helpful. She made us write A LOT, but that's what we were there for. Her lectures were never boring and I learned a lot in her class. She is passionate and enthusiastic about writing. Highly recommended!

Awesome, awesome, awesome. She is an extremely intelligent and upbeat woman who really knows her stuff. Attendance is mandatory, but she is sweet and tells interesting stories which makes the time fly by. I can't believe how much I learned about English Literature in just one semester. Highly recommended.

Jodi is a wonderful teacher-I took her twice and am going to take her another year. She does not make you come to class nor do you really need to. Her class is so simple you can follow the syllabus-her assignments she always goes over the next day so if you didnt read them its okay. Her essays she lets you do ahead of time and bring them in

this teacher can be pretty cool at times. She is always behind on lessons though and that creates a lot of pressure on the students. lots of extra credit and pay close attention to the material from the book if you want to pass the class.

I recommend her because she's very helpful to all students. I had a wonderful experience in her class. It's very adventurous and she puts education in a positive mode. Probably one of the best teachers I have had at Pierce. She isn't like other English teachers who just stand in front of the class and read out of a book. She actually makes the material interesting and easy to understand. She tells you everything thats going to be on the tests. Pay attention in class and write good papers and you will get an A.

Let me put it this way: I'm taking her for 101 & 102 in the near future. She was one of my favorite teachers at Pierce because not only was her lectures great, but she really took the time to help her students. Take her class if you can! You won't regret it :)

I LOVE JODI!!! She's AWESOME. Teachers like her make you want to go to class, plus she's hot! I was able to learn. I started the class with a "C", then was able to get a "B" and finally was able to get "A's." In other words, you're likely to learn with her. Jodi is super easy going, well spoken and charismatic!

I enjoyed her class because she is really clear and interesting. If you write good essays, then this class will be way easy for you. If not, you will learn a lot! :)

Shes very sweet and helpful. Shes not a tough grader and offers lots of extra credit. Even if youre not into reading, she basically outlines the entire story/book for you in a super interesting way that will make you want to read it. Not much homework, but a lot of reading and a few take home essays. She is very clear on what to expect on tests.

Very supportive and encouraging. Mostly workshop: class evaluates and critiques each other's work. Some brief lecturing based on textbook. Writing assignments done outside class independently and include a journal of textbook assignments. Always 15-20 min late! Sometimes vague on "next week" assignments, need to ask questions to nail her down.

Great teacher & super nice. Take good notes while reviewing material during class & review the study guides (study groups help). 2 explications & 3 essays. 2 tests & a final. You need the books for the class and an attendance sheet is passed around each day.

I HIGHLY SUGGEST HER! just do your work and show that you care!you can easily get an A in the class or the oposite! just try to understand what she really wants from you and do it and that way you will get an A! she gives homework, it's not hard just do it!shes open to help you whenever- use her!!

OK lets get something straight, Prof. Johnson is anything but jugmental of race! She is truely one of the most caring and honorable people that you will ever meet. Amazing teacher. Real helpful and clear. She gives you 4 essays (4 pages each), 3 summaries (2 pages each), and 1 research paper (6 pages each), and finals which is another in cass essay. Thats the syllabus. I 101% recommend her. she is awesome.

Her writing is almost always illedgible + she can get very into her opinions about certain works. The tests are easy if you study for them, but the essay topics are somewhat difficult - especially when you get them back + they're all marked up. Overall it was a good class + it helped that I read a lot of the stories in advance.

Well, Ms. Johnson is not a bad professor. Even though couple multiple choice questions are pretty easy, however her essay topics are somewhat really difficult. Whenever she grades essays, her handwriting is extremely difficult to read as well. I agree with previous comments regarding her essay topics.

Loved her, she's a great person. She's an awesome personality, her grading system is fair and she also marks u up upon ur hard work. I took this class during the winter session, it as kinda hard for me but i got through it safely with a B. I was afraid from getting a C. but she was really generous :) PS. this is my 1st B I ever got in a class

Great professor!

She is a great professor! She's very helpful & approachable. For the essays she gives a bunch of topics & you can choose which to write about. She assigns reading for each class meeting...so you will need the books. There are 3 summaries(1-2pgs), 4 essays(4-6pgs), 1 research paper(8-10pgs),& an in-class essay for the final exam. Highly recommend!

She has a true passion for English which allows her students to easily engage in a learning experience. Her choice of literature is excellent, and her lectures are very interesting; Jodi has a way of opening your eyes to new perspectives. She's fun and eccentric!Goes off topic at times, but who doesn't. TAKE HER!

Very hard instructor for English Comp. IF you are majoring in English for a living, take this instructor. If you just need GE requirement, consider FOLLETT, R J.

Tough but fair. She's passionate about English & treats you accordingly. Not for slackers, so think before you add. If you major in or enjoy English, she is a MUST. Pierce is lucky to have her!

The readings and essays were challenging,but well worth the effort. Jodi is fare and expects you to give it your all. If you are not interested in working for your grade, she is not for you.She opened my mind up to a new dimension.I would take her again.

okay honestly she is the easiest english 101 teacher. i had her for a night class from 7-10 and she always came late but got straight to work. you don't have to read but if you do you understand everything better (duh) i highy recommend her. she's willing to help you and her papers are easy!

She is a great teacher. She doesn't expect you to be a fancy professional writer like many other teachers do. If you try you can get an A easily.You can also show her your essay before is its due. There are 4 essays,journals(one page), and a final(no midterm). She also drops your lowest grade.

A fun and fantastic teacher! She's full of energy with an amazing sense of humor! You need to be able to laugh with her! Passed with an A! She really tries to teach and help you make improvements! Great class!

She is very helpful,clear,and easy going.She understands that you are a student and her expectation is fair. She is very passionate about teaching,and a teacher you don't feel how time has passed when you are in the class. During her office hours, before students submit their essay, she goes over the essay and help to fix the mistakes.

Professor Johnson really knows how to teach her students. Took the summer session and it was fast paced. She lets you turn in essays through email and turn in hard copies later. I really enjoyed learning about fiction, poetry and drama. Great professor do not miss any class because you will get off course and take notes to look back for essays.

Professor Johnson is awesome. Out of all of the classes I had her as a professor, 102 is probably the funnest (a lot of analyzing, but she makes its easy). She's energetic, thorough, and overall wonderful!

Professor Johnson is extremely motivating, helpful, and funny. Definitely show up to class and participate. She gives her students great feedback, and informs the class of all the assignments in detail; she makes it simple to follow when assignments are due. I highly suggest taking a course from Professor Johnson.

Not really much to say, she's a good teacher and makes it easy to pass if you do your work and read all the essays.

Pretty good professor. Although notes can get a bit messy, she's pretty easy and will help when you need it. As long as you get your work done it should be fine. She makes you do a journal based off a wkbk & stories read in class. It may seem tedious but it's probably just cuz i took it over winter.

She gives beautiful lectures on British literature! She positively comes to life during her poetry readings. However, you are expected to work hard on the research papers, and her tests are difficult if you haven't read closely. or come to class. Participation is paramount to getting a decent grade. Don't be afraid English majors!

It is rare to have a professor showcase their passion to where it illuminates their students and ability to transcend that enthusiasm into her lectures. I never been a big English fan, hated to write an sort of essay as I found it reductive. By challenging my thoughts, i love to write now, despite my misspelled words.

I took professoror Johnson for english28 last semester and I am currently taking her for English 101. I also enrolled to take her for English 102. clearly you can tell how much I love this professor. she is always available to help and really wants you to succeed. not an easy A class unless you work for it. LOVE HER!!

Jodi is an amazing professor. She is very clear when she teaches. She is very understanding. You would miss out on a lot of information if you don't show up to class. Her in-class essays are open note, and she gives you the topics from two weeks in advance so you can prepare. Overall, she is the best! But you can't get away with doing nothing.

She is my favorite teacher ever! I have taken her for English 28,101, and 102 and got an A in all of those classes. Her class isn't an easy A class but if you pay attention, use her office hours to proofread essays for feedback, and read minimally, u should get an A. She is straight forward and doesn't trick you. 10 EASY extra credit available too.

I took professor Johnson in spring 2016 for eng 28. She does give a lot of homework and several essays. However, she makes herself available if you need help and the homework is not difficult. Shes very patient and a inspirational teacher. Her lectures and attitude make you want to learn. I wish i could take her for every class because her attitude

She is an amazing teacher! she is very clear and straighforward about what she wants on essays and exams. as long as you try your best, review the study guide, and occasionally read the material before class, you will get an A. She does give a few pop quizes and participation quizes at the end of class. you can use ur notes and you will be fine!

I took Professor Johnson for English 28 and I am currently taking her for 101. I decided to take her again after having her for 28 over winter because she is just that great. She makes things easy for her students and is very clear on what she expects out of her assignments. She grades very fairly and will always help you during her office hours.

Really liked this teacher, one of my favorites that I've had in an English course. The class can be a little hard at times but as long as you do all the reading, come prepared and write the papers you're good. She is interesting and I enjoyed the material she had us read for class.

Had Jodi in 1987. She made English 101 fun and exciting. She was very specific on what constitutes an, A, B, work, and so on. Her trips to the UK sounded exciting. She and her husband had a party for us students interested in joining them on their next trip.

Excellent professor! I learned so much from Professor Johnson -- she truly cares about students' growth and progress. The assignments and feedback will definitely prepare you for success in transferring to a University. Her lectures are packed, but very knowledgeable, interesting, and funny:). Plus, she's well liked by other classmates, too.

Jodi is a great professor for English 102. Really nice and is clear about the assignments. She responds fast to emails and is available for office hours which I encourage you to take advantage of. There are 3 essays, 3 unit tests, 2 short explications (1 for poetry chapter and 1 for Short fiction), 1 scene analysis. Easy grader. TAKE HER!

English 102 - She is very nice. Material is boring. Easy A. Few essays/papers. She takes a day to go over a short poem. KEY TO AN "A" - GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS! I cant stress this enough. Write your essay early, have her read it at office hours and go again. She tells you exactly what to revise. Tests kinda hard - vocab and examples from readings

Best English teacher I ever had. I have learned so much from her so far. She goes around the class if you have questions. Great attitude about teaching. Not an easy class either, you have to read and actually do the homework and essays, but they're not super difficult, she's always there to help you too.

Love this prof! She is a sweet professor who genuinely cares for her students. Def recommend going to her during her office hours! She edits and reviews essays before they are due. You do have to do a good amount of work in the class, but it is very doable and she is always there to help you. Take her!!!:-)

Everything is very straightforward. Prof. Johnson is super kind and always finds a way to work with her students! Ive hated english but she made me grow to love the material she taught! Her love for literature is very evident and I would highly recommend this class.

Sipee straight forward and tells you exactly what you need to study for the exams! As long as you study the guide and read the selected passages you will do well! She is interedting and semi easy! Take her!!!!

One of the best English teachers in the department. She takes great care to help everyone, has flexible office hours and if you pay attention in class and write notes there is no way to fail. She is passionate about what she does. There is a lot of writing, but as long as you keep up with it you will be fine. She is also a very decent grader.

Prof. Johnson enjoys teaching and is always in a good mood. There is a lot of reading and writing involved . I found her lecture to be long and dull. She wants her papers to be written the way she lectured so, take notes.

My experience with Professor Johnson's English class was by far the most fulfilling. Her way of teaching her students kept me interested in the readings, she made all the material so understandable. Due to Covid-19, we had to switch to an online format mid-semester, she had to start doing lecture videos, she worked so hard and had so much patience!

I took her Honors English 102 and it was AMAZING. We did a lot of reading in a short period of time, but what else do you expect for an English class? If you submit a paper to her before the due date, she provides good feedback for a chance to improve. She does sometimes give pop quizzes, but all the answers were discussed that same class session.

Professor Johnson has taught me so much. I am so grateful to have had her during Covid times. She is super accessible even during her online classes. I wish I could've had her in person. She also really cares about her students and wants you to get a good grade. However, she is a tough grader and will make sure you are doing your absolute best

My fave teacher everrr, she is so passionate abt English and is so sweet! Get ready to read, she isn't an easy A, she has a lot of papers and short assignments but if you write abt what she lectured abt you should be good. You have to buy a book but honestly you can find the readings online and be fine. Try not to procrastinate and do the readings!

so passionate about english and so fun to learn from her!!!! but there are a lot of essays and the final paper has to be about 10 pages plus the final exam has an essay question that has to be about 1k words so... lots of writing throughout the whole class.

The professor is super passionate about English. Lots of essays, but if you engage with the material and use study aids like unstuck ai, you can excel. Not an easy A, but a rewarding course.
